Paulaner am Dom in Lübeck

The food was very good, the knuckle was world class.

Actually to say upfront; It's not a familiar Paulaner restaurant, but rather an owner-operated one. In other words, invented, copied or how a service person can interpret it, everyone can decide for themselves. We came from Hamburg and were very hungry. Best prerequisite for Hefeweizen with schnitzel or knuckle. We dreamed about it and ordered accordingly. And then came something we hadn't seen yet. The other guests were given priority because it seemed to be a matter of discussing business and then writing it all down to business. In other words, drink and eat a lot and then of course there are lots of tips. Quick money?) I sat the whole time and I thought to myself, I'm going to be asked what's wrong with the food. The quantity I ordered was knuckle (for women). This was a cut piece of normal knuckle with two dumplings and lots of sauerkraut!! I sat like that for at least 25 minutes until I spoke to the waiter myself… Lots of excuses and unnecessary conversations about how you only get a tiny piece of knuckle for €20… Nope! You don't expect something like that from a well-known restorer named Paulaner. Not recommended for normal guests…

I'll be eating there with my colleagues soon. We have already reserved a table. Since I didn't know the restaurant yet, I visited it today. It's very cozy. The staff is also extremely friendly. The plates here are quite large and well filled. I'm a real schnitzel fan and totally thrilled. The portion of “Wirtshaus Schnitzel” is something for those who are very hungry. Super tasty and reasonably priced. Now I finally have my regular restaurant again.

Got a lovely German feeling here. We booked a table beforehand, which was good as it was completely full. The portions here are incredibly generous! Ordered a spätzle cheese which was great, but could have been half as big. Unfortunately, the chicken was a little dry and the fries not so crispy. They also had beer trays where you could try a few different beers.

We've been there many times. Ordered a “quiet table for two” yesterday. We were seated at the worst table in the whole store, which is in the middle of the aisle, even though there were alternatives. In addition, the schnitzel was noticeably smaller (easily 30%) than before. Since this was unfortunately the second "mistake" (on another visit we left after we couldn't even order within 30 minutes), I would no longer recommend it at this time. It's a shame, we used to love being there.

Very Bavarian/South German/rustic cuisine. Nevertheless, very tasty and very rich. The location has a very rustic feel. The only thing you could "complain" about: the service is really not grumpy and snippy enough for Bavaria (but very, very nice).

Tastes very good. Very friendly attentive service people. The women's knuckle was completely ok for me, except for the small dumpling. The Wirtshaus Schnitzel was a very good portion. The Oktoberfest beer was delicious. The beer garden in summer is great!

Food was OK. Prices ok, rather a bit more expensive. The atmosphere was quite cool, starting with the rather spartan furnishings and ending with the service staff, none of whom smiled once. You feel anything but comfortable or welcome and every question seems to be too much. That was the first and only time there.

The service was a bit rough at first, but after a while it was really great. The food was simply delicious...

Hello from Lübeck's most Bavarian restaurant! A warm and great welcome and the friendly, attentive service continued throughout the evening. Bavarian Delicacies, but really expensive. You have to rethink home cooking. But it didn't do anything. It was tasty and fresh and we were satisfied. Well worth a visit in the southern north.

Paulaner is almost a must for us, no matter where. Food very tasty and plentiful, staff friendly. The only downside: There was no more liver dumpling soup, but the potato soup was also delicious. Roulades and goulash are super tender. Only recommended

We were here last summer, now on a return visit. Best hax ever! The whole skin crispy! Cozy outdoor seating in the yard, friendly staff. Really recommended.

As a pork enthusiast in the far north, I have no expectations of getting pork here... ... but then everything turned out differently. It was super tasty, paired with a good beer and the evening was saved. There were also large schnitzel varieties.

Everything was very good. Hospitality was pleasant and to the point. Food was very tasty.

In contrast to the last two years, the quality of the food has increased significantly. We had the Paulaner Schnitzel and the Leberkäse. The waiter was very friendly, attentive and we were served very quickly.

Unfortunately, everything has really deteriorated. Cheese spaetzle tasted greasy and boring, there are no more homemade onions on it but instead fried onions from the package. Too bad! And unfortunately also way too expensive...

I ordered the knuckle there, the very friendly waiter gave me the information that I would like to eat the skin with my fingers and said it. The knuckle was a dream, very tender meat and the skin crispy like chips. Plus a nice beer. When I'm back in Lübeck, I'll be happy to come back for dinner.

Best cream schnitzel north of Hesse.

It depends on the motivation of the service staff. We probably just happened to make a bad choice...:( But the food was delicious as always...

We live in town and have been looking for good German food for when visitors come. (we are not German) We all had some version of the Schnitzel and it was great. Came with potatoes and a nice salad. The server was very friendly and enjoyed jesting with our visitors from the US. I would recommend this an affordable and friendly place here in Lúbeck.

Very cozy place, especially for its beer garden. We ordered a plate of Paulaner knuckle and snichzel, very filling, Paulaner beer and apple strudel for dessert, all very good.

Delicious southern German food in the beautiful north! We all enjoyed it. From the spinach dumplings to the schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce to the matjes. The cheese spaetzle was also tasty, but very powerful, as cream was added to the sauce in addition to the cheese - a bit too much for my taste. It is very worthwhile to drink the Paulaner Spezi. It would also be nice to be able to order the “Zero” version. The ambience is rustic and creates a pleasant and authentic feeling. The waitress was very friendly and quick. We can highly recommend it there. If the weather is good, there is also a beer garden.

Nice corner, everyone friendly, good food

Nice indoor and outdoor space. We were impressed that while there were only 2-3 groups inside and outside (it was a weekday afternoon), we had to wait to be told if there was availability (there were no reserved tables anywhere). We sat in their courtyard, which although the view from the adjacent building that was being built spoiled the atmosphere, it was beautiful. Most of the dishes were tasty and elaborate. Except for one plate that was half a bone and the way it had been cut they gave him the point where he had almost only bone and little meat. The prices on some dishes could be a little lower and their image on the plate a little more neat. The same goes for the beers that some of the company had clearly less full in their glass. The service of the young woman who took us in was exemplary. Very smiling and kind. Despite the few mishaps, we had a very nice afternoon there and would definitely go again.

Anyone who is taking a break could go there. I can only recommend it.

Excellent food with quick and attentive service! I recommend it!

Visiting from Texas and this place was really great. Beer and food were very good. However the service was extremely slow. We noticed several people sat down and were never acknowledged and they eventually left. We ordered our food and then a large party of 12+ was seated. They received their food before ours. We weren’t in a rush and enjoyed the atmosphere. But the service could have been better. I would go back next time I visit Lübeck.

Great beer garden with typical southern German cuisine and therefore a specialty in Lübeck. The knuckle is very good and the vegetarian dishes were also good. As we all know, beer tastes best in a brewery.

We went to the Paulaner beer garden for lunch. The service was very friendly and the food was really good. We sat comfortably in the shade away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Suggestion for improvement: The interiors looked kind of untidy, which doesn't look good on guests. But we'd love to come back.

Five years ago I was with a group for a short trip to Lübeck. We ate there every evening and it was great. Today was my birthday and I really wanted to go there again. When we got there, I couldn't believe my eyes at what had become of the once beautiful beer garden. Very unkempt! That has nothing to do with the Bavarian atmosphere. The food was quite good but we won't visit the restaurant again.

We were there with 8 people. You have to wait a while for the food, but it is freshly prepared. Everyone received their food at the same time.

Lübeck offers a little gem of an inn that serves authentic German food in good portions at decent prices - Paulaner am Dom. Our small family of two adults and a young teenager appreciates good food. It should be mentioned that food doesn't have to be expensive, but the quality should very much be able to be seen and tasted. Paulaner am Dom fully fulfilled our wishes - we ordered original Wiener schnitzel and pork schnitzel. Ordered good beer and coke for the youngster 😉 The schnitzel was of course veal and very well cooked. The good thing about this dish was that the cucumber salad was homemade and tasted great. Funnily enough, the young teenager asked for a sauce/gravy of some kind, but we talked about the fact that in DK, we probably have a habit of having some kind of dip, regardless of the dish.. The shank was of high taste quality, and was eaten with great satisfaction, tasty and a good solid dish. The beer was delicious and served in mugs and glasses according to the type of beer. Four stars because it was all solid and good. Good atmosphere in the courtyard with a relaxed atmosphere. If you visit Lübeck, you must visit Paulaner am Dom.

A sacred cozy courtyard with both sun and shadow was what we were hoping to find in Lübeck - and oh boy we did! They serve a giant plate of delicious schnitzel and cold draft beer. Plenty of space both inside and outside.

It's a great pub/restaurant with traditional German food and beer. Nice garden on the sumer, traditional interior design.

This was our second time there. We had to add some seasoning, but that's a matter of taste. Huge portions. Service was very good, but one waiter was a bit grumpy.

What a wonderful little gem, I recommend this over all the touristy restaurants down by the water. Definitely worth a visit.

I went there because I wanted to eat Haksen and schnitzel. it is delicious. The schnitzel had a delicious cream sauce. It's friendly and the atmosphere on the terrace is nice. The bathroom is also clean.

Why drive all the way to Munich when it's Weisswurst, Nürnberger, Haxe, Biergarten, beer not to be forgotten and such friendly service right near Denmark?

Authentic Bavarian cuisine in a pleasant environment.

On 14/7 around 17:45, we followed the door sign indicating terrace is open to the restaurant. The website also advertises the restaurant as inviting! However, the male waiter denied that the terrace being open and turned us away "outside is closed and inside is fully booked". We were left standing at the threshold rather puzzled and disappointed. We tried to talk to him again through another entrance and seek a solution but he turned us away without any explanation. We resulted in going to the restaurant next door. Within 30mins, we saw him hosting and seating two groups of people at the terrace. We feel that we were treated unfairly, unprofessional and inhospitably by the waiter who does not live up to what the restaurant portrays to be.

Wir waren leider gar nicht zufrieden. Wir hatten zwei Wiener Schnitzel, jeweils zum Preis von 32€, und erfahrungsgemäß kann man bei diesem Preis wohl eine guten Schnitzelqualität erwarten. Das Fleisch war bei beiden Schnitzeln so zäh, dass es zum Teil nicht gegessen werden konnte. Dazu gab es einen Gurkensalat, nicht frisch, sondern aus eingelegten Gurken. Das schmeckte sehr ähnlich zu einem Gurkensalat aus dem Regal im Supermarkt. Auch die Bratkartoffeln waren fast komplett verbrannt. Es gab jeweils 5 Scheiben (!) die man Essen konnte, der Rest waren kleine verbrannte Krümel. Auf unsere Beschwerde wurde nur mit „das gebe ich mal weiter“ und „kann ich Ihnen einen Schnaps anbieten“ reagiert. Als hätte der Schnaps den Preis von 65€ und den Hunger, der danach noch bestand, wieder wett gemacht. Bei der Übergabe der Rechnung wurde das Thema dann auch nicht noch einmal angesprochen und der volle Preis berechnet. Wirklich schade!!!

Very nice authentic restaurant with classic German food. We ordered sausages with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and eisbein and it was delicious!!! Portions are big as well. Very nice changing table set up for babies, super convenient. Recommending this place as non touristic place to eat.

Particularly recommended: Bavarian sausage salad. I can highly recommend the Paulaner am Dom and will come back on his next visit to the city.

Simply really delicious food. The portions are nothing to sneeze at. The prices are reasonable. The cheese spaetzle is a dream. You are welcome to order them with any meal for a small additional charge. Hackle Pschorr in the Steinkrug is delicious and goes well with hearty dishes. I find the restaurant quaint. The toilets were also clean.

The most delicious restaurant I have ever eaten in Germany❤️It’s not a surprise at all><And the view and atmosphere are great😍 Delicious milk coffee and hot cocoa, not too sweet. The beef liver ball soup is special and delicious, the seasoning is not too salty, the pig's feet are even better, super crispy, and not too dry inside, the sauerkraut is also seasoned just right, and there are delicious springy potato balls ~ the overall price It’s not particularly expensive because it’s in a tourist area. If you come to Lübeck, don’t miss this one because you’re in a hurry~

Since we couldn't find a restaurant on the Trave where we didn't have the impression that quantity was the only thing that mattered (outdoor areas were far too large and staff too few), we decided on the Paulaner. Delicious food, fast and super friendly service. Great ambience. Only recommended
