Max & Consorten in Hamburg

Great spot near the waterfront and tour boats. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Two of us had meals with wine and beer with gratuity for $50 US. Pork schnitzel was very good.

We had a delicious dinner here. It was almost all correct. I just thought it was a bit too oily, but it tasted excellent and not like a fried schitzel.

Max und Consorten is located opposite St Georg Church in the centre of Hamburg and at a short walking distance of the main railway station. The restaurant offers no-nonsense German cuisine and is popular with locals, students and bypassers. You can dine or have a beer inside or, weather permitted, at the square-side terrace. Service is adequate and friendly. On a sunny weekday in August we came for dinner. The restaurant was busy and the terrace was full, a very good sign. We went for Burger with Fries and Bratkartoffeln with Fried Eggs accompanied by a 500cc glas of Weizen. The food was tasty and the beer was good. When you fancy dining in an efficient German restaurant, Max & Consorten is a good choice. Recommended.

I was ready to order. I tried to make contact with the waiter - but the waiter went past me with a bill. The waiter went to the table next to me. Fair enough so far. Their they had problem with the credit card machine. Can happen to anyone. Two times I tried to make contact with another staff-member - but that resultet in nothing. Not good. The waiter then finished at the other table and went the other way around and took care of several other guests - eventhough I was the first to make contact. The waiter didn't come back. Very bad. After +10 minutes of waiting I had to check on my kids on the nearby playground. I was away for one minut, but still no waiter in sight. I therefor went in - pretty stressed - because we just needed a quick lunch before our train. And so far it had taken +11 minutes... to get nothing. Inside I therefor asked - how long does it take to make a cheeseburger with fries? - a simple question, but they refused to answer. Very, very bad. I asked more than once, but couldn't get an answer like 10-15 minuts, 20-25 minuts or so... just no answer and then they started arguing... which just took more of my time. Terrible! I come to Hamburg trainstation every 3 months with groups of 25-40 people... and was looking for a good restaurant for my groups. If it takes so long to not get anything for my small family - not even an answer -I don't dare to go there with a group.

the interior was decorated really nicely, like a pub with imprints from all over the world food was good! and omg we couldn’t finish we were so full haha heard of this place from Google reviews, and now am adding onto the list so more will discover this place :)

pretty good. Its five minutes from the hauptbahof and away from the madding crowds, if you like to have a quieter lunch and a beer. Stylish it isn't - that's fine. It sure was quiet when I visited, one other patron indoors but busier al fresco. Service was pretty good on the day - they're unlikely to welcome you like a celebrity, thank heavens, but I had a pleasant conversation with the server. Ribs - plentiful and tasty, properly cooked, with chips and some salad. It did the job, was reasonably priced and pretty tasty. They're not trying too hard to please. It's not a stylish place, and yet its a pleasant enough spot.

A German café as a German café should be. Had drinks and dinner twice with a group of friends. The Weizen beer flowed freely, the goulash soup, asparagus and Schnitzel were very tasty and the service was absolutely great. Highly recommended, also because of the very friendly prices! Price-quality: more than excellent.

It's my first time here and I'm already impressed by the friendliness. The prices are not excessive. I treated myself to a councilor and a Max Bürger, which is/was very tasty and, above all, big!😂 The store is really recommended.

Very rustic place to enjoy German home cooking. The portion is okay, you'll definitely be full. Tried the schnitzel with vegetables and pepper cream sauce here. Meat was a bit dry, sauce was good, vegetables were fried deliciously. Fried potatoes are delicious. I would go back here and try something different, as they have a changing weekly menu. Staff was very friendly.

Update 04/03/24 Unfortunately, after the death of the owner and kind soul Max, everything gradually deteriorated. It is cheap but also accordingly. Not exactly tasty for my taste. The service is usually quick but also apathetic. In the area I prefer Frau Möller, Bodega Nagel, Paulaners or a delicious cocktail at the European Court. Have fun in Hamburg

It's a shame that I have to write this review. The breakfast menu has been changed since yesterday, March 23rd, 2024. Instead of salami, there is now avocado, instead of cooked ham there is now beetroot. If Max & Consort wants to adapt to the ski jumping madness, then 10 years are too late. A piece of tradition has been removed from the menu. I'm well aware that rolls won't make you rich, but if I want an avocado, then I definitely won't go to Max & Consort... It's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame...

Today the menu and especially the breakfast menu was changed. It's just sad that the best breakfast in St. Georg has been changed. It all just reads like avocado. Classic rolls = none. Please undo this. We live here, are regular guests and good things cannot be changed. What should I order? We don't need special hipster menus. Woe betide you if you change the recipe from the Mexican!!!!

De var inte bara uppmärksamma och tillmötesgående utan också oerhört kunniga om sitt utbud av tyska ölsorter. Vår upplevelse av Max und Consorten exceptionell tack vare det fantastiska utbudet av tyskt öl och den överlägsna servicen. Varje öl var en upplevelse i sig, perfekt serverad och presenterad. Det var tydligt att de lägger stor vikt vid kvalitet och autenticitet. Den totala upplevelsen på Max und Consorten var av mycket hög nivå. Atmosfären, tillsammans med personalens expertis gjorde vårt besök minnesvärt. Jag rekommenderar varmt Max und Consorten till alla som uppskattar fina tyska öl och en genuint trevlig stämning. Very rustic restaurant that you can't really see from the outside. It has delicious food with a huge selection. A very nice team! We were thrilled and will be back.

Was there for a currywurst fries. This had snack quality - the sausage was ok, but completely fried. The fries were also ok, but absorbed the smell of the other foods being cooked in the same fryer. The service was very quick and nice. Overall, a quaint, full shop.

Wir waren zu Viert mal wieder bei Max & Consorten. Manchmal muss ich länger beschreiben, wie das Lokal denn so ist. Hier kann ich es abkürzen. Es ist einfach super. So eine tolle Atmosphäre, eine großartige Besatzung und gutes Essen dazu. Wir reservieren immer vorsichtshalber. Ich freue mich schon auf das nächste Mal!

The place had a nice feel, and my friend and I had a good time. The service was really good, and the drinks and food at the bar were tasty. We tried fish with various sides, and everything tasted good. The red wine was also enjoyable.

Super Kultecke mit freundlichen Personal und annehmbaren Preisen.

Hemos ido a cenar y la experiencia ha sido genial. Muy bien de precio en comparación con el resto. Comida muy rica y carta variada de comida alemana, salchichas, sopas, ensaladas, hamburguesas, platos tradicionales… cervezas a precios medios y personal muy amable, ¿qué más se puede pedir? Eso si, había mucha gente, sobretodo locales.

Etwas versteckt gelegenes Restaurant mit Pub Charakter. Urige Innenausstattung. Gute Getränkeauswahl, es gibt Guinness vom Fass. Die Gulaschsuppe war lecker. Preis/Leistung ist top. Personal ist auf Zack und sehr freundlich.

Seit 40 Jahren Mittagstisch von 11 bis 14 Uhr, auch für Treffen mit Freunden und Arbeitskollegen, eine Institution in Hamburg St. Georg, bei guten Bier und Glas Wein. Max und Consorten.

Was immer auch MAX & CONSORTEN ist . . . Begriffe wie Kneipe, Lokal oder Restaurant treffen diese stets gefüllte Eckterrasse nicht so wirklich, da wäre "ABSOLUTER KULT-TREFF VON ST. GEORG!!" schon der weitaus treffendere Titelzusatz!! ;-)) Egal, zu welcher Jahreszeit man St. Georg auch besucht, das "M&C" ist ein echtes Muss, wenn man entweder das edle Hotel-Atlantic-Areal, die Mö oder die mega-lebhafte Lange Reihe verlassen hat und noch ein "klasse Gucker-Plätzchen" zum Essen und Trinken sucht (das Verhältnis Preis/Leistung/Qualität/Service ist im ganzen Viertel so gut wie nicht zu toppen), bevor man sich auf den Heim- bzw. Hotelweg macht. Wir waren bisher vier Mal in dieser faszinierenden Stadt und genauso oft im "MAX" . . . und jedes Mal blieben wir deutlich länger als geplant, weil alles so super lässig, so super stimmig und soo super lecker ist! Und da es 2024 nach "Besuch Nr. 5" aussieht, wird's wohl unvermeidlich sein, bei Max entweder lecker Schnitzel, lecker Bratfisch oder 'ne herrliche Currywurst zu essen! Bitte so weitermachen MAX & CONSORTEN - wir freuen uns jetzt schon wieder auf euch!!

Absoluter Geheimtipp! Unscheinbar, nicht sonderlich modern oder abgehoben, aber Hammer Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Das Schnitzel mit den Champignons und Zwiebeln mit gebratenem Gemüse ist ein Traum. Der Burger ebenso sehr gut, wenn auch nicht so Hausgemacht wie das Schnitzel. Sonderwünsche sind kein Problem und die Bedienung geht zügig. Ich kanns nur empfehlen 😊👌🏻

Sehr nettes Lokal was zu empfehlen ist. Das Ambiente ist sehr gemütlich. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und die Preise moderat. Man muss ggf Glück mit einem Platz haben aber es lohnt sich. Preis Leistung stimmt auf jeden Fall
