Great food and great service, very friendly!

A complete disappointment. Despite asking twice, we still hadn't been able to order after 45 minutes (!!!). Numerous tables around us were either waiting for food or to pay. The food was so good last time, but we won't be coming back.

The quality of the burgers has declined compared to Otto's Burger. A burger with two vegan patties stacked on top of each other falls apart too quickly. This wasn't the case at Otto's before, because they only served one patty. The new Belgian fries don't go well with the burgers in my opinion. The fries at Otto's Burger were significantly tastier and crispier (because the fries were also narrower). The menu selection has declined: For example, I liked having a "Good Old Otto" on the lunch menu, just like Otto's Burger used to. Nevertheless, I'm happy that they also offer burgers on the weekend menu. The service is very good, but you can tell that the employees aren't happy with Ruff's new concept either, and I agree with that. I wish Otto's Burger was back!

I'm a fan – of Otto's and now also of Ruff's Burger. The place remains a cult favorite, and the few changes to the menu haven't diminished the quality. If you're looking for a relaxed place with delicious burgers (and fries!) and friendly service right in the heart of the Schanze district, this is the place for you. Plus, there's always good music playing :-)

I really enjoyed going to Otto's and wanted to give Ruff's a try. I was very disappointed 😞 The burger was only lukewarm and the fries were practically cold. I wasn't asked if everything was okay either while eating or paying. It's a real shame about Otto's, but I'll probably find a new burger place. Update from October 16: I sent an email six days ago, but haven't received a response yet.

So incredibly disappointed with this change from Otto's to Ruff's. The fries are significantly worse than they were at Otto's, and my beloved wasabi mayo is suddenly gone. The burgers haven't changed that much; they've actually gotten a bit worse. The homemade lemonades are also completely different, and milkshakes have been completely removed from the menu. What a loss, and this will probably be my last visit here if nothing changes :(

My favorite burger place in Hamburg!!! The location in the heart of the Schanze district is simply fantastic and has a really cool design. We had a Smash Burger and a Chicken Burger, and both were incredibly delicious and ready really quickly. I actually think the fries are much better than at Otto's, and the sodas were refreshing and delicious. All in all: fantastic! I highly recommend it. Note: I also really like that all burgers can still be ordered vegan/vegetarian or with beef. 👍🍔

Unfortunately, I can't say anything positive since the switch from Otto's to this place. Both the fries and the burger were lukewarm at best, which is unacceptable. When I go out to eat, I want hot food. The portion sizes could be larger for the high price; we weren't really full afterward. I personally don't like the menu change at all. There are significantly fewer vegetarian options, and my favorite burger is no longer there. I used to recommend Otto's Burger to every friend I knew when I asked them for a recommendation for a good burger place, because it was truly something special. Ruff's Burger is like any other mid-range burger with no identity and completely interchangeable, while the prices are high and the food is okay. I'm disappointed and won't be coming back.

I was in this store for the first time yesterday and bought a Caesar salad with chicken. It cost €14.90. Unfortunately, I have to say it tasted of nothing, and some of the chicken was raw. I can definitely recommend this salad, and making it myself would be a thousand times better and cheaper.

Poor service, several orders were forgotten. Some food arrived cold.

I preferred the old menu. Definitely more meat-focused now, especially with the new BBQ section. The new fries taste significantly worse, but many of the sauces are free. Prices are very similar. In my subjective opinion, the burger options aren't as well-chosen as the old ones. It tastes good, but not quite as good as before.

From veggie-first back to meat? This isn't just a change of approach, it's a betrayal of your own values. You're consciously choosing animal suffering over responsibility. Very disappointing.

Two of us entered the shop, sat at a table since there were no staff around, and waited 20 minutes before anyone noticed us. We were rudely accused of not having announced ourselves. If you're not supposed to find your own seat, a sign should be posted to that effect. We each ordered a burger and fries. The Smash Burger was okay, but the bacon fries arrived cold, as did the bacon, which looked like Play-Doh, and the cheese sauce.

Too bad. The concept has been completely changed. Wow, now there are four alternative burgers! And you've already lost.

I rarely write reviews, but I WANT to: the burgers are truly amazing! Otto's Cheese and Magic Mushroom (both with meat) aren't just standard fare for us, they're truly something special—very delicious. Thank you!!! We both agreed that the burgers were probably the best we've had in years.

The burgers were solid. We had nothing to complain about, but they weren't above average either. On the plus side, all burgers are available in vegetarian/vegan versions. The service, however, wasn't worth the name service. There was no friendliness or motivation evident; rather, you felt like you were a nuisance.

The portion of fries is huge, making it easy to share. The service is very fast and super friendly. The seating is comfortable and the place feels like home.

We stumbled upon this sandwich shop by chance, and I must admit it was a wonderful discovery. The place is run by super-friendly people who create a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Their sandwiches are large and tasty, and there's a wide variety of options, including vegetarian ones! Service was incredibly fast for a Friday night. The peanut sauce for the sweet potatoes deserves a special mention: delicious. I highly recommend it if you're in Hamburg and craving a sandwich.

Simply the best vegetarian burger I've ever had in my life. And I've eaten at Tommis Burger Joint, Gasolin, Hubb, Dandelion, Halifax etc. Both the veggie smash and non-chicken burger are magical. Highest recommendation from here. The only downside is that it's a bit cold in the room and the acoustics aren't great either, hehe.

We had burgers here for lunch with the kids. They were incredibly delicious, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful in selecting and compiling the burgers. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Fresh lemon water is complimentary, and the prices are absolutely fair. My smoothie was also freshly prepared and delicious!

My unfiltered burger connoisseur review: I liked the creativity of my Honey B Burger, however there was some - as Germans like to say: „pep“ missing. Perhaps adding something crunchy and/or spicy (or just an extra sauce) could upgrade the experience. Nonetheless plus points for the business‘ inclusive approach, their characteristic design and an unusually wide variety of vegan options for a flexitarian restaurant. Not to forget the very attentive service. All in all, I enjoyed my visit at Otto‘s and would be keen to come by for a second round the next time I‘m in Hamburg 😉

The menu is a little complicated and confusing. But the staffs were well behaved, even it was so busy day. The food was good and delicious.

For me, this is the best burger I've ever eaten. I had the Honey B, the original vegetarian version, as advertised on the menu. The fries were perfectly crispy and very generous. The homemade lemonade was very intense and incredibly delicious. I was there at 3:15 PM – just as the lunch special ended – which is probably why I had the place to myself and got my food very quickly. Due to shift changes, I had two different servers. Both were absolutely lovely and incredibly friendly. The only downside is that the place is 700 km from home.

Otto has several spots throughout Hamburg. This is has an easy convenient location in the Schantze. While I do enjoy the Burger for its size and toppings, ill opt out of the coleslaw, next time.

We were visiting Hamburg and discovered Otto's Burger on Schanzenstraße by chance. They have a great selection of vegetarian and vegan burgers – and even the meat burgers can be completely veganized. 🌱 We had the Mr. T Burger with a vegan patty and vegan cheese, along with fries – everything was delicious, fresh, and really well-seasoned. 🍔🍟 The staff was super friendly, cheerful, and we, as a queer couple, felt totally welcome and comfortable. LGBTQ+ friendly and highly recommended! Edit: The food was also very delicious on our second visit. The staff wasn't the same as the first time, and unfortunately, they weren't as cheerful.

The food is so good, be careful to not eat more than your stomach can handle. The place is a bit loud, when I was here there were some families with loud children. But the interaction with the staff was nice and the vegan pastrami fries amazing.

Absolutely average burger. However, if you compare it to the competition, you'll notice that you're unfortunately paying €4-6 more per burger here. Average service, although it's a bit odd when the waiter sits at the bar with his cigarette (at least it's not lit). Substandard sauces... All in all, the price-performance ratio here is unfortunately not good compared to other burger joints.

We went to this burger restaurant with our child today. The food was truly delicious, no doubt about it. Unfortunately, the restroom was dirty and slippery, which somewhat spoiled the overall experience. When packing the food, the waitress overlooked the fact that a piece of our child's burger was left over – it wasn't taken away. My child was quite disappointed. When I asked for it, the employee was friendly and offered to give me a small piece of meat for free. I politely declined because I didn't think it was necessary – but to console my child, I ended up ordering another children's meal. When we got back to the hotel and opened the takeaway packaging, the disappointment was unfortunately even greater: The salad and dressing were in a box with the uneaten fries, everything was soggy – even the bag was completely wet. If you happen to be nearby, it's worth stopping by. But if you drive here specifically, the slight disappointment is definitely noticeable at the end. Overall, the food was good, but the service and packaging left something to be desired.

Ottos Burger (egal welcher) ist defitiniv einen Besuch wert. Kommt vorbei & habt eine gute Zeit bei sehr gutem Essen, Drinks & sehr freundlichem Personal. =) =========================================================== I'm still grateful to this day that I was suggested to eat here! The burgers are vegetarian and also available with meat for an extra charge - but I would recommend trying the vegetarian option first! I didn't have a good vegetarian burger for a long time after I had my first veggie burger at Bibo Ergo Sum (Rügen) - that has changed here and I'm always happy to come back. The hamburger beef tasted like it was store-bought, and the texture was exactly like rubber. I think you need to take a course on how to make a proper hamburger beef. Other than that, the sauce and the bun were good.
