Many thanks to Peter, who not only gave us a superb welcome but also guided us through the various wines. His warm manner made us feel more than welcome and we enjoyed not only the delicious food but also the great wine! We'd love to come back!

Currywurst fries are recommended.

Great location, atmosphere and wine

We were here for the second time yesterday – the last time after ProWein – and we have to say: it's really great. A superbly curated wine list, ranging from straightforward to absolute top-notch wines that are rarely found even in very good restaurants. Plus, the food is down-to-earth but very good. They haven't reinvented the wheel here, but you can tell they're making the most of their classic dishes. The combination of food and wine, the good atmosphere, and the cheerful staff who really enjoy their jobs is simply perfect. The simplicity of self-service and seating, along with a good playlist – that's what makes this location on a traffic island, where others would have failed long ago, a real hotspot. Fries and wine in a place others probably would never have chosen, guarantees a good mood and a positive buzz. My clear recommendation for a lovely late afternoon or evening with friends. You can even make a reservation from 8 p.m. onwards, but I recommend just going beforehand.

A good, solid place. The currywurst is well-made. The fries are really good. Crispy and crunchy, just as they should be. And the wine selection is good, too. Friendly and welcoming. I like the concept. And I'll be happy to come back. You should give it a try.

New opening: A real Berlin currywurst in Düsseldorf or just a Düsseldorf sausage Berlin style at the Flying Pelikan? Regardless, the sausage is delicious, and so is the sauce. The fries are crispy and tasty. Unfortunately, no Coke available (yet), but that will probably come. But what the hell is a Pelikan plate? I don't eat Pelikan! Why are there cans of anchovies everywhere? And why so many pickles? But it's all good. It's just new. The place has only one drawback: there's no private parking for customers and foodies. Please don't park on the island; just eat while listening to chilled music and enjoying the cozy atmosphere. 6 stars and one deduction for parking, that makes 5 stars.

The shop is really nice, but the staff is an absolute disaster! Arrogant, aloof, and unfriendly. Despite our friendly approach, it's hard to find common ground... What a shame 🫡

Really good shop with delicious wine and good food in a super relaxed atmosphere with a cool crowd! It's a must see in Düsseldorf and here you'll find by far the best vegetarian currywurst in the city!

What a cool spot! Despite a full house on a sunny Saturday, we still managed to get a spot in the sun - perfect timing. The wine? Really good! The food? Simply delicious. And the vibe? Loose, relaxed and really pleasant. You immediately feel comfortable. We’ll definitely be back – maybe next time with even more friends in tow!

A small, great shop with a lot of charm! The currywurst is simply great – perfectly seasoned and really tasty. There is also a good selection of wines to round it all off. What more could you want? A real insider tip that we are happy to recommend!

The store was well attended, which speaks for its popularity. The currywurst deserves a particularly positive mention – it was really delicious. Visually, the store makes a decent impression, but could be decorated a little more lovingly here and there. A small point of criticism: Unfortunately, the tables were not cleared promptly; there were still glasses and leftover food from the previous guests on our table. Overall, the visit was satisfactory and the food was convincing.

I can't say anything about the food as we've already eaten before. The wine selection is quite good. Unfortunately the advice is a bit poor. But it's a nice location for an after-work wine.

We tried currywurst and potatoes. It was the best thing I tried in Germany. We ordered wine with it. The wine list is quite extensive and nice. It should be noted that this is self-service. This can lead to confusion in the restaurant, but the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff make up for this shortcoming.

Coole Gastro ausserhalb der Altstadt mit guter Musik und origineller Deko. Sehr nettes Personal und angenehme Gäste. Die Weine auf der Tafel sind ungewöhnlich (z.B. Naturweine), keine Standards oder 0815 Primitivo / Trendsorten. Man muss sich darauf einlassen. Das Essen ist etwas grob ... Man muss es ausprobieren. Wir gehen öfters hin.

Dear readers and everyone in between, I would like to inform you about the French Fries & Wine Pelican Fly in Düsseldorf. As an experienced connoisseur, I have often had the pleasure of eating and drinking in all kinds of restaurants. I have rarely been so positively surprised. The wine list was varied and inexpensive, so the relatively cheap food was a dance of joy on my taste buds. The extremely polite waitress, who was always right there, took great care of me and my extra. We felt just as comfortable with the warm, cozy atmosphere of the Gammeltraubensaft shop. Dear French fries friends, dear wine lovers. Pelican Fly is not just another bar that serves wine. The wine, the food and the ambience together form an incredibly harmonious and pleasant picture. The wine list is large, but the enjoyment is even greater. If you're planning a relaxed, stylish evening, you'll definitely get your money's worth here. The costs are definitely in the ramen and can be understood after the first sip or bite. Ladies and gentlemen, the search is over, you are in good hands here for the next evening.

This was our second time eating there. The fries were totally over salted. We give the currywurst 7 out of 10 points. The ambience is quite nice, especially the Christmas decorations. The service is also friendly.

Cool location. We were invited to a birthday party and it was really a great atmosphere. The DJ did a great job and the service made an effort. The guests had a lot of fun and danced really well to the music. You could choose whatever food you wanted. It was a successful evening all around

Maybe it's supposed to be "cool" these days if you're just called by a waitress who's just over 18 years old, but then I can eat the sausage at any normal snack bar around the corner and then there's cola and no Wine. Rooms...the heating seemed to be on economy mode, the fries and the currywurst were generally average, only the prices were “fancy”. Price top, quality average, service if you like it...

Former Berlin currywurst stand, renovated in a super modern way. Delicious wines, good quick food, nice staff, good public transport connections. Self-service. Toilets available 😉 I'd love to come back.

I was there at lunchtime and wanted some small fries. However, for 3.50 euros I received a huge portion. Very, very tasty... just like fries should be... While I was waiting I was able to examine the inside and that makes me want to enjoy an evening there with a glass of wine.

We come here every now and then after work. Nice atmosphere, nice audience, nice staff, delicious food and drink!

Wurde gestern von einem Freund dorthin eingeladen. Der Laden ist schön,hipp,gute Musik, nettes Personal,guter Wein, aber gesalzene Preise und das Essen nicht so toll. Ungesalzene Pommes, der Krautsalat ging gar nicht da schmeckt mir der aus dem Supermarkt besser. Die Currywurst habe ich auch schon bessere gegessen. Die Location an sich und die Idee finde ich gut,aber die Preise überzogen und der Geschmack von den Speisen könnte besser sein. Der Laden läuft wohl gut, aber für meinen Geschmack ist es zu laut darin und die Preise und Essen verbesserungswürdig.ich werde dort definitiv nicht mehr hin gehen.

The name sums it all up. The wine selection gives the restaurant a clear unique selling point. The entire ambience is harmonious and there are even mats on the benches outside so that no one gets a cold bottom.

Never knew wine could go so well with fries and currywurst. I like the fact that you have to go to the bar to order, which saves time. The wine selection is good and the food is tasty. Payment by card is possible, same for the tip. Things were clean and the atmosphere is great.

The staff was very pleasant. The place is clean and welcoming. Food wise the curry wurst mit pommes was excellent (you cannot be wrong when you use fresh fries). There's a nice selection of wines (around 12) and some beers NB there's some kind of deposit for wine glasses that you get back when you bring back the glass

Immer wieder lecker, aber 9€ für eine Currywurst mit Pommes ist auch ein stolzer Preis. Würde nicht immer wieder hin gehen, wenn die nicht schmecken würde

The chips and wine is the perfect place to spend a nice evening. The concept is cool: good wine with appropriate advice and little things to eat. It's not just fries, Currywurst lovers and people who like fried classics (e.g. Bami slice) will also get their money's worth here. You can get the wine with the glasses for a deposit. There are also various themed evenings, such as hip hop music. The atmosphere is really nice and central to the city.

Food was good, service was very nice. Unfortunately not my thing, I'd rather go to a real restaurant.

Good atmosphere, centrally located, fast service. I think the prices are reasonable, the portion of fries for €3.50 was even larger than expected. The employees really often looked around to take away empty glasses and plates and asked if everything was okay. The operators can't help it because it's so full and you have to get a seat because the outdoor space is already fully utilized.

Chill place, nice to hang out on the patio on a warm night. The staff were friendly and gave options for wine based on desired texture/flavour. For food, I had only the Halloumi cheese but the price was fair and the taste was excellent.

A nice welcoming restaurant for Currywurst. I had the vegetarian/ vegan option and it was lovely. Could have had a bit more curry but good taste and wonderfully cooked chips.

Cool wine experience shop in a top location. Fries and various (very tasty dips) for snacking, among other things. Pair perfectly with the fantastic wine selection. Uncomplicated, stylish place to enjoy. My wife and I celebrated it and will definitely be back. A must visit (especially if you love good wine or want to get to know it)

Super Location, besonders bei gutem Wetter im Aussenbereich. Sehr gute Weinkarte und Pommes, genauso gut wie im Freibad :-) Die Dips zu den Pommes sind mega, die Currywurst ebenfalls eine echte Empfehlung. Service ist super, und wenn man Glück hat, kann man mit Tony anstoßen!

Cool modern concept, fries with currywurst and delicious wine, there is also some vegetarian options. You have to order inside yourself, which is completely ok. The audience is very mixed, which makes it exciting, highly recommended.

Came across this location completely unexpectedly. Delicious little fast food bites with decent wines. The pavilion and the spot have cult potential.

Wine and chips, great concept. Always packed, aged 20-60. Quite loud inside when it's full. Delicious wines for many tastes. The food was very tasty, the last time it was a bit lacking, but of course that could have been a “bad day”. My recommendation 👌🏼

The best place in Düsseldorf if you like wine and fries! The people who work there know what they do and will always hit you with the best wine for any occasion. Wine pairing with fries, they will blow your palate! And cerise sur le gateau, the location is excellent, between parcs and shopping streets... Why not enjoy a good glas of wine after a day of shopping? Or best place to wait your lovely while they shop 🤣. I will go back for sure!

The fries are good, but the sausage is average at best. There is no cola or soda. The spritzers on offer absolutely do not go well with currywurst.

Very tasty currywurst and outstanding fries! In addition, an absolutely disgusting wine list with a focus on German producers, especially the Moselle, but also Nahe, Palatinate, etc. Everything is just not mainstream. A wonderful place in the otherwise sometimes one-sided D'dorf gastro scene!!! MUST VISIT!
