Lots of improvement to do: - loud agressive music while trying to eat in peace - green salade taste like they forgot to wash it - serving cheap lidl products at extremely high prices - sauerkraut tastes like eas bought in a big bucket and heated. - schnitzel crust is not crunchy rather moist. - schnitzel served without the berry jam Either improve ur product quality or lower ur prices.

The goat cheese salad was a dream

The restaurant was packed. Reservation makes sense. Clear map. I chose meat similar to Leberkäs, but breaded. Plus warm potato salad. For dessert I had the Kleiner Kaiserschmarrn. I didn't know the way it was made in Austria. The finished baked parts with raisins and almonds were very good. Unfortunately the middle was too squishy, ​​which I didn't like at all and was therefore very powerful. Service was good. Drinks ok. What bothers me about the ambience is the old furniture thrown together. Which I'm sure others like, but unfortunately I don't. Still worth recommending.

Very friendly service, pleasant atmosphere. The quality of the food was rather mediocre: there was nothing wrong with the breaded celery schnitzels - especially because cranberries were served with them. The homemade vegetable soup with semolina dumplings was nicely served in a small soup pot with semolina dumplings. The ingredients for the potato and cucumber salad were fresh - but the salad, which was a bit too sour and too runny, didn't taste particularly good. What should be highlighted positively is that the team employee responded positively to the criticism of the vegetable broth. That was three years ago. Maybe the situation has improved now.

I had a craving for schnitzel on Sunday evening and ordered the Wiener Schnitzel, Käsespätzle and Kaiserschmarrn. Everything was so delicious, I'm happy to pay for it. I think the Kaiserschmarrn was the best I've ever had. I would love to come over as a guest soon and eat at your place. Yummyyyyy!!!!!

Food was great, although not exactly cheap. We couldn't get 2 food orders. Stable burnt down, so no fried chicken salad... Juice goulash from... Whiskey from... In general, one would have expected more than 3 on the menu for a schnitzel puff. It was also very loud and when we wanted to pay we had to say 3 times. We were disappointed with the schnitzel puff. However, the food was great.

Food was ok, but completely overpriced. The service is lackluster. The atmosphere is pretty dingy and the toilets are disgusting. The tables stink. Overall we won't be coming back.

Unfortunately, the Mutzenbacher has a new owner. You notice this both in the food (decreasing quality) but especially in the service! Here one star is still far too many. I don't know how many times the waiter walked past our table without taking further orders. Tables also remained uncleared and new customers were sent away anyway. It's a shame about this institution, but I won't visit it again.

The food was great! Unfortunately, it didn't seem like the staff particularly enjoyed their work or were interested in customer concerns. It was all a bit lackluster. The table directly by the door is not recommended in the cold season as it gets very drafty whenever the door is open and above seems to be the only window for ventilation. So there's still a bit of room for improvement here, but it's definitely worth it for the food!

One star for the tasty schnitzel, the service shouldn't be called service. The Kaiserschmarrn is simply a complete disaster. Atmosphere uncomfortable and tired. Yes, we are in hip Friedrichshain, but with the prices you should at least make a little effort.

Excellent food, the staff changes often but is always friendly. The restaurant is located in lively Friedrichshain, if you like quiet in the evening... That's the wrong place :) it's sociable and lively!

Holleridudödeldi...😁, if you like good food, if you like hospitality, if you like fun and good mood - this is the place for you👍🏼... There were four of us and we were hungry. The selection is good, as are the prices. Highly recommended is the Tyrolean sausage salad as a starter or the Kaiserschmarrn (which you can also try to eat as a main course😉)... The Wienerschnitzel is airy, the breading is light and the veal meat is very well prepared. Served with slightly warmed potato and cucumber salad which was extremely tasty. My wife was able to enjoy a juice goulash which she really enjoyed. Our companion enjoyed spinach dumplings and the delicious fried chicken salad. The crowning achievement is and was, as many have often mentioned here, the Kaiserschmarrn....an impossibly large portion that you can't manage on your own, so that everyone at the table got a delicious dessert...😋. .. The ambience is due to the trendy district and has its character - you like it or you don't like it... We would like to thank you again for the hospitality and will definitely pass on a recommendation.

Mutzenbacher - the schnitzel puff - is a good place to go for lovers of Austrian cuisine. The restaurant is located near Warschauer Straße. The schnitzels are sufficient, reasonably priced and also delicious. The store isn't particularly big, but that's exactly what gives it its charm. The mashed potatoes are only recommended as a side dish! The service is attentive, quick and well structured. At the end there is a “nightcap” on the house. It's a pleasure :)

I don't quite understand the concept - rustic furnishings, but modern house, techno music, that doesn't fit together in my opinion. The service leaves a lot to be desired, the staff is neither qualified nor capable of criticism. For me, the Wiener Schnitzel is actually just a breading - look at the photo and you'll know what I mean. Half is hollow, it just looks big. The meat is also very tough and that with a “veal schnitzel”??? The fries weren't crispy enough, so they were also a letdown. It's best to pay at the counter because it takes forever to get to the table. Everything is charged extra, so it's better to pay attention to how much you pay, there was an error on the invoice. Price-performance underground. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, once and never again.

If you like Austrian cuisine, you're in good hands here. The Kaiserschmarrn was absolutely amazing. Caramelized with almonds, cream mixed with cranberries, delicious applesauce and plum roast - simply delicious!!!

Omg the best service at Berlin and food great

I ate there yesterday with my family, to be honest the service was nice and OK, but to be honest we didn't like the food at all, the schnitzel was very tough and we personally didn't like it that much. And at the end there was literally the receipt, 106 euros for 2 schnitzels, 2 children's schnitzels, 4 fries, 4 drinks and 1 salad. My husband and I really had to swallow because we were told at the beginning that the fries and the schnitzel counted as one menu, but that wasn't the case. Honestly for this price we could have eaten something a thousand times better somewhere else - I've eaten better for less money. All I can say is it's not worth it. I don't understand why the store has so many stars, maybe a lot of people eat there after parties and then think it tastes good. I can only advise you against it

Great restaurant! Very kind waiter knowing that we came for dinner around 9:45 p.m. (quite late for Berlin). The dishes are delicious and original. We enjoyed ourselves.

The service was very routinely attentive, everything was ok so far. We were probably unlucky when it came to eating. The Wienerschnitzel was nothing special, the cucumber potato salad was a tragedy, everything was very salty and the wine was German. too warm, the menu didn't work. For me, the Mutzenbacher is a classic tourist check-in point in which, as is so often the case in F-hain, the price-performance ratio is simply not right. My wife felt the same way. What a shame! The schnitzel is a real schnitzel. This is rare in Berlin. And it tastes good. It was perhaps a little small and the presentation a little bland. The service colleagues are friendly and do a good job. What even the best waiter is powerless against is the crowd of people who push past you while you're eating, including the occasional bullying junkie, because you're sitting in a popular tourist hotspot. And the wobbly chairs made us worried about breaking in while eating. I tried three different ones. Conclusion: Great shop, but unfortunately not in my top 3 for schnitzel in Berlin.

This was our second time eating at Mutzenbacher. You have to try the spinach dumplings tossed in butter. A poem. And first the Kaiserschmarrn; is served in a pan with plums, applesauce and cream-raspberry compote. Quite excellent. I would also like to highlight the service. Attentive, friendly and always a few words for the guests. The five of us left very satisfied and will come back.

The food was delicious and authentic. The slices were quickly on the table. Unfortunately the waiter then forgot about us. We had to wait 35 minutes for our dessert (Kaiserschmarrrn)!!! Drinks were no longer requested after the first round! It's a shame actually.

Unser nächster Restaurantbesuch im Rahmen Schlemmerblock Berlin war das Mutzenbacher. Vorab hatten wir einige derbe Kritiken auf TA gelesen und waren daher inbesondere auf das Ambiente und Flair gespannt. Wir können sagen: Es handelt sich um eine typische Schankwirtschaft mit deftiger Küche. Wer mit dieser Erwartungshaltung hierherkommt, wird nicht enttäuscht. Die drei Männer, die an dem Abend den Laden schmissen, haben jederzeit Vollgas gegeben. Wenn (wie an unserem Abend) eine Truppe von 11 Herren zum Junggesellenabschied kommt, dann kann es eben etwas dauern - uns hat es getaugt. Als Speisen hatten wir das klassiche Schnitzel mit Kartoffel- und Gurkensalat. Etwas mehr Panade als Schnitzel und preislich am oberen Rand, alles sehr schmackhaft zubereitet. Fantastisch und über jeden Zweifel erhaben war die riesige Portion Kaiserschmarrn (und es war nur die kleine Portion von der Karte) - wunderbar und preislich am unteren Rand. In Summe hat es für uns prima gepasst.

We used to come to this place quiet often, as the Schnitzel used to be good. We we back to Mutzenbacher after a 6 month break, because the last time we went, a blonde male water was extremly rude/unpleasent. Unfortunately this time the schnitzel tasted as if the meat had expired and the potato salad was made without love. Furthermore the Schnitzel was 50% Panade/Crust and only 50% meat. My girlfriend didnt even eat half of her Schnitzel, because it tasted so off. Combine this with paying over 60€ and we realized that we will never come back. There are much better Schnitzel locations in Fhain.

Food is delicious. Unfortunately very loud electronic music that made the place feels more like a club than a restaurant.

I have no idea what it's like there. We didn't make a reservation, but the table wasn't declared accordingly. After 10 minutes we asked for a menu, counter question "Have you reserved". When after another 15 minutes there were still no requests for drinks, we went to Schalander. It's a bit more spartan there but it's really very good.

It tasted very good. Waiting time 40 minutes. Two cellars too few. Are you overwhelmed?

It‘s a cozy small restaurant on the side of a rather busy road. The Wiener Schnitzel was delicious, the Gurkensalat was juicy and refreshing. I would come again if I ever crave Schnitzel again. Besides the great food there were some things that could have been better. Sitting down it took us a while to even get the menu, the staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized, which can happen. However, we were told to choose any table and all free tables were uncleaned, it would have been nice if they cleaned up the table once we sat down. Given it was quite busy and the food was yummy I would still recommend going here.

The food was really tasty, the service was extremely bad, the waiter was drinking beer, had an extremely cold and we didn't feel well. Neither wine nor coke was available. The music was extremely strenuous and didn't fit the ambience at all. We won't come back again.

I'm not so much into German/Austrian food (or schnitzel) but the food here was delicious. All four of us enjoyed the food we ordered and we even had a bit of a laugh with the staff/waiter. If you want to try some schnitzel, or knöddel, or a variety of things they have on their menu, this is the place to try it.

The food was very good and it's definitely a recommendation to come back here. Also, the tasty raspberry schnapps is worth to come her. It took probably 10 mins until we got the menu, which was a slow start, but the guy serving us was very friendly and made good recommendations. His type of humor though may not be liked by everybody. Also, we wanted to order dessert, and we even talked about it before ordering the mains, but when asking for it, the kitchen was already closed. Good for the purse and the belly bad for the restaurant and the spirit. I would have assumed that we would have asked if we were still willing to order dessert when the chef was still there. Anyways, I will come back to order dessert earlier in the day as I hope it will taste as good as the other food we had.

I've known the Mutzenbacher for several years and so far I've had little or nothing to complain about. But since last night I definitely have to revise my opinion! I have rarely seen such disinterested service staff as yesterday. One of them was slouching persistently in a corner, drinking beer, and seemed more concerned about not drawing attention to himself by providing too much service to the guest. The second colleague managed quite successfully to move cleared dishes from one table to the other and ignore them for quite some time. He was also able to ignore my well-intentioned attempts to draw his attention to the fact that I had been there for at least. Waited 15 minutes for my 2nd beer. At least the employee lounging in the corner interpreted my waving hand movements with the empty beer glass correctly and informed his colleague. Then, quite surprisingly, the food arrived, parts of it... A sausage salad and a schnitzel. Well, the side dishes for the schnitzel and the roll with the sausage salad would definitely come soon. That's why we didn't let ourselves be disturbed. But after about 5 minutes my friend went to the staff, after we had of course continued to be successfully ignored. I know she's daring! And what can I say, there were the orphaned side dishes at the counter, also ignored by the staff. But forget about it! At least the schnitzel was still a bit lukewarm and we could finally eat. So my girlfriend does. Unfortunately, I discovered that my sausage salad was enriched with pepper strips of all colors, shall we say..., and completely acidic. Now peppers are a matter of taste. But the whole sausage salad tasted more like pepper salad and had nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with a sausage salad. That's why I'll just let the dry "roll" fall under the table... It happened as it had to, I had the salad returned with the aforementioned instructions. Any reaction would have been enough for me by now. I would have simply accepted an annoyed eye roll as grateful recognition! But nothing! We don't feel sorry for anyone, or maybe something else, etc. We then just wanted to leave, paid (sausage salad was paid out independently, at least) and certainly won't be coming back any time soon. What a shame actually! I previously knew the Mutzenbacher as a restaurant with good food and casual, competent, service-oriented staff. But if what happened yesterday continues like this, then I'm out! A quick word about the price. I'm happy to pay that for good quality, but quality includes not only the quality of the goods but also the quality of service. Both should be right! Unfortunately it didn't do that yesterday!

Shabby chic meets schnitzel. Chairs and tables wobble. The schnitzel was large and freshly prepared. However, the excessive breading fell off. If you like it, this is the place for you, it wasn't mine. Service was good.

Delicious schnitzel, potato salad and the cheese spaetzle were really good, pretty full, you should definitely reserve a table. The sanitary rooms need a renovation.

Food was very good 👍 Service was also quite good, but the whole thing went a bit too quickly. The main course was already there even though we were still on the starter. There were four of us at the table and two of us got the main course. Our friends had to wait a little longer... it's a shame otherwise it's a great place for delicious food.

Schnitzel and G'selchtes were really good and original, good flavors - and you dare to season them. Service was nice and unpretentious, questions about the preparation and the wine (roter Veltliner, rarely available in Berlin - praise for the selection here too) were answered promptly and accurately. The house music alone as a constant background took some getting used to and I also know chairs that are much more comfortable. But we will still come back...

Mutzenbacher, a restaurant with Austrian cuisine, the Schnitzelpu*. The latter doesn't really deserve the name given the limited selection The menu is kept concise, which makes selection easier. Many other restaurants can compete better in terms of price/performance ratio, where you not only get a piece of meat for a lot of money, but also the side dish Stay away from the veal cream goulash. Supposedly it should always be flawless; For me, half of it wasn't made of meat, but just pieces of fat, disgusting. Addendum 26/01/2024 : this comment dates back to February 2023 but the restaurant suppressed it once and is now trying to have google suppress it via their lawyer, a behavior which I find absolutely outrageous. No excuse, no commercial gesture from the owners whatsoever and now this, but I won’t withdraw my comment. Sorry guys. Why this restaurant is so popular is behind my understanding. I would rate it 2 for the food cause it is ok but expensive, schnitzels are good but not exceptional, the spatzles are very bad no taste, no texture and a ton of butter, the kaiserschmarrn is surprisingly bland for smth looking this spectacular and nice. The service though is a 1/5, it is the most unprofessional service I have experienced in Berlin so far having to wait 40 minutes to get two small bottles of water asking twice for it and finally having to go and find the waiter, who was casually speaking with friends, to be served.

This is a fantastic restaurant if you like authentic schnitzel. Their original Wiener Schnitzel has the lightest, most flavourful breading I've ever had (better than any schnitzel I've had in Austria). And the staff is outstanding: attentive, friendly and full of fun. Be sure to say hello to JJ and Yannick.

Wir hatten das Schnitzel, die rote Beete Knödel und Käsespätzle. Es war alles ausgezeichnet und die Portionen sind reichhaltig! Außerdem ist das Restaurant sehr hundefreundlich. Kann man nur empfehlen.

Das Mutzenbacher war vor einigen Jahren irgendwie wesentlich besser.. Unsere Gerichte kamen mit 5 Minuten Abstand und eine Portion Pommes wurde kompletto vergessen. Das Schnitzel mit Panade ist eigentlich Panade mit ein bisschen Schnitzel (kein Witz). Und irgendwie ist alles kaum gewürzt. Dann nächstes Mal vielleicht doch lieber Felix, Jolesch oder Borchardt.. Das Brathändl war innen Butterweich und die Panade hat super geschmeckt. Richtig gut. Die Bedienung war super gelaunt und hatte Spass an der Arbeit. Für das Trinkgeld gab es sogar extra ein Verdauungsschnäpas. Die Örtlichkeit ist zwar klein, aber fein. Lohnt sich aber!
