The food was excellent, the waitress a bit unfriendly

The food was very good. Unfortunately, there were a few things that, individually, would fall into the category of "it happens," but together they made our visit less than we had hoped. It was Sunday lunchtime and the place was slowly filling up, but the service seemed a bit hectic and chaotic from the start. Oh well, that's how it is in breweries. Unfortunately, the atmosphere didn't improve. - After the first round of drinks, we had to wait a while and actively seek attention to order another Kölsch and food, as orders were taken more quickly at neighboring tables that were seated after us. We're used to Kölsch refills being a bit faster and more automated in breweries. - When a round of drinks was served from a tray, a glass of cola fell and broke. The contents spilled onto the table and onto us, and not just a few drops—two or three of us actually had larger stains on our sleeves, pants, and shoes. This can happen – but if it does, it could be handled better. She apologized immediately and promptly brought a roll of paper towels and offered the three Kölsch beers she had just brought on the house – a nice gesture for the three people for whom it was intended, but it didn't help the others (who received most of it). We received a damp cloth because the table and chairs were sticky, and a new side salad, which had already been brought and was soaked in cola, only after we asked. This could, and perhaps should, have been offered proactively. She took some of the used paper towels with her, but since we hadn't finished wiping everything and ourselves dry, several paper towels and a larger shard of glass remained at the end of the table until the end of our visit and even during the meal. - When the food was served, we were informed that one dish was sold out – which isn't a big deal in itself, but it was inconvenient that the person had to choose something new when everyone else already had their plates in front of them. The fact that it was sold out apparently went unnoticed beforehand, because she was still able to book it and received no confirmation from the kitchen. - The sweet potato cubes were missing from the bowl, but they were quickly brought in a separate bowl. It's a minor detail and not a big problem, but it does round things off nicely. It's great that bowls exist; that's a huge plus, especially for larger groups with different tastes.

In the chosen dish, I would have preferred slightly fewer potatoes and more beans.

Food was delicious and the staff were super kind. I wish I could rank the service higher than a 5 star, because they were awesome. I ordered a dish that I didn't realize contained nuts. When it arrived to the table I told them about my allergry and they immediatly swapped it out with another dish. And they made sure there was no cross contamination. The fault is on me, haha, I should've asked for the allergen menu. I'm giving the food 4 stars, not because of the dish itself, but the price. I ate the same dish that I ordered at another restaurant in Köln, the Sauerbraten. It was absolutley delicious. Much better than other Sauerbratens I've had, especially the red cabbage. But the portion was quite small compared to other places, and yet the price was slightly higher. I guess thats the price you pay for quality. Overall it was wonderful. And the location is perfect. Just a few minutes walk from the Cathedral and central station. Beer : I don't remember what I ordered, but it's Germany, so it's all good!

A cozy, traditional brewery in the heart of Cologne. They serve hearty Rhineland cuisine and delicious Kölsch beer. The waitresses and waiters are cheerful and efficient. Unfortunately, our reservation couldn't be found even though I had booked a table by email and online. However, a table was eventually found for us. Highly recommended restaurant.

Liver worst, goulash and traditional German meal with sausage and sourkraut was divine. Our waiter was friendly and funny and kept the beers coming. The beer was also excellent!

We had a wonderful evening there. The food was delicious! A special thank you to Ricardo for the excellent service. A meeting place for all nations, in a fantastic, rustic atmosphere.

Welcoming atmosphere with a less than 10min wait around 1930 on a Monday evening. Service was ok but had an odd interaction with one waiter who seemed to refuse to get me a custard with my apple strudel even though I ordered it along with the ice cream and whipped cream, thought he was joking at first but it did not come. After 10mins managed to get the attention of our main waiter who realised it was missing and got it right away. But not a reason to not give 5 stars as food was very nice with generous portions. Had the halve Hahn for starters, beef with raisin sauce and dumplings and turkey for mains, apple strudel and windbeute for dessert. Very nice decor. Definitely recommend.

Real Germen beer made on the premises, very nice! Food was amazing and a lot! Waiters had good banter, with no language barrier! Definitely worth a visit, more than once!

The restaurant was fine; the server excellent; the food good. What ruined our experience was the extremely rude Maitre D. All we asked very politely was if we could have a table away from the door. He yelled at us, was hostile to our request and made us feel that we were stupid for having asked the question. His nasty attitude ruined our experience. On the other hand, the next night, we went to the Brauhaus Sion, where the staff was wonderful and cheerful. I can’t recommend Peter’s Brauhaus because of the extremely impolite and rude Maitre D.

The smallest but very fine brewery in Cologne's old town. A wonderful confessional, friendly service, and delicious beer!

We ordered our food with beer. After 45 minutes, I went to the staff and asked what was going on. Coincidentally, our waiter arrived at that moment with a delivery bag (apparently his own lunch) and apologized that something had gone wrong.

Read about the restaurant and was recommended. Really appreciate the fast serving as we had only one hour to catch the train. Pork knuckles were so good and tasty, although the skin is not as crispy but we still love it!

A traditional restaurant, worth trying if you want to experience local food for the first time. What you should know is that German cuisine is heavy, so it depends on your taste. In one word, we liked it.

The waiter was ungrateful. When we asked for the bill, we told him to keep the change, and he told us that if we didn't leave a good tip, it was disrespectful! Bad manners. We'll never come back.

I don't know if it's a cultural difference, but it definitely doesn't feel like Korean style. Because of the pushy staff, I ended up paying my own money and being very careful. "WE DONT HAVE PORK LEG" Why do they have QR codes on the menu? I scanned the QR code and asked for the menu, but they said they didn't have any. A German beer house without a Haxen. The Asian I was forced to join was already eating a Haxen. It seems like they serve food based on mood. I ended up eating a very salty sausage. I'll go somewhere else with more friendliness.

Bustling brauhaus in a prime spot in Köln. Food is great, service and beer excellent. Great drinker’s bar to the right.

The restaurant looks to me like a german version of a good old brittish pub with it's decor, lighting and atmosphere. I found it very cosy. It can get quite busy in the evenings and weekends so it's worth considering to book in advance. The potatoes with bacon were amazing. The food is really nice. Worth a visit if you're looking to taste delicious local food.

Peters is a traditional Cologne restaurant with hearty German food and plenty of Kölsch. The atmosphere is lively and a bit noisy, but that’s part of the fun. Great for dinners with friends or colleagues. Food is tasty, beer is perfect, and service is decent.

Service was perfect. Foods were amazing. I recommend the place. One thing that caused us a payment problem. They switched to a new payment software so I couldn’t pay with card.

Waited 20 minutes to get a seat and then another 10, and no one took our order. Beer menu is pathetic!

If a waiter lets you into Peters Brauhaus so we can find a seat in the sparsely occupied dining room, as was unchallenged when asked, and then rudely plants the overlooked sign in front of the table we found to show us that we've illegitimately taken his work away from him, before assigning us another table, then at least this waiter is obviously convinced that Peters Brauhaus doesn't need customers. And an establishment that allows employees with such an attitude under its roof doesn't deserve our visit either. We left.

The food was okay, but one waiter lied to us when we paid. The meal cost €84.90, and without asking, they increased it to €90, and they didn't give us a receipt when we paid! We complained about it, and the waiter simply said, "I don't know." Be careful when paying, especially with Asians, they charged extra!

A place with an incredible atmosphere, a stunning ambiance, and very good food. Excellent for trying local food. Unfortunately, the service is terrible, or we were unlucky with the waiter we encountered—he didn't speak English at all and was super arrogant the whole time. He didn't understand what we were saying and would complain about us to other tables... regrettable.

Very good food! Everything tasted good and was well prepared. Everything seemed to be time-honored and just as you'd expect. Service was good…slow but friendly. The prices were reasonable, too. Overall, a good decision.

We visited the restaurant at 6 p.m. (a group of seven friends) for dinner and, of course, a few Kölsch beers 🍺. I would like to emphasize one very important recommendation for improvement: The service provided by the staff is a crucial area that urgently needs to be addressed. I wish the restaurant would motivate its employees to provide better customer service. Because although the food was really delicious, the service experience unfortunately disappointed me so much that I don't really want to come back. The service was very slow ⏳ (the restaurant was full, but we were very patient and understanding), but we waited at least 45 minutes for our food and an additional 20 minutes for a round of beers. The server sometimes made jokes that didn't go down well with everyone and sometimes returned from other tables in a bad mood. 💶 Things got even more complicated when paying: He refused to accept card payments because he apparently didn't fully understand the system. We were understanding and paid in cash, but he refused to split the bill, even though we explicitly requested it. Instead, we had to pay everything together. The way he refused seemed pedantic and like he simply didn't want to put in the extra effort. Sorry, but I don't go to a restaurant to be a waiter. In the end, we even discovered that we were overcharged for a few beers 🍺❌. I've visited the brewery before and had a very nice waiter—and, as always, delicious food. But after yesterday's experience, I don't think I'll be back. It feels like a kind of "Russian roulette" 🎲: either great service or a complete disaster.

We arrived as a family on a Sunday afternoon and were warmly welcomed from the doorstep. Grandma, who had a walker, was chauffeured around (the restroom was accessible), the children had their own menu, and special requests were no problem (although there were no fries, so the kids had to eat potatoes or mashed potatoes sometimes!). Our waiter, who has Italian roots (thanks Ricardo!!!), was warm, funny, accommodating, and hospitable, just as we'd hoped. We'd love to come back!

A truly Cologne brewery. Simply quaint and still charming. A typical Cologne tavern owner with a quippy joke. The food is simply delicious.

Being greeted with "You're not Annika" as a 50-year-old man is quite an experience. But let's start from the beginning. We were only able to reserve a table for larger groups by phone two weeks in advance, and we received confirmation by email. You were supposed to cancel 24 hours in advance, but they could have easily filled the table. The line outside without a reservation was long. We ended up at the tables for large groups, and conversation was almost impossible. Okay, so we'll just toast loudly—and then the whole room did too—when a round was served. Service was quick, the first three Kölsch glasses were gone, and the food was ordered. The Haxn (Hammocks) and Hämchen (small hams) are huge (Brauer-Vesper is a good alternative), the small Wiener schnitzels are really small, Flünz (a kind of "Himmel un Äd") and everything else is a dream. It's good if you have a big eater with you, so the leftovers will be gone too. You should also leave room for cream puffs, apple strudel, and beer amisu. It's better to share a main course, which was no problem. Oh yeah, and if you don't like Kölsch, you probably shouldn't go there ;-) Special requests are also treated rather poorly. The waiter described us as "very brewery-friendly," which is quite a distinction.

Unfriendly waiter. We'd already ordered drinks, and he came to our table of 15-20 people and told us we weren't allowed to play cards in a tone that wouldn't speak to guests. Unfriendly, intolerant, and expensive.

Good bratwurst, fast and efficient service, cold Kolsch. Everything was ok, nothing more, nothing less.

My friend and I had two Kölsch bottles here. The waitress was quick, bringing more beers as soon as we ran out. A 0.2 ml beer costs 2.40 euros.

Sunday afternoon, beautiful weather, everything was fine...then Riccardo arrived! And even though he's Italian (or because he is?), he perfectly captures the chef we know and love! Extremely friendly, funny, and fast service with charm. And the food is really good.

Overwhelmed staff, beer that tastes like it's already been through two carnival seasons, and an atmosphere somewhere between a tourist trap and a train station lobby – then Peters Brauhaus is the holy grail.

This is one of the best places to drink beer in central Cologne. I think they should include beef products on the menu. Their beer is quite good, and it comes in the small glass shown in the photo, which is why it's easier to serve the beer fresh and cold. As you drink, the empty glass is replaced with new ones, until you cover the top of the beer with a coaster. 😀 We were pleased to see a Turkish waiter. Vedat was very attentive and helpful. We also tried the Schnitzel, which is served with potatoes. Thank you to the business.

Nice simple lunch but noticed the staff were quite rude. An old American guy next to us gently asked if they could tell him about the beer. They said it was not beer and slammed down the drink and walked off.

Located in the center of Cologne, it's a typical pub with traditional cuisine and excellent beer. I recommend the sausage and potatoes. Great prices.

We were seated at a bar table that stank vehemently of moldy beer. Then we had to wait 10 minutes for each Kölsch… Unfortunately, not recommended.

A visit to Peters Brauhaus is highly recommended! The food was fantastic – just like Grandma's, hearty, fresh, and simply delicious. I would go back to Cologne for that alone anytime. I'd especially like to mention the waiter, Mr. Fuchs: friendly, attentive, and with typical Cologne humor. He truly deserves his tip. A truly Cologne experience – I'll definitely be back!

We had a very disappointing experience at Peters Brauhaus. Even though we had a reservation and arrived on time, we were left waiting in line, and when we asked about it, the staff responded rudely and finally gave us a table with a very bad attitude. Throughout the evening, the service was consistently unfriendly and hostile. The food itself was not terrible, but certainly not memorable either. Every time we wanted to order something additional, the staff ignored us or made unpleasant faces, which would be understandable if the restaurant had been full – but it wasn’t. When we finished our meal, the waiter asked if we were done, and after we said yes, he only cleared part of the table before walking away to serve others. Nearly 20 minutes later, we had to stand up and go ask for the bill ourselves. To make things worse, when bringing the check, the waiter insisted that the tip was mandatory, which is simply not true in Germany. After refusing, he continued to argue, suggesting that tipping is “almost obligatory” and even asked if it was our first time in a restaurant. This was completely disrespectful and unprofessional. Overall, the poor service and rude treatment ruined what could have been a nice experience. I would not recommend this place.

We had dinner at the brewery. The beer was delicious. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. All of our meals were delicious. Summary: We felt very comfortable and would gladly return – highly recommended.

Very good. We were served by a waiter who spoke Portuguese. The children ate well. The pork knuckle is not the same as in Prague.

We sat at the table for about half an hour, and no one came to even ask if we wanted a drink. The servers kept pointing to our table, but still, no one came to take our order. We had our 4-year-old with us, and after waiting for a while, we realized they probably iweren’t going to serve us. So, we decided to find another place to eat It felt like they didn’t want to serve tourists—though I’m not sure. They didn’t seem very friendly to the other people seated nearby either. Just a heads-up: there are plenty of other places nearby that are much more welcoming and serve better food. We ended up eating just 50 feet away and had a much better experience. place call Gaffel Kôlsch has better menu and good stuff. thanks to them

A nice Bavarian type beer hall with lots of seating. Food was decent. Staff was quick and friendly. Arrived on a Sunday evening as a group of four and was seated immediately. They accept card payments.

A great place to get a beer in Cologne

This was our second stop on the kolsch brewery tour, and wow, what a surprise! The beer tastes practically the same, but it's delicious (especially since we went in the summer and it was quite hot). The food is a must. The potato soup is delicious, and so is the sausage—you should order them. The prices are almost the same at all the breweries, so the average bill for three people will be around €40. Excellent service, and the interior is very pleasant.

Quite busy due to Gamescom crowd flooding in (me included) and havig to wait a bit before there was spacd, but always a pleasure to come here: great beer and amazing fresh good which soothes the soul. I had the Schlachtplatte; mixed of ham, sausage, bloodsausage and mashed potatoes with sauerkraut.

The food is quite okay. Beer is quickly refilled. The atmosphere is like a train station concourse. You're seated at a table with strangers, even though there's enough space for four people. In return for a tip, you'll be seated as requested.

Because the food at Früh am dom is getting worse every year and the whole thing is becoming increasingly commercial, I took a chance and chose this restaurant yesterday. The food is delicious, the schweinemedallions are truly delicious with Hollandaise sauce, the service is friendly and welcoming, so Peters Brauhaus was a good choice. 👍🏻 (Much better than Früh am dom, we definitely won't be going there again). Very generous portions at a fair price-performance and quality ratio. Highly recommended! However, you should reserve a table in advance, as this nationally renowned restaurant often runs out of space at short notice. It's a bit of a shame that parking is very difficult to find here. However, the parking garages and underground garages in the immediate vicinity are excellent options.

Peters Brauhaus has a nice atmosphere and the beer itself is good, but the service left a really bad impression. As tourists, we immediately felt like we were treated differently. Locals were greeted warmly and served quickly, while we often had to wait far longer just to get basic attention. After finally managing to order drinks, it felt almost impossible to get anyone to come back to our table. The staff weren’t openly rude, but they were dismissive and uninterested, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. If you’re a German speaker, maybe you’ll have a better time here. For visitors, though, there are many other places in Cologne where you’ll be treated with more respect and hospitality.

I would give zero stars if I could. Peters Brauhaus was one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I’ve had in Cologne. From the moment we sat down, it was clear that if you weren’t a native German speaker, you were treated as second-class. We were served drinks quickly within the first few minutes, but after that, the staff completely ignored us. Despite having a German speaker in our group, as soon as they heard any English, their attitude shifted and we were left waiting. It took over 80 minutes just to get anyone’s attention, and that was only because we chased down a server to finally pay the bill—without ever getting food. What made it worse was watching how friendly and attentive they were with German-speaking tables, while foreigners were brushed off or outright shunned. The place wasn’t even busy, so there was no excuse for the rudeness and dismissive behavior. If you’re a tourist or don’t speak fluent German, I would strongly advise avoiding this place. Cologne has plenty of wonderful, welcoming spots—this is absolutely not one of them.

We had a great evening. The kölsch was quite good but sadly they don't brew it themselves (apparently they used to make beer back in the days but not anymore). Apple strudel was quite good. Highly recommend making a reservation beforehand.

Went to 8 different Brauhaus in Köln, and this one I disliked. On Saturday evening we sat down and recieved no service after 15 minutes of waiting behind a table, so we went elsewhere. Tried again on Sunday evening, this time we recieved service, but a second beer was forced on me despite me telling the waiter multiple times that I did not want another. I even put a coaster on top of the glass to show I don’t want another. And yet he placed the new beer on to the table and showed it towards me. I said no, and showed it aside. He smiled, and showed it back at me and walked away. I felt highly disrespected. I did not enjoy their kölsch beer, and I certainly did not want another f glass of it. Payment process was also slow.

I should start by saying that we ate outside under a stifling red umbrella, which not only blocked the air from bringing refreshment, but also blocked the light from the table. The food isn't bad, in fact. But the service is very sketchy, with waitresses rushing between tables (often knocking over tableware and even beers) and who don't understand much English. The price is fair, except that in our case, they gave us the wrong change due to the chaotic service. It's a shame because the beer is excellent.
