We ordered for pickup. The pizza was perfectly fine, but nothing special. There weren't many vegetarian options.

The food was delicious! It was actually one of the best pizza doughs I've ever had! Unfortunately, the service wasn't that attentive, as it was a very busy evening, so you can't really blame the waiters. We only asked for olive oil once, for which we waited quite a while. I also asked for chili oil for the pizza, but unfortunately, it never arrived.

Hello, the food is so good!!! The service is the nicest I've ever experienced. The food is so great and the location of the restaurant is so good—on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the town hall square, and there's a nice playground nearby. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!!!

Delicious but very standard food. The winter garden is a very pleasant place to sit. Unfortunately, the service is absolutely disastrous and unfriendly.

If the weather is nice, I recommend sitting on the terrace. You can't make reservations there, but we got a spot right away :) The pizzas were delicious, and they start with a delicious portion of freshly prepared pesto. We're always happy to come back! Addendum: We came back and didn't get our menus until 20 minutes later, and our drinks – a watery Aperol – after 40 minutes. The pizza was as usual (well, good), but overall, the experience was completely different than usual. We won't be back again...

It's the year 2025. In a time when lovers of baked flatbread with tomato sauce and mozzarella are being buffeted by companies like Domino's or Freddy Fresh. In these uncertain times, there's still a place in tranquil Timmendorfer Strand where even the Nonnina dall'Italia can be happy. Portobello is an Italian restaurant where not only your dog will be happy, but you can also save on postage by taking the pizza to the beach. The pizzas were first-class. A definite recommendation! Only the entrance to the restaurant is a bit difficult to find. But with a ladder, you can easily reach the terrace on the first floor.

Those not allowed to sit on the beautiful terrace (no reservations are made here, and a opaque system is used to select those who are allowed to be part of the lovely circle) are seated in a rather rustic and uninviting ambiance. This unfortunately mars the experience of the solid food, which certainly seems ambitious but only partially lives up to its promise.

The two of us went there for dinner yesterday. We each had a pizza and a drink. The pizza was absolutely fine, but nothing special. As a gesture, all guests received a pizza roll with a free pesto dip! It was meant kindly, but it's a matter of taste! Unfortunately, the service wasn't that great. You'd expect restaurants to make a lot of money from drinks, but if no one even stops by and the glass sits empty at the edge of the table for 30 minutes, we'll just spend the money somewhere else :). In our opinion, the service was perceived as more like mass processing.

I've been a guest at Portobello with irregular regularity over the past few years, and my recent experiences prompt me to play on the word "falling star." My recent visit in July was unpleasant in that I had previously raved about Portobello to my two companions. When we arrived, we were seated outside the main dining area in a side area of the restaurant. The tablecloth (campsite flair, sorry) was so dirty that it indicated at least three guests had passed by before us. The menu was handed over without a word, and the waiter took our drink orders non-verbally. Our meal order was quite simple: TAGLIATELLE AL PORTOBELLO, PIZZA a MODO MIO, PIZZA HAWAII. Tomato soup with it. The latter was completely drenched in oil and almost inedible. This was noted without comment. Both pizzas were dry and poorly seasoned; only the pasta warranted at least two stars. give. I even claim that the "ribbon noodles" were handmade, but they were much too firm and had a bit of a bite. The crowning glory, however, was the completely unmotivated and very arrogant service. Our conclusion: Like sandbox love, it's better to consume the memory.

The food at Portobello was very good, we got a table quickly, but unfortunately, there wasn't much service after that, apart from visiting supposed regulars at other tables.

We had a bit of everything: antipasti, pizza, pasta, and a meat dish. Admittedly, everything could have been a bit more, but the taste and quality are beyond reproach. The ambiance is okay, a bit dated, but it just fits the style.

Today was our first time at Portobello. This time will also be our last! The service was unbelievably bad! Unfriendly, arrogant, and ignorant! The food was tasteless and sometimes completely oversalted. I had the veal leather, and I have to say it's a shame the animal had to die for it! It was tough and burnt in places. The service didn't respond to criticism at all, or you were even scolded and ignored. For the prices, an absolute no-go. That was the first and last time.

Unfortunately, I have to deduct a point for the food, as the menu called for creme brulee with homemade compote. I got a scoop of ice cream and a few drops of compote. It might be sold out, but that's not a problem as long as you let us know. The pizza was simply amazing. Some of the service didn't speak German. The staff was a bit unfriendly.

We didn't receive a particularly friendly welcome. We were assigned a table outside. We ordered pizza and drinks. It came fairly quickly. It was difficult to eat with the blunt knife. The crust on the outside was tasty. The toppings slipped back and forth as we were cutting it, and the dough was greasy and very thin. The pizza had hardly any flavor. It had to be seasoned heavily. When paying, we had to catch a waiter. One of them was two tables away, engrossed in private conversation about his new car for over an hour, and he ignored us the whole time. We had three waiters, all of whom showed a complete lack of interest. A real shame. Never again.

The location is good. First floor with a view of the seahorse fountain. The lasagna wasn't that great. The pasta with 4 formaggi was very good.

Top service, top ambience, mega wine recommendations of the house

Bitterly disappointed – truly a sad low point after two years of anticipation. For two years, Portobello had been at the top of our list. Every time we were in Timmendorfer Strand or Scharbeutz, we thought: We absolutely have to go there! Well, finally, it worked out. Off-season, we called, wanted to make a reservation, were greeted warmly on the phone, and we could come right in. Perfect, we thought. Unfortunately: a complete no-go. Arrived, sat down – and then? Nothing. No water, no menu, no "Guten Tag," absolutely nothing. We sat at our table for 30 minutes without any attention. Only when I actively approached a member of staff did a conversation start – or rather, a half-hearted "Sorry, I don't speak German." Okay, then in English. We explained things again, politely asked if we could at least order a drink – again: nothing happened. After a total of over 35 minutes, we left. As we left, we wanted to at least speak to someone. First, we were fobbed off, then someone came along—waiter or manager, I don't know—who felt responsible. His reaction? A shrug. A comment along the lines of: You'll have to get used to it, we're short-staffed, that's just the way it is. I don't care. And that's the point: He really didn't care at all. No apology, no regrets, no interest. Not even a simple "I'm sorry that things went this way today." Instead, our justified frustration was laughed off. Absolutely unprofessional—and for a restaurant with this reputation, simply disgraceful. What a pity for the two years of anticipation. What a pity for the potential. And a pity for a restaurant that clearly has no command of organization or hospitality. This was by far the worst service we've experienced in Timmendorf in five years. For us, Portobello is unfortunately history. Never again.

Doch was dann folgte, war eine der schlechtesten Erfahrungen, die wir je in der Gastronomie gemacht haben. Nachdem wir lange auf einen Tisch gewartet hatten, waren wir zunächst froh, endlich sitzen zu können. Doch dann passierte… nichts. Über 30 Minuten lang kam niemand, um unsere Bestellung aufzunehmen – nicht einmal für Getränke! Als wir schließlich höflich nachfragten, wurde uns mehr oder weniger klargemacht, dass hier „alle Englisch sprechen“ und wir uns daran gewöhnen müssten. Unser Hinweis auf den schlechten Service wurde abgetan – ja, wir wurden dafür fast noch beschimpft. Das Verhalten des Personals war unhöflich, abweisend und respektlos. So etwas haben wir noch nie erlebt. Wir fühlten uns nicht willkommen, sondern als Störfaktor. Fazit: Dieses Restaurant lebt nur vom äußeren Schein. Wer Wert auf guten Service, Gastfreundschaft und einen angenehmen Abend legt, sollte diesen Ort meiden. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

Unfortunately the food was disappointing. The lasagne was a dumpling of dough in which you had to look for the meat. Overall, it tasted bland, as did the quattro formaggi pizza - although we are quite undemanding, especially when it comes to pizza.

The ambience is appealing. However, you can definitely smell cigarettes from the next room. The pepper and salt shakers are cheap and have an overdue best before date, but have probably been refilled. The music was a bit too loud that evening and the greeting from the kitchen was left on the table without comment. The food itself was visually appealing in terms of taste but did not meet our high standards. There are no salads at all on the clear menu. A large selection of exclusive wines.

It's actually a rare review from me in the catering sector It's almost impossible to remain emotionless after such a disgraceful treatment. The starter is a potpourri of ingredients with an indefinable taste (high level of acidity, too much salt, little taste). The vegetarian version ordered was just a quickly made meatless version in which the meat component was simply removed and unfortunately it didn't provide any reasonable compensation. At the request of the service staff present, I clearly communicated my discomfort, but from that moment on I was stoically ignored. Unfortunately, second course was even less convincing. When paying, the waitress no longer stood at the table; she probably had more important things to do than say goodbye to the guests properly. No goodbye, no thanks... We simply left the plate with the cash there. Price/performance ratio is not right at all... impersonal, unreflective and indifferent.

The tip / in the menu with the seafood plate was completely excessive at 34.90 euros, the few mussels, etc. / with 2 slices of bread .. without words.. and The starter plate was a stripped down cold cuts platter with Italian ham and salami including 5 olives with oil and 2 small pizza rolls... This could definitely be better, very disappointing... In addition, a completely lethargic waiter, without emotion...!!!

Price-performance ratio depends on the location and not on the quality of the food. We would have liked information that the starter salad and side salad were the same, so we had the same salads twice.

Richtig toller Abend - freundlicher und kompetenter Service , leckerer Wein (gute weinauswahl) und tolles Essen ! Spaghetti mit Meeresfrüchten war richtig lecker, wir waren mit 9 Personen da, allen hat es geschmeckt - besser geht nicht. Super Italiener, etwas versteckt im zweiten Stock, drinnen schön laut und gemütlich, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Das Personal war unverschämt, unfreundlich und patzig. Wartezeit aufs Essen (nur Pizza) eine knappe Stunde. Bei den Preisen leider alles völlig inakzeptabel!

Ein uriges Lokal im ersten Stock. Die Angestellten und der Chef waren alle (kinder)freundlich, das Essen zu sehr solide und schnell fertig, der Wein war gut. Rund herum ein gelungenes Abendessen. Gerne wieder.:-) Wir hatten eine Vorspeise, Pizza und ein Dolce.

Besuch gestern Abend.04.10.2024 Das Personal war sehr unfreundlich ,besser geht’s nicht. Geschirr abgestoßen, Besteck wie aus der Kantine. Bei dem Preisniveau. Essen war sehr schlecht ,Spagetti mit Meeresfrüchten, hätte besser gepasst Spagetti mit Kaugummi. Maccheroni waren irgendwelche Nudeln rund 5 Zentimeter lang. Wurden gefragt ob alles in Ordnung war. Wurde verneint. Dann hat man in der Küche nachgefragt. Essen wurde vom Koch für gut befunden . Typisch Italiener nicht Kritikfähig.

Based on a recommendation, we decided to eat at Portobello on a Friday in August. Our reserved table was festively set as requested. The service staff was extremely friendly. The dishes chosen were excellent, the liver in particular is recommended. Beforehand, a greeting from the kitchen and dessert are recommended. It was a lovely evening for the four of us.

A wonderful evening! We’ve been regular customers for 29 years and Portobello did not disappoint. Great service, both owners coming to the table and checking in with us. The terrace has been renovated and gives great views of the town center. Food was back to its former quality with Mario, the owner, supervising each dish as it leaves the kitchen. Highly recommended when you come to Timmendorf

Suddenly loud 80's music started playing during the meal and the lights were dimmed - without a word. A cozy evening was out of the question. The attention was focused on the regulars and less on the other guests. Good thing we were almost finished with the meal, but we left the wine behind. The money is misinvested.

Pizza was very tasty. Unfortunately, the edge is more fluffy than crispy, which I personally didn't like, but that's a matter of taste. The drinks were also good, as was the service. The food came quickly and was hot, despite being Saturday evening. Seats by the window overlooking the city's central square. The entrance is difficult to find, it is between the Bugatti store and the cafe.
