We ordered the menu rice platter for two people. First there was a starter and then a dessert. We were able to try things out here and we thought everything was good, it's something for people who like meat, vegetables aren't really available We enjoyed every bite. For what you get, the prices are incredibly good and the team is very hospitable. Exchanging food was no problem.

Food is good to very good. Service was friendly and quick, very attentive. In my opinion an average Chinese. Small salad, very tasty, first of all, comes from the house. Price/performance ratio is 100%. From us 5 stars also in 2023 and 2024. Gastronomy has become more expensive everywhere, so you have to think about where you go, you can 100% recommend Orchid Palace. In summer, always, on the house, a piece 🍉 for dessert!!!

My girlfriend and I discovered this inviting and authentic-looking Chinese restaurant while walking through Barmbek and grabbed two seats outside. We both chose the menu of the week consisting of three courses and a small salad for a very fair price. The small salad was beautifully decorated and also really fresh and tasty. The soup as a starter was well seasoned and had a lot of content in the form of chicken and champions. For the main course there was perfectly crispy baked chicken with spicy Thai curry and definitely more than enough of it. The dessert in the form of black rice with vanilla ice cream crowned the whole thing with the hot and cold combination. All in all, we enjoyed our evening at the Orchid Palace from start to finish. Only a small shower forced us to move indoors. This one is actually really beautiful and decorated in detail. We will definitely come back to enjoy the first-class combination of good prices, friendly service, delicious food and nice ambience!

About twenty years ago, went there once a month. The furnishings still feel the same. Unfortunately, the food - vegetarian fried rice and sweet and sour fish (outside the house) was no longer convincing. The sweet and sour sauce was too thin (like soup) and I could count the pineapple pieces on one hand. The fried rice tasted burnt, which was also evident in the vegetables. Very unfortunate...

Old school Chinese restaurant as I know it from before! I visited it for the first time when I was almost 23 years old. Now I'm 54 and I felt like I was in the time machine! What I don't want to be understood negatively. Nice, courteous service and there's nothing to complain about the food either!

Our regular Chinese in Barmbek. Very authentic Cantonese cuisine and very nice staff. Clear recommendation: the Mapo tofu ;) Always my pleasure!

I drive past here all the time and thought we'd give it a try, there's always a lot of people there. The best thing was the free salad beforehand, fresh and crunchy. Everything from then on was just disappointing. Vegetarian spring rolls tasted like meat, probably fried in the same fat. Asian curry bags were simply store-bought samosas, also with plenty of meat flavor. We thought the main courses would be like the fresh salad again because it wasn't bought like the starter. Dish 1, fried noodles with chicken. We specifically asked if there were vegetables as they weren't explicitly mentioned in the menu. This would confirm that there are some vegetables in it. Except for onions, there was none. The chicken also came fried, we sent it back for advice and more vegetables. Second round was just such a joke. The waiter then told us that we had to say what we wanted when we ordered?? Then why do you ask? And €16 for that, some rice and barely cooked chicken. No thanks. Dish 2 Vegetable curry in the wok. Everything was very greasy and sappy. There was no quality here The whole meal then sat like a stone in my stomach. At least no poisoning. We won't go here again. Not recommendable

Good atmosphere and the food was also very tasty. I had a beef dish... I've never had such tender beef in a Chinese dish. My friends too; where I tried had very tasty and great dishes. The selection is very large. I wish everyone bon appetit in the Orchid Palace

As an "old" Barmbek woman, I always enjoy coming to this restaurant, it's not comparable to the buffet restaurants. The atmosphere is great, people are always friendly and the food is great. This evening I'm back with a friend and I'm as happy as a little child ☺️

Mostly everything is good. But today the soup wasn't hot and the waiter didn't come by once to ask for further requests or anything like that. It used to be better.

Love the ambience for sure... The place is large enough that people shouldn't have to sit totally close to each other, yet we received right next to a couple that was obnoxious. Oh well we will come back and look for better placing.

I have been visiting the restaurant for over 20 years. The food is good and it is enough for a normal guest. The facility is not special. The music could be a little quieter. This made the piano a bit annoying.

The Orchid Palace is like a trip back in time. I've been coming here for years and the food still tastes just as I remember it. The ambience is very nice. The music is at just the right volume. It's a typical Chinese restaurant. The selection on the menu is a bit too big for me. I can never decide and always order the same thing. But of course that's up to me. The sanitary facilities were fine and clean. Suggestions for improvement: The waiter (older gentleman) could have been a little more courteous or more interactive. He seemed disinterested and cold. In between, no one came to ask if the food was tasty.

The Orchid Palace is a long-established restaurant specializing in Chinese cuisine. The ambience is nice and the food is plentiful and very good. All dishes are also available to pick up at home! The service is very nice, competent and very fast. The food is nice and hot, even if you take it home and the journey is longer. The prices are also very good and justified. We just paid thirty-four euros for three take-away dishes! I would say great. We had dish 14 twice, the baked fish, and dish 12, the eight delicacies!

Good Chinese, even has some dim sum starters, and char siuw roasted pork, and action weeks with warm Japanese cuisine, highly recommended. There are some authentic dishes on the menu and it is well worth eating through the menu.

Nice Asian restaurant. There is a large selection here, from Thai dishes to (German) Chinese dishes, at reasonable prices. The dishes are sometimes served in a halved pineapple and are visually appealing. The ambience is what you would imagine traditionally Chinese to be, with lots of golden elements. Unfortunately, the gold has already rubbed off a bit in some places and the koi pond unfortunately no longer fits the time period because it is simply too small.

We have eaten there many times, but unfortunately the quality is declining. Yesterday we were there again and both of us were in bed with food poisoning! We had different dishes. Unfortunately we will never come back.

I've been there twice and was very casual again. The woman who served us (probably also the boss) is always nice and quick. You sit on gutter tables and the whole ambience is great. Starters, soups and main courses were very good. Main courses are really not expensive.

Rediscovered last year. Went there for lunch today. It's nice that you can choose to order the dish as is or alternatively with "soup/spring roll or salad first" or "mixed ice cream" for dessert. It's also nice that there is still a Chinese restaurant that still looks like it used to, just beautiful. Food was delicious as usual, service was nice. It's also a good thing that my Italian friend was thrilled, Italians, like the French, attach great importance to good food 😉. The food was great, from starters to main courses everything was delicious and fresh, we were just too full for dessert. The beef with coarse pepper was very tender and flavorful. Wok Nyonya style was plentiful and the fish tender with enough prawns. The staff was very friendly. There was a welcome drink and a starter salad for free. Price performance great.

I love being there. It's always a bit like a short vacation, even if I'm only there to pick up something, then the service staff manages to take me into a completely different world for a few minutes. You quickly notice that there are very nice people who work here. The food is also very tasty, but I would also like to go if there was no food there.

The reason I only give 1 star is because you never receive a proper invoice, but rather a sum is thrown at you by scribbling on paper. You have to request an invoice separately, but then you still don't get a real invoice, just a cash register printout with the heading "INFO BELEG". This means that the cash receipt can be deleted at any time! 😵‍💫🫣🤨 They don't actually need something like that because the restaurant is always almost full at lunchtime, because the food is still good value for money, even though the portions in 2023 are smaller and contain less meat than before. You get full, but I don't really want to get full from the rice....

The restaurant has lots of dark wood and red and of course stained glass, so basically the perfect cliché of a Chinese restaurant. I love it. The staff was very friendly, professional and quick. I got a seat without a reservation, even though the restaurant filled up quickly and noticeably. I had the S3: lacquered and crispy pork with plum sauce, vegetables and rice. It was simpler, just super tasty and terrific. The Peking soup beforehand was also very good. I would order this again and again.

The ambience is a 10/10 for me. The interior of the restaurant is very high quality and has a traditional, Chinese-German charm. The food also tastes very good, but given the high prices it could be a little more pizazz in some places. Above all, it would need more than the 3 vegetarian dishes. Here you could simply offer some of the existing dishes as vegetarian options. All in all, worth a visit.

For a Chinese restaurant that has been around for so long, there should be no doubt that it is a good one. Now it was my first time there but it definitely won't be the last time. Food very good and also good portions. There is a small salad beforehand and a small liquor-like drink. The service is very nice and attentive. The ambience is typically Chinese, in my opinion the music was a bit too loud but that's a matter of taste.

Geschmacklich einwandfrei und authentisch. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Preis-Leistung ist sehr gut.

Essen war gut! Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Service nett, freundlich, höflich und schnell. Das Restaurant ist an sich gut eingerichtet, Abzüge gibt es bei der Sauberkeit - Boden sowie Glastrennwände und vorallem das Aquarium sollten öfters gereinigt werden.

Schnelle Bedienung und gutes Essen.

Leider waren die Erfahrungen nicht so gut. Das Essen war eher durchschnittlich, dafür aber relativ teuer. Ambiente okay, aber der Service war wirklich unterirdisch. Kaum ein nettes Wort, Getränke dauerten ewig und es wurde nicht einmal nachgefragt, ob noch Getränke oder Nachspeisen gewünscht werden. Ich würde hier nicht wieder hingehen.

Der Laden hat einen sehr schönen Historischen China Look von Innen. Man fühlt sich wie im China Palast. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet ich empfehle Ente . Die Pekingsuppe ist mega lecker.
