Restaurant GangNaRu in Frankfurt am Main

No matter what menu you order, everything tastes good. To be honest, I don't know about the side dishes... And other places usually open for dinner at 18:00, but this place opens a little early, so I like it.

Six basic side dishes are provided. But only one meal per 4 people. Whether there are 2 or 4 people, 6 are the same. Unless you're a family member, who in this world eats side dishes together these days?! It's really old style. Even if we want to eat side dishes, we are considerate of each other and end up leaving it all behind. To be honest, I'm not leaving it because the side dish doesn't taste good, but I'm not eating it because I don't like chopsticks getting mixed up. Since people leave a lot of side dishes, the restaurant doesn't even provide any more side dishes, probably because they think there will be leftovers even if they give them away. The food tastes just… It's just like the Korean restaurants in Germany. The amount is small. I really regret it. It's been a while since I went, but I still use a pepper shaker that is a year past its expiration date. Pepper already has a long shelf life, but the fact that a year has already passed is... really... speechless. The food is not tasty and the side dishes are not tasty either.

GangNaRu has long since become my go-to place when it comes to good Korean food. I come regularly for lunch - the food is always fresh and tasty, and there is free tea with the menu. The restaurant is lovingly run by a family and you immediately feel welcome. The ambience is rather simple, but for me that is of secondary importance - taste counts here. I was there with friends in the evening and everyone was thrilled - especially the Korean BBQ. Another real insider tip that definitely deserves more attention!

GangNaRu is hands down one of the best spots for Korean food near Frankfurt. Every dish we’ve tried has been excellent, and we’ve recommended it to all our friends. The Kimchi Jjigae is my personal favorite — I order it almost every time, and it never disappoints. Even though it’s about a 45-minute drive for us, my wife and I come often because the food is consistently outstanding. Located within a rowing club facility, GangNaRu has a relaxed, diner-style feel. If you’re craving authentic Korean cuisine, it’s absolutely worth the trip.

The premises are located directly on the Main above a sports club. Super friendly welcome and service. The dishes were super tasty and the portions were large. The price/performance ratio is still right here. We paid €57 with drinks, starters and main course. We'll definitely come back. I couldn't give all the stars for the atmosphere, but that's a good thing. It's all very simple, but that's how it should be and fits in with authentic cuisine. See you again soon.

One of my favorite restaurants around here. The Korean BBQ and all the other dishes we tried are really tasty and seem to be quite authentic.

This is a large Korean restaurant located on the riverside near downtown Frankfurt. The parking lot is spacious and convenient. The a la carte menu is delicious and there is also a grill where you can grill meat in Korean style.

The side dishes were delicious, the bibimbap was healthy, and the tripe stew soup was rich and delicious. It was a reasonable price and had a large dining area and parking space, so it was nice to drive there. The aisles are wide and there are baby chairs, so it was worth coming even if you have a baby. If you tell us when making a reservation, they will also provide children's tableware. However, there was no elevator, so I had to go up with a stroller, and it was disappointing that there seemed to be no diaper changing table.

A new chef came in these days and the taste has become much cleaner. I rotate through all the Korean restaurants in Ppu, but this restaurant has the best bulgogi.

We were there again. One of the best spots in town for comfort food Korean style with a beautiful view of river Main. Consistently great service and food quality. Always loved the more side dishes and condiments. Another happy lunch.

(I ordered cold noodles with spicy beef stew) The friends I ate with were not Korean) They are Yukgaejang lovers, I commented that the clear Yukgaejang was normal, but the broth tasted like soybean paste, which was a little strange. Well, it didn't taste like the Yukgaejang I was used to. It was a hot day and I had no appetite, so I ordered cold noodles. Compared to the price, the appearance and taste were disappointing. And the kimchi among the side dishes is not crunchy in texture. It's soft and the taste is a little strange... It was so strange that I wondered if they had to serve it as a side dish. It's the first time I've ever had kimchi with that texture and taste in my life.. ㅠㅜ It's just a side dish, but I think you need to pay a little more attention... Or maybe it's better not to serve it... . After taking some time and thinking about it for a long time, we were all looking forward to Korean food and looking for various Korean restaurants, so we decided to try this place... but we were disappointed... Also, one of my friends said that the person serving him had a bad expression. I said something was strange.

Very tasty food & super friendly staff

Very nice staff who give lots of tips and help. We had barbecue and seafood pancakes and mandu dumplings and the beef soup. Everything has an event character. But if you want to get your fill, you'd better go 150 meters further to the golden wok :-)

Went here by chance and can only recommend the store. Very nice staff, good food and good portions. My friend and I are bigger men and therefore ordered and ate something well. We ate for just over €100 for two and are definitely well prepared for our journey home to Leipzig Thanks for the good food, if we lived nearby we would be there more often!

An authentic and very warmly run Korean restaurant in Frankfurt am Main! 😊 The family business impresses with delicious dishes. The lunch menu is particularly a highlight - delicious food at fair prices, and there is also free tea. Definitely an insider tip that I can warmly recommend!

If you want authentic and relatively affordable Korean food in Frankfurt, then you have to do it at Gangnaru. The restaurant is a family business and it shows. We eat like at home with mom and are served with care. Unlike other restaurants, the Banchan never has anything to do with it, I know that differently. We particularly recommend the Tangsuyuk, which is still a mystery to me. Kimchi Jeon is always great, you can't find it crispier anywhere. Another highlight is the brown rice, instead of the standard white. Gangnaru is simply DIFFERENT.

My absolute favorite restaurant when it comes to Korean cuisine. I highly recommend the Jajangmyeon and the Bibimbap. ❤️ The service robot is also an eye-catcher, I've never seen anything like it in Germany. 😅

Today I visited the Korean restaurant and was unfortunately disappointed. The food was good, but the prices were just way too high for what was on offer. Three small pieces of pork belly for 32 euros are overpriced in my opinion. In addition, you also have to pay an extra 1 euro to refill the side dishes, which are usually free in Korean restaurants. For the price I would have expected much more, both in terms of portion size and service. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the restaurant and will not come back in the future.

The restaurant is on the first floor of the rowing club. Many plants divide the large space and make the atmosphere friendly - As well as the attentive and friendly service. The food tastes delicious and questions about spiciness and composition are answered competently. We will be back.

If you are a Korean who knows about traditional Korean food, you will be very disappointed. I went there because I heard the sundae soup was delicious, but I was really disappointed. The sundubu stew… Wow... I don't know if it's soft tofu or soybean paste. I can just eat soft tofu for the first time in my life. Please at least use more seasoning to give it more flavor. All countries are in a daze...

Hands down the best Korean food I had in Frankfurt, went here a few times now. The food was absolutely delicious and freshly made. Very authentic Korean dish and service was friendly and professional too. Highly recommended.

The meat has become a lot more expensive and the quality has decreased. To do this, you must not set the grill to “high”, otherwise the unfriendly service will come and turn the grill level down. As a result, the meat didn't cook properly and we always had to "secretly" raise the grill higher, but this was quickly noticed and then we intervened again.

The quality of this store’s sundae soup is not good. The inside of the sundae is separated, making it difficult to recognize its shape. Improvement is needed. The price of 15 euros is unbelievably expensive. And before, we didn't charge extra for side dishes, but now we have to pay extra.

I heard that the Korean food in Frankfurt was delicious, so I rushed there from Geneva with high expectations, but I was very disappointed. In sundae soup, the sundae is all loose and you can't tell its shape. Only the internal organs are visible. The best sundae soup in Europe is Sambuja in Paris. When making real sundae soup, you have to add the sundae at the end to prevent it from dissolving. It feels like the basics are lacking. The beef stew was also so-so. The ttukbaegi bulgogi was the best.

Meine erste Erfahrung mit koreanischen Essen war in diesem Restaurant ein wirklicher Volltreffer. Eine umfangreiche Karte lockt mit mir meist unbekannten Gerichten. Die Chefin erklärte mir bei Rückfragen die jeweiligen Zubereitungen und empfahl mir eines der Gerichte. Zusammen mit den Vorspeisen in kleinen Schälchen gereicht ist das Essen ausserordentlich vielfältig, viel Gemüse, pikante Sossen und damit ein geschmackliches Gesamtkunstwerk. Ich war zu dieser Zeit der einzige nicht asiatische Gast. Was für eine authentische Küche spricht und nicht gegen das Lokal. Wer einmal was wirklich besonderes verkosten will wird sich im Gang Na Ru wohlfühlen. Preislich war es ebenfalls völlig ok.

It's a shame to see that Gangnaru is now going the way of many Korean BBQ restaurants and combining price increases/stagnation with extremely reduced portion sizes. We have been here many times in the last year and have always been impressed by the quality as well as the quantity and selection of table grills. But that has probably changed since 2024. It's understandable that a lot of things have become more expensive here and people are trying to save money, but the way it's done here is almost audacious. Two portions of meat for almost 30 euros means two smaller and one larger pieces of meat, all about the size of a palm. At every opportunity they try to squeeze out more money. The side dishes, the quantity of which has also decreased significantly, can only be refilled against payment. A no-go in my opinion at a Korean bbq. Even the pure lettuce leaves for roulades are only refilled exactly once, free of charge. All of this combined with the frozen quality of side dishes and subtly rude service, who made a face like she smelled bad every time she came to our table, make you more inclined to go to another restaurant or just grill at home. Financially it would be cheaper. The quality of the meat itself, the very friendly older lady who billed us and the very nice interior design are just the only plus points here.

Friendly, customer-oriented even when delivering!!

Eating authentically Korean food like this in Germany is not possible everywhere. Many Korean guests from other German cities even come here because it is so good!

It's 2024 and customer satisfaction is not their motto. Two portions (Korean BBQ, you are forced to take two of the same type) cannot satisfy three people. It looked easy for one person. The prices in this regard are also a disgrace. A portion, depending on the type of meat, costs between 13 and 25 euros. You expect much more than a small portion. Side dishes of all kinds are charged extra. Who charges extra for pure lettuce leaves? The employees aren't exactly friendly to you either. The restaurant has gone down a lot, especially when it comes to the quality of the food. I would not recommend this restaurant. Go eat somewhere else. Here you will just lose money unnecessarily and go home disappointed.

We were here before in 2023 and it was a great experience, but a lot has changed. We ordered table grill (€13 per portion), which requires you to order twice of the same dish. The meat for this was one portion instead of two, which means the price of €26 in total is far too much. Based on our experience last year, we expected that the side dishes and rice would be refilled. Meanwhile, with the small quantities of side dish, you only get kimchi and the pure lettuce leaves (about ½ heart of romaine) once filled up, for the rest and then you have to pay €1.50. Even if the quality has not changed and the table grill still tastes good, all in all it has become very expensive. The fact that we were not informed about the change anywhere also had a negative impact on our experience here. And the gyoza for €6 were (as far as we can tell) from mass-produced frozen goods. If you have enough money, we can recommend it (nice atmosphere and enough portions will fill you up), but we won't eat here again.

The furniture in GangNaRu is a bit old, but the ambience is still cozy thanks to the many plants and the Korean music in the background. The food was very tasty, authentic and very good quality. The drinks, the teas, absolutely fine. The service, including the robots, was prompt, friendly and attentive. We even got extra fried chicken pieces as a greeting from the house. Unfortunately there was no dessert on the menu. However, our child was offered a popsicle when paying, a pleasant gesture and all the more reason to come back!

We tried several korean Restaurants and can say now, in 2024: This is the best Korean Restaurant in Frankfurt- Wiesbaden area. Very authentic and tasty dishes. We tried 1 in Wiesbaden and in Mainz, definitely gangnam Restaurant is our favorite !! Thank you very much N#1 Korean Restaurant hessen.

둘이서 제육볶음 하나와 순대국밥 두개를 시켰어요. 맛과 서비스가 예전과 많이 달라진 것 같아서 실망했습니다. 예전에 처음 갔을때 순대국밥을 맛있게 먹었던 기억이 있어서 재방문하여 또 순대국밥을 시켰는데, 맛이 달라진게 느껴졌어요. 내용물의 양은 넉넉했으나 내장 비율이 너무 높고 순대의 질이 많이 안좋아 진 느낌이 들었습니다. 돼지냄새가 아닌 그냥 오래된 찌든내가 났습니다. 제육볶음은 반대로 매콤하니 맛이 괜찮았는데, 가격대비 양이 적은 것 같아요. 사장님은 친절하셨어요. 하지만 한 종업원분의 서비스가 좀 불편했습니다. 다 먹고 계산하려고 준비하면서 테이블에 앉아 있었는데, 한 외국인 종업원이 저희 테이블을 정리하려고 오셨습니다. 그런데 앉아있는 저희 바로 앞에서 남은 잔반과 남은 국물 등을 다 합치셨어요 ㅠㅠ 옷에 국물 튈까봐 얼른 일어났습니다. 그리고 같은 분께서 또 실수를 하셨어요. 메뉴 3개에 밥 3개 포함인데, 저희 계산서에 밥 하나를 추가로 넣으셔서 사장님께 설명하고 빼고 계산했습니다. 이런 디테일한 부분이 좀 아쉬워요. 개선 부탁드립니다.

Wir waren gestern Abend zu 5. im Restaurant. Wir hatten einen Tisch reserviert und wurden sehr freundlich empfangen. Die Einrichtung ist eher schlicht gehalten. Am Tisch ist ein Grill eingelassen, auf dem man Fleisch anbraten kann oder auch nochmal Essen warm machen kann. Das Angebot an Speisen ist gross und für jeden Geschmack ist etwas dabei. Der Service ist sehr gut und aufmerksam.

Korean BBQ leider nicht auf Kohle aber dennoch super lecker. Sehr gute Auswahl an Side Dishes zum BBQ und gutes Fleisch. Ein weiteres Highlight ist der Service Roboter, der leider nur koreanisch spricht. Aber wirklich ein netter Kerl... und fleißig :). Auf jeden Fall einen oder mehrere Besuche wert.

Previously a favorite, especially for Korean cuisine, this restaurant’s quality has significantly declined over the past year. Despite giving it multiple chances, hoping for an off day, we’ve consistently been let down. The side dishes, once fresh, now lack quality and come in smaller portions. Even staples like kimchi incur extra charges. During my last visit, the pork belly dish was a major disappointment. Nearly every piece contained bone or cartilage, made me almost break my teeth. This, along with a reduced menu, has been a letdown. It’s unfortunate to witness such a downturn in what was once a beloved eatery.

The food and service is really good!! My friend and I had an amazing lunch at this restaurant. Our waitress is very attentive and super nice. The food is really good, location is really nice as well, it's very relaxing.

Very good Korean BBQ restaurants with a variety of dishes.

Wir kommen sehr gerne in das GangNaRu. Das Essen ist immer lecker und die Bedienung sehr freundlich. Wer Lust auf authentische, koreanische Küche hat, ist hier richtig. Ich empfehle das koreanische BBQ sehr mit dem Mischfleischteller, damit alles mal probiert werden kann und die Kimchi Pfannkuchen als Vorspeise!

We had the budae jjigae for two and the spicy wings. The stew was bland and not well put together. The wings were great. The service in my opinion was just okay….. We arrived on a Monday during lunch so it was right before they were expecting a lot of people. I was super excited when I saw that they had a call button at the table like in Korea but unfortunately, it did not work, or they didn’t pay any attention to it. We will certainly have to return and try their lunch menu, everyone around us seemed to enjoy them. Will update this review when we do.

The food was really good! The service was excellent and the little robot bringing us what we needed was absolutely adorable!! This experience was really nice and a great place to go with a few friends and catch up. The view was also gorgeous, overlooking the river. I got the Bibimbap and it was very flavourful!

Etwas außerhalb gelegen, aber es lohnt sich absolut. Angenehme Atmosphäre mit schöner Aussicht. Wir sind kurz vor Ladenschluss gekommen, wurden aber dennoch herzlich aufgenommen und das Essen kam super schnell. Sehr lecker. Eine gute Auswahl an Gerichten 🍚. Bestellung kommt natürlich mit Banchan.

I am traveling from Canada and did -not- expect such authentic, hearty, generous Korean food that had more variety than my hometown region. I had my Seolongtang and trust me nothing like a non-spiced beef soup that tells you that everything else in that restaurant would be good. Friend had Yukgaejang and had no problem finishing two bowls of rice. I am going there again tomorrow to eat something I’d been eat for 7-8 years because the ingredient is simply so rare outside of Korea!

War waren ohne Reservierung dort und obwohl alles voll war und wurde ein Platz für uns gefunden Vielen Dank dafür !. Das Essen war super lecker (wir haben gegrillt)und ich werde mit Sicherheit wieder hin gehen absolut großartig.

Leider gar nicht zu empfehlen: Erweckte einen authentischen Eindruck aufgrund der übrigen BesucherInnen. Dennoch war das Essen einfach gar nicht gut: Tischgrill erst ab 2 Personen pro Fleischzusammenstellung, sodass man nicht mal die Möglichkeit hat mehrere auszuprobieren (knapp 30€ pP). Dafür bekamen wir ungewürzten, nicht mariniertes Fleisch (Schweinebauch, Schweinenacken, Hühnerbrust und Rindfleischscheiben). Fleischqualität sah nach Discounter aus und schmeckte auch so. Dazu ein winzigen bisschen Dip und Salatblätter. An den Nachbartischen sah es ähnlich aus. Sogar nach ein wenig Salz musste gefragt werden. Banchan (Beilagen) waren ok und gehörten dazu - trotzdem viel zu teuer um sich liebloses Fleisch selber zu grillen… Zu allem Überfluss kam eine ältere Dame (möglicherweise Besitzerin) zwischenzeitlich vorbei und entriss mir die Grillzange aus meiner Hand, da ich wohl Fleisch falsch positioniert hatte. Wirklich eine Frechheit, wenn man seinen Kunden solches Fleisch serviert und dann so tut als läge es an der Position des Fleisches auf dem Grill. Während des Besuchs fingen direkt Magenprobleme an - nun über eine Woche später noch nicht überwunden. Ich war schon bei vielen Koreanern in Frankfurt - dieses bis dato das mit Abstand schlechteste.
