MARY´s Restaurant in Hannover

We ate at Mary's on October 16, 2025. Unfortunately, the menu had nothing of a gourmet restaurant. The service was very good, as usual, but the food was unfortunately only mediocre. As for the fish in the main course, a gourmet fillet from Iglu is better. The added annoyance after a disastrous meal (€400 for two people) is the €4 parking fee in the on-site parking lot.

Again perfect service and very tasty food.

Exceptionally good food with artistic presentation and generous portions. Extremely attentive and professional staff. A peaceful atmosphere with upscale furnishings in the heart of the city center. A very nice wine cabinet is available in the main room, and two private booths are available for business lunches. Some street parking is available, and there are also several parking garages nearby. Thank you for the excellent food and excellent service!

Great restaurant and excellent service

It was a spontaneous decision to dine at Mary's that evening – and yet, looking back, it was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. As soon as I entered, I sensed that hospitality isn't just a matter of claiming it, but of living it. The elegant yet relaxed ambiance at Kastens Hotel Luisenhof immediately creates a special atmosphere. Despite my short notice, I received a warm welcome and was looked after with both professionalism and attentiveness. The food was simply outstanding. Each course was thoughtfully composed, perfectly presented, and presented with great attention to detail. I was particularly impressed by the harmonious flavors, the quality of the ingredients, and the skillful craftsmanship in the kitchen. A kitchen that knows when less is more – but also when to step into the spotlight. The service was – as you would expect from a hotel of this caliber – excellent: present without being intrusive, competent, charming, and with a keen sense for the right amount of attentiveness. Even if it was just a spontaneous evening, Mary's completely won me over. Anyone in Hanover looking for sophisticated cuisine with soul will find it here. I'll definitely be back – maybe even plan ahead next time.

From the advice for small family celebrations to the service/drink selection and menu, everything was excellent.

We're frequent guests...a very nice selection of different menus, including a purely vegetarian one, and all courses can be ordered individually...very flexible cuisine. Plus...no obnoxious, forced sound...subtle music in the background...beautifully set tables in a classic ambiance. We'd be happy to return...we've already booked our next visit.

Very nice ambience, the lunch menu was very good and reasonably priced.

We know Mary's from various visits to the restaurant or bar, but we've never had such a bad meal there. The yellowfin mackerel tartare with the glass noodles was completely tasteless. We skipped the foam soup. The sturgeon steamed in rice vinegar in the coconut mango was very flat in taste and we had to order knives so that we could cut through the chicory. When I told the result to my friend Bodo, who had frequented Mary's a lot, his comment was: You can't go there on Sunday, because the chef is on vacation

A very cost-effective fine dining. The taste is good, the food is thoughtful, the portion is sufficient, the environment is good, and the service is good. The food is trustworthy, and I will definitely come back if I see a new one I like.

Really great food and super friendly, professional service. The food always came to the table at the same time, cutlery that was no longer needed was cleared away straight away and the food itself was very good. Definitely an experience.

My family is in the business with top chefs and restaurant,hotels over the world, This was one of the very bad experience we had.Over price with what we get, not everything was tasty and this was very shocking. We almost left when they forgot to bring the food during the course we waited almost one hour. And forgotten meal arrived wasn't warm.Course menu must be done in 2hours otherwise you get full impossible to continue eating. Felt like there was no communication between kitchen to the people who serves.Also very pity that not all the waiters has knowledge about the wine,they need to educate more who works there. Maybe it is our mistake that we went this place to think GASTRONOMIE restaurant but it is definitely not.

Very courteous and friendly service, excellent menu and a good selection of wines at a fair price. Here the kitchen knows how to combine flavors and bring taste to the plate. Highly recommended!

Sometimes a bit of excessive service. The food tastes great, even if it's on the top shelf in terms of price. However, we didn't find it very comfortable. The table is perfectly set.

I can 100% recommend Mary’s Restaurant with its dishes/menus that change depending on the season, just like Leo’s Bar. Service/food and drinks deserve 5 stars. The restaurant also offers everything to celebrate special occasions so that guests big and small feel comfortable.

2023: Very elegantly decorated restaurant, attentive service, creative cuisine and excellent wine cellar. As every year, a very successful evening. 2024: Always an address where you feel comfortable. But even a successful restaurant in a traditional 5-star hotel should continually check whether it continues to meet its standards. This time the service (wine order) and the accompaniments to the main course (weird waffles) left a lot to be desired. This was recognized and apologized by the employees, but it should be a small warning signal to management. Here’s to a new one in 2025!

We were given a 50 euro voucher and redeemed it. Of course, it was clear to us beforehand that the 50 euros would only be a deposit. We decided on a 4-course menu and adapted it selectively. So everyone can find something, even if the actual menus don't quite fit. The food was excellent and worth the price. Very nicely prepared and an outstanding taste. The service also contributed everything to making it a lovely evening. The problem we had with the ambience was that we were dressed casually, while the other guests were there in suits and ties. You felt really underdressed - of course the restaurant can't help it - but it doesn't change anything.

Great performance/quality..Excellent cooking..very good products such as venison and duck breast which are also very well prepared.e.g. good sauces and also jus. We were very big fans of the restaurant.. service and cuisine at a star level.. this time we were extremely frustrated a) by the enormous waiting times between courses, the wine advice as well as the service (unfortunately Mr. Hormann was not there ... the good advice from Mr Hormann is also perfect with open wines too) this time it was absolutely not the case..But the extremely poor quality of the cooking and presentation was very disappointing...it has never been like that until now...we have been a regular for decades guests of the restaurant and very much regret the development. What a shame

Great restaurant without any airs and graces! From the greeting to the farewell at a high level. You are brought to the table and asked for your first drink/aperitif. Wine list not a must, the advice from the head waiters (Mr. Hohmann and Vukosavljev) was very appropriate. We had the November monthly menu (duck). This is served in two courses, the after-service works perfectly! Consistently top class in taste! The service team is always on top of the action. This is how you wish for an all-round successful evening!

The atmosphere is very pleasant, perfect every time even after the 7th time! The food was - as usual - fantastic. There is always a choice between more classic and experimental dishes, which I personally find very pleasant. Furthermore, the staff here is very friendly and accommodating. The service corresponds to that of a star restaurant in every aspect.

With the game menu on Saturday, Marys once again offered us a culinary highlight. We would like to thank Mr. Krüger for the selected fine wines, the kitchen team for the creative menu and the restaurant team for the attentive and friendly service. It was a perfect evening.

A wonderful and uncomplicated evening. We also had our little dog with us, who was also pampered by the service team.

A special part of the traditional Kastens Hotel Luisenhof near the train station. We only spent the evening in the small but nice bar area of ​​the hotel to enjoy a few final drinks. It's simply a great hotel with a wonderfully warm touch and very attentive staff, which even when the weather is nice with its outdoor area for a coffee break is inviting for a first meeting 👍👍

I had an excellent and creative vegetarian menu for lunch. The creations appear very well thought out and are implemented with sophistication - as a vegetarian, I have rarely been as satisfied as I was at Mary's. The service was courteous and the atmosphere was calm and cozy. We would like to come again.

Both the June menu and the Mary menu were excellent and the service was very accommodating.

4 course "normal" and vegetarian. Top service, food and wine. The waiter was even able to explain the special preparation of the asparagus in the salad. The menu was so plentiful overall that my partner had the dessert packed and enjoyed it later.

1a service, 1a food and beautiful. I ate the currywurst with fries. The sausage was nothing special but the sauce was very, very tasty and fruity. The fries were homemade, so they were particularly crunchy and filling. The coleslaw wasn't really my thing, it was very oily and sour, but it was well processed.

It wasn't my first time at Mary's and that speaks for itself. It was fantastic again!!! What is being “conjured up” in the kitchen is big money. Kudos and chapeau to the kitchen team! Another plus point is the quiet atmosphere in the restaurant. I will 100% come back.

Very good food, courteous service.

I ate at Mary's again about two weeks ago and found it extremely tasty. All courses were beautifully presented; the fried scallops with lemon risotto were a revelation for me. The service was nice, friendly and unobtrusive as always, with no sign of long waiting times. The water was also always topped up, something I've experienced differently in other restaurants. I have no idea how supposedly former “fans” suddenly get such bad reviews. Maybe they were eating somewhere else... I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit.

It was great and simply PERFECT! We were seated at a table that was specially decorated for us (because we were celebrating a birthday) in a niche where we could be alone. We were able to swap individual courses on the menus and after ordering we quickly received a “greeting from the kitchen”. My highlight was the dessert from the April menu, so beautifully refreshing and perfectly balanced with the woodruff, lemon and rhubarb. It's a special meal that you treat yourself to for an occasion!

My wife and I recently dined at a fine dining restaurant in Hanover, our first in this city, and unfortunately our experience fell far short of our expectations, especially considering our extensive global food history. The service was noticeably poor; we experienced delays in receiving our drinks. My martini apéritif was disappointingly served with ice cubes, a slice of lemon and in a cup rather than a traditional martini glass. When I asked for a martini glass, the waitress's response was dismissively rude, suggesting that this was their standard presentation. We decided to look past it, thinking it might be a unique twist on the classic drink. However, the quality of the food further deteriorated our experience. The bread appeared to be of basic supermarket quality, accompanied by a nondescript butter substitute. The meal started with an unusual combination of curry ice cream and squid, which I found quite inedible. Unfortunately, the following courses did not improve. It's confusing to reconcile our experience with the positive reviews this restaurant has received. I wonder if perhaps the culinary standards in Hanover are different than what we have experienced in other parts of Germany. Overall, this was decidedly the most disappointing dining experience we have ever had.

It's very vintage, including the waiters. Ours stared next to us until we chose the menu. But the food was good, even if with an old-fashioned presentation. I recommend the artichoke cream and the venison tartare.
