Murphy's Irish Pub at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin

Bad service. After 30min they discovered that the beers were finished and they didn't bring one hamburger. It ended up that I cannot have dinner

My go to pub while staying in Berlin. Across the street from the Berlin wall. Great beer selection, and food, with live music on weekends, down the street from checkpoint Charlie.

Very busy bar ,service was friendly and attentive ,food lets the place down ,very small portions for the price and came out cold

As an Irish person I went to watch the rugby then enjoyed some live music the service was great too plenty of friendly staff would definitely visit again! The Guinness was also very good!

This is a great bar/pub. It is located right by Checkpoint Charlie. It is an oasis when walking around. The staff are great.... Sarah, Thomas, Andy, Andrew, Magda and the other staff I can't remember their nameals are brilliant. They are polite and friendly and work hard to make your visit good. It gets busy in here. But when it has been when we (8 of us) arrived we were looked after great. The beer is good. The food is good and the live music is damn good too. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a break for walking around. Nice food stop and if your just looking for beers and/or sport on the TV. Perfect place. I don't get to Berlin often but I will be back.

In the centre of Berlin a pub with very variety of drinks amazing service and good prices.

Nice and cozy pub with a friendly atmosphere. The furnishings are stylish and appropriate. There was even live music, which sounded really good and added to the atmosphere. Unfortunately it was a bit too loud, so it was difficult to have a conversation. The prices are very fair, especially considering the central location of the bar. There is a large selection of different beers and food is also offered. For a fun evening, a visit here is definitely worth it!

I came in late at night and Sarah and Jesse were very accommodating! The kitchen was closed and I came in on the tail end of a soccer match I got fast service And lovely conversation and I highly recommend this Oasis in the middle of Berlin for lovers of Irish whiskey and traditional Irish and British menus.

This Murphys was once a truly magnificent pub with no major exceptions for improvement. This is no longer the case today, which is a real shame as friends and I have enjoyed visiting this pub on Saturday evenings for 7 years and were regulars. This is now a thing of the past. Here you are literally harassed for your choice of drinks and as a customer you have to justify yourself to an often unfriendly manager. This is the third time this has happened. This is particularly the case when choosing non-alcoholic drinks, and yesterday (where our last visit took place) also when ordering shots with vodka and Berliner Luft. The statement was: "If air is too hard for you, then order something else." This is not only very presumptuous, because as a guest I don't need to justify my choice or be judged by my choice of drinks. Furthermore, the service often tries to do justice to the pub and its guests, which is not easy due to the large crowds of tourists. However, despite ordering, you wait up to a good 90 minutes for your drink or you just don't get served at all. The mockery here is that in the heat of the moment, drinks were pooled with other tables when billing or even expanded to a number that was not ordered. This has happened to us for a long time and there have been discussions. However, this problem is not new to us and due to the wonderful nostalgic evenings, we have so far laughed at it, as this could be clarified by a self-maintained tally sheet on our part. In my opinion, this should not happen on an evening where you should have confidence as soon as you look deeper into the glass and cloud your perception. As already described above, counting and, in the best case, keeping a tally list of your choice of drinks is a recommendation based on our experiences. All in all, we are very disappointed. This Murphys Pub will no longer serve us as customers any time soon, or at all. During the latter visits, which were increasingly frequent and longer apart, we hoped for improvement, but this turned out to be a nil, much to our disadvantage. So there remain beautiful nostalgic moments and great evenings with friends, now we will experience them somewhere else.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They double checked for allergies and made us feel very welcome. They even have the best beer from Hamburg. Highly recommend!

Waiting for beer 30 minutes!!!!

A real old fashioned bar in a city with loads of restaurant/bars. Found it by chance then planned our next day to end up in the vicinity of the bar at beer o'clock. Nice big bar, good few seats, table service. TV for sports even a projection of football onto a bare wall. Background music at a decent level. Can reserve tables. Drink a good price, one of the cheapest we seen, and no compromise on quality. Food cheap as chips, (you pay for what you get) you don't pay 4.90 for a burger and chips and expect to get a premium burger and chips. We had currywurst and chips, food for the price. Liquors are decent prices, shot of Moonshine only 3.90 and for 4cl. Overall a good bar, good easily while away a few hours without breaking the bank.

Be very careful they add a round to your drinks

If you want to watch sports, including NFL football, this is the right place for you. Really crowded on the weekend. That's why it sometimes takes a little longer.

Unfortunately, it's a real shame because it's a good pub with live music, came in at 9:20 p.m. and had to wait 25 minutes for an order and it wasn't full and so there was nothing to eat, the kitchen had just closed, sorry, that's not allowed happen. The waitress didn't care, she probably didn't feel like it. Work on it... Otherwise gladly again. Yesterday January 27th, 2025 and thank you for your reaction

Classic fish and chips but good, the plate is more or less garnished but lacks more fries. Well fried fish but I don't know what it is. Plate served without bread (just two triangles of toast) too bad. Otherwise atypical atmosphere and decoration. Reasonable price.

I’ve been to lots of Irish pubs before and this one is my favorite, fish and chips was delicious and the beer was cold and the prices are decent for Berlin

It's easy to see why this pub is so busy and full with both tourists and locals. The food is fabulous, the beer is great and the service is so friendly and helpful. Live music and a great atmosphere make this a must visit in Berlin.

Quaint pub with a great atmosphere. The waitresses were super nice and very attentive. The orders also arrived very quickly. One star deducted for the “Incredible Burger”. It's not really worth the extra charge, hence the recommendation for the "Murphy's Special"! It's really good and worth the money! The musician was also great and adds to the atmosphere! It was a lovely evening! =)

Crackin' bar right around the corner from Checkpoint Charlie. Some of the cheapest prices in Berlin and attentive and friendly staff. Visited a couple of times for these reasons!

Un bar irlandés de fichas con un muy mal servicio, solo un hombre bar trabajando cuando visitamos. Solo tomamos una copa y nos fuimos porque esperábamos mucho tiempo para esa copa. No sé cuántos grupos vi entrar y salir porque no podían ser servidos, las mesas ni siquiera se limpiaban platos y vasos amontonados. No son un bar irlandés que se hace llamar irlandés porque Newcastle Brown Ale y Strongbow cider no son irlandeses. También Bulmers fuera de Irlanda no es lo mismo que el Reino Unido hizo sidra y no saben nada como Magners que no vendieron Magners. En general muy decepcionado con el bar y no volvería.

While we were in the bar, our wallet with money and documents was stolen. Take care of your belongings when visiting this establishment. You may be left without money and without documents.

One star because a wallet with money and documents was stolen right in the cafe. There are no cameras anywhere. The safety of visitors is not ensured. I do not recommend visiting. Beer is also so-so.

A nice little Irish boozer right on Checkpoint Charlie. Service is excellent, the fish and chips were tasty and the Warsteiner was cold and refreshing. It can get busy at peak times but we had no problem getting a seat and served a drink which is a testament to the efficiency of the staff. It won’t give you anything you can’t get in any Irish Bar outside Ireland but it does it as well as any and better than most. Its greatest asset (other than the beer, the atmosphere and the staff) is that it’s one of the few bars in this fair city that opens so you can get a beer before 5pm in evening! All in all a good place that became our go to bar for the time we were here.

Was outright RACIST. Waiters deliberately ignored us. One white person from our group got up to pay and the main waiter with the big beard said “ I can tell the others aren’t British, f them” because we were coloured

Bad service, a single poured Guiness and no atmosphere or for that matter Tayto crisps. Only an Irish bar by name. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

Waited 40 minutes to have our order taken, and when we tried to flag a waiter down he told us he didn't have time for us, food was bland to top it off

Racist, did not take orders from us and was vocally racist about us to the only white member of our group. Terrible service.

A quaint pub in the middle of Berlin. Directly at Checkpoint Charly. The prices are more than good (actually hardly believable given the location) and the food is good. Unfortunately, the only thing missing from the menu is an Irish Helles. Otherwise there are hardly any wishes left! Top! Thanks for the friendly service on several evenings now when I'm in Berlin.

I only went there to grab a couple of beers on my last night in Berlin. A place is a typical pub with good selection of tap beers and drinks. They also sevre food, bitmI didn't have any. Staff was helpful and attentive. I would definitely come back.

The food was severely disappointing, store bought hockeypuck like burgers. Service was good and was the atmosphere. Just the food was not good.

Service was 2nd to none. Food was delicious. The staff were super friendly and worked very hard indeed to make sure all your needs were taken care off. Highly recommended this place for food and drinks.

Extremely nice service, the whole team exudes warmth and warmth! The two wonderful women Sarah and Magda always enchant me with their lightness and good nature. No matter how busy the store is and how much there is to do, I always come back and wish the whole team a great holiday 🥰.

Great Irish pub to duck into from the rain while exploring around Checkpoint Charlie. Their scotch selection is big and surprisingly inexpensive considering its location.

Came here to watch the football. And planned on having some food here. The young girl who served us originally was lovely, very attentive and friendly. We ordered drinks initially, and then when she brought the drinks over, we asked her if a specific game would be shown there. She said she would ask her boss. As she didnt come back with any info, my partner tried to catch the attention of the man, who i assume is the owner, by saying “excuse me” as he walked past. He initially didn’t acknowledge my partner, but then came back 30 seconds later with a blank look on his face, my partner asked if this particular game would be on. The man then flapped his hands and said something in german and immediately walked off. Very dismissive and extremely rude. We also watched him shouting at one of his young staff and pointing in his face as soon as he’d started work. We obviously decided at this point, to pay our bill and not spend anymore time or money in there. And judging by this mans replies to reviews on here, he clearly isnt very qualified to work in a customer facing business. Awful man. And i fully expect an immature reply to this review, as he seems not to be able to take any criticism at all. So hi hun 🙋🏻‍♀️

No idea if the place is any good as our visit was spoiled by the miserable staff member with the moustache and adidas tracksuit. Came over to take out drinks order with a face like he’d been told his dog had just died. We ordered two drinks which were noted down by him and he walked off. 25 minutes pass by and no drinks whilst everybody else around us had their orders taken and drinks provided in minutes. Moody guy walked past again finally and I said “excuse me” four times to try to get his attention, at which he side-eyed me and walked past me. We stood up and left after that. Awful service.

Fantastic place, good atmosphere and great drinks!

The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. The atmosphere is very cozy and calm, but the service is the worst I have ever experienced in my life, they give such bad service that it even made me laugh. They don't deliver the orders what they are, they take hours to serve you and with an attitude that leaves a lot to be desired. If you want something else you have to harass the waiters to bring it to you. People get desperate waiting for the bill to be brought, they better stop and harass the waiter to pay. If you are not in the mood to put up with the waiters, it is better to find another option.

Good whiskey, food and drink selection at good prices. You can't go wrong with the decision. Live music was great.

Murphy's is a nice Irish pub. We were in Berlin for a few days and met up with friends here. We had hamburgers and fries that tasted good. One evening a young artist sang along to the guitar. That was absolutely top. (You can also throw a small donation into the bucket *wink*). The team is great, the food and drinks were always at the table quickly. My conclusion: a rustic pub with charm that you should try.

The waiter was very unpleasant and would get angry if you paid with a card when there was no sign saying that it was not accepted.

Cheap local beers and the food is spot on.. Loads of English speakers also.. Can't wait to come back

Nothing special at all. The food was not freshly prepared and the schnitzel meat was full of veins. That's probably why almost everyone at the table had nothing but beer. The only positive I noticed - the cafe is pet friendly.

The beer and the music is good. The food is very bad.

It took an hour to drink 1 cocktail. This was because of the very slow "service". Constantly being ignored, grumpy staff and not saying anything after paying. The reactions of the pub say enough about the reviews.

I would classify the staff as slow and unfriendly. Anyone who describes the ambience as great has never been to an Irish pub. No thanks.

Very long wait for our drinks and food. These were also just mediocre. The last of the Guinness never came. The ambience is not really appropriate for an Irish pub. Missing musical background. Little loving decoration. The entire service from the kitchen to the bar was so bored and annoyed. You don't feel welcome here. I absolutely cannot recommend it.

As soon as we arrived a member of staff was rude and frankly sarcastic. After queuing to order and then waiting for the drinks they were served in plastic cups. The drinks advertised 0.5 we got 0.4. The Guinness was ok but the gin and tonic was so bad it was undrinkable. The so called tonic tasted like soda water. Awful place. Never again.

The bartender totally unprofessional..made me wait forever to pay for the drink and got an attitude when I was moving to the cash register to pay for that drink... Believe me I got better things to do that trying to steal a drink plus the answer from the owner make absolutely clear what kind of treatment you can receive here.....be a pleasure not to come back ever again

My partner and I dropped in to this bar for a drink today, as a welcome break from the busy tourist bustle outside. The barman was so rude to me that I cancelled my order. Being Irish and also having worked in an Irishbar in my twenties meant that I understood what it's like when it is busy, but in all my years. I have never met such rude people.

Great pub just as you would imagine. There was even live music. (Thursdays) The waitress was very friendly and considerate.

The days there were by chance, we just wanted something to drink, then the three of us ordered food at unbeatable prices. Cheeseburgers, fish and chips, chili con carne and the beer. It was great.

Was looking forward to visiting, as every Irish person does when abroad when visiting an Irish bar. Visited here twice darling my time in Berlin. Great bar byt unfortunately a let down. Staff are a little obnoxious. Upon observation, a woman arrived with a pram and needed the loo. Loo is downstairs so she proceeded to get her child out and a bar staff rudely gestered wtf and that was downstairs and ordered woman out. She struggled with the door and he just shrugged and walked off. This to me, is not 'Irish hospitality' so was cringe to watch. .ither than that, was an okay experience but I guess that's just Irish bars worldwide not just here.

If you ar staying anywhere near Checkpoint Charlie then this brilliant bar should be your local while you are in Berlin. Great beers at very reasonable prices and good food too but the atmosphere created by the wonderful staff is second to none. Went with my brother and the banter with the staff was wonderful. Often do live music too! A definite must visit!

Food and drink where great. The serbice was a bit on the slower side but it was also quite full so that can be overlooked. The atmothphere send me to ireland so i would say its on point. The proximity to checkpoint charly is a good thing too.

Foods not the best but cheap and fast and, the service could be better (main bartender = great), but of you go in here on a Friday/Sat night its like stepping into a pub in Ireland. Murphys>Guinness in Murphys obviously.

In short, the food and drink was good and cheap. Invites you to linger.

Me my friends and family went to have a few drinks after the Berlin marathon to celebrate and once we got seated we went up to get a drink to be faced with the most grumpy/cheeky bar man I have ever seen refused to serve us atthe bar so we got table service that took roughly 30minutes to get our pint each time safe to say we only stayed for 2 as others started to walk out or complain about the shocking service also, Berlin is a beautiful city but this bar will never get my money again 👍

We went to this venue after taking part in the marathon. We got our first drink and everything was okay we were served promptly. When it came to ordering a 2nd drink I went up to place an order and was basically shouted at saying he wasn't taking orders I found this quite rude and dismissive from the bar man with the long hair. The table beside us overheard our conversation about this and advised us to order through one of the floor staff which we then did. I think the barman needs some lessons in greeting and genuinely just talking to people as he doesn't seem to know how to do that very well. After placing our order for the drink 25 minutes later we still hadn't received our drink it took one of my friends to ask had they forgot about us only to be told they would never do that it. It took 40 minutes in all to be served once so after being in the bar. All in all I would avoid the place like the plague just due to the rude and abrupt barman they have
