Best Wiener schnitzel in Berlin, can compete with Bei oma Kleinmann (Köln) which is a huge achievement. The apfelstrudel is a must eat too. Great food, nice service.

Nothing like what we remembered. The snitzel was just plain, too much batter and not enough meat. We asked for the dessert menu, and the sour-faced waiter told us they were closing. Anyway, we paid the bill and left. We won't be back.

We recently visited here for the second time and can confirm that it was worth it again. The food was delicious, and the dishes demonstrated good quality ingredients and preparation. It was a consistently positive experience. The attentive and pleasant service deserves special mention. The staff was friendly and professional, which made the visit very pleasant. You get good value for your money here. We can still recommend the restaurant.

They kept me waiting for a long time and were unkindly because I had not made a reservation and was alone, sending me to a smal& stuffy hall, and they were not welcoming at all.

There were four of us. Everything was great. The veal schnitzel was delicious. The creamy asparagus soup was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The staff were cheerful and welcoming. I’d love to come again.

On a wonderful Mother's Day Sunday in Berlin we had an excellent lunch with a Viennese veal schnitzel. The degree of browning on the Viennese veal schnitzel was perfect, as was the absolutely good taste. A portion of potato salad and cucumber salad was also served. There was also a portion of cranberries...we'll definitely be back, we can recommend Austria at any time

We tasted our way through a selection of classic dishes - each one a hit. The juice goulash was wonderfully tender, the bread dumplings had a perfect consistency and an excellent taste. The cheese spaetzle was a real highlight – creamy, spicy, and the fried onions on top were simply heavenly! The Wienerschnitzel, both small and large, was exactly as it should be: wonderfully thin, fried golden brown and still juicy. We were also impressed by the ambience: rustic and lovingly furnished in an old Austrian style, with beautiful paintings and traditional wooden decorations that immediately convey a warm, cozy feeling. We would also like to particularly emphasize the service: The waitress was very friendly and attentive, always there to help without being intrusive - a real plus! An all-round successful visit – we will definitely come back!

Stopped by spontaneously last Sunday. Courteous service and a great location. Definitely a recommendation to stop by on Sunday when there is a flea market - it gives you an extra dose of flair. What unfortunately didn't quite fit into the picture was the schnitzel. Mine was pretty stringy and the side dishes were pretty unspectacular too. Price performance for the Viennese schnitzel is not the best for me - not a €28 experience... The vegetarian schnitzel and the children's portion were decent and tasted very good (hence 4 stars). Next time I visit I will try a different dish.

We also had the pumpkin soup which was top notch! The portions are larger than what you would expect, which is amazing to me! Would definitely recommend!

We have been to this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed eating here. The schnitzel in particular was a safe choice for us, which was previously served with its own portion of cucumber salad and potato salad. This time, however, there was a change: Instead of everyone getting their own side dish, we were served a shared bowl of cucumber salad and a bowl of potato salad for four people. This means that the quantity is smaller compared to before. In addition, everyone eats different amounts, so individual portioning would have been more pleasant. It would have been nice if this change had been communicated beforehand or if people had had a choice. Otherwise, the food was delicious as usual, but we hope that the restaurant might reconsider this point.

I've been to Austria countless times and it always tastes fantastic. On our last visit there were six of us, four of us ordered the delicious Wiener Schnitzel. Without asking, we were served potato and cucumber salad as well as cranberries in a bowl to share. Unfortunately, far too little, especially if you know the individual portions from previous visits. It would have been desirable to first ask whether it would be shared and after criticizing the waiter, one could have reacted differently and perhaps offered a small “adjusted” helping instead of pointing out the additional costs.

Six of us were rudely rejected after the waiter and waitress briefly discussed whether they would “let us in or not”. Some of us spoke English and Turkish. The restaurant was half empty, it was the afternoon. Seems racist to me!

Restaurant with a great ambience, very good food. Staff very friendly and accommodating. It was a very pleasant stay. We made reservations online in advance because it can get busy, especially on weekends.

But there are exceptions that only confirm the rule... In Berlin, in the complex and multinational quarter of Kreuzberg, among countless kebab shops, pizzerias, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and Turkish restaurants, the Austria restaurant stands like a monument to an eternal classic. (On Tripadvisor - Austria Das Original). And unlike all other restaurants in the area, to get here you need to make a reservation in advance... In terms of the interior and “internal content”, Austria is an ordinary pub, of which there are still many left in the provinces of Austria and the Czech Republic... But! Ordinary, but not very... I love places like this! When you walk through the door, you don't just cross a simple wooden threshold. You are crossing a century. The entrance here is the same space-time continuum that takes you to another time, to another era, to the society of other people and generations... The spirit, the interior, the atmosphere, the sounds - everything is different. “Not like today’s”... And the owner of the establishment - a typical innkeeper of the 19th century - can “send” from the threshold, or she can receive with a smile and with open arms. I was lucky - I was greeted with a warm smile and seated at the best table in the corner, obviously pre-booked “for our own”... The dishes are “simple” Austrian (my picture is translated by Google), the portions are huge (I ordered a small schnitzel, when they brought it I asked again - is it small? What then is it big?), the prices are not small, but the dishes are worth it, the service is very homely and sweet... The hall is full of people! I didn't want to leave at all. I was glad that the portion was huge and I could eat it endlessly, drink very good beer and watch the guests... Families come here... Generations come here... People come here for happiness... For some, happiness is in beer, for others in Food, for someone in communication with friends and/or with people of your generation, worldview... But most likely, happiness for everyone is the combination of all this together... I sincerely recommend it! If you are in Berlin, come here for a special dinner... Austria Das Original is a passing nature. This either doesn’t exist anymore, or won’t happen very soon. Hurry up to catch... P.S. (В Трипадвайзере - Austria Das Original). И в отличии всех прочих ресторанов в этом районе, чтобы попасть сюда – нужно очень предварительно бронировать места… По интерьеру и «внутреннему содержания», Austria – это обычная пивнушка, которых еще много осталось в провинциях Австрии и Чехии… Но! Обычная, да не очень… Обожаю такие места! Входя в дверь, вы не только переступаете простой деревянный порог. Вы переступаете столетие. Вход сюда, этот тот самый пространственно-временной континуум, который переносит вас в другое время, в другую эпоху, в общество других людей и поколений… Дух, интерьер, атмосфера, звуки – все другое. «Не теперешнее»… И хозяйка заведения – типичная трактирщица 19-го века – может с порога «послать», а может принять с улыбкой и с распростёртыми объятьями. Мне повезло – меня встретили с радушной улыбкой и усадили лучший столик в уголке, явно предварительно забронированный «для своих»… Блюда «простые» австрийские (моя картинка с переводом Гуугл), порции огромные (это я маленький шницель заказал, когда принесли переспросил – это маленький? Что ж тогда большой?), цены – не маленькие, но блюдо того стоят, обслуживание – очень домашнее и милое... Народу – полный зал! Уходить мне не хотелось совсем. Я был рад тому, что порция огромная и можно было есть ее бесконечно, пить очень хорошее пиво и наблюдать за гостями… Сюда ходят семьями… Сюда ходят поколениями… Сюда ходят за счастьем… Для кого-то счастье в пиве, для кого-то в Еде, для кого-то в общении с друзьями и/или с людьми твоего поколения, мировоззрения… Но скорее всего – счастье для всех – это соединение всего этого вместе… Искренне рекомендую! Если вы в Берлине – приезжайте сюда ужинать специально… Austria Das Original – это уходящая натура. Такого или уже нет, или не будет совсем скоро.. Успейте застать… P.S. I'm in Berlin once a month on business and I wonder why I've only discovered this treasure now! The food is really fine and sophisticated - goat cheese pralines with all sorts of clever components on the plate, the carnation in it is surprising at first and immediately afterwards "WOW"! For the main course, meat is on point, really perfect! The service offers something for every guest requirement and was attentive, but I would still like to mention the (unskilled) young lady with the beautiful curls: warm and unobtrusive, but still "at the guest". In times of skilled labor shortages, a diamond worth keeping! However, everyone was pleasant and the two gentlemen were very professional. But more Vienna than Salzburg 😉 Ambience: Too many goats etc on the walls for me personally, otherwise cozy and really nice. You made an Austrian woman happy tonight 🙂

An absolutely quaint and authentic restaurant. The food was really great from the starter to the dessert. The highlights are definitely the schnitzel and the fried chicken. Courteous and friendly service is a very positive addition. It is advisable to reserve in advance (especially on weekends).

I went late into the night for my first dinner in Berlin, and was very satisfied! I had the veal schnitzel and everything tasted great. Not only the schnitzel itself, but the potato salad, cucumber salad, cranberry sauce, it was all very good. The atmosphere was quite comfy and pleasantly chill. The staff are so very friendly and helpful (and they speak fluent English as well). Overall this has been my best dining experience in Germany so far, and I'll be sure to keep this place in mind for my future visits to Berlin!

I had been to this place a couple of years ago and I expected an excellent experience both for the food and the service. On the contrary, I was disappointed because the place is decadent and the service is really poor. The schnitzel is still good. The worst aspect of this experience was the waiter who, in addition to complaining loudly to his colleague, proved to be unprofessional and not at all customer-oriented. I don't think I will ever return to this place again. I've been here a couple of years ago and I expected a great experience both for the food and the service. On the contrary I was disappointed because the place is decadent and the service really poor. The schnitzel is still good. The worst experience was the waiter service, he complained all the time out loud with his colleague being unprofessional and not customer oriented. I won't come back.

We had a snitzel here on the advice of Teun van de Keuken and it was great. Never seen such a big snitzel before! Basic side dishes of potato salad and cucumber salad but was perfect with the snitzel!

The Wiener Schnitzel was excellent, the Kaiserschmarrn was a dream, the beer was delicious, a successful evening in a great restaurant. Now all that's missing are the mountains... I'd love to do it again.
