Restaurant Chen in Hamburg

The crispy duck itself was actually delicious. Unfortunately, everything else wasn't. I have to agree with the other reviews – the rice was too dry, the sauce and the vegetables were barely there. The soup with the duck was also so-so, and the pork dim sun unfortunately didn't work for us at all – it tasted weird and not fresh. It was open on Sunday (a plus!) and the service was friendly.

The roast duck noodles are so fragrant and delicious. They have a strong herbal aroma. The noodles are handmade. The tiger skin rolls and fried dumplings are delicious.

The food was incredibly delicious, the atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be coming back again!

Roasted duck is absolutely tasty! so I took away the whole one roasted duck before left Hamburg.

Food was underspiced, the broth in noodle soups was just salty water, the meat in it was also dry and kinda tasteless also a weird colour, the crispy duck wasnt bad but the sweet n sour sauce was neither sweet nor sour…

The food was good, but the price-performance ratio and service were not so good.

A cozy restaurant, I was there with a group, we had a good time, talked, looked at the writing of Chinese characters, it was interesting. I ordered a vegetarian soup with noodles and tofu according to a home recipe, it cost 12 euros, the portions are large, it's good

The food was fantastic!!! I was so happy and satisfied with the food. The roasted duck was so yummy, with crispy skin and tasty meat. Enough vegies come along. Great volume lunch and reasonable price. It was so yummy. The service was good. The lady was kind. The place is clean, toilets are clean. Highly recommended. Roast duck and grilled pork are highly recommended!

We took lunch with us (roast duck and roast chicken, each with rice and vegetables). Vegetables were missing in each dish, and both dishes were disappointing in taste; the rice was watery and the sauce lacked flavor.

The best duck in the world. Update: since the drastic price increase, a visit is unfortunately out of the question for me in the future and I'm deducting 2 stars because it seems like highway robbery to me. Of course, this doesn't change the quality of the food, but it does threaten the price-performance ratio.

The restaurant is in a great location and there is easy parking nearby. I recommend their signature roast duck, which has crispy skin, tender meat and good flavor. The shrimp dumplings (Har Gao) are fresh and delicious. Frankly speaking, the presentation of the dishes is boring.

We ordered the duck based on a recommendation. It was crazy how delicious the dish was. Incredibly soft, delicately seasoned and crispy. 5 stars for the duck!!!!!

During a photo event in Hamburg we were looking for a restaurant and finally ended up here. We were greeted very friendly and were immediately offered a place. The choice of food is limited and mainly includes duck and pork. Beef is only available in conjunction with soups. So the choice was made quickly. The waiting time for ordered food and drinks was reasonable. The duck meat was generously portioned and tasted very well prepared. Unfortunately, the proportion of sauce and vegetables was insufficient, so the rice had to be consumed mostly dry. The food was only served lukewarm. The ambience is kept in warm colors and rather simple. The stay is mainly suitable for quick consumption.

When we placed our order, the Chinese waitress feigned not knowing Chinese and insist we placed our order in German. We pointed to the menu and placed our order. When it arrived it was the wrong item. No apologies and put the blame on us. Then we observed that the waitress was able to converse in Chinese with another table with guests from China. The quality of noodles were bad too. The cabbage that came with the noodles were bitter. We left the cabbage unconsumed on the side of the bowl. Beware! Stay clear of this place! I have never in my years of posting food review say something so negative. This is a first!

It was okay, the grilled duck tasted quite good. Unfortunately the food cooled down quickly. The “secret seasoning” tastes a lot like Five Spice. The price is certainly positive, ½ grilled duck 18 euros, even if without any side dishes. Star deduction: No card payment possible (Hamburg (large city), 2024) and the toilets are an imposition.

A sort of Chinese express, convenient and quickly served. A small shop in which is clean, fare prices and adequate service in general. The location is a bit away from main streets but is also away from crowd. The best dish is roasted duck that what the owner recommends. Meanwhile I saw some local custmers had the same dishes. But I'm a vegetarian and longing for veggie food for lunch. From menu I realize that contains only very few dishes avaliable for me. I ordered veggie noodle soup that is a well..merely seasoned soup, I was quite disappointed. On the other hand, my husband had on the contrary good treat with fried and steamed dumplings.

Unexpectedly, as a Chinese, the best roast duck I have ever eaten was in Germany 😂 The lady boss is also very nice. At that time, my phone was running out of battery and I couldn’t go back to Berlin. She found the charging cable for the ordering machine and charged it for me. , I will definitely eat it again next time I come to Hamburg ~

A shame about the restaurant, only when we enter they tell us that there is no bathroom and that they do not serve us food. (But let's see, we come to eat, not to go to the bathroom.) Although by law they would have to have a bathroom for customers. If they're not going to serve food, I don't understand why the establishment is open! I don't recommend AT ALL!

I think their roast duck is just average, the duck has a strong smell. Just a little bit of black bean sauce pork ribs, after all, the price is there. The barbecued pork slices were so thin that you couldn't taste the barbecued pork.

I can only agree with all the positive reviews, I had the homemade pasta and duck and wow! The duck is truly the best I've ever had. I brought friends and colleagues here afterward, and everyone raved about it. I can really recommend this restaurant to everyone!

The fried duck was dry, the stir-fried duck was filled with Chinese cabbage, and the char siu meat was dry. Only pay cash, no card accepted. Sit outside in the fresh air. Kitchen closes at 8:30 p.m. Maybe I'm a gourmet, so the standards aren't up to par for me, but between the duck and the piece of bread that Westerners often eat, surely Westerners will find it delicious. If Vietnamese people should choose a Vietnamese restaurant, it will probably be better.

The best duck in Hamburg in a royal presentation. After its former location on Rosenstrasse, this institution was considered lost to me for a long time. Thanks to a lucky coincidence, I discovered this new opening at its current location and I have to say: it is better than ever before. We had the soup with duck and homemade noodles as well as the fried potsticker dumplings and both were simply successful and perfect in themselves. I can fully recommend the restaurant for those who are fans of authentic Chinese cuisine. See you soon

Good opportunity to eat typically Asian. Friendly service. Price-performance ratio fits. More suitable for quick dining, less suitable for a restaurant evening. Would go again and again.

Good if you like duck, no chicken which was disappointing but the only fault, very good portion sizes, nice bathrooms, nice decor, pork ribs were more like marrow ribs, not much meat but might have been the way it was translated *German to English* the sauces and chop sticks at the table was a nice add on, very good pricing for what you get!

A very nice restaurant. I ordered the duck and it was phenomenal!! Has a nice crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sauce that came with it brings the whole dish together. I am however, a little disappointed with the vegetables as they didnt have much taste. Drinks were also on the pricier side. Also a minus point for cash only.

This restaurant should be called a quick service restaurant. You are greeted very friendly and given a seat. The interior is simple and functional. The food, on the other hand, is really good and very authentic. The soup with homemade noodles and half a grilled duck is simply brilliant. I am completely thrilled and would love to come back.

Definitely eat the handmade duck noodles. The duck was really delicious and the noodle soup was crazy.

Very small, family-run restaurant. Not that many dishes on the menu, but the duck in sweet and sour sauce, served with rice and vegetables, was super delicious. Duck was so juicy, tender and crispy like you rarely get it. And only cost 14 Euro. Decor and seating, all bar stools or bench, are not very pretty, but functional for up to 4 people in a group.

Important information, because these days I personally hardly have any cash anymore... --> ONLY cash payment possible. Traditional and our next regulars' table...when you see who's eating there, you know it's authentic cuisine

The restaurant was recommended to me years ago by a friend at the old address. The best duck I have eaten in Europe is served here. Absolute recommendation!! (I've also been able to convince friends who don't like duck). The same quality has been the same for years, only the portions have become smaller... Still 5 stars because quality is more important than quantity!

周日去市政厅游览，惊喜发现这家中国面馆。周边大部分餐馆都关门，唯独这家亮着灯。点了招牌烧鸭面，烧鸭和面分开装盘，烧鸭很惊艳，皮酥肉嫩。面本以为是清淡的，尝了一口汤有一些八角味。吃碗面听老板娘聊外面停车被警察贴罚单的事，老板娘提醒食客要看好自己的车，警察来了就立即冲出去，不然一张单子就要520欧。很有趣，老板娘也很友善

Nice place, nice peeps but the food not at the expected level of real Chinese food and “homemade” dim sum, unfortunately. Lack of taste, lack of presentation, lack of quality overall. The coke cola was good, though.

Das war nicht gut. Dim Sum mit wenig Geschmack, Rippchen bestanden nur aus Knorpel. Es ist ein Imbiss, die Beleuchtung viel zu hell. Für ein gemütliches Abendessen ist das Restaurant nicht geeignet, eher für den schnellen Mittagstisch. Die Bedienung war gleichgültig und nicht freundlich. Am Ende zu teuer und keine Kartenzahlung.

Wer authentisches essen mag , der ist hier genau richtig. Die Dumplings und die Ente, einfach gut und lecker.

Restaurant Chen, früher in der Rosenstraße, heute in der großen Bäckerstraße 8. Vor drei Monaten Neueröffnung, komme heute das erste mal wieder hierher. Gutes Kantonesisches Essen, von Ente bis Cha Siu oder Chinesische Suppen mit verschiedenen Fleischsorten. Und auch Dim Sum gibt es. Alles sehr Authentisch, inzwischen ist es sehr geräumig und größer zum Sitzen, erinnert sehr an Gar Küchen in Honk Kong,l Cantonesische Küche. Das Essen schmeckt sehr gut, und die Preise sind Fair. Gutes Angebot für preiswerten Mittagstisch ! Ausprobieren ! Die Nudelsuppe mit Char Siuw oder mit Ente mit Knochen oder Dim Sum kann ich sehr empfehlen. Sehr freundlicher Service und insgesamt eine angenehme Atmosphäre, unbedingt ausprobieren !
