Great ambience. Fast, friendly and very attentive service even though it was very busy. The food was delicious. We ate pork cheeks and half a grilled pork knuckle. Highly recommended.

The journey is definitely worth it. Quaint restaurant, very tasty food and very nice service. You definitely have to try the traditional drink.

Our European Beer tour guide (from US) bought us here for our dinner and that was a great choice! But only bad things about this place is the waiter of waitresses doesn’t speak much of English, this is really authentic local German restaurant! If you found this place on the Google Maps, you have to come, but you have to be patient here with the slow service to receive your meals. This is not the place for a quick bite! We really enjoyed the beer and food we ordered. If God permits us to visit Leipzig again, we will love to have another meal here!

We have eaten here many times and the food (various dishes) has always been tasty and plentiful. The atmosphere in the beer garden was also very cozy, the waiters were very friendly.

I have already been to this excellent restaurant several times and I will definitely come again. A visit to Leipzig became unthinkable for me without visiting Ohne Bedenken. Everything is at an excellent level, the ambiance and the service and the food and above all the beer. I look forward to coming again.

Always very friendly, very tasty food and beer in a cozy atmosphere

Rustic, very cozy tavern in which numerous, lovingly compiled contemporary witnesses of history in the form of old advertising, paintings and furniture can be marveled at and admired alongside very tasty, home-brewed beer specialties and excellent home-made, home-style Saxon cuisine. The service is warm and committed.

You can easily reach this rustic restaurant in the Gohlis district with tram 12. A cozy restaurant awaited us, offering no-frills food and drinks that tasted very good and were reasonably priced. Unfortunately we couldn't find any more space in the guest room, but the club room was also very attractive. A reservation on the weekend is highly recommended. Since our visit took place in winter, we were unfortunately unable to test the beer garden.

Very friendly service and very good cuisine. The beer is award-winning. I drank the Kellerbier, a light beer with a slightly sweet and malty note. The Gosenschenke is highly recommended!

We enjoyed good home cooking in the rustic dining room. The food and the gose varieties were delicious. The service was entertaining, courteous, super nice. This is the second time we've been to the Gosenschenke and we'll be back to use the beer garden (also good for hot drinks in winter).

We didn't have a reservation and they immediately thought about how they could accommodate us. We were lucky that we were given a place in the club room after consultation with the men's choir rehearsing there. It was a very, very nice evening and with the world's best Gose, the great food selection and the very friendly service, it was an unforgettable experience! We will definitely plan to visit you again on our next visit to Leipzig!

Unfortunately the kitchen wasn't really up to scratch. Duck breast not crispy, red cabbage not warm, any sauce. Sitting in the next room in the basement isn't particularly nice either. No comparison to the restaurant upstairs. The waiter was absolutely on the ball and very personable. Overall, still rather mixed.

We enjoyed going to the Gosenschenke when Mr. Goldhahn still ran it. How should I put it, it's not easy to run a restaurant of this quality for years. In any case, another very nice evening with friends, thanks to the ambience, the delicious food and of course the beer. It was also really fun with Johannes. We'll definitely be back. You do it too.

Always worth a visit, whether it's a restaurant or a beer garden...depending on your mood

Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Gosenschenke. My father is a chef (he also did food), and he says that both the schnitzel and the Leipziger Spatz (mini knuckle) are/were frozen. The sauce wasn't convincing either, way too sweet and probably frozen. To charge 18-25€ for this is a disgrace. I can't say anything nice about the historical part of the Gosenschenke. My mother had fish, which was the best, even if it tasted a bit bland. The service itself was ok, the food came relatively quickly. Regarding the ambience, you can say that it was a bit squashed in the outdoor seating area, but otherwise it was fine. So I probably won't eat there again. Too bad.

€5 for a glass of tap water at 34 degrees, others offer it for free. Card payment was also not possible, many greetings to the tax office 😉.

Really great location, traditional, rustic, cozy, you immediately feel at home. In my opinion, the Gose is the best in Leipzig, there are many variations with different syrups or liqueurs, as well as very tasty Edelgose. The food is traditional home-style German cuisine, everything tastes very good, but unfortunately you are not very flexible with special requests, and the service could also be a little faster, although to be fair it is always very busy there, so that The relatively few service staff certainly work at the limit, everyone is friendly and really tries hard. All in all, highly recommended, we will definitely come back 🙂👍

Nette ,freundliche, aufmerksame Bedienung. Die Speisekarte und Getränke waren typisch Biergartenmäßig absolut lecker. Sicher sind die Preise überall gestiegen, aber hier finde ich es noch überschaubar und gerechtfertigt. Die Gründe liegen nicht in der Gosenschenke !!! Jedenfalls sehr zu empfehlen und zum Wiederholungstäter zu werden.:-)) Macht weiter so ….

We had lunch with a tour group (39 people) and were very satisfied with the fast and friendly service, as well as the very good quality of the various dishes. Several guests called the company to thank us again the next day.

Always enjoy coming here. We didn't make a reservation this time, but thanks to the great staff we were still able to eat in the serving area and the beer tasted even better in the beer garden. Always worth a recommendation!

Sitting in this old economy is really a dream. Enjoying hearty home cooking with a Gose, what more could you want? And the staff is really very friendly.

Very tasty food, friendly service, beautiful surroundings

My last visit was with my Bavarian friends on July 14th, 2024 for dinner. This was preceded by a short-term reservation online, which was also very uncomplicated. The reservation sign was on the table and we received a friendly welcome. An extraordinarily friendly waitress always had a nice saying on her lips. The drinks and food came without long waiting times. The very tasty strawberry gose was also well received by my Bavarian friends. 2 times Rostbrätl with fried potatoes and 1 time pork steak Cajeri's favorite was ordered. The portions are generous, appetizingly arranged and taste excellent. A special request was also accommodated without any problems. I can't use my right hand so the meat was cut into bite-sized pieces for me. The price is also very moderate. At around 8:30 p.m. we made room for the European Championship final guests. Here everything has already been lovingly decorated and prepared. It's my favorite place and the Bavarians would love to come back.

Seit knapp acht Jahren ist Leipzig unsere Wahlheimatstadt. Schon bald sind wir auf die Gosenschenke als urgemütliches Restaurant mit lauschigem Biergarten aufmerksam geworden. Schmackhafte Speisen und ein breitgefächertes Bierangebot zogen uns immer wieder in dieses urige Lokal. Seit dem Ende der Corona-Pandemie hat sich allerdings das Preisniveau deutlich erhöht – dem Besucherzustrom hat das allerdings keinen Abbruch bereitet – die Gäste sind, bei ihrem Drang nach Genuss und Zerstreuung, offensichtlich bereit, jeden Preis zu bezahlen. Das kann zu einer gewissen Abgehobenheit, ja Arroganz, führen, bei der dann der früher gern gesehene Gast nur noch wie „Konsumvieh“ behandelt wird. Jüngst haben wir das selbst erleiden dürfen: Eine dem Seniorenalter schon sehr nahestehende Bedienerin (klein, kurze graue Haare, Brille) hatte uns bereits mit einigen Spitzfindigkeiten genervt, offenbar um ihre persönliche Überforderung zu kaschieren. Zum Abschluss der kleinen Geburtstagsfeier hat sie uns als Elternpaar gegenüber unseren Kindern diffamiert… Da ich nicht der Typ bin, der in aller Öffentlichkeit den lauten Affront sucht, habe ich die „Dame“ im Vier-Augen-Gespräch auf die Unschicklichkeit ihres Verhaltens hingewiesen, doch statt einer Entschuldigung folgten als Reaktion nur Unverständnis und Belustigung. Meine seligen Zeiten in der Gosenschenke („Ohne Bedenken“ – haha, jetzt wird mir der Sinn erstmal klar) sind definitiv vorbei und ich kann die Wirtin nur ersuchen, die unflätige Bedienerin umgehend auf die Straße zu setzen – oder zumindest in eine Besserungsanstalt für angemessenes Benehmen einzuweisen. Goseanna!

The people who work here all seemed relaxed and happy. Judging by their age, I think they've been working here for a long time: the boss has to be nice and fair, and the general conditions are right. Finally a place where the staff feels comfortable for years to come. I would love to come back here!

If you like it rustic, cozy and iconic, you will love the Gosenschenke. In classic brewery style, the food is clearly based on meat, but vegetarian food also finds its place on the menu. The classic of the tavern is without a doubt the knuckle. But other delicacies, such as the Gose summit or the onion cake, keep you coming back again and again. The visit is sweetened by the friendly staff, who have been loyal companions to the tavern over the years. In addition to the beautiful beer garden, you can also enjoy the various brewing specialties in the tavern in the old wooden furniture. For a noble end to your visit to the tavern, we recommend an ice-cold Allasch. What should be noted: in Biergsarten itself you should not always rely on card payment options. So it's better to have some cash with you here too.

Everything is great!! The restaurant, the service, the plentiful food and of course the Gose - in a wide variety of variations. That's what I call a traditional restaurant :) 12/2022 and now again 12/2023. Keep it up :)

Offering a red and white fries for €7.50 according to the menu is not realistic. That borders on usury!

Bei unserem Zweitbesuch gab es eine merkliche Steigerung zum ersten Mal. Deshalb gibt es dieses Mal auch volle 5 Sterne. Die Begrüßung war wieder super freundlich, zum Tisch geleitet worden, die Speisekarten übergeben und wir konnten erstmal stöbern. Nach kurzer Zeit wurde die Bestellung aufgenommen. Die Getränke kamen schnell, das Essen (frisch zubereitet!) nach sehr angemessener Zeit. Die Portionen sind groß, richtig zum satt werden. Qualitativ gab es nichts zu bemängeln. Die Bratkartoffeln aus der Pfanne, richtig gewürzt, das Rostbrätel und die Zwiebeln richtig gut. Die Pommes waren auf den Punkt, keine dunklen Ecken. Alles richtig gemacht! Zwischendurch wurde sich nach der Zufriedenheit erkundigt. Der Service war auch immer in "Reichweite", ohne dass es aufdringlich wirkte. Auch wenn die Preise für eine "Schenke" selbstbewußt sind, passt das Preis-/Leistungs-Verhältnis absolut. Fazit: Es gibt dieses Mal eine ausdrückliche Empfehlung für die Gosenschenke.

Very overpriced, poor quality and unfortunately the service staff wasn't friendly either. I can only agree with the bad reviews. If you're happy with bratwurst and beer, you're in good hands, but if you're a vegetarian with a bit of a claim you should look for something else

You are only welcome here as a consumer. Not as a guest. To put it into perspective: We came in as a group of four. When we placed our order and the fourth person in the group said that she wanted to skip it this time, the waitress snapped at her that such a thing wasn't possible and that she would have to pay a fee of 5 euros instead. We were very perplexed by this. Afterwards we quickly drank our drinks and disappeared. We had lost the desire for more as a group as a whole. It's a shame for such a traditional house. One day you shouldn't be surprised if it is replaced by other establishments with friendly service staff.

Very disappointing this time, we had the absolute loser's table (right next to the kitchen, extremely loud, so that a relaxed conversation was impossible). Service was always great, this time intrusive and unpleasant. Eating is also much more bland than usual.

The beer garden is the best. Of course, the food at the restaurant is delicious and the beer tastes great, but if you want to casually enjoy it in the warmer months, we recommend the beer garden. At the beer garden, you order at the counter and carry it out yourself. Please note that this is cash only (cards should be accepted at restaurants). The staff are always in a good mood and the atmosphere is nice. If you want to taste the German, or rather, the Saxony, please come 🍻 The nearby small castle called Gohliser Schlösschen is also recommended for sightseeing.

This is one of the best Biergartens that I have been to in Leipzig, let alone all of Germany. The prices are indeed indicative of global critical acclaim, but don't let that deter you in 2024 when everything is expensive. Firstly, the food is excellent and the portion sizes are fair. I ordered two Bratwursts with brötchen and my partner had a Schweinshaxe with 2 potato dumplings. Secondly, and this is the main reason why I love this place is the staff. It's not like I had a lot of deep or extensive conversations with the staff but seriously, everyone I spoke to was not only polite and friendly, but extremely accommodating and did their best. For context, I am an expat from Canada living in Germany. My partner and I were later joined by other expatriate and German friends (from the USA, Japan, and Spain). The waitress, who I believe was from Latin America was very friendly and attentive to all of the tables needs. When the outdoor Biergarten area was closed, an elder gentleman from the staff team came over and tried to very politely ask us to move indoors. He asked us this in English. I was very impressed. Indoors, the waiter who took our drink spilled a little Coca-Cola and instead of handing it to us all sticky, he went back to the kitchen, wiped the glass, and even topped up the drink to make up for the little bit that spilled earlier. When I went to the washroom, an older woman from the staff was filling up a bucket of water in the sink. She saw me patiently waiting and very sweetly motioned for me to use the sink first. At the end of the night, another elder gentleman from the staff kindly notified us that they were closing and explained that they unfortunately cannot allow us to stay longer due to the nature of the area. It is the small interactions with the personnel here that have summed up to my conclusion that this is indeed a high quality establishment, not only on food & drink, but in the people they hire. Every interaction at this Biergarten was no short of classy. I would rate this place 6/5 stars and recommend all expats, newcomers to Leipzig, and locals to go here. The food and drinks are great, but it's the service that makes this Biergarten really shine. Big kudos to Gösenschänke for doing business with such elegance. Please expect more business from me and my friends in the summer of 2024. (:

The Gosenschenke is recommended “without hesitation”. The name is program. A wide range of local and regional drinks and food for small and large hungers/thirsts. Cozy beer garden and outdoor seating area (partly covered). Nice service with local dialect. Lots of space for bikes.

Wir hatten reserviert und waren mit 12 Personen dort. Die Reservierung war nicht vorhanden und wir mussten im Biergarten sitzen. Es war frisch. Der erste Kontakt war nicht sehr einladend. Getränke wurden schnell aufgenommen und waren mit Ausnahme des Grauburgunders gut. Das Brätl meiner Frau war sehr gut. Meine Sülze war ok, die Remoulade nicht gut gewürzt und die Bratkartoffeln ebenfalls kaum gewürzt und noch sehr fest.
