The food is truly delicious. The dumpling dishes are a bit small and could benefit from a little something extra, like mushrooms – or simply be a bit bigger. The pork tenderloin is exceptionally tasty, and with a small extra portion of sauce, which we received without any trouble, the Spätzle were perfect. You absolutely must try the desserts. Kaiserschmarrn in various styles; really good! The service is incredibly friendly – ​​the whole team makes a great impression. The location is reminiscent of a cozy "room at Grandma's," which we find really charming. We will definitely be back regularly! The games on the shelf are also a sweet touch – we love them!

A wonderful atmosphere, beautiful tableware, friendly service, and the food was absolutely delicious. We were so lucky to enjoy a second evening there during our week in Leipzig!

Very nice restaurant, it has a living room feel. Friendly owners, good service. However, the price-performance ratio is not satisfactory. I searched in vain for mushrooms with the two small dumplings. And it was cold. We won't be coming back. Sorry.

Tucked away in the back courtyard, a cozy little world of its own opens up. We had made an online reservation for 6:30 PM that same day – which was a good thing, because all the tables were either occupied or reserved. The menu is small but excellent, and we still had trouble deciding. We had country-bread bruschetta for starters – so incredibly delicious. The main courses would have been delicious too – if perhaps a bit small. But the Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes) fit in – it's very nice that they also offer it without raisins :) We had an all-around lovely evening, can only recommend it, and the prices are more than fair. Absolutely recommend it!

I sat down there last Sunday, the three of us wanted to eat something. The waitress didn't even greet us, and neither did the chef. We waited 10 minutes and left because no one came to us. We won't be coming again.

Even with new management and now serving South Tyrolean cuisine, MALA is still a gem in the east of Leipzig: cozy, delicious, and super friendly! The menu is small but delicious, and the Kaiserschmarrn is a real treat (although everything else is also delicious).

We happened upon Mala during opening hours, with its typical Leipzig beer garden atmosphere. The food was okay, and the staff was very friendly.

Great little place in Leipzig, visited three times. Always fast and courteous service, and the food is delicious. Vegan options are not just a side issue, regional ingredients and drinks are used, and all inexpensive (for what they are). Portion sizes can be easily adjusted with extra dumplings or side orders.

Yes, for those who like things unconventional and rustic, it's the perfect place to eat and drink casually with friends or family in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was very friendly. They even had free tap water – where else do you find that? The cold cuts platter wasn't all that impressive, but the three dumplings were delicious and homemade. The fresh roasted vegetables were fantastic and more than reasonably priced. The restrooms were fine, equipped with all the necessary toiletries. Definitely recommended.

This was our fourth or fifth visit since the change of ownership. We had made a reservation for two people in advance. This proved to be a very good decision for the 6:30 pm time slot, as the previous restaurant had experienced high demand on weekdays and weekends, which continues to this day. We were seated outside, but the reservation confirmation didn't explicitly state that reservations were only for the beer garden. The only indication was on the blackboard that beer garden rules applied outside, meaning that all orders (drinks and food) had to be placed and paid for immediately. Also, unusually for the restaurant's indoor seating, a deposit was charged for glassware. I could take the drinks with me right away, and the food would be served at the table very quickly. The meal, like our previous visits, was an absolutely fantastic experience. The dumplings were completely reimagined – applause for that! The outdoor service concept needs rethinking, as groups of 6-8 people have to bring a mid-three-figure sum, or each person has to pay individually. We'll be back, but next time we'll opt for table service.

The best Austrian, with the tastiest dumplings in all of Germany! A wonderful alternative location, with even more wonderful staff at even fairer prices. Mega delicious schnapps and fine beer. Even the light is a dream!

A nice extra: free water in 2 carafes was on the table and was refilled in between without being asked. The atmosphere was also very cozy, so we all felt comfortable. A really great restaurant – we would love to come back!

We spent a wonderful evening at MALA. From the aperitif with non-alcoholic alternatives to the snack platter with farmhouse bread and several cheeses to the main course with three dumplings, we were delighted. The very friendly service then persuaded us to try some delicious desserts, along with a great espresso. Overall, a cozy atmosphere and a pleasant clientele. The price-performance ratio was right. It was fully booked on Saturday evening, so unfortunately it was a bit noisy, but still bearable. We're excited to see what the courtyard feels like in the summer. We'll definitely be back.

Wow. Just wow. Mala is not just a restaurant - it is a culinary revelation, a declaration of love for good taste, a homage to the fine art of enjoyment! As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel that there is magic in the air. A warm, stylish atmosphere, service that is not only attentive but almost clairvoyant - and then comes the food. My taste buds will never forget this experience! It started with caramelized goat cheese, which was so perfect that I momentarily lost track of time. The antipasti – a celebration of flavors – and the balsamic reduction? A divine contrast of sweetness and acidity that left me speechless. Then the Schlutzkrapfen – tender pastries filled with a ricotta-spinach symphony, covered in sage nut butter that melted in your mouth. Plus the crunchy coleslaw, which provided the perfect freshness. A dish that makes you happy. And then, the crowning finale: Kaiserschmarrn! Airy, buttery, just the right amount of sweetness – a dessert that would have made the Austrian Emperor himself cry with joy. The whole thing was accompanied by an excellent La Trigi white wine, which was fruity, elegant and harmonious and took everything to an even higher level. Conclusion? If you haven't been to Mala yet, you haven't really tasted life yet! I'll be back. Again and again. 11/10 points!

The restaurant's expectations of itself differ from reality. The food was ok to good. The wine pairing didn't go well with the food.

The only thing that really impressed me in terms of taste was the appetizer. I have never paid so much money for a plate of buckwheat with parsley. But it was very nicely prepared. The service left a lot to be desired (wrong choice of cutlery, no tablecloth, wrong drinks brought twice, orders forgotten, etc., different cups) When it comes to prices, everything should be right and really chic. It all gives a bit of a feeling of being intentional and not being able to do it.

Food is interesting in parts and you can feel that they are ambitious to create a menu that sounds appealing. Unfortunately, the combination of elements on the plate and the execution itself have some flaws, so you end with an ok experience. The price tag, however, is quite high for this. The service was quick and seemed to know what they are doing.

Quite tasty, but 10 euros for a soup or 22 euros for some mashed potatoes with a slice of tomato is a lot. Roasted fennel was served burnt black.

The Mala restaurant in Leipzig is a true gem! This little oasis never ceases to amaze us. The vegetarian dishes are absolutely unique and bear the chef's creative signature - far from the mainstream and full of surprises. Added to this is the exceptionally friendly and familiar service, which makes your visit a special experience every time. For us, Mala is an absolute must when we are in Leipzig. The food is a taste explosion every time! This is food at the highest level of taste. Prices are therefore completely reasonable. Especially when you consider that the ingredients all come from local suppliers and farmers and are seasonal! The staff knows what they are doing - each course is explained to you and is perfectly matched with the recommended wines and cocktails. You can tell the expertise of the employees!

Too expensive for such an atmosphere. It says a lot about the manager that even the toilet doesn't flush. Even with such an attentive kitchen staff, I unfortunately can't give it more than one star.

It's OK, you can do it. Food is actually a little less. I've been there a few times, but I can never really satisfy my hunger there. I always order another appetizer afterwards. So unfortunately I have to agree with the other comments. There really isn't much on your plate for what you pay. In terms of taste, I was really happy with some of it. Sometimes it was so-so. I found the toilets really terrible. You definitely have to go there again. The changing table was a disaster. Then you can actually leave it alone and go somewhere else if possible.

It was nice and you can sit nicely in the courtyard. Unfortunately, the main courses are very expensive at 22 euros and won't really fill you up. The ingredients are mostly regional, which is great. The cooking was creative, but the taste wasn't that convincing as it was rather bland. Fresh herbs and spices would have helped.

The sign with the inscription “MALA” seems almost inconspicuous when you walk through Schulze-Delitzsch-Straße. If you enter you will find yourself in a backyard where the MALA is. The atmosphere there is rustic and slightly alternative, which tempts visitors to sit down and breathe in this atmosphere. The menu is - and this is very commendable - regional and seasonal. The menu, which predominantly contains vegan dishes, shows who MALA's partners are. This transparency is commendable given the current discussion about sustainability and MALA is taking a pioneering role in this regard. You can choose from the menu three starters and/or three desserts at EUR 10 each and four main courses at EUR 22 each. Depending on the offer, there is also another daily offer for EUR 22. We recommend the wines from the menu, which cost EUR 7.20 per glass; Cost around EUR 28 per bottle. The presentation and quality of the food justify these prices. The service is also good and courteous. MALA is an absolute recommendation if you want to enjoy regional and seasonal cuisine in Leipzig away from the well-known hotspots.

We only found the Mala because it was mentioned in a magazine years ago. Now finally tried it out. Definitely go here. Totally inconspicuous and somewhat remote, we would never have discovered it that way. Even the telephone contact was super nice. The welcome was warm, the backyard was incredibly cozy and the interior was great too. The food is top and the price-performance ratio is more than fair. Thank you for this wonderful evening. We will definitely come back and can only warmly recommend you. Even if it means a detour. What I also really liked was the layout of the menu.

We thought it was really nice and probably sat here for a good 2 hours. I would say a bit of a hidden location but also a chilled backyard vibe. Food was great. Had the vegan white sausage, kimchi grilled cheese sandwich and the egg salad (it could be that it was even vegan). We all had spaghetti to drink (beer, lemon, aperol), which I've never seen before but can recommend in full. Friendly service. I can't quite get what we paid but I remember it as ok. Come back safely.

I've eaten at Mala twice in the last few months and to be honest I'm not entirely convinced. The card was creative and looked promising. Some of the food tasted good but some of it was very bland (chickpea pasta). I certainly understand that the prices are somewhat higher for high-quality regional ingredients. However, some of the prices here are completely incomprehensible to me. Over 5 euros for a few peanuts is simply an announcement. Although the main courses are moderately celebrated as 'haute cuisine', I don't find them to be as special in terms of taste as they are advertised by the staff and the high prices. In addition, the first time we had to wait about 2 hours for our food. I also understand that it was a huge stress for one waitress to serve so many guests at the same time. However, it is a strange feeling when you pay so much money and then are not satisfied with several points. There are also places like Café Hackel where delicious food is cooked with great ingredients at really fair prices. For me, Pekar is also an example of regional organic ingredients at fair prices. All in all: - high prices (sometimes a bit justified/sometimes not) - some good food - sometimes very long waiting times

Nice ambience, service is slow but good. The food looks fancy, but that's about it. Quite expensive for what you get. "Roasted" broccoli that was completely fallen apart and not seasoned and 3 potatoes with some sauce for 20 euros.

Who would have thought that such a magical and exquisite restaurant would be located in the backyard of a residential area. The service was very attentive and personal, and the atmosphere was very cozy. All dishes were explained and were really particularly delicious. So if you want to enjoy top vegetarian cuisine, head to Mala in Leipzig.

A big surprise for us! The oasis of gastronomy is somewhat hidden in the east of Leipzig. Anyone who finds the way will be rewarded with a lot of warmth and absolutely fantastic cuisine. We ordered various 3- and 4-course combinations with accompanying drinks (with/without alcohol). Every course was a pleasure and the non-alcoholic accompaniment in particular had a number of surprises in store. With the 4-course meal, the cheese platter was almost too much. Feels a bit like star cuisine but very relaxed. The portions were the perfect size. We've had enough. Mala has good vibes in terms of ambience. It is a place where you would take your date or a lover for a nice dinner and enjoy the conversations along with some quality wine. Food is quite tasty, my meal lacked toasted nuts or breadcrumbs for some crunch. I would visit Mala again, mostly for the ambience.

Wunderbarer Ort, an dem man einfach sitzen bleiben will. Die Frühstückskarte wurde leider stark ausgedünnt. Von selbstgemachter Marmelade und Aufstrich, wie noch zuvor erlebt, leider keine Spur. Die Karte sollte dringend nochmal angepasst werden..eine Käsesorte und etwas mehr Obst auf der Käseplatte wäre auch nicht verkehrt.Dennoch war unser Frühstück sehr schön angerichtet und hat geschmeckt. Die Bedienung war sehr zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Summasummarum immernoch sehr empfehlenswert, wenngleich nicht preiswert. Aber einer der wenigen sich abhebenden Läden um die Eisenbahnstrasse!

Ich fand' s toll. Regionale aber außergewöhnliche Küche. Sehr lecker. Viele vegane und vegetarische Angebote. Gemütlich.

Volle Hochachtung für das kreative und handwerkliche Kochen. Im Allgemeinen hat der Laden ein tolles Konzept. Komplettes Verständnis für generell etwas höhere Preise aufgrund hochwertiger Zutaten etc. Aber: 12,50 für eine kleine Schüssel Gemüseeintopf ist dann doch ein Preis, wo ich mich frage wie er zustande kommt. Hinzu kommt der, dass der Service zwar sehr freundlich ist, aber auch nicht besonders aufmerksam. Beim vorletzten Besuch wurde uns 10 Minuten nachdem wir bestellten, gesagt das Gericht sei aus. Am Ende sollten wir aber trotzdem dafür bezahlen. Beim letzten Besuch warteten wir 20 Minuten auf unseren Eintopf, der dann lauwarm ankam. Wohlbemerkt das einzige Gericht zu der Uhrzeit. Die Getränke (Bier & Wein) kamen nach dem Essen & nach etwas Brot zur Suppe musste extra nochmal gefragt werden...

Wenn ich ein Wort aussuchen müsste, um dieses Restaurant zu beschreiben, dann wäre es "ausgesucht", denn das ist alles hier - die Zutaten sind regional und saisonal, die Karte setzt nicht auf Masse, sondern auf hervorragende, kreative und stimmige Kompositionen, man kann den Köchinnen/Köchen quasi über die Schulter schauen, der Service ist professionell und trotzdem herzlich und das Ambiente bewegt sich geschickt zwischen gemütlich und chic. Im sonst so rauen Leipziger Osten wirklich etwas besonderes!!!

Ein außergewöhnlich tolles Restaurant. Sehr gemütlich und toll rustikal eingerichtet. Die Bedienung (und gleichzeitig der Betreiber) war sehr freundlich und hat uns jedes Gericht erklärt. Ich würde immer wieder hinkommen, wenn ich nochmal in Leipzig wäre. Das Qualität und Kreativität des Essens brauche ich gar nicht zu unterstreichen, da sprechen die Bilder für sich!
