Nice restaurant, beautiful location.

We had a good lunch here, fish fillet was a great meatless option.

The food was good, a bit over-the-top; a little more down-to-earth approach would have been nice. The wine was very good.

Oxymoron is a fantastic spot for brunch in Berlin. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, with a relaxed but lively vibe. The food is consistently excellent, with generous portions and creative, well-executed dishes. Everything tastes fresh and carefully prepared. The service is friendly and efficient, even when the place is busy. It’s very popular for a reason, so there can be a wait, but it’s absolutely worth it. A great place to start the day.

In times of poor service, unfriendly staff, bad food, etc., this restaurant is a true exception! The food was sensational (I've never eaten such delicious Brussels sprouts), the service was extremely courteous, attentive, and friendly, and the ambiance is exactly what you'd expect from a nice Berlin restaurant. And all this at very reasonable prices. Truly impressed. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

We only stopped at Oxymoron for a beer and were completely satisfied. The beer was delicious, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Everything was perfect, and it was a great place to stop for a quick drink!

ATMOSPHERE: Elegant decor inside, nice outdoor seating in a courtyard setting. BEVERAGE: Berliner Beer Good with a light taste. FOOD: Ravioli Delish. Chantrells, truffle oil & pecorino cheese. Risotto Avoid. Done with arborio green peas, leek, broad beans, parmesan cheese & pig. It was tasteless, sauceless, and the risotto was undercooked. OVERALL: We had a nice time with our local friends. Maybe we ordered the wrong food, but that's what we were craving and were disappointed.

Breakfast that goes a long way.

This is our go to place in Berlin. The atmosphere taking us back to the height of 1920s. The Egg Benedict is a must for breakfast, and the pasta with summer truffle is 10/10 for late lunch. The staff is friendly and always aware of our needs, but never pushy

Delicious scrambled egg combinations for breakfast. Perfectly roasted and prepared coffee, and friendly and attentive service. What more could you want?

A very disappointing experience. We wanted to eat and drink something here today. We had already picked up ice cream from across the street with our son and wanted to sit down and order something at the same time. This wasn't possible. The server was very rude and asked us to leave. Even the warning that we wouldn't be back seemed to be ignored. I understand that not everyone should just sit there. But we wanted to eat and drink there, especially since only a quarter of the tables were occupied. We can't recommend this restaurant and won't be returning. Friendliness and service orientation are different!

Location and service were top-notch. Unfortunately, I have to deduct a point for the portion size. For €16 per salad, I expect a bit more. And I really didn't like the Berliner Weisse in a lemonade or water glass.

Good drinks, knowledgeable staff

Very tasty food, attentive and friendly service, especially on a very busy summer evening. Naturally, the price is on the higher end, but it's worth it. It's Rosenthaler Höfe, and restaurant prices have been rising anyway. But it's still okay, though the drinks are borderline expensive.

The location is everything. On top of everything, soup, cappuccino, and service are also great.

The Oxymoron exudes a very pleasant warmth; the decor and the location in the Hackesche Höfe make it elegant and homey. The prices are quite high for small portions, but so many things have become more expensive these days, and for me, it's enough. Everything tastes wonderful, too. I've been there several times (with and without companions), but I always felt very condescendingly treated by the same waitresses. Perhaps my blazer didn't look expensive enough, and my friendliness and the tip apparently didn't count. It's a shame; I would have liked to be a more frequent customer, but this kind of social distinction makes every visit less enjoyable.

Very tasty food - a little too expensive

After the menu was brought to me rather quickly, nothing else happened. I then asked if I could order and was rather harshly dismissed. After I finally ordered a drink, it was shoved in my face without any decoration or care. I was then even pressured to tip. All in all, arrogant and snotty. Not recommended. - However, there are said to be people who have eaten well there and were satisfied with the service. 🤷‍♀️

The staff was very unfriendly. I ordered the risotto but i’m sorry that was just normal white rice?? The rice wasn’t even fully cooked too. When I told them, the waiter picked my food up without saying something and walked to the kitchen. 5 minutes later i got the same thing but with more bouillon sauce so it covered the rice up 😂. He didn’t say anything. I don’t care if something goes wrong, but at least check in with your customer. Just felt like they didn’t care. The food that my family ordered was fine. Still would not recommended.

Went there for dinner. Great food, amazing service and excellent drinks. Absolutely loved it. It's on the pricey side but worth it.

Whenever we're in Berlin, we always come here for breakfast. I love this place – great atmosphere (inside and out), exceptionally friendly service, and a wonderful breakfast! You can't start the day any better...

We stopped by for cake. It's a very nice location and therefore a lovely atmosphere. The cake is a bit on the expensive side, but it's organic and delicious!

A group of five ordered an afternoon aperitif. We had to wait an unusually long time for our order, the drinks to be delivered, and the bill. After paying, the manager complained that we hadn't tipped enough. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it! Beautiful courtyard in a central location.

We wanted to have a pre-dinner cocktail and the place looked great! Well, we sat down, the waiter came over with menus, and then we waited. And waited. And waited. The staff went to several other tables doing this and then that. And never came to take our order. After a long while we left. Menus still on table. Don't want to waste my time (or my money) at a place where they can't get their ducks in order. Go elsewhere.

Waiter shouted at my son for grabbing a chair from another table even though he asked the seated ladies if he could use it beforehand. We ordered 2 drinks and rounded the sum up by 1€ and he told us to never come again.

We had an exquisite evening here. The food was exceptional and very tasty. The service was exemplary and we couldn’t fault a thing. We would particularly like to thank Tom whose courtesy and warmth made tge evening extra special.

Wow, that's Berlin snark at its most unfriendly. I was there with two friends, and we were treated incredibly unfriendly by the waiter. I haven't experienced anything like that in years. It was absolutely clear: no matter whether I'm friendly or not, the place is always full. Actually, in the age of Google reviews, that's not really the case anymore. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.

Everything is very relaxed. But expensive prices (cappuccino €4.6) and unfortunately no glass of water. With such a price and an “upscale” restaurant there could be something more.

Recently, my friends and I visited Oxymoron in Berlin, and our experience was excellent. The restaurant is located in one of the beautiful inner courtyards of Hackescher Hof, very close to Hackescher Markt station, making it easily accessible while still being quiet and away from the crowds. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful, elegant, and cozy atmosphere. The interior is spacious, with a unique blend of modern and classic styles, creating a relaxing ambiance. The service was impeccable – the staff was friendly, quick, and always ready to recommend dishes and wines that suited our tastes. The menu offers European and Central European flavors with interesting Asian influences, which immediately caught our attention. We ordered a variety of dishes, all of which were well-prepared, made with fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented. I personally tried the risotto, which was outstanding, with a velvety texture and a perfect balance of flavors. We were also particularly impressed by the vegetarian and vegan options, which were excellent and lacked nothing in taste. The wine pairing suggested by the staff complemented our meal perfectly, enhancing our overall experience. The prices were absolutely reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. We left completely satisfied, both with the meal and the atmosphere. If you find yourself in Berlin and are looking for high-quality food in a beautiful and comfortable setting, Oxymoron is definitely a place worth trying!

We were there spontaneously as tourists - two adults, one child. After our arrival was watched suspiciously from the counter, we were asked to please store our backpacks, which had been placed slightly (!) in the area of ​​the free neighboring table, on the aisle side. They wanted someone to be able to sit at the next table. However, tripping hazards in the hallway are obviously less of a problem. After the unpleasant observation before, the strange feeling was perfect and we left. Too bad. Luckily the restaurant around the corner was warmer.

Rote Beete Risotto, Spinat, Meerrettichcreme, frischer Spinat und Fleich/vegetarisch. Es war mega lecker, sehr raffiniert abgeschmeckt. Das Verhältnis zu Säure, Salzigem und Süße stimmte vollends. Wir kommen beim nächsten Berlinbesuch wieder.

Nice place, but I lost my humor when paying - ordered soup for 10, very small portion, but that's not the problem. The waiter asks do you want some bread with it, I like to say that there are 4 thin small slices of bread - the cost is 8 euros - that's well, I can't think of a friendly expression for it.

A very nice restaurant with excellent dishes. I've been there for years to enjoy the warm ambience. The spinach bread dumplings were incredibly good, with a variety of ingredients, mushrooms, shallots and much more. Service very friendly and patient. We would love to come back!

We are vegan and first we ordered the vegan plum soup, then the vegan seasonal Christmas dish, a matcha brownie dessert with vegan ice cream. Culinarily it was an interesting experience with excellent service. It is important to warn that the quantities are small and that the vegan options do not have a protein source. The matcha brownie is worth the visit. The decaf espresso coffee was amazing. Thank you very much 🌱

Fantastic food, superbly cooked and seasoned. The service is pleasant and the atmosphere is lovely: everything just fits! Unfortunately I have to delete a star again. I was there again today. The chestnut soup was successful, but unfortunately the lasagne was not: it was completely over-seasoned, probably made with a Thai, very salty, inexpensive shrimp paste. When it comes to the oxymoron, it really depends on which chef wields the wooden spoon...

An all-round successful atmosphere…

It's a beautiful place but they have incredibly rude staff. Was there with a friend after shopping on 7th November 2024 and went for a tea and were hoping to get some food since it was a nice looking resteraunt the staff member with tattoos was incredibly hostile and rude to us. We finished the tea but given how we had been treated did not order more and for the first time in our lives did not tip. Would not reccomend at all.

Bad service and unpleasant atmosphere. Definitely don't come back

I wanted to have lunch here with my 2 adult sons, but they received a warm welcome. The only question before we were assigned a table was whether we wanted to eat or just have a drink. There was no need for a good afternoon or a welcome. After we had been assigned a table, the menus were thrown on the table and no one laughed. The fun was over for us and we left without eating. In other words, the atmosphere was very substandard.

Nice location, a pity that ordering was so difficult and the prices on the menu were not used, probably because I did not pay in cash. By the way, the drinks etagère is overpriced for what you get!!

Wir wollten mit unseren Enkeln einen schönen Nachmittag niveauvoll im Oxymoron bei gutem Essen ausklingen lassen. Der Kellner, der uns zwischendurch behandelte(bedienen wäre das falsche Wort!), tat alles, um dies zunichte zu machen. Auf unsere Frage, warum man in einem fast leeren Retaurant so lange auf Getränke zum Essen warten müsse, führte ihn zu einem kleinen cholerischen Anfall, in dem auch die Fäkaliensprache ihren Platz hatte! Er war hier völlig fehl am Platze, womit dann auch ein schöner Tag einen bitteren Nachschlag hatte! Unsere Enkel waren auch etwas verwirrt! So etwas in dieser Preisklasse und renommierten Gegend geht gar nicht...!

ATTENTION: This restaurant doesn't want everyone and families with children are probably not good enough for this location! We - three adults and three children - pushed two of the many free tables together and were about to sit down in a cozy café when we were brushed off in an extremely rude manner with a flimsy reason. The way the waiter treated us was particularly annoying: I felt like I was being treated in an absolutely condescending manner and I don't know such a tone from places in the higher price range. Conclusion: Although several tables - both inside and outside - were free and there were no "Reserved" signs on the tables - we were actually not allowed to sit down outside. We had to get up again and clear the table. I told the waiter that instead of saying anything about an alleged "reservation", he could simply point out that children were apparently not welcome at this place. Nobody believed that anyway, neither me nor my companion and certainly not the other guests, who all noticed this unpleasant situation. Completely inappropriate behavior for a restaurant in this category. Especially in front of my children - impossible!

What a great place for a restaurant. I had visited the Hasselhoff Museum (LOL it was a hallway) and met up with my friends for lunch. Such a great location and the service was good, but the real winner was the people. There were people of all ages and lifestyles all in agreement that OXYMORON was the place to be. thank you!

I got the: - Hokkaido pumpkin cream soup / gröstl of Iberico pork / pumpkin seeds & -oil - Tagliatelle / chanterelle mushrooms / Guanciale speck / parsley - Apple pie cocktail My partner got the Linguine / prawns / olive oil / chili / garlic / salicornes and a dark and stormy. Everything was amazing. The staff were friendly, spoke English, and everything was perfect!
