The food is quite good. Unfortunately, the service is somewhat unfriendly and inattentive. It's a popular place.

PHO-1986 at Merianstrasse 3 is highly recommended! Here you'll find authentic Vietnamese dishes that taste just like they do in Vietnam. Especially delicious are Bún ca, Phở Bò, Phở Gà, Bún chả, Bún nem, Bún bò trộn, and Phở xào – all of which are also available in vegetarian versions. The cuisine is fresh, aromatic, and steeped in Vietnamese tradition. Anyone who loves genuine Vietnamese food should definitely visit PHO-1986!

The food was incredibly delicious, the service was very friendly, and the food arrived very quickly; we barely had to wait. The only thing I would personally criticize is that the chairs weren't particularly practical, as we were sitting very close together, even with other guests, but that would be nitpicking at the highest level. Nevertheless, we were very satisfied and can only recommend it!

Beef with a vintage taste of bygone times . 1986 is the year on the street sign, very consistent clue.. Smiling not available. Very central area and therefore fully packed indoors during rush hours. Preferred place for people of the category of "give-me-anything-then-I-shall-eat-anyway". In the year 1986 paying by card was not usual. Same currently in the year 2025.

It's very pleasantly decorated and has a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and the waiter was very friendly.

Very mediorcre food. Nothing special. We ordered the wantan and pho. Both were not good. The pho broth was meh and I think they use soup powder to flavour it so, its salty and not as brothy. I got the chicken pho and my friend the tofu pho. We discovered that the broth in pho is actually made with beef. So, if you are a vegetarian/vegan please ask before ordering. In the middle of our meal, we asked them about the broth and as one of us don't eat beef, the response was that in a Asian restaurant you should have asked first. Felt like the service was as bland as the food.

Friendly, fast, and consistently delicious. 😋🫡 I usually go twice a month and have never been disappointed.

If you are concerned about your health, you should never go here. It is too salty and does not go well with Vietnamese ingredients. You especially need to prepare cash.

I want to make it clear that there is not a single vegan option (confirmed by the waiter). Every meal has fish sauce and I wouldn't advice to just ask to take the fish sauce out and expect something vegan or even vegetarian.

Nice and small Asian restaurant. We just barely managed to get a seat, which we were very happy about. The food was delicious, and small requests like an extra portion of cilantro were dealt with quickly and without any problems. We were very satisfied and would happily recommend the restaurant. Thank you for the lovely lunch.

Centrally located. We got a table quickly and were served promptly. The appetizers were delicious. For our main course, we had soups (some with chicken, some with beef). The soup tasted great. However, it only contained noodles, meat, sprouts, and very few vegetables. Overall, we found the soup a bit boring and would have preferred something else (but that's a matter of taste, of course ;-) ).

The food was OK, nothing special, and was prepared very quickly. More like a fast food joint than a restaurant.

This was my first time at this restaurant and I tried pho for the first time – and I was absolutely thrilled! I had the "Pho 86 with chicken" – the taste was simply amazing! I particularly liked the subtle hint of lime – I fell in love with it. The menu is pleasantly small, which makes it easy to choose and, for me, is a good sign of quality. The ambiance is very appealing, and the service was friendly and attentive. If I didn't live so far away, I'd probably be a regular. But when I'm back in Freiburg, I'll definitely be back!

These were dishes that smelled quite Vietnamese. The best part was that the meat in the bun cha was tender and had a lively flavor. The noodles were a bit disappointing because they weren't chewy and broke easily. The nem cuon was also fresh and crunchy, so the basics were well-done. The sauce was mild (not fish sauce-based) to suit Western tastes. A Westerner came over to me and asked for the menu after seeing the bun cha I was eating. When I was paying, I saw that person bringing her husband and eating bun cha. I was happy.

Delicious Pho, delicious Vietnamese...

The soup is average for an Asian person. I ordered Pho with beef. They didn't use the right parts of the meat or add onions. The taste was so bland and not enough broth flavor. It might work for Europeans though.

We wanted to go out for something to eat this Friday evening. At 8:25 p.m., the outside area was cleared away. And we were told the kitchen was closed. I couldn't understand that.

The table and chairs were sticky. And everything else was rather dirty, too. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a good vegetarian/vegan alternative to the homemade fish and lime sauce. My meal, unfortunately, tasted of nothing. What a shame!

I was there with my wife on Saturday. Delicious spring rolls for starters. Fantastic! For my main course, I had rice noodle soup. A nice, rich broth with great spices. I just would have liked a bit more vegetables in the soup. My wife had a rice noodle dish. It was even better than mine... She said: "Super delicious!" The food came quickly, and we were served friendly. A great experience, too. We'll be back again. The only downside was the lack of beer on the menu. But that's nitpicking.

We came into the restaurant at 8 and were immediately greeted in a friendly manner with “We close at 9”. When we asked if we could share a soup we were brushed off. Then just do not!

Very unfriendly. Were received at 8 p.m. with the words that it would close at 9. Apparently they would prefer to close earlier here. And you can't share soup either. Then they left.

I'm actually a regular and always thought the food was great, but today I went into town specifically to get the food and the restaurant closed half an hour early - well, it's a bit disrespectful to the guests, especially if you've changed plans specifically for the visit

Very tasty food that is served surprisingly quickly. There is no wine or beer, but all the usual soft drinks and spritzers. The service is very friendly, but the atmosphere is a bit too simple and uncomfortable and is unfortunately reminiscent of a fast food restaurant.

I ordered beef rice noodles. The soup is clean and the staff is friendly!! It was nice to feel the same taste of the rice noodles I had in Vietnam.

Very tasty food that came very quickly. The selection is very good, a lot of it is also gluten-free and they know if you ask about it. Unfortunately it's a bit small overall, which makes the atmosphere not so pleasant to sit in. But the food makes up for it.

Delicious in itself, my colleague wanted prawns with rice and got noodles with duck, then she got noodles with prawns and then only 5 small prawns, the service wasn't particularly keen, last time they were more motivated, I'll change the review if so will be better next time.

The food at Pho was really tasty and served extremely quickly. However, the ambience is rather simple, and the narrow layout of the restaurant and the limited, not very comfortable seating make it look more like a snack bar. Nevertheless, the good food makes up for these small weaknesses

We visited this restaurant because of the many good reviews, but were quite disappointed with the food ourselves. The two different rice noodle dishes tasted like ready meals, were quite boring and only became a little spicier after adding soy and chilli sauce. Service was ok, but we still won't be regular customers.

I have never tried pho noodles even in Korea and this was my first time trying them here. It was very delicious and I recommend the beef puff menu. The staff were friendly and the meal was satisfactory.

The reservation option via Google is not accepted in the restaurant itself. It's a mystery to me why this isn't simply deactivated.

There were 5 of us with a toddler (1.5 years old). The service helped us with a high chair. Service was quick. We had, among other things, Pho and Ban Nam Bo. Both were very tasty!

Small, narrow restaurant. Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly service. There is a good selection of delicious noodle soups, wok dishes and Vietnamese salads. And appetizers. It took me forever to decide on one of the many delicacies. My greed reads me ordering the appetizer platter V8. And then a noodle soup. I stuffed everything into myself with gusto and left nothing left. It was just very, very tasty. Plus a homemade lychee lemonade. The price for everything: Great... I won't say anything more about it. An unconditional recommendation. Again and again

We had summer rolls with shrimp, fried wontons with chicken filling, and fried prawns. Everything was very tasty and freshly prepared.

We planned to eat here at 10:45 today. We specifically chose this restaurant because they are supposed to be open from 10:30 a.m. Unfortunately we were told that there wouldn't be anything for another hour. It's a shame, maybe you should then write that hot food should only be served at a certain time or adjust the opening times. We've been here before and the food was very good.

Delicious Vietnamese cuisine. I had pho soup, my son had 2x chicken skewers. Both were tasty and reasonably priced ramen.

Unfortunately, the management has remained stuck in the Middle Ages and only accepts cash. Things are progressing, yay. I was there again 2 weeks ago and found out that card payments will be available from August 2024. Had credibly insured staff.

As a Vietnamese, I 100% recommend this restaurant. The duck Bun Nam Bo was my favorite!

Small, cute restaurant in Freiburg and the best place to go for Vietnamese food. Inexpensive, great selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. You can always get a table spontaneously. The service is also great and so is the kitchen. But be careful: no card payment possible!

We both ate pho with tofu here and it was just so delicious. It really tastes like it was freshly delivered from Hanoi (familiar, we were there) 🤤 Probably the best Pho I've eaten in Germany so far. 🙂‍↕️☝🏻 Service was also top notch, food came super quickly. Very nice, clean place 🤩

The food is very inexpensive and super tasty. It's worth making a reservation, but you can get a spot relatively quickly if it's full. The dishes are super seasoned and have just the right amount! Highly recommended :)

We sat at the entrance. It quickly filled up with waiting guests. I find it very uncomfortable when someone stands right next to me and waits for me to pay. The service was actually friendly, but sometimes very hectic. I don't like sitting on high chairs and tables, but that's ok. However, with 4 people, space is tight. I'm actually a fan of cash. But in the restaurant I pay by card. I think it's very bad that card payments won't be possible in 2024. And if so, it should be pointed out at the entrance. The fact that the toilet is not public is also communicated there. So I was able to go to the nearest ATM in the pouring rain so that I could carry the bill.

The place and the food was good, but the bartender told me that I must speak german because I’m in Germany, I consider that speaking in English and being an nice customer was enough. Also my friend speak german as a native I’ve tried to solve the problem but he just run away. The food can be nice, but with an horrible owner as you please anyone who read this don’t come

There is smaller seating inside, but I sat outside and was able to enjoy city life in full swing. The waiter was very friendly and the food came very quickly. The mango salad was incredibly tasty, and the soups are wonderful too. Price-wise it was really okay. I go here often!!
