The consistently attentive and friendly service, along with the beautiful ambiance, provides a pleasant and fitting accompaniment to the excellent food. All the dishes (after five visits as a couple) are perfectly seasoned. A true culinary delight and incredibly healthy. Those who prefer vegan or vegetarian options will find high-quality and delicious dishes here. Also highly recommended: the exceptionally tasty chai tea, offered by Magellan in both green and black varieties. The price-performance ratio is also quite reasonable. We will gladly return.

Magellan is a place you should know about; if you haven't been, you should definitely check it out. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, and most tables are arranged for four. There's a bar where you can sit and an outdoor area for warm days. The service is always polite and attentive to every request.

We first visited two years ago and were thrilled. Now we're back in France and ate at Magellan again. The food was delicious, the service attentive, and the atmosphere perfect. If we want Afghan food again, we'll definitely go back to Magellan.

Delicious food and a QR code on the menu where you could see pictures of the dishes. It was a shame that the entire restaurant eventually ran out of glasses. We weren't even asked if we wanted anything else to drink or dessert.

So, €5 for a dry piece of bread that doesn't even measure A5 is pretty bold and cheeky. I would have loved to go there and handle it accordingly indiscreetly. They've never dared to do something like that to me before. Outrageous! The bread was dry, tough, and supposedly something special. I assume it hadn't been ordered in a long time.

We went to dinner at Restaurant Magellan in Freiburg im Breisgau and the experience was quite positive. The place is cozy, with modern yet warm decor, and you can tell they pay attention to the details. The atmosphere was calm, ideal for conversation and leisurely enjoying the meal. The service was friendly and professional from the start, something always appreciated. The menu is varied, with interesting options that blend classic and more international flavors. We ordered several dishes to share and try a bit of everything. The Fusilli Nudeln was well served, with a good texture and a tasty sauce. The Grillteller was one of the standout dishes: generous, well-cooked, and with good-quality meats. We also ordered samosas, which were a pleasant surprise, with a spiced filling and a crispy exterior. To drink, we tried both sparkling water (Schwarzwaldsprudel Still) and a local beer (Fürstenberg Pils), both ice-cold and served perfectly. On a side note, the price-performance ratio is quite good: for about €59.60 in total, we had a full dinner for two, including drinks. As a minor suggestion, some dishes could have benefited from a more creative presentation, but this didn't detract from the overall impression. In short, Restaurant Magellan is a highly recommended place if you're in Freiburg and looking for a delicious dinner with good service and reasonable prices. We'll definitely return on another visit to the city.

We were at the Magellan for a family celebration. None of us had ever eaten Afghan food before, but we were all very impressed by the delicious food. Our only criticism: you have to wait a bit for your food. Nonetheless, highly recommended!

- food: over the average of what you could find in Freiburg, so I really recommend it. - drinks: wine offer is not that big, but the few are good, and they also offer wines that are not commonly available on other restaurants. - service: also over the average. They also try to speak English, which is a big point here in Freiburg, difficult to find. A BIG PLUS: the restaurant is almost always open, so if you miss your meal time one day, you know where to go.

The food exceeded all expectations, deliciously seasoned, good ratio of the dishes to each other and the aperitifs are also great! You can tell that the food here is lovingly prepared. Waiting time is low, the food was on our table quickly, but I recommend trying the starters, they are definitely worth it! Very, very friendly staff, always available if you need something/would like to order something extra. Thank you for the lovely evening! We'll come by again.

Hello, the food was again very good. Thanks. Unfortunately, the service today was very inattentive. We had to actively draw attention to ourselves again and again in order to be able to re-order. Main courses didn't arrive until 1.5 hours after we arrived. Ok, the restaurant was full - but still not ideal. And what we don't like at all: that when paying with a card, tips are asked so heavily - with 10% as a MINIMUM??? That's not necessarily appropriate. It should be completely free or a lower starting amount should be given - so I have no desire to tip at all, especially since the service today might have earned a grade C and nothing more. Tipping is intended to recognize a special performance of the staff IN ADDITION to the basic pay. So all in all, TODAY was only a mediocre experience - I know this differently from previous visits and I would be happy if this constructive criticism also led to adjustments.

Magellan is my absolute favorite restaurant when it comes to enjoying delicious Dal dishes. It offers a good selection, including vegan dishes, delicious drinks with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is not overloaded, but you can be sure that the dishes you order here are guaranteed to be very tasty. I have been here many times and can recommend it without hesitation.

Unfortunately, I didn't find it quite as authentic. The flavors are there, but they were significantly diminished for Western palates. Furthermore, all the dishes were served almost cold, with specially warmed plates.

El restaurante realmente me sorprendió. Desde el ambiente, el servicio a la comida todo era perfecto. Mi familia y yo fuimos allí un martes por la noche y estaba bastante ocupado. Afortunadamente hicimos una reserva. Nos recomendaron unas cuantas comidas y nos encantaron todas. Comimos Sambosas, ensalada afgana pequeña, Badenjan Burani y Pakoras para empezar. Con nuestra red obtuvimos una botella de un increíble vino tinto llamado “Simil”. Teníamos Bolanis con cordero, Mantu, Kabuli Palau con cordero y Aschak con carne picada de ternera y un plato de parrilla con pinchos de pollo. Todo fue increíble. No podemos esperar a volver la próxima vez que visitemos Friburgo. Muy recomendable.

Wir waren während der Feiertage bei Magellan. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen, der Service war sehr gut, und das Essen hat uns hervorragend geschmeckt. Besonders angenehm war, dass das Essen nicht schwer, sondern leicht und sättigend war.

Very slow service even though there was almost no one there, the food is super expensive for what it is, it looked like frozen food. I paid for a dish of rice and 2 chicken skewers and I paid 21 even though 'there was almost no rice the location is bad but that's not so disturbing they put lemon in coke and it spoils the taste of the coke the glasses and services were quite defective because we could see traces there and I can't say it enough but the service and super slow I waited 15 minutes for tea, we didn't feel the atmosphere of the country at all it's disappointing I had no expectations for this restaurant but I was very disappointed with the chicken was plastic I strongly advise against it!!!

Sehr zu empfehlen, das Essen ist ein Genuss, die Lokalität schafft eine angenehme Stimmung, das Team ist sehr freundlich. Wir sind grad zweimal nacheinander gegangen und werden beim nächsten Freiburgbesuch sicher wieder gern dort essen.
