A good place to stop if you're craving Chinese cuisine during your lunch break or after shopping. From the outside, it looks like a small snack bar, which was hidden behind a construction site when we visited, but the upstairs area—closed during our visit and only seen while using the restroom—extends into two huge dining rooms. I wonder when and if they'll ever fill this place up. The ambiance is original; I love the large waving cat tree, which apparently not only heralds the Christmas season, but is always there. The menu boards at the counter seem a bit jumbled together; there are more European pasta dishes here than lunch specials. The menu, which seems to have been through many hands, only lists a concise selection of Chinese dishes. We opted for a vegetarian vegetable dish with tofu and one with duck. The presumed manager was incredibly friendly, served us at our tables after we ordered at the counter, and even gave us a heartfelt thank you for placing our plates on the designated trolley. The dishes were delicious, crisp, and fresh, just a bit too sweet for both of us. I probably could have ordered something spicy to spice things up. Not today. The Coke came in stylish wine glasses. Don't ask me about authenticity. China is big, and I've never been there, but I imagine small street restaurants there are something like this. Overall, a lovely experience in a somewhat charmingly chaotic atmosphere.

I've been going here for lunch almost once a week for about 35 years. Eat hasn't been around for 35 years, but the owners previously ran the sadly closed Essen und Trinken restaurant on Gänsemarkt. I've never been disappointed here; the quality of the food is beyond reproach, and the value for money is unbeatable. After many years of stable prices, the prices here had to be adjusted as well. The roast duck now costs €7.50 instead of €7.20. I'd pay more for a currywurst with fries on Jungfernstieg. I highly recommend it.

I think the restaurant is fine if you want to eat at an attractive price right in Hamburg's shopping district. Friendly staff, fast service. Good selection of dishes. Tasty. We had the fried rice and the chicken balls in sweet and sour sauce. The set menu, including a small appetizer, was €8.50 each. It was perfectly fine. It didn't invite me to linger. Perfect for a quick bite to eat :)

The Crispy Duck was 10.50 Euros, and the meat was generously portioned, fried to perfection without being overcooked. The accompanying spring roll was just average, and the rice was a bit light. Overall, though, I'd definitely order it again. It was a fantastic value.

Initially, it was very unusual with two lines: one on the right to order, and then one on the left to receive. But despite this experience, the food was very well presented and the taste and service were simply perfect! Conclusion: If you want to eat very well and affordably, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Nice restaurant, fast service, delicious food and plenty of it.

Zero stars because at night, while checking the cleanliness of the premises from the outside, I saw a mouse running around inside. I didn't have a chance to eat there and I certainly don't recommend it, based on what I saw.

Wow, what a find in expensive Hamburg! They offer a lunch menu at very low prices. I paid 7.20 € fot this chicken cashew nut meal (see pic). It was very good and a decent portion. Three small spring rolls included. Very friendly people working the place. For sure will return on my next visit to HH.....

Unassuming from the outside, but highly recommended. Asian or pasta menus, large portions at a low price. The drinks are relatively expensive, but the affordable food makes up for it. Note: Cash only!

I've visited the restaurant several times and have always been satisfied. However, yesterday I ordered the chicken teriyaki with rice and vegetables. The sauce with the vegetables had a strange aftertaste, as if it had gone off. Later that evening, I felt nauseous. Therefore, I'm convinced the sauce with the vegetables was definitely no longer fresh.

Amazing food and great vibe! I had a great experience every time we were there. Some of our favorites included crispy chicken in coconut milk, and the spring rolls.

The dishes are always delicious. Freshly prepared, and the staff is super friendly. Orders are processed quickly, even at lunchtime. If you're not in the mood for typical Asian dishes, the pasta alternatives are excellent. The menu includes three mini spring rolls and a drink for €10. The photo shows pasta with salmon and broccoli 🥦. There's seating inside on two levels. Or outside when the weather's nice. My only wish: please finally enable cashless payment. I always have to withdraw extra cash just for you 😉

we ordered a chicken teriyaki and a special dish of the day (which was a duck, noodles and veggies). the chicken teriyaki itself was delicious, but the vegetables and the rice were bland in taste, same as the dish with duck. I ate all of the meat, but couldn’t finish most of the noodles and veggies cause it was simply just not very tasty. the prices were fair though! the staff is very nice and friendly and they offered us some free spring rolls and fortune cookies. the poor waiter was running around and serving everyone all by himself (on a saturday!) 😭

As an Asian student in hamburg, this place was a lifesaver for providing cheap and great tasting asian food. Personal Recommendation would be S2 on the menu, which was my favourite as the sauces tasted great and spicy. The auntie that always took our order was always very friendly and polite and also provides recommendations for us to try 👍

For the first time I ran into a MOUSE in a restaurant. CONCLUSION: - Food cold - Non-carbonated drinks - Smell of toilet in the entire upper area - Encounter a mouse in the restaurant upstairs NEVER AGAIN! I'm still a little nauseous when I think about where else the mouse/mice are. And when we asked the owner or the employee about it, it was probably not an unknown problem.

Absolute insider tip for cheap lunch in downtown Hamburg

It should be forbidden for restaurants to only accept cash. This restaurant doesn't accept card payment, so I won't eat there.

Came here for lunch, based on previous review had high hopes. Found the ordering system confusing as some were stood up at the counter to order whereas there was a single waitress also taking orders. We ordered the mixed starters, I had chicken teriyaki and my partner ordered roast duck. The food arrived fairly quickly however my food was cold. There was hardly any flavour and it was not at all enjoyable. My partner's roast duck was "all right', except he had asked for spicy and it wasn't spicy at all. We're hoping we just caught them on a bad day, but overall it wasn't an enjoyable experience and we won't be returning.

Well, quite cheap by Hamburg standards. Unfortunately, a lot of information about the courts is missing. Because I don't know what's behind 'Balando' or 'Bumbu-Rujak'. The three small spring rolls as an encore/greeting from the kitchen were certainly meant to be nice, but they were at most lukewarm and tended to be too cold. Chicken Balando chosen for wine was ok, but the broccoli was not only al dente but also hard. Not a repeat for me.
