It's a place with a lot of tourists, but a really good atmosphere.

We sat outside in the sun. Nice ambiance. Nice ambiance inside too. The beer is local and tasty. But: service was very late, they only took drinks (which arrived at the table in a reasonable time), and then nobody else came. We spoke to three other servers about our food orders, and they always referred us to the person in charge of our table/area. People around us were already getting up after no one came to take our orders. Eventually, we finally managed to order food (onion soup and a cold platter). When it arrived, I regret to say that it was no more than just okay. The onion soup was only lukewarm, tasted okay, but definitely not a highlight. The cold platter was the ham platter, which wasn't a problem for me, but it was the wrong dish. The toppings were plentiful and too much for the small amount of bread served with it, which isn't bad in itself. However, the bread looked and tasted like the pre-packaged, sliced ​​bread at a discount store. The topping tasted okay, but nothing special. All in all, I was relatively disappointed. It's okay for a beer or two, but everything else wasn't so great.

Small portion, I ordered salad with chicken breast. The chicken breast was almost cold, and I wasn't full. My daughter had a hash brown, which was also only lukewarm. I'd rather have gone around the corner to the kebab shop; I would have paid less, would have been full, and the price would have been less expensive. We were there yesterday. It was very hectic because of a party. I ordered a Coke and bratwurst with fries and it was very disappointing. Two bratwursts on my plate and a handful of fries. The food was lukewarm. It also took a very long time to be ready and by then I had already finished my drink. The service was okay. I had calculated a different price and asked the service why I was paying so much. His answer was that the meal costs 12 euros but because I had fries there was a 2 euro surcharge. And on top of that he gave me a very rude reply: I don't cheat. All in all, the portions are too small for the price.

It was another fantastic evening at the Ratsstube...including a special round from the host. I'd go back anytime. The food was top-notch...really tasty, and the value for money was right.

Be careful when choosing dishes. We ordered a Wiener schnitzel with fries. It was okay, but there are better options. The food served by our table neighbors looked delicious, in contrast. Not bad, but not good either. We had the knuckle of pork and the Franconian bratwurst. The sauce for the knuckle of pork and the dumplings were probably from a packet. Unfortunately, the knuckle of pork wasn't particularly crispy. Overall, there was too much caraway in the food. Service was friendly and quick. The price was mid-range. We were full, but we wouldn't order these dishes again.

Be careful what they serve you. I’m a tour guide and I had gave them second and last chance. Absolutely rubbish and tourists trap. No more at all and as well not with my clients. Salad was old like grandma, meat taste like carpet. Please avoid this restaurant if you want to sleep well after dinner.

Located right on Marketplaz, we hadn't considered it initially because it was considered too touristy... instead it was an excellent choice: good and plentiful food with a good price/quality ratio!!

Racists. If you speak German poorly, they will serve you for a very long time and reluctantly. They frankly said: if you don’t like it, get out. The level of service is humiliating. After 40 minutes of waiting for the sausages and cabbage, they brought beer and bread.

As other guests have already described: the focus here is on handling the masses of tourists. The overwhelmed and hectic staff couldn't keep up with the influx of guests. I had onion soup, which was still reasonably good. However, the rump steak with fries that followed left a lot to be desired. The rump steak never weighed 200 grams, and the fries were absolutely cold. When I politely pointed out that the fries were cold, I simply received a "that's a shame." I then had to point out the bill three times and wait 25 minutes. I already had my business card on the table and was about to leave before I was finally allowed to pay. Next time I visit Rothenburg, I'll choose a different restaurant away from the market square.

I had a table outside, and the waiter arrived after a short wait. I ordered a salad with cheese, cooked ham, and olives for 12 euros. It came with apple spritzer. Unfortunately, the salad didn't come with a piece of bread or anything similar, and it was very small and didn't fill me up.

I've been coming to Rothenburg for 25 years from the states because my wife is from here. It took me 25 years to stop in and it was very good. It is priced appropriately and not overpriced like many tourists locations. Food was good. I'm not going to exaggerate and say amazing but very good Bavarian meal at a low price point. Environment and service were 5 stars.

location is nice, service is good, but the food ... I had some asparagus with the usual sauce hollandaise - and the sauce was totally 'industrial'. I mean, if you have 'asparagus weeks' with 10 meals including a special sauce, why would you not produce it yourself?

We visited the Ratsstube (council chamber) in sunny weather and immediately sat outside, right on the market square opposite the town hall. We ordered our food and drinks. Our server was friendly and competent. The market square filled up for the Glockenspiel (carillon) with Meistertrunk (drink) at 12:00 p.m. We all had a good view of the spectacle. Full and refreshed by the drink, we continued our city tour.

We weren't actually guests, but rather at the Prezel pastry shop next door (outdoors). Unfortunately, we witnessed the unfriendliness of one of the waiters. Potential guests were ignored and dismissed. They had actually only asked if the reserved tables were actually reserved. About 10 minutes later, another waiter released the seats. Apparently, service isn't a priority. One reason for us not to list the restaurant as a potential next stop. We expressly cannot offer a review of the drinks and food offered.

We were there today. Yes, it's a tourist restaurant. However, you'd still expect the staff to know where things belong. It's a shame that this chaos has continued throughout. The drinks weren't brought until the food arrived, and only after I asked. The waitress who then took our check asked if everything was okay. We told her that the salad was missing from our meal and the dumplings weren't any bigger than golf balls. The answer was: I was just assigned a table. Well, it was reasonable for what we got, but we wouldn't recommend it.

The Ratsstube is a tourist restaurant in the center of Rothenburg. The location is really great and you can sit outside when the weather is good. The food is nothing special, but by no means bad. The dishes could often just use a little more power. Unfortunately, this is often the case in tourist hotspots. Everyone should like the food and people from far away might not like a lot of it. The owner and his staff are always very friendly, quick and always take time for you. The furnishings are historically rustic, but very beautiful. Toilets, however, are very modern and clean. If you want to sit down and have a drink and a bite to eat, the Ratsstube is recommended. Just don't expect too much from the kitchen.

Can highly recommend the rest room...🍻🍗🍖🥨🍹 You can eat and drink very well in the middle of the market square. The portions are very large. We were served by a very friendly lady. We would visit this inn again on our next visit to Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Today my family and I visited this place, we have no complaints about the service or cuisine, we were very pleased. But after some time, when we left, we discovered in Internet banking that we had to pay 65 euros by check, and the waiter put the payment in US dollars on the portable terminal, although the card was in euros. As a result, the payment amounted to 70.84 euros. Now I don’t know what to think, because of such a small thing (5.84 euros) my whole mood was ruined.

You expect it to be more expensive than normal, and they don't have to worry much about the customer either... new ones come every day. Ratsstube is the exception to the rule. The waiter was attentive and helpful (and that in Germany is saying a lot), and the dishes were all generous and very delicious. Since I live in Munich, Rothenburg o.d.T. It is a common place to bring visitors. I will definitely return to the Ratsstube.

Terrible food. I had a slight premonition but because of the great location we ended up going. Wiener Schnitzel with fried potatoes was really bad. The fried potatoes consisted of 50% potatoes that were still completely soft and 50% potatoes that felt like they had already been fried three times. The schnitzel was over-fried and totally greasy. Generally the whole plate was full of oil/fat. Just really bad and tastes subterranean. No recommendation.

Last visit to this restaurant I was dissatisfied because the dumplings were warmed up instead of freshly cooked and Sauce One only tasted full with pepper, which was simply a kitchen accident.

Good, home-style cooking at reasonable prices. The food was good. The sauerbraten was a matter of taste; I've known it to be sourer, but the meat was very tasty.

One of the best places in Rothenburg if you just want something to eat and drink. For today's prices very cheap, tasty and a lot. The schnitzels are especially great. The waitresses are extremely nice, even if they work long hours and have a very stressful day. The tables outside are limited, but you have a very nice view of the market and the town hall

We stopped by for coffee and cake one afternoon after a bike ride, and because the spring sunshine was so beautiful, we were also treated to an Aperol. The friendly service was so nice, we decided to come back that evening. We ate and drank in the restaurant's rustic ambience at absolutely fair prices. The schnitzel was very good and plentiful, and my pork knuckle couldn't have been better prepared. The food arrived very quickly, was hot, and, as you'd expect from a knuckle, plentiful. A restaurant that I can unconditionally recommend.

I would have loved to be able to comment on the quality of the restaurant's cuisine, but unfortunately when we arrived at 7.24pm to come and eat, the waiter who was on the phone in front of the restaurant turned us away with a disdainful wave of his hand. We asked if it was possible to eat and he repeated the sign, not even addressing us. When the restaurant has a page saying they close at 9:30pm, being repelled before 7:30pm is a bit unpleasant, moreover by an unfriendly waiter incapable of having the courtesy to speak to you to explain the reason for an early closure.

We were there as a family with 2 adults and 2 children (10 & 7). There is home-style Franconian cuisine. The waiting times for the food were rather longer. The food was not visually very appealing. Still, it tasted good. The atmosphere is rustic but cozy. We paid a total of just under €70 for food and drinks. That's absolutely fine. Overall the visit was pleasant ✌🏻🤩💯.

Good German fare in a very accessible location on the Rathaus square. It's worth noting that some of the Trip Advisor recommended restaurants are closed in winter, while others take "rest days" and aren't open. The restaurant was very busy, service was friendly and quick, and the food was good. If you're looking to take the weight off your feet and have a decent meal, you could do far worse.
