The place was very nice but the food was terrible, it didn't suit my taste at all, the meat was cooked well but the sauce was too sweet, even though it said potato dumpling on the side, it came with something else, it was apple puree and boiled apples. But if you like German food, maybe you might like it. The beer was excellent, the waiters were friendly. I would like to come again to drink Kölsch

Good place to try typical German food

Food was top. Service itself, even just the upper waiter, was a problem. We had reserved for 10 guests but at the beginning there were only 8 and one came a little later. The waiters pushed a table together and then the drama began. Both the employees and we were shouted at by the head waiter, who was of the opinion that we had only reserved for 8. We were able to show the written confirmation which was initially not accepted. Everything got sorted out, but it was quite a fight

Service was excellent but the dishes were too salty. We ordered from the lunch menu the beef goulash and the pork with cabbage. The food was tasty but too salty. Same with the Potato Gratin that came with a house salad swimming in mayo. Disappointing given the 4.2 review. The washrooms need some maintenance too.

Came here to try local specialties, we were not disappointed. The dishes are plentiful and the meat is of very good quality. Add to that a waiter who asks for your country of origin and tries to take the order in that language and you know every interaction will be pleasant

Weighty portions of solid traditional German food. Kobes was entertaining and beer was cold.

If you sit outside you can sit very nicely under parasols directly at the Alter Markt. Our Köbes Abrovic was typical Köbes but incredibly sweet, funny and made everything possible for us - definitely recommended!!

Super unfriendly handling. We were there on Friday evening and wanted, among other things, to show my friend's parents the city. There were five of us in total and we wanted to sit outside. We politely asked a neighboring table for a chair, which we were allowed to take. Then a Köbes came straight up and shouted “NO, we don’t do it like that here. We don’t move chairs to other tables here.” My friend's mother then said, "There are five of us." To which Köbes stated that that wouldn't work because you can't sit five people at a table. I didn't know that you can only visit a brewery with a maximum of four people. The other guests also shook their heads. We definitely won't be coming back again.

They put a few more beers on the bill. We didn't check right away, our fault.

Food was good, Köbes was stressed. Had to wait a long time to order and pay.

Nice place, if you want to wait 3 hours for your food. The service is chaotic and the only waiter who does anything acts like a clownish idiot. The food was fine.

Front of house staff was really friendly and nice but everything went downhill once we sat down. We waited for an hour for them to take our order and waited another half an hour waiting for our bill even though it was already 10pm and the restaurant was empty. The food was alright but it was not worth the time we took to come visit this place. We decided to come because of recommendations online but was left terribly disappointed. I cannot recommend this place.

Beautifully furnished, cozy. The beer tastes good. The Köbes actually impressed us with his friendliness and his jokes, but he made the payment process unnecessarily complicated and then had to be reminded several times about the change, which unfortunately left us with a mess.

As always, we were very satisfied!

Unfortunately, the service both inside and outside was totally unfriendly. Had none of the brash charm of the Köbese, you just felt unwanted.

There is inadequate ventilation and the food is mostly pork. The waiters were very slow.

We went for lunch, 2 adults and 2 children. We asked the little one for the children's menu of pasta with tomato (simple, without meat, just the way she likes it). The rest of us shared knuckle number 27 (it had poor-quality potatoes and a delicious sauce of cream and mushrooms) and a typical breaded filet from here. 4 Kols beers in a typical glass (small), soft drink and water. We paid €68. The knuckle was delicious, crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside (minimum for 2 people to share). It was very hot and they didn't turn on the air conditioning. The service was average, the lady who served us was super serious and concise. A good place to eat, centrally located and not very expensive. We recommend it!

Pretty good food, but, unsurprisingly, we revolve around potatoes/meat a lot (we wanted to taste the regional specialties). However, they offer quite a few vegetarian dishes. Very efficient service, but the smile was often missing. Overall the atmosphere is very nice.

Rude and unfriendly staff!! Terrible service attitude. I asked to split the bill but waiter scolded us for wanting to split the bill. When I insisted to split, the waiter kept shaking his head and kept moaning about it as if it was so wrong to split my bill. Dining experience ruined by the staff’s attitude. Food was okay, place was incredibly hot and stale because the brew house does not has air conditioning and the terrace is located in a place without any air movement.

Historic brewery in the center of Cologne. Delicious shank!!! Too bad they don't have air conditioning, in August with 34 degrees, it would be welcome.

A bit a disappointment when it comes to the food. Service is good. Venue give a good impression of a brauhaus restaurant, but it is a tourist trap.

Great service from Mr. Klein danke. Had the Schnitzel with Mushroom sauce and one with the Budapest sauce. Both delicious….. and my Kolsch mug was never empty. Felt authentic and genuine.

Embarrassing as a Cologne resident to bring our foreign visitors here. Known as a good brewery, the service outside was not only unfriendly but also moody and abrupt. Initially tables were half wiped and leftovers were wiped on us. Then top up the beer as you like, occasionally allowing it to dry for 15 minutes. Especially after people asked why we were being passed over. Food was the most necessary thing you could expect for 20 euros+. It's a shame that tourists from the Far West have to be offered such an unfriendly picture of Cologne!

It's nice, but 90% of the ingredients on the menu are just pork, unfortunately there aren't many varieties. Menus start from at least 14-15 euros.

The waiters outside were totally unfriendly. We wanted to display a chair and were told very rudely that it was not possible.

As always, very friendly employees, delicious food (Himmel un Ääd), a tasty Kölsch and a great ambience. We always try to come back, highly recommended.

I went here once- had the potato soup (number 10) and number 36, absolutely exquisite. I have never tasted soup almost better than broccoli cheddar, and the soup was almost better than broccoli cheddar. That’s saying something. I sound like i’m exaggerating or waffling but it was actually really good, I recommend it for people who like soup. + Polite waitress, included an english menu

Food really tasty Portion size too...but the vegetarian food, quantity far too little and too expensive! Unfortunately a little slow outside.

The service from the waiters here is so good that they would put their lives in danger for you. We will definitely stop by on our next visit to Cologne. A very clear recommendation!

There was a partly dry event outside. I'm used to something different from Cologne breweries. However, the staff shortage is felt everywhere.

Went into Peters looking for something other than traditional German. Had lamb chops, rice and salad. It was perfect! A couple playing classic guitars, a solid house wine, and it couldn't have been better

The manager dont know his job and he's so proud of him that he feel free to shout at thé customers after let them wait à long time in the front door... Because we are foreigners? Hopefully m'y daughter who was affraid about this attitude succed to calm down... The food had the same image than the manager: Ridicule and awful... We wanted "typical beerhall food" and knew we were going to a tourist restaurant. The beerhall didn't disappoint with hearty food and great service but with so many tourists (including us) it had a pleasant but not 5 * atmosphere.

It is a central place to try typical German food. The service is good and the food is very delicious. What there was not was Kartoffelpuffer. The quality-price ratio is correct considering the place. The only thing is that the outside terrace breaks with the style of the type of restaurant it is.

Mega unfriendly reception - according to our guide you should eat well here!? - we didn't get that far - behaved well - were directed to the left to the counter and dared to ask guests in the immediate vicinity if we could sit with them - before they could answer we were shouted at from the cellar. ...whether he hadn't clearly told us where to wait?

Waiters are so rude and racist. They didnt take order and even there were lots of empty tables, they said sit another table for 2 people. Dissapointing!

Absolute best! Staffs were all really friendly, happy and efficient. Food portion are huge. Had the Potato Rosti with cheese, olives and onions. The beef goulash is also really good! The decorations are pretty and the ambience is inviting. Will def head there again!

We were a large work group, and the waiter insulted our colleague with a sexist comment, implying that she was at dinner to entertain the colleagues who shared a table with her. Literally, "unterhalte mal hier deine Leute." What a shame !!

A traditional German beer hall. The food is also very good, the interior of the place is quite spacious and beautifully decorated. Only the waiters are a little rude, but I don't focus on it since it's a general situation in Germany. If you go to Cologne, I recommend you to stop by.

My wife and I entered around 5pm and was guided to a table, after a few minutes we realised we was seated by the toilets and by our table was a huge hand sanitising station. We ordered food , ham hock and traditional german sausage both of whick were very dry and seemed to been kept warm for a period of time . We were constantly disturbed by people using the loo and sanitizer . When we asked to pay our bill the waitress asked us to leave a tip and understandably we said no and she literally thew the bill at us . So just walk in look around this historic building and walk out . Don't eat or drink there. . Also I think they don't like us Britts

Terrible food, tourist trap #1, expensive, AVOID!!!

It was fine. Food was "OK", but quite expensive for what it was. Service was good, nothing to complain about here, but not some special unique experience.

We visited this place during the day - so it wasn't busy. The service was good - enjoyed the kölsch service. The beer was good. It was on a stronger side. The food was good.

Food was good as always; Unfortunately, the fact that prices have risen so much is something we'll probably have to come to terms with in the meantime, according to the motto yes or no. What really annoyed me, however, was that the waiter complained about the €1.30 tip with the comment "Where he could get a Kölsch for €1.30". Are you obliged to tip - no! Do these people also tip at the checkout? Unfortunately, many people don't have the money anymore...

All locals recommend this brauhaus. And I fully understand why. Liebe

Delicious Kölsch, good food, nice Köbes... what more could you want?

A beer restaurant where you can enjoy Kölsch and local cuisine. I received the Reinischer Sauerplaten. This one is stewed in raisin sauce and served with apple jam. Regardless of whether you like this dish or not, it is recommended for those who would like to try it. It's a big box and there are many tourists, so it has a lively atmosphere. There's an English menu, and the service staff is friendly, so it's easy to get in even if you're unfamiliar with the place.

Food was delicious, if you are vegetarian a must try is the Pan fried Rosti with cheese and Olives. It was crowded (not surprisingly since the food is exceptional and we didn’t have reservations so our fault) but the staff and owner kept us updated on our wait times and the dinner turned out to be worth the wait , excellent dinner experience !!

I am a fan of Peters Kölsch. Nevertheless, the brewery itself is hardly recommended. You can only eat your food quietly. Atmosphere in the brewery itself is not permitted. The Köbese people are typically Kölsch rather unfriendly. But you know that. The portions are outrageous for the prices. (€21.50 for the portion shown below). Small and very dry. The beer is delicious, but once again in the city you were very disappointed. For me this is mass tourism a la Ballermann. A lot of money for little performance. There are much better pubs around that offer better food for a better price. My conclusion, avoid it and have more fun somewhere else and experience the Cologne feeling.

A bit annoyed and overcrowded. The food was mediocre, the atmosphere was good and the service was top. Maybe we were the wrong guests in the wrong place.

Best meal I've had in Germany . Excellent food , amazing Kolsht . The service initially seemed unfriendly but I guess maybe the waiter wasn't comfortable conversing in English and referred me to his colleague who took good care of me . The decor and ambience of the Brauhaus is also lovely with its unique blended charm and stained glass ceiling.

I like the food here, especially the pork leg. I know i am not local but i ate the same food in at least 2 different German restaurants and this one is the best.

I've eaten here a few times and I can definitely recommend it! A historic place and very attractively decorated. The food was very good and the service very fast. At the end of the evening we had to wait quite a while for the payment, but that was the only thing.

Delicious beer. Nice ambience. Good Köbes. Food was actually quite good. Beer sauce was too salty. Bacon potatoes unfortunately without bacon, but still good fried potatoes. Sauerbraten wasn't sour, the taste of pork was too strong. Nevertheless, we left full and satisfied.

I had visitors from the USA and wanted to show them a few of the famous breweries in Cologne. We were there on a Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. The shop was empty except for a few customers. Nevertheless, we were only allowed to sit at a bar table because we didn't want to eat. My visit included an older lady who would have liked to sit down. When we asked if we could sit down at a table, since most of the tables were empty, we were told: “No, the boss doesn’t want that.” I can still understand that at peak times, but not when the entire store is empty. Really impossible in my opinion. I definitely won't buy Peter's Kölsch again.

People shut up, this is a cologne brewery and always packed - nobody will be waiting for you. Its a super cool spot with great food and beer plus a little joke or verbal abuse from the waiter 😅😅 Stand at the bar for a few beer 🍺
