Great view, delicious cocktails

Unfortunately, the Frisian boys took my beer. I was just using the restroom. What a pity.

The food is good, but not good value for money, especially the drinks. Friendly, fast service. Restaurants need to pay attention to their prices. This is our fourth time on Wangerooge, but we've never eaten out as rarely as this time.

The cocktails here are incredibly delicious. Otherwise, the restaurant has a slight McDonald's feel, only with better food quality and a nicer interior. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. However, due to the self-service and the sticky tables (seat reservations are apparently marked with stickers, so the sticky residue remains on the table), some of the menus need replacing, as they're a bit dirty in places. The outdoor seating is particularly pleasant, and the interior is also very nicely decorated.

A great restaurant right on Wangerooge's promenade. Whether morning, lunch, or dinner, the Friesenjung is always open and always good. We've eaten and drunk there every time of year. We especially want to mention the delicious and plentiful breakfast. At €19.50 including all drinks, it's a great deal for anyone who wants to start the day with a direct view of the North Sea.

Nice shop in a great location. Fair value for money. The drinks are great. The food leaves a lot to be desired in terms of quality and takes a really long time to arrive. It might be okay for a solo or couple, but there's no point in going there with a large group.

Great location right on the beach. Order at the cash register, and drinks are then brought to your table. You pick up your food yourself when the timer goes off. Pizza, burgers, schnitzel, and cocktails (also available to go on the beach) are all very good. The spaghetti is also available in a children's portion. The tables could be cleaned a bit more quickly by the staff.

I can recommend the Friesenjung restaurant; we had a great meal there. The pizza margarita and one with mushrooms were delicious, the crust was very good, and they were big enough too. And Jever is delicious anyway. And you can sit on the promenade there. Nice in a beach chair or under a parasol. All in all, very good.

The drinks are great, and the value is okay. Unfortunately, the food can't keep up; the portions are a bit small and the wait times are quite long. There were seven people, and the first few had already finished by the time the last ones got their food. It's a shame.

The staff is very friendly. The burgers are good, but the cocktails are especially recommendable and really large. A special recommendation: the sea buckthorn mojito!

Super-friendly service, even when it's busy. Delicious pizza and the salad with mango chili sauce and chicken breast are especially recommended. Friesenjung...an absolute must for us on Wangerooge.

Located right on the beach. We enjoyed juicy burgers, romantic cocktails in a beach chair at sunset, and an extensive breakfast buffet (including Wi-Fi) on our departure day to sweeten the time until our departure. We've been there three times in five days, and it was a complete success three times.

A nice self-service concept. Some dishes are disproportionately expensive, but most things are affordable.

Perfect for families. Plenty of seating and, above all, a wide selection of food for all ages. It was delicious, fast, and very comfortable. We'll be back.

The restaurant boasts the best location and a fantastic sea view. The food and wait times are average at best.

What nonsense. A two-hour wait, poor service. We walked into the store with a clear conscience and high expectations for the food, which was also good. The first drawback was ordering and picking up the food ourselves, which would have been fine if it were a small fast-food joint. We ordered at 7:45 p.m. and received our food at 10 p.m. The unfriendly cashier then tried to justify herself and tell us we were the stupid ones. In retrospect, we sat there for three hours and had to wait languidly for the food. As an apology, they gave each person a free beer at the end, but that doesn't justify the wait. If the store is empty, it's worth considering, but if it's full, you shouldn't try it.

Even after 20 minutes, unfortunately, there were still no drinks. When asked, the table couldn't be found...

Highly recommended: friendly and well-organized team, delicious food, and a great location—simply pleasant both inside and out.

Lunch was delicious, with pizza, burgers, or currywurst, for example. The coffee, cake, and tarts were also delicious. And in the evening, there were delicious drinks, including non-alcoholic drinks. My children love the food too, and they're still small and don't like everything. As a family, we were always very satisfied!

The food is tasty and the portions are adequate. Drinks are okay, and the cocktails range from adequate to good, depending on the staff. Nice view and pleasant atmosphere, but unfortunately, the restrooms were of the lowest standard (toilet paper was unrolled next to the toilet, and a toilet roll was stuck on the exit handle) and hadn't been cleaned in at least a day. This needs to be improved; use may be subject to a fee.

Great self-service restaurant right on the beach promenade with a fantastic sea view. A large selection of food – the burgers and fish dishes are particularly good, prices are reasonable, and service is friendly, though a bit slow during peak times. Some of the food is frozen, but overall, the food is solid. Ideal for a relaxing stopover on Wangerooge.

Completely overcrowded at peak times, despite pagers being handed out, people are pushing and shoving like crazy at the food counter.

Significantly improved. You can always find a spot, and it's very relaxed and easygoing with children. We had a lovely few days here.

We've been there repeatedly for both breakfast and dinner over the years. The location is naturally unique and always a great choice when the weather is nice. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and service has noticeably declined over the years.

Delicious cocktails, friendly staff, service—okay, it's a self-service restaurant. When you order food, you get a pager that lets you know when your food is ready. The view over the sea is beautiful, especially in the dark. You can sit either directly on the promenade on benches or beach chairs, or under umbrellas on benches a little further away from the dunes. We ordered salmon with cherry tomatoes, crab sandwiches, and a pizza margherita. There were also various cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Beer lovers should check beforehand which of the mobile bars has the beer taps, as the other one only serves bottled beer. We always go to the Friesenjung when we're on W'ooge.

Nice self-service restaurant (only 3 stars for the service) with good food. I recommend sitting in a beach chair in front of the restaurant and enjoying the view of the North Sea while you dine, especially at sunset.

If the place is empty, I'd be happy to, STAY AWAY!!!! 1.5 hours of waiting with two small children, sorry, a no-go! Pizza arrives after 20 minutes! The rest waits another hour! After 1.5 hours, the rest arrives, the wrong burger, of course... Oh well... The kid ran out of ketchup, waited in line for another 15 minutes... A completely wrong system! Tables can only be booked at 5 or 7 p.m., and then you can't handle the rush! Not a recommendation, and never again!

Pleasant atmosphere with a great view of the promenade and the sea. Unfortunately, our little girl's food took a lot longer to arrive, but it was delicious. The burgers and salad are especially recommended. Definitely a lovely and highly recommended restaurant with an outdoor terrace and bar.

At the "Friesenjung," you'll find an appealing selection of food and drinks at almost any time of day, inside and outside, sometimes in beach chairs, sometimes with music. The staff is helpful, and some have been there for years. You order at the counter or at the bar outside, and you can take your drinks with you. You receive a guest pager for your ordered food, which you can then pick up inside. You sometimes have to watch out for cheeky birds who especially like to steal fries... 😅

Friesenjung on Wangerooge – Sea View, Good Food & a Touch of Improvised Charm As long-time Wangerooge fans (for over 15 years!), we know the island inside and out – and the Friesenjung, right on the beach promenade, is one of the places we love to stop by again and again. Whether for a relaxed lunchtime snack, a slice of cake in the afternoon, a cocktail at sunset, or dinner with the sound of the sea – the restaurant is versatile and rightly popular. Location & Atmosphere The location impresses with its modern, cozy, maritime-inspired decor in a coastal style – new, yet relaxed. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options, depending on the weather and your mood. And the view is unbeatable: Located directly on the promenade, with an unobstructed view of the North Sea and the ships on the horizon. If you love eating while enjoying the wind and waves, this is the place for you. Food & Drink We've tried our way through the menu over the years – and can honestly say: We've enjoyed everything so far. The pizza is crispy, the burgers juicy, the fries as they should be, the cake is fresh, the cocktails delicious, and the homemade iced tea is truly refreshing – even if it's not Michelin-starred cuisine, but rather honest, good coastal bistro food. However, fries don't automatically come with the burgers. One small drawback: The ice cream machine seems to have its own internal workings – unfortunately, the beloved chocolate milkshake wasn't always available. And: Since the pizza chef and chef apparently work separately, we've sometimes found that our two pizzas were ready 15 minutes before the burger and pasta – which unfortunately led to slightly different food. Better coordination would be desirable – or at least a reminder when ordering. Ordering Concept Here, the motto is: "You're the guest." You order at the front counter, receive a pager that vibrates as soon as the food is ready, and then pick it up yourself. The concept is appropriate for a restaurant of this type. Cocktails and drinks are brought to your table (inside). The staff is generally friendly, but of course, things can get hectic when the place is full (and that's often the case here in the evenings). If you're looking for absolute relaxation during peak season, bring that with you – or just look out at the sea; that always helps anyway. Conclusion The Friesenjung is a firm anchor on Wangerooge – modern, delicious, and reliable. If you're looking for a beach view, uncomplicated food, and a relaxed atmosphere, you'll be happy here. Minor lapses in timing and service are easily compensated for with a touch of sea air. And if the ice machine breaks down again – luckily there's still homemade iced tea available.

Wir waren mit 5 Personen zum Essen da. Das Essen war gut. Um 21:40 h wollten wir noch eine Runde Cocktails bestellen. Uns wurde dann kurz und knapp mitgeteilt, daß die Kasse schon geschlossen sei... Es gab keinerlei Info über Öffnungszeiten, geschweige denn einen Tipp, daß man letzte Bestellungen plazieren möge :-( Ein etwas mysteriöser Umgang mit Gästen!!!

We come here for dinner several times during our stay. The concept is especially suited to people who like to have some peace and quiet while eating. The view is great and the food is delicious.

Great breakfast at Friesenjung! I just had breakfast here – buffet for €19.50 – and it's absolutely fantastic! Huge selection: various rolls and breads, fresh vegetables, salads, cold cuts, cheese, scrambled eggs, sausages, boiled eggs… Plus jams, yogurt, muesli – and even cakes and croissants! Coffee and juices are included, too. The service is super friendly and cheerful. You feel really comfortable here. I'll definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Cozy bistro-style location with a great sea view and a huge outdoor area. Unfortunately, the fried fish wasn't quite my cup of tea; it seemed to have been frozen, but the rice pudding with fruit compote was all the better, and the sea buckthorn mojito was delicious. Drinks can be ordered at your table using a QR code and will be brought to you. Food must be ordered at the counter, and you'll receive a beeper. When the beeper goes off, you have to pick up the food yourself, so the service deducted points.

Great atmosphere when you can sit outside in wonderful weather. Staff super friendly.

Super! The location is modernized and the acoustics are pleasant even at moderate occupancy, so that your own conversations can be conducted and understood undisturbed. It also offers a wonderful view of the sea. The drinks and food are not only delicious for the price, but are also prepared quickly. We were there with 9 people. We ALL received our food at the same time and every dish was on point and warm! Not many restaurants can do that. In order to order drinks and food, as well as to receive the food, you have to go to the service and clear your table yourself, BUT, this is forgotten when you leave the Friesenjungs and is simply of no importance. By the way, drinks are brought to the table. So I can really only recommend it. If you don't go, it's your own fault.

Great view over the sea from the beach chair. Very relaxing. Self-service food. Table service with drinks. Unfortunately the Virgin Colada was a disaster - far too much syrup... we tried it once and then left the glass full (6.50 euros). The cake was thawed frozen goods - nothing special and too expensive. The herring roll was swimming in tartar sauce. One wonders...why? It's actually that simple. Service behind the counter at the checkout was unmotivated. Friendly face nil. Conclusion: Great view and good for a break with a coffee or cold drink. However, you can safely leave out the above-mentioned dishes.

Good food with a view of the sea... The process is a bit unusual. Drinks can be ordered at the table and will also be brought to the table. The food, however, must be ordered at the counter and picked up by guests at the food counter. The atmosphere is cozy and the location is of course great. You eat with a view of the sea. The food was very tasty (spaghetti with salmon fillet, rocket and parmesan; barbeque burger with fries; pork schnitzel "Viennese style" with mushroom cream sauce and fries) Definitely worth a visit.

Poor quality. Lots of frozen goods. Baked fish e.g. frozen baked fish and a few fries >16€ is not justified. Especially since there is no service. Collect your own food and set the tables yourself. Price/performance doesn't fit. To go out for a drink okay. You can cook better at home, it works better there.

A good view of the sea. The food and cocktails are worth the price. The beer would get five delicious stars from me. Unfortunately it is very noisy. The food could be picked up quickly.

The food was excellent, but unfortunately the staff, apart from the older employee at the checkout, obviously didn't feel like it. Dish trolleys are pushed into the kitchen with constant, loud shouting. It's a shame for the actually good ambience.

Quick meals for in between meals.

Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants because it is very cozy and, above all, the people always taste great!

The Friesenjung is a pleasant, tasty alternative to the "lavish hotel buffet", for families, couples and singles, located directly by the sea. Today I was there for the 5th time and again very satisfied!

We were really extremely satisfied with our visit to Friesenjung. The service was very friendly. We each ordered pizza, which was ready very quickly and tasted above average for us. All at reasonable prices. There was also the tart and delicious house pilsner on tap. Afterwards there were two rounds of cocktails, which weren't exactly from bad parents either. Also, at €6.90 per drink, the price is reasonable. Card payment is possible. The ambience is chic and modern with down-to-earth details such as fruit crates mounted upside down on the ceiling. We would come back at any time and can highly recommend the store.

Unfortunately not a recommendation if you want to eat pizza. Fat oozed and dripped. Actually the pizza only consisted of thin dough and cheese. I returned the pizza and said that I hadn't had something so bad in a long time. Unfortunately the only response was an “OK”. That's weak.

At Friesenjunge you have a fairly diverse selection and the staff is friendly. In addition to a few salads and fish, there are mainly burgers and pizza. Taste ok, but nothing special. The atmosphere is quite nice. Important - the kitchen closes at around 7 p.m., after that there are only drinks. On the other hand, it's more comfortable to sit because it suddenly becomes quieter in the hall. 😉

Looks very chic and trendy - unfortunately some of it turns out to be a rip-off. At the entrance there was an unfriendly greeting from the young man behind the counter, then self-service for food, but the prices were already very demanding - a piece of cake was 5 euros. It tasted like it came from the frozen section of a well-known confectioner who produces mass-produced goods and was actually still partially frozen in the middle. Such prices are offered in Düsseldorf in renowned pastry shops, where the piece of cake is served at the table and not maneuvered around the shop by your own hand. He ordered Cocoa arrived long after the cake was eaten and was dumped on the table by the handles (!) (4 cups). Unfortunately, that was anything but convincing and absolutely reduces the likelihood of further visits.

Wow, friendliness is at the very top here. A quick look around the restaurant and everything was really nice. The view outside is simply great. Inside it is simply beautiful and relaxed. SB at its best. Excellent food, kids look forward to the fries. Be careful, addictive. Really classy. Of course, there are full points for the food, drinks and the super-friendly service. Burger top, rest flop. Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio for the food, apart from the burger, doesn't match at all. And then quoting such prices for a self-service restaurant is questionable. Conclusion: expensive fast food in a beautiful location.

We had a reservation for 7:30 p.m. However, the table was still occupied, which apparently was the case for many in the entrance area, as the very nice waitress, mind you, had problems accommodating everyone waiting. After waiting 20 minutes for our table to become available and queuing for another 20 minutes to order at the counter, we were informed that the dishes we wanted were no longer available. An hour and a half before closing time and the restaurant was full... Despite the obvious organizational problems, the staff were remarkably friendly and understanding. But the friendliness cannot make up for the poor organization of reservations and the lack of dishes. The failure of planning by the management of the restaurant ruined my evening.

My expectations were exceeded, especially for a bistro. We were here with 4 children and I am quite picky when it comes to food. Unfortunately, many of the restaurants were closed. That's why we ended up here. I was pleasantly surprised. A bistro doesn't need to offer more than that.

A beautiful restaurant in the middle of the beach promenade. Super delicious food at very fair prices. It's worth a visit here. The atmosphere is very nice and the portions are perfectly fine.

We ate here several times during our time on Wangerooge and tried a variety of things, from pizza to chili con carne, to cappuccino and waffles and everything was really tasty, warm and fairly priced. You have to order the food yourself at the counter using the table number and as soon as the pager vibrates you have to pick it up yourself. Drinks are brought to the table. Also worth mentioning are the cocktails, which are all offered for 6.90 euros and were also great.

It is a very nice place to stay. Modern, cozy and very nice staff. My matjes roll was also super tasty. I felt very comfortable all around.

Very relaxed atmosphere. It's a self-service restaurant but you can only tell because you place your order at the counter, pay and then pick it up. Very nicely decorated. It is clear that, in addition to the delicious food, the guest should also have a pleasant stay. Friendly staff and a perfect location.

We vacation at the aparthotel 3-4 times a year and are always at the Friesenjunge! I would have given the ambience 5 stars if it wasn't disturbed by mothers with their children. The children use the restaurant as a playground and walk across the tables and benches without being observed or reprimanded in the least by their mothers or parents. So that you no longer understand your own words! But... the employees are extremely nice, courteous and do a great job! Especially now in November, when there are many restaurants available! You employees are great! Keep it up! And your boss can be really proud of you! I would still be happy to come back, if possible without children whose mothers don't care what their children do! Keep your nerves!

The food and cocktails are very good The waffle was inedible. Despite requests, the change was not checked and was given incorrectly. Children are probably only tolerated sitting still.

During our two-hour stay, we first ate really delicious burgers and fries with nuggets and drank delicious cocktails. Unfortunately, the waffle was baked too tightly and the children couldn't eat it all. A complaint would have taken too long for the children and created frustration. Unfortunately, there are few options for children to make their stay more attractive, for example with a small play area. Unfortunately, the children were restless at times. After we found something great to do for them, we were then expelled from the restaurant. “The tables are for eating and not for playing on/on, the noise, some of which comes from our small children, disturbs the other guests.” We left the restaurant quite upset because we had spent 2 hours eating there. And when we “disturbed” the children were sitting at the table playing with an adult.
