The food was always delicious except for the sauerkraut, which is mushy and doesn't have much flavor.

Location and ambience are great. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the food. Some of the fried potatoes were very dark and some were still raw. Unfortunately there was no response to my friendly complaint.

We ate, among other things, knuckle, really great, everything was fresh, including the side dishes, soups, etc.

Brilliant! Extremely friendly and attentive staff, unfortunately you don't find that often anymore, but you feel really welcome there. The food was great, the beer was tasty, the location was just lovely to linger in a few warming rays of sunshine with a great view. We were extremely satisfied!

... if we're nearby, we like to rest and eat here... we've always had friendly service and the prices are reasonable given the view of the Oberhaus...

We had a very nice visit to the Ratskeller Passau and would particularly like to praise the exceptionally allergy-friendly service. Since one of us has a rather rare allergy, we asked specifically and kindly three times (!) just to be on the safe side. We also consulted with the kitchen several times - that really impressed us and shows how seriously individual needs are taken into account here. Overall, the food was very tasty, both in terms of taste and appearance. The design is rustic, traditional and invites you to feel good. One small point of criticism: The fried potatoes had a bit too much thyme for our taste - it was probably fried for too long, which gave it a slightly bitter note. But that's complaining at a high level and doesn't change our overall very positive impression. Definitely a recommendation, especially for people with special dietary needs

04/12/25 5:30 p.m We were there today and wanted to eat something and sat at a free table outside. There was still a glass from the previous one on the table. Three waitresses walked past the table several times and didn't even look at us. When after about 15 minutes no one was willing to serve us, we left the location. I only give it one star because zero stars is not possible. In my opinion not recommended.

Warm welcome, top waitress, smiling, caring and she speaks English and a little French, many thanks to her we had a wonderful evening, excellent food, good white wine, incredible desserts. In addition, the setting is dreamy, authentic in a family atmosphere.

Ресторан типичный для Германии, их тех, которые располагаются в здании городской Ратуши. Большие залы со сводчатыми потолками, красивые фрески на стенах. Еда традиционная для региона, все, что мы заказали, нам понравилось. Ну разве что пиво и вино могли бы быть и подешевле))). Официанты обслуживают быстро.

Delicious food, everything was great

There is a lot of room for improvement in terms of taste. The meat was tough and not chewable. The service was overwhelmed. The opening times also do not match those on Google. It's a real shame because the location is really wonderful.

Nice and cozy restaurant. But the food is not recommended. Roast pork with more fat than meat. Sweet cabbage simmers in sauce. Kaiserschmarrn from the freezer and tasteless. No snack menu in winter. Don't come anymore. What a shame!!

Dishes that are sometimes very salty (e.g. red cabbage) are otherwise passable home cooking in a good location. Suitable for larger groups with low demands.

I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. Staff very unfriendly, not eager to accommodate and no understanding for dissatisfied guests. Pumpkin soup was okay, venison goulash was a disaster, meat was very dry including tendons and cartilage, spaetzle and red cabbage were overcooked. Apple fritters were completely burnt and the espressos were served in dirty cups. There was no apology and no accommodation with anything on the house or anything like that. Staff was not interested in feedback. 80 euros may not seem like a lot in total, but for such outstanding poor food and staff it was clearly too much. The restaurant is not recommended under any circumstances, then it's better to go to bed hungry or go to Burger King or etc.

We were shown to the table in a friendly manner and quickly received a menu and our drink request was accepted. The children's special requests for food could be accommodated without any problems. I had the councilman's plate. The food came quickly, a little too quickly to be honest. When four dishes arrive within a short period of time, I get the feeling that it was already ready. Unfortunately, the meat (slightly dry), the cabbage (lukewarm) and the dumplings (very mushy) also tasted the same. I didn't really have anything to complain about in terms of taste, but it wasn't freshly prepared. But recommended for a stopover for a Bavarian atmosphere.

Beautiful restaurant with vaults and several beautiful rooms, very friendly and attentive staff and a very good menu. The soup of the day tasted very good, as did the cheese spaetzle. The espresso was a great tasty finish.

Perfect place to stop off in Passau!

The waiters are there immediately and are very friendly and helpful. But the FOOD knocked me off my chair. I have never experienced such a taste explosion as in this restaurant. I ordered an Ochsnbackerl, it was very, very tasty, the meat melted in my mouth and the potato/carrot puree was very tasty and fluffy, the spaetzle needed a bit of seasoning for my taste but the entire package was so delicious. Ps don't order a starter because the main course is really big.

We wanted a traditional Bavarian lunch and this restaurant was recommended by our tour guide who's lived in Passau for most of his life. The Currywurst sausage with fries was excellent and the sausages with sauerkraut were very good. We didn't care for the cold sausage salad but the portions were so big we didn't need that dish anyway. The local beer was good but more bitter than what we had in Regensburg.

We ate in August recommended by the cruise guides. The portions are large, especially the dessert: raspberry sauce with ice cream. Located on the town hall square, next to the Danube River, it was very good. The quality-price ratio was good, together with the location, making the restaurant with its terrace a good choice.

The unloving service staff, trained in unfriendliness, always keeps a discreet distance so that you are not disturbed when you want to place an order. Once you have finally achieved this, you will quickly be disappointed to find that the word "inferior" does not adequately describe the quality of the food. The heartless and ingustious manner of serving makes one reconsider the repulsively high prices with resignation. Especially when, as in my husband's case, the undercooked rat, which to our sheer horror was the main component of his chosen dish, leaves the plate on its own initiative before it has been successfully consumed. The snippy staff consists entirely of the unplanned children of an easy-going girl, whom the owner of the house seems to regularly feast on in the basement in order to bring new future employees into the world. Maybe someone should let him know that the girl is, tragically, his poor sister, who was hidden by the family out of shame due to physical deformities. It would explain a lot. As a result, the sanitary facilities appear as if cleaning was carried out with the eternally unwashed hair of the cleaning staff. Although it is certainly a big plus for the environment to avoid using cleaning products so consistently, this decision requires a lot of courage and character. In any case, the sight was enough to immediately remove the just-eaten botch, which cheekily posed as our food, from our battered bodies in the only appropriate way. A few admittedly misplaced crumbs will refresh the ambience of the toilet facilities in the future. This restaurant is definitely recommended for the esoterics and ghost hunters among you. The compassionate and sensitive staff ensures that a sufficient contingent, which covers around half of the restaurant, is reserved at all times for visitors from a dimension that not all of us can perceive. We can now say with certainty that alternative dimensions are being traded in a currency that makes our euro green with envy. In order to talk to the staff from one believer to another, however, you must know a secret code, since in our presence the keeping of the spirit contingent free was justified with clearly sophisticated excuses. Extremely not credible, but we couldn't get the subdued and definitely not sufficiently motivated waiter to enlighten us with the truth.

Very nice inn, right on the town hall square in Passau with delicious Bavarian cuisine. Tasty food, great desserts and of course a large selection of drinks. The employees are all very friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food, absolutely recommended!

Really good, hearty and very tasty Bavarian cuisine in a great and cozy atmosphere. The portions are very good and the taste of the food is really a highlight. I have never eaten such tender and delicious ox cheeks with homemade spaetzle as I did here on the recommendation of the waitress. The pork knuckle was also crispy on the outside and the meat was tender. Excellent cuisine. The staff was very nice and helpful with the selection. Ambience is homely and comfortable. Price-performance ratio is very good. If we come to Passau again, we will definitely come back.

As befits a Ratskeller, a bit rustic. But in an upscale way. We felt very comfortable. The menu is great - we almost couldn't decide.

After a delightful day exploring Passau, my mother and I decided to conclude our adventures with a dinner at the Ratskeller Passau, and it proved to be a wise choice. We both opted for the traditionally Bavarian salad with breaded chicken. The unexpected twist of balsamic dressing, while not typically Bavarian, surprisingly complemented the dish very well, making it quite a treat. We also shared a generous platter of Obatzda with pretzel and bread, which was both hearty and delicious. The coffee, while not the specialty of the house, was decent enough for a restaurant not focused on its brews. Our server, a delightful young lady, was quite attentive, though not all the staff seemed to be at her level. At one point, I found myself fetching my own lemon for water from the bar after a couple of unheeded requests. Considering the location, the view, and the overall experience, the value for money was quite fair. It truly was a fitting end to our lovely visit to Passau.

The Ratskeller is very beautiful. In summer you can sit outside and look at the river and the castle. The only thing that bothers me is that the wooden chairs or the plastic chairs don't have a soft base. The service is good and the food is really great. And you can afford the prices.

Had a spontaneous meal here today and definitely didn't regret it. The food was amazing!!! Onion roast to perfection, just as ordered. A small portion of cheese spaetzle was prepared especially for our 2 year old daughter. My wife's dumplings and roast pork were also very, very good! The service couldn't be better! Very nice and quick. The food came very quickly too! If a drink was empty, service was at the table immediately! Very attentive! We had places outside in the shade. There is probably even a place where the bees and wasps are attracted with attractants or something so that fewer of them fly around the table, I have never seen that either!!! Of course super pleasant for the guests! I actually only have one criticism that the restaurant probably can't do much about, but the toilet.... When I had to go to the toilet after eating and 3 beers, it was unfortunately a bit "dirty", my wife was in the women's toilet shortly afterwards and this She said it was very clean. So there were probably just a few ...... in front of me who were not considerate and didn't have their ...... under control! All in all, it was a wonderful lunch in Passau with great food and very, very nice service. If we come to Passau again we know where to eat.

We wanted to stop here, sat outside and were absolutely ignored by the employees. Six service staff were busy cleaning, but not with us and a few other guests who sat down almost at the same time. After waiting for a while, we asked two of the service staff whether we could order something and were told twice that we should order from another service staff. We then got up again and went a few hundred meters further to a nice restaurant where we were served happily and friendly!

I'll say it in advance - the star deduction for Ambiente was only because there was nothing special - it was like you would expect from a Ratskeller... top... The staff was very friendly, helpful and generally on their toes - everyone felt like they worked together like clockwork and supported each other without anyone having to say anything to the other - so a top team and team spirit (which is what you can see from the outside as a guest). could)... even special requests were no problem - which brings us to the meal. There is something on the menu for everyone - classic as well as modern, light cuisine and/or vegetarian... and as I said - special requests are no problem... When it comes to the beer selection, you could add something to today's desire for non-alcoholic - that is, as far as the selection is concerned, but there was non-alcoholic beer and it tasted good... Price-performance is great - I've already paid a lot more elsewhere for a menu that was poorer in terms of taste and portions - so here it tasted excellent and was a great portion... (I'm glad I didn't eat the knuckle - it looked really tasty and... crispy, but I wouldn't have managed the portion...)

Food very good, fast service in a nice place

We were in Passau for three days at the end of July 2024 and had our evening meals in this wonderful place on all three days. The service from everyone and especially from the waiter Tim was excellent. Of course we were lucky that the weather allowed us to eat outside on all three days. And all four of us (two married couples) really enjoyed this meal, although we all chose a different meal every evening. And the drinks were also great. So, all in all: it couldn't be better!

We had a very tasty meal there. The five of us ate outside in the sun, protected by umbrellas. Everyone enjoyed the food. The service was very good, quick, attentive without being intrusive and also very friendly. Really great. Price performance was also good.

If you sit at the "wrong" table you will be chased away, even though there are enough free tables...

My (now) wife and I had our champagne reception next door right after our civil wedding. The staff is extremely friendly and the drinks were delicious. I went here for dinner a few years ago and it tasted very good then too. Gladly again!

Zu unserer Freude, haben wir hier kein Lokal für Touristen ausgewählt. Die Leute im Service super nett, unser Platz mit Ausblick war super schön und ein Kellner auf Zack versorgte uns mit einer sämigen und leckeren Spargelcremesuppe, dem fast perfekten Ratsherrenteller mit genialen Sauerkraut und ein super gut gewürztes Jägerschnitzel. Die Speisen waren allesamt super gut gelungen, das Bier süffig, die Lage perfekt, der Preis absolut OK und wir hatten dort einen schönen Abend. Danke!

To our delight, we didn't choose a restaurant for tourists. The people in service were super nice, our place with a view was super nice and a waiter on the ball provided us with a creamy and delicious asparagus cream soup, the almost perfect councilman's plate with brilliant sauerkraut and a super well-seasoned Jägerschnitzel. The food was all really good, the beer was tasty, the location was perfect, the price was absolutely OK and we had a lovely evening there. Thanks!

Good Bavarian cuisine with nice staff...

The food in most Ratskellers is quite good. This is also the case here in the Ratskeller in Passau. The Jägerschnitzel is a very generous portion. The roast pork from the next table was also gigantic. What you have to point out is the following... the Ratskeller team is a young team. Accordingly, you will be served quickly. In addition, everyone was very polite and friendly. The food was ready quickly and served hot in the beer garden despite a cool day. Unfortunately, the Ratskeller is not barrier-free. By the way, vegans will also find something on the menu here 😉

Food was OK, but there are better restaurants. Drinks and atmosphere are very good though.
