Osteria Italiana in München

Visited a couple of times over the years and I have to say that, apart from it's historical attarction, it is a very ordinary reastaurant. Expensive with a certain amount of arrogance in the service... First visit we ordered duck which was rather incompetently skated off the carving board and across the floor in front of us! We were than nmade to feel as if it was our fault!!! We had to order a different main course as another duck would take too long so we settled for some rather unappetising dishes that, to be honest, were not something we would have normally chosen. To add a spectacular finale to the meal, the host offered us a complimentary glass of red wine which he poured from a bottle that other guests had left!!! Second vist the food was very ordinary with a distinct lack of choice on the menu. Won't be going back.

I recently went to this restaurant with high expectations, but was very disappointed with the welcome I received. As soon as I arrived, the manager was cold and mediocre. It seemed like the staff wasn't really interested in customers, especially non-German ones. We really have the impression that they are resting on their laurels, believing that their reputation will be enough to attract customers. If you like paying a lot to be treated with condescension, then this is the place for you! For my part. An experience to forget.

Had a very good Spaghetti algio e olio in my second visit.

Very nice and rustic. But unfortunately the portions are very small and expensive. There is also only wine and water, no regular drinks. But definitely a great restaurant for special occasions! But not for “everyday life”. The food was still very, very tasty 😋

We have been here again in the evening for a long time. Tried and tested quality, great food and very good service. It's definitely worth its considerable price.

It’s a legendary restaurant to be visited. Certainly needs to book ahead (my favourite seats are at the booths). Dishes are good, been visiting for years. Wines could be quite pricey compared to other restaurants, 5 people easy to be 600€+ with food and two whites. At the end they did offer us free grappa 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We found shards of glass in our drinks and the waiter offered no apology or help in the matter. We informed him we think we swallowed it and they gave no help. Horrible place with mediocre food

Even though we may not be the typical customers of this restaurant (we are younger adults), we were greeted very friendly and treated just like everyone else. The service is A1, the waiters are very accommodating, attentive and friendly. The food was wonderful and it really tasted perfect. The ambience is also beautiful, it is cozy, you feel at home and it is nicely decorated. Thank you for a great evening and I would definitely recommend it.

When you criticize the food, the waiter asks you whether you are having a bad day. The grilled fish we ordered came in a salt crust and was filleted in the kitchen. Maybe one side of the fish was put on the plate. When I order from the grill, I expect that too. There were virtually no vegetables with the steak. Audience is also rather difficult, the staff does not take action to maintain a pleasant atmosphere. We won't be coming back!

The total shown was €20 higher than the sum of the individual items on the invoice. We were forewarned and only then noticed it. Food was mediocre, service bad.

Despite bad reviews, we gave the restaurant a chance, the worse that every one of them was justified. Service absolutely bad and unfriendly. Food inferior, but prices utopian. At the beginning, bread was served without asking, we ordered more once and ended up paying for bread three times. Seems to be their scam. Absolutely embarrassing! Munich has much better to offer!

I didn't like it at all. Food was run of the mill, way too much sauce. Too salty. The best thing was the bread except for the burnt pieces basket. The 0815 Frati Rose was way too overpriced. The waitress was just as bad as the waiter. Espresso didn't taste good at all either. The place wasn't particularly clean either! There was absolutely nothing going on at lunch either! Once and never again: 0815y

I was very disappointed. Price performance is no longer right. I always loved sitting here in the courtyard. The food was still pretty good. But the worst service I have ever experienced. An unfriendly waiter, completely exorbitant prices for portions that were far too small. The restaurant only lives from the ambience. Too bad. It was our last visit.

The atmosphere is absolutely successful and authentic, but charging 27 euros for the simplest pasta dish simply has no basis in calculation, even if you take into account the best ingredients and the most elaborate preparation (as far as homemade pasta can even be said to be). There are certainly a handful of Italian restaurants in Munich that can offer the same culinary standard for half the price.

Slightly morbid, gnarled Italian veterans must live here, we thought...You can really have fun here and sink away until the night. Our dinner guests were a long time coming, so we had various prosecchi, no one had counted that precisely. The bruschetta was really with amore, the truffle pasta was a hit, also the classic spaghetti chili and garlic, the sea bream was also tasty, as was the mozzarella, something delicious. The Chardonnay was really excellent, and the red wines from Umbria also really impressed my Italian fan at the table. The football tips from the very nice and competent service team were extremely heterogeneous for Italy vs Spain. Very funny. Was discussed together for a long time. When it came to dessert, they worked their magic again and enchanted us. The shop lives its passion for good food, strong wines and great service. Thanks to “Little Italy” in Munich.

We ate here to celebrate my wife's day - on recommendation. Everyone was super happy, overwhelmed by the beautiful ambience and the nice, professional staff. The food was great and the dessert was the cherry on the cake. Delicious wine and service that you could only wish for elsewhere. Have two Menu's, one in English, one German. We we, as English tourists accidentally were given a German menu. We asked for an English ones and noticed the price was different on the English. There was around a €3-4 difference on each menu item.

The ambience is of course great given the long history and the quality of the food is at a very high level. But you will only get full if you take all the courses. And that is indeed expensive fun, even without wine. There is no beer or soft drinks, so the Osteria concept is implemented rigorously here. The mineral water is constantly being refilled, i.e. the next bottle is also being opened (similar to Kölsch consumption) - I find this symbol of a high level of service rather annoying at the table. The fact that at this price level another €2.50 is charged for the place setting completes the picture. We didn't leave really satisfied. For people with an unlimited budget I would give it five stars, otherwise only four because of the price/performance ratio.

I waited 40 minutes. on the card, only after I requested it did I get it. The food is not great for this price. The atmosphere and decor are quite pleasant.

The staff behavior was disgusting, the ravioli I ordered was just as terrible. The impression might have been different even though the dish was bad but the rudeness of the waiters spoiled it!

The ambience in the garden is fantastically beautiful and the wine list is impressive. BUT: The waiters are quite aloof, almost unfriendly and the food is really a disgrace considering the price-performance ratio. A Crema Catalana for 13.50 EUR??? I almost didn't recognize the Saltimbocca al la Romana on the plate...and it tasted rather mediocre...Our bill was 30 EUR too much. And the reaction to that was extremely unprofessional...no, we don't want to come over and get a Prosecco on the house because we've already paid for it with the 30 EUR...We just don't want to get the wrong bill, especially when we're 5 People have a 620 EUR bill and leave a 50 EUR tip.... For us it was the first and last time... It may be that the shop is supposedly the best Italian in town, but if you have any idea about the food and customer service then you'll probably go somewhere else.

I appreciate this is a historical place in a very nice area of Munich, however the food is very average. Service was on the worse side, it took multiple attempts to get a glass of Prosecco. It would have been 2 stars if it weren’t for the deserts, which were good. Starters and hot food were just not that good, especially given the price tag. I don’t think I ever had such bad tartar at that level of restaurant. Definitely not coming back.

Never experienced such a bad price-performance ratio. Food average at best. For this: €38 for a simple fish dish in a mini portion size that doesn't fill you up. You feel ripped off. We won't go there again, even if the atmosphere is actually nice.

Right in the center of Munich with Italian cuisine

Price/performance is just not right and that always annoys me. Good food has its price, but when the simplest ingredients in mini portion sizes for starters cost upwards of 25 EUR, then something is wrong. Especially since there is no fancy preparation when it comes to classic Italian cuisine. Nothing is cooked or fermented for 36 hours or whatever. Pan, olive oil, herbs...50 EUR + x. Someone is resting a lot on their history. May they be granted. And in Munich you find a grateful audience who have no idea about food, but who automatically think anything over 100 EUR is good. But I don't have to go there again...

Probably the best italian capuchino in the Munich! And historic atmosphere. Higly recomend!

Attentive service, but also a bit intrusive. Food is more than expensive and tastes not really exceptional - rather disappointing. A bit of artichoke with rocket for €25 is quite an announcement. If you don't care about money, you'll feel comfortable here - Munich chic! If you expect great quality for your money you should look elsewhere.

Very expensive for very very small dishes

The food is excellent (high price), the male waitresses are rather pushy, a little more friendliness would be recommended!

Great Italian restaurant in the midst of southern Germania. Everything is professional and warm. Expensive but better than most experiences.

What is special is the small dining room for around 20 people in the vaulted cellar, which can only be accessed through the kitchen.

Oldest Italian restaurant in Munich with great wine selection and true Italian food. Great option

Meiner Meinung nach der beste und authentischste Italiener Münchens und ich kenne auch die im Michelin und Gault Millau erwähnten. Der Innenhof ist einzigartig aber auch im Restaurant kann man das hervorragende Essen, die guten Weine und den kompetenten, freundlichen Service genießen November 2023 Waren nun schön häufiger hier und alles, was ich vor einem Jahr geschrieben habe, trifft noch zu.

Eine Institution in München. Altes, historisches Ambiente, sehr freundliche Bedienung. Das Essen, Filet im Salzteig, war sehr, sehr gut. Allerdings war auch der Preis gesalzen. Hier muß man 'mal gewesen sein.

Einfach nein! Geschmacklich zwar ganz okay, aber alles viel zu teuer. Dazu noch eine Minischeibe Brot, die nicht nur selbstverständlich einfach auf den Tisch gestellt wird, sondern auch noch entsprechend auf der Rechnung landet. Das ist zwar typisch italienisch, aber hier doch unüblich. Da gehe ich lieber zu einem der anderen Italiener in München.

Der Kellner prahlte förmlich damit, dass ein gewisser Führer mal dort gegessen hat, als wäre es etwas tolles. Kein SAFE SPACE für Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund und für queere Menschen. Haben uns sehr unwohl gefühlt… Nie wieder Osteria Italiana! 👎🏼

Leider eine insgesamt schlechte Erfahrung. Den Service haben wir als etwas aufdringlich und nicht sehr freundlich empfunden. Oliven wurden z.B. einfach abgeräumt obwohl wir diese noch essen wollten. Das Essen ist zwar recht lecker, für die kleinen Portionen aber unglaublich überteuert. Zwei von uns hatten die Trüffel Pasta, die laut Karte pro Extra Gramm Trüffel mit knapp 8€ berechnet wird. Als wir die Rechnung bekamen wurde uns klar dass wir für zwei mikroskopisch kleine Portionen Pasta alleine für die nie bestellten extra Gramm Trüffel knapp 50€ Aufpreis zahlen sollten. Man habe einfach mal fünf Gramm (italienisches Augenmaß) genommen. Leider ein No-Go. Ein Restaurant Besuch der sich leider ein wenig wie Betrug angefühlt hat. Positiv hervorzuheben ist der charmante Innenhof.

Trotz der eher negativen Kommentare haben wir uns heute Abend getraut und ich muss sagen, wir wurden nicht enttäuscht! Das Essen und der Service waren trotz voller Belegung des Restaurants wahnsinnig aufmerksam & gut. Das Essen war von den Primi über die Hauptspeisen bis hin zum Dessert überragend. Tagliatelle Bolognese und nicht wie bei vielen Restaurants Spaghetti - Tagliatelle waren handgemacht und al dente. Gerne wieder!

Klassischer Italiener. Die Pasta ist ganz großes Kino. Besser geht es auch in Italien nicht.

Leckeres Essen. Mittlerweile hat die Osteria ein Preisniveau erreicht, das ich nicht mehr mittragen möchte. Ich komme seit 20 Jahren regelmäßig in die Osteria. Leider paßt das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis nicht mehr. Ciao Osteria Italiana!

Eine unvergessliche Geburtstagsfeier! Ein tolles Menü in einem traumhaft idyllischen Innenhof mitten in Schwabing, die Stimmung kann selbst in Italien nicht besser sein. Alles war wunderbar. Vielen Dank nochmals für diesen kulinarischen, herrlichen Abend.

Das Rind in Salzkruste in der Osteria in München mit einem Glas Tignanello 2008 ist ein Gedicht. Auch die Arrabiata ist ganz passabel. Der weibliche Gast erscheint gehäuft im Pelz.

Überteuert und nicht aufregend,noch dazu pampiger Kellner und Wein wird sehr aufdringlich eingeschenkt.Das einzig schöne ist wirklich die Atmosphäre , wenn man das Glück hat im Sommer im kleinen Innenhof zu speisen. Und noch ein kleiner Tipp..... wenn ihr ein Kartoffelcarpaccio kopiert,dann macht es auch richtig,denn das was ich hier hatte, konnte man nicht essen!

Gutes Lokal, das Essen und der Preis passen aber nicht zusammen. Service war, je nachdem, wer sich zuständig fühlte, von passt schon bis gut. Das Essen; die Primi Piatti sehr gut, die Hauptgerichte ok, ziemlich kleine Portionen, die Nachspeisen gut, aber alles, für die grundsätzlich gute Qualität, deutlich zu teuer. In Summe haben wir an dem Abend deutlich zuviel Geld für die Qualität des Essens und Sevice ausgegeben. Ich fürchte das Lokal ruht sich auf seinem wirklich guten Ruf aus.

Die Osteria Italiana überzeugt mit einem schönen Ambiente und leckerem Essen. Auch die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder!

Amazing restaurant and great pizza! The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The toppings were fresh and generous. The ambiance was also amazing and as a group of friends we had an amazing time dining here. Amazing and friendly staff too!

Had a lovely dinner here after always having been at the Bar Osteria next door which i love. The food was very food, they have an amazing selection of wines and service is sort of elegant, while certainly not polished (a lot of water and wine got spilled by the waiters, seems to be an Italian restaurant thing). Food was good, though I found the portions on the small side for the prices. It was all good... The zabaione was amazing and so fresh.....delish. I will continue going next door. Prefer it a bit casual....

Always a special food/place/atmosphere

War hier mit meinem Freund Carlo Dinelli ,Ristorante Mugolone in Siena. Auch Er war sehr begeistert von der Kombination sehr gutes Essen, toller Service und leckeren Weinen. Ich freue mich schon auf die Zeit im Innenhof sitzen zu dürfen. Einer der schönsten in München Tom Wening🐥 Osteria Mugolone
