Unfortunately way too overpriced!!!!

We've been Duhnen fans for years and a meal with you is a must that we look forward to every time - BUT THIS TIME YOU'VE LACKED UP A LOT. THE MUSSELS WERE DELICIOUS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE PORTION WAS MUCH TOO SMALL. AND MY SPAGHETTI ALIO Y OLIO WERE PRETTY CRUEL. THEY SHOULD BE WITH GOLDEN BROWN ROASTED GARLIC. UNFORTUNATELY THEY TAST VERY NEUTRAL AND THERE DEFINITELY DID NOT CONTAIN ROASTED GARLIC. THE GARLIC TASTES LIKE PICKLED AND PURCHASED GARLIC. UNFORTUNATELY THE TOP WAS NOT INTERESTED IN THE CRITICISM... YOU CAN DEFINITELY COULD DO THIS BETTER - and with such a density of restaurants in Duhnen, you should change something!

We had mussels and Neuwerker fish plates; Very tasty, but you should be full for €21.

Ate there two weeks ago and then only there. Great, creative cuisine, rich and very tasty. Service attentive, loving, fun to be there. The ambience managed to combine old with new. We felt very comfortable. We can't judge the rooms, we had a holiday apartment.

We were warmly welcomed twice and had a very tasty meal twice. Great service, great cuisine, delicious food and well prepared. Price/performance is also okay!

We always sit in the winter garden and have a very good meal. Happy to come back!

Das Restaurant liegt zentral in Duhnen und überzeugt mit hoher Qualität beim Essen und einem urigen Ambiente. Der Service passt, ist gelegentlich etwas zurückhaltend. Die lokal typischen Fischgerichte werden auf hohem Niveau variiert, zusätzlich präsentiert die Küche immer wieder pfifgige Ideen.

A wonderfully stylish restaurant. The food and service were “at its best”.

The restaurant was full at 10 a.m. for brunch. Best time on Sunday, but we were full and ate good and fresh. I always find parking difficult, we walked from the neighboring town but no problem by the sea. The staff always tried to fill everything up quickly and keep the buffet running.

It wasn't my wife and I's first time in Cuxhaven-Duhnen, but it was our first time at "Meal by the Sea". Since the first evening was so (unexpectedly) fantastic, we went back straight away. We had the fish platter for two and were really thrilled: we ate and drank wonderfully in this cozy and tastefully designed restaurant (located absolutely centrally in Duhnen). It was absolutely delicious! The service was also pleasant and very friendly. Absolutely recommended!

On October 4th took a trip to Duhnen. Until that day we only knew the beach. Great city center, and then the house by the sea. A hotel with older charm, beautiful exterior facade. An offer for coffee time. We enter the cafe. Are warmly welcomed. The space available is large. It later turns out that every table is reserved from 5 p.m. A piece of cake and coffee or tea to fill you up at a good price. The variety of cakes was very large, the cake was delicious 😋. We'll definitely be back. The bridge day and the beautiful autumn weather were responsible for the high capacity utilization in the town.

Fine food in a cultivated atmosphere. Service friendly and attentive. The quality of the food stands out clearly from the surrounding restaurants. Highly recommended, and yes the prices are fair and reasonable.

Review from 5.2022 - addendum from 09.2024 at the end! Barely 4*. My wife and I have been here on vacation almost every year. Have always been very satisfied (5 stars!). And I don't want to badmouth it either, since Corona means that there are hardly any good, trained staff and the processes still have to be "established". BUT, waiting over an hour for the food is tough. And that at a time without holidays and when there wasn't that much going on. And when the "real" Viennese schnitzel you ordered arrives with a soft, limp, fatty breading and the meat itself is very dry, even the good starter (crab sandwich with egg) and the hard-working staff (at the bar) don't help negative overall impression. And for me personally, this happened when you had previously fervently recommended the place to your friend and persuaded him to go there. Because the toilets are really very clean and modern and the boss apologized (after asking when the food would come) and in the hope that this was an exception, I'm just giving it 4* stars otherwise it would only be 3* this time. been. I know you can do better and I will give you another chance to prove it. I will come again with my wife. Unfortunately you weren't able to convince my friend at all and he probably won't come again. Sometimes you only have one chance... But I know you can do it! .........Addendum 09.2024...... It's okay! Today it was perfect again. Good, motivated staff, good organization and delicious food bring back the 5* star. You should definitely reserve a table (also possible online 👍). A well-mixed cocktail to start, and delicious mussels and a schnitzel with delicious fried potatoes were brought quickly and friendly. And the crowning glory was the homemade ice cream cake with meringue, a dream 😋👍. Outside there was the first mulled wine at bar tables with a table fire. Great idea! A lovely, successful evening. We would (definitely) like to come back. Keep it up.

First-class restaurant with an excellent menu and friendly, courteous service. The only minus is that the sidewalk runs through the outside area (there's no other way). Otherwise the atmosphere is very appealing. The crab tagliatelle is an absolute insider tip, otherwise ALL dishes are recommended, with a good price-performance ratio and an attractive presentation (after all, the eye eats too). The starter plate for two is also great. Served with some bread and a glass of wine, I wouldn't need any more... With first-class quality that has been consistent for years. So all in all, a well-rounded affair. And to the team: Please keep it up and we will come back to you every year.

Our regular restaurant in Cuxhaven-Duhnen! Very tasty fish dishes and varied menu. The seasonal menu is also an absolute recommendation, whether the kale dishes in winter or the chanterelles in September... everything wonderfully fresh and deliciously prepared... well seasoned and beautifully presented... plus friendly and attentive staff.. .

A great evening with very tasty fish dishes. Plaice and matjes really convincingly and originally prepared. The biggest surprise was the “Creme Brulee” dessert, really convincing and delicious! It was fun, we'll be back.

Sehr nettes Personal, gemütlich eingerichtet, tolles und freundliches Personal, Buffet mit Liebe angerichtet, für Kaffeenachschub wird immer gesorgt. Wir frühstücken in der Woche gerne hier, am Wochenende ist es uns allerdings zu voll (was aber auch für die Qualität und Beliebtheit spricht). Schade nur, dass wir es erst für uns "entdeckt" haben, nachdem wir hierher gezogen sind und nicht schon in den 7 Urlaubsjahren davor 😃

Positiv hervorzuheben ist das Ambiente. Meine Hauptspeise war „Zanderfilet auf cremigem Risotto mit Pfifferlingen“. Das Filet war leider völlig übergart und trocken, während das Risotto eher geschmacklos daher kam. Sehr schade, vor allem für eine Gesamtrechnung von €94,00 für 2 Vorspeisen, 2 Hauptspeisen und 3 Getränke.

This establishment has a great kitchen with lovingly classic yet hip furnishings, which in my opinion gives it the top position in Duhnen and Cuxhaven. The clientele in this area tends to be older, but not only older but also younger people get their money's worth here. The quality is great and the house can look back on a long history. Clear recommendation!

We came here spontaneously and sat in the beautiful indoor area. As a main course we have the beef fillet (medium) and the salmon fillet. As you can see in the picture, the beef fillet was nicely done. The quality of the meat was great, it was very tender and tasted very good. The fries that came with it were more chips than the “normal” fries. You have to like them. The salmon was also great, very tender and cooked to perfection. In terms of price, the beef fillet (200g) with a side dish of sauce costs over €35, the fish was also just under €30. Certainly not the cheapest restaurant here, but you can pay for the quality. Definitely recommended.

We were there for breakfast. The buffet had a huge selection of bread and rolls, various juices, quark, yoghurt, muesli, honey, Nutella and jam. The scrambled eggs are the ones from the package, so they are perfectly seasoned... they just could have been a little less moist. There was sausage...I don't eat it so I didn't pay much attention to it. In my opinion there was definitely not enough choice for cheese. The salmon was very tasty. The croissants were a bit disappointing. Too sweet and too hard. The service was very courteous and friendly. The atmosphere is old, but magically old. Things from the time the house was built could be seen everywhere. The whole thing reminded me of café houses in Vienna. High ceilings, dark wood... charming. Only the toilet on the first floor was a challenge with a crutch. The individual steps in the guest room were not so tragic.

Tolles Restaurant, super Service und hervorragendes Essen.

We had lunch yesterday and were more than satisfied. I have never eaten such good matjes “housewife style”! The fish is so fresh, the sauce is delicious and mild, the salad and the boiled potatoes are a delight. My husband's redfish and plaice were also freshly prepared very well and the homemade fries were absolutely praiseworthy.

Danger! Very dangerous Schafer plastic part caught in the ice in my child's mouth! Hairy looking thing (about 6-7cm long) caught in my soup. (Everything photographed. Invoice available.) Me and my family came here for dinner today. (My husband. Me. My two children. Son 14/Daughter 9) I got my chanterelle soup. After eating two spoonfuls of soup, I saw a long black one (looked like hair, about 5-6 cm long.) in the soup. I immediately told a lady, she took the soup back to the kitchen, but returned after 8-10 minutes and told me it was just mushrooms, but chanterelles are brown, not black, right? The lady broke the hair in her hand and offered me another soup. But later we had an even worse experience because of my child's ice cream. PS: The main menu/main dish took a very, very, very long time. Nobody came to us for a very long time. Approximately 35-45 minutes. For dessert, my 14 year old son ordered 2 scoops of ice cream. Mango and lemon flavor. My daughter also 2, raspberries and chocolate. (The children's menu said 1 euro per ball but the waitress told me it was 1.5 euros each for chocolate and vanilla varieties for children. But for other varieties it was 2 euros each.) Almost at the end of eating ice cream, my son spit out a very sharp/edgy piece of plastic in his mouth. This appears to be part of the ice cream packaging. Very dangerous! It could cut your tongue or throat!!! We reported this second problem, the lady apologized in a very relaxed manner (while looking at the bill), returned after 10-15 minutes and said we didn't have to pay for ice cream. That was the excuse! (Also, they canceled my daughter's 3.5 euro bill instead of my son's 4 euro bill.) So for such dangerous cases, no upper manager even came to us to apologize or explain why such a great looking restaurant offers such low service and unhygienic food with hair and sharp plastic items??? Only 3.5€ ice cream bill canceled because of your mistake, which could endanger my child's life with the plastic sheep part??? INSURANCE!!! Plus, my fish pan has 3 small fish in it with 2 peppers and 1 carrot slice. 26€. Outrageous price. All guests, for your safety and great restaurant experience, avoid this restaurant!

Sorry, nie wieder! Essen unhygienisch. Sogar gefährlich! Service sehr langsam!! Preis Unverschämt teuer!!! Ich habe meine Familie eingeladen hier zum Abendessen. (Mein Mann. Ich. Meine zwei Kinder. 14/9) Ich habe meine Pfifferlingesuppe bekommen. Nach zwei Löffeln Suppe gegessen, (Sehr sehr salzig), habe ich ein schwarzes langes (Sah wie Haar aus) in die Suppe gesehen. Sofort habe ich bei einer Dame gesagt, sie nahm die Suppe zurück zu der Küche, kehrte aber nach 8-10 Minuten zurück, hat mir gesagt das war nur was aus den Pilze, aber Pfifferlinge sind doch braun nicht schwarz oder? Die Dame hat das Haar in die Hand gerissen und hat mir eine andere Suppe angeboten. Naja, dachte ich okay, Pech gehabt. Das Essen dauert sehr sehr sehr lange. Für Nachtisch hat mein 14 Jähriger Sohn 2 Eiskugeln bestellt. Mango und Zitrone. Meine Tochter auch 2, Himbeeren und Schoko. Fast am Ende des eisessens, hat mein Sohn vom Mund ein sehr spitzig/kantiges Plastikteil ausgespuckt. Das scheint ein Teil von dem Eis Verpackung zu sein. Sehr gefährlich! Wir haben das zweite Problem gemeldet, die Dame hat ganz kurz entschuldigt, kehrte nach 10-15 Minuten zurück, sagte ein Eis mussten wir nicht zahlen. (Außerdem, die haben meine Tochter 3,5 Euro Rechnung gestrichen anstatt mein Sohns 4 Euro Rechnung ) Plus, meine Fischpfanne hat 3 stk kleine Fische drin mit 2 stk Paprika 1 Karotten Scheibe. 26€. Unverschämter Preis. Erst mal hier gewesen aber nie wieder! Finger weg!

Das Essen war sehr lecker, der Servicw jedoch ging gar nicht. Kellner war angespannt, kein nettes Wort über. Wir fühlten uns nicht erwünscht oder respektiert. Wir sassen zudem im starken Wind, das musste nicht sein. Bei so schlechtem Service hilft auch gutes Esssn nicht.

Da das Lokal einfach spitze ist - ist eine Reservierung wichtig! Es schmeckt einfach alles super und Extrawünsche werden erfüllt. TOP!

I have never experienced anything like it!!! We reserved a table for two people for our birthday about 3 weeks ago! When we asked if it was possible to make a reservation outside, we were told that this would not be possible. When we asked again an hour before the reservation, the waiter was annoyed, but accepted that the reservations had already been assigned and showed me the table. Implementation would no longer be possible. Then we came to the reservation and the space that was assigned to us for a birthday was super tight. When asked again politely about the implementation, both the service employee became very rude and replied somewhat: “Do you work in the evening business... We don't accept reservations outside” And in a very loud and aggressive tone! And especially since there was a reserved sign on all the tables outside. We always enjoyed coming to eat, but that was the last time or so. It didn't happen because we left! Never again!!! And a little advice to the very unfriendly service staff: keep your eyes open when choosing a career!

Es war ein sehr schöner Abend. Wir kommen fast jedes Jahr im Sommer und dieses Jahr war es besonders schön. Das Essen unglaublich lecker und der Service war sehr sympathisch und aufmerksam.

Sehr leckeres Essen. Ich hatte Zander mit Pfiffetlingsrisotto und war begeistert. Wir mussten nicht lange aufs Essen warten und auch der Kellner war sehr aufmerksam .
