We celebrated our civil wedding with 20 people and can highly recommend the Oberhaus! Perfect service, fantastic views, excellent food, easy communication, and all at a fair price.

Wow, this was restaurant was beautiful and the perfect spot for lunch - Excellent Bavarian food with stunning panoramic views over Passau. The venue is stylish & modern yet felt traditional inside, and has a large shaded outdoor terrace. Service was welcoming and friendly, and some English is spoken. Great menu and excellent wine list, and prices very reasonable considering the location. We booked (by email) for lunch which was perfect but this location would be equally good for sunset and /or dinner. If you don’t want to walk up you can easily get a taxi, or drive - plenty of parking available.

Ordering and paying via QR code works great, but it's anonymous. The food is good. Nice view.

The price is much too expensive

When you have such a great atmosphere, you can cut down on the rest. I would have preferred my dish with a third of the meat, but still juicy and tasty. It was just a lot of dry meat. It's a shame, because the location could have done with much more!

The restaurant is located in one of the most beautiful spots in Passau. But in the beer garden, you're supposed to log in with a QR code, register beforehand, and then get your drinks yourself, even though there seem to be ten waiters standing around the place. The prices they charge are definitely not due to the staff, because the guests are expected to do almost everything themselves, except for cooking. Germany is a service desert. Once and never again.

We were invited to a private birthday party at Das Oberhaus in Passau – and it was simply fantastic! A private area on the terrace was reserved for our group, with a beautiful view over Passau. The atmosphere was relaxed yet stylish, perfect for a celebration. The food was also a highlight: The barbecue was done on-site, accompanied by a lavish buffet. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented – from the grilled dishes to the side dishes. The service was also consistently friendly and attentive. Overall, a great place for special occasions – we felt completely at home and will definitely be back!

Good food in a very nice location. Excellent and attentive service. Prices are absolutely reasonable, especially considering the location, but also considering the quality of the food.

The quality of the food is getting worse. The focus is on tourists who won't return. The garden concept is a complete disaster. You order food via an app, and all the dishes are served at the same time, including starters and main courses and desserts. The staff is also mostly casual.

We ate in both the beer garden and the restaurant. I was just there again for a wedding reception, and we even had our family Christmas dinner on December 25th in the Oberhaus – and it was perfect for every occasion! The location and view are, of course, sensational. There are only a few parking spaces right outside, but you can easily drop someone off and then park a little further away in the large parking area. The food was also very good, and the service seems to have finally settled in; it was friendly and attentive.

We ate there on a Sunday evening. It's important to note that you can make reservations, but only for the restaurant. For the outdoor area, it's first-come, first-served. The ambiance and the view were truly excellent, and the menu is also very varied. The prices are a bit higher, which isn't a bad thing if everything is right. Now comes the big BUT. For starters, we had the Bavarian set meal, and the pretzel resembled a pretzel from a baking machine and wasn't particularly fresh; it could definitely be better. We also had a vegetable lasagna, a currywurst, a roast beef with onions, and a Wiener schnitzel. Let's start with the currywurst. This is simply a pre-cut bratwurst (Curryking style) with fries that had been in the deep fryer for a bit too long, so it wasn't particularly attractive or a taste sensation. The roast beef with onions was a rather meager portion for the price of just under €29. The far worse thing, however, was the cooking quality: not medium as ordered, but well done. The Wiener schnitzel was the same, neither souffléd nor anything like that, and simply overcooked. (The meat was very gray and dry inside—a shame) (price: about €27). A quartered potato was served as a side dish. The vegetable lasagna was okay in terms of price and taste. We also told the waitress that the food was okay, and she just asked if it was still edible, which we confirmed, and that settled the matter for her. All in all, it was okay given the view, but we wouldn't come back for the food, as in our opinion, it simply doesn't justify the price for food prepared this way. Mistakes can happen, but for us, there were simply too many.

Not too busy on a late weekday afternoon. The food was delicious and hearty, the beer was cold. Just what we needed after the hike up. The service was very good even though we knew little to no German. We opted to sit outside in a covered area with a great view of the city below.

We ate outside, the view was great! You can scan the QR code to order directly, the drinks came quickly, the dishes tasted great, the waiters were all young guys who worked quickly and were kind. After eating, I found that there was a playground for children, so the little ones could let off some steam, which was great

There's both a restaurant and a beer garden. Neither is spectacular in my opinion. However, the view over the city of Passau and the Danube is sensational.

The quality is good. You have to order your food at the bar in the beer garden, but it's brought to your table. It's a shame that the group gets split up for ordering. The staff is very friendly. The prices are a bit high, but the view easily makes up for it. I'd go back.

Busy, but great food and fast service. They were kind and patient with us, in spite of us not speaking German. We had the traditional bratwurst, it was delicious. A beautiful location and view overlooking the Danube and Passau. The fortress is a great place to visit as well.

I expect something different from a veal schnitzel for 30 euros. The veal was overcooked, the potatoes were undercooked, and the flavor was not good. I don't see how this price is justified. The roast pork, however, was very good.

A very nice place for dining, located uphill behind the Veste Operhaus. Reservation is highly recommended. Very attentive and friendly staff, great menu options with fish and beef. Ate the cheesecake crème brûlée for dessert, very fresh fruit on top, perfect ! It was a rainy evening or we can have a walk after dinner, enjoy the great view over the city. See you in our next visit.

A very nice restaurant for day trips. Right next to the fortress. A modern ordering system with QR codes or in person at the counter. No payment at the table, so no wasting time waiting after your meal. The food was very good, with generous portions and nicely presented. The prices were perfectly reasonable. I can recommend it with a clear conscience.

If you find yourself in Passau, make your way up the hill to this gem. We had the duck, the Gröstl and this pancake with plum sauce dessert that I can't remember the name of. I am afraid to ask the name of the dessert, because I may never eat anything else again. Everything was amazing - the best meal we've eaten on this vacation. Thankfully, we have the Veste Oberhaus to explore and a nice hike back to the ship to burn some of this off.

Beautiful location with a first-class view of Passau. The apple strudel is highly recommended, but it does come at a price. Unfortunately, one negative thing we noticed was that our table hadn't been wiped down upon arrival. It was only cleaned by the waiter upon our request. We find this unacceptable for a restaurant in this price range – hence the deduction of stars.

I can't rate food. Despite free tables, this table is closed and you don't get anything... We got up and left...

The ambience was okay so far, but the food could still be improved, and what was annoying was the loud music, not songs that don't actually appeal to everyone.

We had dinner in the House of Lords last Sunday. So I save myself having to rate the great view. Unfortunately the food was a total disaster. Bavarian table setting is a complete joke and also inedible. Roast beer and cheese spaetzle desperately needed flavor and a microwave. The fried chicken had a very unpleasant and indefinable aftertaste,… For these prices, it's also a disgrace when you're no longer allowed to use a table that was reserved from 6:30 p.m. at 5 p.m., and the employee in charge is bursting with friendliness... I've been served for now and will avoid this glut of tourists until further notice.

What does it mean when the food is on the table after 5 minutes of ordering? The location alone is not everything. The food is completely overpriced for the portions and quality. The service is friendly, but only geared towards quick turnaround. Unfortunately, this no longer has anything to do with Bavarian pub culture. After a long time, we tried it as Passauer. Unfortunately it was a failure and we weren't surprised not to see a single familiar face. Simply a tourist hotspot. SHAME!

As a photographer, I've already been to a few wedding celebrations up in the Oberhaus - and I look forward to it every time!📷 The view is simply impressive and always something very special for the guests. The food is super delicious, the team is really warm and attentive. And the Upper House is simply a dream for photos. A really great location to celebrate! 🥳

You can't eat more beautifully in Passau with this great view over the city from the terrace. And if you are welcomed and served as warmly as Maria in this cozy atmosphere, it is worth a rating for me.

Nice place with great views over the city, but if you come at lunchtime you can expect a huge wait. We waited 1.5 hours for our order. My toddler fell asleep hungry. When I asked him to heat up his food and pack it up so that he could have something to eat when he woke up, the waitress said that unfortunately they couldn't heat up the food. So, is there no microwave or pan in the house......? Therefore 1 star point for the service.
