Restaurant Athos in Nürnberg

The Athos at this address has been closed since April 22, 2025 because the house is scheduled for demolition. New address expected from the beginning of June: Poppenreuther Straße 21. This is the former Wirtshaus Paradies. Unfortunately, the Gugel does not accept the change. Therefore here as a pseudo review.

the beer garden is great. It's a shame it has to close. but the food was so mediocre. today the liver e.g. tough. everything else is more mass than class

All in all it's rated 3 stars. Portions just too small for the prices. One can argue about taste, but there are better Greek restaurants in the Johanniser area and also cheaper ones.

We ate at this restaurant. The food was good. However, the staff, especially the owner of the restaurant, was extremely rude and showed no compassion. As we were about to leave, my mother accidentally stepped on a step and fell. Although both the owner and the two waitresses - a waiter and a waitress - noticed the incident, neither of them reacted. Nobody asked if my mother was okay or if she needed help. This lack of compassion and ignorance was shocking. We definitely won't visit this restaurant again.

Very good and tasty fish and seafood dishes and a really great beer garden in summer. The starter plates are highly recommended. Price-performance ratio absolutely fine, large portions. The staff is very friendly.

The location consists of two rooms, separated by a hallway to the backyard, through which you can also access the san. Facilities reached. The menu is completely overloaded, the dishes are prepared in the usual way, but some are tasty, some are too large portions. It is very loud and cramped, not a feel-good atmosphere where you would like to stay longer. The service was stressed, the lady at the drinks was very annoyed, the guest saw and heard that. Conclusion: Everyone is happy to do what they want, I don't anymore!

We are regular guests and here you can just enjoy yourself with great service and staff. If you haven't eaten here yet, you've really missed something. Always great! Thanks!

Stopped here spontaneously and received a very friendly welcome (we got a table straight away after a short wait), the food is cheap and we'll be happy to come back when we're in Nuremberg.

We left straight away after we were told rather briskly that we only had half an hour left. Then it will be closed.

The best Greek restaurant in Johannis! We regularly go out for dinner with the family. The garden is particularly beautiful in the evening. Nice staff. Absolutely fair price. You should make a reservation on the weekend. Thanks!

Beef liver tasted “mushy”. Gyros and calamari were okay, but nothing more. Price/performance too expensive. Better smaller portions at a cheaper price.

Varied menu with great dishes. Nice big beer garden and great atmosphere. Always happy and highly recommended. It's best to make your own impression. The menu tempts you to visit several times.

My friend and I ate at this restaurant and were initially very satisfied. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. However, there was one incident that marred our experience. Unfortunately, I found a piece of wire in my food, which I pointed out to the waitress at the end of our visit. The waitress was obviously uncomfortable with the situation, but unfortunately there was no apology, which disappointed us. Instead, when we paid we were simply told that we didn't have to pay a tip. We wish the situation had been handled differently. Of course, a piece of wire has no place in food, and we understand that such things can happen. However, in such cases, an apology and an assurance that the incident would be reported to the kitchen would be the least we would have expected. It's a shame, because otherwise it would have been a very successful lunch.

Beautiful garden and the food was very good, but the service was absolutely terrible. We were there with 5 people. Ouzo as a welcome - none. Other tables yes, no for us. The waitress came once and took the order and after the food was served we were more or less ignored. The glasses were empty and no one cared. It took almost an hour after dinner before we were finally able to order our dessert. The staff was totally annoyed and unfriendly even though not even a quarter of the tables in the garden were occupied. It's a shame but there's no option for us to visit the restaurant again.

Great food, great service. First there was ouzo :-) Nice introduction and the food was good and tasty. Cold starter platter, everything fresh and homemade and the food was also very good.

Always happy to come here. In summer, the beer garden in the inner courtyard offers space for families. The food is great and the staff is polite and child-friendly. In general, the atmosphere on site is always nice. Dorf Teller is highly recommended.

Huge portion for a reasonable price

Waren kurzfristig an einem Sonntagabend da. Essen ist reichlich und schmeckt gut. Biergarten mit Schirme vorhanden. Tramhalte direkt vor der Türe. Essen wird zügig serviert, nette Mitarbeitende. Uns hat es gefallen und die Preise sind auch okay. Gerne wieder !

Große menüauswahl, sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Essen sowohl typisch griechisch wie auch regional griechisch. Preise sehr moderat.

We spontaneously visited the beer garden and didn't regret it. There is a lot of space outside and it is well furnished. The service staff are quick and friendly. There are small sculptures and murals here and there. There was ouzo as a welcome. My wife chose the eggplant puree as a starter. I got sheep's cheese baked in breading. There was also white bread. Both were beautifully prepared and tasted delicious. For the main course we chose lamb shank. Hers was topped with pasta and cheese and mine was topped with white beans. The meat was very tender and cooked to perfection. Both the pasta and the beans came in the same tomato sauce, which unfortunately was too salty for us. It could well be that it was just too salty that day. The portions are big enough and you'll be full. There was also a mixed salad which was fresh. The dressing for the salad was appropriate and was at the bottom of the plate. Overall, a cozy restaurant with delicious food and a nice atmosphere (were not in the restaurant but in the beer garden). There are a few parking spaces directly at the entrance on a gravel lot (approx. 6 spaces). Would love to come back.

..when things get a bit hectic, orders are quickly forgotten, mixed up or only realized later... but that may just be an exception. Otherwise everything is ok.

There's nothing more to say than awarding stars, everything is wonderful. Even the price is the same as it used to be when the world was still in order.

Nice family-run Greek restaurant with a large beer garden 🍺 where you can sit comfortably when the weather is nice. The food was very tasty 😋 plus the food was prepared pretty quickly. There was parking in front of the door. You could perhaps hire 1-2 more service staff.

Cozy restaurant with subtle Greek images and olive trees. Sole fillet and calamari with a side salad tasted very good and the portion is a lot, you can't manage almost everything. Staff very nice and quick. The only thing that bothered me was the noise level, it's not possible to have a conversation because the room is large, but there was noise; Maybe it's a little more relaxed during the week, we definitely want to come during the week. Parking spaces are available in the yard.

Unfortunately, we couldn't go to the planned birthday party because we weren't allowed to enter the restaurant with our dogs. Although we have been in the restaurant with our dogs in recent years. It is also not clear on the door or similar outside the restaurant that dogs are no longer welcome. Nothing is visible on Google either, see picture.

Unser Lieblingsgrieche. Tolles Essen, freundlicher Service.

Mal einen anderen Griechen, das war unser Plan. Wir gingen ins Athos. Erster Eindruck, getrennte Gastsstuben, was die Atmosphäre auflockert. Schon mal sehr schön, urig eingerichtet, freundlich und schnelles Personal. Was das Essen angeht, wir hatten eine warme Vorspeisenplatte für zwei Personen geordert. Sehr gut, sehr fein und extrem reichlich. Genauso wie unser Hauptgang, es war gut, aber durch die Vorspeise, blieb selbst auf meinem Teller mal was liegen. Fazit, immer gerne wieder.

Einfach immer wieder lecker, und im Sommer im schönen Garten.

Der Biergarten im Sommer ist wirklich Top. Im Winter ist das Lokal quasi zweigeteit. Das heißt die Kellner müssen ständig zwischen den beiden Räumen hin und herlaufen. Das bringt eine unangenehme Hektik mit sich. Auch steht dann ständig die Tür offen, und es zieht kalt durch den Raum. Mein Fazit: Nur im Sommer eine Option

Wir haben im September im Biergarten gesessen. Das Essen war sehr lecker, der Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und vor allem auch sehr kinderfreundlich. Wer gern griechisch isst, ist hier wirklich richtig. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Mein Lieblingsgrieche. Das Essen ist immer sehr lecker, dabei ist es egal, ob griechisches oder deutsches Gericht, die Bedienung freundlich und das Ambiente besonders an Sommerabende unschlagbar schön. Nur die Auswahl an vegetarischer Küche könnte man nochmal um 3-5 Gerichte erweitern. Sonst nur zu empfehlen.

Schöner Biergarten, gute griechische Küche und aufmerksamer Service.

Wir waren spontan das erste mal im Athos Biergarten, sehr ruhig und nette Atmosphäre. Zack kaum gesessen OUZO⬅️😄( den haben wir uns schön geredet) bei den super lustigen Kellnern. Die Getränke Aufnahme ging schnell. Getränke/Essen kamen in wenigen Minuten und kein langes warten. Die sehr leckeren Portionen waren riesig, also vorsichtig mit den Vorspeisen. Jeder Zeit zu empfehlen, weiter so 👍💪
