Absolutely delicious. This is a must visit in Cologne for an authentic Brauhaus experience.

Original Köbese and the best brewery

Nice restaurant, the food was good but we didn't think it was amazing. Staff was friendly. For a visit to Cologne, it's worth it.

We wanted to have a few beers with a larger group at 10:30 p.m. 1-2 even ate something (unclear whether the kitchen was still open). There were various tables available, including right next to the entrance. When I asked if we could sit down, I was told it wasn't worth it as they would be closing soon. It ended at 12:00 a.m., so another 1 1/2 hours. I noticed that, and then Köbes said “yes, soon”. Okay, so at the bar table with 7 people, no problem. But beer refills also took forever. A Köbes can be unfriendly and rude, yes. But don't be lazy and don't want customers... certainly an isolated case, but I'd still like to report it. Peter's beer is still the best Kölsch in my opinion.

A lot of money for little food, and not tasty at all. Clearly pre-made fried potatoes and ready-made sauce from the box. On top lukewarm.

Rustic locality. Have enough with a side dish for a good meal.

Typical brauhaus! Lots of local people and this brauhaus is also very popular! Service speaks German, English and some Dutch. Excellent food at fair prices and fine Kölsch! The only downside is that people thought that we as Dutch people did not know that the service is included in the price in Germany... or we wanted to pay extra... unfortunately for the waiter, it works throughout Germany just as it does in the Netherlands. So don't fall for that!

Bit quiet whilst we were there but enjoyed my visit.

It has more of a brewery feel than some other establishments, but it's also very hectic with wait times for your drink. The Shakshuka was a total failure and is more like a pepper soup with eggplant, chickpeas and egg. The seasoning wasn't suitable at all.

Of course, there is always a lot going on here, especially due to the flow of tourists, so you sometimes have to wait longer for your food. But the cheerful service makes up for it and the food is also of good quality.

Of all the breweries we visited in Cologne, this was by far the best, super friendly staff, excellent food, also the Kölsch and great ambience!

Paid by card, we felt the total was too high, requested to receive the bill, it took 20 minutes, we then told the butler, only then will the waiter bring it. We are then charged for three glasses of wine instead of two, which we pointed out. Sour faces arose.

Tried to get in on a Saturday and failed without a booking. Tried again a few days later and had great service food and beer.

A quaint brewery in downtown Cologne. Already tried Saturday evening. But it is almost impossible to get in without a reservation. Sunday afternoon around 3 no problem. I ate the Brauhaus menu. The potato soup was very, very good. The beef was tender and there was nothing to complain about in terms of taste. I was a little disappointed with the beer amisu. Tasted no trace of beer.

Otro excelente y enorme restaurante de comida alemana en el centro de Colonia. Comimos carne guisada, salchichas y ensalada de pepino, todo excelente, buena atención y correcto precio. Recomendable. Destacar también que al contrario de lo que sucede en otros locales, la mostaza que te dejan en la mesa para acompañar las carnes pica un montonazo, cuidado

I have known Peters for many years with all his strengths and weaknesses. I usually order a portion of tartare with egg, onions, brown bread, etc. with my beer. I can't really go wrong with that, you think. In the past that was always ok. But last Saturday there was no tartare, but the cheapest onion sausage dressed up as tartare. That's not okay. Think about whether that is correct.

The food was ok, as was the service. Unfortunately, there are mice running through the dining room. Next time we visit Cologne, we will avoid the Brauhaus Peters because the mice are definitely not only in the dining room but also in the kitchen

I have never eaten such a bad sauerbraten in a brewery.

Upon entering this restaurant, we were assigned a seat in the first room, next to a wall, in total darkness and suffocating heat. I immediately politely asked a waiter if it was possible to have a seat near the window or in a brighter area, and he very kindly asked me to wait a few minutes. Meanwhile, a young waitress arrived and invited us to sit. I told her that we were waiting to change tables, but she, in a very rude manner, insisted that there were no other seats and that we had to sit there. He even started setting the table. Just then the first waiter arrived, but the young waitress tried to convince him not to let us change tables. At that point, we made it clear that if they didn't change our table, we would leave, considering that in Cologne there are many other restaurants where you can eat German food. The waitress then walked away and started shouting loudly in German, creating an embarrassing situation for her colleague too. We didn't understand what he said, but we certainly didn't appreciate the behavior. Starting to eat, disturbed by the episode, I must say that not even food managed to improve our mood. The quality was mediocre, very average and nothing special. The beer was good, but in Cologne it's easy to find quality beer everywhere. Next time, if we happen to return to Cologne, we would choose another restaurant

Después de más de 10 años de haber conocido este lugar, pude regresar a probar la kölsch que es igual a como la recordaba ligera y refrescante. Los alimentos no defraudan ni en tamaño ni es sabor muy rico todo lo que comimos.

Great place to visit in Cologne. Just remember you might have to share a table if it's busy - and it usually is! Great food and Peter's Kolsch might be the best.

Didn't try the food here but it's another great kölsch to try which unlike most others can't be found in many other places. The food did look delicious.

We were there with several country women. We felt very comfortable. Food was very good, we had different dishes! The staff was very attentive and occasionally joked. We imagined the ambience to be great. You can really recommend it.

Tijdens een weekendje Keulen moét er natuurlijk een Brauhaus op het programma staan. De keuze is groot, maar we hebben gekozen voor Peter’s Brauhaus! Even buiten wachten op een tafel en dan kan de oerduitse gezelligheid beginnen. Kölsch op tafel en bestellen maar. Van de voorgerechten is de goulashsoep een echte aanrader. Wat de hoofdgerechten betreft, kan ik de hele kaart wel opnoemen. Jong en oud door elkaar. Gezellige bediening! Kortom, een aanrader !

Best crispy pork knuckle and turkey from our Germany and Europe travels! Good beer. Strudel was lovely. Received continuous service from the older gentleman waiter. Our glasses were refilled without asking. Great experience, thank you!

Everything was very good except for the reservation. Unfortunately it didn't work out because the man in charge gave us everything. Allowed to stand for 1 hour. Other guests without reservations were simply let in. We will no longer go there with our group. I don't recommend this place either.

Environment is good, when crowded you might feel a little bit overwhelmed, food is ok, hard to find non pork meal. Kölsch beer kept coming in which is nice, you dont have to chase waiter.

Incredible food at reasonable prices with a great atmosphere. Great Kolsch too. The only criticism was our first waiter took 30+ min to bring us the bill after they removed our dishes and verbally confirmed we were done (with coasters on top of the glasses to signal that as well). To be fair, it was very busy at the time and I think he forgot about us.

Great brewery, always full and only by reservation. Great food and nice company.

Unfortunately only mass operation. The food is just thrown together. Mashed potatoes from a bag, fried potatoes dripping with fat, schnitzels made from pressed meat and frozen. The service was totally overwhelmed. No longer a flagship for a Cologne brewery! No comfort. Food was too bad to be so expensive.

We stopped by the brewery in the afternoon with a group of 10 people and had reserved a table. Unfortunately the service was very bad. No Köbes mentality. We had to wait a long time for the drinks and had to say several times that we would like something to drink. The waitress reacted snidely and insulted and only ever came back with the precisely counted drinks, not with full wreaths as usual. The food came quickly and was good. The ambience is traditional, but could be cleaner. Cobwebs etc. on the top of the walls. Finally the service person came at some point and wanted to settle the bill because his shift was ending. After that, no new service staff came and we changed the brewery. Overall, unfortunately, the brewery cannot be recommended. It's a shame we always had it as a memory as the most beautiful brewery in the old town.

The Kölsch flows through because it tastes so good - the interior is reminiscent of a museum because there are so many pictures of the "old Kölle" hanging on the wall - whether Willi Millowitsch - RIP - was once in here too.. (?)

Yummy Schnitzel, not too dry as many restaurants, crispy from the outside and soft and juicy from the inside. Bratkartoffel is also yummy. Haxe is a must try in my opinion. Great vibe. Cool old interior design in the main room. 🧡😻

Always rustic, great Rhenish cuisine

Chef did not want us to play cards, because "it is tradition and no other brauhaus would allow us". Well all the other Brauhauses did allow us to play cards, and his Köbussen initially did allow us as well. It is fine if you have traditions, but then accept that you won't earn any tip or extra beers. Besides that, his Köbussen were accepting our free beer, but did not want to see him seeing them drinking the free beer. Does not seem like a fair and honest work environment to me.

The waiting times are out of this world. I waited an average of 20 minutes for a Kölsch

Awesome atmosphere, fabulous food, classic Kolsch and an amazing host (Mr Kai Fox) When in Cologne a Bauhaus is a must, so make Peters. Fantastic atmosphere, the Kolsch keeps flowing and the food is filling. Kai Fox was a great host, made us feel welcome and gave a great performance

Sauerkraut and potatoes are the best for sides. Pork knuckle is decent but I’ve had better in Nuremberg. The sauerkraut soup with bread was excellent.

We had goulash soup and potato soup and it was incredibly tasty, hearty, hot and just perfect with the beer. Our waiter, dear Revello, super nice, thank you very much ❤️

I visited the city with some friends to go to Gamescom and we decided to come here to try the authentic German food of Cologne, and it was a success. We ordered the baked knuckle, it was huge and delicious. The atmosphere was incredible and the waiters were very attentive. We will certainly repeat next time 👍

I'm really shocked. We ordered a snack board. And for €21.50 we got this small plate of hard bread and tasteless potato salad. That's quite an extortionate thing. When we asked the waitress about it, she was visibly uncomfortable, but that was it. The ambience in the outside area is zero, the waitress didn't even wipe off the dirty lacquered tablecloth when we came. So we definitely won't go there again.

I went on a trip with friends to see Gamescom and it was the best restaurant we tried in Cologne, the knuckle was exquisite and the waiter was very attentive.

Attention tourists: the restaurant added a tip of over 10% to the bill. Locals mentioned they had never seen this practice before.

Visited this restaurant on 8 Sep 2024. Food was excellent, price reasonable. Unfortunately, the employee who served us cheated us by adding extra items to the bill and fraudulently charging us an extra EUR 55. He added dishes we did not order or eat; increased the number of dishes beyond what was ordered and served, added without asking us for a tip!!! When we asked to see the bill before paying, he refused, saying instead that we needed to pay first and then we would get the bill. After paying he still refused to give us the bill and walked away. By far the most ridiculously fraudulent behaviour I have experienced in any restaurant anywhere in the world!

If you like a rustic brewery atmosphere, you've come to the right place. The food is absolutely great. The Kölsch is the best I know. You have to compromise on service and ambience. It's very big. The waiters are at their limit. So patience is required.

We ordered The pork knuckles with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. The pork knuckles had a lot of fats which we don’t usually eat but the taste is still good. The portion is huge so go in a group and share. They also serve their traditional Kölsch beer in a mini glass.

Good quality but expensive. The doorman should be more polite and not yelling just because we didn't saw the small sign that says to wait.

Avoid this place at all costs!! (Ich schreibe diese Bewertung auf Englisch, um die Touristen zu warnen) Extremely unfriendly staff that treat their guests as trash. With the place almost empty, the staff made us feel we were lucky we were even allowed in. We weren’t even given a choice in drink, but were given beer directly. When the food we ordered was wrong upon delivery. We alerted the staff and they fixed it. Yet, when we had to pay they still billed the wrong, more expensive dish. Telling them about it only resulted in an angry response. With the room almost empty, everything was rushed. We left as soon as we could and will definitely not return.

Had the pork knuckle tonight, which was so badly cooked that it made me have compassionate thoughts of the little pig it once belonged to, other intrusive dark thoughts of possibly becoming vegan after this etc. The skin for example was so chewy that my own arm could be more crispy than this. Avoid, maybe get sausages with your Kolsch which are harder to get so bad I guess, as the restaurant and the atmosphere are nice otherwise.

Had dinner at Peter’s Brauhaus and it was the best meal and dining experience we have had in Germany after being here for a week. The waiter was very attentive to us and was approachable for anything we needed including ordering more drinks and asking for the bill. Also very accommodating for us speaking in English! I had the vegetarian rösti and it was delicious. Very happy to have a veggie option! They also have a vegan meal. We arrived at 6pm which was a good time to beat the rush. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was very German and cosy. Neither of us are beer drinkers, but was great to enjoy a small 200ml to complete the “German experience” without needing to get a large glass. Highly recommend!

Beautiful original pub with delicious traditional Cologne food. Fast and very friendly service with the usual Cologne cellar humor. Very entertaining! Not to forget the delicious Kölsch, which you get served by the stick. The people of Cologne don't know proper beer glasses! Absolutely recommended!

We had visited the restaurant the day prior to make a dinner reservation but we were told it was not needed. We turned up at 6pm the next day and were shoved in a back, windowless room on a shared table with two others. Not the kind of final meal experience in Cologne I had in mind. The food was ok but the staff were busy, disinterested and treated the customers like dredging sheep: Just push them through and get them out. Never again.

A fun place to get a lot of tiny beers. It's German food so don't expect a flavor punch to the mouth, but it's clear the take pride and care in their food. The blood sausage and ham hock were great. Kraut is a must. The beef tartare is definitely to share!

There were three of us outside and one employee was unreasonably unfriendly. This happened at 4:05 p.m. on September 3rd, 2024. We were looking forward to visiting Peters and were unfortunately scared away by the employee. Unfortunately, there is a lot of catching up to do when it comes to choosing employees. They left Peters straight away and don't plan on coming back, which is a shame because there is an employee in the outside area.
