Portobello in Timmendorfer Strand

We didn't receive a particularly friendly welcome. We were assigned a table outside. We ordered pizza and drinks. It came fairly quickly. It was difficult to eat with the blunt knife. The crust on the outside was tasty. The toppings slipped back and forth as we were cutting it, and the dough was greasy and very thin. The pizza had hardly any flavor. It had to be seasoned heavily. When paying, we had to catch a waiter. One of them was two tables away, engrossed in private conversation about his new car for over an hour, and he ignored us the whole time. We had three waiters, all of whom showed a complete lack of interest. A real shame. Never again.

The location is good. First floor with a view of the seahorse fountain. The lasagna wasn't that great. The pasta with 4 formaggi was very good.

It was so delicious there. A recommendation for every gourmet.

I was at the restaurant sitting on the balcony, with a magnificent view. The pizza was delicious. I recommend the waiter Selion, a polite man who served me with finesse and pleasure.

Nachdem wir im Ciao Ciao ewig gewartet haben und ohne Bestellung aufgestanden sind, haben wir hier eine sehr gute Alternative gefunden: Die Kellner sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, vom zeitlichen Ablauf wie es sein sollte und die Pizza lecker auf Stein gebacken. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Top service, top ambience, mega wine recommendations of the house

Bitterly disappointed – truly a sad low point after two years of anticipation. For two years, Portobello had been at the top of our list. Every time we were in Timmendorfer Strand or Scharbeutz, we thought: We absolutely have to go there! Well, finally, it worked out. Off-season, we called, wanted to make a reservation, were greeted warmly on the phone, and we could come right in. Perfect, we thought. Unfortunately: a complete no-go. Arrived, sat down – and then? Nothing. No water, no menu, no "Guten Tag," absolutely nothing. We sat at our table for 30 minutes without any attention. Only when I actively approached a member of staff did a conversation start – or rather, a half-hearted "Sorry, I don't speak German." Okay, then in English. We explained things again, politely asked if we could at least order a drink – again: nothing happened. After a total of over 35 minutes, we left. As we left, we wanted to at least speak to someone. First, we were fobbed off, then someone came along—waiter or manager, I don't know—who felt responsible. His reaction? A shrug. A comment along the lines of: You'll have to get used to it, we're short-staffed, that's just the way it is. I don't care. And that's the point: He really didn't care at all. No apology, no regrets, no interest. Not even a simple "I'm sorry that things went this way today." Instead, our justified frustration was laughed off. Absolutely unprofessional—and for a restaurant with this reputation, simply disgraceful. What a pity for the two years of anticipation. What a pity for the potential. And a pity for a restaurant that clearly has no command of organization or hospitality. This was by far the worst service we've experienced in Timmendorf in five years. For us, Portobello is unfortunately history. Never again.

Wir hatten uns sehr auf den Besuch in diesem Restaurant gefreut – von außen macht es einen tollen Eindruck. Doch was dann folgte, war eine der schlechtesten Erfahrungen, die wir je in der Gastronomie gemacht haben. Nachdem wir lange auf einen Tisch gewartet hatten, waren wir zunächst froh, endlich sitzen zu können. Doch dann passierte… nichts. Über 30 Minuten lang kam niemand, um unsere Bestellung aufzunehmen – nicht einmal für Getränke! Als wir schließlich höflich nachfragten, wurde uns mehr oder weniger klargemacht, dass hier „alle Englisch sprechen“ und wir uns daran gewöhnen müssten. Unser Hinweis auf den schlechten Service wurde abgetan – ja, wir wurden dafür fast noch beschimpft. Das Verhalten des Personals war unhöflich, abweisend und respektlos. So etwas haben wir noch nie erlebt. Wir fühlten uns nicht willkommen, sondern als Störfaktor. Fazit: Dieses Restaurant lebt nur vom äußeren Schein. Wer Wert auf guten Service, Gastfreundschaft und einen angenehmen Abend legt, sollte diesen Ort meiden. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

When the weather is great, the meal is best enjoyed on the terrace. Food and service was good.

When the weather is nice, I recommend sitting on the terrace. You can't make a reservation there, but we got a spot straight away :) The pizzas were very tasty and there is a very tasty portion of pesto to start with, which is freshly made. Always happy to come back!

We were greeted very friendly. You have to look for the entrance a bit, but it's definitely worth looking for. The service was very good and the food was extremely tasty. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately the food was disappointing. The lasagne was a dumpling of dough in which you had to look for the meat. Overall, it tasted bland, as did the quattro formaggi pizza - although we are quite undemanding, especially when it comes to pizza.

The ambience is appealing. However, you can definitely smell cigarettes from the next room. The pepper and salt shakers are cheap and have an overdue best before date, but have probably been refilled. The music was a bit too loud that evening and the greeting from the kitchen was left on the table without comment. The food itself was visually appealing in terms of taste but did not meet our high standards. There are no salads at all on the clear menu. A large selection of exclusive wines.

It's actually a rare review from me in the catering sector It's almost impossible to remain emotionless after such a disgraceful treatment. The starter is a potpourri of ingredients with an indefinable taste (high level of acidity, too much salt, little taste). The vegetarian version ordered was just a quickly made meatless version in which the meat component was simply removed and unfortunately it didn't provide any reasonable compensation. At the request of the service staff present, I clearly communicated my discomfort, but from that moment on I was stoically ignored. Unfortunately, second course was even less convincing. When paying, the waitress no longer stood at the table; she probably had more important things to do than say goodbye to the guests properly. No goodbye, no thanks... We simply left the plate with the cash there. Price/performance ratio is not right at all... impersonal, unreflective and indifferent.

Price-performance ratio depends on the location and not on the quality of the food. We would have liked information that the starter salad and side salad were the same, so we had the same salads twice.

...unfortunately our visit yesterday was actually a failure... The tip / in the menu with the seafood plate was completely excessive at 34.90 euros, the few mussels, etc. / with 2 slices of bread .. without words.. and The starter plate was a stripped down cold cuts platter with Italian ham and salami including 5 olives with oil and 2 small pizza rolls... This could definitely be better, very disappointing... In addition, a completely lethargic waiter, without emotion...!!!

Good location, increased prices and in our case the service was just ok. We personally didn't like the drinks (Hot Aperol and apple mulled wine), but the café can't help that 😀

Richtig toller Abend - freundlicher und kompetenter Service , leckerer Wein (gute weinauswahl) und tolles Essen ! Spaghetti mit Meeresfrüchten war richtig lecker, wir waren mit 9 Personen da, allen hat es geschmeckt - besser geht nicht. Super Italiener, etwas versteckt im zweiten Stock, drinnen schön laut und gemütlich, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Das Personal war unverschämt, unfreundlich und patzig. Wartezeit aufs Essen (nur Pizza) eine knappe Stunde. Bei den Preisen leider alles völlig inakzeptabel!

Ein uriges Lokal im ersten Stock. Die Angestellten und der Chef waren alle (kinder)freundlich, das Essen zu sehr solide und schnell fertig, der Wein war gut. Rund herum ein gelungenes Abendessen. Gerne wieder.:-) Wir hatten eine Vorspeise, Pizza und ein Dolce.

Besuch gestern Abend.04.10.2024 Das Personal war sehr unfreundlich ,besser geht’s nicht. Geschirr abgestoßen, Besteck wie aus der Kantine. Bei dem Preisniveau. Essen war sehr schlecht ,Spagetti mit Meeresfrüchten, hätte besser gepasst Spagetti mit Kaugummi. Maccheroni waren irgendwelche Nudeln rund 5 Zentimeter lang. Wurden gefragt ob alles in Ordnung war. Wurde verneint. Dann hat man in der Küche nachgefragt. Essen wurde vom Koch für gut befunden . Typisch Italiener nicht Kritikfähig.

Based on a recommendation, we decided to eat at Portobello on a Friday in August. Our reserved table was festively set as requested. The service staff was extremely friendly. The dishes chosen were excellent, the liver in particular is recommended. Beforehand, a greeting from the kitchen and dessert are recommended. It was a lovely evening for the four of us.

We arrived after 8:00 p.m. and the restaurant was no longer full at that time. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks and another hour for our food. At that time the restaurant was almost empty. No apology from the waitress. Pizza was ok, spaghetti was too soft.

Wir hatten Pizza und die war OK und wir haben nichts zu beanstanden. Zu den anderen Gerichten kann ich nicht viel sagen. Wir haben ohne Reservierung einen Tisch erhalten. Leider schien der Service sehr gestresst oder überfordert, hat manchmal ein wenig gedauert aber es hat alles gut geklappt. Für eine Pizza würde ich wieder kommen. Hunde erlaubt.

Only bad! We had reserved for 15 people, 1.5 hours after ordering, 8 received their food. The rest wasn't until another 20 minutes later, when the first ones were already finished. The beer was stale, non-carbonated. Guests who arrived later were served before us. No information or apology when asked, the food would come soon. Missing drinks would not be noticed. The food was average. Shitty service in a place with an unpleasant atmosphere and bad staff. Never again!

The restaurant is located in the immediate vicinity of Timmendorfer Strand. The restaurant is on the first floor, so a few stairs are unavoidable. It was very dark and slightly stuffy inside. We sat on the roof terrace from which you can see other restaurants and shops, but it was nice in the sun at 20 degrees. The card was attractive and individual. Unfortunately, our expectations were somewhat disappointed in terms of taste. My three kinds of fish were juicy but only spicy with a little sauce. Unfortunately lemon was missing. The mashed potatoes were not good for me as a lover of it, dry, and I was missing butter and milk. The pointed cabbage was good in terms of consistency and seasoning. My husband's pizza had a very thin crust and the eggplant was unfortunately tough. But the taste is ok. The greeting from the kitchen was quite positive, 1 pizza roll for everyone with a tasty green pesto!

Mediocre food, stale beer, overwhelmed service!! Despite pre-registration of a group of 15 people, the restaurant was unable to communicate that it was not possible to eat together under any circumstances. The first 8 people could have had dessert before the others even had their main course. But it wouldn't have been possible because it wasn't even asked. The waiting time for the food was unusually long. Unfortunately the tagliatelle were not tagliatelle but Mafaldine and unfortunately unseasoned. Unfortunately, my companions' side dishes were only brought when the main course was almost eaten - there was no excuse for this. The quality of the food was just average. Even if high prices can be expected in Timmendorf, they were in stark disproportion to quality and service. I was here today for the first and last time.

A wonderful evening! We’ve been regular customers for 29 years and Portobello did not disappoint. Great service, both owners coming to the table and checking in with us. The terrace has been renovated and gives great views of the town center. Food was back to its former quality with Mario, the owner, supervising each dish as it leaves the kitchen. Highly recommended when you come to Timmendorf

Suddenly loud 80's music started playing during the meal and the lights were dimmed - without a word. A cozy evening was out of the question. The attention was focused on the regulars and less on the other guests. Good thing we were almost finished with the meal, but we left the wine behind. The money is misinvested.

Pizza was very tasty. Unfortunately, the edge is more fluffy than crispy, which I personally didn't like, but that's a matter of taste. The drinks were also good, as was the service. The food came quickly and was hot, despite being Saturday evening. Seats by the window overlooking the city's central square. The entrance is difficult to find, it is between the Bugatti store and the cafe.

We have been coming to Portobello regularly during our stays in Timmendorf for about 10 years. Especially in summer, dinner on the terrace with a view of the square is a nice experience. We have never fallen for the food, which is probably because they only use high-quality products (e.g. pasta) and therefore they are always very tasty. The extra menu with unusual dishes is always appealing 😋. The owners and employees always have a kind word to say, even when it's really crowded. All we can say is, again and again👍.

Only the steep stairs to the restaurant are a small dampener. Food was super tasty. Spaghetti with strips of beef fillet is a hit. But spaghetti with parmesan and black truffle is also really good.

Ambiente wirklich nicht schön, wenn man drinnen sitzt. Draußen auf der Terasse- wäre es sicherlich schöner gewesen, da war jedoch schon alles voll. Drinnen ist die Deko absolut nicht schön. Merkwürdige Fotografien-absolut nicht zeitgemäß, ansonsten rustikal eingerichtet. Passt für mich aber nicht mit den Preisen auf der Karte zusammen. Pizza war gut aber nicht 14,90€ wert. Bedienung war auch etwas komisch, man hat sich nicht so willkommen gefühlt. Auf die Frage, ob ich meine Pizza bitte vegan haben könnte (also einfach nur den Käse und die Salami weglassen), bekam ich nur einen komischen Blick- nach dem Motto "dein Ernst?"(Pizza war dann aber vegan). So etwas ist mir noch nie passiert und spricht nicht gerade für einen freundlichen Kundenkontakt.

Wir lieben diesen Italiener seit Jahren, meine Eltern seit 25 Jahren. Die Pizza am Montag war mal wieder 1A, der Service (zwei Männer zwischen 30-40 Jahren) äußerst freundlich, dezent und aufmerksam! Danke!

Leider gibt es als Beilagen nur Kartoffeln und Kartoffelstampf. Die Portionen waren sehr klein. Von eine Vorspeise wurde uns vom Kellner abgeraten-diese wäre sehr groß. Schade. Wir werden nicht wieder kommen.

Die Pizza ist sehr sehr gut ! Service ist super nett, Brot mit Dip gibt es auch. Die Pizzen waren zudem schnell da. Preis-Leistung ist mehr als gut! Das Ambiente innen ist ok, allerdings ist die Terrasse draußen sehr romantisch!

Wir waren das erste und auch leider das letzte Mal dort. Die Bedienung war sehr verhalten, wenn nicht sogar unfreundlich bis überarbeitet und sehr wortkarg. Von allem etwas. Wir sind mit Hund dort hingegangen, es war warm und wir haben immer Wasser dabei. Jedoch hatten wir das Schälchen vergessen. Ich fragte nach einem Schälchen und bekam die Antwort, es wäre nicht erlaubt im Restaurant dem Hund was zu trinken zu geben. Wasser steht auf dem Absatz der Treppe. Leider war dieses Wasser versabbelt und trüb. Unser Hund trinkt es nicht. Das Restaurant ist leider in unseren Augen zu alt von der Einrichtung. Das Ambiente ist dunkel und abgewohnt. Da kann ein Balkon mit Tischen drauf nichts wett machen Das Essen steht in keinem Preisleistungsverhältnis. Da gibt es im Ort bessere Restaurants. Wir mussten 20Minuten warten, ehe wir zahlen konnten. Unser Fazit:wir sind gerne bereit, um gut essen zu gehen auch entsprechend zu zahlen. Aber das Portobello gehört leider nicht dazu.

Vor 4 Jahren wurden wir hier noch super bedient mit frisch zubereitetem Essen. Heute wurden wir hier auf der ganzen Linie enttäuscht. Wenn ein italienisches Restaurant nicht fähig ist einfachste Spaghetti Bolognese oder Carbonara anzubieten (auch wenn es unverständlichlicherweise nicht auf der Speisekarte stand) hat dies nichts mehr mit einem Italiener zu tun! Wir bestellten dann Lasagne, die kam noch halb gefroren (eiskalter Bodenbelag) und somit war schnell klar, ein reines Gastro-Service Produkt (Fertigmenü das nur noch aufgewärmt wird). Gut, das machen heute leider fast alle Restaurants unter 3 Sternen so, aber der Hammer war, das wir, kaum haben wir das Besteck nach dem Essen auf den Teller gelegt, auch schon die Rechnung präsentiert. Wir hätten eigentlich gerne noch „Dolce“ also ein Dessert bestellt. Für ine glich dies einem Rauswurf, was einfach nicht annehmbar ist! Wir mit italienischem Bezug fühlten uns hier kulinarisch komplett fehl am Platz. Schade darum, es war mal so viel Liebe hier im Essen und in der Bedienung drin, nach Corona scheint es hier aber nur noch um Massenabfertigung und Profit zu gehen. Auch auf die Erklärung hin an das Personal wurde uns keine wirklich ernst gemeinte Entscheidung entgegen gebracht, man bot uns lediglich an die Rechnung nochmals abzugeben und dafür die Speisekarte nochmals zu konsultieren. Ein richtiger Italiener hätte bei solch einem Fauxpas aber mindestens einen kleinen Entschuldigungsgetränk angeboten. Wir kommen bestimmt nicht wieder und können nur empfehlen auf alternative Restaurant auszuweichen. Dieses Erlebnis hier ist schon grundsätzlich nicht annehmbar, und erst recht nicht an einer Prime-Location!

Eine sehr gute Pizzeria mit einem Wintergarten , Außenplätzen und auch drin kann man sitzen. Die Preise sind hier noch im Rahmen. Die Pizzen schmecken super. In meinem Fall die Pizza Rustica 14,90€. Schwarze Spaghetti mit Meeresfrüchten 18,90€.Ein Glas Rotwein 0,2 ltr. 7,80€ . Kleiner Salat 5,00€. Aufmerksamer Service. 2 mal waren wir dort. DANKE !

Wollten heute Abend eine Pizza bestellen. 21 Uhr am Sonntag. Pizzateig alle. Reaktion sehr unfreundlich. Keine Empfehlung.

Wir haben etwas zum Mitnehmen bestellt, sollten in 15 Minuten da sein zum Abholen, vor Ort mussten wir dann nochmal 20 Minuten warten. Der Salat für 13 Euro ist unfassbar. So wenig hab ich selten für 13 Euro bekommen. Lasagne ebenfalls sehr übersichtlich. In meiner Pizza war leider irgendwas Metallisches, wahrscheinlich nicht Standard, aber ein Hinweis darauf, dass es Optimierungspotential gibt.

Essen und Service war wirklich super! Pizza Quattro Formaggi war die beste, die ich bisher hatte. Also wirklich Top! KleineWir saßen im Wintergarten und da mangelt es ein wenig an Charme aus unserer Sicht. Dennoch klare Empfehlung!!

Dieses Restaurant kann ich nur wärmstens empfehlen wenn man in Timmendorfer ist . Eines der besten italienischen Restaurants die ich kenne. Auch mit Kind gut zu besuchen. Wir kommen wieder.

Super Restaurant mit toller Terrasse und erstklassigem Ambiente. Der Burrata-Tomatensalat war Weltklasse, auch die Pizza Burrata ist sehr lecker gewesen. Sehr kinderfreundlich.

Putenfilet Medaillons mit Parmaschinken Salbeisoße , Gemüse und Rosmarinkartoffeln war super lecker.
