Restaurant El Torro in Leipzig

We were guests with a group of 7 people. We made easy reservations online in advance. We were probably lucky with the time we had and were able to give up everything in peace and got everything in a great time frame. Without exception, the dishes were all beautifully designed and presented on the plates. None of us had anything to complain about in terms of taste. Everyone was thrilled! The amount was just right. We were thrilled. I haven't eaten so well in a long time!!! We'll be back! P.s. The pictures are just two of the many dishes on the menu ;)

The food was really delicious, the Asado crispy and the Tacos delicious.

As a Mexican, I have to say I love the atmosphere, which makes you feel like you're in the north of my country. The dishes are deliciously interpreted and offer a lot of variety. Chilaquiles with the German twist are among my favorites. Every time I visit this restaurant, they surprise me with their spices. The very friendly service and attention to detail make me feel very comfortable.

We were more than satisfied with our visit. Very friendly staff, we had stated that we were bringing a birthday child with us and our table was beautifully prepared and there was also a "Happy Birthday" lettering above the birthday child's seat. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. The food was rich and delicious. Cocktails and drinks were brought quickly. The only thing we regret is that today was the first time we managed to eat here after all these years 😅. So close and never seen before. Our visit will not be the last. We would be happy to come back and recommend it to others.

We had dinner in the restaurant in the evening and had previously reserved a table online after discovering the restaurant among the best steakhouses in the city. When we got there we were a bit put off by the rustic and somewhat outdated atmosphere. The waitress welcomed us very warmly. We chose the nachos as a starter, which were very tasty and flavorful. The dips were also very good. For the main course I wanted the 400g. Trying steak and my companion decided on something with chicken. After a long wait of around 45 minutes (the restaurant otherwise only had 8 other guests) our food arrived. Problem, I got the grill plate for two people instead of the steak. The waitress noticed it quickly and asked me about it herself, but since I didn't want to put 1.5 kg of meat back in the trash, I kept the plate. She also said it wasn't significantly expensive. Well, for me personally, 22€ more is significantly more expensive for a dish that costs 38€. Nothing more was said about it, no compensation or even a discount was received. All of this left a bad aftertaste, but it didn't get any better. The fillet on the platter was very good and medium rare, as were the potato wedges, which were also very tasty. But that's where the praise ends, the rest was uninspired and my companion's chicken didn't really taste good either. All in all, I have to agree with the other negative reviews here, this was certainly a good restaurant whose best years were unfortunately a long time ago. Unfortunately we won't be visiting the restaurant again in the future.

Unfortunately disappointing. We wanted to have a nice meal for Valentine's Day. Positive: the tables were beautifully decorated and the service staff were very friendly. Negative: the food was disappointing :-( We ordered the grill platter for 2 people, the Argentinian fillet extra medium rare and the rump steak medium. The cooking levels are explained separately on the menu and we assumed that the cook knew his stuff and had an idea of ​​what he was doing. Unfortunately everything was well done and my beef fillet medium rare (the one piece) I could have killed someone with it, it was fried so tightly. The rest of the meat was also very dry and fried so hot/black. There were no grilled vegetables, apart from 2 slices of zucchini and peppers on the chicken skewer. It was just a mountain full of meat without any love. The potatoes were also not seasoned. After waiting an hour for the food, we didn't complain because we were hungry. We made the best of it but it's still a shame!

We wanted to have a nice evening for the three of us, we had also ordered and we were warmly welcomed. The space wasn't exactly nice - a 4 man table in the corner with little space! Now to eat me and my wife a meat platter for 2 people it wasn't worth the money. The sticks were tough, the fillet wasn't cooked through. And what was supposed to be grilled vegetables were skewers with poultry and various vegetables. So overall it wasn't recommended. We won't be coming back.

We ordered well in advance because we wanted to have all you can eat ribs with friends, but we were all disappointed. There were still 3 tables occupied and we waited a long time for drinks and food. There was a small plate to accompany the ribs, which were served on a platter for two people. The sauce was watery, as if it had been diluted, and tasted like nothing. One of the group ate a la carte. Her baked potato was lukewarm and then had cold sour cream on it. We were looking forward to it and were all very disappointed!

Wir haben lange vorher bestellt, weil wir mit Freunden Rippchen all you cab eat essen wollten, aber wir waren alle enttäuscht. Es waren nochb3 Tische besetzt und wir haben auf Getränke und Essen sehr lange gewartet. Eine hat a la Carte gegessen und die Foliekartoffel war lauwarm und dann kalter Schmand drauf. Wir haben uns darauf gefreut und waren alle sehr enttäuscht!

Hello, we had dinner in the restaurant last night and unfortunately we were guided by the actually good rating. On the positive side, the waitress was very nice and the portions were very generous and the plate was well prepared. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing, all the dips tasted watery, as if they had been diluted, and the salad also didn't taste like anything. Even my ribs, which were the reason we went there, weren't good, even with the watery barbecue sauce. I won't talk any further about the ambience in the restaurant and the very outdated toilets. I don't want to offend anyone, but perhaps the operator should think of a new concept. Unfortunately, it is not recommended.

I love spending my evening there. Early reservations are recommended as it is very busy. I would give the food 10 stars because the quality is always fresh.

Just miserable! Seldom eaten so badly! I had a grill platter for over €30, which consisted of rump steak (completely tough and inedible), ribs (dry and with silver skin), fillet (which wasn't good), two chicken wings (really very good), two drumsticks (terrible) and a skewer of meat (dry). .. My girlfriend had enchilada polo (chicken) on rice. Everything was completely unseasoned and simply loveless! It's a complete mystery where the good reviews come from! The service was super nice! The price is an absolute disgrace!

Very nice staff, attentive and accommodating. We had my son's birthday as an occasion. Our table was even decorated a bit and there was a Happy Birthday garland hanging on the table. Very sweet! Thanks for that! The food was very good. The large portion of ribs is huge and very tender. All in all, highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.

Finally found time again to enjoy the extensive food and the unique service at elTorro, which leaves nothing to be desired. We have to do it more often. Always worth a visit!!!

Great food, good service, ambience could be improved. Nice selection of dishes and drinks. Unfortunately not quite as clean as you would like. Parking is also difficult to find, but certainly not a problem with the tram. In any case, spare ribs are recommended 😋.

I don't want to say anything bad, but I was bitterly disappointed with everything. The outdoor area was very dirty from the trees around it. Zero flair. Decided to eat inside. It was very dark. Think that the place is past its best. A little color goes a long way. We ordered a meat platter for 2. The anticipation was great. What can I say, it looked good but in my opinion it didn't taste good. Ribs totally dry. Meat skewer was the same. The wings were very dark. Steaks were okay. The cocktail was more warm than cold. Conclusion: we tried it and won't be back.

Frozen goods, terrible value for money, poor service There would have been enough time for the employees to pick up a rag to clean something (e.g. the toilet door). Everything inside just sticks (kitchen fumes!) Everything smells like old chip fat. The dishes on the menu are good, but what and how it comes out of the kitchen is unfortunately not nice.

Highly recommended! Huge portions, very very tasty. The barbecue sauce for the ribs (which were huge and lots of them) was to die for and the hot sauces did the rest for us. Gladly again. The beer could have been colder and faster. But that didn't spoil our successful evening. Thanks!

I got to know it as a delivery service during Corona times and today, after visiting several restaurants, I have to say the service is always very good and we love the ribs and fajita corizo, as well as the Jarritos limos. We always come back!

We were there with a group of 10 and were greeted straight away when we made our reservation. We were given the menu and were able to choose typical Mexican dishes from a clear menu. The nachos as a starter were really good with the dips. The salsa had a pleasant spiciness. With 10 people, it took a while for the food to be ready, but we were able to start together. The portions were really big and good. “We can’t do small.” was a quote from a friendly employee who took good care of our needs. The drinks also left nothing to be desired and we didn't end up with a fall on the bill. Cheap and great quality, friendly staff, humor is also present and a nice atmosphere. It wasn't the last time we were there. Recommended for every occasion in Leipzig. Reservations should be made early if the number of people is larger. ;)

Great service, very attentive and not too intrusive. Food was great, very tasty and cooked to perfection for me. The potatoes were absolutely amazing. Two people had the grill plate, and three of them would easily have been fed up. Even if the restaurant is a bit inconspicuous from the outside, I can highly recommend it.

Sehr große Portionen, sehr lecker, nette Bedienung und faire Preise. Gern wieder. Zeit mitbringen, Essen könnte etwas dauern.

Das Essen war sehr gut und ausreichend. Der Reis ist etwas trocken, aber gleicht die Schärfe aus. Der Service ist super nett und man fühlt sich willkommen. Das Ambiente war gut. Bei uns war es relativ leer, deswegen war es recht leise. Aber die Musik und das Licht macht es sehr entspannend.

Wir hatten leider nicht bestellt für den Montag den 30.10.2023. Es wurde aber für uns für 5 Personen möglich gemacht. Und deshalb möchten wir uns bei Ihnen und Ihrem Team nochmals recht herzlich bedanken. Das Essen war einfach super und lecker. Wir kommen wieder.

Mein Mann und ich sind sehr enttäuscht. Wir hatten nach den ganzen hervorragenden Bewertungen einfach mehr erwartet. Das Grillgemüse bestand hauptsächlich aus ein bisschen Mais und der Beilagensalat war 1 Blatt-Salat, eine Scheibe Salatgurke und ein bisschen Tomate. (Dressing) Sein Steak war nicht Medium, sondern noch sehr blutig. Die Wartezeiten waren für unser Empfinden sehr lang. Leider ohne zwischendurch mal an den Tisch zu kommen und zu fragen, ob wir noch etwas trinken möchten. Darüber hätten wir wirklich hinweggesehen, wenn dann nicht der Super-GAU passiert wäre. Wir wollten noch Nachtisch bestellen. Uns wurde mitgeteilt, dass dies über eine Stunde dauern würde, da die Hauptgerichte erstmal rausmüssten. Das habe ich wirklich noch nie erlebt. Egal wo wir waren, egal wie voll es war, wir haben immer unseren Nachtisch bekommen. Einmal und nie wieder! Nachtrag: Auf Wunsch des Betreibers den Eintrag bezüglich der Wartezeit und dem Fettrand korrigiert

Schönes gemütliches Mexikanisches-Restaurant. Das Essen war lecker und ie Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Wir hatten an einem Freitag für 19:00 Uhr einen Tisch für 8 Personen reserviert. Leider mussten wir über 1h auf unser Essen warten, trotz mehrfachem Nachfragen und bei überschaubarer Gästezahl. Das Essen selbst war zwar sehr reichhaltig, aber kein kulinarisches Highlight - vor allem die typische mexikanische Schärfe in extra als "scharf" ausgewiesenen Gerichten fehlte völlig. Auch das erwartete mexikanische "Feeling" in entsprechend schönem Ambiente gepaart mit stimmungsvoller landestypischer Musik, dass uns die lange Wartezeit hätte versüßen können, vermissten wir. Wirklich schade, aber nach dem Besuch des Restaurants waren wir uns alle einig: wenn wir das nächste Mal Lust auf mexikanische Küche haben und einen schönen Abend mit Freunden verbringen möchten, werden wir NICHT ins El Torro gehen.

Gemütliches hundefreundliches Restaurant. Der Service war kompetent und freundlich. Auf Nachfrage von glutenfreier Kost wurden wir ausführlich aufgeklärt und es gab reichlich Angebote. Das Essen war sehr lecker und im Preis-Leistungsverhältnis eine riesige Portion zu angenehmen Preisen. Auch das tschechische Bier kann man sehr empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir wollten mal wieder ein paar Rippchen essen und haben hier dann gesehen das es donnerstags all you can eat gibt was ich vergessen habe das man das beim reservieren dazusagen muss 😀 also gabs keine Rippchen sondern einen Teller mit allen Sorten an Fleisch für 2 Personen und der war echt der Hammer 😍 wir haben ihn natürlich nicht geschafft es war einfach zu viel aber es war echt Mega gut! Das Personal war auch sehr freundlich!

Wir hatten Hochzeitstag und wollten essen gehen ,ohne Anmeldung,einfach so und uns treiben lassen. Bei El Torro hatten wir eine Punktlandung erzielt. Einfach rein und hinsetzen und bestellen,mit der Bezeichnung der Gerichte kämpften wir etwas, etwas Wartezeit,völlig moderat,und dann ein unfassbares Essen bekommen. Lecker ,frisch,hübsch angerichtet, gut etwas viel. Wunschlos glücklich wieder nach Hause gefahren. Danke!

Innen ein uriges Ambiente was uns sehr gefallen hat. Karte hat reichlich Auswahl und das Essen schmeckt wirklich absolut klasse. Ist vom Geschmack her mal was anderes und sollte probiert werden. Portionen sind wirklich gigantisch, der Preis ist also gerechtfertigt.

Sehr nette Bedienung, das Essen sehr reichlich und lecker. Die Salate sind frisch. Die Karte ist übersichtlich gestaltet und auch gut erklärt. Mein persönliches Highlight sind die mexikanischen Limonaden. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Kleine Gastronomie mit Freisitz freundliche Bedienung (auch mit Zahnschmerzen),Portionen mehr als genügend, Beratung bei Unwissenheit inklusive[schmunzel]. Ich kann die Sparribs mit der echt geili Barbecue Soße nur empfehlen. Übrigens ich musste mir den Rest einpacken lassen nicht geschafft soetwas gab es noch nie. Preislich ist es erschwinglich. Die Speicherkarte enthält so einige andere klangvolle Gerichte welche noch zwingend probiert werden. Zu zweit haben wir für 2 Essen und 3 Bier 45Euro inklusive Trinkgeld bezahlt.

Wir kamen ohne Reservierung unter der Woche mit 2 Sehbehinderten und einem Blindenführhund und wurden herzlich willkommen geheißen. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam. Es wurde gleich Wasser für den Hund angeboten und auf die Beeinträchtigung der Gäste eingegangen. Das Essen war, wie angekündigt, sehr reichlich und sehr lecker. Vielen Dank für die freundliche Bewirtung. Wir haben sehr wohl gefühlt.

Wir sind nun schon das zweite mal hier gewesen. Das Essen war beide male super lecker und auch die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Allgemein ist es eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre und es passt einfach alles zusammen. Die 45min Autofahrt nehmen wir immer wieder gerne in kauf um uns hier verwöhnen zulassen. Macht weiter so!!!!!!

Das Essen ist absolut lecker und die Bedienung war auch sehr freundlich. Die Fleischplatten für zwei sind nicht zu schaffen. Lediglich der Straßenlärm trübte das Gesamtbild.

Wir kommen immer wieder gerne hierher. Das Essen ist super, die Bedienung ist immer freundlich und gut drauf. Wir fühlen uns gut aufgehoben und auf unsere Wünsche wird eingegangen. Vor allem das Hüftsteak und die Grillplatte sind absolute Empfehlungen und jedesmal einwandfrei zubereitet. Insbesondere für das Steak gehen wir in kein anderes Restaurant mehr! Tolles Team, man merkt, dass hier mit Leidenschaft gearbeitet und gekocht wird.

Die Location könnte schöner sein, der Service und das Essen waren aber sehr gut und ich würde nochmal wieder kommen.

Im El Torro wird man nie enttäuscht. Gutes Essen, freundliche Bedienung, ungezwungenes Ambiente. Sonderwünsche und Änderungen sind kein Problem, natürlich im Rahmen des Möglichen. Außerdem ist das El Torro ein privat geführter Laden. Allein das ist ein Grund ihn zu unterstützen.

Das Essen ist super lecker und viel, wer es nicht schafft bekommt es auch eingepackt zum mitnehmen! Das Lokal ist gemütlich und das Personal immer gut drauf. Ein Tipp: Die Desserts sind der Hammer!

Waren schon mehrfach mit Freunden hier, es ist immer wieder ein Erlebnis. Das Lokal ist sehr gemütlich, das Personal ist immer gut drauf und immer für ein Spaß zu haben. Die Menüs sind SUPER lecker, mega große Portion und die Nachspeise muss man unbedingt probieren. EIN DICKES LOB 👍😊, macht weiter so.

Die durchmischten Bewertungen hatten uns zweifeln lassen. Nun hatten wir es doch geschafft ins El Torro zu gehen und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Die Bedienung war zuvorkommend und gab die richtigen Tipps zur Bestellung. Der Salat mit Mango und Hähnchen war wirklich gut, den hatten wir uns als Vorspeise geteilt. Als Hauptspeisen wählten wir Faíta Classíc corteza und Quesadíllas Tres Amígos. Alles in allem gute Speisenqualität, große Portionen und ein gutes Preisverhältnis. Fazit: in Leipzig-Schönefeld ist gutes Essen möglich.

Das Essen war richtig gut, und sehr reichlich. Wir wurden sogar darauf aufmerksam gemacht das wir vielleicht zu viel bestellt haben :) Also haben wir ein Gericht weggelassen. Naja was soll ich sagen die sehr nette Bedienung hatte recht, wir mussten sogar noch etwas einpacken lassen. Wir waren richtig satt und es har wunderbar geschmeckt.
