A traditional German pub, just a short walk from the main tourist area but without the touristy prices. The atmosphere feels very local and authentic. The landladies are lovely, welcoming, patient, and happy to let us practice our German without any pressure. At the same time, they were more than willing to switch to English if we got stuck, which made everything much easier. Great beer, hearty food, and a warm, relaxed vibe. Perfect if you want to experience a genuine German Kneipe without feeling out of place. Highly recommended!

If I had to recommend a restaurant to a stranger in Hanover, it would undoubtedly be Max Walloschke. Since 1952, this restaurant has been serving good, home-style cooking and transports you straight back to the good old days. The quaint pub, with its typical style, and the charming staff create a wonderful atmosphere. Max Walloschke was not only a wonderful wrestler, but also a great innkeeper, whose legacy lives on today. The beef roulade was tender and flavorful, perfectly seasoned with a homemade sauce. The green beans and crispy fried potatoes went perfectly with it. The fried potatoes were particularly outstanding – really crispy and superbly seasoned. All of this made for a fantastic combination that simply rounds out this classic. This is what Lower Saxony tastes like, this is what home is like, and this is what tradition tastes like. I couldn't be happier and would happily recommend this restaurant.

Here you'll find solid German food in a rustic setting. The lady working was so kind and moved us from the counter to a regular table for an hour to eat. Old school is the order of the day here.

We visited the "quaint pub" ;-) in the center of Hanover on Saturday. After a quick phone call, we were able to get three seats. The food was of very good quality, and the quantity was perfectly adequate. We had the homemade aspic with fried potatoes, a sambal schnitzel, and scrambled eggs – also with fried potatoes – as well as two side salads. There were no complaints, and the prices were also very reasonable. The service was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back and would happily recommend "Max Walloschke"! We were a group of 16 people, and the reservation went smoothly. Orders were taken after a bit of a wait. The children were served quickly and received their food promptly. Unfortunately, the meal for adults (10 people) took almost two hours. While they did refill their drinks, and we could easily have finished three large beers, the wait was too long. They kindly gave us a shot of schnapps, but a slightly faster service would have been nice.

If you like good, home-style food, this is the place for you...simple but very good cuisine...everything is just right...down-to-earth and good...

I was on a business trip and stumbled upon it through a Google search. Very good, honest, home-style cooking, very tasty. Where can you find something like that these days? Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly rare. Nice, cozy atmosphere. Very friendly service, good value for money. If I'm in Hanover again, I'd be happy to go back. A+

The very best Schenitzel! I tried the Schenitzel with egg on it. And I wish I could try it forever in my life! It is an absolutly must do if you are around in Hanover. The staff were super friendly and local and they greet us very pleasently. The resturant has amazing atmosphere as well. you will not be dissappointed.

In Hannover eine Institution. Eisbein mit Sauerkraut, Salz oder Bratkartoffeln, ein Genuss. Die Bratkartoffeln kommen nicht aus der Tüte, hausgemacht natürlich. Das eisbein reicht locker für zwei. Die hausgemachte Sülze kann man nicht besser machen. Dazu frisches Bier, was will man mehr. Die Schnitzel werden hier noch geklopft und nicht aus der Metro bezogen. Die Preise… eher moderat, das rosige Eisbein kostet keine 20 Euro. Wir kommen wieder

One of the last original corner bars with good home cooking in downtown Hanover. The menu has something for everyone, from fried potatoes with fried eggs, to salads and currywurst fries, to the classic pork knuckle and of course knuckles. The knuckle and pork knuckle dishes are the trademark of the cuisine and are known far beyond the city limits. The service team is super friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The price-performance ratio is definitely right here, as the food is of high quality and regional. Plus, the portions are so big that no one goes home hungry 😉 Since the shop is always very busy, I would recommend reserving a table in advance.

In this inn you can experience real local cuisine! We ordered the Calenberger Pfannenschlag and the Swiss-style schnitzel with fried potatoes. Particularly noteworthy were the fried potatoes – they were sensational and highly recommended. The ambience seemed rustic and harmonious and fit perfectly with the overall impression. Finally, a Lüttje Lage rounded off the evening perfectly in this traditional Hanoverian restaurant.

This was a recommendation from the hotel for a traditional German restaurant. We were not disappointed. The food is hearty German fare and they have a good selection of beers. It’s not the biggest restaurant, but we were lucky and got a table inside.

Enjoy home-style German cuisine at reasonable prices. We repeat it every year, and there are various variations of Eisbein, pork knack, schnitzel, and beer as well as weizen. A variety of potatoes come with the dishes you order, and you can enjoy various potato flavors such as fried, mashed, and mixed with vegetable mash. There aren't that many seats, so reservations are recommended if possible.

I love Max Waloschke. A quaint old pub. We always meet here with our Doppelkopf group - and then we don't play Doppelkopf, but rather chat, eat and drink. The food is good, home-style, the service is super friendly and the atmosphere is nostalgic. We feel at home at the regulars' table in the back corner.

If you want to enjoy home-style cooking, you definitely have to stop by (with reservation)! It's not without reason that this store has been around for so long. Delicious food, great service and a rustic atmosphere! We'd love to come back. Thank you

I'm a bit conflicted. On the one hand, the store manages to be very inviting and makes you want to drink a beer there. The friendly staff also contributes positively. On the other hand, the food just really disappointed me. The schnitzel is very carelessly prepared and the color doesn't look very appetizing either. Of course the sambal sauce saved the whole thing, but after all, everything tastes good with sambal sauce. I would come back if you wanted a beer, but I wouldn't eat here again.

Every year for St. Nicholas, we eat kale at Max Walloschke. Tradition, and as always very tasty 😋 😋!!

Good German cuisine with a reasonable price-performance ratio! Without a prior reservation it seems very difficult to eat there. When we made the reservation by phone, we were given a time slot in which it was possible for 90 minutes. It was very crowded there late on a Saturday afternoon. When assigning the table, we were reminded again that the table would be needed again at 6 p.m. This was fine with us as we didn't want to spend a long, leisurely evening but were just hungry. In this respect we were in good hands there. We were able to order the food quickly and it was served quickly. We had the schnitzel with fried egg, the kale plate and the roulaude with red cabbage. As an additional side dish we had a separate bowl of fried potatoes. The food was good and tasty. The fried potatoes in particular were very tasty. The waitress was friendly and ran her place well. Her somewhat casual behavior may irritate some people, but this is more of an expression of her down-to-earth nature. In any case, we felt welcome and in good hands. Unfortunately, the ambience is getting old and in need of renovation. Above all, a colored coat of paint should be done. So it seemed quite uncomfortable. All in all, you're in good hands there if you like German cuisine and want to be full 🙂.

Jägerschnitzel was okay. Heavy deductions because of the ready-made sauce. The rest was good. Roulade was really strong with red cabbage and mashed potatoes.

There were seven of us there, everyone had a different dish, from schnitzel to roulades and kale, everything was great! We'll definitely be back! The woman I spoke to at the door was certain I was wrong (she was right) but she still managed to find a table for 5. A few minutes after being seated, I realized my mistake. We (4 former colleagues) have been meeting at Max Walloschke at irregular intervals (preferably monthly) for years. Everything is actually right here. Nice staff, delicious food, comfortable furnishings and delicious drinks. We always feel very comfortable.

We were here again with friends after a long time and we really enjoyed it again! This restaurant is a must when visiting Hanover. It's as rustic as a pub and you immediately feel in the right mood for schnitzel, pork knuckles and beer. The hospitality is just as nice and quaint as the restaurant and the food is delicious. The house specialty is the giant pork knuckle with mustard and sauerkraut. This is really huge, but the portion is still manageable because of the bones. The knuckle, which can also be ordered, was a little drier but also more seasoned than the pork knuckle. It's also a little smaller, but still a large portion. The sauerkraut is nice and juicy and homemade. Both the knuckle and the knuckle of pork are freshly prepared and therefore take at least half an hour. This must be taken into account. The schnitzels are all good too, only the fried potatoes were unfortunately swimming in oil. The mashed potatoes and stir fry are very tasty and creamy. The currywurst (+homemade sauce) and especially the bread with dried tomatoes that came with it were also excellent. What is special about this restaurant is its history and also the antique freight elevator, which you can hear rattling and see how the dishes are transported from the kitchen in the basement to the dining room upstairs.

It was my first time to eat boiled pig's trotters. I ordered one to share and 2 beers. The restaurant is not big, but it has an atmosphere. The proprietress warmly welcomed me. The pig's trotters are delicious. I recommend it to tourists from Taiwan.
