Harold (owner) was friendly and attentive. Good selection of traditional franconian food (all on a Wagner theme). "Tap water" not a thing though (ie. you have to pay!)

Bourgeois Franconian cuisine. The dumplings are great. The sauerbraten in gingerbread sauce is very mediocre. A lot of heavy stuff that you don't necessarily want in the summer when it's 30 degrees hot. The side salad was out of place. It contained ham and salami. Imbecile with a hearty meat dish! I'm not going there again.

As always, very good Franconian cuisine in a historic atmosphere. We all enjoyed it.

An institution in Bayreuth. The Kaiserschmarrn is particularly great.

Great ambience, good service. Unfortunately, my meal only included finished products, pork fillet too well done (yes really). It was still tasty, enough for tourists.

Good Franconian cuisine! Highly recommended, especially after attending a festival. Even if it gets a little later, you can still get something delicious served by the friendly innkeepers.

Whenever I'm in Bayreuth, I'm magically drawn to the owl 🦉…. I like this historical ambience in the walls that tell so many Wagner stories 🎶🎻... Plus the hands-on, Franconian hospitality, without frills and with a lot of heart. I've probably eaten the roulade countless times over the last 15 years, but I just have to have it again 😋... Hearty, "tasty" sauce, dumplings as they should be, aromatic red cabbage and a wonderfully stuffed pork roulade from Hall's young pig - you have no chance of becoming a vegetarian... Even the espresso at the end was really good this time ☕️👍🏻 May the owl in Bayreuth exist forever - I love this place 😍.

Great food and atmosphere of a traditional German restaurant. A friendly and competent gentleman (probably the owner of the place). Unfortunately, the elderly woman serving us was extremely rude - she didn't say a word, didn't answer questions, served the dishes without looking at us. We had the impression that there was some xenophobia at play, and she found our Slavic language repulsive. In my travels around Europe I have never encountered such reluctance.

No atmosphere. We were the only people in the room. The food was ok, nothing special. The lady who served us was extremely unfriendly and rude. She is probably the owner of the restaurant and that is what was particularly amazing for us. She should change her career. Guests are not treated this way.

Update: from 07/29/24 Very tasty food ......the red cabbage is good and the roast anyway, unfortunately since I live near the festival hall I don't come here as often anymore. I always like being here, the landlord is very nice, friendly and competent.

After a reservation mishap at another restaurant, we and our 12-person JGA were looking for a new place to eat. After a short phone call where we were assured that there was still space, we set off. We had a large table in a very nice, cozy beer garden. The service was very friendly, always had a funny saying on her lips and everything went very quickly. The food was excellent and the prices were reasonable too. And even though the time had already come for the restaurant to close, the landlady allowed us one last drink. Our group of men was completely satisfied and we can only recommend the restaurant. We'd love to come back.

Home cooking and beer in a mug. It's fine. You can also sit nicely in the courtyard. All good, but not spectacular.

On a weekend trip to Bayreuth we wanted to eat as authentically as possible. The owl was a complete success. A traditional house, a cozy atmosphere, very friendly hosts and excellent food are offered here. Both starter soups, dragon schnitzel and gourmet loin with spaetzle were really tasty. The Nibelungen soup even comes in a small kettle. We can highly recommend the restaurant and would come back at any time.

My companion's schnitzels were very good. I had the cheese cake stand and it really wasn't anything special. Not very aromatic supermarket cheese. I would have expected regional or at least aromatic cheese here for the price. Otherwise it was very comfortable.

We came across the restaurant by chance while looking for dinner. Almost all the tables in the small, winding rooms were occupied. The innkeepers welcomed us warmly, the food was excellent and the portions were decent. We'd love to come back!

Really very nice here, we would love to come back. Nice little beer garden and good food. Honestly, one of the best schnitzels I've had in a restaurant so far. Only the panna cotta didn't quite meet my expectations, but that's also a matter of taste. Panna Cotta means what it is in its name: boiled cream. Unfortunately, it is very often the case these days, including here, that milk is used to add milk, which unfortunately affects the taste. It then simply tastes “emptier”. Some people might like this better because it makes the dish “lighter”. Personally, I would prefer it to be more tasteful.

I think the pictures speak for themselves . Very tasty food, nice chat with the innkeeper. Here you can have peace and quiet in the garden and enjoy the food. It was a very nice ending.

Super Service. The food was good, but there is still room for improvement. It's particularly commendable when you express legitimate criticism (after paying) and are immediately offered everything from a schnapps to cash in a very friendly manner.

this economy is simply authentic. Owner, ambience, quality. As you wish. It was well attended and everything was reserved. Nevertheless, we were lucky and got 5 places because the reservation was only in an hour. Despite the high number of guests, the food arrived after a pleasantly short wait. Everyone was happy with their dish. Priced completely down to earth. Absolute recommendation from locals too 👌🏻

We were a larger group and ordered different dishes. There's nothing wrong with the service, apart from the fact that the food was delivered quicker than the drinks. Schnitzel, sauerbraten and potato pancakes were good and recommended. However, the bratwursts (2 pieces) are not recommended: they came from the deep fryer and the sausage meat is indefinable. The sauerkraut was soggy and the bread was rock hard. And that for over 16 euros!!

We came here spontaneously. It was nice after 9 p.m. We only ordered desserts and everything was freshly prepared and came to the table after a few minutes. It couldn't be better and you couldn't feel more welcome. Next time we stay we will definitely go there and let ourselves be pampered.

Very nice restaurant in the heart of Bayreuth, unfortunately we got relatively little on our plates for the price we paid. The waitress was very rude and, despite the tip, treated us as if she wanted us out. We probably won't visit the restaurant again.

After a wonderful city trip in Bayreuth in sunny weather, we wanted to end the day with good food here. Unfortunately, the lady who served us was a bit brisk and snippy, but we were still looking forward to the food and something cool to drink. The prices were okay, but relatively high. We were particularly shocked by the price of the snack plate after it arrived at the table. The other five dishes were okay to good, but we probably wouldn't visit this restaurant again.

We had on March 23rd. reserved a table. Our visitor from Cologne was really looking forward to the traditional restaurant. Although the food and drinks were very good, the service made us feel unwelcome right from the start. The man of the house was nice and friendly. The lady, however, was by far the unfriendly person we encountered in Bayreuth. At around 8:45 p.m. our daughter wanted to order a small beer. The waitress said no and pointed out to us that they wanted to close now. By now we were the only guests in the restaurant. When we left the restaurant, the nice gentleman explained to us that they were actually open until 10 p.m. but that he wouldn't be mad if they could close earlier. We are Bayreuthers but will never enter this restaurant again. It's a shame that this beautiful, historic restaurant is no longer dependent on guests. Fortunately, there are also many other restaurants where they are happy to welcome guests.

We went there for dinner, it was very nice and I really recommend it. The prices are reasonable. The service was extremely friendly and cordial. The food was really delicious. The menu has a very exciting design and the names of the dishes are really cool. Would go again.

Restaurant Eule presents a traditional Bavarian dining experience, but it garners a modest 3-star rating from me. The ambiance carries a historical charm, notably for its connection with Wagner, which adds to its appeal. However, the food, while okay, doesn't quite justify the higher price point. For instance, the schnitzel I tried leaned more towards being heavy on the breading rather than showcasing the pork, and the accompanying Kartoffelsalat was rather unremarkable. A meal of schnitzel with two beers came to 30€, which felt a bit steep considering the overall quality of the dish. While the restaurant's historical significance and old-world charm are evident, the culinary experience, in my opinion, doesn't live up to the same legacy. It's a place worth visiting for its history, but the food and value might not meet everyone's expectations.

Very nice restaurant, a large selection of dishes on the menu. The portions could have been a little larger for the prices. But everything was delicious and fresh.

We have been to the owl several times. Great atmosphere, very friendly boss and very good food! Always recommended! However, the female service has always been the only negative factor so far. Ea doesn't give any excuses for this, it's probably just her way of seeming annoyed and unemphasized, you feel like you're bothering her. The wheat is “pumped” into the glass so that you only have foam. You are reprimanded and rushed with “now what now” when making your choice. Other guests also roll their eyes. That's too bad. If you can handle that, you have a wonderful restaurant called the Owl!

Leckeres Essen, jedoch frühe letzte Runde …

Wir wählten u.A. dieses urige Restaurant, weil sie mehrere vegetarische Speisen (Abseits von den obligatorischen Käsespätzle) im Angebot hatten. Wie zu erwarten war Samstag Abend leider schon komplett ausreserviert, der sehr freundliche Inhaber konnte uns dennoch noch unterbringen (4 Personen). Die beiden Fleischgerichte wurden sehr gelobt, die Größe der Portionen und der Preis ist angemessen. Das vegetarische Gericht mit Kartoffelpuffern kam ebenfalls sehr gut an, genau so wie die Kürbissuppe. Das Gericht mit den Sojahacksteaks war insgesamt auch lecker, jedoch etwas trocken. Die weibliche Bedienung fiel uns jedoch negativ auf. Die Teller wurden schon abgeräumt, da waren wir zum Teil noch am Essen. Nachfragen zu getrennter Rechnung und Kartenzahlung kommentierte sie schnippisch mit "aha." und "lieber nicht." Sie vermittelte unweigerlich den Eindruck, als wär sie jetzt gerade viel lieber wo anders. Zum Glück konnte das freundliche Auftreten vom Inhaber das Ganze etwas kompensieren!

Wir waren zu 6. hier und haben sehr gut gegessen - es waren große Portionen. Alles war geschmacklich sehr gut und unsre Erwartungen wurden erfüllt. Die Kellnerin war urig und authentisch. Zum Empfehlen sind die Blauen Zipfel und der Sauerbraten.

Die Location ist sehr schön und urig. Das Essen ist gut, aber nichts besonderes. Die Bedienung hatte evtl. einen schlechten hten Tag, Es war eine Frau ca. 60 Jahre alt und hat während der ganzen Zeit kein einziges Mal gelächelt, man fühlte sich nicht als Gast. Der Mann vermutlich Koch, war dagegen sehr nett. Wird leider bei diesem einen Mal bleiben...

Eines der Traditionslokale der Stadt, auch unter der Woche gut besucht. Freundlicher Service und leckeres Essen. Typische Wirtshaus Atmosphäre. Nicht zu teuer. Sehr zu empfehlen.

In einem tollen, alten, traditionellen Ambiente wird hier eine leckere Fränkische Küche serviert. Klasse Auswahl, hervorragene saure Bratwürste, eine klasse Wurst. Wundervolle Zimtpflaumen zum Nachtisch und ein Top fränkischer Grappa . Zwei kleine Vermouthstropfen, die Brühe hätte gerne so heiß sein können, wie die Klöße darin und das Bier kam nicht aus Bayreuth ( jedoch lecker ) ;-) . Angnehmer Servise. Wir kommen wieder

Uriges Restaurant in der Bayreuther Innenstadt. Siegfrieds Drachenschnitzel war sehr lecker aber hätte meiner Meinung nach auch noch etwas mehr sein können. Nette Zitate über Bayreuth und alte bayerische Weisheiten in der Karte und alles in allem ein angenehmer Besuch

Spitzenmäßig! Hier wird noch Gastronomie gepflegt wie man sie sich wünscht! Gutes ehrliches Essen sehr schön präsentiert, klasse Service also perfekt! Ambiente ist hervorragend. Und für Kurzentschlossene gibt es auch noch ein Plätzchen ohne große Diskussion! Top!!!!

Der Chef hat sich bemüht, dass wir mit 10 Personen doch noch einen Tisch bekommen haben. Die Blauen Zipfel waren ein Gedicht, selten so gute bekommen!

Wir waren am Wochenende wieder im Biergarten und es war wunderschön. Leckeres Essen, tolle Getränke, Service hervorragend und ein Plausch mit dem Chef. Ein rundum gelungener Ausflug nach Bayreuth. Wir kommen wieder. Liebe Grüße und weiter so :-)

Einst ein sehr geschätztes, hochgelobtes Restaurant führte uns zur Eule. Gut besucht, jedoch schien uns ein Personal-Mangel dazu zu führen, dass eine Überforderung im 2-Personen Service gegeben war, der die Erwartungshaltung kippen ließ. Auch die servieren Speisen waren eher "flach"

Der kleine Biergarten ist gemütlich, und das Essen ist gut, ich hatte Sauerbraten mit Kloß.

Auch nach den Festspielvorstellungen erwarten den Gast in der Eule kalte und warme Schmankerl und süffiger Frankenwein respektive Bier. Das Wirtsehepaar kümmert sich freundlich und effizient um die späten Gäste. Deshalb meist ausgebucht. Ohne Reservierung setzt der Wirt die Einzel-Gäste zusammen an den Stammtisch, damit sind Unterhaltung und Austausch über Wagner und die Festspiele garantiert:Dafür dem Gastgeber ein besonderes Lob.

Bei der Eule kann man nichts verkehrt machen. Wer gutes Einheimisches mag kann ohne Bedenken hin. Der Biergarten ist auch saugemütlich. Das Gesamtpaket passt einfach, weiter so....

We booked on the 5th August at 1100 by calling in personally and talking to the proprietor who took our name and confirmed a table at 1800 on the 9th.We arrived at 1800 on the 9th and the proprietor denied our booking. We referred to the previous Saturday and he said that we had not spoken to him on the 5th. He lied and was rude.He grudgingly offered us the end of a table for an hour. We refused and left. We are a respectable couple in our eighties, we ask others to avoid this restaurant

Un restaurant un peu en retrait de la grande avenue mais qui mérite vraiment le détour. Accompagné d'une bière locale, nous avons dégusté un filet de sandre avec ses pommes de terre sautées et une salade mixte. Tout est frais, cuisiné simplement et très bon. L'accueil est chaleureux. En dessert, nous avons pris une petite portions de beignets de pommes et il y avait déjà beaucoup en quantité. Nous recommandons vivement !

Ein nettes kleines gemütliches Lokal in den Gassen von Bayreuth. Man sollte reservieren da es anscheinend immer voll ist. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen waren okay. Wir hatten über Spargel,Fisch und Fleisch alles probiert und waren alle 4 begeistert.

Wie immer sehr leckeres Essen und ein herzlicher Service in einem schönen Biergärtchen. Positiv ist auch, dass es mehrere vegetarische Gerichte auf der Karte gibt, die alle eine vollständige und nicht nur eine Diätportion darstellen.

Sehr schöner Biergarten. Super nettes Personal. Hat schon seit Jahren ein veganes Hauptgericht auf der Karte. Sellerieschnitzel klingt zwar erst mal "langweilig", aber wow ist das gut. Die Bratkartoffeln sind auch ein Highlight zusammen mit dem leckeren knackigen Salat. Empfehlung!

Ein wirklich nettes, ich denke, familiengeführtes Restaurant mit regionalen aber auch anderen Spezialitäten zu einem guten Preis.

Gutes Essen in traditionsreicher Gaststätte

Wir wollten eigentlich in ein anderes, bekannteres Restaurant, dort war es aber voll und wir haben diese kleine versteckte Perle gefunden. Das Essen ist gutbürgerlich, es gibt auch vegetarische und vegane Gerichte und das Essen kommt relativ schnell. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und wenn wir wieder in Bayreuth sind, gehen wir gleich dort hin.

Wir wurden sehr herzlich vom Chef empfangen und konnten uns einen schönen Platz in der Abendsonne im Biergarten aussuchen. Die Stühle sind bequem und alles wirkt mit Liebe dekoriert. Die Speisekarte ist umfangreich und die Getränkekarte beinhaltet alles was das Herz begehrt. Hirschragout und Schweineroullade sollten es sein. Ebenso Radler + Kellerbier. Die Getränke kamen zügig, gepflegt und mit einem freundlichen Lächeln serviert. Der Biergarten füllte sich und der Service blieb souverän und ausgezeichnet. Man fühlte sich sehr wohl und als Gast mit Aufmerksamkeit verwöhnt. Die Speisen waren vorzüglich in Qualität und Würze! Ein Geschmackserlebnis! Kompliment an die Küche! Ein wunderschönes Erlebbis in einem Traditionswirtshaus - Wagner lässt grüßen! Gerne gehen wie dort wieder hin und genießen es.

Gemütliches Restaurant in der Fußgängerzone, ideal um den Tag ausklingen zu lassen. Reservieren macht Sinn, da bisweilen gerade abends sehr gut besucht. Der Wirt ist ein super netter und bietet besten Service. Die Speisen sind natürlich auch klasse. Einfach ausprobieren, es lohnt sich.

Leckeres Essen und vor allem viel essen

Hier wurde verschiedentlich geschrieben, dass das Wirtsehepaar sehr unfreundlich ist. Das können wir nicht bestätigen, wir wurden sehr freundlich und mit einem Lächeln begrüßt, bewirtet und verabschiedet. Das Lokal ist sehr originell und urig, die Speisen bürgerlich, gut zubereitet, reichlich. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.

Beste Bratwurst in Bayreuth in einem absolut sehenswerten Traditionslokal, wo auch Richard Wagner und viele andere große Künstler schon gegessen haben.

Cibo non all’altezza degli anni passati presentato in maniera sciatta. Servizio pessimo da due anziani scorbutici e per niente gentili. Addirittura la signora si è rifiutata di chiamare un taxi .

Die Auswahl an Speisen ist klein aber fein. Der freundliche und hilfreiche Inhaber bedient selber. Wegen der historischen Ambiente ist die Eule jedes Jahr ein Muß.

Se volete vivere un'esperienza culinaria autentica a Bayreuth, questo è il posto giusto. E soprattutto per coloro che vengono qui per il Festspiel: in questo ristorante era solito mangiare infatti Richard Wagner. Si può gustare il suo piatto preferito seduti nell'angolo in cui si sedeva lui, sotto il suo ritratto. Menu di piatti tradizionali, location molto accogliente e proprietario simpaticissimo e cordiale.

Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante per assaggiare piatti tipici tedeschi. I proprietari si sono dimostrati persone squisite e l’atmosfera era casalinga. Il cibo è stato ottimo e i piatti molto curati. Complimenti.
