Malakeh Restaurant in Berlin

We were at this restaurant yesterday around noon. It wasn't very busy. A staff member grumpily showed us to a table. No friendly hello or smile. Nothing. For the next 15 minutes, we were left to our own devices, without a menu or drinks. When the staff member finally deigned to come to our table, there was no apology, not a word of regret for the long wait. He wordlessly held out his phone with a QR code. We knew what it was for, of course. But a brief, friendly greeting ("Please scan the code. Then you'll receive our menu and can take your time choosing and ordering.") would have been appropriate. We felt unwelcome from the start. This is not what hospitality looks like. After a quick glance at the menu, we left. We spent our money at another restaurant where they were happy to have us as guests. We would have liked to try the food, as the restaurant has very good reviews. Looking at the other reviews, it seems our experience wasn't an isolated incident. We will advise our friends and family against visiting this restaurant.

I had reserved a table for three in advance. The mezze platter was nice, but overall the food was just okay. The meatballs were not very good, while the lamb was fine. Prices are slightly on the expensive side for the quality offered.

Too expensive for what we ate. There were three of us, and we ordered three appetizers and two tagines. Even though the waiter told us the tagine was for one person, we were still hungry. The tagine only comes with bread; couscous is ordered separately. We asked for another portion of bread, and instead of three, he brought two.

Excellent Syrian restaurant. The cuisine was exceptional, nothing to criticize: flavorful, authentic dishes of a very high standard. The service was equally remarkable, professional, and warm. I frequent many restaurants, and this one is definitely among the very best. Special mention for the kindness of the staff, who took the time to direct me to a nearby place to pray at the time of Dhuhr. Truly, well done and thank you.

After a reservation at a nearby restaurant fell through, the seven of us searched for a good place to eat (after all, my father was celebrating an anniversary!). Malakeh was already full, but the friendly team quickly opened their studio for us. Wow, that was a lifesaver! And in the end, we had a wonderful feast with delicious food and excellent service. Thank you, Malakeh!

This is now my top 5 restaurants in Berlin. The food was absolutely fantastic, nicely presented and simply delicious. The service is top notch and the athmosphere warm and cozy. We did not find place in the main restaurant and we ate in the nearby room. Everything was just perfect. Love it.

The food was tasty overall, however, we found the portions a bit expensive for around €20 each. Also, the menu offers very few vegetarian options, which is something to be aware of beforehand. The service was friendly and the location was pleasant. Overall, we would give it 3.5 stars ⭐️

From the moment we stepped in, we we’re met by the rudest waiter (glasses and tattoos). No “hello” or “welcome”. I followed the restaurants policy of cancelling a reservation at least 1,5 hour in advance, because we were unable to make it by 18.30. I booked a reservation for an hour later at 19.30 instead. He told me I had a table booked at 18.30, and I said no, and showed him my phone showing my booking for 19.30. He asked if I changed the booking and I said yes, and he angrily replied “that’s why”, and turned around immediately and led us to a table. He had the worst attitude, and we couldn’t understand where it was coming from. Totally fine, if something was wrong with their system, not being able to show my updated booking, but it didn’t warrant for such a bad treatment for the whole stay. There was no mistake on my part, as shown in the pictures with both the confirmation of the cancellation made in a timely manner, AND the confirmation of the 19.30 booking. The evening went on with an incredibly bad attitude from this particular waiter. We ordered yalanji, fattet makdous with meat and makloube with meat. The food was amazing, but we suspect they on purpose forgot our makloube, because we got everything else while my husband waited for 20 min. on his makloube. I had already almost finished my dish. Everyone who’s Arab knows that you have to eat a fatteh right away, or the dish turns cold and the bread, soggy. So much for enjoying our dinner together. The way the food was served was also unpleasant, the waiter passive aggressively slammed down our plates with food and turned around immediately, and left without a word. We didn’t feel welcome whatsoever, and it’s really a shame, that a Syrian restaurant is allowing such bad service. We we’re really looking forward to visiting this place, as I have Palestinian-Syrian roots and long for all the dishes my grandmother and mother used to make. Too bad the beautiful culture and food of my country, gets ruined by a bad atmosphere. To this particular waiter: think about how you treat people, not only when you’re working, but in general. This is not okay. Haram aleyko. Do better.

I had written a negative review about an incident at the restaurant because the food was cold, and the owner contacted me immediately and apologized for the mistake. His mere contact and concern are very positive indicators and demonstrate his excellent service and professionalism. He truly deserves 5 stars for his class and kind words.

I’ve found this hidden gem thanks to the advice of a friend and I feel very grateful. This genuine and cosy Syrian restaurant it’s open from breakfast to dinner. I’ve had an amazing lunch with mixed starters and a main dish called Kufta baltahini, which is beef meatballs in a delicious and creamy cheese sauce. Everything was perfect starting from the welcome, up to the Syrian coffee, with a delicious flavor of cardamom. I highly recommend this place if you come to visit Berlin. A special “bravo” to the beautiful lady you can see in one of my picture that cooks so well, she is the owner, together with her husband.

I was in Berlin for three days and went to this restaurant three times. Everything was excellent: the food was delicious, the service was quick, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere, with classical music by Fairouz and other Arabic musicians, combined with the flavorful food, created a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend it.

The best baba ghanoush far and wide, that much is safe to say. And the tender lamb deserves praise as well. If Potsdamer Straße weren't always worth a visit anyway, one would come here specifically for Malakeh.

Completely overrated. Some of the food was lukewarm, but it was then reheated in the microwave. Nothing special in terms of taste.

When you visited Malakeh, you felt like you were in Damascus. From the restaurant's decor to the delicacies she offers, everything reminds you of home. We always love going there, especially when you're longing for warmth and cordiality.

Food is super. They have the best hummus in Berlin. 4 stars and not 5 stars because the portion is kind of small compared to the plate price. Additionaly, they charged us for the extra bread, this is unacceptable in the middle eastern culture. In general, it is a highly recommended place. place.

Today was my first time at Malakeh Restaurant. The whole experience was like a hug 🤗 The lovely chef, so caring, so humble, she came to talk to us but she did the same with the other tables. It says a lot about her caring personality. The food was beyond amazing. With my friend we left absolutely amazed by everything and the service was just perfect. And by the way on the wall you have frames of very famous Syrian people. I recommend it 100% ❤️

It was a pretty disappointing experience. At 8:15 p.m. on a Saturday evening, it took me four attempts to find a dish that wasn't sold out on the already extensive menu, meaning I had to take what was left instead of what I wanted. I ordered two beers, one of which was really warm. The meze was good, but far too little for €20, as was the bread. When we wanted to order more bread, it was all gone, so we had to continue eating hummus, babaganoush, etc. without bread. We thought the main courses were okay, but nothing more. The ambiance isn't particularly cozy either; there's too much light and, although it wasn't full, it was far too loud. The service was friendly. The whole thing was definitely not worth the €70 we spent.

When we sat down in the restaurant and took a first look at the menu, we were a bit surprised by the high prices. €20 is quite a lot of money, especially compared to similar restaurants in the city. However, since the reviews were good, we thought it was worth a try... We were then, without asking, given a good-looking appetizer plate with some bread and hummus, and assumed that was why the main courses were so expensive. In the end, it turned out that the appetizer was a whopping €20. We don't think that's fair and are disappointed, especially because the food was actually delicious...

Every year I visit Berlin and this restaurant is one of the best Arabic restaurants in Berlin in all aspects: service, warm welcome and delicious food.

Wir hatten drei verschieden Gerichte und die Vorspeisenplatte für zwei. Was dann aufgetafelt wurde war geschmacklich vom Feinsten. Alles frisch zubereitet , in ansprechender Optik und gekonnt serviert. Geschmacklich war alles sehr lecker und die verwendeten Gewürze ließen einem schon mal von Urlaub träumen. Die Bedienung arbeitete gekonnt, ohne ein Wort zuviel, aber Fragen zur Zubereitung und dem Verzehr im Herkunftsland wurden sehr freundlich und präzise beantwortet. Wir kommen wieder

The food was absolutely not up to the mark for the price, way too overpriced. We ordered the appetizer menu, and two items were missing (we weren't even informed or asked about it), but we still had to pay the full price, which is ridiculous. The homemade drink, "Ayran," has nothing to do with Ayran; it's too liquid and tasteless (probably heavily diluted). In short: anyone who grew up with authentic Syrian food won't be satisfied with this.

I've never been more excited about a restaurant than Malakeh. The food was simply incredible - so full of flavor, so finely tuned, that I can hardly imagine eating anywhere else. A friendly and welcoming atmosphere from the moment we entered. Vegetarians and those who enjoy lamb-dishes are spoilt for choice with the menu here! We both had aubergine-based dishes which were so melt-in-the-mouth delicious and our shared starter platter offered many tasty dips and a fresh, beautifully layered salad bowl. Portions were very much on the ample side and we couldn’t manage to eat everything, but we were kindly given the option to take food away if we wanted. A really lovely restaurant!

We were there with my wife on my birthday. We arrived 5 minutes to break the Ramadan fast. Nevertheless, the food arrived on our table very quickly. One star for that! And the rest of the stars go to the restaurant for the very delicious food! I ordered Kufteh and have never eaten anything like it! The portion was great, the taste was unique and I enjoyed eating it. I will definitely go there again and try the other things too. Yes, the prices are a bit high compared to Sonnenallee, but the customers are much smaller and you can chat in peace. My wife's leg of lamb was cooked to perfection and the rice with it was very tasty. OK, I've already commented too much!! A MUST GO!! DON'T FORGET TO RESERVE!!

We went for dinner with a larger group. The service is quick and very friendly, ordering on the tablet at the table works great. The food itself is very, very tasty and the portions are sufficient. We can highly recommend the restaurant! ❗️One DISADVANTAGE: ONLY CASH PAYMENT is possible. For me, a real NO GO for a European capital!
