Spacious, chilled out place to come with friends / colleagues - the menu is expansive with many options for food and drinks. If you haven't tried German lemonades before, I definitely recommend them if you prefer soft drinks - but there's plenty of beers on offer too. The schnitzel was fantastic!

I've been very disappointed since my last visit. I've always been here with larger groups before and was actually very satisfied, both with the food and the service. But alone on a Friday afternoon, with maybe five customers in the restaurant, you served me burnt pasta, didn't bring my drink until halfway through my meal (even though I ordered everything on the spot without looking at the menu), and ignored me at least five times while you carried the food and bills past me outside. Yeah.

Café Hardenberg is located directly on Hardenbergplatz in Charlottenburg, across from the TU cafeteria. Unassuming from the outside, it's a very large café with a 1980s feel inside. Very friendly service and a great breakfast. We had the cheese and Berliner breakfast. It was delicious with scrambled eggs, a seeded roll, and spread. The price was very reasonable. Unfortunately, the café was not very busy, and there was a lack of customers. You can also sit outside, but it's right on the main street.

What a gift to humanity this place is. Classic style with chandeliers and the works, super people running it and just awesome solid food. And very close to some of the best photographic art in Berlin 😎

An upscale dining spot in West Berlin. The ambiance is beautifully designed, reminiscent of a hotel, and the food is delicious, courteous, and the staff is friendly... I'll definitely be back soon!

I have enjoyed coming to Cafe Hardenberg for years, but recently the friendliness and competence of the service staff has noticeably declined.

Although we arrived about 20 minutes before the official closing time, we were greeted and served very friendly and were able to enjoy our drinks in peace.

A place with a wonderful interior and flair is a rare find in Berlin these days. My father went there back in the 80s, so you could call it an institution. A wide selection of good food at a fair price (for 2025). No trendy food, just down-to-earth and delicious!

The "Lumi-Lumi Salad" (halloumi with cauliflower, bell peppers, zucchini, arugula, potatoes, and sauce) was excellent. A large portion and great value for money.

I discovered it by chance and immediately fell in love with it. Good food and friendly staff who do a great job despite being understaffed. Respect!

The food tasted okay, but the shakshuka was quite runny. It shouldn't be like that. The service, however, was truly abysmal. The restaurant wasn't even half full, and yet drink orders were forgotten several times. There wasn't even an apology for this... a real shame, we probably won't be back.

We had dinner at Café Hardenberg and really enjoyed it. It’s a pleasant, relaxed place with a true Berlin vibe, located in an old building with high ceilings. The menu offers traditional German dishes at very reasonable prices. The waiter and bartender were both extremely polite and even apologized several times for being a bit slow due to the number of guests that evening — though, in fact, I didn’t feel any delay that would have affected our experience. A great spot for a cozy and authentic Berlin evening.

This was my second time here, this time with a larger group. The Café Hardenberg is great and definitely a “must-have” when you are in Berlin. Very good quality of food and drinks and great prices. The “icing on the cake” was and is our charming service. Thank you everyone in front and behind the scenes!

A spacious restaurant with a great selection of beer and traditional German food. Prices are reasonable compared to other places nearby. Perfect for large groups, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming — Highly recommended!

We had an omelette and carrot soup. The quality of the food was okay. Service: they refused to give us hot water in our thermos, even though they had a coffee machine with hot water. We waited a long time for the bill, the waitress ignored us and then said something in German, although we spoke English.

The salad in Hardenberg with fried potatoes tastes delicious. My companion had the schnitzel and thought it was good. We like the high ceilings and the pleasant guests. The staff is great. Always my pleasure.

A place for friendly drinking, eating and reading the newspaper. Where else can you find this in Berlin? The café has a long tradition, it is "French style" or "Paris style", but very relaxed and cozy. It should stay that way for a long time.

Nice enough place for a quick lunch and get together. I would not expect anything too special though. Menu was convenience staple food, the Currywurstsauce though was surprisingly good. All in all of you are not in business for a surprising meal its a well priced good alternativ

This café's best years are long behind it...so what, but does that mean the service has to be so bad? Man, man, man...and that near Kuhdamm 🙈 definitely not recommended for Berlin tourists (because it's too embarrassing) and otherwise...thank God there are alternatives!

Very exciting place that is a bit reminiscent of a Viennese cafe! We ate a gluten-free cheesecake that was delicious! Perfect for a Sunday followed by a visit to the zoo...

A restaurant next to the Concert hall of the Kunste University of Berlin. Advised for large groups, good ambience, the food is good, and they have beers and cocktails.

Very cosy Café right opposite the TU (University) Mensa. Expect many students during the day in a laid back atmosphere. Great food variety for reasonable prices. All the usual suspects from different breakfasts You can additionally adjust to Your likings, small snacks of all sorts to proper meals (eg Burgers, Currywurst, Salads, Deserts) and a lot of choices to drink (coffee, bear, vine, cocktails, homemade lemonade 👍🏻). Very friendly staff - don't hesitate to ask, in case overwhelmed by or lost in the choices. Always a pleasure to stop by alone or with friends and family. There is something for everyone! Enjoy

Cozy restaurant, also suitable for larger gatherings. Nice service, but sometimes seems overwhelmed. The food definitely has room for improvement. The toilets could also use an interim cleaning in the evening.

Very nice restaurant/café, with very good food and also very good breakfast. Prices are very fair. I had the Halloumi Hardenburger with Joopie sauce and tomato curry dip. Highly recommended, really good. The wedges with it are great! My companion chose the Brat-Shuka. That was also very good. I can also highly recommend the homemade lemonades, even if they are priced a little higher.

We ordered burgers over the phone with 2 sauces that were included. When the food was served on site, I noticed that a sauce was missing and ordered it. When I had paid the bill and was still in the restaurant, I noticed that I had paid extra for the sauce. I asked the staff. It was explained to me that I had ordered these afterwards and that there would be extra costs. According to the menu, there are 2 sauces for every burger. I only received one sauce. It was then discussed about an amount of €1.50. I would have liked an accommodation. Of course, we also had to give tips beforehand. I leave the restaurant rather disappointed with the first positive impression of the service. Too bad...

Café with a nice, cozy atmosphere and very tasty cakes. But the service really spoiled yesterday's visit. Two joys had been there for a while, I joined them after an hour. The waitress came, cleared things up briefly, but didn't ask if I wanted anything. Finally we were able to order. Our warm drinks took 25 minutes, my tea even took 50 minutes despite repeated requests. In total we sat at the table for two hours, one hour of which was spent with empty plates and cups. We would have liked to order something again. But no one came to clear away the empty dishes or ask if we wanted anything else. After two hours a friend managed to order a cappuccino. It was brought very quickly by the waitress. She took her friend's old cup with her. She completely ignored the empty dishes from the other four men. She also didn't ask, neither when ordering the cappuccino nor when bringing it home, whether the others wanted anything else. This service was disastrous to say the least.

The last time I was here was years ago. Not much has changed. Waitress very nice. The flat white was not good. Sorry guys, bitter, sour and expensive. That's not how it works.

I really like Café Hardenberg. I was there in 1991 and NOTHING has changed since then! You immerse yourself in an old Berlin world, somehow chic and with style and something special but at the same time simple and warm. I had hamburger and it was pretty greasy but the food is generally good/normal and the prices are very reasonable. Service super nice! The homemade lemonade is highly recommended!

This is an institution! This is a convent of old memories, and not just for students and former TU students. It is and remains a core size in Berlin and reflects the old cafe culture in Berlin before the StarBuchs and CoffeeFellows in test-tube charm. This is another real cafe with ambience. Good music, delicious cakes and a small but nice menu. People enjoy spending time here!

Spacious and therefore great in every respect - an institution between the zoo and the TU. The Camembert with cranberries was - I repeat - generous and sublime.

I've been coming to Café Hardenberg for over 15 years and it is and remains a classic! You feel like you're in another era there, but in a good way. 😊 The decor, the music, the menu… and such friendly service is also hard to find!

Cafe Hardenberg has always been a guarantee of reliable quality. In particular, the scrambled eggs for breakfast à la carte were unusually good here. The room is high and therefore never musty, but always free and stately, old Berlin. A traditional Berlin cafe with a solid offering at reasonable prices.

I stumbled on this place looking for a breakfast spot near a conference meeting space and it was so fortunate. Had a great breakfast here sitting outside and enjoying the weather. Staff and food were great. Coffee perfect. Two days later my wife and I wanted breakfast for my birthday so I took her here. I ordered what was described as a typical Israeli breakfast and it was a perfect 10/10. My wife loved her food and the restaurant as well. She went inside to use the restroom before we left and saw they had amazing cakes and a cool bar, so that might, she brought me back here after dinner for dessert. When we arrived it was the same server we had for breakfast that morning. We sat down, ordered a slice of cake (brownie cheesecake), and the bartender heard it was my birthday, so they offered us complimentary glass of champagne and put a candle in the cake slice. It’s so rare that service is genuine and food beyond excellent - this place had it all. Oh, and if you get a chance, read up on the history of the building itself. Such a cool spot!!!

A traditional Berlin restaurant with a very Berlin flair, excellent service, extremely friendly staff and low prices, especially given the special location. Every time we come here we have a great time. I highly recommend it.

We were there for dinner as a larger group. The portions were quite small. About half of the group ordered another main course to fill them up. I had the tagliatelle with ruccola pesto and feta. There could have been a little more pesto and feta on the pasta. The food tasted good. I had a homemade lemonade. It tasted too watery for me, so I've had better. The service was friendly and attentive.

Was there with work colleagues. My Schnitzel Förster style was unfortunately a bit tough, but still edible. The service was super friendly. The atmosphere inside is completely OK. The citizen's patti was a bit gristly and a bit over-spiced (some people like it, some people don't). Still a solid 6/10. Next time I'll try something different :).

Very pleasant lunch at this cafe with a broad menu in a Art Nouveau building. I had a flammekuchen (flatbread) and my companion a salad with roasted vegis and feta. Both excellent. They also have heavier dishes, snacks, beers, coffees etc.

Food was delicious and ample. Service was gracious. We went for expediency (rented apt for the week is near) and were pleased enough that we anticipate a return. I'm vegetarian and they happily gave me excellent feta cheese in place of meat. Grilled potatoes & mushrooms, varied lettuces, bread, all excellent.
