Restaurant Eule in Bayreuth

Unser Besuch im Restaurant „Zur Eule“ war leider enttäuschend. Nachdem die Hauptspeisen für meine Begleitung und mich kommentarlos serviert wurden, fragte ich höflich nach, ob der angekündigte Salat noch komme. Die Antwort der Bedienung lautete: „Wie Sie sehen, habe ich nur zwei Hände!“ – in einem Tonfall, der unangemessen war und sogar die Aufmerksamkeit der übrigen Gäste auf sich zog. Auch das Essen konnte leider nicht überzeugen. Das Schweinefilet „Eule“ für 25 € bestand aus drei dünnen Scheiben Filet mit Rahmsauce, Pilzen und Spätzle. Das Fleisch war sehr trocken und entsprach aus meiner Sicht weder qualitativ noch preislich den Erwartungen. Insgesamt war der Service unfreundlich und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis enttäuschend. Ich kann das Restaurant daher leider nicht empfehlen.

Sehr gemütlicher kleiner Biergarten, sehr nette Bedienung, extrem leckeres Essen- fast alle Essen auch als Seniorenportion güt 80 % des Preises.

Muss man unbedingt mal besucht haben. Das historische Gebäude ist ein Schmuckstück. Und Küche und Service top. Sehr zu empfehlen.

und haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Schon der Empfang war sehr freundlich und der Service blieb den ganzen Abend über aufmerksam, herzlich und angenehm unaufdringlich. Man merkt, dass hier Wert darauf gelegt wird, dass sich die Gäste willkommen fühlen. Das Essen war sehr lecker und schön angerichtet. Besonders gut gefallen hat uns die bodenständige, ehrliche Küche, die geschmacklich wirklich überzeugt hat. Die Portionen waren angenehm, alles wirkte frisch zubereitet und insgesamt sehr stimmig. Auch die Brotzeitplatte war liebevoll zusammengestellt und passte perfekt zu einem gemütlichen Abend. Ein besonderes Highlight ist das Ambiente im Garten. Man sitzt dort sehr schön, ruhig und entspannt, mit einer gemütlichen Atmosphäre, die den Besuch noch einmal besonders macht. Gerade an einem schönen Tag ist der Garten wirklich ein toller Ort, um in Ruhe zu essen und die Zeit zu genießen. Insgesamt eine klare Empfehlung: sehr netter Service, leckeres Essen und ein schönes, entspanntes Ambiente. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Wir hatten vor der Oper zu viert einen Tisch bestellt und sind sehr handfest aber auch freundlich bedient worden. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt.

Unglaublich unfreundliche und vorlaute Bedienung hab ich in Berlin genug, da erwarte ich in Bayern einfach bessere Leistung. Das Essen war leider ebenfalls unterdurchschnittlich, die veggie Optionen sind "nett gemeint". Man weiß was das bedeutet. Der Gastraum, voll gestellt mit Wagner Devotionalien, kann nicht über das altbackene Interieur hinwegtäuschen. You don't get a second chance on a first impression.

Super freundliche Bedienung in gemütlicher Atmosphäre, Auswahl von regionalen Produkten und Spezialitäten, Gute Auswahl an Bieren, Wein und Spirituosen. Momentan Spargel Saison. Knödel sehr empfehlenswert mit Hirschgulasch oder Sauerbraten.

Sauerbraten und Spargeln waren sehr lecker und das Drachenschnitzel ( Pute) genauso. Ambiente ist sehr schön . Wir haben eine Tisch auch ohne Reservierung bekommen gleich am Öffnungszeiten aber ich empfehle auf jeden Fall zum reservieren erst. :)

Wir hatten ein paar gemütliche Stunden in der Eule. Das Essen war unglaublich lecker, und vor allem schön heiß! Ich hatte das vegetarische Hacksteak. Große Empfehlung, sehr herzlicher Service. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Hatten eine Nacht in Bayreuth und waren spontan auf der Suche nach etwas bürgerlichem zu Essen. Sind dann Gott sei Dank in der Eule gelandet. Essen war super lecker und alles drumherum auch super herzlich. Unser kleiner Durfte sogar einen Blick in die Küche werfen - total lieb. Falls wir jemals wieder in Bayreuth sein sollten essen wir auf jeden Fall dort.

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant. Zentral in der schönen Altstadt meiner alten Universitätsstadt Bayreuth gelegen. Das historische Gebäude stammt bereits aus dem 15. Jahrhundert. Alles steht im Zeichen von Richard Wagner. Bereits der Meister selbst speiste dort. Die Speisekarte bietet zum Beispiel eine Nibelungenbrotzeit, ein vegetarisches Walkyrenschnitzel und ein Fafnir Schnitzel. Dieses ist jedoch, wohl auch Gründen des Tierschutzes nicht vom Lindwurm, sondern vom Schwäbisch-Hällischen Landschwein. Die Wände sind verziert mit Fotografien der Intendanten und Dirigenten der Wagner Festspiele. Das Restaurant ist definitiv auf charmante Art vom grünen Hügel gezeichnet. Der Wirt und das Personal sind sehr freundlich und sehr um den Gast bemüht. Obwohl ich erst zweimal dort war, werde ich mit Namen angesprochen. Sehr empfehlenswert. Sehr gutes Essen.

Waren gestern mit Freunden in der Eule. Für mich das erste Mal. Beim Chef des Hauses, Herrn Kaiser hatte ich vorher einen Tisch reserviert- was gut war. An diesem Abend war das Lokal voll belegt. Als Essen wählten wir 2x "Sentas Traum" (Zanderfilet), "Grüner Festspielhügel" (Kartoffelpuffer mit Gemüse) und "Eulen Schlemmerlendchen". Allen hat es sehr gut geschmeckt und das Ambiente und der Service einfach Spitze!👍

The food was delicious; if the server hadn't had such an unfriendly face, the meal and the stay would have been even better.

An exceptional restaurant with fantastic, delicious food and drinks. Not to mention the wine cellar with its unique ambiance. The owner, Harald Kaiser, is very charming and always has a story to tell. It's incredibly cozy, and the food is a must-try. A must for every visitor to Bayreuth. We'll be back soon.

Traditional, delicious, and simply good. I'd gladly go back. The starter soup, in particular, is a little highlight.

We ate a loin of pork for €24.00 (not the largest portion and overpriced for Bayreuth). Since we don't eat much, my wife asked for a "Räuberteller" (robber's plate) because she didn't want to order a portion herself. The owner charged €3.50 for an additional plate. No one had ever asked for that before. So, we're done with this place. However, my wife was allowed to use a cloth napkin to wipe her empty plate.

Terribly bad behavior. Still empty tables, and the waitress says, "No, I don't have time."

Wonderful experience! Arrived close to closing and welcomed. Mushrooms were the star but ribeye, pork, potatoes and spaetzle were all a close second. Highly recommended.

Ate here today and was thrilled! The venison ragout was absolutely outstanding – tender, aromatic, and perfectly seasoned. The service was also friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back.

Always a delight. The "Eule" is as much a part of my visit as my visit to the Wagner Festival. The staff is always friendly, never rushed, and the food is consistently perfect. A historic ambiance where you can't help but feel at home.

Waren auf der Durchreise und haben zwei Tage in Bayreuth verbracht. Waren am ersten Abend spontan in der Eule und hatten Glück, dass noch ein Plätzchen vorhanden war. Der Besitzer ist super nett und freundlich. Das Essen ist geschmacklich ein Wahnsinn, sehr frisch, sehr, sehr lecker und kein Fertigzeug. Man kann dort getrost alles empfehlen.

Too cramped. We were there with a larger registered group and were seated in a fairly small dining room. The food was delicious, with small portions for a lot of money.

Anno Domini 2025 I ended up in the “Eule” inn, located in the heart of the venerable Bayreuth old town, in beautiful Upper Franconia. A very rustic place with a lot of charm, simply and lovingly designed, full of history, but without any fuss about it. The service was excellent. A lady of advanced age did her duty with a steady hand and a watchful eye - never too early, never too late, always at the right time. For dinner I had soup, then a sauerbraten with dumplings - and, by the Lord, I say without exaggeration: it was a feast beyond compare. The roast is so tender and flavorful, the sauce is a poem, the dumplings are of perfect texture. As a sweet finale, I was offered a chocolate mousse - so fine, so melting that I internally thanked French cuisine for this idea. An inn that is much more than just a place to eat. It is a place of well-being, memory and joy. I will return if I have the opportunity, and this house is warmly recommended to every honest person. A deeply grateful guest.

If you just want to drink a beer, entry was refused. In my opinion, an absolute disgrace - and that at 6 p.m. and the restaurant was empty

SENSATIONAL food in a SENSATIONAL location 🤍 Wonderfully rustic, traditional and the menu adapted to today's times (in addition to traditional meat dishes also vegetarian & vegan 🌱) Service was really very nice 😊 Both the (non-vegan) schnitzel and the (vegan) steak were outstanding! I have never enjoyed such a delicious meat alternative! A must for vegans! The location also impresses with its lovingly thought-out furnishings and unique history (very old building related to Richard Wagner).

There were 3 of us. After we were out in the cold on New Year's Eve, they let us in for dinner after we asked other restaurants without success. The food came very quickly and was very tasty! The service was friendly and accommodating! The atmosphere was rustic and authentic! Thank you for the delicious food and that you spontaneously had room for us! - We'd love to come back! :)

Leckeres Essen, gute Portionen. Leider waren die blauen Zipfel nicht blau sondern weiß. Aber lecker waren sie trotzdem. Haben auch noch ohne Reservierung kurzfristig einen Platz bekommen obwohl es recht voll war. Die weibliche Bedienung könnte etwas mehr Freude an der Arbeit zeigen aber vermutlich muss man das unter "urig" einstufen.

As always, very tasty and high quality food as well as warm service. In summer there is a beautiful beer garden. Another positive thing is that there are several vegetarian dishes on the menu, all of which are a complete and not just a diet portion.

Das Essen war sehr, sehr lecker. Wir hatten Rehbraten, Schnitzel, Würstchen. Der Kaiserschmarren war so köstlich, den sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gern wieder, wenn wir das nächste Mal in Bayreuth sind.

It's a very nice restaurant. With lots of little impressions! Staff very nice. The food was very tasty. We sat in the courtyard, where all the greenery made us feel very comfortable.

The EULE is our absolute favorite restaurant in Bayreuth! The rustic and cozy atmosphere invites you to linger, and the service is always very friendly, down-to-earth and courteous at the same time. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent food - every dish is prepared with a lot of love and tastes simply fantastic. You feel completely at home here and we always enjoy coming back. Highly recommended

Harold (owner) was friendly and attentive. Good selection of traditional franconian food (all on a Wagner theme). "Tap water" not a thing though (ie. you have to pay!)

Bourgeois Franconian cuisine. The dumplings are great. The sauerbraten in gingerbread sauce is very mediocre. A lot of heavy stuff that you don't necessarily want in the summer when it's 30 degrees hot. The side salad was out of place. It contained ham and salami. Imbecile with a hearty meat dish! I'm not going there again.

As always, very good Franconian cuisine in a historic atmosphere. We all enjoyed it.

Habillés de façon correcte, ayant à l'extérieur regardé la carte trop longtemps au goût du patron, afin de la traduire à mon épouse, dès notre entrée, alors que plusieurs tables de deux ne portent pas de petit panneau Reserviert, le patron nous refoule avec des nein et des non sur un ton frisant l'agressivité et la grossièreté. Si ce monsieur n'aime pas les Français trop lents à traduire l'allemand qu'il affiche à l'entré un panneau ségrégationniste : "Nicht Fransozen", au moins on sera averti.

As always: excellent, down-to-earth Franconian food, exemplary and friendly hosts and a nostalgic place to relax. We always enjoy coming back.

Whenever I'm in Bayreuth, I'm magically drawn to the owl 🦉…. I like this historical ambience in the walls that tell so many Wagner stories 🎶🎻... Plus the hands-on, Franconian hospitality, without frills and with a lot of heart. I've probably eaten the roulade countless times over the last 15 years, but I just have to have it again 😋... Hearty, "tasty" sauce, dumplings as they should be, aromatic red cabbage and a wonderfully stuffed pork roulade from Hall's young pig - you have no chance of becoming a vegetarian... Even the espresso at the end was really good this time ☕️👍🏻 May the owl in Bayreuth exist forever - I love this place 😍.

No atmosphere. We were the only people in the room. The food was ok, nothing special. The lady who served us was extremely unfriendly and rude. She is probably the owner of the restaurant and that is what was particularly amazing for us. She should change her career. Guests are not treated this way.

Great food and atmosphere of a traditional German restaurant. A friendly and competent gentleman (probably the owner of the place). Unfortunately, the elderly woman serving us was extremely rude - she didn't say a word, didn't answer questions, served the dishes without looking at us. We had the impression that there was some xenophobia at play, and she found our Slavic language repulsive. In my travels around Europe I have never encountered such reluctance.

Restaurant typique et sympathique… L’accueil est très agréable… Côté cuisine c’est évidemment très traditionnel…. Roulé de porc en sauce …très goûteux.. Poulet aux girolles délicieux… Excellent rapport qualité /prix… Ouvert très tard et donc parfait après l’opéra !!

Update: from 07/29/24 Very tasty food ......the red cabbage is good and the roast anyway, unfortunately since I live near the festival hall I don't come here as often anymore. I always like being here, the landlord is very nice, friendly and competent.

After a reservation mishap at another restaurant, we and our 12-person JGA were looking for a new place to eat. After a short phone call where we were assured that there was still space, we set off. We had a large table in a very nice, cozy beer garden. The service was very friendly, always had a funny saying on her lips and everything went very quickly. The food was excellent and the prices were reasonable too. And even though the time had already come for the restaurant to close, the landlady allowed us one last drink. Our group of men was completely satisfied and we can only recommend the restaurant. We'd love to come back.
