Super great brewery with very friendly and attentive service. Great and authentic atmosphere. Rustic and delicious food.

Very nice pub in the center of Cologne, although it was very crowded we didn't have to wait an excessive amount of time before we were assigned a table next to a very friendly German couple. The food was very good, my girlfriend and I took the house mushroom soup and shared a plate of meat. The beer was also good (although I preferred other breweries for this). The sore point was the service, or rather, a waiter frustrated by life in his 50s-60s who treated me and my girlfriend in a very rude way just because we were foreigners and Italians. Jokes in German addressed to us in the direction of the other local tables, rude manners, the only words in English when at the time of the bill he had the nerve to ask us for a tip. The only thing he would have deserved was to wait for him outside the club when it closed but we Italians are gentlemen and, with a smile, we even left a few euros extra. In summary: good food, good beer and nice place but if you are Italian don't go there!

We went as part of a tour and sat in a big crowded beerhall type room at the back. I like the authentic decor. Bookings required at night as it's super busy. The set meal was average but the beers kept flowing. You need on-point service because they come in 7oz glasses so you polish them off pretty quickly!

This is exactly what I expected from this place, a typical German brasserie, with an all-wood decor with stained glass windows, their own beer. Fast, courteous and efficient service. I really enjoyed the dish (1st photo number 54 on the potato pig menu) which had a typically German taste.

The place was full and that's why it took them a while to serve the dishes. The staff very friendly and happy. I would recommend it, if you want to eat something typical of Cologne.

Our experience at Peters Brauhaus was definitely positive! There were three of us, including a little girl, and we felt welcomed into a warm and authentic environment, which perfectly reflects the spirit of traditional German beer halls. Food: The quality of the dishes was excellent. Each course was carefully prepared, with authentic flavors that satisfied all palates, including that of the youngest of the group. Portions were generous and the menu offered a good variety of options. Service: The staff were truly superb. Always smiling and available, they made us feel at ease, even paying attention to the little girl's needs. The service was quick and efficient, even though the place was full. Environment: The atmosphere is one of the strong points of Peters Brauhaus. The environment is traditional, welcoming and well cared for, with details that recall the culture and history of the region. Perfect for both families and those looking for a typical German beer hall experience. An excellent choice for those who want to eat well, enjoy impeccable service and immerse themselves in a unique atmosphere. Highly recommended for families and groups!

Decent traditional food, arrived quickly, nice beer (to stop refills put the coaster on top of your glass). Waiter full of banter, we enjoyed it but can see how it might not be so enjoyable for some people.

Great food. It was odd that they made folks stand in a long line outside even when there were tables available inside.aybe some sort of crowd control. On a Saturday, We waited about 20 mins in line outside then waited another 20 mins for the food. So be prepared for the wait. The food was good - usual brauhouse quality you can expect. The great part was it wasn't too loud inside. Some brauhouses get so loud, noisy and boisterous after 7:30 am it's impossible to have a normal conversation. This was a great place for a meal and we were with 2 kids.

A traditional brewery just a few minutes'walk from the cathedral. Beautiful Art Nouveau decor.Delicious Kölsh beer.We tried mouthwatering dishes such as Pork knuckles with sauerkraut, schnitzel and pork leg with mushrooms. Don't miss the desserts, especially the apfelstrudel. The only drawback is that, apparently, customers don't have free access to the toilets because there is a man at the entrance who expects to receive a donation.

Lovely place to try Kolsch. The staff were really friendly and a good laugh.

Good food but not so good service. The waiter was angry because we did not order very very organized way with 4 toddlers!? But the service gets beter after the first round of order. The location is good and the atmosphere is nice until the tables are completely full. Then, it becomes very noisy. But this is also part of the experience because the others options are the same. Also don’t forget to make a reservation.

The visit just before Christmas was ok. The atmosphere was good. It was nice that it wasn't so loud. The waiter was impatient, unfriendly and snippy. The fried potatoes were not good, the schnitzel was good. The Kölsch was very good.

Very cozy and delicious local food in a typical Brauhaus. You feel welcome and quickly have nice contact with local guests. And just tasty local dishes with of course a Kölsch, or several :). Service is informal but pleasant and neat. Book on time, you will definitely have a spot.

We got to the entrance around 11:30 am. Only after we made ourselves known were we met at the door. After we were asked if we wanted to eat, we were able to sit at a table for two. The restaurant was almost empty. We were made aware that the kitchen would only be open from 12 p.m. So far everything is good. However, when we saw the prices and the selection, we decided to just have a drink. We were then treated so stupidly by the waitress that we left the restaurant as quickly as possible. This brewery will no longer see me. There are better and friendlier places where I can spend my money.

Food was amazing!!!!!! The potato bacon soup was so good. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow. Our food did come fast, but our waitress was often nowhere to be found. It took us longer to wait for our check than to order food and eat our food. As we were leaving around 19:00, the restaurant had a long line out the front door. It seems like a very popular spot

All in all a great evening! We were guests here with friends. Food was great, service and ambience were great! Clear recommendation.

Not the review-type-of-guy, but this time needed to post. Extreme rude gentleman at the entrance. Conversation went like this: Hello. - Hello. A table for two? Food or drinks? - Uh. At least drinks. Maybe food. ‘Maybe’ we don’t have. - So you just want us if we order food for sure as well? - You drink, when you’re hungry you order. Goodbye sir. It’s all about kindness. Don’t recommend this place at all.

After being seated at the table, it takes 16 minutes until the first contact with the waiter, and after 56 minutes the second Kölsch! Food arrived 55 minutes after ordering, something I haven't seen in the brewery in Cologne for years, hopefully it's due to the Advent season!

The atmosphere is good. The beer is tasty and the food were also very good. During lunch (monday to friday 12-16) they have small schnitzel for 10 euros and it was really good, small but tasty. They only have one beer but it was really good. The atmosphere is also very good and the staff is very nice. The only negative thing is the toilet is not free which i find weird in a restaurant.

Queue to get in although so many tables available. Only drinking so waited a long time just to be told its standing only, when they could have said that before and we didn't have to wait so long. Took ages to catch someone's attention to get a beer. Slow service. Toilets need redecorating.

The worst experience of my entire life.. we were seated and then made to wait 1 hour to tell us that the kitchen is closed. Then we wait 40 minutes to receive the bill for 2 glasses.. all this in a nauseating atmosphere where no one deigns to speak to us. I totally advise against it for French people and other tourists.

Consistently good post-COVID. Great pub food, cold Kolsch, experienced waiters. Nice to be back.

The two of us entered the brewery on Thursday evening at 10:20 p.m. We were greeted with “the kitchen is closed”. When we commented that we only wanted to eat half a rooster, we were offered a table. When another Köbes offered us a Kölsch after another 8 minutes, we asked again for half a tap. Köbes shook his head. “The kitchen is closed.” I will never enter this brewery again

VERY RUDE WAITERS! Came here for a beer and was waiting to be seated for 5 mins with no acknowledgment from several waiters. We got several beers and we didn’t have any cash so needed to pay with card. They refused and verbally attacked us in German that we need to carry cash and the total was too small to charge the card. They were speaking poorly of us to the German patrons next to us. They didn’t have any cash only signs. They reluctantly allowed us to pay with card and made snide comments as we paid.

Very good food but unpleasant experience at the end because the dishonest waiter added drinks to the bill.

Greetings from Australia! The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the dish on the photo (forgot the name) and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I like how the beer comes in 200ml servings, as it keeps the beer fresh and tasty. Different but nice. The porknuckle was very good as well, very large, it was quite fatty but still very good. Pricing was better than competitors around the corner, and better food quality as well. There was a small waiting time, but got seated without a hassle. All in all 10/10

Careful if you need to drive! they keep bringing more beer even when you're not finished. (Not so great when you need to drive and already said no) friendly staff and delicious food.

Unfortunately the service was very unfriendly and arrogant. As if the customers were to blame for his uneducated incompetence. Not recommended! In every other brewery in Cologne you will receive friendly service, no guest needs Peters service.

I wanted to have a local dish. Therefore ordered the Peters beer beef in a spicy, dark Peters Kölsch sauce. It was really delicious. The portion was quite large. I loved the fresh red cabbage, it had cinnamon apple notes. However the service was slow. I waited about an hour to get my food. And I was asked four - five times what my order was. And the neighboring tables' orders were also delayed. Maybe it was just a bad day for the person who was waiting on us, I don't know... The atmosphere was lovely. It felt local and friendly. I liked the trays that they carried the Kölsch and also how they immediately gave a refill once the glass was empty. Overall it was a good experience, I would recommend

Going out in Köln is extremely difficult and you are sure to feel unwelcome, but Peters is the best brauhaus I have experienced yet. The venue is pretty and our food was very good. Nice beer of course. Service experience is mixed. We eventually had a nice dynamic with our server but it took a lot of effort on our side.

Enjoyed my dinner, and the kolsch - atrocious service though. For a while I thought the older waiter was ignoring me as a female, English speaking tourist. But eventually I came to realise he was serving all his section with the lack of effort he gave to us. The other waiters were zipping around, and there's me asking 3 times for another beer. I hope you will be luckier than me!

Despite the older waiter trying to be friendly with us as we didn't speak German, he deliberately added several drinks to the bill. After recalculating, we came back and he refunded us without an apology because he must have been ashamed but unfortunately used to this with tourists, it ruins the experience even though the food was very good.

What a fun dining experience. Food was really good and our server Lise was great. But the beer in the tiny glasses kept coming and coming. If your in a rush don't eat here. Come for the experience and the vibe. It's awesome.

Had dinner here with a couple of friends. Loud, busy, boisterous and just the best atmosphere with a fun group of people. You will overeat - be prepared to roll out of there! Everything was delicious. Large portions. The appetizers (pictured) + endless Kölsch + Dessert was every bit delicious.

Typical german food, you can imagine already what you will find inside. Its quality is average i’d say. Worth to mention, there were a lot of tourists inside, not that much locals.

I can't understand some of the negative reviews about the service. I have visited the inn several times and have always been extremely satisfied. The Kölsch is excellent, the food was great! There is also a lunch menu with inexpensive dishes. Köbisse everyone is on their toes and ready, especially my favorite person Riccardo 😊 Due to the central location, it can of course get crowded at times, but you can usually still find a seat. People who just walk in and sit down without waiting at the entrance understandably have a difficult time with the staff 😊

Very nice restaurant but very busy with tourists, staff very friendly and helpful

I really wanted to like this place. The staff was so aggressive. Our waiter in particular shouted our order back at us and when we asked for ice he shouted “No!” Like we had just offended his mother, then repeated “No ice!” shouting again and walked away. At first we thought it was cultural but when the two tables next to us filled with German people, the shouting was no longer there and his tone was much softer. Then came the food… if at least that was good! The sauerkraut sausage soup was so salty it made it unfit for human consumption. The savoy cabbage had a strange metallic taste. The pork was again too salty. The fried potatoes were good. Would not come back and would not recommend.

There were six of us in the brewery. 4 food wasn't that good. The Rösti was partially burnt and poorly prepared. The mashed potatoes were out of the package and tasteless. The shaschuka consisted almost entirely of tomatoes and was overpriced for the price. The dish “herring fillet with potatoes” with just 1 herring as well. More of a “check-in” than a social evening.

The Kölsch, food and ambience were very good. Unfortunately, the service didn't make us feel at home. Not a real Köbess with his Rhenish mentality, but an extremely inattentive and unfriendly waiter. It's a shame that the service doesn't match the high standard of the food and ambience. I hope this important facet is improved in the future because the fundamentals are definitely there.

The guy seating asked me if I was eating or drinking, I said probably both, he said he hoped so!!! Other than that the waitress was lovely

Spontaneously got a place for 3 people. Service was great. Food really tasty. Price for Cologne is completely ok. We'll be back

Hello, we Cologne residents were at the wrong film yesterday. First of all, this absolutely unfriendly usher who left you standing there made us stupid. Then after half an eternity we got a table.....yes and sat there...again how stupid.....finally a Köbes came and took the order.....yes and sat again we're stupid. Köbes walked past us with an empty wreath x times. The whole thing took 30 minutes. Then I lost my temper and we went to Zims. Everything worked then. Really now, you can do better. Oh, the usher also yelled at us badly. Doesn't work at all.

Great food, best Kölsch there is

Typical german brauhaus with a really nice atmosphere. Staff tends to focus a bit too much on efficiency but offer great service anyway. Food portions are huge and tasty.

Authentic brewery, nothing more and nothing less. Prices for the dishes are already high. After waiting (about 10 minutes) we got a table without a reservation (on a Monday), so reserving in advance probably doesn't hurt.

The first time I ate Schwein Hakse when I came to Germany,,, There were no seats so we shared a table, which was also great because we were able to enjoy the atmosphere of the trip. The taste of the clean beer was good (so I drank 6 glasses by myself), and above all, the taste of Hakse… It's crazy. It seems like each of us didn't talk while eating and just focused on the food. I was a little worried after seeing reviews saying the staff was unfriendly, but when we went, we were able to have a great time thanks to the very friendly servers!

Rustic, typical Cologne brewery restaurant with hearty food and Kölsch replenishment “non-stop”. Admittedly, the small, sweet beers are unusual (for someone who doesn't come from Cologne) and that you keep getting new glasses (unless you put a lid on the old glass), but somehow I found that unusually good. The food was also delicious, I had a pork knuckle with fried potatoes and savoy cabbage. There was nothing to complain about here. The price is completely okay, although not cheap. The staff and the waiter were traditional Kölsch and always had a saying on their lips. That's how it has to be, after all, life is serious enough. We and I really enjoyed our stay in the group.

Very nice place! Very very delicious. They put 2 couples at one big table (they don’t really have tables for 2 people), so if you are not comfortable to sit with strangers, keep it in mind. We didn’t mind and enjoyed conversations!

We went on recommendation. They have little staff, it took them a long time to take the order and also to serve the dishes despite not being very busy, many free seats during the week. The knuckle was dry and very charred. Check the account because they charge more than what it is. Tip? There are other better Brahauses.

Very unfriendly staff! Everything was very rushed and everyone was in a bad mood. I'll never come back here. Other breweries in Cologne are far friendlier and more pleasant. We wanted to give a song, but we weren't allowed to. That doesn’t fit with the brewery culture in Cologne…

Unfriendly, annoyed waiter. Bad food. It is warmed up in the microwave and then dried. The Maultaschen were dry and tough. There was a skin drawn over the cheese sauce. What was tasty was the Kölch.

If you want friendly staffs and great food and great beer, this is the restaurant you want to go.

The perfect place to end a wonderful if wet day in the city. Such good humoured service from our koebes. Brilliant Kolsch, delicious Schintzel salad and potatoes and a mushroom soup, and amazing company on our table from such friendly visitors from Bonn. Above all else incredible value and history makes Peter's brauhaus an essential part of any itinerary here

The servers perhaps lack a bit of good humor and smiles. Although the welcome is not the warmest, the service is fast and very efficient. The magnificent facade of the building is elegant and opulent. The interior decoration is authentic, particularly the woodwork and the imposing colored stained glass ceiling. This place has a real soul and you feel very good there. The cuisine did not disappoint us. The dishes are simple and traditional but very well cooked, well seasoned, and they have great taste! We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and generosity of the lunch dishes served at lunchtime from Monday to Friday for only 9.9 euros!

Because the food at Früh am dom gets worse every year and the whole thing becomes more and more commercial, this time I took a chance yesterday and opted for this restaurant. Good food, the schweinemedallions are really delicious with Hollandaise sauce, nice friendly service, a good choice, Peters Brauhaus, great. 👍🏻 (Really much better than Früh, we will definitely not go there again). The food was good and so was the beer, the service was the worst I have found in years. Very slow and very bad attitude from the waitress. In the end I asked to pay by card and he gave me a very bad face. I do not recommend the visit. I do not rate the service.

We arrived and waited at the sign to be seated as directed. We were waiting a good 2-3 minutes with staff walking past us, no one initially acknowledging we were there and then when they did told us to wait and someone would seat us even though there was plenty of empty tables. A German party walked in and waited behind us and when they walked past us to have a look we’re seated straight away. We were disappointed as it was recommended to visit.

These guys will rob you blind, especially if you are women travellers. Our waiter was a nightmare. After several rudes actions, including telling us we couldn't have water because they had sold out, he refused to bring our ticket to pay. When I finally asked another waiter for the bill, he said he would come soon. Then they shared a hearty laugh and our waiter emerged saying he couldn't print out our ticket but had calculated the charges. I argued that this was dishonest. Having no other option and being held hostage by the hostile waiter, I finally paid the bill. He ran after us as we walked out of the door and shoved the ticket at me. When I read the ticket, he had charged up for 4 beers we didn't order and had given a tip to himself of 20euros! Absolute thieves. Stay away from this tourist trap!

To flee. We were four women traveling together who stopped for dinner, but we were targeted as tourists, women, or perhaps both. Our server charged us for drinks we didn't consume and ignored our requests to get the bill. When he finally told us the amount, I found it too high, but he refused to show me the details of the bill. As we were leaving the place, he chased us down to give me the bill (I guess this is a legal requirement in Germany?). Looking at it, I discovered that he had tipped himself €15.70 and had also charged us €9.20 for beers we hadn't ordered. Ashamed. On the other hand, we had an excellent experience (meal and exceptional service) at Brauhaus Sion not far from this restaurant.

The Petersbrauhaus is located directly between the Alter Markt and the Rhine and is typically equipped for a brewery. As always, the food is delicious and the price is completely reasonable. Unfortunately, due to its location, it is often overcrowded with tourists and correspondingly noisy, and you may have to wait longer for seats if you don't have a reservation.

Very characteristic place with good food and service.

What a great spot for lunch! If you can get a table the potato soup is a must. That staff were super friendly and were cracking jokes with us. I’m so glad my coworker told us about it.

Local food, it was served promptly, good portion for the price. Shortly understaffed. Unfortunately when it comes to paying the bill, the waitress told us directly we have to leave a tip even tho service is non existent. We ended paying 13% more on top of the bill for tips as she loudly tapped the card machine on the table. Unpleasant meal experience.

The most atmospheric restaurant in Cologne. We were greeted so comfortably and warmly. The knuckle was amazing, melted in your mouth. It's a pity none of us took a photo, we were so hungry. It was very tasty.

My highly recommended restaurant. The knuckle was delicious (no. 36) and the portions were very generous. Very attentive waiters and although we didn't have a reservation, we queued and it didn't take long to give us a table.

Good cuisine with rustic dishes. Very malty Kölsch. Friendly service... but the Kölsch frequency was significantly behind plan because there were no supplies. 😉
