We ate there for the first time today, December 5th, 2025, and we were absolutely thrilled. The food was top-notch, the staff incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere fantastic. Highly recommended. Please keep up the great work, because it's exactly what we're doing.

I arrived in Duhnen after a long day exploring the Lower Saxon North Sea coast and received excellent service at this restaurant. The team is absolutely fantastic – very friendly and truly embodies team spirit. Brilliant! In addition, the atmosphere is very pleasant and welcoming, and the kitchen cooks steaks to perfection. The quality of the meat is top-notch. Hats off – keep it up! I'm thrilled.

During our stays in Duhnen, a visit to Mahlzeit am Meer is a must. My favorite: the Neuwerk fish platter.

The pike-perch fillet was excellent, but the portion was far too small for the price. The plaice fillet was dry. This restaurant used to be our favorite in Duhnen, but the price-performance ratio is no longer acceptable. We won't be returning for the time being.

Had dinner today at Mahlzeit Am Meer in Duhnen - everything was GREAT 👍 To start, we had the delicious appetizer platter, Mediterranean antipasti, with air-dried ham, salami, bacon-wrapped dates, crostini with North Sea crab and herring tartare, tomato bruschetta, cheese pieces, olives, and marinated leaf salad in a Parmesan basket. For the main course, we had the "Fish Platter by the Sea" with a large selection of salmon, cod, zander, plaice, and redfish fillets, as well as fried shrimp with Mediterranean vegetables, spinach, rosemary, and fried potatoes with cucumber, mustard, and shellfish sauce. The restaurant has a great ambiance, and the food was also delicious.

We come here every year, and it's always a delight. The service is prompt, friendly, and attentive, always with a sense of humor. The food, whether fish, meat, or vegetarian, is always excellent, and it's a great restaurant for kids, too.

Selling bottled water that, according to the internet, is no longer produced indicates to me that it's bottled in-house, which is what you should say. Or am I wrong? So, all in all, a great evening. I deliberately didn't delete the water, but I got it. Once again, all the best from the four of us in Wilhelmshaven.

It wasn't what I expected. We ordered mussels from the seasonal menu. It was disappointing. No flavor. Service wasn't great either, considering the price. The waitress simply left the cutlery on the table. They didn't try to clear the dishes properly, and so on.

This restaurant is definitely a recommendation in Duhnen. It costs a few euros more, but the kitchen puts significantly more thought into the preparation of the dishes than other restaurants in the area. The service is also very attentive and not as skimpy as in other restaurants. The ambiance, including the winter garden, is also very pleasant.

My wife and I were on a weekend trip to Cuxhaven. Since the trip took place during the fall break, we took a chance on a restaurant from afar and reserved a table in advance. By chance, it was "Mahlzeit am Meer" (Meal by the Sea). When we arrived in the evening, we were delighted by both the ambiance of the lovingly designed restaurant and the food. A real recommendation for a lovely dinner!

I've rarely had such deliciously seasoned food. Our request for a table by the window was promptly granted. The staff was very attentive. However, by the end, the atmosphere was a bit flat... understandable, as it was constantly busy, but still pleasantly quiet. Absolutely excellent value for money. There were three of us, and this won't be the last time we're there.

Selected based on reviews as one of five pre-filtered restaurants, I'll describe the culinary experience from Saturday, September 6th in brief: Ambience: Dreamy, historic walls - tip-top, stylishly maintained. Service: Dreamy - the waitress Jessica is a real cheery person - it's a pleasure. Food: (here comes the kicker) We both had different fish dishes - the fish itself was super delicious (I had sea bass and plaice). But the fried potatoes were a greasy disaster. And the icing on the cake was sparkling tap water, labeled on the menu as mineral water - disguised in a fancy bottle for a hell of a lot of money - it almost doesn't get any more of a rip-off than that. Sorry - without Jessica, the Palatinate Sauvignon Blanc, and the amazing fish, you would have completely failed.

I went there yesterday because I wanted a nice fillet steak. I was absolutely thrilled! The staff was really nice, attentive, and very friendly! I had a 300g beef fillet steak with fried potatoes and steak butter. It was incredibly delicious! The wait was also perfect, and the price was absolutely reasonable! Afterward, I ordered a Friesengeist (a spirit from the Friesian family), and when they served me, they asked if I wanted it lit. They recited the traditional saying and then extinguished the flame with a pan. So, all in all, a very, very nice dinner! I'll definitely be back next time!😊

We had a very good meal, a bit more modern, and highly recommended for the otherwise old-fashioned North Sea (restaurants). The service was a bit rushed, but they tried very hard to accommodate everyone.

I highly recommend visiting this restaurant on vacation. The service was extremely courteous and provided more than satisfactory service to me and my companions. The ambiance was very inviting and appetizing. The drinks and food were outstanding and were more than just a culinary delight. I would even say that you could hardly find better fish than at this restaurant. There was nothing lacking.

Very good food, everything fresh and lovingly prepared, from the starter to the main course and dessert. The steak was perfect, and the fish platter left nothing to be desired. A big compliment to the chef. Very child-friendly. There's a special card/sheet for children where they can mark their preferences, and then draw on the back. We were on vacation in Duhnen and luckily discovered this restaurant on our second day. Whether we ordered one of the fine fish or meat dishes, it was always a delight. The kitchen knows how to cook sophisticated and delicious food. The fish was always beautifully cooked and cooked to perfection. I was absolutely thrilled with the zander on the chanterelle mushroom risotto with asparagus, among other dishes. Such a creamy risotto, absolutely delicious. We actually ate there 10 evenings and always found something new to try. Impeccable service, super friendly and attentive staff. We highly recommend this restaurant. It's worth spending a few euros more on a meal.

A real highlight – highly recommended! We spontaneously stopped by Mahlzeit Am Meer and were immediately warmly welcomed. Even though we arrived with four people without a reservation, we were immediately offered a nice table – despite many reservations. We were particularly impressed by the children's menu: Instead of the usual fries and nuggets selection, children can create their own meal – with fresh ingredients, healthy side dishes like vegetables, and lovingly prepared classics like schnitzel. Everything is freshly prepared and homemade – and you can taste it! Our entire meal was simply fantastic – fresh, lovingly prepared, and delicious! The value for money is also absolutely spot on. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff extremely friendly and attentive. We felt completely at home and will definitely be back. A clear recommendation for anyone who appreciates good food, warmth, and a relaxed atmosphere! 👏

Breakfast buffet from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. daily We had breakfast here with three adults and two small children. The buffet was extensive, had a wide selection, and they were happy to replace out-of-stock items upon request. The prices were great. Many drinks were included in the price. Very tasty, and we'll be back next year.

Great food, great and very attentive service, child-friendly, and a friendly clientele! It's a shame we only ate here on our last evening; it would have been worth a second visit. Excellent! And in my opinion, not too expensive for the quality. Even the children's schnitzel was a real piece of meat (and not just pressed meat), and the redfish with a Parmesan topping was a treat.

Update/2025: The food is still sensational, the service is friendly and personal, but still in the background. The food is definitely 5-star, but some of the waiters are clearly "overly enthusiastic." I don't know if you need to put on such a show in a holiday resort with people in their early 20s.

The best fish restaurant in Cuxhaven! Fresh, perfectly cooked, and seasoned fish. Fast and friendly service, and (small) children are also taken care of here. We come here again and again and look forward to this restaurant even before our vacation begins. We recommend the fish platter.

It was truly excellent. The North German bruschetta was very impressive, and the fish platter with plaice was also outstanding. My companion was also completely satisfied. Highly recommended. The portions aren't huge, but they're sufficient.

We visited this beautiful, historic restaurant several times. We had the following dishes: mushroom risotto, Neuwerk fish platter, Holstein-style schnitzel, a large salad plate, crab tagliatelle, and three types of Nordic bruschetta. All of them were delicious and highly recommended. The only minor drawback is that several delicious dishes are only available for two people. The owner should reconsider.
