All in all, a lovely visit. The phone reservation went smoothly, but we spontaneously sat outside under a patio heater. There are plenty of blankets, and dogs are allowed outside. Drinks arrived quickly, and the servers were very prompt and friendly. My husband's and my meal (steak) was truly delicious. According to the other guests, the schnitzel and fries were rather bland and more like fast-food restaurants—but then, you can't handle such a large number of guests otherwise. The price was absolutely reasonable (€200 for 6 people), and we had a fantastic view of the promenade.

Five of us are seated at a very small, round table; we could hardly move while eating. The steak tasted of fish; we complained but were given a steak that was thickly covered in peppercorns. We have been regular customers at the restaurant for three years. When we wanted to reserve a table by phone three days later and asked for a larger table, we were told there wasn't one. We said we would get back to you and call again straight away. When we called again, we were told, "Tough luck, there are no more tables." We said on the phone that they had lost regular customers and that they could handle that. The people here treat customers very friendly; I would not recommend them. I hope that all customers who are not satisfied don't go back. The restaurant has changed since the renovation; perhaps there is new management; I would say it has been a bad run.

We've always eaten well in Timmendorf. But this restaurant was a solid 1. Thank you very much.

The food was generally delicious, but the gentleman who greeted and served us (we later learned he was the owner) had an incredibly annoying demeanor. The menu is never updated. I found a huge hair in my fries, and he didn't even apologize. I will never go back and won't recommend it to anyone. Actually: Your misleading response could affect future customers. The gentleman never apologized, and he never asked if I wanted a new portion.

We visited here twice in one week, and that speaks for itself. The taste and service are excellent. The price is reasonable for the region and completely reasonable. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, I know where we'll go. Thanks for the two lovely evenings.

We stayed at Filou Timmendorfer Strand and we'll definitely be back! From the moment we arrived, we immediately felt welcome. The atmosphere is cozy, the team warm and attentive, and you can tell the passion for cooking and serving here. We had Königsberger Klopse (a kind of meatball), leg of lamb with rosemary sauce, and a children's schnitzel with potatoes for our daughter. Everything was fresh, lovingly prepared, and incredibly delicious. The wine, the service, and the friendly waitress made the evening perfect. A great restaurant for couples and families. We loved it and will definitely be back!

Food so far, good!!! What I personally don't like is the rather cold female waitress, with her braided hair and dark hair. A smile never hurt anyone, and it would certainly have a positive effect on the tip. The truly friendliest and most attentive waiter is the tall gentleman.

We got a table outside, which was a decent ambiance. The heaters are standard but very bright. The service was very friendly; there was nothing to complain about. I was less satisfied with the food, however. The schnitzel with mushrooms in cream simply wasn't good enough for the price of €23.50. Overall, it was okay. The sauce with the mushrooms was okay, the schnitzel was rather small in comparison, and the fries tasted like I would make them myself in the oven. I wasn't satisfied for the price. The other dish (salmon duet), on the other hand, was very tasty, but not particularly good for the price. Overall, the service and the fish were good, but the rest was average, so unfortunately, it only gets 3 stars.

Arrogant and rude! My friends and I (there were four of us) wanted to eat there. The employee or owner saw us and said, "Pick a seat." We had already noticed that it was full outside and just wanted to ask if we could sit inside. However, since he was annoyed by our presence and wondered if we couldn't see that it was full, we left. Truly unacceptable behavior.

This was our first time at Filou—but definitely not our last. The house-cured salmon as a starter was fantastic. For the main course, the cod in panko breading and the homemade pickled beef were simply delicious. We highly recommend the Merlot Rose from our own experience 😉 The team is very friendly and professional. We'd be happy to come back.

Three of us came here for lunch and sat outside, which is beautifully decorated. Friendly and clean. The service was very good. We were offered the daily specials, and changes to our orders, such as more vegetables/salad than potatoes, were accommodated. The food was very tasty and arrived quickly; three servers served us simultaneously. The taste was very good. We had rump steak, Königsberger Klopse (a kind of meatball), and sauerfleisch (a kind of pork sausage). The service during the meal was also excellent. While clearing the table, a delicious dessert was pointed out, and one or two were recommended, so we treated ourselves to fresh strawberries. All in all, a very good stop. We can highly recommend it.

A very nice restaurant in Timmendorfer Strand. There's plenty of space both inside and outside. The beach isn't far away. The service is very attentive and friendly. The menu is very good and offers a wide selection. They even offer a lunch menu on weekends. We opted for the Pannfisch (pan-fried fish) for €26.50 and the Königsberger Klopse (fried meatballs) for €21.50. Both were very tasty and filling. The 0.5-liter Büble Hefeweizen on tap and the 0.4-liter Alster beer each cost €5.90. Highly recommended.

Good cuisine at moderate prices.

Very tasty and a nice selection of different dishes, including for children. It's not exactly cheap, but as we discovered, nowhere else in Timmendorfer Strand is that cheap.

Four of us went there for dinner. The children each received a notebook and pens, a wonderful touch! Blankets are provided, perfect for a rainy German summer. The service was also very friendly and attentive. Wait times were absolutely fine. We really enjoyed the food; we had the Timmendorfer pannfisch (pan-fish). Perhaps they should point out outside that there's a separate children's menu. We only read something about a discount for young people's portions, which would have been too much for our toddlers, and we almost moved on. Maybe we just didn't find the information. We would love to come back.

We were here for lunch. The small salmon salad was too small in my opinion. Otherwise, everything was fine. Fast service and good food. The portion size and value for money are debatable when it comes to the salad. They have a very good children's menu with coloring books and crayons. A beautiful location with a view of the beach promenade.

In the evening, eleven of us had dinner on the covered and now beautifully modernized terrace. As always, the service was excellent and extremely attentive, the food was delicious and served almost simultaneously, and all at absolutely fair prices. Filou has been a consistently good choice for decades, without the quality outliers that you often find in other restaurants in the summer.

Timmendorf's "big players" are located right next to the spa gardens. There's always something going on at Filou. The busiest hours are around 6 p.m. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. Prices are typical for a tourist hotspot.

We spontaneously wanted to hold a family celebration for about 30 guests. We received excellent advice during the organization (over the phone), and everyone was happy at the celebration itself! The service and food were excellent!

The food was good. The dishes could have used more mayo. Personally, I always find it annoying when there's not enough mayo with my schnitzel and fries. I also think the price (€23.90; as of July 2025) for a schnitzel is too high.

We actually went there twice today. At lunchtime for a piece of cake and coffee, and in the evening for a delicious meal. Both times were really great! It was relatively cool, and the heaters could have been turned on. The service staff were a little overwhelmed. At least, that's how it seemed. The food was very tasty. However, I ordered a Coca-Cola and got a Pepsi without any prior explanation. It just doesn't make sense. Otherwise, it was pretty good.

The service was friendly and tart, with a Frisian touch. Delicious food: jacket potatoes with turkey strips and herring. Large, tasty potatoes, good cream, and tender, tasty herring. We were well-fed. The good news: A complaint about a potato being only lukewarm was handled professionally. The plate came back perfect.

I visited the Filou restaurant with high expectations, but was unfortunately disappointed in several respects. While the location is beautiful and the atmosphere generally pleasant, that alone couldn't salvage the overall impression. The food was neither particularly fresh nor well-seasoned for my taste. What was particularly disappointing was that I had significant stomach upset afterward – something that shouldn't really happen in a restaurant in this price range. The drinks were okay, nothing more and nothing less. The staff was friendly and attentive in some areas, which I would like to emphasize – but service alone is, of course, not enough if the food isn't impressive. Overall, the value for money wasn't right for me. Given the number of good restaurants in the region, I would definitely choose a different place next time.

Unfortunately, they don't welcome seniors here, which is strange for Timmendorfer Strand. For my mother, who is unfortunately visibly seriously ill with cancer, there wasn't even a children's telker. With three full-paying guests, I would have preferred better service. That's a shame. Throwing away an entire meal just because you're not willing to provide a smaller portion for seniors is, in my opinion, short-sighted.

Service and food were very good. Since we were actually there at "coffee and cake time" and there were hardly any guests there, we thought we had done something wrong, mistake, everything was fine. Thumbs up!

Update: We were at Filou again yesterday. According to my review, the owner had already announced that the guest room would be modernized. In fact, the dining room now looks much nicer and the restaurant can switch to additional rooms in the evening if there is a lot of demand. For example, we sat in the beautifully decorated breakfast room of the hotel in the building. Now everything was perfect for us. The food was again excellent and the service was still top notch. An absolute recommendation for us. The Filou on the beach promenade particularly impresses with its incredibly friendly and attentive service. 6 stars would actually have been appropriate here. Our friendly service person, who is primarily responsible, always checked to see if there was anything left to be desired. When my mother wanted to make a seat cushion out of her jacket, she reacted immediately and brought us a seat cushion from outside. Your colleague brought a new knife immediately after we dropped a knife on the floor, and all the service staff were extremely polite. The food was also very good. Whether schnitzel or matjes, everything was very tasty. The prices are not cheap, however in the price level of the place. Only the ambience doesn't really match the quality of the food and this top service. It's quite cozy, but has something of a 90s pub feel to it. That's exactly why it's important to know. Don't be put off by the ambience, just stop by and enjoy.
