Otto's Burger Schanze in Hamburg

We had one of the best burgers we've had in a long time, with a fantastic atmosphere and great service from a top-notch staff. All in all, fantastic, full marks. Keep it up!

We had burgers here for lunch with the kids. They were incredibly delicious, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful in selecting and compiling the burgers. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Fresh lemon water is complimentary, and the prices are absolutely fair. My smoothie was also freshly prepared and delicious!

My unfiltered burger connoisseur review: I liked the creativity of my Honey B Burger, however there was some - as Germans like to say: „pep“ missing. Perhaps adding something crunchy and/or spicy (or just an extra sauce) could upgrade the experience. Nonetheless plus points for the business‘ inclusive approach, their characteristic design and an unusually wide variety of vegan options for a flexitarian restaurant. Not to forget the very attentive service. All in all, I enjoyed my visit at Otto‘s and would be keen to come by for a second round the next time I‘m in Hamburg 😉

The menu is a little complicated and confusing. But the staffs were well behaved, even it was so busy day. The food was good and delicious.

For me, this is the best burger I've ever eaten. I had the Honey B, the original vegetarian version, as advertised on the menu. The fries were perfectly crispy and very generous. The homemade lemonade was very intense and incredibly delicious. I was there at 3:15 PM – just as the lunch special ended – which is probably why I had the place to myself and got my food very quickly. Due to shift changes, I had two different servers. Both were absolutely lovely and incredibly friendly. The only downside is that the place is 700 km from home.

Otto has several spots throughout Hamburg. This is has an easy convenient location in the Schantze. While I do enjoy the Burger for its size and toppings, ill opt out of the coleslaw, next time.

Juicy burger variations, crispy fries, delicious onion rings, and other side dishes you'd hate to share – it was busy, but we also managed to get a spot spontaneously. Changing specials ensure burger love at first sight. At least, that's how it was for me.

We were visiting Hamburg and discovered Otto's Burger on Schanzenstraße by chance. They have a great selection of vegetarian and vegan burgers – and even the meat burgers can be completely veganized. 🌱 We had the Mr. T Burger with a vegan patty and vegan cheese, along with fries – everything was delicious, fresh, and really well-seasoned. 🍔🍟 The staff was super friendly, cheerful, and we, as a queer couple, felt totally welcome and comfortable. LGBTQ+ friendly and highly recommended! Edit: The food was also very delicious on our second visit. The staff wasn't the same as the first time, and unfortunately, they weren't as cheerful.

The food is so good, be careful to not eat more than your stomach can handle. The place is a bit loud, when I was here there were some families with loud children. But the interaction with the staff was nice and the vegan pastrami fries amazing.

Absolutely average burger. However, if you compare it to the competition, you'll notice that you're unfortunately paying €4-6 more per burger here. Average service, although it's a bit odd when the waiter sits at the bar with his cigarette (at least it's not lit). Substandard sauces... All in all, the price-performance ratio here is unfortunately not good compared to other burger joints.

We went to this burger restaurant with our child today. The food was truly delicious, no doubt about it. Unfortunately, the restroom was dirty and slippery, which somewhat spoiled the overall experience. When packing the food, the waitress overlooked the fact that a piece of our child's burger was left over – it wasn't taken away. My child was quite disappointed. When I asked for it, the employee was friendly and offered to give me a small piece of meat for free. I politely declined because I didn't think it was necessary – but to console my child, I ended up ordering another children's meal. When we got back to the hotel and opened the takeaway packaging, the disappointment was unfortunately even greater: The salad and dressing were in a box with the uneaten fries, everything was soggy – even the bag was completely wet. If you happen to be nearby, it's worth stopping by. But if you drive here specifically, the slight disappointment is definitely noticeable at the end. Overall, the food was good, but the service and packaging left something to be desired.

If you want a great veggie burger in Hamburg, then you've come to the right place. We were lucky and got a table without a reservation. The drinks, burgers, and fries were delicious!!! It's worth it! :) Keep up the good work, you're a great team!

Best smashburger in Hamburg. The food was 10/10, incredibly popular place which meant a bit of a wait, but was worth it. The burger was just 20% better than other places like Burger heroes. Will definitely visit again!

The burgers are vegetarian and also available with meat for an extra charge - but I would recommend trying the vegetarian option first! The smoky flavor was the highlight for us. The veggie burger ingredients and salad inside could have been a better combination in terms of taste and appearance. The drinks were relatively expensive. The service was good and the restaurant environment was large enough.

I'm a big fan of the burgers. The veggie parties are very good, and the Portobello mushroom is also recommended, BUT only 4/5 because they're out of Fritz-Kola. Instead, they serve Coca-Cola :(

The hamburger beef tasted like it was store-bought, and the texture was exactly like rubber. I think you need to take a course on how to make a proper hamburger beef. Other than that, the sauce and the bun were good.

One of the most mediocre burgers I've ever had in Hamburg. The hype is completely incomprehensible; there's a new superburger joint called Superbad right across the street. And the Burger Loft 300 meters away isn't bad either. Absolutely not a recommendation and a huge disappointment. Especially considering the exorbitant prices.

The hamburger was good, we preferred the restaurant's suggestion. The ginger lemonade was good as a drink. The waffle poutine was very good as a potato.

Otto's burger is one of our favourite places to go to for my colleagues and I in the Schanze. The prices are cheap around lunch time on working days (you get the homemade lemonade too). The menu is entirely vegan nowadays but you can get meat-based patties for no extra cost, which come in well done or medium variations. Note: every Otto's offers these two levels of doneness, but some of the Otto's restaurants simply dont do it and give you well done. THIS restaurant makes patties to order and with the correct doneness. The fries are nicely seasoned and crispy and come with a verity of options for a dip, of which I can highly recommend the parmigiano - or smokey mayo. Have a go at it alone or with friends if you're in the Schanze and fancy a nice burger menu. Super cool atmosphere, everything is different colors and mismatched while being beautiful and harmonious. The food is top-notch (burger, sauce and sweet potato fries) and the team is friendly and attentive.

Burgers are fine, service is unfriendly and slow. They didn't allow us to sit at a nice box-style table first because and that's fine it was a bigger table we were only 2, than sat at a small table with 4 chairs and they still came up to us and had to sit elswhere, although the place was more than half empty, so i don't understand why they didn't let us chose. We had to wait long for the food.

The music was a bit loud for conversation, but they turned it down upon request :) Great service even for 15 people, and of course, it was delicious! All vegetarian options can also be made vegan.

The place is okay. Unfortunately, it's almost always full, crowded, and, above all, very loud. Often, there are long waits. The food is usually quite good, though. But be careful when ordering! The food has ALWAYS arrived cold. I live within walking distance. The last time I ordered, most of it was inedible. When we asked what we could do, the response was VERY rude. I've been a very regular customer in the past, but I won't be coming back or ordering from there.

The delivery took over an hour instead of the estimated 25 minutes they called after ordering. Plus the delivery driver took 30 minutes to get the food from the restaurant to us (he probably had multiple orders with him) so our food was cold when it FINALLY got here... When we called to complain they where VERY impolite and basically told us that it's not their problem....

I had the Smash Chili Cheeseburger – highly recommended! Perfectly cooked patty, tangy cheese, and a pleasant heat. The fries with the chipotle dip – simply amazing! The dip is creamy, slightly smoky, and goes perfectly with the crispy fries. What made the visit special: The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and quick. I felt truly welcome – unfortunately, that's not a given everywhere. I'll definitely be back. If you love good burgers, this is the place for you!

Disappointment across the board – hype incomprehensible We tried Otto's Burgers based on the many recommendations, but were unfortunately disappointed. The prices are absolutely exorbitant: a burger costs €14, fries €4.50, ketchup €1, and a 0.33l Coke €4.50. We paid almost €50 for two people – and that was for a simple burger meal. We would have expected good service and a pleasant atmosphere. Instead, the waitresses were irritated and unfriendly, and the dining room seemed dirty and unkempt. This also makes one doubt the cleanliness of the kitchen. The quality of the food was okay, but by no means outstanding – and certainly not at a level that justifies such prices. We definitely won't be coming back and can't understand the hype surrounding this place. If you're looking for good food and friendly service at fair prices, you're better off elsewhere.

Not quite my taste – there's still room for improvement. We were looking forward to a relaxing restaurant visit, but were unfortunately a bit disappointed. The salad came with "extra crunch" – unfortunately, in the form of sand, which was probably due to unwashed vegetables. The burger would have had potential if the bun hadn't been so dry. And the non-alcoholic beer? Unfortunately, it was so tasteless that you could almost mistake it for water. Considering the quality, I found the prices quite exorbitant. Conclusion: Maybe we just had a bad day – but unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend the restaurant in its current form.

Mega burgers and co, everything super delicious! There were four of us there at lunchtime, with two smaller children. We were warmly welcomed and felt like we were in good hands. The adults had an Oklahoma burger (everything is vegetarian/vegan as standard, animal is available for an additional charge), fries (regular and sweet potato) and coleslaw. The ambience is also great; when we were there, around half of the tables were occupied. After we ordered, the food came promptly. Everyone was super happy😊 We'd love to come back!!

After the ambience of Otto's Burger and the previous reviews initially convinced us to eat there, we were unfortunately quite disappointed at the end of the evening. After we had to wait about half an hour to place our order, we then waited another ~40 minutes until our food came. We don't know if it was because we were one of the last orders of the evening, but the fries we were served were unfortunately quite sticky and tasted like they were hardly seasoned and somehow stale. Our truffle burgers were also pretty bland and not really recommended, especially for the price of €14. Maybe you would have had better luck with one of the other burgers or the versions with a meat patty... What should also be highlighted is the really nice atmosphere in the store and the opportunity to get water at the table there. The Cucumis Lavender Lemonade is also highly recommended, even if it comes at a price at €4 for 0.33l... All in all, in hindsight, we would unfortunately have eaten somewhere else, especially for the price.

The food was very tasty. However, it took a long time before we got that. We weren't served outside at all, so we sat down inside. We were forgotten there too. I think the concept is very good and I was very happy when they switched to veggie as the standard. However, it doesn't seem to be happening yet, because when I ordered I was asked whether I wanted a veggie or a “normal” patty. Just like in any other store. Too bad there is no menu.

The burgers are very tasty, and the selection between vegetarian and meat options is a good idea. The menu has many different options and the food comes relatively quickly after ordering. However, we waited very long to order. A female waitress said it wasn’t our table. A male waiter simply stared at us and walked away when we tried to wave him down. Finally a third waiter came and took our order. He was friendly and professional. A good burger doesn’t make up for a bad service experience unfortunately. We will look for other options next time.

Great burger, very very tasty. Cool location. The kitchen was understaffed, so we waited almost 45 minutes (at 9:30 in the evening) for the food. It can happen, information in advance would have been great. I would still go there again and again because the food is really great!
