Mawlana Street Food in München

One of the best Afghan places we’ve ever had. They keep the hot tandoor naan coming. Very attentive and nice staff. They speak Urdu, Pashto, German and English. Highly recommend the Qabuli pulao, their potato stew, and tea! Only thing this place needs is more space and some desserts.

I was at the Maulana restaurant in Munich with my four-year-old son. I ordered a Chapli Kebab and a Cola Zero, plus an extra portion of rice for my son. Unfortunately, the Chapli Kebab didn't meet my expectations at all - it was completely devoid of spices. It was particularly disappointing that my child was charged a whopping €10 for the small portion of rice. I find that pretty outrageous. In addition, the staff behind the counter was loudly talking on the phone the whole time instead of taking care of the guests. For me it was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime visit I won't come back

Authentic Afghani cuisine in Munich. Very tasty food and very cozy interior, excellent service. It’s Halal as well.

Service is very bad. The man who served us was rude and rude. When you asked for a bill, water or menu, the waiter ignored you or was talking to his buddies and pretended not to hear you even though you were almost screaming. Somehow didn't feel welcome in this cafe. Or because we are not Afghan? :( Thought the waiter had a bad day, but we were there 3 times and each time it was the same, apparently the waiter picked the wrong job. I took a friend of mine with me, in the end I was very embarrassed about the service, and then we were pissed and the food didn't taste good anymore. It was just a shame. Food isn't cheap either. There are dozens of cafes in Munich with better street food and service. Never again to Mawlana Street Food👎.

Stumbled across the store by chance. We ordered a minced skewer with rice. It tasted very good. The portion size is generous. You can also share the plate between two people. The restaurant is nicely decorated, there is music playing in the background and the restaurant is frequented by authentic guests. The only thing that was strange was that there were no women there to eat and only men were there. What is particularly positive is that the naan is freshly baked in-house and a lot of effort goes into displaying it.

Tried Qabuli Pulao, Chapli kebab and it was tasty. Service is good. It's a small setup but overall food is tasty. I wish if they can start afghan karhi as well. They have bring traditional dish Chapli kebab. Something new in Munich and not seen in any other restaurant. Overall good experience and recommended.

First of all, the place is very small. Portion is small and expensive. When it first arrived, I thought there was very good meat, but I saw that there was only a little meat wrapped around a huge bone. Döner is 6 euros but there is more meat in the doner. I paid 20.40 for coke and qabuli, I think it was too much. Pilaf was successful. I will never go again. Since the place is small, the waiter looks me in the eye before I even finish the meal, he quickly collected the plate before the coke was finished and left, what I hated the most. Payment at checkout was easy The plates were old. The cutlery was standing on the table, it does not come with the service.

Completely different than the picture and there are no vegetables

Finding this place was like meeting a food angel. We ordered two vegetarian dishes and lamb liver and everything was gone in a flash. Reasonable price and portions and the taste was magnificent and the food was fresh abd healthy. 100% would recommend, will visit again!

Everything was almost good, but the service was not good, the waiter was not welcoming at all and did not answer. For us, the meal was with tea. Our food was finished, and now we didn't have any tea. We asked for tea again for three people, and then we paid tea money for six people in arrears. paid but unfortunately we found out too late and personally I do not recommend this place at all..

You can’t just order the skewers and eat them, then eat them and eat them.

The overall experience in this place was excellent. Foodwise, it was so tasty and everything was freshly made. The bread was baked from the stone oven. Taste of the grill meat I cant forget and I can say mouth watering indeed. Service was great . The crew are competent and attentive. I would definitely come back for more hunger.

Crazy, I haven't eaten something so delicious in a very long time. The prices are very cheap compared to other restaurants. I will come here to eat several times in the future. I had the No.15 and I have to say it was better than expected and hot and tasty and beautifully presented. Nothing was missing!!! :) Thanks !

Arrived from a 5 hour train ride from Prague and was really hungry. My husband recommended we try this place and yes I would recommend it! The food was great (if you don’t eat much, consider sharing a meal). I originally only wanted a salad to go with my meal instead of rice and the owner saw or heard what I wanted and gave me extra salad on the side. I highly recommend you to try them!

I recently visited Afghanistan Restaurant (formerly known as Mawlana) and was left disappointed by several issues that potential customers should be aware of before dining here. First, the restaurant appears to have undergone a name change from Mawlana to Afghanistan Restaurant, which isn't necessarily an issue, but what follows certainly is. The most concerning aspect of our experience was the significant discrepancy between what's advertised in their menu and what's actually served. We ordered their kebab dish, which clearly shows two kebabs in the menu picture, but received only one on our plate. When questioned about this, the staff simply stated that the picture on the counter display was "real" - a puzzling response that fails to address why their menu contains misleading images. The portion sizes in general were notably smaller than what's depicted in their menu photos. This kind of presentation feels deliberately misleading, as customers naturally base their ordering decisions on these menu images. Adding to our frustration, we were charged extra for bread, which should be a standard complementary item in this type of restaurant. For comparison, Sarah Restaurant, located just around the corner, offers much better value for money. With similar pricing, they provide larger portion sizes and include bread free of charge - as it should be. This stark contrast in value and transparency makes it difficult to justify returning to Afghanistan Restaurant.

We went to Restaurant Molana in Munich this evening, an Afghan restaurant, and it was really a great experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We were particularly impressed by the quality of the food. Each dish was prepared with care and love, and the flavors were simply outstanding. From the starters to the main courses – everything tasted excellent. If you are looking for authentic, tasty Afghan food, I can only recommend Restaurant Molana. If you are in Munich, you should definitely plan a visit there!

2nd time eating Afghanistan food, and was very solid dishes. I ate the Kabubi Gami, which was meat, flavored basmati rice, potatoes, and side salad, plus a spicy salsa. The manager was very helpful. When I visit Munich again, I'll happily dine there again.

It was my first time trying this restaurant. I truly appreciate the friendly nature of the staff, and the teka kabab was exceptional. I will definitely try it again when I visit Germany.

a small restaurant and very nice staff, great food and the meat is also very good! Bread is homemade and preparation is quick and uncomplicated. Highly recommended if you want a good Afghan meal. The only point of criticism would be that it's not really street food, but a normal restaurant.

i wont recommend it at all, we were two friends yesterday there, ordered Quai Palau for 17,50Euros, Tekka for 19,00 two glasses of doogh and paid 44 euros at the end. Food was very tasty but We got severe stomach issues, both of us. So the food is not hygienic at all. Please stay away from them.

Absolutely fantastic when it came to Afghan-Persian cuisine. They nailed the recipes, fresh and huge portion size for the prices in Munich! Would love to visit them again, and recommended for anyone close by the Munich HBF.

My goodness, what a beautiful experience. The food was great, the service was great and you sat in a cozy atmosphere, listening to good conversations every now and then. The waitress was kind enough to explain the intricacies of the food to our children (they will certainly mention it at school) and we left full and with great memories.

This place is incredible. The host, Samir, was very welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. He helped me choose a meal and checked in plenty of times to ensure I was enjoying myself. The food itself was not too spicy but with an option to add if I wanted and the atmosphere was great, everyone is super friendly and happy to chat whilst I was catching some air to stop myself from exploding from eating so much. 10/10 would definitely go back again!

It is a very nice place. The food was top! I eat in a lot of other places like this, but nothing comes close in terms of value for your money. I guess that's because they are newly opened. I hope they will keep the service and food quality at a high level.

We had a great time in this restaurant! The place is very clean and the atmosphere pleasant. We ordered the Qabuli Palaw with Chapli Kabeb, and the dishes were simply delicious. In addition, the prices are very affordable. At the end of the meal, we were surprised to receive a free Afghan tea accompanied by Baghlawa, a truly appreciated gesture. THE OWNER ALSO HAD THE MERCY TO DEMAND ALMOST 12 EUROS MORE THAN IT COST IN THE END. WHEN WE CONSUMED HIM ABOUT IT, THE OWNER TOLD HE HAD TYPES ON THE WRONG TABLE, WHICH WAS OBVIOUSLY A LIE.

I’ve visited many times. I mainly come for the Chapli kebabs and they’re excellent. The best in Munich yet. Service is usually fast and really friendly. The seating area is really small so not a lot of people can be accommodated other than that the taste of everything is very authentic and delicious.

The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, way above average. The people who work there are warm and kind. I was having a horrible day full of mishaps but stumbling upon this place really cheered me up!!

So far I've had a good experience and have ordered there two to three times a month. But the waiter on April 18th. The person who served there in the morning is absolutely disrespectful and doesn't know how to deal with customers. Never again.

The food was not so pricey but the chicken kebabs didn’t feel like chicken. Normally in other turkish or afghan restaurants, tea is complimentary but here it was charged. Nevertheless , the service was friendly and even payment by card is acceptable.

Great food and friendly, courteous service. I've rarely had such good mantu. The only point of criticism is the front seating area. It's extremely drafty there and every time the door opens it immediately becomes uncomfortable.

Nice restaurant for Afghani food. I was craving for some chicken kebabs and I found the right place. The man serving food was very polite and humble. Service was quick and we didn't had to wait long for our dish. One kebab plate is enough for 2 people. Our bill was €14.
