Murphy’s Irish Pub in Berlin

I went with my brother to get a beer here one night and it was great! amazing live music, and at one point she was playing the fiddle and some people were dancing, it was super fun. the kitchen was closed when I went but the beer was great!

Decent drinks and lighting and a nice location in town

I thought the place was cool, the food and drinks were ok. The service left something to be desired. The waitress was rude when she came to the table and asked me to pay the bill, even though my wife hadn't finished her beer yet. We felt uncomfortable about this, as if she was going to kick us out of the place. The music was also very loud. It was difficult to communicate.

I was in Berlin for a weekend and visited the place both days. Fantastically delicious place to sit outside in the sun by the river and enjoy yourself. A fantastic atmosphere and good live music one evening. The service was a bit slow at times, but I think it was because they were so busy. The food was also delicious, so all in all, a fantastic experience 👍😊

Noisy bar with a weird pay as you go table service. Service was very much dependent on which staff member was serving you. Very suspicious that some or all of the meals were out of tin cans.

Unfortunately, the terrace on the Spree is not pleasant as it is much too narrow.

Avoid. Poor service, asked for payment upfront and food was mediocre at best.

We found it by chance and loved it. The atmosphere is great, typical of a bar, and that's its charm. Good beers, good whiskeys. We didn't eat, because we'd already had that. If we return to Berlin, we'll go again.

Walked in spontaneously, got a quick, delicious beer and a good atmosphere.

Food was enjoyable, but service very slow. Was not aware, nor advised, that ordering drinks and food are done by scanning. ( our table had no qr code) We were told to sit down and was then ignored for maybe 15 minutes. They weren't busy at the time.

We stopped in with three people on Friday, May 16th in the afternoon. No greeting, no service either. After a while, we went to the counter to place our Guinness order. Only in English? Even in Berlin, German is still spoken – surprise! The female server immediately turned away brusquely, and we had to ask for a German-speaking colleague. We then carried the drinks to the table ourselves. Payment: Cash? No, no change! Then with card...of course, no tip, what for? Zero service, zero tip. Notes to the manager/team leader: just brief the staff and teach them a few words of German. They have plenty of time. Guinness is Guinness, beer is beer, whiskey is whiskey, then please and thank you – so it can't be that difficult. Conclusion: If you want to be politely ignored, go to Murphy's on Schiffbauerdamm. And don't worry, there's plenty of space, so it probably wasn't due to overcrowding. By the way, we're from Berlin and know Berlin's restaurants well. They're always extremely friendly, accommodating, and relaxed. Murhys is a sad exception. This was our second time here, and therefore our last, which is a shame!

We waited for 20 minutes for our drink, which was ok. But, when my wife asked if our order was forgotten, the manager cursed her out and wouldn’t serve her a drink. 3 other tables told us that she was rude to them too. We would have stayed a long time because the music was good. But we were treated so badly, we will never come back again. I believe this bar relies on tourists and they will never see them again and they don’t appreciate good paying customers who genuinely want to be there.

Wonderful, authentic Irish pub. We wait for the next boat to Charlottenburg and get a cold drink. Great. Thanks.

In summer you can sit by the water

The best part is the live music. The ambiance is quite quaint. Unfortunately, it's extremely loud. Prices are quite high. However, there's self-service after waiting in the long line. The staff hardly speaks German. There are much better pubs in Berlin.

Good selection of drinks, good snacks and friendly and quick service. It is very practical that you can order drinks directly to the table via the app (we sat outside by the water). This was incredibly practical!

The drinks here were okay - but relatively expensive. The nachos were great but unfortunately way too spicy for me - but great for anyone who likes spicy food. Unfortunately, the staff wasn't that attentive, so reordering always took a relatively long time. The live music was really good!

Review: An evening in a Berlin pub – with obstacles Hardware store employees are apparently easier to find at the moment than waitresses in this pub. When the weather was nice, we managed to get a spot outside - promising. But what followed was more reminiscent of an animal documentary: like meerkats, the service staff only appeared briefly, only to disappear again at the first eye contact. If you were lucky and were able to speak to someone, you quickly encountered language hurdles. Little was possible in German, and my English, which normally works in the USA or England, was apparently not sufficient to order gratinated mashed potatoes in a Berlin pub. Although that was secondary anyway – there was no food outside after 7 p.m. So: move indoors. Payment is made there directly when you order - this provides clarity, but not necessarily comfort. The food came quickly, tasted okay, but was on the plain side. Then the live music started. The artist was undoubtedly talented, but unfortunately the first chord made any conversation impossible - regardless of the language. Conclusion: An evening with teething problems, language barriers and volume problems - but at least it was still really good in the next pub.

Murphy’s is a friendly Irish pub, typically Irish, lively, live music and almost always fully booked in the evenings.

Rude red-haired waitress, after not even finishing the sentence to ask if we could sit down, she responded with a flat NO without even listening to the question.

Very touristy pub, but always nice! The Guinness also tastes good and the Jameson Ginger & Lime is good to drink!😉

Initially nice place to have a drink. We were there when the live singer Emma (that's my name) performed her repertoire. 3 hours of nonstop top music. Super cozy, great atmosphere! Highly recommended!

We've been coming to Murphey for years when we're in Berlin. Last year we celebrated a birthday there where we left a lot of money, but the employees gave us a dustpan and a broom, which should have made us suspicious. From then on there were no more tips. This year we were there too and our jaws almost dropped! Beer in PLASTE CUP for almost €7 0.4 ml! 2cl shots that are declared as 4cl shots, which is fraud, are for 7€!!! The Irish flag didn't taste like whiskey, Bailys and Pfeffi, it tasted like nail polish remover and gave me heartburn! Service in Germany doesn't speak German and if you complain, they no longer understand English! In addition, the “singer” made it deafeningly loud, you couldn’t understand your own words and the toilets were at rest stop level! An absolute disgrace and a tourist rip-off!!! The bar used to be cool and worth a visit, but now it's run down, dirty and smelly. We won't be coming back. It's just shameful to serve beer in plastic cups in a bar and cheekily rip people off with it! Unfortunately you can also tell that the bar is drunk because of the clientele, it's a shame about the ambience!

Yes, you have to have deposit and like a lot of people. But live music is always great

I was there for the first time today, and it was very nice. The service was friendly and courteous. It's strange that you have to pay before you get your drink and food, but as the waitress told us, it's because the guests simply leave after they've finished their meal.

Everything is great, the prices are very affordable (€5.50 for a Guiness), there is a friendly atmosphere and we really liked the menu and the prices of the food. For being in Germany, some dishes were €5-6! There is a Zoltar machine at the entrance that transported me to Big!

Food wasn't pleasant and was not up to standards especially with the price you are paying. The table service is terrible, waiting way too long to get a drink. I got one drink, and tried to order another and waited a long time. They were trying to prolong, I went back up to ask about my drink and I got told they weren't bothered to make it and got refunded! One person behind the bar that can pull pints and make drinks, 4/5 girls running around doing nothing. Pulling faces at customers behind their backs. A worker loves to push people around as if she's all high and mighty. It's so disrespectful and horrible atmosphere to be in. Only good thing about this pub was the music. And the singer deserved the tip she got. Workers don't deserve a tip especially with atrocious service.

Very bland and watery iced coffee. Service was okay but had to be reminded of the orders. Nice outdoor seating.

We just went for a drink. The restaurant was quite full and the empty seats were reserved, but the staff tried hard to organize a seat, which went smoothly. A huge compliment from this side to the staff.

The staff is stressed, the music and all the guests are American and there is hardly any Guinness (€6.50!!) drunk. This is definitely not an Irish pub, more of a tourist trap

Live Music, ice cold Heineken and perfect Guinness

Monday was St. Patrick's Day, and for years I've wanted to spend this day in a proper pub. The ambience and mood in the restaurant was as expected. It was packed, but everyone was in a good mood; People sang along enthusiastically with the music; There were a few classics from the American pop and swing scene, as well as a few well-known Irish hits. There was no food that evening and there was no place to sit. But the memory card looks promising, I'll go there on a normal day and try the shepherd's pie. The ladies behind the counter didn't lose interest in all the hustle and bustle, and my beer was ready after a few minutes and it was cold, well tapped and refreshing. It was like an hour's vacation in Ireland and I will come back to Murphys...

The direct comparison with the originals in Ireland is still fresh in my mind, so I apply a possibly strict standard here and find more of a "decal" of an Irish pub. Nevertheless, there is a bit of an Irish feeling. The seating situation alone is very cramped.

Two members of staff are extremely rude. One member of our party ordered a cocktail, waited for half an hour then got their money back because the person behind the bar didn't want to make it. Ordered an Irish shepherds pie, it was smothered in cheese. Shepherds pie does NOT contain cheese Irish or otherwise

Great pub, large selection of whiskeys and tasty beers and the food is also very tasty. The service is friendly and spoke politely.

Guinness!!! The best beer in the world!!!

Racist bouncer - wouldn't let me in at St. Patrick's Day party because supposedly the pub was "too full" (people kept going home in between). I only got in after a lot of persuasion and because friends already had a place at the table... that's why there was no tip at the end - a shame, otherwise a very cozy and atmospheric pub with good drinks and live music. We actually like being there more often, but not anymore.

On the evening before St. Patrick's Day, drinks are only served in plastic cups. Food was OK. edit: From 17 onwards there were no more cocktails. Orders had to be paid immediately. edit 2: the last beer was just soda. I don't come here anymore.

Nice Irish pub with great food. Unfortunately it was pretty full on Saturday and after a day of walking through the city I couldn't get a seat. We went there again a little earlier two days later and were lucky this time. Seat right next to the small stage - and very close to it with live music from 8 p.m.! I was very pleased to find Shepherd's Pie on the menu here - one of my favorite Irish dishes since my visit to Dublin. The Murphy's beer isn't bad either and so the evening was very entertaining and very enjoyable! ;)

I'm not sure why, but irish pubs are a great place in most places. Was looking for live music after 2200, and this was the only one still playing. Great vide, great songs, and wonderful Guinness

I was visiting various bars to write an article for my travel blog and youtube channel. I went to this establishment. I first ordered a Dunkle,it was a 0.5 liter served in a plastic pint pot. When I went back to order another pint of lager,they gave me a 0.3liter in a plastic pot,they charged me full price of €6.50. When I complained the bar maid was very rude to me,when I complained she poured a shot glass of lager and put it next it. So to prove I'm not lying I took a photo of what they served me at Murphys bar vs an actual 0.5 liter drink from a bar round the corner. There are much better places to drink,I was going to have some dinner there as well,but after being treated badly I went somewhere else.

Went to watch the rugby and then enjoyed some live music, food and service great fantastic atmosphere as an Irish person I’d be visiting here again!

Unfortunately not... We were turned away very rudely and unfriendly on a Saturday evening. One could certainly find nicer words, but the lady apparently wasn't in the mood to receive guests. Well then not! Other restaurants are also open. At least we are still in Berlin!!! Update to owner's response: They seem to be confusing us, we weren't a group and there was no queue in front of us, just an aggressive lady who more or less slammed the door in our faces without us even having the chance to say anything at all. A note would have been nice, but being yelled at at the door for no reason doesn't meet my expectations of service.

The lady at the door made such a fuss about us when we opened the door, even though it was our first time there, so this review was our only opportunity to express our displeasure... But okay, management apparently can't handle criticism either. Professionally is different. If the restaurant hadn't been so well located, people would certainly have reacted completely differently...
