OLD bank in Karlsruhe. 2.2025 The Alte Bank is a restaurant with a bar and a very large beer garden right in the center of Karlsruhe. And this is in a very nice place with lots of trees that provide shade for the beer garden. There are enough parking garages and parking options. The Alte Bank is also very easy to reach by public transport. The location is modern but comfortably furnished. The large windows give you enough space to look over the square. Everything is also very well maintained. The FOOD here is very 👍🏻 good. The selection of drinks is large. The staff is very nice and attentive. There are also events here, which are very well received We'll be back...as we often do. ;-) Greetings Alexander

I only recommend the place to a limited extent. The ambience is beautiful, service was good. Unfortunately the breakfast was disappointing. Too little, loveless and very expensive. Also the drinks. Unfortunately. I'll still come back to try the evening menu. Because the rooms are great.

The food and service are excellent. The noise level is a bit loud due to the high ceilings.

We had dinner in the “Alte Bank” before the theater. Unfortunately my food was cold, so the waitress took it away to warm it up. There were no spices on the tables for seasoning either. And the dessert (hot love) had too little raspberry sauce and it was already spread and not warm!! Price/performance: Prices for KA are okay, but you can still work on the performance!!

We reserved a table in advance, no table ready when we got there and only noticed our reservation when we asked. Had to sit upstairs, more a waiting area than dining area. Rather expensive for what you get. I had a Pinsa and can 100% say it was a frozen Pinsa warmed up in the oven. €16! Even the salami wasn't salami, was Sujuk.. Mushrooms looked like few days old and tasted as such. The dough was really chewy and tasted like a Dr. Oetker.. Bad... €6 for a warm beer topped off the whole experience.

Nice ambience and ideal start to the theater evening

This was our first time here and we were disappointed. My wife had an Alte Bank salad where the meat was fried to death. Her drink, a wine spritzer, was bland and served in an unclean glass. My pork loin was also fried to death and the mushrooms were canned. There was a high level of noise. The price-performance ratio wasn't right. The only thing we liked was the service.

The service is really great. I come regularly and am always greeted so warmly and friendly. Special thanks to Tamara & Finn, who simply put their heart and soul into their job and usually already know what I want to drink today if I don't even know it yet ;) And if I don't know, Ragi behind the bar is my savior. I simply tell him a direction I would like to take today and every time he gives me a drink that more than exceeds my expectations. Thanks for that 🥰

Practical, as the coats could be dropped off without queuing before the visit to the Chamber Theater. Then we enjoyed a delicious dinner in a beautiful, spacious yet cozy atmosphere. Service was friendly and all in all a nice start to a wonderful evening.

Positive things straight away, ambience and service are excellent. Very nice and courteous service. But price-performance an absolute disgrace! On Saturday, February 1st, 2025, two of us had breakfast at the Alte Bank. We chose “Beauty and the Beast” and 2 lattes for breakfast for 2 people. Drinks came quickly and the food followed after just under 10 minutes. For €34.90! we got 1 portion of scrambled eggs (3-4 eggs?), 1 tomato, 1 mozzarella, 2 small cream cheese, 2 jam, 2 butter, 1 mini yoghurt and 2 grain and 2 normal rolls. Ok, exactly what was stated on the menu, but the quantity is everything else that you would expect for this price or even for 2 people :-( Of course everything became more expensive, but even if you add up all the organic quality items, we won't come up with a price that justifies it for a long time. Sorry “Alte Bank”, we were always happy to come, but with this price-performance ratio it doesn’t make sense for us. A breakfast & 2 milk coffees for almost 45€???!!! And still hungry afterwards :-(

Unfortunately the menu has been changed and is significantly reduced compared to the menu published on the website. I ordered Wiener Schnitzel. Meat was good, which is what you would expect with veal. But what was served was more like canteen food. Breading was soft to mushy (schnitzel was probably kept warm or warmed up) lettuce leaf for decoration was really super tiny and also wilted to mushy. All in all the food was disappointing.

As a family, we had made a reservation for brunch for 6 people right on Christmas and were looking forward to cake stands with cheese, sausage, fruit, etc. As advertised on the homepage. But... You could only choose one roll with sausage or cheese or scrambled eggs. It was a complete failure, absolutely not recommended. We were really disappointed

From the outside it's a very inconspicuous restaurant that you wouldn't recognize as one if you didn't know. Inside it is very large and spacious and the theater is also included. The staff was friendly. The food was good too. Can you go there again?

Aufgrund früherer, sehr positiven Erlebnisse haben wir den geplanten Theaterabend mit einem Abendessen in der alten Bank verbunden. Entgegen aller bisherigen Erfahrungen, anscheinend mit einem neuen Wirt - einfach nur enttäuschend, wenn auch hochpreisig ! Das Essen teilweise völlig daneben (das Steak blutig statt medium), der Service nur noch unterirdisch (30 Min auf Getränke gewartet, der Beilage Salat kam nach dem Essen und zum Zahlen nochmals 30 Min gewartet) Definitiv nicht mehr !

Little choice and food tastes like nothing. Fries tasteless and schnitzel not seasoned. No salt or pepper at the table but at the people who have coffee and cake. Never come back.

What was described on the menu was not on the plate. Half of it was missing. Even after complaining, not the whole meal was brought, but a 30% discount on the dish. The food itself is also expensive for what you get. It's a shame because it's otherwise a very nice location.

I would like to see a clear line when it comes to food, e.g. Baden or Alsatian, unfortunately many different styles

The 'Alte Bank' used to be recommended. Well not so much. The menu selection is very poor. By the way, many of the dishes to be ticked here in the rating have not been offered for a long time! The rigatoni that I ate yesterday cannot be found here at all in the list. Neither did my companion's rump steak. Both dishes tasted "okay". Salad dishes and rigatoni are way too expensive. I also wrote to the Alte Bank a few weeks ago and said that the quality and quantity had deteriorated significantly. They apologized and said they were a new operator and would improve. Unfortunately it doesn't have that. Very unfortunate! However, the service was very good yesterday!

Old Bank is a place that truly knows how to take care of its customers! I asked for a unique drink – mulled beer with syrup, my favorite treat on cold winter evenings. The bartenders not only rose to the challenge but went above and beyond to make it happen. All with a smile on their faces and absolute professionalism. What’s more, they didn’t charge me a single extra cent for it! The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere in the bar is fantastic. I will definitely come back! Highly recommended!

- The glasses were dirty. - There was no hot chocolate. - Cream cheese had expired 2 months ago, there were no new ones because they were all expired. - The menu card on the Internet is old and no longer exists. - The prices on the menu are overpriced for the quality of the food. - The menu said freshly squeezed orange juice, the waitress then pointed out to us that it wasn't freshly squeezed, but the price remained the same - Toilets would also need renovation and it stinks extremely + the location is nice but unfortunately that alone doesn't work!!

At the "Alte Bank" you can eat really delicious food and the staff is very friendly. The drinks as well as the food are of very high quality. We'll be back :-)

Went there on Saturday November 23rd, 2024, at the beginning everything went very well until we waited a long time to place an order, unfortunately after a good 10 minutes I ran out of patience and then left again. When I see how many waiters work here for the tables. Then I have the structure in this Loading not understood. Sorry, that was my first and last visit. The work structure, which waiter should serve which table, must be learned. The waiter in charge runs past our table 4 times while reading. Unfortunately completely disappointed and won't be coming back. I hope the others are luckier than me. SORRY

Because there wasn't much going on on Sunday, eating there with our seniors was very pleasant. It was quiet and the service was attentive. However, the stairs are only partially cheap...

Super nice service, great ambience

Visited for the Comedy Night. Booked a table online for 2 people for one hour before the show started. Arrived on time, the place overcrowded, and no table was available. Waited 45 mins, then we were seated on a share table with 2 other people. Why did I even bother to make a reservation? Ordered the vegan pinsa (one of 3 vegan dishes on the "summer menu") which was disappointing - nice base but little effort was made with the toppings which were drenched in tomato sauce. Overpriced for what it was (in my opinion). The service staff was friendly and attentive, but that won't motivate us enough to visit again. Suggestions to "Alte Bank" Management - get better organised for event nights, and put some more effort in your (vegan) food options.

Our waitress was absolutely sweet and accommodating, the location is also nice, unfortunately the food was a disappointment. Dressing bland, chicken dry. Menu unspectacular.

Wir warten nach dem Theater noch an der Bar was trinken. Also, wenn sich in einer 0,4 er Hauslimonade mehr Eis als Wasser befindet ist das nicht ok. Wenn in das Glas überhaupt noch 0,2 reingepasst hat. Für mich ist das Abzocke.

We ordered a veggie burger and a regular burger. Both burgers tasted terribly bad. The patty of the meat burger was completely dry, there was no rocket and there was no cheese to be found. The buns on both burgers were hard and dry. A cabbage and carrot salad was included as a side dish. The salad tasted like it wasn't quite good anymore. The only good thing was the fries. They were the worst burgers we had ever eaten. The service person was very nice and tried very hard.

One of the most convincing establishments I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Starting with the excellent selection of music, which created a wonderful ambience, to the waitress, who was very courteous and patient with us as we were a bit overwhelmed with the great offer. From Swabian Maultaschen to delicious schnitzel or sumptuous salads, the Baden heart feels at home here. The local Hoepfner beer is a must!! Thank you for this lovely evening!

Nice restaurant in an attractive atmosphere. The high ceiling makes the whole thing seem a bit too bright and open. But the place isn't just called Alte Bank, it's also one, so it's very okay. The selection and quality of the food is good average. The staff was pleasantly friendly and accommodating. Ideal location if you then want to go to the Chamber Theater in the same building. We were very satisfied.

We went to the restaurant for the first time before a play. It's a very nice atmosphere, our service was very friendly and attentive and our food was extremely tasty 😋. It was the perfect start to the evening at the theater.

The food is lukewarm and completely tasteless. The rice was totally overcooked and mushy. Noise level as loud as in a train station hall. Price-performance ratio too high. Friendly staff. Overall not recommended.

The dish did not correspond to what was offered on the menu. Instead of minced steak filled with sheep's cheese, there were 2 small meatballs with a fatty filling 😁 and 3 small cubes of sheep's cheese! The waiter responded to my complaint very calmly. It wasn't the first time that customers were disappointed. The delivery butcher is to blame🤷‍♂️ There wasn't even an espresso as an excuse. 😬 Conclusion, not again so soon!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the "Alte Bank" restaurant and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The ambience of the restaurant is inviting and charming. The furnishings, which are reminiscent of the building's history as a former bank, give the place a unique atmosphere. The service in the restaurant was also first class. The staff like Finn and Polya were very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My order was served promptly and I felt well looked after throughout the entire visit. Overall, my visit to the “Alte Bank” restaurant was an extremely positive experience. I highly recommend it and look forward to dining there again soon :)

Relatively small menu with moderate prices. The taste is good and the portions are sufficient. It wasn't busy, but it still took quite a long time before we could order the food. Very nice atmosphere. Mobile gourmet block accepted without any problems.

Ich war neulich in diesem Restaurant und die Terrasse hat mich echt umgehauen! Die Atmosphäre dort ist einfach genial – super entspannt, mit viel Grün und richtig gemütlich. Perfekt, um den Abend draußen zu verbringen.

I was at this restaurant recently and the terrace really blew me away! The atmosphere there is simply brilliant – super relaxed, with lots of greenery and really cozy. Perfect for spending the evening outside.

We were there very spontaneously today. I have to say that I haven't been served such bland and cold food in a long time. I decided on the stuffed minced steak, but the filling in the form of sheep's cheese was almost non-existent and the meat could have really been seasoned. The cevapcici were very hard fried, but at least the food was hot. Well, I don't know if I want to experience the summer menu again. The service, was nice and attentive, promised to pass on the feedback to the kitchen, one can only hope so.

Bring plenty of time if you want to eat here before visiting the theater! And be sure to reserve in advance. Far too few waitresses, but they were still incredibly friendly! Table too small for 2 plates, chairs uncomfortable. Kitchen overwhelmed with too many orders. We had sausage salad with fries, which tasted very tasty, but the portion was pretty manageable for the money.

Large outdoor area. Food was very good 👍. Price-performance ratio absolutely fine. We didn't have a reservation but got a spot without any problems. The only negative point is the chairs. They are very uncomfortable. Seat cushions would be great.

Despite having an hour of time, we didn't manage to make our Pisa and the burger. Therefore we had to cancel the order 10 minutes before the start of the theater. This also happened to other guests who were there earlier than us. Too bad. It's not bad if there's a lot going on. But it would have been good to have been warned early on that it would take a long time. Communication is easy and helpful.

For salad from a bag, the price-performance ratio isn't quite right and the Aperol Spritz was very thin.

Very pleasant cafe. The drinks and food are very tasty and the costs are completely reasonable. The staff is super fast, meaning you can enjoy your drink in no time. The loungers give you the feeling of being on holiday. The music is calming, so you can treat yourself to a drink after a tiring day. Orhan in particular gave us a very warm welcome and advice. Gladly again!!!

I actually didn't want to comment on it - but since I was asked to do so: Our mistake was that we assumed we had made a reservation at the restaurant - we really enjoyed this on our last visit. However, after the third employee did not respond on his own, we asked and were directed to the beer garden. We reached this point in time before our reservation time. Our reservation was also written out on the table, but two unreserved guests had already ordered - even though we had reserved for four people. Isn't something like that noticeable? After some back and forth they finally found a table for us. The drink order was taken and served at the table, then nothing happened for a long time. The food could only be ordered upon request. After 30 minutes, a waiter brought food that wasn't ordered - the correct delivery took another 40 minutes. The Chevapen were dry and charred, there were no onions. After we ate we spent another 60 minutes with the empty plates - somehow no one felt responsible for us. There was no question as to whether everything would be okay or whether we had any further wishes. Only the payment took place without waiting time. But we weren't satisfied. At least we won't want to stop in the beer garden anymore.

If you want to sit in the middle of the city, OK. The food was great. We all enjoyed it. The service was also great, so you can be happy that the waitresses are in a good mood, given the many guests.
