Murphy's Irish Pub at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin

The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. The atmosphere is very cozy and calm, but the service is the worst I have ever experienced in my life, they give such bad service that it even made me laugh. They don't deliver the orders what they are, they take hours to serve you and with an attitude that leaves a lot to be desired. If you want something else you have to harass the waiters to bring it to you. People get desperate waiting for the bill to be brought, they better stop and harass the waiter to pay. If you are not in the mood to put up with the waiters, it is better to find another option.

Murphy's is a nice Irish pub. We were in Berlin for a few days and met up with friends here. We had hamburgers and fries that tasted good. One evening a young artist sang along to the guitar. That was absolutely top. (You can also throw a small donation into the bucket *wink*). The team is great, the food and drinks were always at the table quickly. My conclusion: a rustic pub with charm that you should try.

Good whiskey, food and drink selection at good prices. You can't go wrong with the decision. Live music was great.

The waiter was very unpleasant and would get angry if you paid with a card when there was no sign saying that it was not accepted.

Cheap local beers and the food is spot on.. Loads of English speakers also.. Can't wait to come back

The overall service package was good. The side salad could be more generous. Pleasant atmosphere as you would expect from i.pubs.

Service was quick and drinks were coming fast except for the last order that we put in. Had the shepherds pie - not too bad at all. The fish in the fish n chips came a bit soggy, which was a bit questionable. Other than that enjoyed a few beers with a friend

Nothing special at all. The food was not freshly prepared and the schnitzel meat was full of veins. That's probably why almost everyone at the table had nothing but beer. The only positive I noticed - the cafe is pet friendly.

Nice and busy pub Food really good... Price performance is unbeatable and hard to expect in a tourist hotspot like this I go there twice every week for lunch... Fast service, cheerful staff… Conclusion: I can really recommend it

The beer and the music is good. The food is very bad.

It took an hour to drink 1 cocktail. This was because of the very slow "service". Constantly being ignored, grumpy staff and not saying anything after paying. The reactions of the pub say enough about the reviews.

Very long wait for our drinks and food. These were also just mediocre. The last of the Guinness never came. The ambience is not really appropriate for an Irish pub. Missing musical background. Little loving decoration. The entire service from the kitchen to the bar was so bored and annoyed. You don't feel welcome here. I absolutely cannot recommend it.

I would classify the staff as slow and unfriendly. Anyone who describes the ambience as great has never been to an Irish pub. No thanks.

As soon as we arrived a member of staff was rude and frankly sarcastic. After queuing to order and then waiting for the drinks they were served in plastic cups. The drinks advertised 0.5 we got 0.4. The Guinness was ok but the gin and tonic was so bad it was undrinkable. The so called tonic tasted like soda water. Awful place. Never again.

The bartender totally unprofessional..made me wait forever to pay for the drink and got an attitude when I was moving to the cash register to pay for that drink... Believe me I got better things to do that trying to steal a drink plus the answer from the owner make absolutely clear what kind of treatment you can receive here.....be a pleasure not to come back ever again

My partner and I dropped in to this bar for a drink today, as a welcome break from the busy tourist bustle outside. The barman was so rude to me that I cancelled my order. Being Irish and also having worked in an Irishbar in my twenties meant that I understood what it's like when it is busy, but in all my years. I have never met such rude people.

Great pub just as you would imagine. There was even live music. (Thursdays) The waitress was very friendly and considerate.

Cute place, but my god fix the service yall.

Absolutely brilliant bar... The food is amazing.(try the argentinian beef.. You will not be disappointed its amazing).. The service is second to none.. All the sports you want to watch and live music too... If you go to berlin then this pub is a must visit pub.. Cheaper beer than most other places and an excellent choice

One of the most unfriendly service I've ever experienced, if you want to relax with a drink, don't choose this place. The kind clerk also talked about paying by card.

The portions are generous for the price it costs. Fast service and good atmosphere on site. Large selection of beers.

The days there were by chance, we just wanted something to drink, then the three of us ordered food at unbeatable prices. Cheeseburgers, fish and chips, chili con carne and the beer. It was great.

Was looking forward to visiting, as every Irish person does when abroad when visiting an Irish bar. Visited here twice darling my time in Berlin. Great bar byt unfortunately a let down. Staff are a little obnoxious. Upon observation, a woman arrived with a pram and needed the loo. Loo is downstairs so she proceeded to get her child out and a bar staff rudely gestered wtf and that was downstairs and ordered woman out. She struggled with the door and he just shrugged and walked off. This to me, is not 'Irish hospitality' so was cringe to watch. .ither than that, was an okay experience but I guess that's just Irish bars worldwide not just here.

Visited on several occasions for lunch and drinks on our trip to Berlin. Great atmosphere , fun environment … food simple but tasty and good value , good drinks selection and great location

Food and drink where great. The serbice was a bit on the slower side but it was also quite full so that can be overlooked. The atmothphere send me to ireland so i would say its on point. The proximity to checkpoint charly is a good thing too.

If you ar staying anywhere near Checkpoint Charlie then this brilliant bar should be your local while you are in Berlin. Great beers at very reasonable prices and good food too but the atmosphere created by the wonderful staff is second to none. Went with my brother and the banter with the staff was wonderful. Often do live music too! A definite must visit!

Foods not the best but cheap and fast and, the service could be better (main bartender = great), but of you go in here on a Friday/Sat night its like stepping into a pub in Ireland. Murphys>Guinness in Murphys obviously.

In short, the food and drink was good and cheap. Invites you to linger.

Great Irish bar near check point Charlie

A classic Irish bar, it is a tourist attraction due to its location, but it has a significant local customer base.

The food was overcooked and the table staff looked like they were on vacation.

Me my friends and family went to have a few drinks after the Berlin marathon to celebrate and once we got seated we went up to get a drink to be faced with the most grumpy/cheeky bar man I have ever seen refused to serve us atthe bar so we got table service that took roughly 30minutes to get our pint each time safe to say we only stayed for 2 as others started to walk out or complain about the shocking service also, Berlin is a beautiful city but this bar will never get my money again 👍

We went to this venue after taking part in the marathon. We got our first drink and everything was okay we were served promptly. When it came to ordering a 2nd drink I went up to place an order and was basically shouted at saying he wasn't taking orders I found this quite rude and dismissive from the bar man with the long hair. The table beside us overheard our conversation about this and advised us to order through one of the floor staff which we then did. I think the barman needs some lessons in greeting and genuinely just talking to people as he doesn't seem to know how to do that very well. After placing our order for the drink 25 minutes later we still hadn't received our drink it took one of my friends to ask had they forgot about us only to be told they would never do that it. It took 40 minutes in all to be served once so after being in the bar. All in all I would avoid the place like the plague just due to the rude and abrupt barman they have

Great pub with very good pub food, super friendly service. You can sit outside and a small band could perform at a birthday party. Now on the list to visit again

Murphy's will see us again and again. Visited several times and as always it was just great. With the quick and attentive service, who always has a nice saying, you can tell that they enjoy working there. Add to that the great food (schnitzel, steak and nachos are a real highlight) at really good prices and a great beer and the evening can only be good. If you're there on Friday or Saturday, you'll be lucky enough to hear live music. You really can't get any more pub than that. Our next visit won't be until S' Patrick's Day! Everything is really right! P.s. In addition to the normal public traffic, they also managed the big birthday celebration without any problems.

I came here thrice just to try and experience if I get a good service , but it doesn’t seem the case , this is the worst Irish pub in whole Berlin, I have visited many others Irish pubs like Kilkenny at Alexander Platz , Molly Malone’s , and many more but never got such bad experience like checkpoint Charlie Murphy’s, while ordering food I requested that the fries in my food can it be more spicy as like spicy food and I got reply from the service guy that if u want food you can go to other restaurants this is a pub, which is crazy way to talk to customers moreover the burger I ordered was not fresh at all , I’ve attached photo , I don’t understand the reason I’m from another country like India maybe due to this or I don’t know, highly not recommended

A total scam. Don't order the steak. What they say is 200 grams of meat is not even 2 grams. The girl who serves has less cool than a line! I felt completely ripped off and would not return.

Restaurante ao lado do checkpoint, fomos por já estar com fome durante o turismo. Não achei a comida muito boa, e o lugar muito quente!!! Poderiam ligar o ar condicionado na parte de dentro.

Hands down one of the best Irish pubs I've visited! Nice music, not to loud, but still enjoyable. Genuin bar with big variety of drinks, beer and liquor. The food was OK, not spiced as I would. I'm not an expert of Irish food, but I recon that there should be more spice to the food. Def comming back to this place again next time I visit Berlin! Recommend others to enjoy this nice place as well.

We were overcharged for a beer and the guy who served us was very abrupt and dismissed us on several occasions- food was average - We will not return unfortunately because of the attitude of the staff .

Well priced food, customer service wasn’t great

The price-performance ratio is great. The baked nachos are highly recommended. The beer menu is a dream for Untapped users and people who want to try their way through different types.

The bartender was somewhat attentive and was very nice. The waitress acted like she did not want to be working. She told me the Ratsherrn Pale Ale was good but in reality it was a horrendous beer. Maybe it didn't pair well with what I was eating (a burger). I do not recommend that beer though. If you want a burger and a Guinness with potentially less than great service, then this is your place!

Simply enough, it’s amazing, drinks and the food are cheap! And the owner is an amazing guy just like the guys that works at the place!

Avoid this place, slow service, low quality food and rude vibes. 15mins for drinks , 45min for food. I never submit a bad review but this really deserves a warning to others. I wished I read other reviews before sitting here.

There is such a negative vibe in this place.... Everyone is either rude or not caring to look at your face. After we waited about 10 mins outside, as no staff came out, we went inside and ordered. They acted like it was such a wrong thing to do. Food was okay. Looking at their comments to the reviews, i completely understand why the staff is in such a bad vibe. If i was working in such a bad vibed and understaffed place, i would also be in a rude mood. Good luck for the tourists!

A cozy pub with a nice atmosphere on the edge of the center of Berlin

Typisches Irish Pub - gutes Bier, jedoch wurden die Biersorten beim Taster nicht erklärt, teilweise auch nicht ganz voll. Essen (Nachos und Shepards Pie) war typisch. Nachos mit Cheese waren lecker. Service war mittelmäßig, unmotivierter und unwissender Kellner.

A wide selection of delicious beer, whiskey and food. Nice atmosphere, reminiscent of a typical pub. Service is nice and friendly. Live music on Friday and Saturday around 9 p.m. Always nice to experience that. I can only recommend the pub to anyone who wants to drink a beer there or spend a nice evening. I've been there a few times myself and will visit him again when I get the chance. Bottom up!

Cozy place to go for a beer. Lots of choice of beers for a fair price. Quality of the food not great but for the price there is not much to say. Glasses could be cleaned a little better or differently. The beer kills you once you get it on the table.

Its murphys but unlike the one in mitte its prices are cheaper and there are plenty of beers, ales and food on the menue. Like this bar. Great for a refreshing break whils between checkpoint charlie and the berlin wall monuments.

The bartender was a straight up "hooligan" attitude, lol, angry at everyone. Not sure if it was his normal schtick, but it was entertaining and we did get served. Angered the heck outta two older gentleman trying to enjoy a beer when one called him rude. They ended up leaving mid bartender rant - because he went on and on after they left. Other than that a normal Irish pub.

Absolutely fierce nachos... I would say the service was top nacho! Great beer service and nachos! Hot damn those gosh darn nachos were delish! If I had a last wish before I am claimed by the realm of the beyond... I would wish for more chilli con carne nachos from this establishment. If you think I'm exaggerating.... Try them yourself 🤪

We sat down for lunch today 7/18/24 and the girl who served us was apparently having a very bad day. His face showed it. We ordered a beer and then waited about 20-30 minutes to order the food. When we go to order it, it tells us that it will take 1 hour to bring it. You could have warned us earlier. And we all have bad days! I understand that. But he managed to make us leave the place with a bad impression. It made us waste time. I don't recommend it 🥺

This place had quite a bit of a street appeal, and a great atmosphere once inside. The positivity was cut severely short by an impatient and borderline aggressive waitress. It took nearly fifteen minutes to place drink orders, with most taps being empty. She did not bother to tell us that even at 2PM, the kitchen was completely hopeless. She explained only 20 minutes later (when she bothered to return with a horrible attitude) that the kitchen would not prepare any dish for an hour. Immediately we asked for our tab, which she was unable to bring for another twenty minutes. We opted to leave more than our tab in cash at the table and go next door, and were rudely followed asking to pay. You’d think there might have been attention to the table before chasing out customers, but that just was not the case. I try exceptionally harder to be polite when traveling, but very much regret those manners at this place.

Drinks and food are, in my opinion, quite inexpensive. I've spent evenings in more expensive pubs. It's absolutely okay to wait a little longer for service because the pub is packed. The live musician was great too! In short: great evening and we had fun! =) Addendum: Another nice evening, but... the toilet is now on the verge of total failure. Only one of two taps... and no towels or hairdryer to dry off... really now? And what's this nonsense about no cocktails because you're sitting outside??? There was an emergency solution, but that can't be it!? Therefore: two stars deducted!

Great atmosphere and beer. I do not recommend the food here - Fish&chips (a small piece of greasy fish, Cheesburger - horror, thin hard meat from the freezer, cheese cold, firm, dry artificial bun)

The waitress was not very nice too us

Service is absolutely terrible. Honestly, it’s like they don’t want you here. I’d recommend anywhere else. Such a shame but we ended up laughing about it.
