Great location, near Tempelhof. The flammkuchen was delicious, very tasty. Unfortunately, it wasn't very filling. The drink was okay. The service was friendly and the kitchen was fast, even though we arrived an hour before closing time. Because of this, we unfortunately couldn't order dessert; otherwise, we would have.

We ate two delicious galettes, since I have several intolerances the chef made it specifically for me with ingredients that I could eat. The waiter is very kind, attentive. Honest price even if the wine is a little expensive but these are now the prices of wine in Berlin. Five stars.!

We just had dinner here. The service was very attentive and yet not intrusive. We had tarte flambée and gallette, everything was better than average. Unfortunately the cider was out, which was a shame. We just drank wine. We would love to come back and felt very comfortable...

I waited for 30 minutes and no one came to take my order, so I went to the counter and ordered myself. The food took another 30 minutes to arrive and the drinks took so long to be brought, that I was done eating when they arrived. I told the waitress I didn't want the drinks anymore, but they told me I had to pay for them anyway. Very disappointed with my experience here, I wouldn't return or recommend to my friends.

Atmosphere was great and the food was really decent but one of the dishes really missed the mark and was a bit soggy which was unfortunate.

This bistro combines everything that has gone so wrong and is incredibly annoying about the gentrification of Berlin (especially Neukölln). The service is basically none: a completely overwhelmed student (probably) who doesn't speak a word of German and seems very unambitious. We ordered an espresso doppio and what came was a cold, sour regular espresso - no sugar, no spoon. The food is overpriced by default, the quality is average at best. I wanted to pack leftover food: packaging costs 50 cents extra - in my opinion an absolute disgrace. Well and of course only cash is possible - always a minus point for me. So: tourist rip-off - never again

Great place, hand-picked coffee beans roasted exactly to Mama Kalo's specification. Authentic and delicious mocca. Friendly and forthcoming staff, and the owner is as hospitable as can be. Shows the bright side of the southern part of Berlin. Highly recommended. Will definitely come again. Thanks 🙏🏼

We were looking for a place to eat and found this gem :) the staff are so so friendly and kind, the food was also delicious. I like the idea of combining French and German cuisine, the galette with mushrooms was top😍 they have a cute terrace too. I recommend it!

Very cozy bistro, delicious salad! I was served in a friendly manner and the food was brought out very quickly. I had a salad with goat cheese and it was great (not a reduced vinaigrette anywhere ^^).

except for the fact that its cash only, everything is great, very elegant minimalistic deco, really delicious food. we had the beetroot goat cheese galette. the salad that came with it was very fresh and tasty.

I know that most places serve avocado on toast. Yes it’s common and yes it’s a staple brunch dish. This on the other hand was truly delicious 😋. It was spectacular in all aspects. Not only was the dish marvellous 🤩, but the service was on another level. I was there on the 1st of May with a friend. The waitress was the kindest and most helpful I’ve encountered in Berlin. I will be back to try the other dishes. This place is a real gem 💎.

I always end up here after a walk in the field. I've been annoyed several times. Either the staff wasn't attentive, the wine was outrageously expensive or, as this time, only card payment was accepted. “You can go to the machine, it says outside that no card will be taken” Is that still contemporary? Only paying in cash always has a bad aftertaste, keyword tax office? By the way, there was nothing outside. You can find such a notice on the Internet. And if my girlfriend hadn't been able to trigger me, I probably would have had to wash up. I only had my cell phone with me and you can't get any money with it at the ATM. But this time the waiter was very friendly, it wasn't his fault and I didn't drink any wine, but I still won't go to Mama Kalo again.

The food is actually quite good, but this reduced balsamic sauce on every dish just doesn't work. She misses the actually good taste of the cheese spaetzle, tarte flambée, etc. The staff is nice, but we waited quite a long time for our food.

The food is very tasty, unfortunately the staff is completely overwhelmed. We had to change tables three times, used tables were only wiped down upon request, hot food and drinks were left waiting for minutes before they went out, generally everything took a very long time. It's a shame, the shop really has potential!

Mama Kalo's adorable waiter welcomed us with unforgettable kindness and sympathy. We loved the time spent brunching in this café which has French and multicultural vibes. Thank you for this magical moment, from the delicious cappuccino, to the music of Edith Piaf, to the exceptional croques. I hope to find this café again during my future escapades in Berlin.

We loved this place! Located on a nice spot near Tempelhof park. Very tasty with great combinations of flavour. Vegan options and nice atmosphere. We had a potato soup as a starter and for main we shared a Flammkuchen with pears and sweet toasted nuts and a Vegan Galette. Drinks and dessert were great too! Highly recommend :) Hope we visit you again soon!!

Heute beim bummeln aufs Flugfeld im Mama Kalo gefrühstückt. Toll, dass das bis 16.00 möglich ist ;) Das Personal war super aufmerksam und freundlich und das vegane Frühstück köstlich. Besonders das Rote Beete Hummus bleibt unvergesslich. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Wir sind zufällig auf das Restaurant gestoßen. Da wir vor kurzem Galette in der Bretagne gegessen haben wollten wir diese auch in Berlin testen. Wir müssen zugeben es war vergleichbar, sehr lecker! Das Personal war auch sehr freundlich. Wir haben nichts auszusetzen und kommen gerne wieder :)

Die Restaurants in der Nähe waren zu voll und dieses Restaurant haben wir durch Zufall entdeck, da wir die anderen Restaurants für zu voll gehalten hatten, haben wir entschieden hier zu essen und ich wünschte, dass wir uns lieber dagegen entschieden hätten. Das waren die schlechtesten Galettes die ich je in meinem Leben gegessen habe. Ich habe es sehr schwer runtergewürgt und die Sauce war so geschmacklos, dass es wiederum eklig geschmeckt hat. Tut mir leid, dass so zu schreiben, aber verschönern kann ich es nicht. Die Angestellten waren auch sehr komisch. Zu keinem Zeitpunkt wurde kommuniziert oder sichtbar dargestellt, dass nur Bar Zahlung möglich ist. Nachdem Verzehr und der Bekanntgabe, fragten wir, ob wir Geld abheben gehen könnten und sie bejahten es. Nachdem die Person weggegangen ist, haben wir unser Geld zusammen gezählt und dachten, wir hätten den vollständigen Betrag. Die Person meinte, dass 0,40€ (40 Cent) fehlten und daraufhin mussten wir eine Bank finden. Noch nie, egal in welcher Service Branche, habe ich so etwas erlebt. Falls mir Cents oder Euros gefällt haben, haben die Menschen es durchgehen lassen und ich habe trotzdem immer Leute in meinem Familien- oder Freundeskreis um Geld gebeten und es zurück gezahlt oder am nächsten Tag das Geld trotzdem hingebracht und überreicht, (da ich sonst ein schlechtes Gewissen hätte). Das war für mich eine extrem unangenehme Situation. Ich bin eine Person, die immer Trinkgeld gibt, selbst wenn es mir nicht schmeckt. Zum ersten Mal habe ich es nicht getan. Ich möchte es jetzt nicht verallgemeinern, aber Trinkgeld können sie annehmen, aber auf 0,40€ nicht verzichten? Ihr könnt alle gerne selbst entscheiden, ob ihr hier essen wollt oder nicht, aber ich persönlich würde es abraten.

Food is good, service is HORRIBLE. We set outside, after 15 minutes that no one came to us we had to specifically ask the waiter to bring is the menus. After another 15 minutes that no one came to take our order, we went inside and ask them to come outside. After we finished we wanted desert, and again we had to go inside to ask for it, because no one came outside to ask if we want anything else. After about 20 minutes of waiting for the desert we gave up, and went again inside to cancel it, because we were already in a hurry to another place

Great place to grab brunch. The service is very nice and portions are big. Location is also quaint and peaceful not too far from the airfield but far enough not to get any of its noise.

Ich hatte Galette mit roter Beete, das war leider super langweilig und trocken, die rote Beete war in Scheiben übereinander gelegt und halb roh ohne Würze, das Galette selber war zu trocken und knusprig und es gab quasi nichts saftiges, aufregendes, irgendwas an dem Gericht. Für, ich glaube, 12€ sehr enttäuschend. Der Flammkuchen meiner Schwester dagegen war extrem lecker! Bei den Galette wünscht man sich, Mama Kalo geht nochmal in die Experimentierküche und überlegt sich ein richtiges Rezept.

Den absolut lækreste mad vi har fået i Berlin. 4 ud af fem fik Pfannkuchen som var super lækker! En fik barbeque-ben, som jeg ikke smagte, men som skulle være lækre. Prisen er fornuftig, men hvis du er meget sulten vil jeg anbefale en forret eller dessert. Vi fik dog ingen af disse ved dette besøg, som ikke bliver det sidste. De to unge kvinder der kørte servering var super søde og smilende og havde stort overskud skønt travlheden.

Die Preise erschienen mit recht hoch. Am Ende gab es einen nicht wirklich nachvollziehbaren handschriftlichen Zettelbeleg. Alle waren nett und kinderfreundlich, aber ich fand es insgesamt zu teuer.

Hipper, schlichter Laden, interessante Bilder, Essen ok- kein Wow für die gelisteten Preise, Bad gewöhnugsbedürftig-halbes Altberliner Zimmer- ich vermisste die Badewanne.

They got one of two ordered meals wrong and we were offered to keep the "wrong" meal with no extra costs ... as we had no idea what it was we decided not to. This ended up in a meal for 2 being a meal for one then the other. No other offers of excuse were given. Food was bland and seemed to be made of poor quality ingredients.

I actually really love the food, I have been there many times, but the portions are very small and overpriced & I gave them feedback about it and the chef was incredibly unfriendly. I have never experienced such horrible customer service.

I had a Flammkuchen and fresh orange juice at four pm. The service was great, the food was well priced and really tasty, and it’s a very pleasant place to sit. I look forward to returning either for brunch or dinner.

Een vaste waarde als je in de buurt van Tempelhof bent. De beste Flammkuchen van Berlijn. Ook de kinderen vonden het lekker.

Ich hatte den Elsässer Flammkuchen und ich muss schon sagen das war verdammt lecker und nur zu empfehlen. Das Ambiente ist auch super schön und mitten im schillerkiez. Also alles in allem lohnt es sich einen Besuch dort abzustatten

Sehr leckeres Essen, auch die Cocktails sind gut. Gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Ein Stern Abzug, der kommt aber, wenn der Service beim nächsten Besuch besser ist. ;)

Leider war ich vom Besuch bei Mama Kalo sehr enttäuscht. Zunächst durften wir erst auf Nachfrage unsere Getränkebestellung aufgeben. Mit dem Essen kam dann auch die richtige Enttäuschung. Der Flammenkuchen war schwer genießbar, trocken, kalt und wenig liebevoll angerichtet. Die Rechnung durften wir dann noch on top selbst ausrechnen. Ich bin wirklich gefrustet in den Sonntag Abend gestartet - ein unschönes Ende, nach einem wundervollen Wochenende in Berlin. Schade.

Ambiente toll, Essen sehr gut (Suppe, Hauptgericht, Kuchen), Service sehr freundlich und alles kam sehr schnell und heiß auf den Teller. Und schöne Kunst an den Wänden. Mein Herz war hocherfreut. Ich komme sicher sehr gern wieder.

Wir waren am Samstag da und waren leider sehr enttäuscht. Unsere Getränkebestellung wurde erst auf Nachfrage aufgenommen. Insgesamt haben wir 50min auf unsere Getränke gewartet unter anderem auch auf zwei Flaschen Wasser . Hier hätten wir zumindestens eine Entschuldigung vom Servicepersonal erwartet. Welches davon abgesehen zwar freundlich, aber eben nicht aufmerksam war. Mein Essen wurde dann vergessen zu machen und anstatt meiner bestellten Dinkel Käsespätzle bekam ich die Rote Beete Spätzle. Um wenigstens mit meinen Freunden gemeinsam essen zu können, habe ich diese dann auch gegessen. Geschmacklich okay, aber leider war nur die äußere Schicht warm.

Ein bezaubender Abend in nonchalanter Umgebung: Das Mama Kalo liegt in einer genuin unverstellt-liebenswerten Neuköllner Seitenstraße. Wir schätzten am gestrigen Abend das inspirierende Ambiente des Lokals, den entspannt-aparten Style und das aufmerksame Personal. Die Galette und der Flammkuchen wurden flott serviert und waren wunderbar aromatisch und crispy zubereitet. Unser anschließender Spaziergang zum unmittelbar benachbarten Tempelhofer Feld vervollkommnete den Abend mit einem zauberhaft wechselvollen Licht- und Farbenspiel von Wiese, Wolken und Sonnenuntergang. Großartig!

I work in service so usually Im very understanding if things take a little longer. However the quality of the service was horrible. It wasnt busy at all and we got our menus after already being sat for 10 minutes, then ordered 2 beers and a vodka apple juice which took 30 mintues to arrive to our table (2 people of the floor and one behind the bar) this isnt acceptable on a not busy night. It also took an hour and fifteen mintues for our 3 "pizza's" to arrive in which one was burnt so badly it was inedible. This couldve been made better had the staff updated us on why things were taking longer or at least checked in with us. The cherry on top of this horrible experience was that when I went to the toilet I could see inside the kitchen, all the staff were on their phones when we knew that there were people still waiting for their food. I dont put the blame on the staff since service was trying their best but it was obvious that there is a serious lack in management and supervision. If thats sorted it e a nice place but until then dont waste your time.

The salad with avocado was really good. Apart from this, the service is extremely slow. Cash only (2022!!!), even if the prices are not so cheap.

Vorinformation: Über Tagesgeschäft, darf ich mich nicht äußern, da ich noch nicht zum Kaffe&Kuchen da war. Aber anhand der Fotos sehen die Kuchen schon lecker aus. Wir waren da vor paar Wochen zum Abendbrot. Auch an einem Freitagabend konnte man ohne Reservierung platz finden, was gut ist. Die Ambient drinnen ist sehr gut, einfach. Die MitarbeiterInnen waren auch sehr gut, freundlich und schnell. Jedoch das Essen war für uns leider eine Enttäuschung. Ich denke, es lag nicht an den Zutaten, sondern es war einfach unkompetent vorbereitet. Weder Flammkuchen, noch Käsespätzle mit Champigonon und Speck, noch Flammkuchen mit Galettenteigboden hat uns geschmeckt.

Durchschnittlich: Zander mit Tagliatelle recht fad und versalzen, Spätzle kalt aus der Küche und viel zu viel Schinkenanteil. Getränke und Nachtische gut, Bedienung nett und fix.

Leckerer Cappuccino, Haselnuss Schoko Tarte war ok. Haselnussteig hätte etwas saftiger sein können, Schokoschicht reichlich und intensiv.

Freundliche und schnelle Bedienung. Essen sehr gut, aber insgesamt lädt es nicht so sehr zum weiteren verweilen ein.

Der Flammkuchen war hervorragend. Der Service nett. Allerdings sind die Speisekarten so abgegriffen und unappetitlich, dass man sie kaum anfassen mag. Sowas geht gar nicht schon gar nicht in Zeiten von Corona.

Waren stets bemüht...schrecklicher Flammkuchen, aber netter Service..

Das Essen ist super, Preise fair. Leider musste man mit Jacke am Tisch sitzen, weil die Tür offen steht und es sehr kalt war. Trotz mehrfacher Bitten der Gäste, die Tür zu schließen, weil es kalt ist, wurde dem nicht nachgegangen. Der Kellner selbst fror anscheinend nicht, duftete dafür extrem nach Schweiß. Nur Barzahlung Corona-Maßnahmen werden ignoriert, man kommt ohne jeden Nachweis rein.
