We were there for our 28th wedding anniversary and were immediately greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. The service was super attentive and very friendly. The food was fantastic, and the Kaiserschmarrn was divine. We'd love to come back.

I discovered this restaurant on Google Maps while searching for a restaurant. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately, I find the water prices here and elsewhere simply too high. Considering that it's no effort to bring a bottle of water and a glass to your table, the price of €7.00 is excessive.

Friendly service, the food was good. The price/performance ratio was also good. The fried potatoes were delicious and nice and crispy.

The restaurant is truly idyllically located in the old village center. From the outside, the restaurant looks very inviting, and the beach chairs invite you to linger. A glance at the menu promises good, standard cuisine at prices that, while not top-notch, are still more than typical bistro prices. Unfortunately, our experience was different. 1. We had to wait a very long time for the food (Sunday, around 1:00 p.m., moderately busy), i.e., more than 45 minutes. When we asked the wait staff about it, they replied that they had to cook the dishes and that the wait was normal. 2. The roulade we ordered (fun fact) was lukewarm on the inside, not hot. The sauce was indefinably slimy (looked like canned food), there was very little red cabbage, and the potatoes were industrially peeled, tasted bad, and unsalted. 3. The pan-fried fish I ordered wasn't hot either, the sauce was OK, and the potatoes were as described above. Overall, mediocre at best; poor value for money.

The best restaurant in Sankt Peter-Ording!

A truly lovely restaurant, you receive a very warm welcome, and even our four-legged friends were allowed to come along and get something to snack on. The food was fantastic, from the starter to the main course, simply amazing; I haven't had anything this delicious in a long time. A tip for everyone: the bread basket with dip for starters...the garlic dip was the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, I was too full for dessert, although that probably would have been very, very tasty too.

We absolutely don't understand the good reviews! The food was at best the quality of a takeaway, and far too expensive. We were really annoyed. The people at the next table were also discussing the subpar quality of the food. Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend it. The only good thing was the service staff, who were quick and attentive.

All around fantastic, every kind of roulade (beef/cabbage) was fantastic, herring was superb, and the children's menu included schnitzel and fried potatoes. The service from these two young men was simply fantastic. Friendly and competent, and you can tell you're having fun (SPO is looking right there, they still have it, yay). We'd be happy to come back, see you very soon, and thank you for everything.

We've always been satisfied over the past few years. On the day we arrived, we were looking forward to a delicious meal. The zander was dry and not freshly prepared. The mushrooms and braised onions were too black, and the potatoes were cold! A small suggestion for the restaurant: Please serve like it used to be!!!!

Fast and friendly service, very tasty food. Every year when I am in St. Peter Ording, I eat there at least once. You can see it in the picture. I recommend the cheese slice, which comes with baked potatoes and a small salad.

Please note the update from August 24, 2025. This has resulted in a star reduction from 5 to 3. Reservations were not made. The restaurant was empty. The music was not subtle and a bit tiring. Ordered the same meal for the third time and were so terribly disappointed. The cheese schnitzel was dry and tasted of French fry grease. The hollandaise sauce had dried out along with the cheese in the schnitzel. My lumberjack steak came in small pieces (has it ever been on another plate? 🤔 3/4 was sinewy and streaky with fat. I also told the cellarman that we were very disappointed. It ruined our evening. We didn't want anything new (which was offered to us) or a drink on the house. We just wanted to leave. So the owner can't be the same anymore. There's only one cellar left, which was probably taken over; the rest must all be new. So we won't be coming back here anytime soon. A local recommended the restaurant to us. A pleasant, cozy restaurant with friendly staff. Just as we hoped: an authentic ambiance with grandma's/father's taste and portions on the plate. Reservations would be advantageous in the season, as it's not just known to locals. Enjoy your meal and wish the restaurant continued good and satisfied customers. You could say, once upon a time! Overall, things haven't improved, and I'd say they've stayed far from the same.

Value for money - Adequate Unfortunately, the Olsdorfer fish platter, for almost €30, is only a child's portion. I don't think this is appropriate for the price. It's a shame, as the restaurant and the service itself make a good impression.

The service was good. However, the food was just average, which doesn't match the high prices. If the food were better and the quality matched the prices, we could recommend the Olsdorfer Krug. As it was, however, the tip was correspondingly small (which is a shame for the service), and we won't be coming back.

We had a coffee and a piece of cake and enjoyed our seats on the terrace in a Strandkorb. Suuuuuper delicious chocolate cake and incredibly friendly service. You feel welcome; everything was done with a smile and enthusiasm. Highly recommended!

We had Wiener and cheese schnitzel today. Large portions and very tasty. Very friendly staff.

With a bit of luck and good weather, we were able to snag one of the coveted tables outside in a beach chair for four at 7:00 p.m. We started with homemade bread and two dips as an appetizer, which already demonstrated the quality. The main course was absolutely convincing: a vegetable dish or steak with fried potatoes. The taste was absolutely fantastic, even though they didn't skimp on the salt. If you're looking for good German cuisine and value for money, this is the place to go.

Today we spent a lovely evening at the Olsdorfer Krug. The food was excellent, the ambiance cozy, the service team attentive and humorous, and the value for money was fair. Overall, the experience was like "eating with friends." It couldn't be better. Thank you very much.

The food was super delicious, and the staff was very friendly too 😄👍 The fried potatoes that came with the dish were served in a separate bowl. We were told to let us know if we needed more. Another portion of fried potatoes was brought to us very quickly 👍 Unfortunately, there was no salt or pepper on our table. When we wanted to look at the dessert menu again at the end, no one served us. We then went up to the counter to pay. The ambiance is very nice, though 🙂‍↕️

Not what it used to be. The service has been replaced by younger people, who are very attentive and courteous. The food has taken a turn for the worse for us. It no longer suits the Olsdorfer Krug. Flattened schnitzels, new presentation of the dishes, although we liked the old ones better. We came here regularly two years ago, and again on our last vacation. Everything was a bit so-so, neither whole nor half... What a shame.

The ambiance and service were good, but unfortunately, the food reminded us of a snack bar. We ordered schnitzel, and the meat was over-fried, dry, and not particularly seasoned. The topping for a schnitzel was braised mushroom onion. We were served two whole onions with about six mushrooms, which had absolutely no seasoning. Who would eat that many onions? The cheese schnitzel was just as dead, there was very little hollandaise sauce, and the salad was a joke. Both dishes came with unseasoned fried potatoes and were far too dry.

This was our fourth time in SPO, the last time in 2023. We've always enjoyed eating at the Olsdorfer Krug and have done so often. Unfortunately, we were disappointed this year. Firstly, a completely new team (for us). Yes, everyone was friendly, but very cold. Unfortunately, we didn't get that warm, friendly, relaxed feeling, nor the feeling of being welcome (as we know it). Very distant, cold, and not really interested in the guests themselves. Furthermore, we were very shocked by the prices! Yes, everything is getting more expensive. The first thing you read on the menu is how sorry the Olsdorfer Krug is about having to raise prices, that everything is getting more expensive, etc. In my opinion, it was a little bit like tugging at the heartstrings to add a few euros or two more. I don't want to read that - it takes away your appetite! The food itself was okay. Unfortunately, our beloved rice pudding is no longer available, and there's only one meat/fish-free dish left -> Very weak! Likewise, not all meat dishes come with a side salad. The portion sizes aren't enough if you're really hungry. I myself had a "large" salad with fried mushrooms for 20 euros. 4 or 5 large lettuce leaves, a bit of carrot and tomato, and mushrooms. 2 slices of white bread. THAT was a side salad. I left, and I was hungry! With three people, we paid over 90 euros for three meals and three drinks. What we also noticed was that far from all the tables were occupied. We're not used to that at the Olsdorfer Krug. We will definitely go back to SPO, but we won't eat at the Olsdorfer Krug again. It's a shame, but unfortunately, we didn't feel comfortable or warmly welcomed as guests!

We waited an hour for our food. Meanwhile, our wait was cut short when the waiter spilled apple spritzer on the table and our pants. This was extremely embarrassing for the waiter, who was very friendly. It can happen, but it wasn't that bad. Then the food arrived. My panfish was cold, and only two small pieces of fish lay lost on a bed of very good sauce. Unfortunately, the dish was cold. So were the potatoes. The kids' fries and the pike-perch dish. The meat with the baked potato wasn't hot either, but we were too hungry to wait any longer. They gave us new fries, and the other dishes came again. The pike-perch was okay, even if it was hard and full of bones. The small pieces of fish in the panfish were raw. I got a schnitzel with mushrooms instead. Unfortunately, it had no flavor, and the meat was substandard. As compensation, we each got a shot of schnapps. That was it for us. We'll be going back. Too few qualified staff for too many guests. And the prices weren't reasonable either.

Actually, it was just so-so. The waiters were very friendly, the atmosphere was quaint, but the food was rather disappointing and bland. Nothing that would convince us to return.

Nothing remains of the once traditional, cozy establishment with its local maritime charm and delicious local fish dishes and other specialties. Kitschy decor, interchangeable furniture, randomly thrown-together dishes, and brown, ready-made sauce on flavorless cabbage rolls have greatly disappointed us, decades-long fans of the establishment. The service was excellent – very friendly, very present, fast, and attentive! And the large hall is obviously well-used by local clubs and other groups, which is nice to see. Unfortunately, the manager was not available for direct feedback, but if vacationers would like to see the atmosphere and food restored to their former glory, we would be happy to discuss the matter with you.

We had a civil wedding across the street at the Museum zur Landschaft and were looking for a caterer in SPO who could organize a champagne reception in front of the museum. Then we contacted the Olsdorfer Krug. No problem at all. And that's exactly what happened. Thanks to Christian, our guests lacked nothing. Everything was as planned, and the quoted price was more than fair. We are very grateful that our wedding day was so fabulous, thanks in part to the Olsdorfer Krug.

We visited a cozy inn with a menu that also included traditional dishes. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff served us friendly and attentively. We were pleased with the opening hours and would happily recommend it.

We went to the Olsdorfer Krug because of the consistently positive reviews, and also because of the lamb rump, which is on the menu. Reserved the night before and specifically pointed out the lamb. By now, everyone can probably guess what wasn't available. The charming young man apologized several times, saying he had even noted it in the reservation book. I believe him, but unfortunately, there was no lamb on the plate. His explanation as to why...positive! Because they don't serve the guest anything if there's nothing left. So, okay. We decided on something else. To start with, a fish soup, which is listed on the menu as the "soup of the day" and can only be requested from the waiter. So far, okay. What I was served, however, was fish soup, phew, unloving, tasteless, and well, simply not recommended for €7.90. After I asked for salt and pepper and asked if the chef actually tasted what he served, I was told that the kitchen had refined the soup even further. So I wasn't entirely wrong about the taste. ;-) The main courses were served cleanly. The lumberjack steak and the fish were okay, but unfortunately nothing special. The side salad made my teeth crunch; it could have been cleaned more thoroughly. As an apology, I was given a shot of schnapps on the house. A great credit to the young man, and his service was truly top-notch. He also handled the criticism in a truly exemplary manner. Dear team...I'm not a complainer. But cook honest, home-style food. I consciously choose owner-operated restaurants and like to support them. But today it just wasn't up to scratch. The price of over €70 wasn't worth it. Probably a bad day. We're keeping our fingers crossed that things will continue to be more positive than today. Best, Ludwig the family

I (one person) got a seat in June without a reservation! The food was very good, just like last year. Friendly, attentive service. I'd happily return every year.

A very nice restaurant in a quiet location across from the museum. Overall, we were very satisfied. Unfortunately, the zander fillet's mushrooms were only lukewarm. We complained, and a hot replacement was delivered two minutes later. It happens sometimes. If there are empty glasses on the table during a meal, the waitress should be attentive and ask if you'd like anything else. Despite everything, we were very satisfied and can recommend the restaurant.

Great food, nice service, everything was top!

The restaurant is usually always full, so this year we wanted to see for ourselves. We had the Wiener Schnitzel and the Sauerfleisch (sauerfleisch). The salad came with a cool raspberry sauce. The service was really good, but the food didn't blow us away, so it will probably be a while before we try it again.

I would say this is the best restaurant in Sankt Peter Ording. The classic ambiance and super friendly staff immediately create a feel-good factor. The food was also perfect, everything was perfectly coordinated, and I can hardly wait to visit this restaurant again.

We've been coming here regularly for years on holiday because we've been impressed by the consistently good quality and the range of options. But this year it seems like a different experience. After the starter, an "asparagus soup" that tasted solely of watery asparagus broth, we waited a whole hour for our food. What came next unfortunately didn't make up for the wait: all three dishes were cooked for far too long, the main courses weren't seasoned at all, the side dishes were too salty, and everything was either not warm or already cold. The overall performance of the kitchen is unrecognizable :( The ambience also left a lot to be desired, with uncomfortable/broken chairs and partially faulty sanitary facilities. Only the service was completely convincing with friendliness, understanding, and effort. All in all, a real shame.

Great place, and the chef knows his craft. The main courses were excellent. We didn't enjoy the dessert, however, which the chef immediately noticed when clearing the table from the full plate. He took it off the bill himself – such attentive service is rare these days.

Unfortunately, no, as the service was very casual and too inattentive. Would have liked dessert and coffee🤔 The food was lukewarm and tasteless. The appetizer platter for two people was very poor value for money. The pan-fried fish was bland, lukewarm, and not very tasty. With parsley potatoes from a discount store bucket and no crab. The value for money is also not understandable.

I highly recommend this place. 👍Service is prompt and responds quickly to guests. We had the Olsdorfer chicken and the plaice. Questions were answered in a friendly and professional manner. The food arrived quickly.

I rarely tend to give bad reviews, but in this case, the reaction of the waitress (see below) ultimately prompted me to do so. The positives: The building is visually very attractive, both inside and out. The current owners took over and restored it just a few years ago and have clearly put a lot of effort into it. An attractive menu with many local dishes. A children's menu that could be cut out, although the first page was just a drop in the ocean given the wait time (see below). The negatives: Cool and at times difficult to understand service. The food was okay, but not commensurate with the high price. Both dishes were skimped on the sauce (and I'm not one of those people who likes to see everything drowned in sauce), which made them dry. The beans in one dish were partially burnt. The food took about 1 hour 15 minutes to arrive from the time I ordered. That's quite a challenge in the evening with a small child. A good restaurant owner or server can be recognized by the fact that this problem is addressed in some way. For example, (at least) through a proactive apology or (better) through a small appetizer/greeting from the kitchen, etc. What is absolutely unacceptable, however, is deliberately ignoring the problem and then, when politely addressed, becoming rude. Conclusion: There is some potential, but without a course correction, especially in service, I see no future.

We were very satisfied with the food. We had the roulade with red cabbage and boiled potatoes, and the chicken with beans, a side salad, and fried potatoes. Both were very tasty; you can also have more potatoes or fried potatoes upon request. For us, the portion size was perfect without us falling into the dreaded "food coma." So, it was just right! We were extremely satisfied with the taste! We would go back anytime, but our vacation is over for now... Regarding the comments in other reviews about the service, here you can be more relaxed than the endless questions about whether you need anything else and enjoy your vacation, but! A hand signal is enough and someone will come. We liked it because it allowed us to enjoy our meal in peace.

Always very inconsistent, which we don't like. We've been coming back since last year. Last summer, we could always rely on the food; it was always excellent. Now, it feels like everything is a bit off. Last night, it was okay; for the price, there were a few minor things... The schnitzel wasn't crispy anymore, and the fried potatoes didn't live up to my expectations, thinking back to the old days. It's a shame, you never know what to expect...

Food was good, we had the plaice and the panfish, both cooked to perfection, just missing a bit of salt. We asked, unfortunately there was no salt. The side dishes were also cold. We chose this restaurant for our 50th wedding anniversary and reserved a table early. We were really looking forward to the evening. The reception wasn't particularly friendly and we didn't like the table for two against the wall that was assigned to us at all. That's why we politely asked if we could get another table, especially since the restaurant wasn't very busy at the time. The winemaker's succinct answer was that all tables were reserved. We also made a reservation, we said, and were then assigned a table in the fireplace room. There were only three tables occupied in the fireplace room. The food was very simple, not very spicy and sometimes lukewarm. The portion of fried potatoes with the panfish isn't even enough for a small child. The service regarding the drinks left a lot to be desired. It was our first time in this restaurant and we definitely won't be back.

Because it was February, there was less going on and the menu was slimmed down compared to the season. Nevertheless, we received a warm welcome and were served very quickly. We ordered white tomato soup as a starter and schnitzel, roulade and pan fish as the main course. Everything was very tasty, sufficient and tasty, especially the roulade, like Mudder :-) We enjoyed it so much that we went back two days later. Let's see what it's like in summer when there's more going on. Most of the time the quality suffers.

We were there today with 3 dogs. We can highly recommend the schnitzels, super tasty and filling. Our dogs, like us, were well looked after and even received treats from the lovely employee. The ambience was also very nice, even though we were sitting in the so-called “passage room”. We will definitely come back.

Conclusion: Unfortunately disappointing. We were here last year and liked it, so we went again yesterday. There were five of us. The roulades were great, the portion of the patty was a bit small and not hot, the asparagus was poorly peeled and too soft. Unfortunately, there was no response to the information about this. The service was in parts very attentive and friendly and in other parts rather indifferent. We won't be coming back next year.

So-so-so. Reservation on Easter Sunday at short notice without any problems. Service was very reserved and reserved right from the start, you didn't really feel warmly welcomed. Attention left a lot to be desired. The food came quickly, but didn't really meet our normal expectations. We ordered the schnitzel with champions and the cheese schnitzel. Both dishes were served with fried potatoes, but we only got one bowl to share. Both schnitzels were very fatty and tasted like frying fat without any hint of any other spice, neither salt nor pepper. The fried potatoes also only taste like fat without the typical fried potato taste that you were so looking forward to. There was a minimal amount of hollandaise sauce on the cheese schnitzel and just enough cheese for it to pass as halfway gratinated. The side salad was ok, but with very very little vinaigrette. When I asked if everything was OK, I complained about my food and had it returned. The waitress responded acceptably and took a new order. The second dish (cabbage roulade) tasted good, the potatoes were completely overcooked, the meat filling was quite small. We definitely won't be coming back here again. Too bad.

It was our first time eating at Olsdorfer Krug...even though we hadn't made a reservation and just wanted to eat something spontaneously, we were assigned a table. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and very accommodating...even the plates were warmed up, something you don't get in many restaurants. The waiting time wasn't long either. We can definitely recommend this restaurant and will eat there again.

We were guests in this location for the first time. The quality of the food is really good and the quantity is sufficient. The price-performance ratio is right. The staff is friendly and very hard working. The ambience can certainly still be worked on, but it's completely fine. You should definitely make a reservation, especially in high season. We can definitely recommend the restaurant.

Very nice modern restaurant, great service. Unfortunately the side dishes (3 small half potatoes) weren't nearly enough. My wife had hardly any holondaise sauce on her cheese schnitzel. I think it's a shame these days when you spend €55 for two people and both people aren't really full. Too bad. Tastes great.

We ate there twice - the first time we had schnitzel and sour meat, which was really good, and the second time we had the plaice and the saddle of lamb. The plaice was very watery and the saddle of lamb was very clear and mostly very well done. Complaint was noted.

Very nice shop, friendly service and delicious food

Unfortunately, despite reservations and the announcement of a larger group, many dishes on the menu were not available. No kale, no duck, no game dishes, no roulades either. You didn't even want to ask anymore. The friendliness of the staff didn't help either. It's a shame that this wasn't announced beforehand, because you don't have to travel there for schnitzel with fries...!

All four people were very satisfied with the different meat and fish dishes and the very tasty fried potatoes. The German cuisine is tasty and attractively served by friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere.

We cannot understand the positive reviews. It takes 30 minutes to drink, although moderately attended. My food (roulade) cold and dry, red cabbage lukewarm. My wife's fish was very dry and only lukewarm. A partial warm-up was offered, but then the other part of the food would have become cold again. So I ate and didn't go back. Too bad.....

We were so looking forward to a lovely evening. Unfortunately my wife was brought the wrong food. Let both go back because we wanted to eat together. When both arrived, mine was cold (probably from the first service). So I didn't eat anything. There was no real explanation. End. It was definitely bad luck, because I think everyone around us was happy. The starter was great, nodic tapas.

Food did not meet our expectations in any way. There is room for improvement here. At least on the day we were there (group)

Very nice staff. The food was excellent and there was a lot of it too. We'd love to come back.
