I had dinner with a colleague there last Monday and enjoyed the food so much that I took my family there yesterday, twice in a week, it is that good!

The food was amazing, maybe one of the best foods ive ever had in freiburg. I dont have any pictures of the food. The staff were friendly and respectful. Strongly recommend

Hello, the food was again very good. Thanks. Unfortunately, the service today was very inattentive. We had to actively draw attention to ourselves again and again in order to be able to re-order. Main courses didn't arrive until 1.5 hours after we arrived. Ok, the restaurant was full - but still not ideal. And what we don't like at all: that when paying with a card, tips are asked so heavily - with 10% as a MINIMUM??? That's not necessarily appropriate. It should be completely free or a lower starting amount should be given - so I have no desire to tip at all, especially since the service today might have earned a grade C and nothing more. Tipping is intended to recognize a special performance of the staff IN ADDITION to the basic pay. So all in all, TODAY was only a mediocre experience - I know this differently from previous visits and I would be happy if this constructive criticism also led to adjustments.

Magellan is my absolute favorite restaurant when it comes to enjoying delicious Dal dishes. It offers a good selection, including vegan dishes, delicious drinks with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is not overloaded, but you can be sure that the dishes you order here are guaranteed to be very tasty. I have been here many times and can recommend it without hesitation.

Wir saßen sehr gemütlich und das Essen war sehr wir lecker - wir sind vollauf zufrieden nach Hause gegangen! Sowohl Fleisch als auch Gemüsegerichte sind zu empfehlen.

Wenn ihr in Freiburg seid ist das Restaurant wirklich ein Herzenstipp! Man wird herzlich empfangen, die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich und das Essen ist ein Traum, also wow. Ich habe noch nie so weiche Auberginen gegessen, die Sauce ist super lecker und das Lammfleisch hat die perfekte Konsistenz. Wir werden morgen direkt nochmal hingehen.

Unfortunately, I didn't find it quite as authentic. The flavors are there, but they were significantly diminished for Western palates. Furthermore, all the dishes were served almost cold, with specially warmed plates.

Essen und Getränke mega lecker. Portionen sind groß und man ist mehr als satt. Immer wieder eine Freude hier zu essen. Personal auch super freundlich.

El restaurante realmente me sorprendió. Desde el ambiente, el servicio a la comida todo era perfecto. Mi familia y yo fuimos allí un martes por la noche y estaba bastante ocupado. Afortunadamente hicimos una reserva. Nos recomendaron unas cuantas comidas y nos encantaron todas. Comimos Sambosas, ensalada afgana pequeña, Badenjan Burani y Pakoras para empezar. Con nuestra red obtuvimos una botella de un increíble vino tinto llamado “Simil”. Teníamos Bolanis con cordero, Mantu, Kabuli Palau con cordero y Aschak con carne picada de ternera y un plato de parrilla con pinchos de pollo. Todo fue increíble. No podemos esperar a volver la próxima vez que visitemos Friburgo. Muy recomendable.

By far the best (Afghan) restaurant in Freiburg with a variety of excellent dishes (lamb and karahi morgh are particularly recommended). Attentive and polite service and a great ambience both in the restaurant and on the terrace.

Wir waren während der Feiertage bei Magellan. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen, der Service war sehr gut, und das Essen hat uns hervorragend geschmeckt. Besonders angenehm war, dass das Essen nicht schwer, sondern leicht und sättigend war.

The service is beyond praise! We couldn’t decide on the choice of wine - they brought us 4 types to try! For food we chose antipasti and Kabuly Palau - incredible! I recommend it.

Sehr leckeres Essen. Es fing schon mit einem kleinen grandiosen afghanischen Salat an. Danach ein sehr gutes Lammgericht. Die Bedienung freundlich. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Sehr zu empfehlen, das Essen ist ein Genuss, die Lokalität schafft eine angenehme Stimmung, das Team ist sehr freundlich. Wir sind grad zweimal nacheinander gegangen und werden beim nächsten Freiburgbesuch sicher wieder gern dort essen.

Very slow service even though there was almost no one there, the food is super expensive for what it is, it looked like frozen food. I paid for a dish of rice and 2 chicken skewers and I paid 21 even though 'there was almost no rice the location is bad but that's not so disturbing they put lemon in coke and it spoils the taste of the coke the glasses and services were quite defective because we could see traces there and I can't say it enough but the service and super slow I waited 15 minutes for tea, we didn't feel the atmosphere of the country at all it's disappointing I had no expectations for this restaurant but I was very disappointed with the chicken was plastic I strongly advise against it!!!

Fantastic restaurant located very conviniently away from the bustle of the Freiburg altstadt. The food was fantastic and generous in portion and the service was impeccable and friendly. Good for those who would like to have a hearty meal and like me, a curiosity of afghan food. The prices also were extremely reasonable.

Nice, small restaurant with a very cozy atmosphere. Very polite and attentive service. The food is an absolute dream. We have stayed at the Magellan several times and it has always been excellent. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian or a meat eater, there's something for everyone and it's incredibly good! You can tell that the dishes are fresh and prepared with love.

Das Magellan in Freiburg! Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich und echt einladend dank der bunten traditionellen Einrichtung. Der Service aufmerksam und freundlich. Die Gerichte sind traditionell und echt lecker. Für mich war der afghanische Reis mit Rosinen, die Lammgerichte und die Teigtaschen ( Mantu ) genau nach meinem Geschmack. Ein perfekter Ort für einen entspannten und leckeren Abend – absolut empfehlenswert!

Das Magellan gehört definitiv zu meinen Favoriten, wenn es um afghanische Küche geht. Der Reis mit Rosinen bestelle ich am liebsten und die Auberginen sind auch immer super lecker. Obwohl ich normalerweise kein Lamm esse, bin ich von dem Lamm hier immer begeistert. Als Dessert empfehle ich auch immer den Milchreis mit Kardamom und Rosenwasser, ist auch mal echt was anderes. Der Außenbereich ist gemütlich und trotz der Straße entspannt. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, was den Besuch noch besser macht.

Excellent food, taste 10/10 and the ambience is also very authentic. The staff is courteous and attentive. Almost all dishes can be prepared vegan and are marked on the menu. The only point of criticism is the somewhat high prices, but all in all it's worth a visit and we'll definitely stop by more often in the future.

The waitresses were friendly and helpful, the table arrangement was changed very quickly because two additional guests came to the reserved table. The food was delicious and the drinks arrived quickly. All in all, a pleasant visit to the restaurant. I would like to stop by again.

Gutes, leckeres Essen. Für mich als männlichen guten Esser hätte die Portion etwas mehr sein können aber die Qualität und Geschmack haben es wieder ausgeglichen. Sehr zu empfehlen wenn man die orientalische Küche mag.

Just outside the center, easily accessible with line 1 Landwasser. We had grilled fried potatoes and vegetarian eggplant /daal dish. Both very tasty. Only the side salad was a bit boring. After eating, a walk at the nearby Seepark is recommended.

Hier waren wir echt enttäuscht! Proppenvoll, was eigentlich für das Restaurant spricht, aber lieblose und olle Einrichtung, wenig herzliche Bedienung , Serviceprobleme (die Getränke kamen erst auf Nachfrage nach einer Ewigkeit) und das Essen belanglos. Ja, man konnte es essen, aber nicht genießen. Das Salatdressing schmeckte fischig, das Dal war zu Brei verkocht und das Pakora bestand aus mehr Teig als Gemüse. Hier muss ich nicht wieder hingehen!

Die Leute sind äusserst nett und freundlich, das Essen lecker, und egal ob drinnen oder draussen, macht es einfach Spass!

Very nice staff, excellent food and reasonable pricing (especially for the quantity) Parking was not too hard to find but do remember if you park in the street that it is limited to two hours and you need a disc! Bonus points for online reservation where you can specify allergies and whether you'll need help with wheelchairs or will be bringing children along

Off the beaten path in Freiberg but we’ll worth the short street car ride if you want some great food and service in a great atmosphere. Menus in English as well which helped a lot. Great server.

Landed here by chance and wanted to try something new. In the end it was clear that the visit was worth it. The food is really good and a great change from what you're used to. It's just that visually the restaurant isn't in the prettiest building in the city.

There were 10 of us and we were seated in the separate room. The room is very traditionally and very comfortably furnished. The rest of the restaurant also looked cozy. The food was really delicious. This was our first visit to the Magellan and we can thoroughly recommend it.

Service very friendly and helpful, ambience in the large room not so cozy and relatively loud but in our private room very cozy and quiet. The minced beef kebabs and potatoes were very tasty and the side salad was also really good. Unfortunately, my mother's chicken was barely edible. Super dry, unseasoned and tasted kind of fishy. So I would advise against that. The eggplant and lamb dishes as well as the starter plate looked very tasty and the dips are also good. Unfortunately, the mocha afterwards wasn't ours at all. Watery and with a strange aftertaste

Out of a 120 EUR order, Firni and Mantu were the best part of the order. Naan was supplied in a homeopathic quantity. Given the amount of eggplant and dips…. Not really a hit. Lamb was tough. Chapli Kabob was still ok. Price/performance is not right, at least for takeaway. I'm disappointed with the overall package. The courier who brought the food was very nice and followed the instructions. I hope he gets the tip that we also paid via the APP.
