Two stars just for the friendliness, my husband and I were at the Palmenhaus this afternoon, I can tell you that this has NEVER happened to me and I have been in service myself for 20 years. Drinks and appetizers came quickly, the main courses also came relatively quickly even though it was very busy, now the drama begins, my husband had gyros metaxa where the salad was missing, I had gyros, fries, sozouki and actually soflaki but which had bifteki on it and the salad was also missing, fries and gyros were cold, the skewer couldn't be removed, I let the food go back and asked if I could at least still get the salad. The waitress actually came back and asked if The food should be made warm, so please, I don't go out to eat warmed up food, I can warm up a can at home. The salad was brought and even though I mentioned twice that I needed new cutlery, I sat there without cutlery, so honestly, salad with my fingers, no thanks. My husband ate alone, something we've never had before because of something so incompetent, then I wanted to have the rest of his metaxa packed up and packed the salad with it, sorry I didn't mention that and gave it back, NOW comes the final blast, I ate almost nothing and my food was on the bill, I said I wasn't paying for a dish that I'd barely touched, then she left briefly and came back with her cell phone to do the math, it works a lot professionally, without words, especially because she wanted to recalculate everything rather than subtract my food from the total. Conclusion: I will never go there again because I leave a restaurant hungry and my husband is allowed to eat alone and I am not even offered anything other than warming them up, yuck, no thanks, because warmed up fries are disgusting.

The Palmenhaus apparently has a new kitchen team. The dishes are much more attractively presented and the quality has improved. Overall, a recommendation and significantly better than last year.

It was our first time in the Palmenhaus and we were pleasantly surprised by the furnishings and atmosphere. From the outside it is very inconspicuous. We enjoyed the starters, but unfortunately the meat was very dry and the gyros barely had any taste. It deserves a 2nd chance as the service and ambience were good. It's a shame that the food couldn't quite keep up last time.

After a visit to the castle park, we went to the palm house for the first time today. Pleasant atmosphere, some with a large winter garden. Beautiful table decoration with fresh flowers. Large selection of food. We had 2 menus from the cheap lunch menu which even included soup and dessert. We received extremely friendly service and can only highly recommend the Palmenhaus!

Very good in his class. Souvlaki is cut a little thicker and is therefore juicy and not hard like in other Greek restaurants. The lush floral decorations on the tables are remarkable.

We were there as a family. After we finished our meal we were literally thrown out!! We wanted to sit there in peace and drink something. Then the waitress came and said “we have to leave because the table has now been sold.” An absolute disgrace!!!!! I've never experienced anything like this before!!!!!

We were here with 20 people, family and friends at the end of the year and felt very comfortable. We enjoyed it very much and the prices are reasonable by today's standards.

Great food - on public holidays there is a separate menu with less choice, but there is still something for everyone. When it's full it's very loud, but in summer it's indescribably beautiful outside in the garden. Children are warmly welcome. Great restaurant, nice operators. We always enjoy eating here.

Yesterday, December 20th, 2024 at 9 p.m. I ate gyros. Some of the meat had been burned to coals. I put aside what I could sort. Nevertheless, at 8 a.m. today I had to vomit the burnt flesh after stomach pain. Maybe the meat wasn't completely fresh either. It was an impertinence not to throw away the burnt layer but to serve it to customers. It's a shame because we had very good and tasty meals here several times.

Superintendent kitchen and Octay is the best man. I love you baby 😂😉

We were absolutely thrilled on our first visit in June. The outside area is very nice, the food was fantastic! Unfortunately we were very disappointed on our second visit. The interior looks nice at first glance, but over time we noticed a lot of flaws in the interior design. That wouldn't be so bad if the food was at least convincing. The cold starter plate mainly consists of creams slapped on it and a few slices of bread. The dry white wine tasted very stale and unfortunately our main courses weren't convincing either. The chicken was very dry and the broccoli was overcooked. The salmon and spinach pasta was a very generous portion, but unfortunately it tasted like nothing and the tagliatelle was also overcooked. After we answered the question whether it was tasty with "Unfortunately not", we were served two ouzo, but generally we only received a look of disbelief instead of an apology.

We have been here several times in the last few years and have always been very satisfied. Very tasty food, friendly and funny service, plus a nice, large beer garden.

Inconspicuous in the pedestrian zone. You wouldn't have guessed how big the restaurant is. There are covered tables in the backyard garden at the back. The lunch menu from Monday to Saturday is a hit. There are 10 menus to choose from. Can only be recommended.

We were invited there a few days ago. The entrance to the backyard reeked of cigarettes. we sat in the covered courtyard. It was so dirty everywhere. The food was overpriced and fried to death. We never want to go there again.

I was very disappointed with my current visit. It took over 15 minutes before we could even ORDER drinks. Then came the greeting from the kitchen, which could have been better left out entirely. The bread was so-so, but the side dishes were no good: there was tomato paste with feta, which tasted terrible, then almost liquid herb butter. The main courses were, as usual, super tasty, but the whole impression was marred by the generally lame service. Addendum: I was there yesterday, the prices for drinks are now outrageous! 6.60 euros for a 0.4 cola? And it says 5.50 euros outside! That's pretty intense!

Guests are apparently not welcome here. We wanted to have a drink there - the extremely unfriendly waiter told us that this was a restaurant. The restaurant was very empty, we didn't take anyone's seat. But we weren't allowed to order just drinks. Luckily we found another restaurant where we received friendlier service.

Food was delicious, service was quick and polite.

I really have to say that the last visits to the Palmenhaus were really excellent, that Tomahawk really exceeded everything and the lunch menu can only be recommended... many thanks to the entire team and the ability to criticize if there is anything to complain about, but it really has Not for a long time... Great praise and keep it up 👍☺️

We have been eating there every now and then for many years and we are ALWAYS 100% satisfied.

What was that? We've loved coming here over the last few years, but our last visit wasn't so nice. The menu was extremely thinned out and the prices increased. The portions were no longer as generous and the taste was average at best. A pity.

Was recommended to us. A hidden gem. Typical Greek cuisine. Great winter garden and large backyard beer garden. Absolutely beautiful. Great kitchen, great staff.

We had dinner there a few months ago. Tzatziki tasted like yogurt...hardly any garlic, spicy spices. The meat didn't taste much better than in a snack bar. The quality should be reconsidered with the chef and owner. If you're looking for quantity and large portions, you're in good hands here. Quality taste spices is very lukewarm, about 10 years ago it was better here. Ambience very nice.

It's beautiful in the garden, the food is fresh and tasty as always and the service is correct. Until something changes, I will return there.

Discretion is a no go! I met up with friends here to have a nice evening chatting and eating some good food. Chatting was good, eating was good, what more could you want? Ok, we drank a few beers and the bill was around €150, you can say it was all good. Now for the no go "My wife had a generous portion and had eaten little that evening, for whatever reason. When I asked the waitress if she could pack my wife's food, the answer was "yes". The waitress brought it Then I take the packaging to the table, it definitely looks cool for the neighboring tables as my wife spoons the leftovers, albeit plenty, into the box. Oh my God, how embarrassing, at least for me! Anyway, nice place.

Waren heute im Palmenhaus essen. Es hat uns gut gefallen. Sehr freundliches Personal und gutes Essen. Ich habe frische Bandnudeln mit Lachs in eine Senfsosse gegessen und ich muss sagen, es war ein Geschmackserlebnis. Das Gyros war etwas trocken und hätte ein bisschen mehr Gewürz gut getan. Alles in allem war das Essen gut und wir werden bestimmt wiederkommen.

Cheaper, good food, large portions

We registered at short notice on Saturday afternoon as a small group (6 people). We were greeted very friendly and escorted to our reserved table. The Palmenhaus restaurant is very romantic but not kitschy, but has a typical Greek style that makes you feel like you are on holiday. I ordered Stifado, made from chicken legs, and was blown away. The memories of an incomparable holiday on Crete were clearly palpable.

Unfortunately the annex was very cold and we stayed there anyway because we had come on a recommendation. The food was hot and steaming. Staff friendly.

Visited this restaurant a little later in the evening. Service was nice and friendly and tried hard that evening, the restaurant was very busy. The taste of the food was ok, the presentation was simple, no Greek cuisine with a twist. The portions are large and the price/performance ratio is at the upper limit. We would stop there again for a while

Sehr nettes Restaurant, das Essen war gut, das Personal nett und freundlich. Das Ambiente war nicht so meins, aber das ist halt nicht so dramatisch. ich gehe zum Essen hin und nicht zum Gucken.

Netter Service und stets bemüht. Das Essen an sich war geschmacklich noch okay, jedoch von der Konsistenz teilweise gewöhnungsbedürftig. Portionen sind ganz gut. Preisleistungsverhältnis persönlich nicht gerechtfertigt für diese Qualität.

Es ist immer wieder schön und lecker dort essen zu gehen. Die Mitarbeiter/innen sind einfach nur sehr, sehr freundlich und zuvor kommend. Auch wenn man kein Fleisch oder Fisch essen möchte wird einem geholfen und ein Menü zusammen gestellt. Danke schön für diesen schönen Abend

One of the worst Greek or Greek-German restaurants where I've ever eaten. Food was a disaster. The meat was too grilled, without salt, without taste. Gyros was like Gummi without the proper spices. The side-dish salad was the only thing that I was able to eat.

Essen war gut! Bedienung war top! Ambiente O.K.

Nicht zu empfehlen! Kamen gegen 17.30 Uhr ins Restaurant und dürften uns einen Platz aussuchen, da das Lokal komplett leer war. Uns wurde recht schnell die Karten gegeben und die Getränkebestllung wurde aufgenommen. Als die Getränke kamen und wir unsere Essensbestellung aufgeben wollten wurde uns gesagt dass die aküche erst in einer halben Stunde öffnen würde. Warum gibt man eine Öffnungszeit an, wo die Küche noch gar nicht auf hat? Die Weingläser bei der Vorspeise erinnerten sehr an Weingläser aus der Dose und wurden auf Tzaziki serviert. Fand ich sehr komisch und unpassend. Dazu gab es Brot. Der Hauptgang kam dann auch schnell. Die Nudeln waren wirklich lecker, aber die Portionsgröße für den Preis war unangemessen. Die Leber war okay. Ambiente hat uns gar nicht gefallen, wirkt billig.

Ein wunderschönes Restaurant, von außen nicht zu erkennen drinnen aber super. Toller Service u sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit nur zu empfehlen.

Abwechslungsreiche Speisekarte, sehr freundliches und professionelles Personal. Reservierung ist zu empfehlen. Mahlzeiten sehr reichhaltig. Käseburger als Vorspeise top. Kommen gerne wieder.

Typisches griechisches Restaurant! Leckere Speisen und nettes Personal!

Das Essen war lecker. Wir hatten beide ein Schnitzel mit Pommes bestellt. Ich persönlich finde das Sitzen im Restaurant allgemein sehr eng. Preis-Leistung aber durchaus in Ordnung.

La comida estaba muy buena y el servicio muy agradable.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal dort essen, nach einem schönen Spaziergang am Benrather Schloß. Ich muss sagen das Ambiente ist wirklich schön, aber das Essen war eine absolute Katastrophe, wir hatten alle einen Gyros Teller und das Fleisch war abartig. Hart, trocken und der Geschmack hatte absolut nichts mit griechischen Gyros zu tun, wir haben es auch alle nicht gegessen und bezahlt werden musste trotzdem. Ich weiß nicht wie das andere essen dort schmeckt aber ich kann nur abraten einen Gyros Teller zu essen.

Wir bereuen es heute da gewesen zu sein! Eine sehr unprofessionelle Bedienung! Kurz und knapp.. wir haben ein sehr schlechtes Bild.. Schlechte Bedienung und dazu ewig auf das Essen gewartet. Diese Arbeit gibt's mit dem Oktay nicht! Irgendwie haben wir das Gefühl, dass nur dieser Mann alles im griff hat und Alles gut organisiert! Dieser Mann muss dringend zurück vom Urlaub !! Sonst ist es nicht lange bis Palmenhaus, auch für uns, gestorben ist.

Leider war das Fleisch auf den Grilteller etwas zu trocken - bzw. fest.

Also ich verstehe nicht, wie man derart auf das Personal rumhacken kann. Bei der heutigen Zeit muss man leider Abstriche machen. Jeder weiß, dass Personalmangel herrscht. Die Bedienung (Kristina und die anderen inklusive der Geschäftsleitung) geben wirklich ihr Bestes und sind in meinen Augen immer sehr freundlich. Jeder hat mal einen nicht so guten Tag! Wenn man mal was warten muss, ist es nicht gleich ein Weltuntergang. Es ist noch niemand verdurstet. Auch wenn es im Außenbereich nicht immer astrein sauber ist, kann man ja mal freundlich darauf hinweisen. Finde ich nicht schlimm... Das Essen schmeckt mir persönlich sehr gut und die Portionen sind völlig ausreichend. Werde, wie seit vielen Jahren, das Restaurant immer wieder gerne besuchen.

Wir waren bisher fünfmal hier, entweder weil wir woanders keinen Platz bekommen haben oder jemand im Verwandtenkreis eingeladen hat. Pro: -man bekommt fast immer einen Tisch, auch wenn nicht reserviert war. -schneller, freundlicher Service -schönes Ambiente Contra: -klebrige Tische im Außenbereich und unbequeme Stühle -lauwarmer Ouzo -staubtrockene Pommes -wenig Geschmack bei Zaziki und Fleischgerichten -Im Bifteki sucht man vergebens nach Käse -Fleisch zu trocken, zB bei Gyros Fazit: Es geht besser.

Rinderfilet bestellt (durch), roh erhalten. Es wurde sich entschuldigt und gesagt, dass das auf keinen Fall bezahlt werden muss. Am Ende war es mir auf der Rechnung. Einfach verrückt 😅

Heute mal wieder da gewesen und wir können nur sagen TOP. Obwohl das Restaurant sehr voll war wurden wir durch die Bedienung am Tisch 35 sehr schnell freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient. Respekt vor der Leistung der jungen Dame Kristine bei dem Streß solch einen Überblick zu bewahren. Die gesamten Bewertungen sprechen für sich.

Gemütlich, freundliches Personal

Geeignet für alle Gelegenheiten.

Mitten im Zentrum von Benrath liegt das Palmenhaus. Sehr schönes Ambiente im Restaurant selbst und im Biergarten. Die Speisenkarten bietet klassisch bürgerliche und griechische Gerichte. Die Mitarbeitenden sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, die Preise sind angemessen und das Essen ist richtig lecker. Der Zugang ist barrierefrei und Parkplätze stehen im Umfeld zur Verfügung. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Wieder ein super schöner Abend mit leckerem Essen und dem besten Team. Immer wieder gerne.
