Max & Consorten in Hamburg

Max and his consorts are already on their toes! Traditional and modern dishes on the map! Good drinks selection and a great, suitable ambience. Although very well attended, you try to accommodate other guests and not to send away! Absolutely to be recommended! Iconic, you should definitely have seen it!

Wir (2 Erw. und 1 Kind 11 Jahre) waren hier an unserem ersten Abend in Hamburg beim Essen. Der Laden war zwar gerammelt voll, aber der junge Kellner hat uns nach ein paar Minuten einen Platz bei anderen Gästen am Tisch besorgt. Super nett. Das Essen war nicht schlecht.. Das Ambiente ist sehr laut, da hier viele Menschen zum Essen und Trinken kommen und zum Ratschen. Fühlt sich eher nach einer gemütlichen Kneipe an, als nach einem Restaurant.

Cozy pub atmosphere. They had a lunch menu available, but I opted for the a la carte schnitzel from the main menu. The portion size was generous and the potatoes were simply amazing.

It is very cozy and the food tastes very good. The food the children ordered was very good. Unfortunately, I didn't like my duck leg that much, so I only gave it 4 stars for the food. Staff is very nice and accommodating.

I really enjoyed my stay in this rustic, classic pub with predominantly German home cooking, and so the three of us stayed longer than originally planned. A few minutes from the main train station and easily accessible on foot.

The pub is nice and rustic, just before the charm of the dilapidated place. The service was cool. The food was, unfortunately, subpar. Künkohl with smoked pork and fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were swimming in fat. The kale was an indefinable mass, far from having any structure. The beer is delicious. In short: great for drinking beer, but not for eating.

Good food at reasonable prices, quaint pub with nice staff. We'd be happy to come back next time we visit Hamburg. Steak was very tasty. Baked potatoes are also very good.

Really bad food. Completely and violently oversalted. The chicken breast was at most 4mm thick... I haven't eaten something that bad in a long time. The fried mushrooms that you can order with it were almost certainly from a can and so sparsely available... 80% of the mushrooms were simply onions, which of course were completely over salted^^ a complete disaster. Of course, the fried potatoes weren't crispy either and were drowned in cheap sunflower oil. In general, the entire plate was swimming in fat and it tasted that way... My friend's fried salmon was on top of the fries, so someone must have really thought about it. Real professionals at work, WOW! 😅 You really don't need to eat here. But the Ratsherrn on tap was delicious. At least something 🤣

Old, rustic Hamburger restaurant in St. Georg. You should definitely visit once. Dishes on the daily menu cost 9.50 euros and taste good.

I was there on Saturday with my little sister, before the soccer game. The service is great.:) The food was great. Personally, I particularly liked the fact that there are at least 3 veggie and 3 vegan dishes.:) The toilets are also super clean. Everything was great.:) If I'm in Hamburg again, I'd be happy to come back.:)

Max and Co is a Hamburg original and always worth a visit. A Max Burger to end a tough day was just the thing.

Super nice place, everything tastes good :) was here in Hamburg for the third time and was always happy with the choice. Good portions, nice service and quick to reach. Breakfast until 3 p.m. so super relaxed for all late risers 😊

I've been there three times in quick succession - and this quota says that I definitely recommend the location. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed with the food, but considering the price-performance ratio, it was still above average. What should be highlighted, however, is the always friendly and attentive service. Given the number of visitors that I have experienced the last few times, this is anything but normal. Hats off and thank you very much for that. I will definitely come by more often...

Really nice here! Quaint is probably the right word. VERY nice and fast service. All the guests seemed to be in a good mood, which made the atmosphere even nicer. Hearty food, but also vegetarian options. Generally home cooking. The tomato soup was great and the freshly baked bread was particularly special. And Labskaus too! I'll definitely come back and try something else :-)

Even after leaving the Lange Reihe (a long time ago), Max&Consorten has remained an iconic, pleasant place. Since it's cheap, it's usually very busy, but the staff still tries to find a place.

That was great. The shop itself is great, it used to be a grocery store and is already 250 years old, see photo. There are great exhibits from the store still here in the restaurant, as well as pieces of old facades. The food was great, labskaus, panfish, schnitzel and a goulash soup for our daughter. The drinks were great, I drank Duckstein from the barrel for the first time. The Maxican was nice too (spicy sangrita with vodka and Tabasco, right?). We were full and thank you for a really great lunch offer. Oh yes, I thought my toilet mirror was great.

Excellent pub/ restaurant 5 minutes walk from Hamburg HBF full of locals enjoying good price food and drink. Staff really friendly spoke very good English and a full menu available in English. Really good spot in Hamburg.

The friendliest and nicest waiters in all of Hamburg, simply the best! Here I feel like the most welcome guest and there is always a place for me. Orders are delivered very quickly and the food is always incredibly tasty. My favorite restaurant.

Great pub, nice service, we only had one beer but everything looked delicious. Very nice retro atmosphere. It definitely can't be renovated. We thought it was great because unfortunately places like this are disappearing. You can come in here as you like.

Did we have any bad luck with the service that day? The drink we ordered was forgotten twice but included on the bill. She thought there would be a tip for that...so lost. We didn't eat. But won't be coming back either.

Hamburg pub charm with really great food

One of the few restaurants in the corner of Hamburg where you can have a nice beer as well as some delicious food. Very nice service and always a very nice atmosphere.

Small inconspicuous restaurant/pub in the trendy St. Georg district. Despite the hut being full (inside and outside), the service (3-4) men dealt with the volume very quickly. You wait a maximum of 3-5 minutes for drinks. The food is in a top price-performance ratio. The quality of the food is very good. The portions aren't that big, but they fill you up a lot. And the price is absolutely within normal limits. All in all a nice place to eat and have a drink or two. We would love to come back.

Visited with a German work group, apparently this is a very old historic classic German pub the young girl who was the waitress was very good and charming amd should be acknowledged for her patience and enthusiasm. The food was very German, obviously, but it was quite good. The place was fairly empty, so it was hard to talk about the atmosphere. In the local area, there appears to be lots of drug users and drunks, so be careful when getting there. There are a lot of nice places around the area, and it is located in a lovely square. I had steak with mushrooms amd the mushrooms had no room for improvement as they were very tasty I asked for a well done steak but it was still red inside so maybe ask for a really well done steak if you like it that way.

Gran lugar cerca del paseo marítimo y barcos turísticos. La comida era muy buena y a un precio razonable. Dos de nosotros comimos con vino y cerveza con gratificación por $ 50 US. El schnitzel de cerdo era muy bueno.

Very nice atmosphere and prices are absolutely okay. If it's full you have to wait a bit to order, but the food and drinks come quickly. So for me that's not a problem.

El Max und Consorten se encuentra frente a la iglesia Georg, en el centro de Hamburgo, a poca distancia a pie de la estación principal de tren. El restaurante ofrece cocina alemana sin sentido y es popular entre los lugareños, estudiantes y transeúntes. Puede cenar o tomar una cerveza en el interior o, si el tiempo lo permite, en la plaza - terraza lateral. El servicio es adecuado y amable. En un día soleado de la semana en agosto vinimos a cenar. El restaurante estaba ocupado y la terraza estaba llena, una muy buena señal. Fuimos por Hamburguesa con Papas Fritas y Bratkartoffeln con Huevos Fritos acompañados de un vaso de 500 cc de Weizen. La comida era sabrosa y la cerveza era buena. Cuando te apetezca cenar en un restaurante alemán eficiente, Max & Consorten es una buena opción. Recomendado.

Estaba listo para ordenar. Traté de hacer contacto con el camarero, pero el camarero me pasó una factura. El camarero se sentó a la mesa a mi lado. Bastante justo hasta ahora. Tuvieron problemas con la máquina de tarjetas de crédito. Puede pasarle a cualquiera. Dos veces traté de hacer contacto con otro miembro del personal, pero eso resultó en nada. No es bueno. El camarero terminó en la otra mesa y fue al revés y se ocupó de varios otros huéspedes, a pesar de que yo fui el primero en hacer contacto. El camarero no volvió. Muy mal. Después de + 10 minutos de espera tuve que comprobar a mis hijos en el parque infantil cercano. Estuve fuera por un minuto, pero todavía no había camarero a la vista. Por lo tanto, entré - bastante estresado - porque solo necesitábamos un almuerzo rápido antes de nuestro tren. Y hasta ahora había tomado + 11 minutos... no conseguir nada. En el interior hice una pregunta sencilla -¿cuánto tiempo se tarda en hacer una hamburguesa con queso con patatas fritas?-, pero se negaron a responder. Muy, muy mal. Pregunté más de una vez, pero no pude obtener una respuesta como de 10 a 15 minutos, de 20 a 25 minutos más o menos... simplemente no respondí y luego comenzaron a discutir... lo que me llevó más tiempo. ¡Terrible! Vengo a la estación de tren de Hamburgo cada 3 meses con grupos de 25 - 40 personas... y estaba buscando un buen restaurante para mis grupos. Si tarda tanto en no conseguir nada para mi pequeña familia - ni siquiera una respuesta - no me atrevo a ir allí con un grupo.

bastante bien. Está a cinco minutos del hauptbahof y lejos de las multitudes enloquecedoras, si le gusta tener un almuerzo más tranquilo y una cerveza. Con estilo no lo es, está bien. Estaba tranquilo cuando lo visité, otro cliente en el interior pero más ocupado al aire libre. El servicio fue bastante bueno el día - es poco probable que te reciban como una celebridad, gracias a Dios, pero tuve una conversación agradable con el servidor. Costillas - abundante y sabroso, cocinado correctamente, con patatas fritas y un poco de ensalada. Hizo el trabajo, era a un precio razonable y bastante sabroso. No se esfuerzan demasiado por complacer. No es un lugar elegante, y sin embargo es un lugar lo suficientemente agradable.

A German café as a German café should be. Had drinks and dinner twice with a group of friends. The Weizen beer flowed freely, the goulash soup, asparagus and Schnitzel were very tasty and the service was absolutely great. Highly recommended, also because of the very friendly prices! Price-quality: more than excellent.

Meat was a bit dry, sauce was good, vegetables were fried deliciously. Fried potatoes are delicious. I would go back here and try something different, as they have a changing weekly menu. Staff was very friendly.

It's my first time here and I'm already impressed by the friendliness. The prices are not excessive. I treated myself to a councilor and a Max Bürger, which is/was very tasty and, above all, big!😂 The store is really recommended.

Update 04/03/24 Unfortunately, after the death of the owner and kind soul Max, everything gradually deteriorated. It is cheap but also accordingly. Not exactly tasty for my taste. The service is usually quick but also apathetic. In the area I prefer Frau Möller, Bodega Nagel, Paulaners or a delicious cocktail at the European Court. Have fun in Hamburg

It's a shame that I have to write this review. The breakfast menu has been changed since yesterday, March 23rd, 2024. Instead of salami, there is now avocado, instead of cooked ham there is now beetroot. If Max & Consort wants to adapt to the ski jumping madness, then 10 years are too late. A piece of tradition has been removed from the menu. I'm well aware that rolls won't make you rich, but if I want an avocado, then I definitely won't go to Max & Consort... It's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame...

Today the menu and especially the breakfast menu was changed. It's just sad that the best breakfast in St. Georg has been changed. It all just reads like avocado. Classic rolls = none. Please undo this. We live here, are regular guests and good things cannot be changed. What should I order? We don't need special hipster menus. Woe betide you if you change the recipe from the Mexican!!!!

Went here last night and so glad we did, great food, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. We both had schnitzel with fries and apple strudel to share both tasted amazing. Would recommend.
