Dinner in December during the Christmas market season. It was really delicious and the vaulted cellar was truly cozy. A real treat. The waiters were cheerful and efficient. Very reasonably priced for the location, in my opinion—no tourist trap here! Three large drinks, two meals (including a special request), and two ice creams for €60. Seriously, how/who could possibly complain about that?

First, the good points. The ambiance is quaintly German, and pretty much the only good thing about it. They can serve carbonated drinks... but they don't have to... standard tricks to save costs. The steak was tough... at least it was cooked to medium. You can't go wrong with the salad... Yeah, right: the turkey breast strips were bottom-of-the-barrel in terms of both taste and texture. The salad had clearly seen better days. A dry sauerbraten with gravy? Impossible? Not at all, they manage to make it dry. The bratwurst from the last dish was okay... The bread is probably similar to what you'd get at Aldi... it might even be from there... if you want a good meal, avoid this place. Otherwise, it will continue to be overrun by tourists... who only come once anyway.

All was good. We went there without reservation but they were friendly and gave us a good table. Food was not amazing but fine. Beer was good. We liked this place. İt is fine I recommend.

The potato soup was tasteless. The worst part was that a worker was restocking the table when he dropped the soup on the floor (dirty and busy), picked it up, and put it back with the clean ones 😱🤮. Then the waiter came and put them on a table. The tables are cleaned with a rag that's in a bowl of dirty water—the rag is even dirtier. What about bacteria 🦠? An experience I definitely won't repeat.

Everything is geared towards mass production. The Wiener Schnitzel arrived after only 5 minutes, and the food wasn't really hot, more like cold. At the next table, the two Wiener Schnitzels with fried potatoes were even sent back because the potatoes were cold. The whole place smelled of grease. We wouldn't go there again. We regretted going afterwards.

We ate there on November 22, 2025, on the recommendation of another restaurant. This year's Christmas market lured us to this lovely town. Unfortunately, the food (two cordon bleu with fries and a tiny side salad) was absolutely terrible! It was basically cardboard slapped on top of some lukewarm, greasy fries (no fresh oil used for frying). We've had better meals at a fast-food joint. What's the point if a restaurant prioritizes quantity over quality?! From us (and we eat out quite often), we do NOT recommend it. This dish, in particular, is not worth the hefty price. The cake in the refrigerated display case opposite, however, looked very good. The waitress was reservedly friendly and, when she asked if we had enjoyed our meal, she wasn't particularly surprised by my answer. We do not recommend this restaurant at all, at least not for this food. Mass production deluxe!!!!

We were at your restaurant on Saturday around 6:30. It was packed, but we still managed to get a small table for two. The waiter was incredibly friendly from the start and took all our special requests with a cheerful "Ha! We'll just make something up." In the end, the food arrived almost exactly as ordered. 😁 I absolutely loved the pork knuckle with dumplings and sauerkraut. And in the end, the bill for the two of us came to just under €50, and we were both completely stuffed. Definitely worth a recommendation.

Most of the food had ridiculously bland taste or tasted just really bad (oversalted, over sweetened), the miller trout wasn't even properly cooked and was raw inside. Therefore overall disappointing. And it wasn't exception with one or two melas, we were group of 7 people and had different meals and none of them was enjoyable or good.

The plates arrived incomplete; the salmon plate consisted of fish and potatoes – uninspired and lacking any care. The Wiener Schnitzel was extremely ragged, and both plates were missing salad.

When I sent my trout back because it tasted completely muddy, it was returned to our table with the chef's explanation: "That's just how it tastes." As a complimentary amuse-bouche, we were offered melted butter to improve the flavor, which unfortunately did nothing to change the fact that the fish tasted muddy. The waiter then said he couldn't do anything about it, as the chef always has the final say. However, a chef should also be familiar with the concept of "soaking," where fish that live in muddy waters are soaked in water before preparation to remove unwanted flavors, or the fish is marinated in lemon juice beforehand. Of course, such things can happen, but the two stars are for how the problem was handled, as there were absolutely no compromises and we still had to pay the full price. If my partner's meal hadn't been good and the waiter hadn't been so attentive, it would have only received one star.

Large portions and delicious, just like mom's. I would eat there again in a heartbeat. I had roast pork with red cabbage and dumplings. My son had the Wiener Schnitzel, and my wife had the Leberkäse (liver sausage). Everything was delicious and very plentiful.

We were privileged to celebrate our civil wedding in the Ratsstube (Ratsstube) – and it was simply fantastic! 💍✨ From the flexible handling of our time difference to the lovely champagne reception, the delicious appetizer, the magnificent à la carte main course, and the cake buffet – everything was perfect. A very special thank you goes to our attentive, incredibly friendly waitress, who accompanied us throughout the evening. She truly fulfilled our every wish. The beautifully decorated private room made the celebration even more special. The warm atmosphere, the fantastic food, and the perfect organization made our day unforgettable. Highly recommended!

The food could be better, it was delicious, but there were dishes that could be improved. The soup is too thin and too spicy. The beer is a 10.

We were there yesterday. It was very hectic because of a party. I ordered a Coke and bratwurst with fries and it was very disappointing. Two bratwursts on my plate and a handful of fries. The food was lukewarm. It also took a very long time to be ready and by then I had already finished my drink. The service was okay. I had calculated a different price and asked the service why I was paying so much. His answer was that the meal costs 12 euros but because I had fries there was a 2 euro surcharge. And on top of that he gave me a very rude reply: I don't cheat. All in all, the portions are too small for the price.

Small portion, I ordered salad with chicken breast. The chicken breast was almost cold, and I wasn't full. My daughter had a hash brown, which was also only lukewarm. I'd rather have gone around the corner to the kebab shop; I would have paid less, would have been full, and the price would have been less expensive. Be careful what they serve you. I’m a tour guide and I had gave them second and last chance. Absolutely rubbish and tourists trap. No more at all and as well not with my clients. Salad was old like grandma, meat taste like carpet. Please avoid this restaurant if you want to sleep well after dinner.

As other guests have already described: the focus here is on handling the masses of tourists. The overwhelmed and hectic staff couldn't keep up with the influx of guests. I had onion soup, which was still reasonably good. However, the rump steak with fries that followed left a lot to be desired. The rump steak never weighed 200 grams, and the fries were absolutely cold. When I politely pointed out that the fries were cold, I simply received a "that's a shame." I then had to point out the bill three times and wait 25 minutes. I already had my business card on the table and was about to leave before I was finally allowed to pay. Next time I visit Rothenburg, I'll choose a different restaurant away from the market square.

I had a table outside, and the waiter arrived after a short wait. I ordered a salad with cheese, cooked ham, and olives for 12 euros. It came with apple spritzer. Unfortunately, the salad didn't come with a piece of bread or anything similar, and it was very small and didn't fill me up.

I've been coming to Rothenburg for 25 years from the states because my wife is from here. It took me 25 years to stop in and it was very good. It is priced appropriately and not overpriced like many tourists locations. Food was good. I'm not going to exaggerate and say amazing but very good Bavarian meal at a low price point. Environment and service were 5 stars.

location is nice, service is good, but the food ... I had some asparagus with the usual sauce hollandaise - and the sauce was totally 'industrial'. I mean, if you have 'asparagus weeks' with 10 meals including a special sauce, why would you not produce it yourself?

We visited the Ratsstube (council chamber) in sunny weather and immediately sat outside, right on the market square opposite the town hall. We ordered our food and drinks. Our server was friendly and competent. The market square filled up for the Glockenspiel (carillon) with Meistertrunk (drink) at 12:00 p.m. We all had a good view of the spectacle. Full and refreshed by the drink, we continued our city tour.

We were there today. Yes, it's a tourist restaurant. However, you'd still expect the staff to know where things belong. It's a shame that this chaos has continued throughout. The drinks weren't brought until the food arrived, and only after I asked. The waitress who then took our check asked if everything was okay. We told her that the salad was missing from our meal and the dumplings weren't any bigger than golf balls. The answer was: I was just assigned a table. Well, it was reasonable for what we got, but we wouldn't recommend it.

We weren't actually guests, but rather at the Prezel pastry shop next door (outdoors). Unfortunately, we witnessed the unfriendliness of one of the waiters. Potential guests were ignored and dismissed. They had actually only asked if the reserved tables were actually reserved. About 10 minutes later, another waiter released the seats. Apparently, service isn't a priority. One reason for us not to list the restaurant as a potential next stop. We expressly cannot offer a review of the drinks and food offered.
