Right on the water, friendly, quick service, and the food was delicious—thank you very much. Prices were reasonable, too.

The fried chicken was huge, my wife had the chicken salad, which was also delicious. However, the whole place felt a bit like a tourist trap.

We stop here every year on our way to or from Croatia. The food was good. Unfortunately, due to the large number of bees, we couldn't get in (due to a lack of staff). Therefore, the food was a bit complicated due to the cranberries with the schnitzel. The restrooms, however, were truly terrible. You really need to work on that.

I actually have very fond memories of the Ratskeller. I wanted a shandy and a beer with my girlfriend, but unfortunately, it was obviously diluted with water. Neither the beer nor the shandy had any flavor. I've always had fond memories of the Ratskeller.

A very nice restaurant with a beer garden and very friendly service. We were there on a Friday evening; it wasn't crowded, and the food and drinks were prepared and served very quickly. Prices were reasonable for the portions, with main courses usually under €20. I would visit the Ratskeller Passau again anytime.

A centrally located restaurant in Passau with spacious dining rooms and an equally large terrace. The food is completely typical of the region, very good, accompanied by good beer and wine. Reservations are recommended, especially during the tourist season. Excellent value for money. Very friendly and attentive service. It's a good idea to walk there due to the limited parking. Wheelchair access is available, although there are a few steps to the restrooms.

An all round excellent experience if you are in Passau and you are looking for authentic German food, the Rats Keller is the place.

I highly recommend the salad plate with flambéed goat cheese. The mango-lime salad dressing was fantastic! The pork knuckle was okay.

Ratskeller in Passau is located right in the Gothic town hall on Rathauspl. The interior and the view from the windows enhance the unique genius loci that the place breathes. The staff will welcome you with a smile, willingly tolerate imperfections in German and can recommend what the chef has come up with the best. The Helles beers on tap here are full of flavor and fresh, the food is solid – even though it is not primarily a restaurant for gourmets, I liked it. If you are planning a tourist walk around Passau, this establishment belongs on the itinerary as much as the cathedral, castle or museums.

The menu describes different products than those that actually end up on your plate. The menu says loin, but I received rump steak.

The young staff creates a great atmosphere and, in addition to fast and good service, is outstanding! The food was very good, and we went back again straight away.

The food in the historic town hall is unfortunately mediocre and designed for quick tourist service. It's a good place to sit outside and enjoy a beer.

We had a lovely dinner here and loved the beautiful historic indoor dining room space with vaulted ceiling, located inside the old town hall building. They also have lots of tables outside on the square too which is esp busy with a vibrant atmosphere on Saturday. Very traditional Bavarian food on the menu. The pork knuckle was huge and it was absolutely sensational ! Service was great and some English spoken. Popular place so worth booking - very easy online.

Great value for money and good location.

The food is good and the portion sizes are also just right, but it's a restaurant near the Danube and is sure to be busy even in summer due to its ideal location. Therefore, it's a place where a lot of food goes over the counter. So, don't expect 5-star food, but it's still recommended.

It was great, the food was lightning fast and the service was perfect.....it was sunny at first and when the food was delivered it started to rain, but we were immediately given a dry table

We had made a reservation as a precaution, but it wasn't necessary at that time. Nevertheless, we went to the reception (we had to wait about four minutes) and were then able to choose a seat outside. The server was quick to take our order and very friendly. The food we ordered arrived quite promptly and looked good at first glance. Unfortunately, my wife and I couldn't finish our food because it didn't taste as good as it looked.

Good food, but it could have been a bit spicier. The selection of dishes was straightforward and home-style, but in my opinion, the less expensive Wiener Schnitzel and a mixed grill plate, instead of just a single turkey grill plate, were missing. Service was fast, friendly, and courteous.

Went out to eat with friends after a confirmation. The food was delicious, we sat outside in the garden where you have a great view of the Danube. I wanted to post something on site because I was very impressed by the service, but then I saw all the positive reviews there already and thought they didn't need to anymore. Now I'll write something after all, it was a really good and lovely lunch with a group of 14 people. You could tell from the service that everyone was really enjoying themselves and that there was a very good working atmosphere among them. At least that was conveyed very well. Thank you, we don't see something like this very often these days. We'll come back when we're in Passau again.

If you're visiting Passau, you absolutely have to go here!!!!🥳 We were in Passau over the weekend and stopped by on our first day. Initially, we got the impression of a classic beer garden atmosphere with lots of tourists. But what we experienced here is something you rarely see in restaurants these days!! And I mean that in a completely positive way 🤗 The staff is extremely well-coordinated. The guys and girls are super friendly, funny, and have a certain irony with each other. 🙃 Orders arrive promptly at the table, and they're attentive when asking if you want anything else without being pushy. The food is super delicious. Absolutely top-notch value for money! There's definitely no tourist rip-off here. Everyone is treated equally. (@Peter Giesel from Achtung Abzocke = there's no business here for you!!👍🏻) Conclusion: Respect, praise, and recognition to the management!! You have a fantastic concept and incredibly cool staff management. So, we did everything right. We'll definitely be back. PS: We didn't go anywhere else that weekend. I visited the Ratskeller twice during my visit to Passau, and the food was excellent both times! The Wiener Schnitzel and the Zwiebelrostbraten (Roast Beef with Onions) were both excellent. The ambiance is wonderful. The service was also good. Considering the central location and the quality of the food, the prices are also reasonable. If you enjoy classic Bavarian cuisine or simply want to take in the Veste Oberhaus fortress while enjoying a cool drink in the shade under the umbrellas, this is the place for you!

We wanted to have lunch there on the terrace with eight people. There were plenty of free tables, but only for four or six. The bartender wouldn't allow us to push tables together. His reason was "we're not allowed to do that." When we pointed out that eight paying guests would then eat elsewhere, the only response was "it's just a nice day." German service was a disaster. Let's hope they can still afford it with such a silly approach to service... Absolutely not a recommendation!

Unfortunately, the food didn't taste homemade; the beer sauce was simply salty and lacked any flavor, and the dumplings weren't cooked all the way through. But it wasn't too expensive for a touristy Bavarian restaurant.

We were there on May 28th for coffee and crumble cake and on May 29th for lunch in the restaurant. The two waitresses were extremely friendly, competent, and smart. The food was served quickly and tasted absolutely delicious. If we're ever in Passau again, we would definitely eat there again. Highly recommended. Best wishes from Vienna.

The staff walked past several times carefully avoiding eye contact. After 15 minutes of no success I had to go and look for the staff. The non-alcoholic beer was barely drinkable, the so-called lemonade was some overly sweet carbonated booze that didn't even see lemonade in the picture. The atmosphere was a few tables occupied by drunk brats who were screaming at the top of their lungs and the staff ignored it. Never again!

Friendly service, delicious drinks, but the food seems to be home-cooked – at least in some parts. Given the relatively low prices, that's understandable.

We ate here. It was very good and the waiter was extremely nice.

The food was a complete disaster. We had the redfish and the knuckle of pork. Everything arrived within five minutes of ordering. The fish was frozen, the knuckle of pork was bone dry and hard, probably kept warm for hours. The dumplings and potato salad also seemed to be just convenience foods. A real shame, never again.

Very nice restaurant, right next to the Danube. Plenty of tables, both in the shade and in the sun. The service was attentive and good. The Allgäu mountain cheese spaetzle wasn't bad, but not particularly good either. It wasn't really hot and unfortunately, it wasn't cooked in a pan; it was simply re-portioned. Also, the portion wasn't as large as one would expect from other restaurants of this type.

We wanted to spend a nice day in Passau. Based on the good reviews and the report on the BR country inns, we had lunch at the Ratskeller. Very nice atmosphere and pleasant and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing; the roast beef with onions was cold and not medium as ordered. The vegetables were tasteless, and the onions tasted like straw. We cannot recommend this restaurant for dining.

We had a very nice visit to the Ratskeller Passau and would particularly like to praise the exceptionally allergy-friendly service. Since one of us has a rather rare allergy, we asked specifically and kindly three times (!) just to be on the safe side. We also consulted with the kitchen several times - that really impressed us and shows how seriously individual needs are taken into account here. Overall, the food was very tasty, both in terms of taste and appearance. The design is rustic, traditional and invites you to feel good. One small point of criticism: The fried potatoes had a bit too much thyme for our taste - it was probably fried for too long, which gave it a slightly bitter note. But that's complaining at a high level and doesn't change our overall very positive impression. Definitely a recommendation, especially for people with special dietary needs

Three waitresses walked past the table several times and didn't even look at us. When after about 15 minutes no one was willing to serve us, we left the location. I only give it one star because zero stars is not possible. In my opinion not recommended.
