The day before yesterday, five of us stopped by at 9:20 p.m. I went in, and a woman (from the office) told me we could have a drink until 10 p.m. So I went back out, where we saw that the free tables were already chained. When two younger waitresses came out to serve us, they snapped at us and told us we could go inside and sit down; we couldn't sit outside anymore. And that in the summer. 😅 Never again.

The menu features grandma's classics that you'll rarely find elsewhere (brawn, goulash, roast, etc.). The service was very friendly. The restaurant is air-conditioned. We felt at home.

We went here for dinner while touring Dresden and it was mostly disappointing. The staff was friendly enough but the food was not good. The tartare was the only enjoyable bite of food I had but even there the portion was way too big for a tartare starter. The main meal was unfortunately not at all to my liking. I come from a meat and potatoes culture myself so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with this type of cuisine but it was executed poorly. Everything was bland, the cannonball dumpling was essentially flavorless and the pork was extremely greasy. The worst was the kraut which I usually like, but this one stayed with me for 2 days after every time I burped. To summarize, greasy, bland and stays with you. I cannot recommend.

Unfortunately, the salad was no longer fresh, the pike-perch was too dry, and the solyanka was very acidic. A shame!

The food is okay, but I would have expected more from the cannonballs, which felt like they were made of iceberg lettuce. In the end, it was just half a tomato and a slice of cucumber, and otherwise just iceberg lettuce. The starter, the spiced meat, was very good in the puff pastry, though.

The Powder Tower is more than just a recommendation; it's a "must-see" in Dresden. My partner and I travel to Dresden once or twice a year, usually taking a closer look at a different attraction. Since that can easily take a few hours in Dresden, we always go to the Powder Tower or the Sophienkeller to recharge our batteries and experience the perfect end to the day. We actually prefer the seats in the vault, as it's furnished and decorated down to the last detail. Medieval decor as far as the eye can see, with many interesting references to discover. The service has always been 10/10 on all previous visits. The staff are friendly, courteous, and sometimes even ready for a joke, even though my partner might not quite fit the average visitor's appearance. You won't be turned away here for wearing boots, and wearing the rest of your metal outfit isn't a problem either. You'll find something completely different elsewhere. The service isn't the same. Orders are processed flawlessly, and when you hear the Coselträne, you're constantly asked, "Have you heard of it?" (At this point—should anyone reading this be wondering what a Coselträne is: I highly recommend it, including an explanation from the staff.) The entertainers along the way do the rest: the bard and his playmate, the Countess of Cosel, and all the others. Brilliant! The food is absolutely fantastic for non-vegans. No matter what, it tastes great. Incredible. Tip here: the suckling pig is amazing; for a bit more variety, I recommend the cannonballs. But if you're not a meat eater, the selection here is limited. We'll be back, that's for sure :)

The Powder Tower: Located in the heart of Dresden, right next to the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), it presents itself as a Prussian palace in its splendor and glory. The food tastes as good as it looks – delicious! The Powder Tower literally offers something for everyone: be it meat or fish dishes, vegetarian or even vegan. It's a restaurant you don't go to every day, but rather to treat yourself and your loved ones to something special. The staff, of course!, are friendly, competent, and experienced. All in all, a place that skillfully rounds off your stay in Dresden.

Fantastic atmosphere, wonderful medieval-inspired decor, including old weapons and chandeliers. Friendly staff. Even though the restaurant was very busy, we received our orders quickly. It's also very child-friendly. There's a special children's menu with something to color and a paper crown for every little guest. It was also entertaining; there was live music (a lady played a medieval plucked instrument, and a little later, a juggler came along and told us a bit about the room). The food was also incredibly delicious. We were absolutely thrilled; I would definitely recommend it! We paid €70 for two main courses, two drinks, and a children's plate with a tip. It was well worth it!

We ended up at the Pulverturm by chance. We didn't realize it was a kind of event catering venue with mime singers and other miscellaneous items. We didn't need that, so we left pretty quickly after dinner. The food itself was good; we had sauerbraten and beef roulades, all well-prepared and tasty. But the whole concept, with its medieval fanfare, wasn't to our taste.

Special experience. Delicious food in a special restaurant that is decorated in the old Saxon period. My main course was vegetarian (including baked sweet potato). But with a strong influence from the Saxon kitchen. Super tasty. And a Sachertorte ice cream cup for dessert. The live musician with accordion was nice.

The Powder Tower is a fantastic place to end the evening. Downstairs in the themed areas, you can sit comfortably and indulge in all kinds of food and drink. The waiters are super friendly and helpful. If you have any historical questions, they'll answer them in great detail. The price/performance ratio is absolutely perfect; I highly recommend the knuckle of pork or the ribs.

I'd eat somewhere else next time. The knife even squeaked when cutting the steak. We were with a group of 14 men in the "Russian Room." The ambiance was very nice. The round table allowed for conversation and eye contact with everyone at the table. But the food was not recommendable. I had the "pork steak au four." Unfortunately, my drinking habits prevented me from keeping up with the waiter's sales efforts.

Very rustic atmosphere with rustic dishes such as knuckle of pork, sesame chicken wings, solyanka and of course homemade Eierschecke (local cake specialty).

It was a bit noisy, but otherwise great. There was a good selection of food, and the food arrived super quickly. (From arrival to departure, including the bill, it took us 60 minutes, and we could have had the table for another 60 minutes.) I had the ribs, and the meat literally fell off the bone. Perfect!

A quaint restaurant with very friendly staff and good food. I can only recommend it if you want something special and individual. And when the weather is good, you can enjoy everything in the outdoor area with a view of the Frauenkirche.

Unfortunately, the service wasn't exactly efficient; for example, we had to wait quite a long time for the nightcap and the bill.

Here you pay for the location. I took the 3 “cannonballs”. Mega expensive, considering that half the plate is only covered with lettuce. The taste was okay, but we definitely won't come here again. The waitress seemed a bit annoyed and came every 5 minutes to ask if everything was ok. A little annoying...

We had the pleasure of spending Easter Monday at the Pulverturm restaurant in Dresden - and it was a wonderful experience all around! The location is hard to beat: Located right next to the Frauenkirche, the restaurant offers a wonderful setting for both visitors to Dresden and locals. We particularly liked the outdoor seating from which you can watch the hustle and bustle on the square - perfect for a relaxing afternoon. A real highlight is the impressive cellar vault, which impresses with a lot of charm and atmosphere. The service was consistently friendly, attentive and warm. You felt welcome and in good hands from the first moment. The food was excellent - tasty, lovingly prepared and made from the best ingredients. You can't find quality like this everywhere! A small but nice detail: there were fresh flowers in the toilets - that shows how much love and care goes into the work here. We had a wonderful Easter Monday in the Pulverturm and will definitely come back on our next visit to Dresden. Absolute recommendation!

The appearance was accompanied by a rather unpleasant smell, which could have been avoided in a gastronomic environment. Without wanting to get personal: a fresher appearance would certainly not have harmed the professionalism. The ambience was less surprising because of its coziness than because of its darkness - dark, almost a little oppressive. Anyone hoping for a warm, inviting atmosphere might feel out of place here. Our waitress stood out positively: a blonde lady with glasses and a ponytail, who left the best impression of the evening with her friendliness and attentiveness. The service was quick and structured, the food was on the table quickly. Culinary: mixed with clear bright spots. The dumpling was excellent – ​​big, fluffy, with good flavor. The red cabbage was also convincing. The roulade, on the other hand, was too dry and the Burgundy sauce served with it was thin and flat in taste - no trace of Burgundy. The roast roast was convincing across the board: the meat was juicy and tender, the crust was a real highlight - plentiful, wonderfully crispy and perfectly fried. Here too, the sauce remained aromatic and a bit too thin, but the meat itself almost made this flaw forgotten.

We ordered two portions of solyanka soup, Marinierter ribs, a dish called Lieblingsgericht, and quark dumplings (syrniki), listed as a main course on the menu. The presentation was beautiful, everything looked appetizing and well-prepared. The food was cooked properly, but the flavors didn’t really suit our personal taste — not because it was bad, just not quite what we were expecting. The quark dumplings were especially sweet, and we didn’t enjoy them at all. A small but odd detail: in the restroom, there was so much toilet paper that it was even hanging on the coat rack, yet there was no soap available to wash your hands — a strange and not very pleasant oversight. The bill for lunch was €90. Overall, this restaurant stands out for its original atmosphere and immersive interior. It’s a place full of character, and for those seeking a medieval-style lunch experience, it’s definitely worth a visit. Hopefully next time, the flavors will match the magic of the setting.

A journey back to the Middle Ages. The rustic, cozy atmosphere in the vaulted cellar invites you to linger. The waiters are super nice, have a charming sense of humor and the dishes are incredibly tasty, prepared according to grandma's home cooking. Highly recommended. Bon appetit.

The food was very good and even convinced me as a “non-fish fan”. The only small point of criticism is the sometimes very loud music played by two guitar players, which at times was so loud that it was no longer possible to communicate. All in all a successful evening. We'd love to come back.

I wasn't completely satisfied with the food. The beetroot risotto tasted quite good, but it wasn't even close to being a risotto. There were different opinions about the food at the table. Most people thought it was okay. Only one person was really happy, she had the bowl.

Very cool cellar restaurant with a unique ambience. Went there for dinner and sat a little away from the hustle and bustle in the wine warehouse, where it wasn't quite as loud. Especially in the Powder Tower itself, the conversation noise level was "lots of people".... The food tasted delicious. The entertainment program with a magician and a king leaving the table also fit well into the lovingly furnished vaulted cellar. Be sure to reserve!

We had dinner at the Pulverturm for my birthday dinner as part of a trip to Dresden. There really is something for everyone on the menu. We had the stuffed sweet potato and the sauerbraten with raisin sauce. Both very tasty! The egg pie for dessert was excellent! The service was also excellent. The atmosphere was something special. All in all a successful evening!

This is a fun place in a historic building. Make reservations, it can be hard to get in during busier times.
