At Friesenjunge you have a fairly diverse selection and the staff is friendly. In addition to a few salads and fish, there are mainly burgers and pizza. Taste ok, but nothing special. The atmosphere is quite nice. Important - the kitchen closes at around 7 p.m., after that there are only drinks. On the other hand, it's more comfortable to sit because it suddenly becomes quieter in the hall. 😉

Looks very chic and trendy - unfortunately some of it turns out to be a rip-off. At the entrance there was an unfriendly greeting from the young man behind the counter, then self-service for food, but the prices were already very demanding - a piece of cake was 5 euros. It tasted like it came from the frozen section of a well-known confectioner who produces mass-produced goods and was actually still partially frozen in the middle. Such prices are offered in Düsseldorf in renowned pastry shops, where the piece of cake is served at the table and not maneuvered around the shop by your own hand. He ordered Cocoa arrived long after the cake was eaten and was dumped on the table by the handles (!) (4 cups). Unfortunately, that was anything but convincing and absolutely reduces the likelihood of further visits.

Cool restaurant right on the promenade and with a view of the sea. The selection of food and drinks is diverse. The service is good and the atmosphere is cozy.

Wow, friendliness is at the very top here. A quick look around the restaurant and everything was really nice. The view outside is simply great. Inside it is simply beautiful and relaxed. SB at its best. Excellent food, kids look forward to the fries. Be careful, addictive. Really classy. Of course, there are full points for the food, drinks and the super-friendly service. Burger top, rest flop. Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio for the food, apart from the burger, doesn't match at all. And then quoting such prices for a self-service restaurant is questionable. Conclusion: expensive fast food in a beautiful location.

We had a reservation for 7:30 p.m. However, the table was still occupied, which apparently was the case for many in the entrance area, as the very nice waitress, mind you, had problems accommodating everyone waiting. After waiting 20 minutes for our table to become available and queuing for another 20 minutes to order at the counter, we were informed that the dishes we wanted were no longer available. An hour and a half before closing time and the restaurant was full... Despite the obvious organizational problems, the staff were remarkably friendly and understanding. But the friendliness cannot make up for the poor organization of reservations and the lack of dishes. The failure of planning by the management of the restaurant ruined my evening.

A beautiful restaurant in the middle of the beach promenade. Super delicious food at very fair prices. It's worth a visit here. The atmosphere is very nice and the portions are perfectly fine.

My expectations were exceeded, especially for a bistro. We were here with 4 children and I am quite picky when it comes to food. Unfortunately, many of the restaurants were closed. That's why we ended up here. I was pleasantly surprised. A bistro doesn't need to offer more than that.

We ate here several times during our time on Wangerooge and tried a variety of things, from pizza to chili con carne, to cappuccino and waffles and everything was really tasty, warm and fairly priced. You have to order the food yourself at the counter using the table number and as soon as the pager vibrates you have to pick it up yourself. Drinks are brought to the table. Also worth mentioning are the cocktails, which are all offered for 6.90 euros and were also great.

It is a very nice place to stay. Modern, cozy and very nice staff. My matjes roll was also super tasty. I felt very comfortable all around.

Like many other restaurants here: Opening times and kitchen times unfortunately do not match Google or the homepage... Kitchen only until 7:00 p.m. What's so hard about updating this?

A self service restaurant but drinks are brought to the table. The ambience is nice. The fish was fried very well. After the meal the tables were wiped down immediately.

Very relaxed atmosphere. It's a self-service restaurant but you can only tell because you place your order at the counter, pay and then pick it up. Very nicely decorated. It is clear that, in addition to the delicious food, the guest should also have a pleasant stay. Friendly staff and a perfect location.

We vacation at the aparthotel 3-4 times a year and are always at the Friesenjunge! I would have given the ambience 5 stars if it wasn't disturbed by mothers with their children. The children use the restaurant as a playground and walk across the tables and benches without being observed or reprimanded in the least by their mothers or parents. So that you no longer understand your own words! But... the employees are extremely nice, courteous and do a great job! Especially now in November, when there are many restaurants available! You employees are great! Keep it up! And your boss can be really proud of you! I would still be happy to come back, if possible without children whose mothers don't care what their children do! Keep your nerves!

The food and cocktails are very good The waffle was inedible. Despite requests, the change was not checked and was given incorrectly. Children are probably only tolerated sitting still.

During our two-hour stay, we first ate really delicious burgers and fries with nuggets and drank delicious cocktails. Unfortunately, the waffle was baked too tightly and the children couldn't eat it all. A complaint would have taken too long for the children and created frustration. Unfortunately, there are few options for children to make their stay more attractive, for example with a small play area. Unfortunately, the children were restless at times. After we found something great to do for them, we were then expelled from the restaurant. “The tables are for eating and not for playing on/on, the noise, some of which comes from our small children, disturbs the other guests.” We left the restaurant quite upset because we had spent 2 hours eating there. And when we “disturbed” the children were sitting at the table playing with an adult.

We picked up food. One dish was wrong and the sauces were missing. We called several times from home - no one answered the phone. We didn't go there again because the kitchen was closed anyway and otherwise the rest of the food would have gotten cold. The next day we wanted to go back at lunchtime to eat. We mentioned that we had been given the wrong food the night before. We were not offered a solution - not even a coffee on the house or an apology. According to the service staff, we ate the food, so it was our "mistake". We then agreed that we would no longer order food from Friesenjung or go there. The only points are for the location.

The food here is very tasty. Self-service works very well with the pagers. Very good price/performance ratio for the island. Clear recommendation from me.

“Hot food continuously until 8 p.m.” and then sending the employees home so early that by the end there was nothing hot left! Very embarrassing, next time we'll go somewhere else!

Good breakfast for a moderate price

Solid family restaurant in a top location with reasonable prices and a nice atmosphere. Absolutely recommended for burgers and fries; For coffee & cake, cocktails and more unusual dishes, there are better locations on the island 😉 I would find it innovative if you could order from your seat using an app or something similar. A “burger of the week” and homemade fry sauce, for example, would greatly enhance the offer.

Are back in Friesenjung today. The gyros is not comparable to a Greek. More like carving meat. I wouldn't eat it again. Goulash soup, chili con carne and spaghetti with grilled vegetables were tasty. We think the ambience is very good, the food and service only receive 3 stars.

The Kibberlings were a blast. With the fries and the aioli, wonderful. Anytime again 👍

Of course you have to like the self-service concept, we found it okay. The location is of course great, otherwise the ambience and the food itself are solid, but nothing more.

The location of the restaurant with a direct view of the North Sea is great. There is enough seating outside and it is modernly furnished. Unfortunately, the menu is only available as a QR code, and a special app is required to access it. The burgers are good, the fish sandwiches are not recommended (significantly more tartar sauce than necessary) nothing special. It's a shame that the prices are self-service and only the drinks are brought.

Cheap and good, great cocktails (the cheapest on the island) and nice staff. We'd love to come back.

We always stop there when we are on Wangerooge. Lots of seating inside and outside with sea views. Great location. Many delicious dishes and, among other things, cocktails on the menu (6.90 euros). Friendly staff, nice atmosphere.

The food here is very good and tastes appropriate. The service at the checkout was very nice. Service at the table (outside area) is only available for drinks, food must be picked up yourself, you will receive a padger as a notification. There is a QR code printed on the tables that takes you to an app. After two registrations and a clearly confusing interface, we eventually found the local page in the app where maintenance work was advertised... We are 4 people aged 25-28. In the best case scenario, simplify the app/make it yourself (no third-party provider) or get rid of it. All in all, it was still very nice here.

Always good for years. Daughter's birthday dinner. Waited 15 minutes for food until we were allowed to get it. Price and service great. Large tasty portions.

We had a cocktail outside on the promenade. You had to get this yourself, so I can't say much about the service. The cocktail was super tasty (Pina Colada). It was a great jar for a really good price! You really can't complain about that. You sit either in beach chairs or on wooden furniture with cushions - with a view of the sea 🌊 Then a delicious cocktail - what more could you want?!

Tastes great. The ambience with the beach chairs right on the promenade with a view of the sunset in the evening was great. The bartenders are friendly and always open to good humor, but I personally find the lack of table service a major drawback, which for me only brings the overall rating to 3.5 stars. With table service it would definitely be 4.8 - 5.0 stars.

System catering in the first row of the beach. Here you pay for the great location and the view. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is below average and at a poor snack bar level. Far too expensive for that. We had burgers, fries, pizza and fried fish and can't recommend it. If you just want to drink coffee and look at the sea, this may be the right place for you, but you should eat somewhere else.

We would like to hold part of our wedding celebration in Friesenjung. Unfortunately, it is not possible to contact us by email or telephone. Even the address provided two months ago with a telephone number, email address and a request for a call back, which we were promised, has not yet resulted in us being able to speak to the CEO or an authorized representative. Maybe one of those responsible will check the mailbox, the phone or see if they can find the note...

Unfortunately, our visit to Friesen-Jung yesterday was disappointing. You have to get the food self-service and the drinks are brought to the table. The service is very young and inexperienced. For the price, the quality of the food wasn't good either. It tastes and looks like frozen food, there are fries with everything, but you still have to buy ketchup and mayonnaise for €0.50. The atmosphere inside was hot and loud. Very expensive and uncomfortable. Feels like a tourist trap and cash grab!

We stayed at Friesenjung several times during our vacation. The dishes, burgers, salad, fries, were very tasty. The service is a bit complicated, unfortunately the QR code that is on the tables doesn't work, so you have to order at the drinks stand or directly in the restaurant. The preparation of the food takes a long time as standard. You can then pick them up at the counter with a beeper. In terms of price, we were very impressed with the restaurant, as it is located on the promenade and is really humane. True to the motto Wangerooge, a family island. Unfortunately, you can't usually order anything, so it makes sense to plan in advance what you want to eat and drink. A repeat order on our part was only possible if we paid for the first order, which we subsequently denied.

Coffee inedible and service staff incredibly unfriendly

I ate here several times during my stay on Wangerooge and I have absolutely no complaints. Due to the size of the restaurant, you can always find a place for yourself even as a solo traveler, and the view of the beach and the sea is also very beautiful. When it comes to eating, breakfast for €19.50 is certainly a steep price, but then you eat a lot so you don't feel hungry again until the evening. The dinner, pizza and burgers as well as waffles with ice cream as a dessert, tasted very good and I never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for my food (advantage of a solo traveler?) until I could pick it up. So I would happily eat here again at any time.

We went on an island trip and had lunch here. Self-service... you order and pay, you get a buzzer. When the food is ready you can get it at the food counter. The drinks are brought to the table by the staff. The quality of the food was okay but there was still room for improvement. Beautiful location directly on the promenade with a view of the North Sea.

Unfortunately 100% disappointing. I had a large mixed salad for €10.50 and it only consisted of 2 slices of cucumber, 3 slices of tomatoes and a few tiny pieces of pepper and about 10 leaves of lettuce. Unfortunately, it wasn't washed thoroughly and was grinding between its teeth. The garlic bread for €7.30 was two pieces of baguette with a little garlic. The salad garnish with the baguette was also not washed and was completely wilted and old at the edges. My children and my husband each had burgers for just under €10. The patties were frozen and the buns were ready-made. The fries cost another €4.50, plus €0.50 for mayo or ketchup. My son's burger came with a long brown hair and when my husband picked up the food half of it was missing. Unfortunately, for a self-service restaurant with a waiting time of over 50 minutes and the pricing, the food was not recommended at all.

If you would like to wait 1.5 hours for a simple order (burger and fries, to pick up yourself), this is the right place for you...

Price performance fits. The food was very tasty. We also enjoyed going there in the evening and having a drink.

When we asked for gluten-free food, this was rejected very rudely and said that we couldn't afford it. Not nice for people who have to live with this intolerance. The service at the checkout became increasingly unfriendly. A pity !! Not a good figurehead for this store

Unfortunately, there are a few people in the restaurant service who are very unfriendly and have little interest in the well-being of their guests.

In my opinion, a real disgrace. Prices are high - and yet you have to order drinks at the counter and then pick everything up yourself. Sometimes we waited 10 minutes (!) to order. Of course one was gone for 10 minutes and the snake. The food was cooled down to be suitable for small children. The fried fish looked like it came from a 100-count bag from Metro. Poorly heated... also an imposition. Holidaymakers who work hard all year round come to this island and are (in my personal opinion) brazenly milked... I find that really shameful and I don't understand why the place is so full.... probably only holidaymakers who, like us, were on Wangerooge for the first and last time...

Wanted to drink East Frisian tea, got hot water and a tea bag. I also drink something like that in southern Germany. I was a bit disappointed, I was expecting open tea in Friesland.

We have been loyal guests at Friesenjung for years. Every holiday we eat there several times. It's perfect if you want to eat something average and great for a quiet hour. You don't have any stress or get sent away. You order your food at the counter and then you get a beeping thing. It's relatively quick, about 10-20 minutes at most. I am appalled by the negative comments. I can reassure you all, go to Friesenjung and have a great time! 😍

Why are some people served and others have to do self-service? That would be my question here

Family was there during the bad times. Meal took 50 minutes. Gyros were cold, drinks were warm [beer]. Kitchen was totally overwhelmed. Spending via the Rappelkiste only worked if asked. Sorry, we won't be back.🐝

An impersonal fast food restaurant with average quality food. You could look at it as a replacement for McDonald's, then the food would be equally good but much cheaper. Nevertheless, you go because the location and view are simply priceless.

The food was good, you could also sit well, but it smelled like vomit and ruined the evening a little! You had to wait 45 minutes for the food and there were people waiting next to the tables the whole time who wanted cocktails.

I actually think the restaurant is a bit expensive because there is hardly any staff that needs to be paid. The gyro special was quite tasty but the burger was terrible. Ready-made patties have no place in a restaurant and €10.50 without fries is steep. The drinks were okay but overall we were a bit disappointed.

Wir waren in unserer Wangeroogewoche mehrfach zur Kaffeezeit dort. Gegessen haben wir nicht, die Speisen sahen alle gut aus, die Preisgestaltung ist zu anderen Lokalen auf der Insel als fair zu bezeichnen. Das trifft auch bei den Cocktails zu. Preislich im Rahmen, schmackhaft. Zum dort trinken oder zu mitnehmen. Überteuert fanden wir die alkoholfreien Cocktails und die verschiedenen Eistees. Bei den vielen Menschen die hier tagtäglich ein- und ausgehen sauber und ordentlich. Das Personal durchweg freundlich.

Supposedly open according to Google. Nobody has answered the phone for weeks. No response to emails. Outdated posts on social media. That doesn't work at all.

Actually well located, right on the beach. Three people, three different cocktails, unfortunately no cocktail was convincing. What bothered us the most were the cocktails to go. A lot of plastic waste is produced there, which is an absolute NO GO on an island. Too bad

Nice breakfast buffet. The offering ranges from bread and rolls to scrambled eggs, fried sausages and baked tomatoes, to various muesli ingredients, to yoghurt, fruit salad and even cakes. Tea, coffee and various fruit juices are included.

The location close to the beach is great and the staff is very friendly. The prices are fair, although convenience products are used. The dishes in the mid-price segment are completely ok, but the portions of the more expensive dishes are quite small and, in my opinion, overpriced. When visiting the beach you can recommend the restaurant for small snacks (pizza, pasta, fish & chips, chilli con carne,...).

Since our "big one" always wants a burger, we come here more often because it's still affordable here ;) It's also delicious, as are fries and various pasta dishes. Spaghetti was always al dente, which is not a given. There are certainly better burgers, but this one is good and great for the price! They are friendly here too… Addendum: deducted one star because today we had fried potatoes, which are not. They are fried potato slices. There was also remoulade for the fried fish in disposable plastic bowls and ketchup and mayo were available in plastic bags (like at Pirate). Please invest in ceramic or glass bowls and save waste. And nerves when the bag doesn't want to be torn open and then tears, but half the ketchup ends up on the t-shirt and pants 🙈 If you sit outside: watch out for seagulls and jackdaws! They also grab fries from behind your hand while flying! And when you sit between the parasols, make sure that there are no bird droppings on, under, at the table/seat and that no bird sits on top and gets on the tray/into the food or on your clothes!! I was “hit on” 4 times, I smeared myself with bird droppings at the table, they pooped on the tray and when I wanted to scare a bird away, I hit it with my hand 😂😜 If that’s lucky, I definitely should Go play the lottery 😜 Feel free to make a reservation in the evening! Otherwise you have to sit outside ;)
