Cafe Hardenberg in Berlin

Völlig unterschätzt. Freundliches Personal und eine super Atmosphäre. Interessant, unprätentiös und cool. Könnte den ganzen Tag dort verbringen.

Ausgezeichnetes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, toller Service und gutes Essen.

Ein mir bisher unbekanntes kulinarisches Juwel, nicht weit vom Zoo, mit guten Preisen.

Hübscher Laden. Stilvoll. Macht Spass sich dort aufzuhalten. Schade jedoch, dass es nicht täglich Mittagstisch gibt, sondern nur an 2 Tagen die Woche (vorher checken!). Ansonsten gäbe es für Service auch 5 Sterne.

Hier ist es seit eh und je ein Ort mit Ambiente.

Heute war ich mit meinen Kollegen im Café Hardenberg essen und wir waren sehr zufrieden. Das Essen war lecker, frisch zubereitet und von guter Qualität. Besonders positiv sind die fairen Preise, die für das Angebot absolut angemessen sind. Hervorheben möchte ich außerdem den hervorragenden Service. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend, sodass wir uns während unseres Aufenthalts rundum wohlgefühlt haben. Wir hatten eine sehr angenehme Zeit und kommen gerne wieder. Klare Empfehlung für alle, die gutes Essen, faire Preise und einen ausgezeichneten Service schätzen!

Wir waren in Berlin zu Besuch und hier mit einer Freundin frühstücken. Wir fanden es wirklich super. Jeder hat ein anderes Brot gegessen und alle sahen sehr gut aus und waren lecker. Besonders nett war unsere Bedienung. Immer aufmerksam!

Saß ab 20.20h heute hier mitten im ersten Raum, aber keiner kam und wollte meine Bestellung aufnehmen. Nach 30 min. bin ich gegangen.

Mir gefällt die Atmosphäre in diesem Laden sehr gut, ich war schon oft dort.

Schönes, altes Westberliner Café. Lecker Essen und super Service. Leider etwas sehr laut wenn es voll ist.

Meist kehren wir hier nach dem Besuch einer Vorstellung im Rennaissance-Theater ein und das schon seit einigen Jahren. Das Speisenangebot ist vielseitig und überwiegend rustikal und bodenständig. Qualität und Portionsgröße sind sehr gut bei noch moderaten Preisen. Auch die Getränkeauswahl kann sich sehen lassen. Das Personal ist freundlich, aufmerksam und flott, selbst wenn es brechend voll ist. Das kenne ich auch anders. Nicht ohne Grund sind wir hier immer wieder gerne.

Schönes Café im alten Stil. Vermutlich Original. Frühstück an Auswahl groß und gut. Café war eine Enttäuschung. Schade.

Seit langer Zeit schon in Charlottenburg ein Kaffeehaus wie es sie in Berlin kaum noch gibt. Hier kehrt man vom Frühstück bis zum Nachtmahl ein, verbringt kurze oder lange Zeit im herrlichem und großraumigem Ambiente gegenüber der UdK an gleichnamiger Straße.

Waren hier zum Frühstück an einem Sonntag. Wirklich super leckeres Essen und sehr aufmerksames und nettes Personal. Sehr gerne wieder 😌

Essen war gut, Ambiente rustikal aber gemütlich. Service sehr freundliche und schnell . Kann ich gut weiterempfehlen.

Sehr charmantes Restaurant / Café mit viel Flair. Essen bodenständig u. lecker. Der Service ist unglaublich nett u. freundlich. Ich gehe immer wieder gerne dort hin.

Toller Ort, lebhaftes Publikum, fantastisches Essen, das einzige negative Erlebnis waren die verstopften Toiletten, was im krassen Gegensatz dazu steht.

Es gibt sie noch, die guten alten Dinge ;-) Seit Jahrzehnten unverändert und unverändert gut! Besonders super: Es gibt zwar Hipster-Food wie Shashuka, dass ja mittlerweile in keinem Neuköllner In-Laden fehlen darf... aber im Gegensatz zu diesen gibt es im Hardenberg auch weiterhin z.B. ein Bauernfrühstück!

Ein charmantes Café im Zentrum von Berlin

Sehr nettes Café. Optik innen im älteren Stil, angelehnt vielleicht wenig an ein edles Wohnzimmer vor 50 Jahren. Hohe Decken und dazu eine kleine Speisekarte mit leckeren Gerichten mit gutem P/L-Verhältnis. Hauptgerichte zwischen 10 und 15€ sind heute leider erwähnenswert! Ich komme sicherlich wieder, wenn ich in der Nähe bin.

Zentral gelegen, für größere Gruppen geeignet im historischen Flair

Es ist schön, daß es das Café Hardenberg wieder bzw. immer noch gibt und die Herren aus dem Balkan und die ebenso sympathischen Mitarbeiter es betreiben und somit eine alte West-Berliner Institution erhalten..Es liegt ja schön gelegen an der HdK bzw TU und auch nicht weit vom Zoo,.das.Ambiente ist nach wie vor toll und aus guten alten Zeiten. Die Schnitzelgerichte, die ich probiert habe, sind geschmacklich und preislich gut, der trockene Burger hingegen für fast 16€ zu teuer und der große Kritikpunkt liegt bei den Getränkepreisen, insbesondere Flaschenbier Weizen zu 5,10, das man in jedem Supermarkt für um 1 € kaufen kann, was ein Aufschlag von 400% ist für nichts besonderes (kein Faß!) ist einfach zu viel. Das kleine Bier für 3,80, die Cola für 4,60 ( das waren ja mal ehemalige 9,20 DM für eine Cola!!), da verrutscht gerade etwas in den preislichen Dimensionen. Und wenn den beiden Wirtsleuten es reicht, daß man wenig trinkt, weil es so teuer ist, dann ist das auch nicht klug gedacht....etwas mehr im Preis runter, dann bleibt man länger und trinkt auch mehr. Man sehen, wenn im neuen Jahr die Mehrwertsteuer runtergehen, in das an die Kunden weitergegeben wird. aber ansonsten, nettes Lokal.

War ein sehr schönes Frühstück mit sehr leckerem Essen, tollem und freundlichen Service zu angemessenen Preisen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Tiefkühlgemüse in Kantinenqualität für 15,90. Abgesehen davon, dass Rosenkohl, Zucchini, Blumenkohl, Paprika und Halloumi eine gewagte Kombination ist, war dieses aufgewärmte TK-Gemüse eine Zumutung. Service und Atmosphäre aber gut.

You absolutely must try the apple almond cake. It contains half a whole apple, the almond flavor is just right, and the cake itself is very moist and not dry at all. It's just sweet, so you'll need a bitter cup of coffee to balance it out. The paintings on the wall are Impressionist, which matches the overall style perfectly.

A very pleasant restaurant, very good food, very good service, only the ambiance is... loud. Very loud at times, so much so that even if you're sitting opposite each other at a table, you almost have to shout to be heard.

I have to say I really enjoy coming here. The service is great, the food is outstanding, and the atmosphere is simply fantastic. Highly recommended!

We had a company event at Café Hardenberg about two weeks ago. The waiters were incredibly friendly, the food was delicious, and the cocktails were even better 😋 I'll definitely be back several more times.

A traditional, central location. Close to the university, Ernst Reuter Platz, and Bahnhof Zoo. A chance to experience the old West Berlin atmosphere. The café feels like it's stepped out of time, with a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling, a large bar, and upholstered furniture. A quiet oasis in the hustle and bustle of the City West and a soothing atmosphere amidst the Starbucks world. The service was OK but not great, and the cake was OK too. I enjoy coming here occasionally for a business meeting.

A lovely, traditional café. It feels like it's been around forever, and that's a good thing. A must-visit on any trip to Berlin. Wonderful!

By far the best Kaiserschmarrn I've ever had in Berlin. 👍 Huge portion at a really fair price, and great, very attentive service. My wife and kids also had Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) and Flammkuchen (tarte flambée), both of which were also simply delicious and highly recommended. 👍 We'll definitely be back and are already looking forward to our next visit. 🤗

We were there for breakfast and it was really delicious and quite busy considering it was early in the morning. Nice staff and a great restaurant.

Spacious, chilled out place to come with friends / colleagues - the menu is expansive with many options for food and drinks. If you haven't tried German lemonades before, I definitely recommend them if you prefer soft drinks - but there's plenty of beers on offer too. The schnitzel was fantastic!

I've been very disappointed since my last visit. I've always been here with larger groups before and was actually very satisfied, both with the food and the service. But alone on a Friday afternoon, with maybe five customers in the restaurant, you served me burnt pasta, didn't bring my drink until halfway through my meal (even though I ordered everything on the spot without looking at the menu), and ignored me at least five times while you carried the food and bills past me outside. Yeah.

Café Hardenberg is located directly on Hardenbergplatz in Charlottenburg, across from the TU cafeteria. Unassuming from the outside, it's a very large café with a 1980s feel inside. Very friendly service and a great breakfast. We had the cheese and Berliner breakfast. It was delicious with scrambled eggs, a seeded roll, and spread. The price was very reasonable. Unfortunately, the café was not very busy, and there was a lack of customers. You can also sit outside, but it's right on the main street.

Everything was great, as always! My regular haunt for decades when visiting Berlin! I was there on July 12, 2025, to fortify myself for the RAVE THE PLANET demo!

What a gift to humanity this place is. Classic style with chandeliers and the works, super people running it and just awesome solid food. And very close to some of the best photographic art in Berlin 😎

An upscale dining spot in West Berlin. The ambiance is beautifully designed, reminiscent of a hotel, and the food is delicious, courteous, and the staff is friendly... I'll definitely be back soon!

I have enjoyed coming to Cafe Hardenberg for years, but recently the friendliness and competence of the service staff has noticeably declined.

Although we arrived about 20 minutes before the official closing time, we were greeted and served very friendly and were able to enjoy our drinks in peace.

A place with a wonderful interior and flair is a rare find in Berlin these days. My father went there back in the 80s, so you could call it an institution. A wide selection of good food at a fair price (for 2025). No trendy food, just down-to-earth and delicious!

The "Lumi-Lumi Salad" (halloumi with cauliflower, bell peppers, zucchini, arugula, potatoes, and sauce) was excellent. A large portion and great value for money.

I discovered it by chance and immediately fell in love with it. Good food and friendly staff who do a great job despite being understaffed. Respect!

The service is breathtaking by Berlin standards and really great in general. The ambiance is cozy, and the value for money is fair. Now if only there were a quiet outdoor seating area... ;⁠-⁠)

The food tasted okay, but the shakshuka was quite runny. It shouldn't be like that. The service, however, was truly abysmal. The restaurant wasn't even half full, and yet drink orders were forgotten several times. There wasn't even an apology for this... a real shame, we probably won't be back.

We had dinner at Café Hardenberg and really enjoyed it. It’s a pleasant, relaxed place with a true Berlin vibe, located in an old building with high ceilings. The menu offers traditional German dishes at very reasonable prices. The waiter and bartender were both extremely polite and even apologized several times for being a bit slow due to the number of guests that evening — though, in fact, I didn’t feel any delay that would have affected our experience. A great spot for a cozy and authentic Berlin evening.

This was my second time here, this time with a larger group. The Café Hardenberg is great and definitely a “must-have” when you are in Berlin. Very good quality of food and drinks and great prices. The “icing on the cake” was and is our charming service. Thank you everyone in front and behind the scenes!

A spacious restaurant with a great selection of beer and traditional German food. Prices are reasonable compared to other places nearby. Perfect for large groups, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming — Highly recommended!

We had an omelette and carrot soup. The quality of the food was okay. Service: they refused to give us hot water in our thermos, even though they had a coffee machine with hot water. We waited a long time for the bill, the waitress ignored us and then said something in German, although we spoke English.

This cafe has an incredible atmosphere. You immediately feel at home and you think, why am I not here more often? The food is really tasty.

A place for friendly drinking, eating and reading the newspaper. Where else can you find this in Berlin? The café has a long tradition, it is "French style" or "Paris style", but very relaxed and cozy. It should stay that way for a long time.

Nice enough place for a quick lunch and get together. I would not expect anything too special though. Menu was convenience staple food, the Currywurstsauce though was surprisingly good. All in all of you are not in business for a surprising meal its a well priced good alternativ

We had a comfortable cafe in a spacious space. The food and cakes are delicious. I guess it's also a hangout place for UdK teachers and students.

This café's best years are long behind it...so what, but does that mean the service has to be so bad? Man, man, man...and that near Kuhdamm 🙈 definitely not recommended for Berlin tourists (because it's too embarrassing) and otherwise...thank God there are alternatives!

Very exciting place that is a bit reminiscent of a Viennese cafe! We ate a gluten-free cheesecake that was delicious! Perfect for a Sunday followed by a visit to the zoo...

A restaurant next to the Concert hall of the Kunste University of Berlin. Advised for large groups, good ambience, the food is good, and they have beers and cocktails.

Very cosy Café right opposite the TU (University) Mensa. Expect many students during the day in a laid back atmosphere. Great food variety for reasonable prices. All the usual suspects from different breakfasts You can additionally adjust to Your likings, small snacks of all sorts to proper meals (eg Burgers, Currywurst, Salads, Deserts) and a lot of choices to drink (coffee, bear, vine, cocktails, homemade lemonade 👍🏻). Very friendly staff - don't hesitate to ask, in case overwhelmed by or lost in the choices. Always a pleasure to stop by alone or with friends and family. There is something for everyone! Enjoy
