Markusschänke in Bonn

Clearly a community restaurant where everybody knows everybody. We went on a Monday, no waiting necessary. I ate the turkey with baked potato and my wife had the Mickey Mouse kiddie plate whidh was schnitzel with gravy. Delicious. Forever will be my quintessential German diner experience. They had an English menu and copious amount of kolsch.

A quaint, typical German pub in Bonn. Great service. The food—I had a lumberjack schnitzel with fried potatoes—was super delicious, and the portions were just right. The Kölsch beer was delicious. I'll be happy to come back here when I'm in Bonn!

First time here today, and the food wasn't exactly great. The farmer's omelet needs to be rehearsed; it was very greasy from the bacon, and potatoes were in short supply. The farm looks different than the photos depicted here.

We had lunch there as part of our company outing. The food was delicious and the service was very attentive. Highly recommended, thank you!

Very good asparagus, rustic atmosphere

We ate there for the first time today and had 3 dishes, 2 of which were great, but in the 3rd dish there was bacon in a champion cream sauce without it being declared or being pointed out to me even though I had ordered a chicken schnitzel. There was also a bone in the chicken. Of course I told the waitress about this when paying, but all I got were snappy answers and unfriendly behavior. However, the other waitress with the dark hair was super friendly and accommodating.

Delicious, fresh Peters Kölsch in a tavern atmosphere. Hearty meals, inexpensive cuisine and good company. What more could you want? One of the last honest and beautiful Veedel pubs.

They don't deal well with tourists

Apparently it's only for locals. Came in and sat at a table but were unable to contact any staff and could not order. Have left again.

Wonderful pub-like restaurant in the middle of a small neighborhood (Bonn). Food was prepared quickly and tasted super.

FC fan bar, for football there is Kölsch and local food, the broad beans are particularly recommended. The beer comes quickly, even if it's a little fuller.

Original pub with flair, good home-style food at moderate prices. You can watch football on the weekend.

I was very happy to go there because they have a bowling alley there and gave me the opportunity to make a reservation on the phone at fairly short notice, a week in advance. We had planned a surprise birthday party as a large group. When we arrived on site with the birthday child and wanted to break up the surprise, we were turned away in a very unfriendly manner. I was accused of having made a reservation for the previous day and that the mistake was mine. Of course I knew what day the birthday was on, so I couldn't have said the wrong day on the phone. Apparently the regulars' table is always there that day. They should have told me that directly on the phone and not verbally confirmed what seemed to be a reservation over the phone. No solution was sought on site, nor were we offered the opportunity to eat there instead. The whole thing was very unfortunate and could have been handled with much more compassion. Poor organization and apparently not very welcoming to new guests.

The beautiful pub on the doorstep. We had good food, nice service and a lot of fun. Would love to come back.

Service is always quick, very friendly and very committed. The food is good, home-style and reasonably priced, even on a budget. Nevertheless the quality of the food could be better. You can tell that the meat is bought cheaply. If you like fried potatoes and simple schnitzel and want lunch during the week, you'll be well catered for there. You can linger there and drink some wine and a beer or two. A very sociable restaurant. One of the few that remain today.

The only thing that annoys me is that I discovered the store so late. Delicious food, large portions at affordable prices. Hats off. The lunch specials are awesome. Everything is freshly prepared. Absolute recommendation. A MUST for FC fans anyway!

We simply weren't served. We waited in vain for almost an hour. Simply incredible. Was it because we are not regular customers and had incorrect pronunciation?

I can only agree with all the positive reviews. The negative reviews should remember that it is not a star restaurant but a friendly pub with fair prices.

Baked potato with turkey was good. Almost all other options have pork. There’s also shrimp.

Nice, friendly, cozy “sports” pub with a lunch menu and a la carte in the evenings. Great and cheap meals with a nice terrace in front of the entrance and behind the house (garden).

You could probably call this a “bar in the neighborhood”. She seems to have grown into the environment. Food good and simple.

A Bonn institution popular with the locals. You feel welcome and everyone is very hospitable. Respect to the hospitality, who ran the whole place by themselves :-) good home cooking with decent portions. Only recommended.

Table stuck, not a good first impression. 0.5L non-alcoholic beer for 5 EUR. Food was a large portion but not good.

Want some good food quickly? Works great in the Markusschänke!!!! For structural reasons, the outside area faces the street. The only small negative point. Otherwise nice service and everything was GOOD.

You eat with friends! There is no other way to describe it. The service is absolutely friendly and courteous, the food is delicious, the portions are great. The bowling alley may not be the newest, but it's still a lot of fun. Overall, the entire atmosphere there is absolutely nice and just like being at a good friend's home.

The Markusschänke always surprises! Today I ate from the asparagus menu and I have to say: great! The asparagus came well cooked to perfection. There was also no skimping on the tasty ham. Unbeaten in terms of price-performance ratio, at least in Bonn. The service is quick and unobtrusive, as you would expect. I've decided I'll come back soon!

One of the last real "village pubs" and therefore a rare find. Plus it's an Effzeh pub!!! The 0.2 Peters Kölsch is cold and fresh and at €2 cheaper than in many other shops. There is a very good selection of dishes, currently also an extra asparagus menu. Unfortunately I found the curry sauce a bit too sweet, but that's a matter of taste. The Markusschänke is definitely worth a visit!

APPARENTLY NO LONGER A FC PUB In the past, you could rely on being able to see every 1. FC Köln game in the Markusschänke. I came with a friend two hours before kick-off. When the game started, it turned out that the majority of the restaurant would be running the circular switch. The waitress didn't think it was necessary to point this out to us in time, so we might have found a place in the small part of the Markusschänke where the FC game was being broadcast. We then left, very annoyed.

Very tasty food. The waitress is also friendly. She has a lot to do at lunchtime and is constantly running back and forth, which logically cannot be avoided. The Markusschänke is a typical pub, but the food is above average. Today I had grandma's fried potatoes with 3 fried eggs and salad. The fried potatoes are fried with onions and bacon until golden to brown (the way it should be). With the fried egg, the white part was firm and the yolk was partially firm but mostly waxy. Personally, I also like it when the egg yolk isn't slightly runny, but that's a matter of taste. The salad consists mainly of green lettuce and grated carrots and tomato pieces. The amount of yogurt dressing is just right. All in all a successful visit.

I got to know the Markusschänke yesterday after the Kessenich carnival procession. Really good atmosphere, not too crowded and a diverse crowd 😃

It was the first time there and definitely not the last time. For our Christmas party (we had reserved) Everything was set tightly and with a lot of love. Everyone found the atmosphere to be very comfortable. The food came quickly and for all 21 people at the same time, even though they were selected from the menu and not pre-ordered. It was tasty and very tasty for everyone. The price/performance ratio is also right here. The service, although alone, was very quick, extremely friendly and accommodating. It was a very successful evening for all of us. We were definitely not here for the last time.

The heart and soul of Kessenich. All generations, all parts of the population. Great! And nowhere is the price/performance ratio better!

Eine wunderbare lokale Kneipe wie man sie noch von früher her kennt. Leckeres Essen (Achtung Hunger mitbringen! :D) zu fairen Preisen. Bedienung sehr freundlich und echt schnell. Viele Einheimische wissen die Kneipe ebenfalls zu schätzen - sei es zum Fußball schauen, Skat oder Würfel spielen - zum Abend hin auch unter der Woche gut gefüllt. Alle locker und freundlich drauf. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und waren zwei Tage später gleich noch mal da.

Ich war am Freitag zum ersten Mal dort. Aber schon mein Anruf am Vormittag wurde sehr nett angenommen. Ich war auf der Suche nach einer Kneipe, die Spiele vom FC Köln zeigt, und siehe da, hier war ich genau richtig! Zur Ankunftszeit war es schon recht voll, aber trotz allem bekamen wir noch einen tollen Platz. Die Bedienung war super nett und trotz dass es sehr voll war, total aufmerksam. Das Essen war hervorragend, kann man nicht anders beschreiben. Zum guten Schluss möchte ich sagen, dass es ein Ort ist, wo man wirklich schnell in Kontakt mit anderen Menschen kommt und was mir besonders wichtig war, ich habe mich nicht "fremd" gefühlt, danke dafür <3

Aus dem Ruhrgebiet kommend muss ich ins beschauliche Bonn fahren um solch ein Kleinod zu entdecken. Eine Veedel- Kneipe die uns im Ruhrgebiet leider an vielen Stellen abhanden gekommen ist. Zweimal besucht, immer proppevoll. Gute Stimmung am Tresen, den es noch gibt (!). Direkte aber herzliche Bewirtung, einfaches aber ehrliches Esse zu mehr als fairen Preisen. Ok, man trinkt Kölsch 😉 Die Markusschänke sollte ins Kulturverzeichnis der Stadt Bonn aufgenommen werden !!!

Geheimtipp. Ohne Touristen original "Bönnsche Art". Die Bratkartoffeln muss man dort genossen haben und alles andere - ausser das Holzfällersteak mit sehr vielen Zwiebeln.

Klassisch Rheinländische Kneipe mit eindeutig erkennbaren Bezug zum FC Köln. Hier trifft sich wirklich jung und alt. Es gibt einen Mittagstisch mit einem wechselnden Gericht pro Tag (typischerweise Hausmannskost oder einfache Gerichte). Abends gibt es eine üppigere Speisekarte. Ich besuche die Markusschänke gern. Wenn es etwas voller ist, kann es aber auch immer mal wieder zu längeren Wartezeiten kommen, da meist nur eine Kellnerin/Barfrau dort ist, es aber sehr viele Plätze für bierdurstige Gäste gibt.

Wir haben uns diese Kneipe als Ziel zum Abendessen für einen 2-tägigen Kurztrip zur Museumsmeile ausgesucht. Der Laden war voll, wir wurden herzlich von der wunderbaren sehr engagierten Bedienung und den anwesenden Gästen empfangen! Schnell wurde ein Platz an der Theke gefunden. Das bestellte Essen, saisonales Spargelgericht, übertraf alle Erwartungen an eine Fußballkneipe und hat absolutes Restaurant-Niveau. Man kommt schnell ins Gespräch mit sympathischen Stammgästen, wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist wirklich die hervorragende Bedienung; sie kennt keine Probleme, nur Lösungen - liebe Grüße aus Bad Ems... Am nächsten Abend waren wir daher nochmal da, und es war wieder super. Vielen Dank für alles!

Heute war ich auf Empfehlung zum Traditionellen Fischessen bei Euch zu Gast. Ich bin trotz vollem Haus so herzlich empfangen worden und habe zum Glück noch einen Sitzplatz an der Theke bekommen und ein lieber Gast hat mir sogar noch einen Barhocker organisiert. Der Fisch und Kartoffelsalat waren mega lecker,einfach mit liebe gemacht❤️. Ein Hoch auf die Köchin, das weibliche Team und die Gäste!!! Es war mir eine Freude hier gewesen zu sein. Ich komme wieder....

Dieses Lokal ist einfach kult. Eigentlich ist es das letzte Lokal in Kessenich, welches Kneipe und Gaststätte verbindet. Es wäre schade, wenn es diesen Anlaufpunkt nicht mehr geben würde.
