Pulverturm in Dresden

Located in the heart of Dresden, right next to the Frauenkirche, the restaurant's location is hard to beat. The place has an elegant character and a long history, which is evident from the moment you walk in. The service is polite, helpful, and well-organized – despite the large number of guests, everything runs smoothly. We ordered a classic Dresden cheesecake and coffee – the cheesecake was delicate and creamy, a traditional Eierschecke, with a light custard layer. The coffee was strong and aromatic, perfect for dessert. The menu also offers a wide range of dishes, making it a good place not only for something sweet but also for a full dinner. The prices are slightly higher, but they reflect the standard and location – after all, this is the very center of the city.

We were there with 36 people for lunch with entertainment on 4.10 025 from the reservation to the end of the menu 11am to 2.30pm a super successful event The service is great Maik with humor overview and quick feet the menu very tasty and the Dutch "Bespasser" is only recommended EVERYONE was enthusiastic. went at 9.45 p.m. when Google says closing time is 11 p.m. but was left standing at the entrance with staff saying bye to other customers leaving but just ignored us. Stood there a few more minutes and still got ignored by the staff. Is this normal in Dresden?

Very dog-friendly restaurant. Hearty, excellent food.

While the food was good quality, the value for money was still on the verge of being acceptable. The service, however, was nothing short of terrible: When asked for house recommendations, they referred us to the menu, offered no apology for cold food, and were generally extremely slow. It was disrespectful to the price. We wouldn't go here again. And on the subject of dining experiences: Apart from the stunned look on my face when the waitress responded, it wasn't an experience at all.

Very good food, service and ambience.

The suckling pig wasn't warm enough, was extremely greasy, and had a sauce that made you burp the whole time afterward. The dumplings were also greasy and inedible. When paying, the waitress tried to pressure us into tipping. The prices were fair for the location, but I still can't recommend it.

Even if you're not interested in history...you MUST eat here. Great vaulted restaurant, incredibly delicious food. The atmosphere is WOW. If you can manage it, not during the pre-Christmas season. It's packed. Be sure to make a reservation and experience the story of the Cosel tear while drinking from a funnel. My go-to place when I visit home. 🙏

A fantastic gastronomic experience in the heart of Dresden. We tried the Saxon-style pork, and it was spectacular: juicy, just the right amount of moisture, cooked to perfection and flavorful. Not dry at all; on the contrary, it was very tasty. The accompanying potato dumpling was soft, fluffy, and delicious, and the sauerkraut balanced the dish with that classic, well-made sour note. The restaurant's atmosphere is very special: you can tell it's designed in a traditional, cozy, and characterful style. I had read comments that it was crowded with tourists, but we were surprised to find that most of the diners were German, which we found even more interesting and authentic. The service was excellent. The waiters were very friendly, attentive, and always smiling. You could tell they enjoyed their work, and that made the experience even more enjoyable. In short, a highly recommended visit if you want to experience typical Saxon cuisine at its best: authentic, flavorful, and with unbeatable service.

Lovely staff, great location, delicious rustic food! Every time we're in Dresden, we have to dine there! A culinary feast!

The table attendant managed to find us a table in the magnificent large dining room, even though it was a Friday evening – and she did so very kindly! Our waiter at table 101 behaved very rudely and reprimanded my husband. He had ordered three smaller starters (potato soup, spiced meat, and soy sauce). The soup arrived first – at the same time he pointed out to my husband (again, the gentleman; the ladies were always very friendly) that all the other dishes would arrive at the same time and at the same time, saying that he “didn’t know how things work here, since he had ordered them that way.” Very unfriendly, and every now and then with a completely inappropriate grin. We felt uncomfortable – how could one person eat several warm starters at once? Even though the ambiance was great and the food was delicious – a shame: we didn’t have to be treated like that!

One of the best restaurants in Dresden. The service was very friendly and prompt. During our visit, we were greeted by musicians, and an elderly gentleman greeted us in an ancient language. He was witty and very friendly. The food, of course, is also delicious. The Sauerbraten is highly recommended.

Just awesome. Typical food with awesome atmosphere. Food is great, beers too! Prices are really worth it. I tried ribs and I was stunned by the quality of the sauce and meat. As for the restaurant you have old weaponry around as well as some old-fashioned dressed people wandering around: pirates too! Try it. It's really worth it. Definitely not a tourist bait, but legit quality original restaurant.

Prices are a bit more expensive than usual, but totally fine, considering it's right next to the Frauenkirche, and the food is really delicious. However, a large 0.4-liter Pepsi Zero for €7 is quite expensive. I also felt like there was a "regular" dish missing from the menu, maybe just a Wiener Schnitzel or something similar.

Very tasty - would go back anytime!

The entire setup, including the table entertainment, is very much geared toward entertainment-hungry tourists. The two musicians who entertained us are truly adorable. Unfortunately, the food is rather mediocre: the tough pork steak is quite simply prepared with a bit of seasoned beef, some cheese, and lots of peas.

A good restaurant with hearty Saxon/German cuisine, located very close to the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) in the heart of Dresden. The decor is quaint and rustic, as you'd expect from such a restaurant. The servers were friendly. The food was delicious. One special feature worth mentioning was the musical entertainment at the table (accordion with vocals). It wasn't intrusive, however, and we weren't asked to pay extra for it. It was essentially a small in-house entertainment program. A gentleman in a historical costume also came along and provided some entertaining entertainment, showing a few "magic tricks." But even that was low-key, as he asked beforehand if anyone wanted it. It was quite amusing. Tip: try the Dresden funnel drinking... Here, too, the gentleman in the historical costume was involved (at least during our visit) and caused quite a laugh... I won't say any more. Incidentally, we were there on a perfectly normal Thursday evening.

We had a good time at this restaurant. The restaurant was full when we arrived, but we were seated quickly. They really tried hard to serve their customers. Other than that, the food was perfect, too. I have no doubt to recommend this restaurant to everyone.

I was at the Pulverturm on Monday evening. We received a warm welcome. Ordering was very quick. The waitress brought the excellent appetizer first. It was very tasty, but there was one small criticism: pineapple unfortunately has no place in a solyanka. Otherwise, it was exquisite. The main course and dessert were both very delicious. They even asked me if everything was okay. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like Saxon food or want to try it. If I'm in Dresden again, I'll definitely stop by again.

Hidden away in the basement is a historic place with an extraordinary ambiance. Outside, there's an outdoor seating area with service. Inside, there's plenty to discover. It even has its own bakery. We celebrated a child's birthday party there and were thrilled with everything they offered. Cookie cutting, decorating, a guided tour with the executioner, making your own ammunition, and lots and lots of delicious food! Cake, ice cream, schnitzel, fries, pasta, nuggets, potatoes,... There really was something for everyone. The children were really excited. They also offer special food for parties and buffets. The location is wonderfully central. Right behind the Frauenkirche. If you want to experience something special, this is the place!

I was initially skeptical about the touristy concept, but we had a wonderful evening with good food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere in the vaulted cellar. Upon request, they even offered extra sauce for the Sauerbraten for free. Bottom line: Touristy, but with a unique ambiance – definitely worth a visit. Prices are a bit on the high side, but the portions and quality are good.

A truly wonderful medieval-style restaurant – lovingly decorated with spears, cannonballs as candlesticks, rifles, and many other details. You can even walk around the lower level and take a look at everything at your leisure. The food isn't exactly cheap, but the quality absolutely justifies the price. We had buttery tender ribs and suckling pig – both delicious. We'd especially like to highlight the very friendly service: After we mentioned during clearing that we would have liked a little more suckling pig, we were immediately given a second helping. A fantastic experience – we'd love to come back!

Based on a recommendation, I visited the Pulverturm in Dresden. I really liked the location, the friendliness of the staff, and the ambiance, as it was simply authentic. A delicious beer from the Radeberger Brewery is a must in Dresden, of course. The friendly gentleman at the table recommended the Steak au Four, a traditional Saxon dish. A pork steak topped with spiced meat and cheese. It was prepared almost perfectly, and the croquettes and peas went particularly well with it. The Eierschecke (egg cake) and the strong cappuccino were a great way to end the evening. The cheerful musician sang the guests at the next table into the ground. Wonderful to watch. Everything just worked perfectly. I would happily recommend the Pulverturm in Dresden.

We ate here for the first time. We had reserved a table in advance, but this was only for the inside area. The ambiance is really lovely, but it was a bit too warm for us, so we were allowed to choose a seat outside. The food and service were really excellent. We would come back every time we visit. The place is beautiful and the food is good

Very focused on tourism. Prices OK. Food is large and also OK. The staff aren't the most attentive, but the walkways are long. The interior is already open, but the ventilation is very poor. It's better to just have a quick look and eat outside.

The ambiance is an absolute eye-catcher, continually revealing new details to marvel at or smile at. A perfectly thought-out concept was implemented here that leaves nothing to be desired. The menu is authentic and ideally complements the Powder Tower concept. We spent a lovely evening with many interesting impressions, were treated to first-class culinary delights, and were thoroughly entertained. We would gladly visit the Powder Tower again on our next visit to Dresden.

The children's plate (carrots were rejected) was rather lackluster. Unfortunately, the meat in both the ribs and the pork was extremely fatty. The fries had been in the oven too long, making them too crispy and inedible with a fork. Naturally, the price is on the higher end, given the location.

A very quaint restaurant, but that was unfortunately all there was to it. We had a beef roulade with a filling that was unfortunately unidentifiable. Even worse was that the meat was so dry that even the sauce couldn't help it. The price is honestly outrageous. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant due to the quaint surroundings.

Bad luck!! I arrived alone at 1:00 PM today to wait for my friends. I ordered a drink and soup. When my friends arrived, the waiter didn't want them to sit with me, claiming that this table wasn't suitable for them. It was impossible to change his mind, his haughty tone, his insults... We had to leave in the face of this aggression, and I had to pay for my (normal) drink as well as the soup, which I didn't get to taste, probably due to the disgust this waiter displayed towards us. Helmut, François, what has become of Franco-German friendship??? So boycott it.

Great location, right next to the Frauenkirche. The interior is magnificent. I was blown away. The cannonball candle! Amazing! The quality of the food was perfect. The service was first-class with a great sense of humor. Absolutely authentic. Tip: Order the Dresden Trichter. A fun experience.

I ate at the Pulverturm and thought it was really good. They serve good, traditional food, meaning hearty dishes like roasts, potatoes, or soup. The food was truly delicious; everything was hot and well-seasoned. You can tell they know how to cook. What I particularly liked was the ambiance. In the middle of the restaurant, there's an area that looks like a knight's hall—I'll just call it that. It makes you feel like you've stepped into another era, with old walls and cozy lighting. That makes the meal even more special. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend the Pulverturm, especially if you're hungry for something hearty and want to sit in a cool atmosphere. I'd give it 4.5 stars, which unfortunately isn't possible with Google.

The ambiance, of course, deserves 5 stars, right next to the Frauenkirche. The interior is also 5 stars. However, my meal (Saxon Sauerbraten) wasn't exactly a hit.

The food and drinks are superb. The venue is fantastic, a must-see. Again and again.

Now, one could be nitpicking and say that this is hardly a tower, but more like a cellar vault. But there's certainly potential here, if you consider the possibilities for extensive, relaxed, and casual celebrations. A double-digit number of well-designed rooms, with historic interiors and varied seating grouped around huge tables, offer family celebrations, corporate events, and gatherings of all kinds, allowing the simultaneous use of these vaulted cellars without disturbing one another. So, with timely reservations, all doors are open to such plans. There's also a show bakery, where the 🎂 cakes on offer can be consumed right here. The 🥖 bread baked here can also be purchased in various baking mixes and taken away. So, a large area, with a large cellar hall in the middle over two floors, which puts the (historical) crown on the whole. At that time, enormous invested, which benefited the necessary construction work. Monument protection probably also played a decisive role. Thus, something historically valuable was created, which is a good and beautiful showcase for Dresden and its gastronomy!! 🧐🤔👌😄👍

Highly recommended: reserve a table in advance. This restaurant is quite popular, and rightly so. Extremely attentive and friendly staff. A rustic atmosphere. Luckily (for me), they also serve beer other than Radeberger. 😉 The food was very tasty. However, if you prefer vegan food, there's not much choice here.

It's so freaking freaking delicious. I highly recommend Radler. I went there on my first day in Dresden and then again... It's good to have a drink after seeing a bit of the Dresden Castle. There are sparrows, flies, and bees... But the signature cake is really delicious in 5 minutes. It's convenient because there's a Korean menu.

Dining here is an experience, with the Minesänger (a minstrel) accompanying the guests, incredibly friendly and personable. The food is hearty and delicious. As we left, we were treated to a visit from the Prince of Saxony... simply wonderful.
