McDonald's in Gelsenkirchen

Completely disorganized, I waited over 30 minutes for cold, unsalted fries, a drink, and one of the worst burgers of my life. Sure, McDonald's has never been known for good quality, but for €12, what they offered was an absolute rip-off.

Food was okay, and coffee too. A Mac meal and garlic nuggets were super delicious... And for a bit of fun, a 20cm cheese/chicken nugget with new sauces and a chicken burger with McFizz, Sprite/raspberry, and Skiwasser.

I've been in the drive-thru since 10:16 PM, and there were four (yes, four!!!) cars ahead of me. It's now 10:34 PM, and there are still two cars ahead of me. The wait times here are just incredibly long!

I waited a long time for an order that wasn't even very expensive, and it never arrived. I left empty-handed, and my money was lost.

Multiple items were missing from the order! The franchisee hasn't responded to feedback. It's strange that the brand doesn't care how it's presented, as long as the money keeps flowing. Tip: There's a Burger King and a KFC across the street, so you don't have to order here and pay for food you don't get.

Despite not having many customers, the store was very dirty. A spilled Coke was all over a table and chair, and it was nearly impossible to find a table where we could sit with children. We ended up wiping it down ourselves. The women's restroom was dirty, with paper on the floor and urine on it. The hand sanitizer dispenser in the middle of the store didn't work. Not very pleasant.

Unfortunately, I'm forced to give one star. I'd prefer to give it none at all. The wait times and service at this restaurant are an absolute disaster, and I haven't just noticed this after one visit; it's the same every time. You wait forever to be served, and then you wait even longer for the food to arrive. Therefore, I cannot recommend this fast-food restaurant.

I've never seen a branch like this before. I used to work there myself, but in Krefeld. The service isn't keeping up. Customers wait forever. The carts are so full that you can't even put a tray in them. The floor is dirty, and everything is flying all over the floor. The tables are also full of trays. The store should really be closed, then we wouldn't have to see this kind of thing. I know very clean McDonald's branches, but not this one. They should have an unsolicited inspection, then this branch would fail. Whoever owns this branch doesn't have good staff and, unfortunately, doesn't have great shift managers. This store is abysmal. I'll never come back.

Congratulations on the dirtiest restroom in the Ruhr area. Upon entering, it stinks of urine so horribly that it takes your breath away! Disgusting! The food was okay!

For privacy reasons, I won't post any personal descriptions or photos here. However, I find it truly rude that an employee stands and eats (with their fingers, of course) right where they then process the orders that come in. After seeing that, I canceled my order at the counter and left!

Sometimes the drive-thru wait is at least 25 minutes. Who has that much time?

After a long time, I ordered from the big M again via Lieferando – and as always, I was disappointed. Once again, only half of the order was delivered. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach the delivery person by phone, I was finally offered a refund for some of the missing items. I can now finally say that this is my last order!

Never been to such a dirty McDonald's. The nuggets were inedible. I have no idea how long they were swimming in grease...absolutely disgusting...the look behind the counter was...beyond words. Regards, the health department is pleased.

I just don't feel like ordering food here anymore... no matter what time you come, it takes hours to get your food, or even to order. And when you finally get it, it's cold... It's no longer a fast-food restaurant... the staff are completely overwhelmed!

On 27.08.25 evening I was in a restaurant, there was a lady with an insulin pump, she had problems with guests and she handled the situation very friendly and nicely. The restaurant has the best employees

On August 16, 2025, I placed a very small order at the Adenauerallee 126a, 45891 Gelsenkirchen branch: a portion of small fries, 6 chicken nuggets, a small coffee, and a croissant. Although I had ordered early and was obviously ahead of several other customers at the counter, I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for my order. I politely asked the employee twice how long it would take. Unfortunately, I received no clear answer, let alone an apology or explanation. Instead, I felt ignored, even though my order was neither complex nor particularly time-consuming. I understand that there may be waits during peak times. However, in this case, it was unclear why orders placed after me were processed more quickly—especially since my order was very manageable. I would appreciate feedback on this incident and hope that you will take appropriate internal measures to improve service in the future.

This isn't the first time they've been confused at the front and no one really knows what their job is. I'm missing half the food I ordered at the store. Cheeky for the money.

Unfortunately, McDonald's isn't what it used to be. Everything is getting more expensive, and the service leaves a lot to be desired! Cleanliness is nonexistent, you wait forever for the food, and 95% of the time it's cold. The employees always seem listless and are sometimes unfriendly. I'd rather not even mention the cleanliness of the restrooms. Sorry, but that's it for us...

I was there with my mother after a five-hour train ride. I was on vacation. When I walked in, the food cart to my left was overcrowded. The service at the checkout and the counter was horrible; we stood there for about an hour until the food was ready. I ordered Happy Meal for my son, and the carton was also a disaster. Unfortunately, the food was cold, so I'm sorry, but for me, it was the first and last time. Nothing against McDonald's, but there are a lot of unemployed people, and in my opinion, there are too few staff here.

The atmosphere was very loud and the wait times were very long. When I asked about it, I received a rude response.

I reported it straight away - the table was sticky... the employee told me she would come and clean it... which of course didn't happen.... the lattice potatoes were cold.... I went to the toilet after eating... I didn't take any pictures... just disgusting... the sink... as if it hadn't been cleaned for a week... I'll save the toilet trip for when I get home... the tray trolley was so full, you could have taken three out of it!!!

Unfortunately, we had to wait 25 minutes for our food. The burger was cold and the fries were missing. I went straight to the counter and told them they were missing a medium fry. The young lady I told asked another employee if she had given me the fries. She then came to my table and looked at my order. The whole thing took another 3-4 minutes, and my food was wasted. The tables were all dirty!!! There won't be a next time.

The employees are nice, but they don't seem to take order and cleanliness in the store seriously. If you stand in the McDrive, you get a little more insight behind the scenes (see photos). From now on, I won't buy anything more than a coffee there.

One star is far too high for such rudeness and incompetence. The employee took the order incorrectly, and when we pointed this out, we were met with nothing but rude comments and no help. Bottom line, never again!

I've never experienced such a good performance as last night after the Iron Maiden concert: The place was packed with metal fans, some of them quite drunk. There were so many orders that the monitor couldn't even display all the order numbers. The same question a thousand times: "My number isn't showing, what's going on? When will my food be ready?" And the staff? Super friendly, super hardworking, and in a good mood. Respect – I hope they gave me extra pay for that, so that yesterday was worth it for more than just the owner. They deserve it!

I'm a frequent guest here, and I can only say that the shift manager (with the insulin pump) does her job very professionally. She's very nice and always friendly.

After 12 minutes, I got my food. The fries were cold, and so was the hamburger. The bread, as you can see in the picture, wasn't that fresh; it was very crumbly. The only thing that was warm and fresh were the chicken nuggets. Even though I ordered them with chili sauce, the sweet and sour sauce was in the bag, and there were no napkins. For such cold food, I stood in the car line and paid.

The shift supervisor in charge [with insulin pump] (June 29, 2025, approximately 9 p.m.) was incredibly irritable and aggressive from the moment she arrived until she left the restaurant. She insulted and yelled at colleagues. Furthermore, a group of approximately seven children was removed from the premises because they (each) wanted to purchase a discounted ice cream by reviewing the restaurant. The shift supervisor acted as if the discount granted would be deducted from her salary. During the course of the stay, each employee was humiliated several times. This is completely unacceptable. A warning would be justified.

Very disappointing – never again! I was at the McDonald's in Gelsenkirchen yesterday and I'm honestly shocked. The employees' behavior was completely unprofessional – loud, silly, and disrespectful in front of the customers. Instead of taking care of orders or customers, they were joking around and laughing. Communication between them was chaotic, and it seemed as if no one knew what they were supposed to be doing. The store management? Unfortunately, they were just as disorganized and overwhelmed. As a customer, you feel neither taken seriously nor welcome. I haven't experienced such behavior at any other McDonald's. It's a real shame – I definitely won't be coming back.

The worst McDonald's I've been to. None of the employees know anything or cares about the customers. They work so slowly. Waited over 50 minutes for an order that was cold and partly wrong. Unbelievable. I wasn't even the only one with me; there were about three other customers who waited that long for a cold order. And when one of the waiting customers wanted his money back because his order still wasn't ready, one of the employees simply said no, they still have to wait for the order.

I was relaxing at MCS and just wanted to get a damn McFlurry. After 10 to 15 minutes, I received my diabetes to-go and discovered that the cups are stored in such a way that they absorb the heat from the machine. Two minutes later, I had slush ice cream in a slush ice cream puddle.

This shop is the absolute worst. When we entered there were two cars in the mc Drive-In, and everyone who came in after us was served. After 15 minutes we asked if we could order, and the only answer we got was that we're busy and understaffed and we'll have to be patient. Sorry, I have no understanding for this kind of thing. We won't be going into this crappy shop again.

The people in charge at McDonald's should take a look at this store. A few months ago, I was told by a HR employee, "What are all they doing here? Don't they have a home?" which I found more than cheeky. Yesterday, I gave it another chance. I went there and the terminal wasn't working, so I went to the service staff, but they don't pay any attention to you for a penny. I don't know how long I stood there, but when my colleague asked me if I had already ordered and I replied, "No, they don't pay any attention here," only then did they think it was necessary. I wanted to tell the lady my order, but everything I wanted—and we're talking about the classics—was sold out, and the store had been open for at least four hours. I don't know what's wrong, but apparently they not only need to train their staff on how to deal with guests, but also rethink their planning for how much food they should have on hand per day at a location like this.

I'm pretty sure this was my burger's second time in the deep fryer because the breading was pretty dark and the meat was dry. I had the crispy chicken burger and then the cleaner worked without gloves, she cleaned the floor and then washed the tables without her hands. I think Team Wallraff should urgently stop by here.

Absolute disaster!!! Went there with my daughter today before the cinema. A Happy Meal and a Mc Smart menu......waited 25 minutes for the order. If I hadn't already paid at the terminal I would have simply left. Definitely the last time there.

My two children and I had to wait in the car for over 30 minutes after placing our order. We would probably have been full faster at home. In the parking lot we noticed that the order was incomplete. When asked, the employee explained that she was on duty alone on a Saturday afternoon. That may explain the situation, but it is no excuse. The organization was poor and not customer friendly.

Hello I was there today and made a larger order. I had to wait over 40 minutes. Then the employees said that they were taking my note away and then 10 minutes later I got my order. Everyone liked the sauces. That's an impertinence. All the children were disappointed and the employees there are friendly. They all make you smile. That's not normal anymore. I know that I was there the last time. The previous three times there was always something missing, but if you take the money you can take the money. Maybe they'll respond sadly someone from Mcdonnels because I pay so much money and then so much is missing, over 10 sauces were missing 😡😡😡😡

The waiting time in Mc Drive is clearly too long. It seems as if an order is taken, paid for, then prepared and served. Not all of this in parallel, but rather slowly one after the other. There is a clear need for improvement here!
