We ate here in May 2023 and again now. The food is really nice and is a relaxed atmosphere, with a nice central location. This year the wine selection (with the wine pairing) was really nice. We felt that the courses really worked well with each other and the pairing. Deserts were also very nice, they were quick to adapt with allergies that weren’t mentioned (our fault for not specifying, we had booked close to the date and forgot to mention.) I really like the course with the red pepper and other friends really liked the course with cologne sourced mushroom with ribwot plantain and chilli. Course with onion was really nice. Wish they accepted cash payment, would eat here more often if so. The no dress code / casual dress code is a very nice touch and makes the experience feel comfortable and modern. Thanks again for the lovely evening.

I rate the breakfast here. For breakfast I chose the three-course breakfast and for the two of us we paid around 100 euros including drinks. Everything was freshly prepared, the ingredients fresh and served casually with a friendly “you”. I particularly liked the “French Toast” based on the Rhenish dish “Himmel und Äd” because I thought the implementation was successful. The Summer Benedict was ok. Unfortunately, the bread had a crust that was very difficult to cut and the dish was not eaten with hands. I was disappointed with the yeast roll with coffee cream. Taste ok, but unimaginatively prepared. I wanted to sit outside when the weather was good, which was possible. On a wooden bench that unfortunately had no cushion. I missed a pillow. Just for your information: The toilets are not barrier-free. All complaints at a high level. But I was expecting this level and wasn't completely convinced.

Brunch at a high level, which is particularly impressive due to the visual presentation of the food. However, in terms of taste, the dishes fall just short of expectations. They are undoubtedly delicious, but the great appearance sets the bar higher than the taste ultimately achieves. Given the high prices, the price/performance ratio is more like 4 than 5 stars. A potential plus is the menu on beautifully textured and grainy paper, which could underline the house's claim. Unfortunately, this detail is ruined by an unnecessarily thin and small font, as it is extremely difficult to read and was not intended by the customer. What spoiled the overall impression, however, was the interaction at the table outside. The fact that a child who could not reach the table at the fixed bench was not provided with a chair despite asking There were four spare chairs in the basement, which leaves a bad aftertaste. A big star deduction for this lack of flexibility and customer orientation. What are the reserve chairs intended for if not exactly for situations like this?

I've been to Neobiota twice so far. The quality and taste of the food is excellent. What I like is that there is no dress code and you can dine excellently even if you're dressed casually - no airs and graces. The wines on offer are also very good, there is something for every taste. The champagne with the aperitif was very tasteful both times. Unfortunately, the former sommelier is no longer there. I found him to be more pleasant in the consultation; he was very attentive and met our needs perfectly. The service staff is very warm. I would like to try breakfast but the waiting time for a seat is very long. The star deduction is due to the lack of privacy. The tables are so close together that you can hear every word from those sitting next to you, which doesn't necessarily invite you to have deep or private conversations with the person sitting next to you. I didn't feel so comfortable there and I know it's different from other Michelin restaurants. A reservation should be made in advance.

Excellent food at a great price. We took advantage of the young & hungry offer and enjoyed a great 4-course menu for half the price. Great worlds of taste, very nice service and a relaxed, personal and uncomplicated atmosphere. We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a place for good food or a special occasion! Even though we are students and not otherwise in this price range, we didn't feel out of place and were given patient and friendly advice.

Das Restaurant ist sehr aufgeschlossen und kinderfreundlich, sodass wir auch mit Baby nicht auf Sterneküche verzichten mussten. Das Baby hat zugegeben auch sehr gut mitgespielt - und wenn ein Elternteil mal kurz die Straße hoch und runter laufen musste mit dem Kind, dann wurde das Essen kalt oder warm gestellt. Unglaublich aufmerksamer Service! Die Sterneerfahrung war rundum gelungen. So viel Neues erschmeckt, so kreative Ideen und wunderschöne Kreationen obendrein! Die Weinbegleitung war spannend, aber gerade die alkoholfreie Variante hat uns umgehauen! Hier hat alles eine eigene Handschrift und macht den Abend erfrischend einzigartig. Wir sind begeistert und werden gerne zum Saisonwechsel wiederkommen!

Where do we start? There are tables outside where you are crowded together and where there is really zero privacy... we would have imagined and wished for something different. Unfortunately, the price performance is absolutely not justified. You are only allowed to order within a set 30 minutes from the time you make the reservation because there is only one person in the kitchen. #Pity Tip: just hire more people ☝🏽 The entire ordering process is explained in detail and in detail and is often explained several times and invites you to want to leave quickly. The food is okay, but can't do much. It is nicely presented. We ate in a hurry because the next reservation was already waiting. All in all: it will have been a unique visit.

So if you like things to be really stressful, this is a great place to go. Starts before the actual visit. Traffic jams and delays but no possibility to inform, which is expressly requested. Telephone and email from 1 p.m. Stupid if the table is reserved for 12 p.m. When you finally arrive, you have to order quickly if you want the 3-course breakfast menu. Yes, no thanks, leave it. I want to have breakfast in peace. Seating on upscale beer tent furniture, there are communal tables. Service spotty. Berry Bircher was okay but definitely too sweet. But we ate quickly and were only interrupted three times. Once because someone from the team chatted up guests in the busy beer garden and then because we had company at the table. Then the 5 of us sat at a table for 4. Oh well. The website suggests something completely different than what is ultimately offered. Price/performance isn't really balanced.

I don't even know how to start. The food was fantastic. We chose the triad menu and received three greetings from the kitchen. It was a feast for all the senses. To describe all of this would go beyond the scope. Just go and try it out. Also worth highlighting is the friendly service, which stays in the background but still responds immediately to a request. It was a lovely evening all round. We will come back.

Wir hatten den Flotten Dreier in der pescetarischen Variante. Handwerklich waren alle Gänge sehr gut und die Begleitung der Getränke stimmig. Geschmacklich gab es einzelnen Highlights (Wikinger Müsli), aber durchgängig hat es nicht ganz meinen Erwartungen entsprochen bzw. einen nachhaltigen Eindruck hinterlassen. Der Service war exzellent und das Ambiente ansprechend.

Wir waren das erste und leider auch das letzte mal dort zum Frühstücken. Das Essen war gut aber nicht überragend und hat dadurch leider nicht die schlechte Servicequalität wieder gut machen können. Beim Frühstück wird der Tisch für 2. Stunden reserviert. Wenn man dann aber bereits nach 1. Stunde im regelmäßigem Takt erzählt bekommt, man müsse gleich den Tisch räumen und dann auch noch bei einer Restdauer von 25 Minuten die Rechnung auf den Tisch gelegt bekommt, während man noch am Essen ist. Sorry geht gar nicht und hat leider nichts mit Gemütlichkeit und einer entspannten Atmosphäre zu tun. Wir waren zu zweit und beide echt genervt und sehr enttäuscht. Da sind wir anderes gewöhnt. Schade das hier mehr Wert auf Umsatz wie auf die Zufriedenheit der Kunden gelegt wird. Zumal unser Tisch als wir gegangen sind nicht neu besetzt wurde, entgegen der vorherigen Aussage. Wir standen noch für ca. 20 Minuten draußen vor der Location und drinnen waren noch andere Tische frei. Sehr schade und als Geschenk dann nicht gut angekommen.

Das Essen ist hervorragend, man hat jedoch nur 1,5 Stunden Zeit drei Gänge mal eben schnell zu verzerren. Unter den Umständen konnten wir das Essen nicht wirklich genießen, weil es die ganze Zeit Eile geboten war. Sobald ein Gang fertig war, kam sofort der nächste und am Ende schnell die Rechnung, weil schon die nächsten Kunden für den Tisch in der Tür standen. Somit bekommt das Ganze einen Bahnhof- Charakter. Auch wenn das Restaurantkonzept genau dies vorsieht, passt die Atmosphäre leider nicht zu dem Essen.

Neobiota in Cologne completely amazed us with its uniqueness and unexpected culinary compositions. The vegan menu was not only incredibly diverse and tasty, but was also accompanied by exceptional non-alcoholic drinks. Each course was raised to a new level by a perfectly coordinated drink accompaniment. A highlight was the combination of olives with woodruff tea – an incredibly tasty surprise. These creative drinks made the experience even more intense and showed the restaurant's innovative strength. The service was outstanding and personal. All the staff were extremely accommodating and were able to tell us the stories behind each dish, which gave the evening a special touch. **Restaurant review for Neobiota in Cologne** Neobiota in Cologne is a true culinary gem and deserves its Michelin star in every respect. From start to finish our visit was an exceptional experience. The food was rich and offered an incredible variety, which particularly impressed us as vegans. We have never had such good vegan food of this quality. Each course was a work of art in itself, carefully prepared and full of flavor explosions. The service is particularly commendable. The entire team was not only personal and super accommodating, but also extremely polite. The boss personally explained the individual courses to us, which gave the evening a very special touch. The eight-course meal actually felt like a 20-course meal because there were so many greetings and special little things in between. Another highlight was sustainability. Regional and local products are used and care is taken not to waste any food if possible. Delicious dishes were even conjured up from unusual ingredients, such as sweet potato leaves. This creative and sustainable approach to cuisine is admirable. Neobiota not only impresses with its authentic food, but also with its warm staff and charming ambience. This restaurant sets standards and is unique in every way. We can fully recommend Neobiota and are already looking forward to our next visit!

The dishes were very unusual and very tasty. Every now and then there was a little something from the kitchen that rounded off the meal perfectly. Every single course was a pleasure. It's great that they make sure that all the ingredients come from the region. The beverage accompaniment is highly recommended as the drinks were perfectly matched to the dishes. We wrote you an email and asked if there was any way to accommodate us before we went back and we got a positive answer from you straight away! Today we traveled an extra 250km to enjoy this somewhat unusual breakfast. When we entered the restaurant we immediately felt at home. Very nicely furnished with an open, integrated kitchen. The dishes looked really delicious and were also very appealing to the eye. But unfortunately, unfortunately 3 out of 4 dishes were way too spicy!!! We had "Spring Benedict" (extremely spicy), "Hot Dog in a Brioche Bun" (very spicy), "Green Bagel" (spicy) and "Pinky Pancakes" (very tasty). Unfortunately, after the first bite, our mouths burned so much that we could no longer perceive any other flavors. Our comment that too much sharpness was used here was cleverly ignored and smiled away. With the Indian we would have understood this spiciness, but here........not. That's really a pity. We won't come again. It's a shame, because the concept really appealed to us.

Unfortunately disappointing. I went to this restaurant for breakfast and was unfortunately negatively surprised. The food is below average (3 course menu) for this price category. There is a lot of room for improvement here in terms of taste. The plates are absolutely not suitable for the dishes (far too small). The service seemed unprofessional in parts. It happened several times that something was cleared from the table without saying a word. The atmosphere is stressful. The tables are far too close together so that the people next to them can almost eat too. The room is extremely small and the kitchen is directly integrated, so that smells are immediately noticeable in the guest room.

All in all nice, but not entirely appropriate for the high price. The 3-course breakfast is a great idea and the portions are fair. We found two out of three dishes very tasty, one of each rather average. We paid a whopping €85 including a drink for two people. The service was nice but a bit sloppy. They wanted to take our order 'in two minutes' so as not to overload the kitchen. After 20 minutes someone came, so we had to remember what we wanted to order while we were hungry. One star deducted for: My husband got a shard of glass from his drink in his mouth. The drink, which was still full, was exchanged but unfortunately it was still charged. We wouldn't have expected that with such a 'standard'. We ended up having a nice, slightly different breakfast, but we won't come again.

Es war ein toller Abend. Aufregend, gemütlich, toller Service. Warum nur 4 Punkte? Weil es uns teilweise einfach zu avantgardistisch war und einfach nicht alles geschmeckt hat. Es mag sein, dass das Topinambur-Eis etwas Besonderes ist. Leider war das einer der beiden Gänge, die einfach nicht geschmeckt haben. :-( Uns ja, wie bei einigen anderen Bewertungen war in den meisten Gängen die Säure recht präsent.

Relaxed location with breakfast creations of a different kind. We like the attentive service. Our menemen and the French toast meets heaven and earth were very tasty. Coffee and homemade lemonade were convincing across the board. The look at the neighboring table, as well as the feedback from the connoisseurs at the same, confirmed the direct hit when ordering the 3-course breakfast... nothing for those who order according to the well-known slogan "When you get a little hungry". Terminator-like: "I'll be back...!"

My husband and I came for dinner on the last night of our honeymoon and were not disappointed. The food is imaginative, locally & respondibly sourced, and plentiful. The staff could not have been kinder. They were all knowledgable and clearly felt passionate about the ethos and values of the restaurant. We will be coming back.

Unethical management and staff. It's really shocking this restaurant is listed on the Michelin Guide (dinner only), because the atmosphere and food left left much to be desired. Overall, we had a very bad experience, with management's response adding insult to injury. Right from the start, our dining experience felt off. Despite specifically booking a tasting meal, we were MISLED into believing that a wine pairing was included. Imagine our shock when the bill, originally estimated at 250 EUR, suddenly soared to 500 EUR, all due to this unexpected addition. We made several attempts to clarify the situation regarding the wine pairing. Despite our clear request for a drinks menu, we were told none existed. My husband tried to find if such a menu existed on their website, but the poor cell reception at the restaurant made this impossible. We repeatedly told the staff we didn't want a pairing. Nevertheless, the staff were firm that a wine pairing was part of our booking and they became annoyed by us asking for another option. Feeling uneasy about pressing further and drawing unwanted attention, we reluctantly agreed to proceed. The staff saw we were shocked when we received the inflated bill. A staff member told us no manager was available for us to discuss our concerns, so we paid and hoped to address the issue discreetly later with management, which turned out to be a huge mistake. Our efforts were met with resistance from Sonja, whose defensive stance and refusal to engage in constructive dialogue only exacerbated the situation. Despite our requests for a phone call to resolve the matter amicably, we were met with stonewalling and a lack of acknowledgment of the errors made. (We, unfortunately, don't speak German, but the restaurant was listed as having English speaking staff.) We understand that language barriers and miscommunications can occur, which could have been this issue here; however, the reluctance of the staff to acknowledge these issues only served to compound our frustration. While some team members struggled with English proficiency, others appeared visibly uncomfortable communicating in the language. This, coupled with our inability to rely on translation tools due to poor cell reception, further hindered our ability to resolve the matter effectively. If any staff are unsure or do not feel like they've completely understood a customer, they should raise this to their team and have someone else step in and clarify (or confirm!). The staff didn't do this. Nevertheless, Sonja's staff lied to her about the situation (probably out of fear for their jobs), and, as such Sonja was extremely abrasive and unkind in her communications to me. I felt very bullied. She was unwilling to learn about our issue/concerns to resolve the issue, not at all the type of service I expect from a Michelin restaurant, very shocking. To touch on the atmosphere, wow, what a shock, I felt like I was eating at at a beaten up trashy breakfast restaurant (see for yourself) and they were playing heavy metal music. That's a first at a Michelin Star restaurant for me! The food looked nice but lacked flavor, not at all up to par with Michelin standards. Moreover, they served the vegan tasting menu in oyster shells, which is very perplexing. I'm also extremely allergic to oysters and the staff were unwilling to change out this dish for me despite me telling them about my allergy, they said it was against the rules. I expect better when a restaurant tricks me into shelling out 500 EUR for an lackluster meal and wine pairing. In light of these challenges, I urge Neobiota to reevaluate its communication practices and commitment to customer service. Transparency, accountability, and a genuine desire to rectify mistakes are essential in building trust and loyalty among patrons. Without addressing these concerns, the risk of alienating customers and tarnishing the reputation of this establishment remains high. Moreover, management should really consider a refurbishment and changing the music during the dinner service.

Ich war jetzt schon 7 mal im NeoBiota zum Frühstück und es war (wie immer!!) ein absoluter Genuss und auch ein Erlebnis! Der Service ist überragend, das Essen schmeckt vorzüglich und sieht dabei noch wunderschön aus! Die Karte variiert von Zeit zu Zeit und die Gerichte werden je nach Saison angepasst, sodass ich bisher nie genau das gleiche gegessen habe. Ich trinke jedes Mal sehr gerne den „Saft des Tages“, der jeden Tag frisch gepresst wird und super lecker ist! Eine glatte Empfehlung für jede*n, der/die ein etwas besondereres Frühstück haben möchte! Auch perfekt geeignet als Geschenk - ich empfehle einen 100€ Gutschein, damit das Frühstücks-Menü (35€ pro Person) und ein paar Getränke abgedeckt sind.

We celebrated my brother-in-law's 60th birthday yesterday. A breakfast of the extra class 👍 It was wonderful ☺️ an extensive breakfast, which was also extensively and professionally designed by the staff. I read so many good reviews about this Michelin star restaurant so I decided to give it a try during our visit in Cologne. I booked it about 1.5 months prior to my visit and I had to switch my whole itinerary to fit in this section. I thought I was very lucky to be able to book this restaurant, but it turns out to be a total disappointment. 1. When we arrived (on time) there was a table available (2 seater) but they didn't give us that table and instead we were told to sit on a high chair. 2. After they gave us the menu, they literally came back 3 times in 5mins asking if we were ready to order (it felt like they wanted us to eat quick and kick us out). 3. Food is not cheap but I was not wow with the food quality and the ingredients used. Honestly, I expect more for a Michelin star restaurant. 4. We ordered the BBQ Benedict and the Rosti Waffle, and the food presentation didn't impress me at all. In conclusion, there are way better options out there so don't waste your time in here..not worth it

Good, but not perfect. We were there in the evening and each had the 8-course menu. The food was really wonderful. Although we are good eaters, we found the menu a bit too extensive, a little less would have been sufficient. We found the sparkling wine, white wine and sweet wine to be too warm. The bottle of wine got cooler as the evening went on, then it was fine.

We have tried the breakfast several times so far and have been very impressed every time. The creations are “something different” than the typical breakfast rolls with cold cuts that we usually know. Definitely worth a visit. Recommendation: Egg Benedict and the Shashuka with Marquez.

Wir waren 15 Minuten zu spät aufgrund von Stau und eines langen Anfahrtsweges. Leider wurde uns dann direkt bei Einlass mitgeteilt, dass das Frühstück in 3-Gängen nicht mehr möglich sei. Im Endeffekt haben wir genau die gleichen Dinge bestellt, die wir auch bei einem Frühstück in drei Gängen bestellt hätten (inkl. Der Pancakes mit 25 - eher 30 Minuten Zubereitungszeit) und waren früher als wir ursprünglich geplant oder gekonnt hätten wieder aus dem Restaurant raus. Das Essen war lecker- keine Frage! Aber für die Preise erwarte ich mehr Freundlichkeit und Offenheit vom Service. Die Kellnerin war freundlich aber auch gut reserviert. Insgesamt war das Neobiota eine nette Erfahrung, aber wenn ich wiederkomme, dann eher für das Dinner, da mich das Frühstückerlebnis insgesamt leider nicht überzeugt hat.

We really liked the atmosphere, everything was a bit raw/alternative, with a mix of (hard) rock, punk and old metal songs playing in the background - absolutely successful for me. When it comes to the quality of the food, the Michelin star speaks for itself. I found the menu to be very creative.

Wir hatten ein unvergessliches Geschmackserlebnis mit einer toll abgestimmtnen Weinbegleitung einem sehr freundlichen Service von einem jungen Team, dem es Spaß macht seine Gäste kulinarisch zu verwöhnen. Was mich besonders beeindruckt hat ist Sonja Baumanns und Erik Schefflers Mut zur Würze, aber total abgestimmt auf die einzelnen Gerichte. Wir waren beeindruckt.

Nach 2 Tagen Phantasialand wollten wir den Abend mit einem schönen Essen abschließen. Wir haben uns mega auf die 6 Gänge gefreut und hatten einen wundervollen Abend mit den besten Gastgebern und dem geilsten Sterneessen zum Wohlfühlen. Vom Empfang über die Begrüßung und Aperitif/Aperos über die gemischte Getränkebegleitung und Erklärung zu den Gerichten plus Empfehlungen war der Service 1a. Wir haben uns mega wohl und sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Die Gerichte waren himmlisch, durchdacht und auf den Punkt gebracht. Alles war geil kontrastiert, ausbalanciert und optisch zum Verlieben. Mein Liebling war die Paprika mit Tomate und Basilikum! Vielen lieben Dank an Sonja, Erik, Hanna und dem gesamten Team im NeoBiota für diese megageile Erfahrung. <3 Achso, wichtig zu erwähnen ist der herausragende Musikgeschmack der DJane! :D Und kleiner Tipp am Rande (aufgrund vorangegangener Bewertungen): Wer nicht geduzt und lieber gesiezt werden möchte aufgrund seiner gezählten Lebensjahre, sollte in der Lage sein können, dies zu äußern. Aufgrund dessen dem Personal Respektlosigkeit vorzuwerfen ist sehr hoch gegriffen. Es wird lediglich versucht (Achtung eigene Meinung!) eine persönliche und freundschaftliche Nähe aufzubauen, in der man sich wohlfühlt. Zumindest habe ich es so empfunden!

Essen sehr lecker- leider war ein Gericht teils noch kochend heiß was erst bemerkt wurde als es im Mund war… Schade war auch dass es nicht möglich war etwas am Gericht zu verändern z.b. anstatt pochierte Eier - Spiegelei. Da hätte das Essen noch besser geschmeckt. Trotz des kleinen Raumes war es angenehm von der Lautstärke. Service freundliche und schnell.
