Great restaurant with a unique atmosphere in an Italian supermarket. You are greeted at the supermarket checkout by a charming Signore. Our first reservation the evening before literally fell through due to water damage. The operators can't do anything about it. We then made another reservation for the next day. The food is not very ambitious but is authentically Italian, the staff are all young and nice, just a little uncoordinated. As the evening progressed the place became packed. You have to experience it to enjoy the food between the shelves full of olive oil, pasta grissini etc. We had to wait a relatively long time between the starter and the main course. But because of the great atmosphere, that didn't matter at all. Price-wise it was okay too. There is only one rating here: 5 stars!

Food arrived late, pasta cold, pizza lukewarm, toppings okay, dough floppy. Conclusion: Never again! I can't believe the shed was full...

I don't recommend it anymore! The owner rejected the voucher we bought for Christmas as a gift for customers and friends, we bought a lot and they were all rejected. He said, absurdly, that he didn't recognize them even though they were signed by him and had their logo. Very disgusting, we paid and couldn't go there eat. Apart from the unsuitable environment for comfortable dining, The staff is rude and the food is served randomly. As Last time I was there, two people who were with me got theirs meals, and when they finished eating, my plate came, like it looks more like a bar. Poor quality.

Very bad experience that I will never try again or recommend it for anyone. It took more than an hour until our dishes arrived, and my dish did not come because they forgot it. Other than that, I ordered pasta with salmon and orange “as described” and what I received is pasta with a “sprinkle” of salmon that you can not see, the orange was just shredded on top and the dish costed 15€! Never come back again.

The food here is very tasty for the price. We have been here several times and have tried both pasta (tonnarelli carbonara) and pizza (with porcini mushrooms & buffalo mozzarella). The pasta is highly recommended, but we weren't entirely convinced by the pizza. It could also be because the waitress somehow forgot and we only got our pizza after almost 50 minutes, which made us a little more critical than usual. The ambience of a former supermarket that gradually became a restaurant without anyone giving a thought to the renovation/refurbishment/lighting concept or all the other bells and whistles is very charming. It has an overall thrown-together feel, but the people are friendly and it somehow has the charm of a friendly neighbor inviting you into their large living room.

Very large selection of different pizzas, as well as pasta. Very tasty in taste. When it came to the wine selection ("house wine"), the staff was a bit overwhelmed with language when it came to specifying the types of wine on offer.... Atmosphere interesting, like in an Italian supermarket, unfortunately a bit loud. Regarding the quality of the food, a clear recommendation!

I used to be a regular customer at Primo, now I'm back after a long time and totally disappointed. Very bad service. The service was inattentive, not friendly, and brought empty pepper mills and the wrong drinks several times. The starters are now really miserable. Simply expensive, small, boring, tasteless and served with stale bread - it used to be different. Pizza and pasta are still awesome!!! The ambience is now a bit over the top. The ceilings etc. are getting very old. Less is more, just like before. I won't be coming back any time soon.

Unfortunately very disappointing...the pasta was too al dente and barely edible, it lacked flavor and some of the ingredients were obviously not fresh. The vegetarian antipasti was dry and not fresh either. The bread was delicious and the employees were very welcoming.

We didn't get a main course for two hours - despite asking 4 times - and then left without it. That shouldn't be the case.

Great Italian in an Italian shop. You sit between shelves with pasta etc. It's fun. The food is very tasty and authentic. Price-performance ratio is also right. The service and especially the boss are very friendly and helpful. And once you've eaten pasta, you can buy it and cook it at home 😀. We recommend the guanciale at the deli counter. A must!!! We would definitely like to come back.

Truly a downfall. It's a shame about what was once a great restaurant that we always enjoyed visiting. Now every corner is filled with tables and chairs (profit seems to be the deciding factor), the food is ok to meager, the price-performance ratio is no longer right (pasta with five small pieces of eggplant almost 15 euros) and the service is loveless and unreliable. Complaints (antipasti was fermenting) were not addressed. We won't be coming back again.

I don't really understand the hype surrounding the store. The food is below average, but expensive. Was there for the second time, but neither the pasta dishes nor the pizza were convincing. Too bad!

Authentic Italian food between supermarket shelves. One A, super friendly service. Hospitality at its best! Price-performance is also good. And do some shopping after dinner! What else do you want?

You're sitting in an Italian grocery store with not great seating and you have to wait a long time for your food. The food is tasty, but the portions are extremely small and the price is really high. I paid €15 for 5 forks of spaghetti and wouldn't be completely full, and the pizza is large but very, very thin, almost like a wrap and doesn't work really fed up.

Informal place, halfway between a supermarket and a restaurant. Good Italian cuisine, especially pasta and pizza. Welcoming and helpful staff.

Der Primomarket…. leckeres Essen aber für 15€, 5 Nudeln… sehr schade. Von den Portionen wird man nicht satt. Geringerer Preis oder größere Portionen -> perfekt!!!

This charming spot is half restaurant, half store, offering authentic Italian products. The tiramisu was exquisite, coupled with a limoncello spritz, it made my night! A must-visit for anyone craving a genuine Italian experience.

Since we have been living in Freiburg, we have often eaten at Primo Market. Food was very tasty and the prices were okay for the quality. I have no idea what happened, whether the owner changed or whether extreme austerity measures were simply taken. There were six of us. 2x paste and 4xpizza + starters. The starter “platter” with the vegetable antipasti was ridiculous. A spoonful of olives, a spoonful of beans, three pepper strips, two slices of eggplant and half an artichoke heart. The other appetizer consisted of a few sausage slices. You have to order extra bread (4 slices, there were six of us so there wasn't even one slice per person in there) for 2.50 🙂 together that was over €20 for hardly anything to eat. The pasta ridiculously small portion. Far too lightly seasoned for our taste. Unfortunately the noodles are not al dente but rather crunchy in some cases. And also €14 for a ladle of pasta. Pizza was okay. Hence one more star. We were excited to show our visitors this cute restaurant. Unfortunately, we are disappointed and almost embarrassed to leave because the quality and performance have decreased so much.

Authentic Italian food! I love it!

I have been in Primo Markt for dinner after a friend suggested this place to me. We asked the waitress if it was possible to have a combination of 2 pastas in one dish. She said that it was not possible to have them on the same dish, but we could have had HALF-PORTION of each (and this usually corresponds to half-price or at least to a reduction on the full price). One of the two pasta (Tagliatelle al Salmone) was extremely dry, with no trace of salt at all. It seemed that this pasta have been warmed up many times. Definitely terrible for Italian pasta, maybe ok for the German standard, but I'm Italian and that is an UNACCEPTABLE pasta in Italy. When we asked for the bill we were charged full price for both half-portions of pasta... We complained with the manager and he said: "We don't have half-portion on the menu, that was a mistake of the waitress to tell you that we could do it". And that's it... We had to pay full price, but the quantity of pasta we received was definitely half, by comparison with the pasta we saw on the other tables. Not great, although I have to say that one of the two pastas, the trippe alla romana and the tiramisù were good. All in all our experience with Primo Markt has NOT been good.

The boss walked around with a handwritten menu, greeted everyone personally and made recommendations for the day. Afterwards you got delicious pizza, pasta and antipasti. Always a bit expensive but proportionate. Today, bored waitresses walk around without any spirit. We waited almost 10 minutes for our card and only received it after asking twice. The food was a disaster and has nothing to do with the quality of “back then”. The pizza base is almost as thin as a tarte flambée, was partly burnt and dry on top of that. The original Pasta Cabonara was sprinkled with so much powdered pepper that it actually only tasted like pepper. The taste of the egg yolk is missing because the pasta was probably too hot and the egg has set, the bacon was carelessly cut into Legoglotz-sized cubes... It's a shame about this great shop with a great boss who used to be available to talk about AS Roma, Juve and AC Milan. Today he is practically only visible behind the counter.

Great shop! Great recommendation, casual but still great Italian food. The fact that the chefs only speak Italian speaks for itself.

Everything is super delicious but you have to go well in advance because it takes a long time to bring the food.

Used to be great. But today we waited 1.5 hours for food and received three carelessly prepared lukewarm, tasteless “ravioli”. What a shame. But we went home with a €70 bill… Otherwise the ambience was great. A pity :-(

We always go to Primo Market, but yesterday it was a disaster. The pizza was a tarte flambée and cold. Veg. Little starter but expensive. Ambience very dusty. Unfortunately that was it for us.

Not worth it anymore. Quality and flair have been lost. Only profit counts. A basket with 2 slices of bread and a few slices is served with the salad. You pay extra for it at the checkout…☹️. A pity. It used to be a highlight in Freiburg

Once good, now a disaster: The sad decline of the Primo market Primo Market was once my absolute favorite restaurant for authentic Italian food. Unfortunately, since the pandemic, the quality has declined so drastically that it's hard to believe. We used to go there regularly, but after a few extremely disappointing visits we stayed away from the restaurant for a long time. Now, after a long break, we wanted to give the restaurant another chance and unfortunately found that the food had gotten even worse. I absolutely cannot understand the new, positive reviews and strongly suspect that they are purchased fake reviews. The food was simply miserable. The salmon tagliatelle consisted of tasteless, overcooked pasta with a little butter. You literally had to look for the salmon, the pieces were so tiny. My previous favorite dish, tagliatelle salsiccia, was unrecognizable: bland pasta with watery, gooey mushrooms and what was supposed to be salsiccia. Impossible to eat. In addition to the disappointing food, the location itself is also completely run down. It seems as if nothing has been invested in decades. The ceilings and walls are yellowed, and mice can occasionally be seen scurrying between the shelves. This condition is absolutely unacceptable for the prices. It's a real shame to see how a once great restaurant has become such a disappointment.

I had a Margarita and it was not good, it felt like it was one of those make it yourself pizza boxes that you you could easily get from aldi or edeka.

The pizza is sensational! The service is very good and the ambience is unique. A must-visit for every stay in Freiburg!

We had a great evening with delicious food and super friendly service Primo Market! Very unusual ambience and really excellent pizzas. Absolute recommendation!

It was not our first time there. If you like thin Pizza then it is ok. But apart from the Pizza which is a matter of taste, we tried 3 different kinds of pasta and they came to us not well cooked. The portions are extremely small and the sauce not enough. In other case we would accept to pay 15 euros for a portion but not for something that small. The dessert was ok but we dont like leaving a restaurant hungry even when having also a dessert. I do not thing we will go there again.

The pizza is too thin, the salad doesn't taste good and neither does the gnocchi

You have to see it! Great food and lots of Italian products to buy directly, payment is always made to the boss at the cash desk! Some tables simply stand between the store aisles, which has something - but it's certainly not for everyone. Takeaway pizza is always worth it too :)

The food was delicious, but it took forever and not all the dishes came together. The waitress was unfriendly and grumpy that it was just smoking. The payment process was very strange and took a long time. My personal highlight, almost funny again, was when the cashier raised his finger, asked us to be patient for a moment and emptied his glass of Aperol in one go. Wise as I think. Such Michis...

I almost never give 5* in advance! I have known Primo Market for a very long time. Back then it was purely an Italian delicatessen. The food is really great and the prices are absolutely fair for this good quality. The ambience takes some getting used to, because necessity has been turned into a virtue here (you sit in the old sales area), but that also has a certain charm. The service is very friendly. I'd love to come back.

The restaurant is a shopping store, which is already getting old. Everything was old but clean. The food was a hit and can be told as an insider tip. I would go there again in a heartbeat. The service was courteous.

The Primo Market is a very simple “store” that is actually a grocery store where you can buy typical Italian products. You'll look in vain for a typical restaurant look. It is furnished very simply and soberly. Tables & chairs. The food tastes really very good. Tried different things from starters, main courses and desserts. Food wise very tasty. Food can also be ordered “to go” and picked up.

We always enjoyed going to Primo Market and were happy to recommend it to others. But what happened now was generally really cheeky and bad. We are disappointed and I for one no longer want to go to the restaurant. There were 5 of us and we ordered a pasta dish and 4 pizzas. The pasta dish came much earlier than the pizzas. This is not a bad thing and can happen. When the pizzas arrived, two of them were already completely cold and the pizza that was ordered as vegetarian came with ham. We pointed out the cold pizzas, they were taken away and brought back lukewarm a short time later. I'm assuming they were simply put in the oven with a plate for a short time. After 5 minutes the pizzas were inedibly cold again. The “vegetarian” pizza was even more unimaginative in the kitchen. This was taken away with the promise of making a new one. 5 minutes later the same pizza was served. Small pieces of ham were still visible. So I complained again and was told that a new pizza would be made immediately. Almost an hour later, after asking several times (including directly from the boss), she came. When we politely expressed our displeasure about it, we were rudely rejected and the blame was placed on us. We would all have ordered the pizzas in a haphazard manner and at odd intervals. Pretty strange because we really all ordered at the same time without any special requests. I guess things were just planned and forgotten and people didn't own up to them. Later when we were paying, we asked the boss about it... This time she reacted completely unfriendly, saying we are not the only people here and they are doing their best and mistakes happen. There was no apology. That would have been enough for us. We were simply treated unkindly, as we had been all evening. And no attempt was made to make up for these mistakes. Yes, of course, we were simply unlucky that evening, but I really don't want to support anyone who reacts in such an unfriendly way and also tries to cheaply cover up the mistakes and not admit them. We weren't listened to in the restaurant, so maybe we can reach the managers this way.

Bad.Tagliatelle Salmone...maximum 1tbsp salmon. Also fried to death. Ambience...takes some getting used to, but that's a matter of taste. Service friendly but disorganized. 4 waitresses approached because you wanted to pay. A waiter came to the table twice to ask if we needed anything else. Drinks only came over 15 minutes later. Which isn't surprising given that there weren't enough staff. Waited over 1 hour for the note that the waitress wrote when accepting the order in order to proceed to the checkout. It doesn't work at all! Far too few service staff. All tables occupied and only 5 servers. How is this supposed to work without compromises? The guests are the lead. Cutlery that is set is handled at the top and distributed to the tables. Hygiene? I won't go there again. Very disappointed 😞

Ate there for the first time yesterday, super tasty, absolutely recommended (Pizza Frutti die mare and Tiramisu), small salad wasn't really my thing, but the address "Princess" from the cashier made up for it :-) I will definitely recommend it and come again.

The atmosphere is special and something different for those who like it. On my Pizza Margherita, like on the simplest Pizza Marinara, I asked if I could also have some garlic and oregano spice, which was then charged on the bill with an additional €2 and €1, which I find overpriced. A small bread basket was served with the two different starter plates that I ordered, which I did not order, but which was then charged separately at €2. Here, additional money is charged on top of the prices, which are not exactly cheap, and this is not correct. The food tasted good, but this action left it with a bad aftertaste. A pity...

I haven't had such a great pizza in a long time. This is what Italy tastes like. The fact that it is served here in the middle of the sale is something special. Everything great...

Too big, too loud, and the truffles were old, the red wine (not a big selection, which is rather strange in a Mark) was mediocre. Nothing to enjoy your dinner in peace.

Mega delicious food, no matter what you take it just tastes very good. BUT, the service definitely needs to be improved, I don't know why, but something is always forgotten, sometimes the food, sometimes the drinks, sometimes you are just left sitting there, regardless of whether you want to order or do something else.

Pizza was okay, but unfortunately nothing more. Service seemed stressed, things were forgotten and mixed up. It was also a shame that the main courses were served very late.

Pizza Frutti di Mare as it once was, now just a simple comparison. No more quality. Nothing special, but it has become more expensive. If the quality is the same, no problem, but there are much better ones in Freiburg... I used to go there often, but it's no longer worth the trip. In addition, the location is now in good condition.

Unfortunately our last visit to Primo. Before the pandemic, we were regulars. Primo was our favorite Italian restaurant in Freiburg - by far. The pasta was fantastic, the pizza was always very good, always generous and with high quality toppings. The restaurant atmosphere was intimate and the presentation of the menu was an absolute experience. Since the pandemic, the number of places has multiplied (at least tripled). The service suffered massively as a result. There is always something missing, the food rarely comes at the same time. The atmosphere has completely changed. You have to run after a lot of things. Always annoying. The fixed menu that has existed since the expansion cannot be compared with the previous presentation, but is understandable and not a problem. What's a big problem is that the food isn't as tasty anymore. The pizza is often disappointing. Often oversalt the pasta. (The pasta is still cooked optimally, but the sauces are no longer at the same level as they used to be). The chefs are different now and are nowhere near the level they used to be. Not even close. Very unfortunate! We spent many great evenings here. Now we get annoyed after every visit. Very sad. But the store “unfortunately” still seems to be booming.

A special place. The overall concept includes the not-so-homey neon atmosphere, the flippantly negligent service and the really delicious food. Unfortunately, the fact that the eccentric "padrone" gives you a whole volley of crude conspiracy theories when you pay without asking leaves a very bad aftertaste.

Geheimtipp in Freiburg. Mitunter einer der besten Pizzen außerhalb Italiens 😉. Alleine die Location ist eigentlich ein Besuch wert, unterstrichen wird das ganze noch durch sehr gutes Essen mit authentischen italienischen Produkten. Egal ob die extrem dünnen Pizzen oder die hausgemachte Paste schlecht isst man in diesem Restaurant definitiv nicht. Für mich ein Pflichtbesuch wenn ich in Freiburg bin!

very sad service. Food evtl. cold by the time you get it. If you are there as a couple, the likelihood is 90% that one of them finished his dinner by the time the other one receives his. If the Service would be up on their thous and try to recognize their guests, it could be a nice place. But sorry this is really bad experience.

Es braucht wenige Worte - immer gute Pizza, zur Abholung immer in weniger als 15min. Ich bin sehr froh, dass es den Primo Market gibt.

Man sitzt „etwas ungemütlich“ im Laden würden manche sagen, allerdings finden wir genau das als authentisch. Es hat sein gewisses Flair dadurch und sie haben es trotzdem schön dekoriert. Das essen hat eine hervorragende Qualität zu einem sehr fairen Preis. Die Pizza ist denke ich für viele Geschmäcker zu knusprig und dünn, jedoch mit viel Belag. Der Service ist sehr lieb und aufmerksam. Wir empfehlen zu reservieren!

Ja, der Primo. Was war das (einmal) für eine Institution. Die beste Pizza in Freiburg dazu sehr gute Pasta-Gerichte und eine lockere Atmosphäre. All das ist - leider - nur noch mit Erfahrung erkennbar. Die Pizza, wegen der ich zuletzt mal wieder in den Primo gegangen bin (bei Abholung ist die Pizza bis ins nahe Zuhause oft kalt), war auch im Restaurant kalt. Eine kalte Parma - kein Genuss. Dazu Parmesan und Parmaschinken (viel zu dick geschnitten) sehr unschön auf der Pizza "verteilt" (eher draufgeschmissen). Service extrem lahm, Laden viel zu voll für die Anzahl an (qualifizierten) Mitarbeitenden und insgesamt ein Preisniveau, dass nicht zur dargebotenen Qualität passt. Schade. Das wars wohl - vorerst - mit dem Primo. Mal sehen, ob der Patron mal wieder eine bessere Crew zusammen kriegt. Dann kann man es uU mal wieder probieren. Bis dahin: Pizza (zumindest in Freiburg) selber machen - oder seine Ansprüche senken.

Top Essen, Top Weine, angemessene Preise und sehr nettes und bemühtes Personal

Superunfreundlicher italienischer Machotyp an der Kasse!! Gruselig. Habe nach einer Kaffeeempfehlung gefragt, würde völlig uncharmant abgewatscht. Wenn ich fast 30 Euro für ein Kilo Kaffee ausgebe möchte ich gerne gut beraten werden. Schlecht. Sehr schlecht. Meinen Kaffee kaufe ich in Zukunft anderswo!!

Ich war das erste Mal aus Neugier da. Die Pasta war ok. Die Pizza mit scharfer Salami war geschmacklich jedoch gerade noch vertretbar. Der Teig war sehr dünn und hat nach nichts geschmeckt. €8,50 für ein Glas Rot- bzw. Weißwein, nicht wissend was man serviert bekommt, ist schon sehr sportlich. Das Ambiente ist Bahnhofshalle. Habe mir die Preise in dem Markt angesehen. Frage mich wer bei diesen Preisen dort einkaufen geht. Für mich genommen einmal und nicht wieder.

Witzige Kombination von Italienischem Feinkost Laden und Italienischem Restaurant. Die Tische zwischen den Regalen sehr cool. Nudeln waren sehr gut, Pizzen durchmischt

Wir waren heute hier zum Essen. Wir wurden freundlich begrüsst und das Essen war sehr schmackhaft und man ist der Meinung in Italien zu sein! Alles Top!

Food was quite average (out of 7 people, only one person found their dish to be very good). No drinks menu was available, so you have to order without knowing prices. We ordered a bottle of the house wine, which was very mediocre, and turned out to be 26€. Some items were overcharged when compared to the price listed in the menu. Left a bad impression.
