Tonight, after the event at the arena, we ordered food at the restaurant. It took forever, but that wasn't a problem given the volume of orders. We went up to the restaurant with our food, which was packed to go. I've never seen a McDonald's like this in my life. All the tables and floor were dirty, and it hadn't been cleaned the entire time. I asked the sales employee if they needed to clean upstairs, and they replied that there were no staff and I should complain, which I was doing right now. Maybe they really should inform the responsible veterinary office in Essen. Then they should only offer takeaway if the restaurant is left in such a filthy state.

Today I bought my child a Happy Meal at McDonald's. When we got home and my child wanted to eat the cheeseburger, he discovered a long, light hair in it. I find it incomprehensible why McDonald's employees don't follow basic hygiene rules. Clearly, they pay no attention to personal hygiene or the use of protective clothing. Many employees don't wear gloves, hairnets, or other protective clothing for their beards or hair. This unfortunately has a very negative impact on the quality of the products. Who takes responsibility and reimburses in such a case? The walk to the branch is not short, and returning in the evening is unreasonable. I urge management to place more emphasis on hygiene and monitoring their staff so that such incidents do not occur again in the future.

That's a rare occurrence. Unfortunately, I encountered an incompetent waitress who gave my order to another customer in front of me without checking the order number. She then got rude and blamed me for not being quick enough! She then took so long preparing a replacement cappuccino that I was in danger of missing my train. So I left the restaurant and headed for the train without a drink and having accomplished nothing. 5 euros and a lot of wasted energy for nothing. Simply unfriendly and incompetent. Luckily, there are plenty of other options at Essen Central Station for a delicious hot drink.

I went to McDonald's today and ordered a Matcha Oat Regular. Unfortunately, the drink was very sweet and obviously sugary—even though I assumed it didn't contain any sugar. I politely asked the employee about it, but she responded rudely, claiming there was no sugar and that she made it herself. This was disappointing, as I was honestly asking. Fortunately, another employee came over and responded very kindly and professionally. She explained to me that matcha naturally contains sugar, apologized, and immediately offered me an alternative—a cappuccino—which she made fresh for me. Many thanks to this second employee for her excellent customer service! I wish all employees would treat customers with this kind of friendliness and openness. Unfortunately, the first reaction was not appropriate.

What a weird parking situation that is! You order at home, drive there to pick it up, and... can't find a parking space. There are no parking spaces for pickups. I had to drive all the way around the city twice, only to end up back where I was. There was no way forward or backward, neither in front of McDonald's nor at the other end of the station. Of course, I was late, and of course, everything was cold. And of course (how could it be otherwise when picking up food is already a torture), they hadn't even made a new plate of fries - and the Coke would have been forgotten if I hadn't asked twice. Extremely disappointing. And the fact that there's no restroom on-site is a bad joke. They're probably trying to curb through traffic, entirely at the expense of paying customers. There's a clientele hanging around upstairs... you can't imagine this.

I find a 15-minute wait for an order borderline. The beggars around the checkout area are simply tolerated and ignored by the staff – an unpleasant waiting experience for customers like me. Extremely overwhelmed employees who prefer to hand out orders in groups of 3-4 rather than individually – they are labeled (with the order number) and simply put to the side.... I missed my last train home because of this and had to wait another 20 minutes for the next bus (the bus takes 15 minutes longer than the train) to arrive home with the cold food (after more than 50 minutes). I would like to complain about an incident that occurred on June 24, 2025, at your branch in Essen Central Station. An employee at your branch behaved extremely rudely and disrespectfully towards me. I was shouted at for no reason and eventually even thrown out of the restaurant – without me doing anything. I have the impression that this behavior was directed at me solely because I wear a headscarf. I consider this a clear form of discrimination. The employee in question was tall, had darker skin, and white hair. I find it very regrettable that such behavior occurs at a company like McDonald's, which publicly advocates for diversity and respect. I therefore ask you to take this incident seriously and consider appropriate measures.

When I looked at it briefly, I hadn't noticed until I was on the train that there was mayo on it, even though I canceled this sauce so that the burger was vegan. This McDonald's branch is just bad and not recommended because the food is cold and looks unappetizing, the service is unfriendly and unqualified regarding the menus they sell, for example the last Happy Meal was missing the toys, the sauce with the fries and that's why it makes sense to remove the branch in the train station and open it outside because the employees can't cope with this pressure and stress either.

On my last visit to McDonald's, I saw an employee using a mop to clean the tiled wall in the back. I don't know whether the mop was also used on the floor before - but just the thought of it raises questions about hygiene. What I found particularly worrying was that the mop was then placed on a work surface. When work is already being done like this in the visible area, one wonders what it looks like behind the scenes. I have had contact with McDonald's in the past regarding other issues. It was explained to me at the time that they were subcontractors. An absolute low point in terms of customer service. What happened in McDrive tonight is no longer unkind - it was simply disrespectful. No “hello”, no “please”, no “thank you”. Instead, you were fobbed off with choppy one-word sentences, as if you were a nuisance. When you're hungry in the middle of the night, you expect at least a modicum of politeness. We were there early on Friday at breakfast time. We ordered at the terminal, there is no table service there. You will be called and can then pick up the food. The MC Donalds franchise is not yet fully adhered to here, which is due to the premises in the main station (see below). In some cases it begins with the order and ends particularly with the issue: It is important to note here that goods not ordered at the kiosk are handed over at the checkout in the "split function system". This means: don't run too far away and keep an eye out for your order number. You have to know that first :-), so don't go to the pickup area. I believe that the output temperature should be kept more in mind. Depending on the situation and the person, the staff can range from very friendly to very brisk, which you certainly have to be here. At MC Cafe you may be forgotten because not all employees cover this area. So just let us know in a friendly manner. The peace of the market here is regularly disturbed by conspicuous customers, but unfortunately the wrong people always get it when a few guests don't have themselves under control. Due to this, as well as human errors on the part of the customer, police intervention is sometimes necessary. Due to a certain confusion with the last order and also due to the market situation, we incurred additional travel costs on our last visit. The McDonald's contact form/system works very well (you're just not allowed to change the app in between), because this time I reported some anomalies and quickly received a very friendly and open-minded response. As I learned, the company will optimize the store again, which will certainly not be cheap. See you soon.

Once again, my friends and I went to our favorite restaurant after an extremely valuable musical evening in Düsseldorf's "Weltkunstzimmer". In order to continue to be offered sophisticated upper class, we decided on the branch in the main train station. The station hall, decorated for Christmas, exuded a unique atmosphere. The warm lights, the ride-on floor mop and the numerous security guards gave us a feeling of contemplation at a late hour. Our expectations were almost exceeded at the location! Lively activity at the ordering terminals, fully occupied subtly sticky tables, a background noise like at the Christmas market, what more could you want! Of course, good food. We ordered a lavish selection of our favorite dishes and were excited to satisfy our hunger. The waiting time was reasonable considering the number of customers. Although we had stated that we would eat on site when ordering, we received our food packed, at least stuffed into a large bag to save resources and without napkins. Unfortunately, a few side dishes were missing and a burger wasn't prepared as advertised. However, a complaint was no longer possible because the extremely uncommunicative restaurant staff kept our order receipt. Otherwise the quality of the food was as usual. Absolute negative point: There are no toilets in the restaurant, you have to leave the train station to relieve yourself. This has a huge impact on sociability! After we were finished (both with the food and with the many interesting people around) we headed home. Nice!

The McDonald's in the main station is a place to go to get something to eat at night. They are even open 24 hours a day on weekends. I placed my order myself on the screen where I could select my own menu, paid, but the machine didn't give me an order number. The employee then told me that no payment had been made. Because I trusted her, I placed the order again at the checkout and paid, but now I have paid for the menu twice and only received one. I told the employee I didn't receive the receipt and she didn't even check to make sure the paper was blank. She just ignored me when I asked her about it. Very bad customer service. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

The food always tastes good, but when you order at 2:54 and don't get the goods until 3:32 because bullying people get priority, then that's really sad..... And thus missing the NE and having to wait another hour... But apparently you have enough satisfied customers

Update: I had breakfast here around 8 a.m., unfortunately access to the seating was still closed at that time. As a customer, I would like to be able to sit as soon as it opens. Wanted to share my experience with you, I like the shop when it's breakfast time, then there's little going on and everything feels like it's going according to plan, but when normal business starts it's too crowded and you sometimes wait ages for your food. If you want to eat at peak times and want to save yourself the hassle, you should go somewhere else. The new system means that orders are being taken diligently, but unfortunately the kitchen (Bob Station and Grill Station) in technical terms cannot keep up. What I personally don't like about the new system, which is the meat for e.g. B. Cheeseburger is pre-fried and placed on the burger if necessary. In the past, the fresh, hot, still juicy and fatty piece of meat was placed directly on the burger, while you could still taste the grill aromas and the cheese was nicely melted, with the new system you prepare the meat separately and put it there to be tempered, when a customer orders the so-called tempered piece of patty, the now dry piece is placed on the burger and exactly the opposite happens, the grill flavors are missing, it is dry and the cheese hardly melts . Many people may not mind, I personally can taste the difference clearly and since then I haven't eaten a cheeseburger anymore, except in shops that still prepare the burgers according to the old system.

I had to smile: They simply saved on the analogue cheese for the Filet o Fish. I've been here several times over the years and the quality and service varies. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.

The food is ok but the service staff is incredibly rude. You need thick skin here. Customer service is different. The facilities are ok, but homeless people also chill here.

Bad and rude service. We ordered Mcflurry and the ice cream machine suddenly didn't work. Final manager came and said in a rude tone that we won't cancel our order. We would either have to wait indefinitely or throw money away. No excuses at all and actually totally enjoyed incinerating people. This is incredible. Never again!!!!

Avoid this store at all costs. I paid for my food and then waited until it was ready. After my number wasn't called for 20 minutes, I went to ask and was told that my food had simply been given out to a stranger. They then said that I was unlucky and that my food had already been handed out, and I was underscored that I had already picked up the food, even though the cameras could prove that I had paid and then waited in the store the whole time. After 5 minutes of discussion with the unfriendly staff (no one can speak German properly) they reluctantly gave me my order. Once and never again, I can't help anyone. The last dirty shop.

I bought a menu at night as a Deutsche Bahn employee and unfortunately there was nothing left. Simply disgusting. Fries were cold and later I had stomach cramps from the cheeseburger and even vomited. Just disgusting. Unfortunately I reacted too late, it could well be that I have food poisoning had.

We ordered netted potatoes and several regular fries came with them. The cheese from the McCrispy was solid and the meat was fried very hard and didn't fill the burger bun. The McChicken Classic had a similar problem. On the one hand, there wasn't much meat, and on the other hand, the bread was also moldy. When we returned it, they said the greenish color on the burger bread was from the toaster. But that doesn't make it any better. Nevertheless, we got a new, fresh McChicken Classic. The only thing that was drinkable was the Lipton Ice Tea, which even came with a straw.

This is the most disgusting store I've ever seen. I bet if a manager from the US saw this, the lights would be out within minutes. The floor in this store is sticky, as if it had never been mopped. The service is lame and not particularly friendly. This store is a disgrace to the chain!

We used the McDrive today, and when we got home, we unfortunately discovered that the burger didn't have a patty. We tried calling, but they cut us off every time! This McDonald's is getting worse every month, both in terms of service and quality.
