Godesburg in Bonn

There were four of us at the Sunday brunch, and we were all thrilled: the breakfast/starter buffet with whole salmon, vitello tonnato, grilled vegetables, cheese, cold cuts, etc., was perfect. For the main course, they offered duck leg, cod, and roast beef with various side dishes. The food was also superb. For dessert, there was tiramisu and various creamy desserts, which were also delicious. The value for money is excellent.

We celebrated our wedding there. It was wonderful and I can highly recommend the restaurant. Everything was perfect.

The trip to the castle was more of a short detour, as we were informed on site that the restaurant was closed seasonally and was currently only hosting Christmas parties. This wasn't mentioned on the website or at the entrance. It would be very helpful to have this information available somewhere. At least the view was lovely.

We celebrated my father's 85th birthday at Godesburg Castle, and it was a truly special occasion. We arrived at lunchtime, and the restaurant was actually closed because a large event was taking place that evening. Everyone was very busy, and we were worried we'd have to find another venue for the celebratory meal. But then everything was arranged, and we were given a special table in a small, charming room with a view of the Siebengebirge hills. The food was excellent. The service was warm and very attentive. We went to brunch in the grand hall on the first Sunday of Advent, and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was superb, everything was constantly replenished, and there was never any worry about running out of anything. The selection of hot dishes was also excellent. The welcome was truly warm, and the staff were very friendly, unobtrusive yet attentive. That's what makes Godesburg so special: a fantastic view of the Rhine Valley, beautiful, understated Christmas decorations, and an elegant ambiance enhanced by the pianist. The only minor criticism: the pieces could have been a bit more Christmassy. Overall, highly recommended.

Godesburg is always worth a visit. The catering for our event was excellent once again. The staff was attentive, though sometimes a little too quick with clearing the tables.

Everything was perfect; the tour started from up here, a special Cologne-style St. Martin's Day walk... The goulash soup was sensational, the service attentive, hardworking, and friendly, and the view and atmosphere are simply something you have to experience. I'd gladly come back again.

Unfortunately, the dinner show was poorly organized. There was no atmosphere, the management was poor, and the food was okay.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding at Godesburg Castle on July 11, 2025, and we are still so happy with our decision! Even the initial meetings with Björn (the best man!) were very pleasant, and his calm demeanor was contagious. You can immediately tell he's a true professional, and our wishes were always his top priority! True to the motto "anything is possible, nothing is mandatory," he never put any obstacles in our way and even supported us with his friendly manner in making things happen! Vendors were able to contact the castle directly and coordinate everything. Since we're from Berlin, we had to arrange a lot by phone and email… all without any problems! The day itself: PERFECT! Food: TOP-NOTCH, and that's not just our opinion, but also that of our 80 guests! Staff: attentive, very friendly, and accommodating! Ambiance: needs no further explanation with floor-to-ceiling windows and a view of the Siebengebirge hills! The ambiance: floor-to-ceiling windows and a view of the Siebengebirge hills speak for themselves! ... Price-wise: Anyone who knows how expensive a celebration like this can be will truly appreciate the value for money offered by Godesburg! The Sunday brunch is highly recommended: a very good selection of high-quality food.

Some of the food was very good, some not so good. Likewise, the staff were sometimes friendly, and sometimes less so. Prices ranged from average to high, as the portions weren't particularly large. I find the view here unspectacular; there are better places, but it's nice that you can go up the tower for €1.

We were privileged to celebrate our wedding at the Godesburg Castle in the restaurant, the wine bar, and on the terrace. The ambiance, including the view, is absolutely fantastic. From the very first meeting, we received a warm welcome, excellent advice, and were even pointed out things we hadn't thought of ourselves. From the food to the service, everything was perfect, including the feeling of being welcomed as part of the family. Dear Björn and Nils, we would love to come back. We got married at the Godesburg 7 years ago and have visited the restaurant every year since then for our wedding anniversary. It's a great joy for us every year to see that the culinary quality, but especially the friendliness and professionalism of the team, and the wonderful atmosphere at this location have remained consistent over so many years. Even when the restaurant was operating on "emergency duty" during the pandemic, we still managed to have a pleasant little chat with the team – and a cappuccino – during a spontaneous visit. Our child now comes with us to the Godesburg. No matter what time of day we were here – for brunch, coffee, or dinner – we are treated to excellent food year after year and always feel just as warmly welcomed as we did on our wedding day. We celebrated our wedding last Friday in the Knight's Hall. The ceremony took place beforehand on the terrace. It was absolute perfection; we have no complaints. All our arrangements were fulfilled, the service was professional and incredibly friendly, the food was fantastic, and the location speaks for itself. If you want to have nothing to worry about on your big day and know you're in good hands, this is the place for you. The guests were amazed, and I received nothing but compliments. Everyone felt comfortable and well looked after at all times; no wish was left unfulfilled. It was truly the most beautiful day of our lives, and the Godesburg Castle played a huge part in that. Thank you so much!

It has a strange vibe. It looks totally run-down from the outside. Tarpaulins flapping in the wind, dead plants, a dirty grill... The mountain is a popular viewing point, and unfortunately, it's really not very nice up there. If Godesburg Castle itself is your responsibility: why does it seem to never be open? It's the jewel of our town, and you can never visit it because you can't rely on its opening hours!

I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The service was very attentive and exceptionally friendly. The advice on wine and the menu was very competent. From the chef's greetings to the appetizer, main course, and dessert, everything was deliciously seasoned, and the quality was also a solid 1. We celebrated my son and his wife's wedding at the Godesburg on September 6, 2025. It was an absolute experience, and then the view of Peterberg and Drachenfels—there's only one word: perfect. Such a large celebration requires not only a special location, but above all a dedicated and professional team. The staff at the Godesburg impressed us from start to finish. We received a warm welcome right from the reception; everything was perfectly organized, and everything ran smoothly. The staff were attentive, courteous, and always present with a smile – whether at the bar, serving, or in the background. I would particularly like to emphasize how flexibly the team responded to the diverse needs: Adults felt well looked after, and even the younger guests received attention and appropriate activities. Despite the large number of guests, there was never a feeling of hecticness, but rather a pleasant, hospitable atmosphere. The service staff played a significant role in making this day unforgettable. A huge thank you for your warmth, professionalism, and dedication! We can wholeheartedly recommend Godesburg and its team. We thank the wonderful team ☺️

A wonderful place, very good and above all friendly service

I was privileged to accompany a wedding in the Knight's Hall of the Godesburg Castle on August 23, 2025. Even arriving in the courtyard is impressive – the historic backdrop with its striking tower, the view over Bonn, Bad Godesberg, and the Siebengebirge mountains are simply breathtaking. The staff was consistently friendly, welcoming, and very helpful – the perfect setting for a relaxed celebration. As an event and wedding DJ from Königswinter, I highly recommend this venue. If you're looking for a unique atmosphere and an unforgettable setting for your event, this is the place for you.

Our visit to the restaurant on the Godesburg took place on a Saturday evening. We received a warm welcome and were lucky enough to sit at a window seat with a beautiful view of Bad Godesberg and Mehlem. The atmosphere was classy. The wine list was excellent with a varied selection from Germany, France, Italy and Australia. We were particularly impressed by the white wines from Gut Alois Lageder from South Tyrol, each a Chardonnay and a Pinot Grigio. As a greeting from the kitchen there was fresh bread with butter - a nice detail. The starter, agnolotti with ricotta and truffle filling, prawns and game salad, was excellent. The shrimp were perfectly deveined and the flavors harmonized wonderfully. After this successful start, our expectations for the rest of the evening increased. Unfortunately, the main course and dessert couldn't quite live up to the strong starter. The roast beef with red cabbage and spaetzle had a strong taste, but was unfortunately a little too salty. The pike perch with tagliatelle, savoy cabbage and paprika foam was well cooked, but had a light breadcrumb crust that didn't quite fit the composition. The paprika sauce (instead of foam) tasted okay, but in our opinion a lemon sauce or sage butter would have gone better with the fish and pasta. Unfortunately, the tagliatelle were also too soft. The dessert variation (€14) consisted of a small, slightly dry plum tiramisu, a spoonful of mousse and a small bowl of panna cotta as well as a scoop of apple sorbet. Unfortunately, the selection seemed more like a pre-compilation from the Sunday brunch offering the next day than a specifically composed dessert. Unfortunately, it was also the only dessert option of the evening. What we liked: The friendly, attentive service, the beautiful view, the special location, atmosphere and the excellent wine selection. The agnolotti in the starter was outstanding. The main course was less convincing, with weaknesses in the seasoning and the coordination of the components, as was the dessert, which reflected the price level neither in quantity nor quality. For two people the bill was 155 euros. Given the fluctuations in the level, we are unsure whether we would come back regularly from now on. But we can well imagine a second chance – perhaps at brunch. We give it 3.5 stars out of five, but rounded up because of the positive aspects. Despite some minor disappointments with the food, overall we had a pleasant evening.

We got married at the Godesburg on October 19, 2024, and enjoyed an unforgettable celebration with around 100 guests. Despite limited planning time, all of our wishes were met – a huge thank you to Björn, who made everything possible with his dedication! Nils, who was our representative, also looked after us reliably and friendly throughout. The food was excellent and was praised by all guests. The service was attentive, professional, and warm – hospitality is still alive here. We would especially like to emphasize the human touch and communication on equal terms that we experienced from the entire team. A huge thank you to the entire team – you did a fantastic job! We can absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend the venue and the restaurant.

The climb is worth it (we were thrilled about the elevator for people with walking difficulties), and the view and ambiance are simply wonderful. We can't rate the food and service because a wedding was taking place during our visit, although the restaurant and outdoor area were beautifully decorated.

After repeated visits to the restaurant, both privately and for events, most recently at the Bonn Bridge Club's anniversary tournament, I consider it appropriate to sing the Godesburg Restaurant's praises: The cuisine, the wine cellar, and especially the service team meet the highest standards. Added to that is the sophisticated ambiance and the almost unsurpassable panoramic view of the Siebengebirge mountains. You'd have to search long and hard to find anything similar in Bonn.

We had a fantastic evening at the Godesburg, and absolutely everything went perfectly. Even the initial consultation was very pleasant, and the entire process was highly professional. We were delighted with the perfect decorations right from the start – it couldn't have been more beautiful. We received a friendly welcome, and all our requests were met. The cuisine did not disappoint – in fact, each of the four courses was unsurpassed. The service was friendly, attentive, and very well-organized. You couldn't ask for more! The fantastic team at the Godesburg did everything they could to ensure we had a truly wonderful, unforgettable celebration. Even our dog was warmly welcomed as a guest and received water and treats without being asked. A first-class location with a fantastic atmosphere that we can highly recommend. We're already looking forward to our next celebration – ideally at the Godesburg again.

We had a special evening at an ABBA dinner. Despite the large number of guests, the food was hot and very good. The castle is a great location.

We had a wonderful candlelight dinner in the Godesburg. The price-performance ratio for a 5-course menu and matching wine accompaniment was top, we really liked the food and the service was outstanding. The view is definitely a 10 out of 10. However, the ambience could use a bit of a refresh as the style is a bit dated. A small downer was that there was a crime dinner next door, the loud noises of which were sometimes disturbing. But overall a very nice evening.

Absolutely magical place! The restaurant is set in an old castle on top of a hill, offering breathtaking views. Inside, everything is spotless and beautifully maintained. The staff are true professionals, and there's even a talented gentleman playing live piano music, which adds to the charm. The food is plentiful and incredibly delicious. We had brunch at this restaurant on Sunday. We arrived spontaneously, did not book in advance. They found 1 free table for us, but it’s better to book for the future, as it was almost full. Parking was difficult, everything was busy and we had to look for a long time to find somewhere to leave the car. The restaurant is good, beautiful view of the city, a variety of dishes 😻offered fish, meat, various cheeses, carpaccio, desserts. Wide choice, buffet, quality of food at a high level. We were very pleased with the brunch, had a good time and were full for the whole day ahead. We recommend 🔥

In June 2024 we had the unique opportunity to celebrate our wedding, including an ambient wedding, at Godesburg. And what can you say, it was a dream. The location (Knight's Hall) is simply great and offered our wedding party of around 70 people a lot of space for tables, gifts and a dance floor. For the ambient wedding we had booked the winter garden with a view of the Siebengebirge and the Godesburg team prepared a fantastic location for our wedding, as well as the Prosecco reception with appetizers afterwards. All in all: it was a perfect day. The Godesburg team and our contact Nils made a significant contribution to this. The viewing and booking was uncomplicated and went smoothly. When planning, we always had a personal contact and all our wishes were fulfilled, including a Prosecco reception with Prosecco from Valdobbiadene, a 5-course meal at our seat, mini burgers as a midnight snack and use of the piano by our own pianist. True to the motto “It doesn’t work, it doesn’t exist”. And that's what you want for your special day. On our wedding day itself, everything went like clockwork. We had a great ambience, great service, fantastic food (I've never eaten such good veal), great wines and a great atmosphere. Godesburg's collaboration with other service providers (pastry chef, pianist) also went smoothly without us having to worry about it. A clear recommendation from start to finish! Should we get married again (which hopefully won't happen) 😉 always happy to go to Godesburg! Dear Godesburg team, thank you very much for making our wedding something very special!

We were able to spend New Year's Eve in an exquisite atmosphere, with excellent food, attentive service and very pleasant table neighbors. There’s no need to say more about it, right!?

After our wedding ceremony in Godesburg, we ate together in the restaurant there and were absolutely thrilled. We were able to put together our desired menu in advance from an extensive banquet folder and every course was of high quality and really tasty. The service was top and the ambience was perfect. And all of this at really fair prices. We will definitely come back again and will definitely recommend the Godesburg restaurant.

Very nice restaurant with a spectacular view on the Rhine valley. Located within an old castle building, the interior is elegant, although bit old. Very good service, nice local menu with seasonal choices. Suitable for vegans. A nice selection of local wines available.

Beautiful ambience and great views. Was there as a DJ to accompany a wedding. Very courteous staff, very tasty food and a great location. Note to all service providers who have a lot of equipment with them: Take a transport trolley with large tires with you, as access to the location is only possible via an elevator and from there you have to walk a good 50 meters over cobblestones.

Nice ambience, great view, unfortunately the terrace is not designed for guests: the tables are unstable, one of our tables tipped over onto a child. An incredible number of wasps. Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is too high. The food was good.

We celebrated our wedding on Saturday with 150 guests in the Godesburg. Let's start at the beginning. We knew from the first phone call that we wouldn't fall on deaf ears and that service is very important in Godesburg. The planning with those responsible went perfectly and every wish, every little detail of ours was fulfilled. (When we left the Godesburg during the first viewing of the location and the first conversation with the boss, my wife said straight away: “That's it! We're going to celebrate our dream wedding here!”) You could call us at any time up until the big day Personally plan everything exactly as you want it! The boss himself, Mr. Schloter, deserves special mention here. On the big day itself, everything went exactly as we imagined. From the champagne reception to leaving the Harte Kern in the middle of the night, everything went perfectly! The wedding guests were thrilled with the food and the beautiful location! I myself learned in the catering industry and have to say that I have never seen such attentive and fast service staff as in Godesburg. All service staff were extremely friendly, competent and implemented every wish of the guests and the bridal couple in seconds. This location, this team with their extremely friendly and competent boss are an absolute recommendation to celebrate a wedding or other event there! We ourselves would do it again at any time!

We celebrated our wedding here at Godesburg and we are simply thrilled! The service, food and drinks were top notch! The ambience is simply a dream with the view of the Siebengebirge! We also received only positive feedback from our guests. The preliminary arrangements also went smoothly and all requests were well addressed. We can therefore absolutely recommend Godesburg as an event location to everyone!

Breathtaking view, very good, friendly service and great ambience. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food as we only had something to drink.

We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary with Sunday brunch and asked for a table with a beautiful view. This was completely missed and our table was then at the buffet. In the end they apologized with a bottle of champagne. The staff was not understaffed but slightly overwhelmed. We waited 10 minutes for the welcome drinks. I had to refill my coffee myself after 30 minutes. Drinks other than filter coffee cost extra. A bottle of sparkling water €8.50. The food was okay but not convincing. There were long queues because an employee was putting the buffet on the plate for the guests. The dessert was only added upon request. The view is nice but mostly overgrown. Conclusion: A €30 buffet is offered here for €50 per person. Every better hotel offers something similar for less. We were here before years ago, but in the evening we had a course menu. At the time we were thrilled and not so disappointed. Too bad

The Godesburg Restaurant provided catering for a garden party for 60 people. There was a lot of praise from our guests for the food delivered. There was also a varied selection for vegetarians. All promises made by the restaurant were kept. The delivery was on time to the minute. We are completely satisfied and recommend the Godesburg without reservation.

We went to Mother's Day brunch. Absolutely worth it! Lately we are choosing brunch options less and less because they are usually expensive and the choice and quality are becoming less and less. But the brunch here was a pleasant surprise. Truly unique dishes were offered, from regular breakfast options to cooked options and a good selection of desserts. A pianist played the whole time, which made it even more special and beautiful. Yes, it's expensive, but definitely worth it for special occasions. The ambience, the view from above, the quality of the food and the really good service. They often asked us if we needed anything or wanted something to drink. There were no delays in clearing empty plates and the staff were very nice to the children.

Unfortunately only an impression from a wedding celebration. The service tried to provide missing place settings quickly. But otherwise very friendly and accommodating. It still gave the impression that one thing or another had gone wrong. The food was very tasty, meat was just right, vegetables were not too soft and still firm to the bite, just as they should be. There was also schnitzel that you couldn't go wrong with. Starters, such as pasta with pesto and shaved truffles, were also very tasty. As a castle lover, I found the ambience itself very nice.

My birthday in the Knights' Hall was a dream! Everything was perfect, food, service, ambience, price/performance, everything was just right! Gladly again and highly recommended!

A bit run down in places (toilets), stairs to the toilet difficult or not safe

12/2023: A lot has happened. After the experiences in 2022, we wanted to know it again and were positively impressed. Everything was well organized, in my opinion fewer tables and logistically much better. As always, the food was excellent and the service was very accommodating. We are coming again next year. 12/2022: Logistically a complete disaster!!! Basically, we really enjoy visiting the restaurant on the Godesburg, but never again on a public holiday!! We were here on Boxing Day. The large hall was packed with tables. The buffet consisted of 3 tables. The waiting time is an impressive 25 minutes. Sorry, that's not possible at all given the high price. The second star is only for the good quality of the food! Conclusion: Never again on a public holiday. Proud prices and logistically inadequate!!

Nice location, unfortunately the food was cold and not really good. I guess it depends on what you ordered.

The place is beautiful, an old castle on a mountain, but the food and price are not up to par. I would not go back

Great location (that's what they say in a fitting short form)! Stands for an extraordinary ambience, great views, stylish furnishings, attentive service! We were there for brunch, very extensive, delicious brunch...! My guests and I were pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed our stay!

Nice restaurant in a great location.

A great stylish atmosphere, very friendly, attentive service. The food was very tasty, beautifully presented and generous portions. We ate there during the week. Plus the great view of the Siebengebirge and Bad Godesberg, what more could you want. We'd love to come back.

Tolles Essen in schönen Ambiente von freundlichen und aufmerksamen Menschen gereicht. Lohnt sich!
