Restaurant Balkan Grill in Wangerland

I was there with my boyfriend on Monday, and I have to say that at first we thought the "Balkan Grill" was just another run-of-the-mill kebab shop, the kind you'd find on every corner. But that's deceptive! We walked in and immediately noticed a large decorative tree in the middle of the room, a beautiful sight. We were seated right away, and our order was taken completely within five minutes by a very friendly waiter. The drinks arrived right after, and we waited maybe 20 minutes for the food, which was perfectly reasonable considering the portion sizes! The plates were very generously filled, and the food was truly delicious. We would love to come back.

Although it was our fifth time in Hooksiel, we ate there for the first time a few days ago. What should be highlighted is the very friendly and warm service and professionalism. There were a lot of dogs there, which led to nice conversations between people. All in all, we were thrilled and will be happy to come back next year. We think it's great that dogs are welcome there, because it feels like every second person in Hooksiel has a dog with them. The food was good, prices were fair. Particularly child-friendly. Family atmosphere. Clear recommendation! All the best and keep it up! Addendum 2025: We were there for dinner this year too. It tasted delicious and the service was extremely courteous and friendly. A reservation is helpful as it is a very popular restaurant. We would love to come back! All the best for you!

From the outside it looks like a normal chip shop, but from the inside it is anything but ordinary. When you walk through the door you are greeted by an unforgettable smell. The cool idea with the decorative tree in the middle of the room creates a special atmosphere. The portions are not only very tasty, but also generous, and the prices are more than fair. There is also a large selection of food and the staff is extremely friendly. I will definitely come back!

The food was very tasty and large portion, But if you order something to drink you get your drinks and a Juliscka is provided with it. In most restaurants this is a voluntary addition, but when I got the bill I had to pay the Juliscka. I didn't think that was okay, but rather an impertinence

The service was quite nice. But the Djuvec rice with the shepherd's steak was completely tasteless. Spaghetti Bolognese is served without Parmesan because it's out. I thought it was really wrong, if I offer such a meal there has to be something like that. Or I have to say it when ordering. But even then the sauce was completely tasteless. Forgot spices? And a 0.4ml Cola for 5.50 is extremely cheeky. Sorry, but there are better restaurants in Wangerland.

We were there today. We were satisfied with the food. Everything tasty and well fried to the point. The only negative was the bill. We also received two Julitschas with the drinks we ordered, but we didn't order them, but unfortunately found them on the bill with 7 euros. It's a shame to assume that these are free. Visited restaurant for the first time. It took 30 minutes for the cards to arrive. We chose a grill plate for 2 people. decided. €51.90 for canned vegetables with hollondaise from the tetra pack. The meat was tough and dry. The starter salad was way too small with ready-made dressing. For a cola 0.4l. €5.50 is outrageous. In the end, the waiter miscalculated in his favor when doing mental arithmetic. That's the cherry on top at the end. Once and never again. There are much better and cheaper restaurants in Wangerland and the surrounding area.

Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right here. Tk vegetables, brik hollandaise. Now that we have visited almost all the restaurants in Hooksiel, I can say that almost all of them are priced at the same level. However, this restaurant drops in quality.

We went there based on the reviews. Some of the food was still cold and not cooked through. Other people who came after us had their food beforehand. Only after we asked did our food come quickly, after waiting for over an hour. We suspect it was forgotten as the restaurant was really busy that day. Still, we wouldn't recommend it.

Two orders and two mistakes, service was okay, but the disciplining of colleagues in the store seemed subtly unprofessional. I'm used to much better quality of food for this price. The presentation of the food seemed more like canteen food without any love, just thrown on the plate. And let's not even talk about the starter salad. The staff should present themselves a little more naturally, they seemed very friendly and stressed, definitely not the feeling that should be conveyed to a customer. Thank you, we won't be coming back.

Very good food, decent portions and the price is justified for such quality. We had to wait a bit for the drinks we ordered the second time, but it has to be said that it got really busy in the meantime and the waitresses only had to do everything with two people, so it was understandable and ok. We were definitely not there for the last time.

Wir waren heute am 07.08.2024, nachdem wir vor 5 Jahren dort gewesen waren, essen. Das Essen ist okay aber nicht sehr gut, so wie es damals auch schon war. Aber, wir wollten es nochmal probieren. Der Service ist nicht gut und viel zu langsam. Es wird sogar vergessen, was bestellt wurde und eine Servicekraft nachfragen kommt was bestellt wurde. Die Preise für die Getränke sind teils zu teuer zB 0,4 Cola für 5,50 € oder eine Flasche 0,33 Jever fun 4,60 €. Wir wollten unsere Getränke in Ruhe austrinken und ohne Aufforderung kam der Kellner mit der Rechnung. Also insgesamt ist es nicht zu empfehlen dort hin zu gehen. Da gibt es in Hooksiel wesentlich bessere Restaurants mit besserer Qualität und besseren Service.

We had dinner today, August 7th, 2024, after being there 5 years ago. The food is okay but not very good, as it was back then. But, we wanted to try it again. The service is not good and way too slow. People even forget what was ordered and a service person comes to ask what was ordered. The prices for the drinks are sometimes too expensive, for example 0.4 Cola for €5.50 or a bottle of 0.33 Jever fun for €4.60. We wanted to finish our drinks in peace and without asking, the waiter came with the bill. So overall it is not recommended to go there. There are much better restaurants in Hooksiel with better quality and better service.

Hello, We are on vacation in Hooksiel and thought we would have something delicious to eat on the first evening. Since we have a house in Kreuzhamm, the Balkan Grill is close by. We took the food away, but I can still say that it is a small, chic restaurant. Ea served minced steak with shepherd's cheese, a grilled plate and schnitzel. All dishes were very tasty and the meat was also plentiful. The only drawback were the side dishes. Some savings were made there. A handful of fries and the rice just a blob on the plate. The service staff also seemed slightly overwhelmed, even though the restaurant wasn't even half full. On the whole, you can eat comfortably and decently there.

We've known this place for a long time. Whenever we go camping in Hoooksiel, we eat there. It's really tasty and the team there is always friendly. Dogs 🐕 are also welcome. We look forward to the next visit

We have been eating here at the Balkan Grill (2-5 per year) for many years now whenever we are guests in Hooksiel. The food (grilled plates, rasnicy, shepherd's plates, liver, cevapcici,...) was always top notch. This time, however, the minced meat (cheese-filled minced steak, cevapcici) was no longer as good in taste. The otherwise excellent Djuve rice has also deteriorated (overcooked/sticky). Otherwise everything was as usual. That's why the Balkan Grill is still recommended.

I had dinner with my mom today on Mother's Day. The food was excellent and very plentiful. Everything very clean 👍👍👍. The service was also polite and friendly🙂🙂. And at the end there was 1 beautiful red rose for all mothers.🌹 We will come back.

There were two of us on a public holiday and we got one of the last seats. Reservations at peak time are highly recommended. Grill plates and shepherd plates good and plentiful, as expected. The prices are fair. The staff is hard-working and attentive, unfortunately a bit understaffed at peak times, where not? So bring patience and time. Location recommended.

Been there once. Very friendly, attentive staff. Unfortunately, the meat from the "robber's plate" was not grilled, but fried in a pan. The pork was very dry and overall very blandly seasoned. The rump steak plate with mushroom sauce and vegetables: The steak was perfect. As a vegetable side dish there were peas and carrots from a jar with chips and salad. The vegetables tasted like nothing.

Everyone has different tastes and for me it was just ok. But very dear service staff.

Really bad. Waited 1.5 hours, spoke to the waiter, who just walked around grinning the whole time. Answer: Working, I'll go to the counter and see what's going on. 15 minutes later the food came. After 2 hours started eating, minced meat and cevapci, very dark and both very hard. To throw holes in the wall. A waitress came and enjoyed it. My answer: no. You: That's a matter of taste. Arrived in Hooksiel this afternoon and googled which restaurant would be suitable for us and then decided on this one. We can't understand the reviews at all... I've never eaten such greasy and disgusting souflaki skewers. The schnitzels that my husband ate were also ones that came from the chest. We would never go there again even though the gentleman was very polite.

Durchschnittliches Restaurant, Rumpsteak war leider durch, Preise eher hoch und nur zwei Leute Personal, da bleibt man auf der Strecke wenn man vielleicht noch ein Getränk möchte, der Rest war ok...gut ist der Parkplatz direkt vor dem Haus

Leider klafft eine große Lücke beim Service wegen Personalmangel. Aber wenn alle Plätze vergeben bzw. belegt sind, sollte der Service schon zeitnah funktionieren. Getränke erst nach 20 Minuten, Salat nach 45 Minuten, Hauptmenü nach 1 Std. 15 Minuten.

Mama steht mit 2 anderen Frauen in der Küche und zaubert fantastische serbische, kroatische und internationale Gerichte. Diese wurden perfekt serviert und wir hatten einen tollen Abend.

Gutes Balkan Restaurant, sehr lecker ,preislich ok

Seit vielen Jahren verbringen meine Frau und ich unseren Urlaub in Hooksiel. Während dieser Zeit haben wir schon sehr oft im Restaurant "Balkan-Grill" gegessen. Es wurden schon mehrere unterschiedliche Gerichte probiert und wir wurden nie enttäuscht. Das Essen ist frisch zubereitet und die Portionen sind zum Satt werden. Hier stimmen noch Qualität und Preis. Das Servicepersonal ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Über lange Wartezeiten auf das Essen konnten wir uns nicht beklagen. Eine Reservierung ist dennoch empfehlenswert. Auch im kommenden Jahr 2024 werden wir hier wieder zum Essen einkehren.

Wir hatten eine Platte und waren begeistert. Lecker und reichlich. Salat frisch. Bedienung sehr nett und aufmerksam.

Kann man mal hingehen. Klassische Balkanküche.

Wir (2 Personen) waren am Samstag Abend dort ohne vorher zu reservieren, haben sofort einen Tisch bekommen sehr sehr nett und freundlich. Es war alles sehr sauber, die Speisekarte kam dann auch sehr zügig. Wir hatten als Vorspeise einen gebackenen Schafskäse den wir uns geteilt haben, aber sowas haben wir noch nie erlebt, der Käse war mal richtig dick (echt klasse). Als Hauptspeise gab es da ein Hooksiel-Pfännchen und ein Dubrovnik-Pfännchen, beides war super lecker und reichlich wir waren super satt. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis hat mehr als gestimmt, wir können es nur weiter empfehlen.

Gute Küche, der Service auf der Außenterasse könnte besser sein.

Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Wir hatten nicht reserviert und bekamen trotzdem einen Tisch. Die Speisekarte war gut und reichhaltig. Das Essen hat uns gut geschmeckt und das Personal war sehr freundlich. Auch die Preis/Leistung war für uns in Ordnung. Wir können es weiterempfehlen

Wenn wir Urlaub in Hooksiel machen ist es für uns Pflicht zum Essen ins Balkan Restaurant zu gehen. Das Essen ist immer sehr schmackhaft und frisch zubereitet. Die Bedienung immer sehr freundlich! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir mussten über eine Stunde auf unser Essen warten - und das mit zwei hungrigen Kindern, für die wir nur Pommes bestellt hatten. Während der Wartezeit wurden wir - vermutlich wohlwissend - keines Blickes von dem vorbeilaufenden Personal gewürdigt - so unbewusst kann man eigentlich im Gastrogewerbe gar nicht vorbei schauen. Weiterhin wurde ein Getränk falsch serviert (groß statt klein). Und am Schluss mussten wir feststellen, dass uns für das Ketchup jeweils 50 Ct berechnet wurde (zumal wir nur eines von beiden Ketchuptütchen überhaupt gebraucht haben - das andere wurde mit dem Geschirr abgeräumt,um dann vermutlich dem nächsten Kunden die 50 Cent abzuluchsen)! Eine derartige Profitgier ist mir lange nicht mehr untergekommen... Unverschämt! In einem Küstenbadeort hält sich sowas - hat man doch ständig wechselnde Kundschaft. Aber ich hoffe, dass der eine oder andere dieses Lokal nicht unterstützen wird. Das Essen selbst war geschmacklich okay. Hatte schon deutlich bessere Pommes, die Salatsoße des (kümmerlichen) Salates schmeckte wie Knoblauchsoße aus der Flasche und der Djuvec-Reis war kaum mehr als zwei Esslöffel... Sonst okay. Wir waren am Ende satt.

Fleisch war etwas Salzig und trocken, Gemüse war dafür super lecker. Leider wurde uns zwei mal das falsche Getränk gebracht und dann noch das falsche Essen, die Kellnerin wollte nicht einsehen das sie sich vertan hat und wurde leicht patzig.

Uns hat es hier geschmeckt im Balkan Grill. Viel Auswahl und klassische Balkan Gerichte. Hier wird man satt und es ist preislich in Ordnung. Wir hatten eine Platte für zwei Personen, welche lecker war. Salat ist dabei. Es werden auch kleine Portionen angeboten, wenn man nicht so hungrig ist.
