MARY´s Restaurant in Hannover

Great restaurant without any airs and graces! From the greeting to the farewell at a high level. You are brought to the table and asked for your first drink/aperitif. Wine list not a must, the advice from the head waiters (Mr. Hohmann and Vukosavljev) was very appropriate. We had the November monthly menu (duck). This is served in two courses, the after-service works perfectly! Consistently top class in taste! The service team is always on top of the action. This is how you wish for an all-round successful evening!

The atmosphere is very pleasant, perfect every time even after the 7th time! The food was - as usual - fantastic. There is always a choice between more classic and experimental dishes, which I personally find very pleasant. Furthermore, the staff here is very friendly and accommodating. The service corresponds to that of a star restaurant in every aspect.

With the game menu on Saturday, Marys once again offered us a culinary highlight. We would like to thank Mr. Krüger for the selected fine wines, the kitchen team for the creative menu and the restaurant team for the attentive and friendly service. It was a perfect evening.

A wonderful and uncomplicated evening. We also had our little dog with us, who was also pampered by the service team.

The kitchen serves outstanding dishes and combines flavors and ingredients expertly without spoiling the local culinary culture. A truly fabulous restaurant with good wine recommendations.

We are guests more often...a very nice selection of different menus, including a purely vegetarian one, all courses can be ordered individually...very flexible cuisine.By the way...no scary forced sound...subtle music in the background...very nicely set tables in a classic ambience. A special part of the traditional Kastens Hotel Luisenhof near the train station. We only spent the evening in the small but nice bar area of ​​the hotel to enjoy a few final drinks. It's simply a great hotel with a wonderfully warm touch and very attentive staff, which even when the weather is nice with its outdoor area for a coffee break is inviting for a first meeting 👍👍

Both the June menu and the Mary menu were excellent and the service was very accommodating.

I had an excellent and creative vegetarian menu for lunch. The creations appear very well thought out and are implemented with sophistication - as a vegetarian, I have rarely been as satisfied as I was at Mary's. The service was courteous and the atmosphere was calm and cozy. We would like to come again.

4 course "normal" and vegetarian. Top service, food and wine. The waiter was even able to explain the special preparation of the asparagus in the salad. The menu was so plentiful overall that my partner had the dessert packed and enjoyed it later.

1a service, 1a food and beautiful. I ate the currywurst with fries. The sausage was nothing special but the sauce was very, very tasty and fruity. The fries were homemade, so they were particularly crunchy and filling. The coleslaw wasn't really my thing, it was very oily and sour, but it was well processed.

It wasn't my first time at Mary's and that speaks for itself. It was fantastic again!!! What is being “conjured up” in the kitchen is big money. Kudos and chapeau to the kitchen team! Another plus point is the quiet atmosphere in the restaurant. I will 100% come back.

Very good food, courteous service.

I ate at Mary's again about two weeks ago and found it extremely tasty. All courses were beautifully presented; the fried scallops with lemon risotto were a revelation for me. The service was nice, friendly and unobtrusive as always, with no sign of long waiting times. The water was also always topped up, something I've experienced differently in other restaurants. I have no idea how supposedly former “fans” suddenly get such bad reviews. Maybe they were eating somewhere else... I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit.

It was great and simply PERFECT! We were seated at a table that was specially decorated for us (because we were celebrating a birthday) in a niche where we could be alone. We were able to swap individual courses on the menus and after ordering we quickly received a “greeting from the kitchen”. My highlight was the dessert from the April menu, so beautifully refreshing and perfectly balanced with the woodruff, lemon and rhubarb. It's a special meal that you treat yourself to for an occasion!

We were very big fans of the restaurant.. service and cuisine at a star level.. this time we were extremely frustrated a) by the enormous waiting times between courses, the wine advice as well as the service (unfortunately Mr. Hormann was not there ... the good advice from Mr Hormann is also perfect with open wines) this time it was absolutely not the case.. But the extremely poor quality of the cooking and presentation was very disappointing... it has never been like that until now... we have been regular guests of the restaurant for decades Restaurant and very much regret the development. What a shame

My wife and I recently dined at a fine dining restaurant in Hanover, our first in this city, and unfortunately our experience fell far short of our expectations, especially considering our extensive global food history. The service was noticeably poor; we experienced delays in receiving our drinks. My martini apéritif was disappointingly served with ice cubes, a slice of lemon and in a cup rather than a traditional martini glass. When I asked for a martini glass, the waitress's response was dismissively rude, suggesting that this was their standard presentation. We decided to look past it, thinking it might be a unique twist on the classic drink. However, the quality of the food further deteriorated our experience. The bread appeared to be of basic supermarket quality, accompanied by a nondescript butter substitute. The meal started with an unusual combination of curry ice cream and squid, which I found quite inedible. Unfortunately, the following courses did not improve. It's confusing to reconcile our experience with the positive reviews this restaurant has received. I wonder if perhaps the culinary standards in Hanover are different than what we have experienced in other parts of Germany. Overall, this was decidedly the most disappointing dining experience we have ever had.

It's very vintage, including the waiters. Ours stared next to us until we chose the menu. But the food was good, even if with an old-fashioned presentation. I recommend the artichoke cream and the venison tartare.

Nettes Essen gut zubereitet in netter Umgebung. Nur der Kellner der unsere Bestellung entgegennahm, der sollte ein paar schlechte Angewohnheiten ablegen. Da es schon eine Weile her ist, ungefähr so: Wir hatten was aus der Karte ausgesucht, welches nicht verfügbar war etc. Der Kellner tippte mit seinem Kugelschreiber auf einen Hinweis- ohne ein Wort zu sagen oder uns anzuschauen.

Auch bei unserem derzeitigen Besuch war wieder jeder Abschnitt des Menüs köstlich im Geschmack sowie ausgezeichnet in Präsentation und Service. Über den hervorragenden Riesling können wir ebenfalls nur Gutes berichten. Vielen Dank für den netten Abend.

Insgesamt hohes Niveau, sowohl in der Küche als auch im Service. Das Risotto fanden wir allerdings zu salzig, daher ein Stern Abzug.

Ein perfekter Abend! Ich hatte erst bedenken wegen des relativ offenen Raumes. Es war aber alles super angenehm. Auch auf Kinderwünsche wird professionell reagiert. Gerne wieder.

Wir waren am 05.12.2023 mit unserem Team zu einer kleinen Weihnachtsfeier im MARY's Restaurant. Bringen wir es auf den Punkt: Wir waren begeistert. Beginnend bei der grandiosen Weinauswahl (inkl. guter Beratung), den wirklich exzellenten Speisen bis hin zum humorvollen und den Verhältnissen angepassten Service: Es war ein wirklich phantastischer Abend und jeden Cent wert. Bei dieser Gelegenheit: Ich finde es schon "bemerkenswert", wenn man - nur um der eigenen Kritik mehr Nachdruck zu verleihen und die Bewertung des Restaurants nach unten zu ziehen - die eigene Rezension von mehreren Besuchern (oder unter verschiedenen Namen) fast wortgleich hier postet. Solch ein kindisches Verhalten zeigt zumindest den Habitus dieser Menschen, welche sich ob ihrer vermeintlichen Benachteiligung als Veganer echauffieren "mussten". Berechtigte Kritik ist gut, richtig und wichtig - der Missbrauch einer solchen Rezensionsplattform bis hin zur "Überlegung", eine Strafanzeige bei der Polizei zu erstatten, ist einfach nur eine Frechheit.

Ein sehr schöner Empfang, toller Rieslingsekt, gute Weinempfehlung. Bis auf die Hauptspeise auch gutes Essen. Die Entenbrust und -keule war leider auf Mensaniveau. Durch und durch graue Entenbrust habe ich selten gegessen. Beim Abräumen erlaubte ich mir einen entsprechenden Hinweis. Reaktion keine. Im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Es wurde der Service eingestellt, so dass wir nach über einer halben Stunde Wartezeit zahlten und gingen.

Unser Besuch im Mary‘s war leider enttäuschend. Der Umgang mit dem Wunsch nach einer veganen Variante des vegetarischen Menus lies sehr zu wünschen übrig und war alles andere als professionell: Während eine gewisse Arroganz in einem nobleren Restaurant zwar dazugehört, gingen mir die Äußerungen teilweise zu weit. Bei der Frage nach einem veganen Wein wurde nicht mal nachgeschaut, bei der ersten Frage, ob es möglich sei das vegetarische Menü vegan zu gestalten kam zurück, dass dann aber eine Menge fehlen könnte, bei einer Rückfrage zu einer Zutat der Vorspeise wurde zwar in der Küche nachgefragt, uns die Antwort aber nicht verraten („Ich habe gesagt, dass es vegan sein soll, also ist es vegan“). Der krönende Abschluss war dann wirklich das salzige Sorbet, welches ohne Erklärung als Dessert serviert wurde. Als die Nachfrage unsererseits kam, wieso es denn salzig sei, wurde als erstes behauptet, dass das gar nicht sein könnte. Dann, dass wohl ein Fehler passiert sein muss. Und dann die Erklärung, dass es sich um ein Salzzitronen-Sorbet handelt, welche normalerweise zu Fisch serviert wird. Ich denke, hier ist der Anspruch nicht zu hoch, eine eindeutige Kommunikation zu erwarten. Die Qualität des vegetarischen Menüs war gut und auch sonst war unser Besuch schön. Aber durch die oben erwähnten Situationen wurde leider alles andere überschattet.

Eine Ohrfeige aus der Küche Die Bitte, das Vegetarische Menü vegan zu gestalten wurde spöttisch zur Kenntnis genommen und endete in einem SALZ-Sorbet als Dessert. Das war kein Versehen, das war eine deutliche Botschaft aus der Küche! In welcher Zeit lebt dieses Restaurant? Die "normalen" Speisen waren gut, der Service zwar bemüht doch recht ungeschickt. Alles in allem, kein Besuch, der wiederholt werden sollte. Schade!

Manic monday Wir besuchten das Restaurant zum Geburtstag an einem offenbar ungünstigen Wochentag, da nur ein weiterer Tisch besetzt war. Wegen vieler positiver Bewertungen vermuten wir, dass das Küchenteam an diesem Tag vielleicht nicht vollständig war. Der Gruß aus der Küche, ein Rote-Bete-Carpaccio, und die Gänseleberpasteten-Rolle waren solide. Die Rinderconsommé war allerdings extrem salzig bzw. Zu stark konzentriert und mit fast rohen Karotten garniert. Einige von uns haben dann auch die stark konzentriertr Brühe nicht aufgegessen. Der Hauptgang ,die Entenbrust war wenig kross und übergar, positiv war nur, dass reichlich Soße vorhanden war. Als Nachtisch hatten wir die Creme brulee mit Tonka. Bohnen, war OK aber in deutlich günstigeren Restaurants wird das karamellisieren frisch oder sogar am Tisch durchgeführt. Unsere Creme war vorproduziert. Wir vermuten, dass die Qualität aufgrund der womöglich ungewöhnlichen Küchenbesetzung litt ? Unsere Unzufriedenheit wurde offensichtlich bemerkt, da niemand ( außer nach dem Gruß aus der Küche) nach unserer Meinung zu den Speisen fragte. Obwohl wir eingeladen waren und daher keine aktive direkte Kritik äußerten, hätten wir dies sicher getan, wenn wir danach gefragt worden wären." Schade

Ambiente ein wenig konservativ, dass Essen glücklicherweise nicht, Service zuvorkommend und meistens auf der Höhe.

Wir (23 und 27 Jahre) waren hier um unseren 5. Jahrestag zu feiern. Der Tag bleibt uns sicher lange in Erinnerung. Sehr freundliches Personal und tolle Gerichte. So menschlich und zuvorkommend ist es nicht überall. Gerade die Einrichtung finde ich Klasse. Auch an Regentagen ist es hier gemütlich und durch die passende Hintergrundmusik wird auch der graueste Tag ein Highlight. Vielen Dank für das tolle Erlebnis, hier ist man wirklich mit Herzblut dabei.

Das Personal versteht sein Handwerk und ist nicht nur bemüht sondern erfolgreich dabei, seinen Gästen einen wunderbaren Abend voller Genuss und frei von Sorgen zu bereiten. Die Küche ist hervorragend und behält dabei eine gewisse Bodenständigkeit. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder.

I truly enjoyed eating here. The food honors the traditional French cuisine with lovely presentations. What I found especially remarkable in this restaurant is the professionalism of the maître d’hôtel, which could be noticed both directly (through his attentiveness, communication and knowledge of the menu and matching wines) and indirectly (by how he creates the atmosphere in which his young team of waiting staff can work professionally yet flourish with a personal touch). Seeing these high standards being kept is just heartwarming, and makes it an allround wonderful experience that had me leaving with a smile and already makes me anxiously look forward to my next visit to Hanover!
