Good service, courteous and friendly. The beer from the Landwehr brewery is excellent. We had knuckle with sauerkraut and dumplings. All in all very tasty and okay for the price

A waiter tries to send away guests who just want to have a drink with the words: It's bad now that you are now (4:00 p.m.) would still be lunchtime and there would be coffee and cake next door for people like us. Of course we didn't let the boy scare us away. He then sent his colleague to us to serve us. She was very friendly and then told us that this colleague's behavior was known to the team and that she would be happy to receive a corresponding review. We know the name of the waitress. Otherwise we really liked it in the Ratsstube. The prices and selection are good. Have been there several times and will come back.

Food was just bad. It's pure mass production. The waiter also stopped coming and we would have liked to have had something to drink. However, in almost 35 minutes no one came to serve us again. The food was lukewarm and completely bland. The schnitzel was also slightly burnt and the fries were just soggy. We wouldn't recommend the restaurant to anyone.

I would have loved to be able to comment on the quality of the restaurant's cuisine, but unfortunately when we arrived at 7.24pm to come and eat, the waiter who was on the phone in front of the restaurant turned us away with a disdainful wave of his hand. We asked if it was possible to eat and he repeated the sign, not even addressing us. When the restaurant has a page saying they close at 9:30pm, being repelled before 7:30pm is a bit unpleasant, moreover by an unfriendly waiter incapable of having the courtesy to speak to you to explain the reason for an early closure.

We were there as a family with 2 adults and 2 children (10 & 7). There is home-style Franconian cuisine. The waiting times for the food were rather longer. The food was not visually very appealing. Still, it tasted good. The atmosphere is rustic but cozy. We paid a total of just under €70 for food and drinks. That's absolutely fine. Overall the visit was pleasant ✌🏻🤩💯.

Our guide recommended this restaurant to eat and we really ate very well! It was our first contact with German food. We ordered typical food and it didn't taste much. Without a doubt if we return to Rotenburg we will eat at this restaurant again. Good and fast service. The restaurant is decorated in a medieval atmosphere.

Good German fare in a very accessible location on the Rathaus square. It's worth noting that some of the Trip Advisor recommended restaurants are closed in winter, while others take "rest days" and aren't open. The restaurant was very busy, service was friendly and quick, and the food was good. If you're looking to take the weight off your feet and have a decent meal, you could do far worse.

Even though we hadn't made a reservation, they did everything they could to quickly offer us a table. The food was great. The sauerbraten and the onion roast were very tasty! The apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and cream for dessert was a successful conclusion. The prices are reasonable. If there is anything that can be criticized at all, it is that some of the tables are only separated by railings and there is little privacy, especially at peak times. Overall, highly recommended. We definitely weren't here for the last time!

We wanted to have a drink in the council chamber. After we were seated in the basement and we "only" ordered drinks and coffee, the service staff very rudely pointed out that if we didn't eat anything, they wouldn't have seated us in the first place. He constantly has to run up and down the stairs for drinks and doesn't earn anything from it. However, there wasn't much else going on. We paid straight away and then left the restaurant. Wir haben uns sehr auf das Abendessen sehrgefreut - Schweinshaxen und Maultaschen. Die Schweinhaxe war fein, die Maultaschen eine Katastrophe (siehe Bild). Als der Keller fragte ob die Maultaschen einpacken soll, sagten wir "Nein, lieber nicht: die Maultaschen waren keine Meisterleisung..." Die Antwort kam gehetzt und unfreundlich "ihr hättet dies zu Beginn sagen sollen, jetzt kann ich nichts mehr tun". Schön, dass man am Schluss noch Vorwürfe bekommt, anstatt eine ehrliche Rückmeldung ernst zu nehmen! Schon bei der Platzzuweisung waren die Kellern gehetzt. Schade, auch wenn während Christkindlmarkt viele Gäste da sind - ein Lächeln kostet nichts und Freundlichkeit sieht anders aus. Fazit: War das letzte Mal! So verliert man Kunden und bekommt eine schlecht Bewertung!

Food is more of a mass-produced meal. When the place is full, it is incredibly loud and uncomfortable. I had heartburn for a long time after eating sauerbraten, but that doesn't happen if I eat it elsewhere. Quite a tourist magnet with no taste. The service is very attentive.

The staff was very rude. The food was too salty, and we waited over 30 minutes for our food, but the table next to us, who arrived at the same time, got all their food and even dessert. We called the waiter three times, but he ignored us. I heard this place is racist, so if you're Asian, don’t go there. It ruined our night.

Unfortunately the charm and quality of a train station rest stop. The onion soup lacked onions and flavor. Hash browns and Gordon Bleu were greasy. Salad mini portion, drowned in mayonnaise dressing. Fries not crispy. The price was too high for the portion. Staff friendly. Unfortunately, price performance was not achieved.

Auf ein weisen hin, dass wir gerne zu zweit wären wurde keine Rücksicht genommen und es setze sich eine Familie mit Kind an unseren Tisch. Nun, bis hierhin Okay. Der Zeitpunkt war eben schlecht gewählt und wir sind ja auch keine Unmenschen. AABER Wenn doch dann der Service und vor allem das Essen okay wäre. Ich habe noch niemals in meinem Leben einen solchen Lieblos hergerichteten Teller gesehen. Fleisch Pommes Gut, ohne hübsch angerichtete Kräuterbutter… Salatblatt oder ähnliches. Okay ich hatte ja auch NUR ein Rinderfilet bestellt mit Pommes. Ich wurde gefragt ob Medium .. Sehr gern … Das wundersam kleine Fleischstück kam natürlich komplett durchgebraten. Wusste garnicht dass man ein Rinderfilet so vergewaltigen kann. Die Pommes waren kalt und von dem her war es auch nicht schlimm dass sie nicht wirklich zahlreich auf dem Teller vorhanden waren. Man merkt, es wird überall gespart. Alles in Allem eine Katastrophe. Wäre es jetzt nicht ein „erstes date“ gewesen .. hätte ich vermutlich meinem Unmut freien Lauf gelassen.. wollte da aber kein Fass aufmachen. Trinkgeld gab es keines. Ach .. das Schnitzel der Dame war auch in halber Handflächengröße ebenfalls nüchtern bemessen. Eig. Schade um die Zeit hier .. aber es musste einfach raus.

Super cozy restaurant. My companion and I were warmly welcomed even without a reservation and were given a table straight away, even though it was already quite full. Orders were taken straight away and our food came very quickly. Overall, the team made a well-coordinated impression and looked after us very courteously. The food and drinks were also very tasty and reasonably priced. The portions filled us up after a long walk through Rothenburg. We can only recommend the Ratsstube and would be happy to come back.

Our selected dishes were very tasty and the service was super nice and accommodating. The price-performance ratio is also right. I think it's highly recommended.

Since many restaurants are closed at lunchtime, our selection was limited. We were faced with the decision between kebab and council room. The kebab cost €9.50 and we thought it would be better to pay a little more and then eat something sensible. The decision was made in the council chambers. The place is nice and cozy, but we should have preferred the kebab. The food was lukewarm and dry and we paid €50 for the two of us.

Da zu Mittagszeit viele Resaurants geschloßen haben, war unsere Auswahl begrenzt. Wir standen vor der Entscheidung zwischen Döner und Ratsstube. Der Döner kostete 9,50€ und wir habe uns gedacht, lieber etwas mehr bezahlen und dann was vernünftiges zu essen. Die Entscheidung viel auf Ratsstube. Das Lokal ist schön und gemütlich, aber wir hätten lieber den Döner nehmen sollen. Das Essen war lauwarm und trocken und bezahlt habe wir zu zweit 50€.

Very tasty home cooking! We were in the council chambers with 4 people on a cold November day. There was sauerbraten, roast pork, knuckle and cabbage roulade. Overall everyone loved their food, it's really reasonable prices and very good portions. The light tastes very tasty and even though you think it's a typical tourist place - it really tastes like grandma's. The prices are designed so that a lot of people can eat here, otherwise you wouldn't be able to keep the prices up, so it's relatively noisy and an open facility. I only gave it 4 stars because it could have been decorated more lovingly, but that wouldn't stop me from going there again. The staff is super friendly and our dog even got something to drink and was greeted lovingly.

A great reasonably priced bite to eat with friendly and efficient service. We had the bratwurst, potato soup, and salad with chicken strips because I can’t eat any more pork today… Bratwurst was delish and the spaetzel was al dente and yummy. Salad was good with fresh grilled chicken on top.

We went in with little expectations, as it was more tourist-oriented and seemed to be a fast-food restaurant in the guise of a traditional establishment. The food was prepared quickly and appropriately, tasty and good. And cheap considering the quality. The ambience is striving for tradition, but has something of a Disney-like, tourist-friendly setting with a friendly but mass-oriented throughput. That's a bit disturbing. But overall recommended.

We ordered sauerbraten as a meat dish and potato rosti as a vegetarian meal and were very satisfied. The taste, quality and portion size were really satisfactory. But above all, we were impressed by the service from the staff. Everyone was very friendly and I had the impression that everyone in service was looking after us. It's amazing how many guests there are! Thanks for that. I have a clear recommendation.

I would give this restaurant at 0.5 star is I could. My friends and I didn’t even get service when we tried the first or second time. I can’t tell you how the food is since we didn’t get service. Asked the server to take our order and he said ok but continued to ignore us after providing service to other parties that came after us. I am not sure if we didn’t get served because we are Americans or Asian. I’m sure they will have plenty patrons because they have outdoor seating in the plaza.

Although it was almost always very busy, we were always served friendly and quickly. Even during the meal we were always asked if everything was OK. Since I am allergic to pepper, I often have to place special orders, but that has never been a problem. A big compliment to the whole team. P.S. The cake is awesome

Holla the forest fairy! Hofbräuhaus feeling in the middle of Rothenburg. If you want hearty food in a noisy environment, this is the place for you. The waitresses are friendly and quick, the food is completely okay. You can't really do anything wrong here. But if you prefer to define things in style, you should go to the Reichsküchenmeister or Ehmanns....and take more money with you.😉

What a terrible tent this is. We were busy having our drink when suddenly the terrace closed. Very abrupt. We also wanted to eat something inside, but what chaos. Especially if you end the terrace like this. We got a spot inside but had to leave quickly and were placed among other groups. Very special. Resolved, but staff was really not at home. Paid for drinks without any tip and left the premises. Stay away from this weird stuff. A really nasty atmosphere there.

We spontaneously got a table today (Sunday). Everything was clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, everything went very quickly. Unfortunately the food was just ok. You could eat it, but I don't have to have it again. Had roast pork, the sauce was very little and transparent, not that tasty unfortunately. Dumplings should be called mini dumplings because unfortunately they are nothing more. Changes to the supplement were no problem. Side salad for €3 extra is a large lettuce leaf, 1 slice of cucumber and a quarter piece of tomato 🙈

They don’t care about customers. We wanted to change our table because it was too sunny for our baby but they didn’t let us. They’re too lazy to change it in their system I guess. They barely speak English. They pretend they do, but they actually don’t understand you and they end up brining a completely different order. This is not ok considering they serve tourists in a touristy area.

A big compliment to the attentive staff. Since there was no space in the outdoor dining area for 6 people when the weather was nice, we were able to go to the Ratskeller and wait there until space became available. It was very busy the day we were here and you had to flag down a person to be seated and to place your order, but once that was done, our meals came quickly and it was delicious.

I’ve been living in Germany for over six years and have grown to appreciate German cuisine. Unfortunately, this restaurant was a letdown. The food lacked flavor, with watery sauces and bland meat. While the location is somewhat redeeming, it’s not enough to make up for the disappointing meal. I wouldn’t recommend dining here—there are definitely better options to explore elsewhere.

Service was very poor. I don’t like writing negative reviews but it took over an hour for the waitress to take our order and we were ignored by other wait staff. She did bring us a glass of wine but then didn’t return for our order. After finally taking our order I asked for another glass of wine which also didn’t come. Several other patrons were also complaining. It was busy in a busy location but our experience was particularly bad.

I would like to stand up for this restaurant. Can't understand the negative reviews. The service team was super accommodating and apparently well coordinated. The service is multilingual and there is also some fun with children. The boss is present and sometimes serves. Great value for money! Quality is also top! Wiener schnitzel is very tender and fried potatoes are nice and crispy, cordon bleu is obviously homemade, meatballs are homemade, and the trout Müllerin is probably the best I've ever had. A poem! For a shop in such an exposed location with only tourist traffic, this is really worthy of honor.

Really nice place, good food despite the high amount of tourists. The only flaw was the service even though it was Tuesday, a distracted waitress who forgot the cutlery and provided it for dishes already on the table, an additional beer brought 20 minutes after the request and subsequent requests, a slice of cake asked for twice before having it and coffee brought to delay. The icing on the cake, the waitress who forgot the cutlery and made us wait for each service got impatient because I looked for a coin in my pocket for over 2 seconds at the time of the bill.

Located on the central market square and the town hall. The restaurant has seats both outside and inside a historic building. Inside we could sit at any table because they were all empty, the entire interior has a vaulted ceiling supported by stone columns, the tables are made of wood like the benches. Obviously the half liter of dunkel could not be missing and today I opted for a Franconian dish, liver gnocchi with bacon, sauerkraut and potatoes, very abundant and with a good taste, the gnocchi where the liver was not intrusive in its strong flavour. A note, at the entrance they indicate that they have menus in Italian but when I asked they indicated that they only had it in English.

The minced pork steak was super salty and didn’t taste like pork; there were hairs on the skin of the pig’s feet that had not been cleaned properly, and the potatoes in the side dishes were not all made of potatoes. It felt like some cornstarch or something like that was added to make it taste better. It tastes like QQ.

This is actually probably the top three worst service I have ever experienced. We spoke to two different waiters and both refused to answer questions and had a downright unpleasant attitude. One of the waiters had brown curly hair, without a doubt the rudest waiter I have ever met. It's unbelievable that the restaurant has a rating of 3.9, it should have a maximum of 2.0.
