Massi Bar & Restaurant - Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf

First of all, the food tasted good and was beautifully prepared. The service in the restaurant was also good. Now for the negative. The price-performance ratio is not right here. As a main course I ordered the "Surf & Turf" (½ lobster | Argentine entrecôte | Black Tiger Gambas) for €59.90. When ordering I was told the lobster was out and I could choose if I wanted octopus or more shrimp instead. I chose the shrimp. What was on the plate afterwards were 4(!) shrimps and about 100 grams of meat. The definition of "more" shrimp in this case wasn't clear to me. How many would there have been before? Two, one? It's completely unclear to me how that amount of shrimp can even begin to compensate for half a lobster. The steak was also ridiculously small. The taste wasn't good enough to compensate for the quantity or justify the price. All in all, despite the starter, main course and dessert, I didn't go home full at the end, but I paid €200 (2 people) for it. Overall, I would not visit the restaurant again for the reasons mentioned.

We were there together from work for Christmas dinner. Three tables were prepared for us so that everyone could sit comfortably together. In general, the atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and not too loud, so you can have a good conversation. The menu is diverse and contains many different dishes, but is still not too overwhelming. I was thrilled with all three of my options, many of my colleagues chose the truffle pasta with beef and were also extremely satisfied. A clear recommendation for a stylish evening. Bonus because there is also freshly tapped Alt here.

We were there last week for a birthday dinner and the food and service were great. As a gift from the house there was even a small dessert with a candle.

We have been there 3 times now. Food is always excellent or at least good. Nicely prepared. Complaining at a high level: the noodles could have used a little more salt each time. Nice attentive service. Gladly again.

The food was excellent. The octopus in particular was perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, not every dish on the menu was available at 7 p.m. - we would have liked to try the salmon trout. The ambience was great, even though the tables in the restaurant are very close to each other and you can follow the conversations at the neighboring tables in detail. The price level is rather high. In the end we paid 60 EUR per person for a starter and a main course with two drinks each.

Very exciting pricing policy. The drinks aperitif menu showed cheaper prices (8.50 for our two gin and tonics were advertised) than we paid (11.90 for each gin and tonic). Unfortunately, we only noticed this afterwards. When we asked in the restaurant, the prices were suddenly pasted over and sent to us. Claim: we had a mistake. Food was very good, but that doesn't make this behavior go away. The first and last time. No recommendation for such stitches.

Absolutely nothing can be said against the food. Unfortunately the service really wasn't good. We reserve a table for a larger number of people a week in advance and receive a confirmation. On the corresponding evening, our group was divided between two tables in the restaurant. If I don't have the required space in the restaurant, I will let you know in advance and cancel. After 40 minutes we were served upon request. Too bad

To bridge the waiting time, we were given "3" small olives with oil/Modena cream and 2 small slices of bread (the size of baguette slices) per person. Oh well. The food was delicious and very imaginatively prepared, but we would have left hungry if we hadn't had a starter. The gratinated goat cheese saved the evening, so to speak, and is highly recommended. But the prices are quite high.

Overall very disappointing experience. It's way too overpriced for the quantity and taste. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is absolutely not right here. In terms of taste it was below average for our palate a 2/5 and with the prices on top it was actually almost a 1/5. We ordered: - Spaghetti Bolognese 3/10: very standard. You can do it at home too - Vegetarian starter platter 7/10: was ok, not much. Eggplant in cream cheese was delicious. - Schnitzel: 4/10 very standard, there are much better alternatives like Münstermann and almost outrageous for the price - Truffle ravioli: 5/10 price and embarrassed by the quantity. Taste ok. Sounds much better than it tastes - Pinsa 4/10: very standard, there are significantly better ones - Lobster soup: only cream, the taste here is also too standard / boring

We actually wanted to go to a neighboring restaurant, but we didn't like it visually. So (luckily) we ended up stranded here completely by chance. The welcome was incredibly friendly and genuine, not at all arrogant, as is often the case in Düsseldorf. The food was really perfect, starter, intermediate course, main course, everything was wonderful and with a slightly Persian flavor. But only a slight influence, which we liked because you can order from an extensive wine list and everything is quite Mediterranean, but with that special touch. Fantastic pasta! Ravioli filled with lobster, sensational! When I said in passing that it was my wife's birthday while paying, they even brought us a dessert on the house. Here you can feel in every little fiber that the boss is on site and works with his heart and soul together with his people. The best restaurant stay for us in a long time! Food was very good, service was very courteous and attentive! We had a nice time outside in the summer, right on the street, but it wasn't too loud! So everything was great and really recommended!

I went to the restaurant for dinner. I ordered their Spätzle with truffle sauce. It was amazing. They also have wide arrays of superb wine in their collection. I want to try other dishes when I'll come back next.

Not cheap, but worth it! The lobster stuffed ravioli with lobster saffron sauce is excellent and I will have it again next time. This time we skipped the starter and instead chose desserts, which were also convincing. It's very nice to sit outside, because of the plants it's like in a little garden.

You probably always get the bread when you order food. I had the vegetarian antipasti platter which was very tasty. The grape leaves are stuffed with rice. The cool drinks are not alcohol-free but only a non-alcoholic Hugo or homemade lemonade. But I haven't tried it. The bread was definitely homemade with a bit of zucchini (?) in it, super tasty! The restaurant is decorated very chic inside. Despite the street, you can sit comfortably outside between flowers and olive trees

Wir waren am Ostersonntag zu fünft zu einem late Lunch im Massi. Es ist nicht so einfach, Restaurants zu finden, die Sonntags am Nachmittag Essen servieren. Wir wurden angenehm überrascht. Obwohl bei unserem Eintreffen noch Mittagstrubel herrschte, gab es am Service nichts auszusetzen. Unserem Wunsch entsprechend, wurden 5 Vorspeisen in der Mitte des Tisches platziert, so dass wir quer durch die Speisekarte probieren konnten. Die Starter waren ausgezeichnet. Besonders gut gefallen haben uns die Falafel, die Calamari und die persische Vorspeise. Die Hauptgerichte waren ebenfalls alle gut, die Küche spart auch nicht mit der Würze, was unserem Geschmack entspricht. Die paar Trüffescheibchen auf den Fritten zu den Moules Frites waren entbehrlich, aber die Fritten und Muscheln waren sehr gut. Zum Schluss gab es noch eine sehr französische Apfeltarte mit haugemachtem Eis. Dazu eine gute Weinauswahl und ein freundlicher Service, der Theke und Bedienung im Alleingang erledigen musste. Wie waren alle sehr zufrieden und haben das Massi künftig auf dem Schirm.

Been there twice and yet couldn’t get enough of the delicious foods and drinks and nice atmosphere! If you visit beautiful Düsseldorf, you wouldn’t miss your chance to try Massi’s house! As for drinks, I ordered 3 or 4 times the red Jin! Just to wow!! Also, for appetizer, I tried Cappuccino vom Hummer mit persischem Safran, and repeated it another night too, cause the strong taste of it was sth that you would like to remember with all the details! Also the gegrillte Baby Calamari was so good! For the main dish, just go for the Steak! You’ll experience the best taste out of a meat. Just recommend it and I’m a big fan from now on in every travel there

Delicious and presentation is great!

Nice restaurant, chic and rather dark. Attentive service, the dishes came really quickly, even though all three were homemade pasta. It was served beautifully and tasted good. What should be highlighted are the sauces, which are not heavy on the stomach and still give the noodles the texture they need. The drinks were all very good and good value for money. It may not be the first restaurant we would recommend if someone in Dus asked, but definitely not a visit to regret. Not that many tables inside, reservation recommended if you want to go at peak time.

Incredible restaurant. Nicely decorated, very cozy and elegant atmosphere, it makes you feel good as soon as you enter. We had lamb chops for the main course and the meat was tender and super tasty. The falafels and hummus that come with the chops were beautiful too. Even the salad sauces were great. For dessert, the pistachio tiramisu was a great discovery, the sponge in it was amazing, it was one of the best tiramisus I’ve ever had. Compliments to the chef(s) for everything. The service was also perfect, our waiter was really nice and made sure everything was fine for us the whole time. This was our first night in Germany, what a great start of the holidays! If you’re reading the reviews right now, you can stop and go to Massi, it’ll be worth it.

The menu offered a wide range of delicious dishes, freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding and every bite was a treat for the taste buds. I was also impressed by the creative drink options. Overall, an outstanding culinary experience that I would happily recommend. I'm looking forward to returning again soon!

Wie man auf deutsch so sagt: es war ein Gedicht ✨ I randomly discovered this place walking by and liked what I read on their outdoor board, so I saved it here on Google. We had planned to eat somewhere else which was full, and when checking my maps I rediscovered this saved place. And thank goodness for that! The restaurant is relatively small and unassuming, but the dishes are very flavorful and creative. Everything we ate was absolutely perfect and delicious. The presentation made the food almost too pretty to eat! I can recommend the salmon tartar, lobster ravioli, Entrecote, and the desserts. The wine menu is also HUGE and the rosé I chose was delicious. Service very warm and personable. Although it's small, it is not too loud and the music is very nice. Although the prices are a bit higher, it's more than reasonable considering the quality and taste. Highly recommended! It's been a while since I've had such a perfect dining experience. Thank you to the Massi team for making our night!

By far the best restaurant I have visited in Düsseldorf for a long time. The dishes are not only creatively prepared, but also have absolutely multifaceted flavor compositions made from high-quality ingredients that you won't quickly forget.

2. Update January 20, 2024 We went to Massi's a third time and I told our friends in advance that the food was good and the service could be improved. Unfortunately that was the case this time too. When I made my reservation, I was informed of a time slot. Apart from the fact that this hardly exists in good restaurants anymore and only gives the impression of maximizing profits, I went for it and confirmed it with my reservation. When we arrived we weren't greeted in a friendly way, we were only told that we should leave after 2 hours. This really has a bad aftertaste. Especially since some tables remained empty shortly before 8 p.m. We waited 15 minutes for the drinks order to be taken, but they came quickly. The Aperol was a little warm, the wines well chilled. The greeting from the kitchen came without explanation, but was good. A dip would round things off. It can happen that the service tipped over a drink, but a replacement came immediately. The starters were top notch in terms of products and presentation. Unfortunately a bit manageable, value for money if you think about it at 20 euros... the main courses were also very good, especially super hot. Spaetzle with truffle and beef, medium. Top! Mussels and lamb were also delicious. The prices have increased and the dishes have become smaller compared to the last visit. We paid 220 euros for 2 starters, 4 main courses, 3x Aperol, a soft drink and 2 glasses of wine. We girls were a bit cold too. The ambience is nice, but unfortunately the overall package has a few drawbacks... it's a shame. Update: we were guests again yesterday and were pleasantly surprised, the audience has changed positively, no longer felt time pressure, fantastic food, larger portions. Very good wine. It was our first time in Massi and we were impressed by the menu. Unfortunately, the advice about only being allowed to sit for 2 hours was not ideal. An evening with good wine and friends you haven't seen for a long time shouldn't be limited. We then sat outside and were able to stay longer. Other guests received heaters and blankets, which would have been nice. We chose starters, main course and dessert, everything was very well presented. Salt and pepper on the table would have been good too. The wine was good, the service attentive. There were three of us and we paid €240.00 for three courses and two bottles of wine and water. That's absolutely fine. You get enjoyment, the olives as a starter were also very good.
