Max Walloschke in Hannover

A really cool and, above all, the oldest restaurant in Hanover. The food is incredibly tasty and, above all, German cuisine. Everyone likes it. A visit is always recommended. The service is friendly and nice and you don't have to wait long for your food. So go and visit and enjoy it 😉

Enjoy home-style German cuisine at reasonable prices. We repeat it every year, and there are various variations of Eisbein, pork knack, schnitzel, and beer as well as weizen. A variety of potatoes come with the dishes you order, and you can enjoy various potato flavors such as fried, mashed, and mixed with vegetable mash. There aren't that many seats, so reservations are recommended if possible.

It's a shame you can't give it six stars. You deserved it. It was once again a wonderful evening with you and thank you again for fulfilling my special requests for dinner. Since there is already a Chancellor and Andreas Platte in Hanover, we are still looking for a name for my creation. Maybe someone has an idea?

I love Max Waloschke. A quaint old pub. We always meet here with our Doppelkopf group - and then we don't play Doppelkopf, but rather chat, eat and drink. The food is good, home-style, the service is super friendly and the atmosphere is nostalgic. We feel at home at the regulars' table in the back corner.

If you want to enjoy home-style cooking, you definitely have to stop by (with reservation)! It's not without reason that this store has been around for so long. Delicious food, great service and a rustic atmosphere! We'd love to come back. Thank you

I'm a bit conflicted. On the one hand, the store manages to be very inviting and makes you want to drink a beer there. The friendly staff also contributes positively. On the other hand, the food just really disappointed me. The schnitzel is very carelessly prepared and the color doesn't look very appetizing either. Of course the sambal sauce saved the whole thing, but after all, everything tastes good with sambal sauce. I would come back if you wanted a beer, but I wouldn't eat here again.

Every year for St. Nicholas, we eat kale at Max Walloschke. Tradition, and as always very tasty 😋 😋!!

Good German cuisine with a reasonable price-performance ratio! Without a prior reservation it seems very difficult to eat there. When we made the reservation by phone, we were given a time slot in which it was possible for 90 minutes. It was very crowded there late on a Saturday afternoon. When assigning the table, we were reminded again that the table would be needed again at 6 p.m. This was fine with us as we didn't want to spend a long, leisurely evening but were just hungry. In this respect we were in good hands there. We were able to order the food quickly and it was served quickly. We had the schnitzel with fried egg, the kale plate and the roulaude with red cabbage. As an additional side dish we had a separate bowl of fried potatoes. The food was good and tasty. The fried potatoes in particular were very tasty. The waitress was friendly and ran her place well. Her somewhat casual behavior may irritate some people, but this is more of an expression of her down-to-earth nature. In any case, we felt welcome and in good hands. Unfortunately, the ambience is getting old and in need of renovation. Above all, a colored coat of paint should be done. So it seemed quite uncomfortable. All in all, you're in good hands there if you like German cuisine and want to be full 🙂.

Jägerschnitzel was okay. Heavy deductions because of the ready-made sauce. The rest was good. Roulade was really strong with red cabbage and mashed potatoes.

It's really comfortable and the service is also good. But the food? Schnitzels were frozen, fried potatoes from the microwave, but still burnt, the sauce, well. Either right or I leave it. Too bad for the palate

The Max Walloschke is a rustic inn that is both a pub and excellent cuisine in one. German cuisine is cooked like a mother's 😁 the schnitzels are still beaten! The service is great! There were seven of us there, everyone had a different dish, from schnitzel to roulades and kale, everything was great! We'll definitely be back! Tonight I mistakenly went to Max Walloschke, believing it is where I made the reservation for a group. The woman I spoke to at the door was certain I was wrong (she was right) but she still managed to find a table for 5. A few minutes after being seated, I realized my mistake. We (4 former colleagues) have been meeting at Max Walloschke at irregular intervals (preferably monthly) for years. Everything is actually right here. Nice staff, delicious food, comfortable furnishings and delicious drinks. We always feel very comfortable.

Delicious food from home-style cuisine. Small, rustic restaurant that impresses with its cosiness. The staff and landlady are very nice and attentive! We were here again with friends after a long time and we really enjoyed it again! We are already looking forward to the next visit... the table is already reserved, because without a reservation you have little chance of getting a seat.

This restaurant is a must when visiting Hanover. It's as rustic as a pub and you immediately feel in the right mood for schnitzel, pork knuckles and beer. The hospitality is just as nice and quaint as the restaurant and the food is delicious. The house specialty is the giant pork knuckle with mustard and sauerkraut. This is really huge, but the portion is still manageable because of the bones. The knuckle, which can also be ordered, was a little drier but also more seasoned than the pork knuckle. It's also a little smaller, but still a large portion. The sauerkraut is nice and juicy and homemade. Both the knuckle and the knuckle of pork are freshly prepared and therefore take at least half an hour. This must be taken into account. The schnitzels are all good too, only the fried potatoes were unfortunately swimming in oil. The mashed potatoes and stir fry are very tasty and creamy. The currywurst (+homemade sauce) and especially the bread with dried tomatoes that came with it were also excellent. What is special about this restaurant is its history and also the antique freight elevator, which you can hear rattling and see how the dishes are transported from the kitchen in the basement to the dining room upstairs.

It was my first time to eat boiled pig's trotters. I ordered one to share and 2 beers. The restaurant is not big, but it has an atmosphere. The proprietress warmly welcomed me. The pig's trotters are delicious. I recommend it to tourists from Taiwan.

A fantastic place which was great for dinner while away on business. The schnitzel was amazing and had the perfect sauce and would recommend this for everyone in Hannover. While there was a bit of a wait this is worth it for the food really is the best.

This typical German restaurant is not as touristic as the others of its kind in Hannover. The staff is very friendly and they speak English as well. I ordered a roasted pork knuckle which was the best I had in the city. The meat was juicy and cooked to perfection. I also really liked the mustard they serve it with (the waiter told me the name of the brand but I forgot to write it down).

Real home cooking and a rustic atmosphere

We came based on a recommendation and were not disappointed. The food was very tasty. The drinks too. Nobody had anything to complain about. We were also explained how to drink Lüttje Lage.

There were three of us with a small child. The staff was very attentive and friendly, our son was served immediately, there are several children's meals and the child was really looking forward to children's cutlery. We adults were also served quickly, the food is good, home-style and you can tell that the food is cooked on site. Everything tasted really good and we felt comfortable... and everything at fair prices! Excellent!

While passing through and looking for a good German restaurant in Hanover, we ended up here and it was spot on. The food was rustic German and very good, the roulade with beans and definitely apple red cabbage was a hit, the salad was really good. Service was great and attentive and didn't hesitate to say anything. If you're in Hanover, definitely go there! It has been around for 72 years and will continue to exist for a long time. Thank you very much for the good food!

As a native of Hanover, I went to Hanover again after 10 years, so of course I wanted to eat a knuckle of pork at Max Walloschke again. I received a warm welcome, the pork knuckle was great, and the regional schnapps were good for my stomach. 😉 A big compliment goes to the service, thank you again for your hospitality. Searched for local food near my hotel and pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. Love trying out local food and waiter made experience so pleasant. They even gave me an old post card of the place back in the 1950s.

Fantastic bavarian classic food, the taste and quality of the dish we had was great, traditional type German pub, translated menu, the staff spoke reasonable English and were helpful and polite, the only fault I can pick, was it was an exceptionally hot day and no fans or A/C.

We had a dinner in this very typical german restaurant with friends. The restaurant staff is kind and helpful. The atmosphere is pleasant. But what we really love was the food. We ordered schnitzel, roast pork shank and the boiled pork shank. The best i have evert eaten.

Mr. Max Walloschke impressed us with his exquisite, home-style cuisine, the courteous service and the characteristic location. The dishes were consistently delicious and were freshly prepared. In particular, the Herri served on tap proved to be an outstanding delight. The service staff impressed with their extraordinary friendliness and attentiveness. The rustic atmosphere contributed significantly to a comfortable ambience and completed the excellent overall experience. We definitely plan on visiting again and strongly recommend Max Walloschke to anyone who appreciates traditional German cuisine.

Fantastic place with history of Mr Walloschke, especially for me as he was born in Wroclaw - that is my hometown. Spargel served in a perfect way during spargel season, staff super friendly and perfectly understanding the need of guests By heart I recommend the place and surely will be back here in some time

When I came in the door there was suddenly a bear in front of me. I was of course frightened and went out backwards. A minute later I tried it again and then it worked. I wanted to order the bear that I saw at the entrance but it was extremely bad Nice waiter said I have a disability, he was right, so I looked for another restaurant where I wouldn't be unnecessarily insulted.

A very small restaurant in the old tradition... you feel like you've been set back for years. There is still a price list from 1955 hanging in the hallway near the toilets... absolutely fascinating! The food is delicious and the service is very friendly, attentive and quick. Just the volume when the restaurant is full - and it always is! - is really very loud (the only reason why, unfortunately, 1 ☆ less). If you know that, you're happy to accept it - it's just part of it! 🫶 Maybe not exactly recommended for a cozy dinner for two ;) All in all: Absolutely recommended and happy again and again!
