We had made a reservation for nine people, but initially only received a table for six. Luckily, the next table was free, so we were able to push it together ourselves. However, there were no extra chairs – three of us had to stand for about ten minutes until, after asking several times, we finally received backless stools. We even had to get these ourselves. Part of the group arrived at 6:50 p.m., and the rest came around 7:15–7:30 p.m. During this time, we weren't asked once if we wanted anything to drink. After everyone had finally arrived, we were eventually able to order. The service was friendly, but clearly overwhelmed – some orders were misunderstood, one drink order was completely forgotten, and the food arrived at very different times. Two people didn't receive their food until the others had already finished. Furthermore, the drink I wanted to order wasn't available – nor was the dessert we would have liked to try at the end (the menu only listed two desserts). ``` We weren't asked if we wanted anything else to drink, even though many glasses were empty. Two servers sat at the bar looking at their phones instead of paying attention to the guests. The room was also very noisy due to the strong echo. At neighboring tables, it was noticeable that the food wasn't being served at the same time. In conclusion: The food was okay, but not impressive enough to compensate for the poor service. Unfortunately, it wasn't good value for money – there are much better options in Freiburg. We won't be going back.

It's perfect, I really enjoyed the veggie pho.

The worst Asian restaurant I've ever been to. If you want to savor spicy and hearty Vietnamese cuisine, this is the place for you. It doesn't even come close to what I'm used to. I asked for fish sauce and regular soy sauce, and they apparently don't use either (the taste was the realization). It would be like asking for salt in a restaurant in Germany and they don't have any. The service was poor, and we spent almost two hours in the restaurant until we got everything, including the food. So, this was our first and last time. Never again.

Disappointing. The pho soup was small, bland, barely seasoned, there was barely any garnish, barely any herbs, and there wasn't even a decent amount of seasoning at the table. And all this for €16! The service was indifferent and unfriendly. It's a shame, this place started out well and has completely declined. I won't be eating here again. Not recommended!

I've never been treated so unfriendly in a restaurant. I can only advise everyone not to visit the restaurant.

I ate here with a friend today. Spontaneously and full of expectations. I cook a lot of Vietnamese food myself and love this cuisine, with all its spices and bursts of flavor. I ordered the Pho Bo. I was really disappointed. The broth was watery with a bit of flavor. No fish sauce, no slight sweetness. The beef was tender, but with three pieces, it was rather sparing. There was a leaf of bok choy in the soup, but at least it had cilantro. The noodles were perfectly cooked. I had to pour in quite a bit of siracha sauce to get some flavor. The staff was nice, but inattentive. The ambiance is quite nice, right on Augustinerplatz. However, the tables wobble a lot due to the uneven floor. We also noticed the badly damaged dishes. All the bowls had at least two severe chips. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who knows what Vietnamese food tastes like or wants to experience it. In relative terms, €16 for a soup is pretty steep. If the broth had been made in-house over the course of hours, it would have been fine, but this was powdered broth or something similar. So the price is completely out of proportion.

I had food delivered from Banoi. The order was processed quickly and arrived within the communicated timeframe. When I opened the boxes, I was almost shocked. Instead of the 5 summer rolls per serving as shown in the picture, there were only 2. The different portion size wasn't indicated anywhere in the text. €9.75 for rice paper, some vegetables and noodles, and a bit of raw tofu. Now I paid about €20 for 2 servings, so 4 rolls, plus a ready-made hoisin sauce. In my personal opinion, this is a rip-off, and I feel deceived—a portion like that doesn't even come close to filling me up.

Second-best red curry in Freiburg, for me personally. The curry has a delicious mix of sweet and spicy, and the vegetables are very fresh. We've been there several times; when it's very busy, you have to wait a bit, but it's still reasonable.

The food was okay...but way too expensive for what it was...mid-range food. The service was friendly...it just took a long time. Bottom line: you don't need it...for that money. Frozen food is just as good...only cheaper.

Restaurant looks nice but service was ridiculous. Slow and unfriendly. At first we sat outside , waited about 15 min and then decided to go in ( the table next to us thought we were leaving entirely because they “forgot us”). Then inside 10+ minutes for someone to take the order , matcha latte stood 10 additional minutes on the bar (next to our table). Food was ok, nothing special , atmosphere was nice. The place is nicely decorated and the food had nice deco too buuuut over 30 min for a latte and spring rolls , no smile in sight, meh not worth it sorry .

We came here for dinner as a couple. Each of us had a main course for around €15. One was a bowl and the other a bun dish. My meal arrived first. My wife's came half an hour later, after I'd finished. It wasn't that great. I had a pork dish. Disappointingly, there were only three very thin strips of meat on top for the relatively high price. And unfortunately, the taste didn't blow me away; there are many better options in Freiburg. Service was very friendly, but more than enough. Too expensive. The homemade drinks were delicious.

Disastrous service. Especially with takeout. They got chicken for the second time, even though they ordered tofu. Huge disappointment when you get food and then can't eat it. I would have rather cooked than not have any food.

We've always enjoyed eating there. However, the portions are getting smaller and the meat less and less. I always had Pho, and for €16, my soup only had three pieces of beef, and the portion was also much smaller, which is a shame. A younger woman always works there, and she's very rude. We also sat there for a very long time before our food was finally served, even though there weren't many customers. It's a real shame for the price, as we always enjoyed going there.

Delicious vegan ban mi. Unfortunately, the service is very inattentive. They stand at the counter and ignore the customers. They also simply forget special requests. It's a shame, because the food is really delicious. They only provide disposable chopsticks. Drinks also only come with paper straws. How unsustainable can you be? The starter of tofu skewers with sauce costs €7 for two skewers, which is very expensive. Especially considering the amount of material used.

I'm Vietnamese myself and know what good pho tastes like, but unfortunately I have to say that I didn't particularly enjoy the food here. The ca phe sua was also completely watery, and it no longer had the strong taste of coffee. The staff wasn't very friendly either; they seemed like they didn't really enjoy their jobs. However, the offerings were nice, and the decor was nice.

Good and tasty. Very friendly service. Perfect for a relaxed evening with more or less friends. The atmosphere is pleasant. The chairs could be more comfortable, and the lighting in the restrooms could be a bit brighter.

I've been there several times for dinner. The food is really authentic and very tasty. The service has improved greatly compared to the last visit!

Delicious dishes, especially the banh mi and banh bao were excellent. The vegetarian version with jackfruit is very tasty. Stylish location that could also be in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. Very friendly and fast service. We'll be back!

What a surprise in the vaults/wall of Freiburg. The green curry with beef had a fantastic 'roasted meat' taste. Highly recommended if you make a stop in Freiburg after 6 hours of driving and don't feel like pizza or typical German dishes. Good price-quality ratio!

We were in this restaurant on August 12, 2024 and were anything but satisfied. I ordered Bun Heo, contrary to what was promised in the menu, it only consisted of a lot of noodles with some cucumber and carrot strips, plus 3 small, wafer-thin pieces of meat and a little sauce, for €13.90. Even the peanuts and fried onions that were delivered after my complaint couldn't save it. My wife ordered sweet potato curry with tofu, unfortunately there was no tofu (14.90). We won't be coming back.

We have been super comfortable. We went at a good time and they attended to us immediately. The brunette girl who served us was very friendly and had no problem speaking to us in English. The drink didn't take long, the water is expensive, but if you like tea we recommend the mango tea, it was delicious and not much more expensive than water. It's more worth it. The food was amazing!!! It was delicious. We ordered the salmon and shrimp bowl and the green coconut curry wok. This last one surprised us a lot, it was incredible. If we return to the city, we will definitely return.

The food is very good. There is a manageable menu of Vietnamese dishes with descriptions. There is also a vegan and vegetarian selection. There is also a good selection of drinks. I find the prices a bit expensive, especially for the lemonades. Otherwise it's okay for Freiburg conditions. Unfortunately, the staff's knowledge of German and English is sometimes a hindrance to ordering. We had to send food back because they brought meat instead of veggie even though we specifically asked for vegetarian food. The other time, noodles came instead of rice because they forgot to ask what a guest wanted. In general you have the feeling that you lack motivation a bit. The taste was always very good. I like going here to eat. The chairs are not very comfortable but you don't want to sit here for long anyway as it is quite loud and the drink prices are too high. It reminds me of a classic Asian night market (only clean and nice). It's great to have a quick bite to eat and go back. But don't sit and talk for a long time.

Wer vietnamesisches Essen mag, ist hier richtig. Unsere Phở bò war zwar nicht ganz authentisch abgeschmeckt, dafür standen aber viele asiatische Gewürze und Sojasaucen zum selbst nachwürzen auf dem Tisch. Super fanden wir, dass auch haugemachte, vietnamesische Getränke angeboten werden.

Ate here for the first time. Suitable for gluten-free diets. However, I have to say that the Pho tasted below average. There are some better places for this in Freiburg. The prices are very high for the portion offered. I also had quite a glutamate flush after eating. The ambience is very modern, but this first visit will also be my last.

It was very average, very slow although friendly service. 10 minutes to receive the cards, the drinks arrived quite quickly but then we waited 20 minutes for our bo bun, which arrived between lukewarm and cold.. in short nice place but I won't come back, luckily my girlfriend has a lot of discussion hahaha

Fresh, flavourful food. Quick service and every table has English and German menus. Lots of veggie and vegan options as well. Also very aromatic sugar-free hot teas. Would highly recommend.

BANÔI Streetfood - refreshingly light & authentic. The ambience is pleasant and everyone will find what they are looking for with the wide range of food on offer. A visit there is absolutely recommended! The service staff was extremely attentive and served me quickly and friendly. As soon as I ordered, my drink was served, and my food didn't take long to arrive either. The quality of the food was very good – everything tasted authentic and the portions were sufficient. I was also impressed by the price-performance ratio. A thank you to the BANÔI team!

Mi esposa y yo vinimos aquí en nuestra 4a noche en Alemania en busca de algo diferente a la comida local que habíamos estado devorando todo el viaje. Tengo que decir que desde los asientos al aire libre, casual pero súper amable servicio, a la política de mascotas y niños que tienen este lugar fue un éxito en el momento en que entramos. Cada uno tomó una cerveza Shanghai (Sai - gon no estaba disponible como quizás la única pequeña decepción que experimentamos). Compartimos un arrancador de rollo de primavera vegetal que era precioso (particularmente con el sarachi que está en la mesa). Yo tenía los fideos de pato crujientes, el pato era increíble, los fideos un poco simples y sobre fritos pero con el Sarachi antes mencionado es un partido hecho en el cielo. Mi esposa fue por el hermoso curry de ternera. El curry era tan sabroso, la carne de res un poco demasiado cocinada para mí, pero a ella le encantó. Si tuviéramos más tiempo en Friburgo sin duda volveríamos a este lugar.

Unfortunately the service was very unfriendly and not very hospitable. We weren't allowed to sit outside - unless we placed our orders at the counter ourselves and took care of the drinks ourselves. When the food was brought to the table in cardboard boxes, I was a bit stunned. The “good” Banoi at its worst. A pity.

Food was very good, unfortunately metal wires were found in the starter - I think given the prices, it's not appropriate at all. Waiting is a must, we had to wait about 60 minutes for the main course. The service leaves a lot to be desired.

The place looks awesome but the food feels a bit flat for me and my friends, it was lacking umami and for currys that’s sad…however, I had a nice plate with salmon, and the waiter (only one spoke English) was unavailable nice and helpful, kudos to you! The last point is that the place inside is quite noisy, so be aware :)

The only negative point would be if you sit at the gate at the back and people from the adjacent hairdresser/shop constantly want to go through the door because it is the only exit...

We had reserved a table. The restaurant was well filled. It took 20 minutes for anyone to come to take the order. After another 20 minutes the drinks came. We had two cocktails that were very similar. The waiter no longer knew which glass contained which cocktail. They tasted good but were so similar that they could have been the same thing twice. The mixed starter was ok. An hour had passed by the time she came. A small pilsner in between took 15 minutes, even though there was significantly less going on at the time. Main course came after about 90 minutes. A rice noodle dish and a mango curry: both extremely delicious. Conclusion: food recommended. Service underground. There were no friendly words or apologies from the waiters about the waiting times.

Great terrace, fast service, good food in large portions and acceptable prices! We ate the dumplings, the mango salad, the flat rice noodles with shrimp and once with beef, and the coconut curry. I wouldn't really recommend the Bahn Brötchen. Suggestion for improvement: the vegetables in the curry had been cooked a little too long and were therefore too soft. And more shrimp in the flat rice noodles would be appropriate👍🏼

Very tasty 😋. But we experienced a strange event. We don't eat as much as the portions are, so we asked if we could take it with us. The waitress simply gave us two containers so we could pack it ourselves. It was a very strange situation, as if people didn't want to take their food with them. It wasn't easy when packing and some food fell on the table. I found it a very embarrassing situation.

Good Vietnamese cuisine. Young, friendly team. It's very beautiful outside in summer. In my opinion, it's not so comfortable inside: bad chairs and a basement atmosphere.

We were served by a young woman who was not at all Vietnamese but very smiling, who made an effort to speak to us in French. There are cards in English for those who are stuck in German This basement restaurant is surprising & the decor catches your eye, makes you want to discover more. It's refined Vietnamese, rather modern with the large counter/bar. I regret that the bo bun is without pieces of spring rolls. Despite that, decent portion, good.

According to the waiter, many of the dishes on the menu were no longer available, and as a group we had to wait around 1:30 - 2:00 hours for our food. Unfortunately I didn't have a good experience.

The beef noodle soup had no taste. Chilli was requested, but it didn't come. Asked again after 10 minutes. It didn't come again. Then a young gentleman came and explained that there was no chilli in the kitchen today. Disappointing. Well, what can you say? I won't eat there again.

Small selection of vegan dishes, very tasty! Unfortunately the prices are a bit high. The staff was a bit overwhelmed, we had to ask for the bill several times and it was cleared away quickly, so you get the impression that they are trying to make room for the next person. Nevertheless, I will eat out again, even if not because of the high prices.

Und nochmal Vietnamesisch. Lecker und gut isst man im Mai‘s. An der Atmosphäre kann noch gearbeitet werden . Daher der Punkt Abzug. Trotzdem ist das Mai‘s zu empfehlen.

You ever wanted to pay 14€ for a noodle dish that could have been made by à 18-years old student ? Noodles with not enough sauce, no taste, almost no veggies and few tofu. Don't order Honestly, is stealing legal here ? Furthermore, the tiny tap water (2 glass) was 4€, what a joke ! The other dishes were just okay but mostly flavourless.

The restaurant is in the basement, but the ambience was still original Pho soup was good and beef was tender, but the portion was too small for my partner Dim sum (or dumplings) had very strange fillings and were not tasty (especially very soggy). The dough was also floury. Not recommendable

I had the yellow curry with chicken. It actually tasted pretty good but the eggplant was a bit burnt and that burnt taste permeated the whole curry. The waiting time was generally very long. The food came far apart so we couldn't start eating together.

Delicious Vietnamese food. The starters are quite large and not very expensive either, good value for money. Some delicious dishes that you can't get everywhere, such as baos, are available here. Vietnamese coffee is also available and tastes delicious. There is also a vegetarian option for almost every dish. Will come again!

This restaurant is fully recommended. The cuisine impresses with authentic taste and an excellent price-performance ratio. The special atmosphere, nestled next to a hairdressing salon in a shop, gives the place a unique touch. The extremely friendly staff ensures that you always feel welcome. I can really recommend it to everyone.

The food is okay but nothing special. Unfortunately the service is very poor and slow. If you're there for lunch during the week, you want to be served within 15 minutes. People were also waiting for the waiters at other tables. Old dishes are piled up at the bar.

Depending on which entrance you use (either the Shop Lust auf gut or the entrance to the restaurant) you can find the restaurant more quickly. The premises to the shop are fluid. The ambience is a matter of taste. Clear menu at just acceptable prices in relation to the quality. Friendly staff.

Vegane Dumplings mit Tofu 13/10 Edamame 11/10 Mango Blacktea 9/10 Lychee Coco Limonade 15/10 Jackfruit Sandwich 3/10 Mango Kokos Curry 11/10 Die Currys sind hier zu gut! Eine Empfehlung sind definitiv die Dumplings! Der Service war phänomenal, unglaublich nett und das Essen kam sehr schnell.

Als Vietnamese kann ich das Restaurant sehr gerne empfehlen. Schmeckt klasse wie zu Hause bei Mama. Und dann noch wirklich eine liebevolle und schöne Ambiente.

Das Restaurant Banoi liegt praktisch in der Freiburger Innenstadt am Augustinerplatz. Das Restaurant selbst bietet einen großen Außenbereich sowie einen schönen offenen Innenbereich im Untergeschoss. Durch die tolle Einrichtung und die hohe Decke sowie den interessanten Schnitt des Raumes ist das Ambiente hier sehr schön. Das Restaurant verfügt über eine sehr große Anzahl an Sitzplätzen, so dass man in der Regel sehr schnell bzw. mit einer kurzen Wartezeit einen Tisch bekommt. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Die Auswahl an veganem Essen ist soweit gut, es ist von fast jeder Kategorie etwas dabei. Schade war für mich persönlich nur, dass laut Karte vor Ort bei den Currys nur das Süßkartoffelcurry vegan war. Geschmacklich waren die Gerichte lecker und auch die Wartezeit war in Ordnung. Ein Kumpel und ich hatten spontan Hunger auf etwas asiatisches und uns ist dieser Vietnamese aufgefallen. Wir hatten uns im Außenbereich gesetzt und wurden freundlich begrüßt. Das Ambiente wirkte nett und angenehm jedoch war der Tisch ein wenig wackelig und ließ sich drehen (??) Doch das hielt uns nicht auf und ich habe mir einen Eistee bestellt (ich meine black tea irgendwas), einen glasnudelsalat mit hähnchen und ein gelbes curry mit hähnchen. Mein Kumpel entschied sich für eine Bowl mit Fleisch (weiß nicht welche). Der Eistee kam nach wenigen Minuten an und war sehr lecker. Auch das Essen kam sehr bald an. Der Glasnudelsalat war frisch und gute und frische Zutaten, mit knackigem Salat jedoch geschmacklich nicht mein Favorit. Dafür beeindruckte mich das gelbe Curry mit hähnchen, die Soße hatte einen sehr köstlichen und vollen Geschmack, welcher perfekt mit dem Gemüse, Hähnchen und Reis harmoniert hat. Auch die Bowl war extremst lecker, allerdings war mein absoluter Favorit das gelbe Curry. Außerdem wurde das Essen in sehr stilvollen Schalen serviert. Zusammenfassung: Eistee (... black Tea) 8/10 Glasnudelsalat mit Hähnchen 7/10 Gelbes Curry mit Hähnchen 11/10 Bowl 10/10 Ambiente kann ich leider nur anhand des Außenbereiches bewerten.

Immer wieder gut !!! Unbedingt reservieren.

Was ein unterirdisches Erlebnis. Vielleicht haben wir einen schlechten Tag erwischt. Aber einen weiteren Versuch wird es auch nicht geben. Die abgeschlossenen Toilette vor der man wie Depp steht und auf den Schlüssel wartet ist noch der lustigste Teil des Abends. Den lausigsten Tisch den man bekommt wenn man vorher reserviert kann man auch noch verkraften. Aber wenn man ewig wartet bis man bestellen kann und dann erfährt das es zur Primetime quasi nichts gibt von dem was man auswählt hat hört der Spaß auf. Wir haben uns darauf hin entschieden ein anderes Lokal zu suchen. Essen und Trinken kann daher nicht bewertet werden. Mein Fazit. Eher eine Imbissbude mit zu vielen Sitzplätzen für die eigenen Möglichkeiten.

Gute Auswahl an Gerichten - nettes Ambiente und aufmerksame, freundliche Bedienung. Das Mango Curry war sehr gut, die Sommerrollen gut und die vegetarische Suppe war ok.

Leider haben wir über 1 Stunde auf unsere Getränke gewartet und knapp eine weitere, bis unser Essen da war. Auf Nachfrage reagierte das Personal abweisend. Das Essen an sich war aber lecker.

Das Essen ist wirklich super lecker, aber Reis/Nudeln sind zum Teil etwas übertrieben portioniert und die Beilagen überschaubar Service ist freundlich, es dauert aber etwas, wenn man nochmal nachbestellen möchte Man sitzt draußen auf der Terrasse zentral und schön, aber der Boden ist sehr schmutzig. Das ist für uns relevant, da wir mit Hund dort waren Drinnen finde ich die Räumlichkeiten etwas dunkel und hellhörig

Ich habe Bowl vegan mit Tofu bestellt. Es sah toll aus, war jedoch zerkocht und alles ziemlich nach Fischsoße geschmeckt. Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam.. Die Ambiente gemütlich. Vielleicht schmecken die anderen Gerichte besser. Wenn ich wieder mal in Freiburg bin, kann ich es testen... nach den vielen guten Rezensionen war ich etwas enttäuscht...

Waren zwei Tage in Freiburg und haben beide abende im Banôi gegessen. Uns hat es sehr geschmeckt und würden jeder Zeit wieder dort essen. Preis ist niedrig, essen sehr gut und heiss und der Sevice super!

Must visit! I was so impressed with the food here. The flavours are amazing and the portion sizes are very generous. The outdoor patio is also very nice. Depending on how busy it is it can take a while to get your food, but it is absolutely worth the wait!

Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut. Auch der Eistee und die selbstgemachte Limonade waren sehr lecker. Leider hat es sehr lange gedauert, bis die Getränke und die Vorspeisen kamen. Eine Vorspeise wurde vergessen und kam erst mit den Hauptgerichten. Hat dem Abend leider einen kleinen Dämpfer verpasst.
