Paulaner am Dom in Lübeck

We went to Paulaner with a group of 51 people. We ordered our dishes in advance, and everything went perfectly; the food was absolutely delicious. The service was attentive, and there were always plenty of drinks coming back to our tables. I highly recommend Paulaner. Many thanks to the Paulaner team.

I've had it more than 5 times. I hate pork cutlets, so I don't even try schnitzel, but that rich cream sauce is so delicious! Chuberknee. The Haxen is also delicious (I only go here in Lübeck). If you're going with beer, order one Haxen for two. It's a good amount. If you're a big eater, you can have one schnitzel per person and a beer. You'll be full! With one dish each, we couldn't finish the schnitzel and Haxen. (If you're starving and don't have any liquids, maybe that's possible. Otherwise, just eat the leftovers.) When my family came last time, two men, three women, and I ordered two Haxens and one schnitzel and drank 1-2 beers each. We were full. I always eat those dishes, so I don't know about the other dishes, but I think I'll always order those two when I go. I'm writing a review because I'm craving them after a while. The staff, too. Great food and delicious beer. The size of the Karka was really impressive - it's a shame I couldn't finish it all! Next time I would choose a smaller portion. The service is pleasant, the staff is friendly and warm. A fun experience that I want to repeat.

Not necessarily. You have to pay an extra 2 euros for a change to the side dish (dumplings instead of croquettes). The portion size is for those who are a little hungry. When I visited 4 years ago, everything was tip-top, but now it's questionable.

Unfortunately, we failed. We entered the restaurant at 12:00 PM on a weekday. Only a few customers were in sight. Our anticipation of a crispy knuckle of pork was immediately dampened. The friendly waitress informed us that the knuckle and goulash would need at least another three hours. We then opted for schnitzel. The food was okay. Despite the empty room, the waiter had no time for us. The request for the bill was the decisive factor for this review. Original text: "You still have something to drink, so you don't need the bill yet..." Great cinema.

We tried the Paulaner am Dom today and can honestly say we were extremely surprised. The service was super friendly and attentive, the food and drinks arrived very quickly, and everything was delicious, hot, and plentiful. All in all, a very pleasant visit and I would definitely recommend it. Thank you!

We were there with a large group and were able to find space outside together – of course, we had a reservation, as there's no other way with more than 10 people. However, we were allowed to order a la carte. I liked the service, and we even received all our dishes at roughly the same time. They even brought out extra turkey strips for the salad without asking, because the waitress thought it was a bit small. If only it were always like this... 😍 Otherwise, you definitely shouldn't expect gourmet food here, because that's not the plan. My simple currywurst and fries were really delicious, though.

When you walk into this restaurant you are transported to another time. The service was wonderful and the food delicious! I hope I have time to come back for a second try. The Inn Pretzel is a MUST!!

This used to be a cafe. It was being renovated. We were the only guests. It was cold outside. The heating was only lukewarm. So we sat there in our coats. That's unacceptable. The food wasn't great and wasn't really hot either. Once and never again! Years later. The restaurant is large but cozy. Since the weather is good, we go out into the garden. The food is hearty and Bavarian-style. The portions are incredibly large. Everyone will really be full here. We found the meat a bit tough. That's often the case with pork. The coffee specialties were surprisingly good. We left the restaurant satisfied after a pleasant afternoon.

Unfortunately, the food was mediocre; the turkey salad was far too dry, and the bread was poorly served (on a large white plate). Unfortunately, the restaurant itself and the restrooms weren't particularly clean; the price/performance ratio wasn't great. I won't go there again.

"Looks great – inside, a flop! Pure disappointment." I ordered a "Munich-style schnitzel" at this restaurant. The first impression was promising: beautifully presented, fried eggs on top, and a slice of lemon on the side. But when I cut into the dish, I got a rude awakening: Underneath the schnitzel was a layer of completely burnt onions and charred fried potatoes. It wasn't just "crispy" – it was simply charred and inedible. Particularly annoying: The same dish was served at the next table – everything there was perfectly prepared. So apparently there are no quality standards; it's pure luck what you get on your plate. The server saw that I left most of the food behind without saying a word. No questions asked, no interest, no apology. To me, that's a clear sign of disinterest in the customer. A restaurant doesn't just survive on appearances, but on honest cuisine and good service. Unfortunately, I missed both here. I've attached photos so everyone can judge for themselves whether this is acceptable. Conclusion: After this experience, I unfortunately can't recommend the restaurant.

The food was truly delicious; we were here for lunch today and had a truly wonderful meal. I can only recommend the restaurant.

If you like heavy food, this is a good place. A salad as a main course with a slice of bread, etc., is too small for the money. Schnitzel seems okay, but not authentic. The Kaiserschmarrn was a ready-made dish and bears no resemblance to the original, and at €8.50, it's overpriced. Pancakes would be better. It seems to be enough to fill you up and enjoy a good beer.

Cozy place if you are looking for German food.

Unfortunately disappointing. A knuckle of pork that didn't taste good and didn't have that warm "Paulaner" beer garden feeling. Instead: inattentive staff. Very long waits for everything. For seats, the menu, drinks, and even the food. You should have left during the wait. 1.5 hours for one drink and one main meal without any extras isn't enough. They didn't ask if everything was OK or if you'd like another. Instead, only three dishes were delivered instead of four, which was only noticed later, and they said, "Just a moment." The fourth meal didn't arrive until the others at my table had already finished eating. At one point, we asked how long it would take for the missing food to arrive because we had an appointment afterwards. They said they could pack the food – of course, I'll gladly take it with me to the appointment and unpack it there. Thanks for nothing. No apologies, no accommodations, or anything. A small drink or a pretzel (to go) or some kind of gesture would have helped a lot. Instead, I was given the full bill without any apology.

A cute little beer garden with a typical atmosphere and prompt service. Friendliness, entertainment, and a family atmosphere were all on offer. The menu was well-stocked and left nothing to be desired—in fact, you were spoiled for choice because you wanted to try so many things. The prices for the food were absolutely justified considering the quality and quantity. Only the fried potatoes could have used a bit more seasoning and a more thoroughly cooked dish. It's definitely worth a visit, and it's well worth recommending.

Beware of misleading information! If you're expecting a Munich schnitzel at Paulaner, you won't get a Munich schnitzel like you get in Munich. Not with horseradish, but with a fried egg. In the north, it's called a Hamburg schnitzel. If you think that information will interest the waiter or the owner, then no, it won't! Quite the opposite. What the heck. It would be like ordering rosé wine and getting red wine. Who doesn't need guests? For me, the experience was unacceptable, and I won't be coming back.

A nice little beer garden, and the interior is nice too. The food only partially has something to do with Paulaner. I had a sausage salad that Bavarians, Swabians, and Bedenser wouldn't accept as such. Sausage salad consists of high-quality pork sausage/Lyoner, red onions, shaved radishes, some cucumber, and the marinade. I also had a potato soup "with garnish" that was completely indefinable (cheese? broth extract?). The garnish consisted of (no exaggeration) about 20-30 grams of flavorless, thin Bockwurst, etc., etc. I would advise the chef to go to Paulaner in Munich...

Excellent German cuisine. Very large portions. The outdoor garden is now open. Very nice service, speaking English and Polish. I recommend it - it was delicious. Dinner for three people - 1 x soup, 3 x main course and 3 x drinks = 65€

We were at Paulaner on June 24, 2025. We weren't entirely satisfied. The food was good. But unfortunately, they were out of two beers! We'd experienced something like this before a long time ago. I think you should order enough beer in advance. We also ordered a different beer, but it was forgotten and we only got it upon request. Well, we'll see how it is next time??!!!

Restaurant with a lovely beer garden. The food was exceptionally good; the Paulaner schnitzel, sausage salad, and meatloaf were all delicious.

Unfortunately, I can only give this place 3 stars. The food itself was good, the schnitzels were excellent, and the Labskaus was also excellent. However, the vegetables (carrots with peas) that came with the children's schnitzel were clearly canned, which is a no-go for me. Service was very friendly. The atmosphere in the beer garden was also very nice.

It was okay, but nothing special. I didn't really feel like I was at Paulaner.

Very inhospitable. There were 14 of us guests, one of whom still had the remains of an ice cream sundae. Because of the ice cream sundae, the guest was asked to leave the beer garden. Since the other 13 also didn't receive much attention and couldn't place an order within a reasonable time, we left the moderately busy beer garden. Everything was perfect at the next door neighbor's restaurant – it's best to go there directly. There, we enjoyed very good appetizers and hoppy drinks in a short time for a three-figure sum.

The food was basically okay, but a bit disappointing for the price. I had Leberkäse (meatloaf) with a fried egg and swapped the potato and bacon salad for fried potatoes (€2 extra). So the dish, which I already thought was a bit expensive at €20 for what it was, cost just under €22. Basically, it tasted just like something you could easily make at home. I would have hoped for a bit more for €20—something a little special. Hence, not 5 stars. Service was nice. We sat outside and enjoyed the last of the sun. It looked quite cozy inside too. It's definitely worth a try.

We were in the store at 8:15 p.m. and wanted to enjoy a schnitzel. Unfortunately, the kitchen was already closed at that time. Was it 45 minutes before the store closed? It would be good to communicate online that the kitchen closes 1 hour before the store closes. Well, there won't be a next time.

Tolles Ambiente, freundliche Servicekräfte, große Portion für angemessene Preise. Essen war schnell auf dem Tisch. Werden das Lokal weiterempfehlen. Beim ersten Versuch, 2 Tage zuvor hier im Lokal, wurden wir beim Einlass darauf hingewiesen, das das Essen heute bis zu einer Std. Wartezeit haben wird. ( große Gesellschaft) das fanden wir nett, und haben uns eine Alternative gesucht.

Unfortunately not as expected. First of all: The staff was more than friendly, you sometimes sat there for a long time without being noticed, but that doesn't lead to a star deduction. The gentleman and lady were great. The food, however, is just above mediocre. However, this was not to be expected, as quickly as the food was served after ordering. The schnitzel was far too thick and seemed completely unbeaten, the cheese spaetzle had just been warmed up. The fries and salad were good. The waiter's comment that there was still fresh Oktoberfest beer on tap was great. The ambience of the Paulaner at the cathedral simply doesn't come close to anything Bavarian. It is also very loud in the location. Unfortunately it didn't get more than 3 stars. Too bad.

For me, the Paulaner am Dom is one of the best restaurants in Lübeck. As a Swabian, I especially love the cuisine that is offered there. The food comes quickly, in good portions and has always been tasty so far. The service completely convinced me when I was there with my 2 boys. Without being asked, my older one was given something to paint and my little one was given something to look at. All in all a great location!

En general una experiencia bien, pero repetidamente pedí un Schweinshaxe (hombro de cerdo) y recibí un Schweinshaxe Dame (hombro de cerdo, tamaño de la señora). Siendo un hombre de 100 kg no creo que me vea particularmente afeminado así que me decepcionó recibir la talla de dama a pesar de pedir la porción completa e incluso repetir el pedido. No recibí disculpas por su error. El Kaiserschmarrn (desierto) era bastante promedio en comparación con otros lugares donde lo he tenido. Mi novia, que no come carne roja, se las arregló con una ensalada ya que el pollo se había agotado.

Estuvimos en Lubeck por 3 noches y habíamos hecho investigación sobre restaurantes. Reservamos una mesa aunque no estaba ocupado, sospecho que podría ser popular en el clima más cálido, así que se le puede aconsejar reservar. La comida era abundante, schnitzel para nosotros y la abeja bávara. Probé mi alemán y todo salió bien, el personal cortés. Fue así de bueno que volvimos 2 noches más tarde para más comida y cerveza. . Volveremos si volvemos a Lubeck otra vez

We started with the sausage (which we didn’t know what we ordered but it was delicious but came in water we didn’t know if it was soup, we went to eat the sausage with the skin and a local young kid yelled across to us and said no don’t eat the skin! Haha ty) I had the pork schnitzel with the mushroom sauce which wow was incredible I could have just had that it’s to die for! My husband has the pork knuckle with crackling which sad AMAZING! Huge portions and absolutely delicious!

When the weather is sunny, it is beautiful almost everywhere. But the beer garden in the Paulaner is particularly beautiful because it is a small haven of peace and relaxation in the middle of the city. Food and service as always great and uncomplicated.

With the nice weather, we went looking for a good and recommendable restaurant. We found what we were looking for near the cathedral. The Paulaner at the cathedral. Everything was perfect for us and we fully recommend it. Quiet little beer garden, large portions, very tasty and served hot. Salad was interestingly prepared with a sour vinaigrette. If you're looking for a taste of Bavarian cuisine, you've come to the right place. Clear map, but absolutely sufficient. Great, stay like that! 😉

Paulaner schnitzel, salad and a dark wheat beer. Schnitzel, a monster portion with mushroom cream sauce. Fried crispy just the way it should be Service friendly and attentive, but maybe it was because I was sitting alone in the beer garden (😉) If you're really hungry, you're in good hands there and you can't say anything about the price 👍

The service was a disaster, we had made a reservation, arrived a little early (10 minutes) and were immediately given a message. The menus no longer look nice on paper and urgently need to be reprinted. The layout is also awkward. Replacing the inserts, no matter which one, would have cost €2, which is no longer appropriate these days. It's okay to charge a surcharge for fried potatoes or something similar, but swapping warm sauerkraut for warm red cabbage isn't an additional expense that justifies a surcharge. Then we ordered and got our drinks: four bottled drinks and she only had three glasses... After a long wait I had to get my glass myself. When I approached the service person, she had no idea what I wanted. So I completely forgot my glass. There were only three or four other tables occupied. Food was delicious and down to earth. There was very little crust in the three portions of pork roast (there were two slices per portion and a maximum of half a slice of crust) Meat was quite generous for everyone, vegetables were okay, croquettes weren't enough for the remaining quantities. The beef roulades (two per portion, a lot) were also tasty but the proportion on the plate was even more unbalanced. We sat at the stand near the pass for quite a long time, eating the finished food. During our entire stay there was e.g. B. A knuckle on the pass. We didn't give any tips. Overall okay but we won't be coming back.

One of the better Paulaners. The boss is a bit North German friendly but everything is ok. Who would like to eat crusty roast with croquettes? Unfortunately, changing the supplement costs €2. The food was good and plentiful, unfortunately a bit salty. Ambience was nice, we would come again.

Quaint Bavarian-style pub in downtown Lübeck. Here you can find the “normal” Bavarian specialties at a slightly higher price level. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked good. The portions are OK. The restaurant was very busy for a Friday evening. Service is nice and friendly. Gladly again.

There were three of us (including a child) in the restaurant early in the evening. The service was very friendly (they responded very kindly to our child) and, above all, they were very quick. The drinks were at the table 2-3 minutes after ordering, and our food was there after about 15-20 minutes. Everything was fresh and very hot. The dessert portions are very large, so it might be a good idea to share something here, as the main courses are also very rich. Overall a very nice evening. We would like to come back soon.

The food was very tasty and the price was also very reasonable. The staff was very accommodating and very nice. Since I physically cannot climb the 4 flights of stairs in the main entrance and I went there on a tricycle, I was allowed to park my tricycle in their beer garden and over going to the restaurant in the beer garden and that alone is worth 5 stars to me.
