Massi Bar & Restaurant - Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf

We visited Massi in Düsseldorf a few months ago and had a really nice visit. The staff was super friendly and took very good care of us. We really enjoyed the food – fresh and delicious. You can tell that a lot of emphasis is placed on good quality here. Overall, a really great restaurant with a feel-good atmosphere that we would happily return to.

The place seems quite unassuming, but it has a lot to offer. The food was very delicious—starters, main courses, and desserts. We were extremely pleasantly surprised. Overall, the ambiance and service could be improved with a few adjustments. The small (cheap-looking) napkins, in particular, are not appropriate for the good food. Salt and pepper shakers were also missing from the tables—but this wasn't relevant, as the dishes were perfectly seasoned.

The food was burnt, and our complaint was ignored and not taken seriously. Apart from that, the waitress was very unfriendly, serving us with headphones on while talking on the phone. It was truly borderline.

We had a lovely evening with amazing dishes, we ordered the Antipasti entree, the Schnitzel, octopus, thuna fish and Carbonara Spaghetti and Salmon dish. Everything was delicious and the wine menu is amazing!

The fusion dishes here are really innovative. Some of the ingredients I thought were the same as those of Western cuisine turned out to be different. They were surprisingly delicious. My friend and I spent a long time guessing what ingredients were used. The waiter was also very nice and kept asking me if everything was ok. It was a very pleasant experience to sit by the window on a rainy Saturday night, looking at the Pempelfort neighborhood and eating and drinking with friends. The boss was also very enthusiastic and asked me if I was from China and if I was used to the food. He asked me to write a review in Chinese if I liked it. I think I have a high degree of favorability towards this restaurant and would recommend it to friends who like to have a drink.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Düsseldorf! The creative cuisine never ceases to amaze me. Every dish is not only delicious but also a visual experience. The pleasant atmosphere invites you to linger, and the friendly staff provides excellent service.

We went in without any introductions and left with great enthusiasm. What a lovely and enjoyable evening at Massi. We started by ordering a vegetarian appetizer platter for two. Everyone, everything was super tasty and of high quality. The vine leaves were a delight. Definitely worth ordering. For our main course, we had tarte flambée with burrata and guinea fowl on truffled purée in a red wine sauce. It was absolutely amazing. Accompanied by a superbly mixed Pampelle Spritz and Campari Orange. The atmosphere was simply lovely, and the service was very friendly and accommodating. The quality of the food was excellent. It was good value for money, and the ambiance is inviting. Many thanks to the kitchen and the friendly waitress duo. I'll be back!

Update 2025: Visited the Massi Bar again, but was a bit disappointed this time. Unfortunately there is no champagne on the menu and there is no alternative on offer. Service overall not particularly customer oriented. Food beautifully prepared and tasted good. In one of our dishes, with Black Tiger prawns marked on the menu, they were very small and not Black Tiger. When approached, they just said that it had been offered that way for years. 2023: Nice ambience, you can sit outside. Good selection of food and drinks. Service good, food top, good quality, finely prepared and the spices used well and balanced. The pulp could have been a little more tender, the tartare was hand-cut, and the chocolate cake had, as hoped, its liquid core.

The restaurant was very nicely decorated, the eye is definitely eating in this restaurant. The truffle ravioli and truffle pasta were also very tasty, considering the price-performance ratio I have nothing to complain about as, in my opinion, the portions were huge.

The food was really delicious, everything was fresh and made with love. I'd love to come back!

Als Vorspeise hatten wir die Persische Vorspeise, gegrillte Baby Calamari und die Artischockenherzen aus dem Ofen. Alles super lecker und nur weiterzuempfehlen. Also Hauptgericht hatten ich das Perlhuhnbrust und es war einfach nur mega lecker. Dieses Gericht würde ich immer wieder nehmen, auch wenn ich am Anfang nicht sicher war ob die die Kombination mag. Meine Eltern hatten das Wiener Schnitzel und das Schnitzel war auch super zart und lecker, die Pommes waren nichts aussergewöhnliches. Allem in allem würde ich hier immer wieder hingehen, weil die Qualität sehr gut ist. Es ist aber eher ein höherpreisigen Restaurant.

Erstmalig besucht - auch aufgrund der Fotos und einiger Bewertungen. Unserer Erfahrung nach ist das Massi überbewertet. Das Lokal rappevoll (was für den Inhaber ja schön ist) und sehr, sehr laut. Dementsprechend überfordert war das zweiköpfige Serviceteam - leider. Zum Essen: Pasta und Pinsa - egal ob hausgemacht oder nicht - waren in der Zubereitung deutlich zu mächtig. Der Trüffel nur mit der Lupe zu erkennen. Da braucht die Küche ein feineres Händchen und ein besseres Gespür. Zum bequemen Verzehr der Weinbergschnecken fehlte das dafür übliche Besteck - gastronomisch unmöglich! Auch hier sollte die Küche erst einmal selbst testen, was sie den Gästen offeriert. Entspannte Unterhaltung am Tisch aufgrund der Lautstärke Fehlanzeige. Fazit: Massi muss nicht sein!

Incredibly passionate team. The food is fantastic, a chef who knows his craft or rather a work of art. A service that is professional without seeming fake. Well-tasting drinks and a feel-good atmosphere. And prices that are unbeatable for this quality! The only thing I could criticize would be that it was a bit loud when it was full, but that was absolutely bearable in this otherwise perfect overall package. We happened to like this restaurant and it couldn't have been a better choice. Thank you for this experience!!!

We were there for the first time with 4 people; It was recommended to us by friends. It was worth it; we were very happy with everything. Friendly staff, unusual, very tasty dishes in a nice atmosphere.

The food was good. Unfortunately the service was very unfriendly. When we arrived we were informed that we could use the table we had reserved for 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., after which other guests would arrive. That wasn't a problem for us. At 8:50 p.m. the service came to our table for the first time and announced that the other guests were already there. We said we would be ready soon (there were still drinks on the table). Service came for the second time just 2 minutes later. We had to leave now, the other guests were already there and in a very unfriendly tone. We have never been kicked out of a restaurant. This time it was like that and before the announced time. Unfortunately a no go, although the food was great.

First of all, the food tasted good and was beautifully prepared. The service in the restaurant was also good. Now for the negative. The price-performance ratio is not right here. As a main course I ordered the "Surf & Turf" (½ lobster | Argentine entrecôte | Black Tiger Gambas) for €59.90. When ordering I was told the lobster was out and I could choose if I wanted octopus or more shrimp instead. I chose the shrimp. What was on the plate afterwards were 4(!) shrimps and about 100 grams of meat. The definition of "more" shrimp in this case wasn't clear to me. How many would there have been before? Two, one? It's completely unclear to me how that amount of shrimp can even begin to compensate for half a lobster. The steak was also ridiculously small. The taste wasn't good enough to compensate for the quantity or justify the price. All in all, despite the starter, main course and dessert, I didn't go home full at the end, but I paid €200 (2 people) for it. Overall, I would not visit the restaurant again for the reasons mentioned.

We were there together from work for Christmas dinner. Three tables were prepared for us so that everyone could sit comfortably together. In general, the atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and not too loud, so you can have a good conversation. The menu is diverse and contains many different dishes, but is still not too overwhelming. I was thrilled with all three of my options, many of my colleagues chose the truffle pasta with beef and were also extremely satisfied. A clear recommendation for a stylish evening. Bonus because there is also freshly tapped Alt here.

We were there last week for a birthday dinner and the food and service were great. As a gift from the house there was even a small dessert with a candle.

We have been there 3 times now. Food is always excellent or at least good. Nicely prepared. Complaining at a high level: the noodles could have used a little more salt each time. Nice attentive service. Gladly again.

The food was excellent. The octopus in particular was perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, not every dish on the menu was available at 7 p.m. - we would have liked to try the salmon trout. The ambience was great, even though the tables in the restaurant are very close to each other and you can follow the conversations at the neighboring tables in detail. The price level is rather high. In the end we paid 60 EUR per person for a starter and a main course with two drinks each.

Very exciting pricing policy. The drinks aperitif menu showed cheaper prices (8.50 for our two gin and tonics were advertised) than we paid (11.90 for each gin and tonic). Unfortunately, we only noticed this afterwards. When we asked in the restaurant, the prices were suddenly pasted over and sent to us. Claim: we had a mistake. Food was very good, but that doesn't make this behavior go away. The first and last time. No recommendation for such stitches.

The dishes are delicious and lovingly prepared. The restaurant is cozy, modern and stylish. Perfect for a special evening. Unfortunately, the service falls well short of expectations given the high price level.

Absolutely nothing can be said against the food. Unfortunately the service really wasn't good. We reserve a table for a larger number of people a week in advance and receive a confirmation. On the corresponding evening, our group was divided between two tables in the restaurant. If I don't have the required space in the restaurant, I will let you know in advance and cancel. After 40 minutes we were served upon request. Too bad

To bridge the waiting time, we were given "3" small olives with oil/Modena cream and 2 small slices of bread (the size of baguette slices) per person. Oh well. The food was delicious and very imaginatively prepared, but we would have left hungry if we hadn't had a starter. The gratinated goat cheese saved the evening, so to speak, and is highly recommended. But the prices are quite high.

By far the best food I've ever eaten! From the first bite to the last, every dish was an absolute delight. The creative compositions, the excellent ingredients and the artistic presentation completely convinced me. The service was attentive and professional, the atmosphere elegant yet cozy. An unforgettable culinary experience that I can highly recommend to everyone. Five stars are actually not enough!

Overall very disappointing experience. It's way too overpriced for the quantity and taste. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is absolutely not right here. In terms of taste it was below average for our palate a 2/5 and with the prices on top it was actually almost a 1/5. We ordered: - Spaghetti Bolognese 3/10: very standard. You can do it at home too - Vegetarian starter platter 7/10: was ok, not much. Eggplant in cream cheese was delicious. - Schnitzel: 4/10 very standard, there are much better alternatives like Münstermann and almost outrageous for the price - Truffle ravioli: 5/10 price and embarrassed by the quantity. Taste ok. Sounds much better than it tastes - Pinsa 4/10: very standard, there are significantly better ones - Lobster soup: only cream, the taste here is also too standard / boring

We actually wanted to go to a neighboring restaurant, but we didn't like it visually. So (luckily) we ended up stranded here completely by chance. The welcome was incredibly friendly and genuine, not at all arrogant, as is often the case in Düsseldorf. The food was really perfect, starter, intermediate course, main course, everything was wonderful and with a slightly Persian flavor. But only a slight influence, which we liked because you can order from an extensive wine list and everything is quite Mediterranean, but with that special touch. Fantastic pasta! Ravioli filled with lobster, sensational! When I said in passing that it was my wife's birthday while paying, they even brought us a dessert on the house. Here you can feel in every little fiber that the boss is on site and works with his heart and soul together with his people. The best restaurant stay for us in a long time! Food was very good, service was very courteous and attentive! We had a nice time outside in the summer, right on the street, but it wasn't too loud! So everything was great and really recommended!

I went to the restaurant for dinner. I ordered their Spätzle with truffle sauce. It was amazing. They also have wide arrays of superb wine in their collection. I want to try other dishes when I'll come back next.

Excellent food Friendly service

Not cheap, but worth it! The lobster stuffed ravioli with lobster saffron sauce is excellent and I will have it again next time. This time we skipped the starter and instead chose desserts, which were also convincing. It's very nice to sit outside, because of the plants it's like in a little garden.

You probably always get the bread when you order food. I had the vegetarian antipasti platter which was very tasty. The grape leaves are stuffed with rice. The cool drinks are not alcohol-free but only a non-alcoholic Hugo or homemade lemonade. But I haven't tried it. The bread was definitely homemade with a bit of zucchini (?) in it, super tasty! The restaurant is decorated very chic inside. Despite the street, you can sit comfortably outside between flowers and olive trees
