Madame Plüsch in Füssen

The food is delicious, but more expensive than usual.

We entered the restaurant yesterday at around 4:00 PM after seeing an advertisement outside for apple strudel. Upon entering, we were immediately hit with a pungent smell of old furniture/carpet, which made us very skeptical. After waiting for five minutes and finding the entire place deserted (neither customers nor staff), we left.

A beautifully decorated little restaurant. Delicious food and incredibly friendly staff. A real hidden gem!

The new owner worked there for seven years as a chef. He did an honorably thing and bought this place. As a result he saved a really quaint and nice place from closing its doors and gave is some of the best duck breast my meal partner ever had; his exact quote "that was the best duck breast I've ever had". My filet with Madagascar pepper sauce with sort of casserole potatoes al gratin was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Owner works hard and makes great foos and I wish him great success. The plating of the meals was rustic and well designed. (See attached pic). The decor is homey and warm. Anyhow, really glad we chose this place over the cold decor of the Italian place next door.

We went there for lunch, and it was quite busy. As a result, it took a while. So far, so good. Forgetting to bring a requested beer mat because the table was wobbly is forgivable. What isn't forgivable is that the forgotten bread for the otherwise delicious salad only arrived after the third reminder. By then, no new customers had arrived for a while. My Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) tasted great, but were only lukewarm when they were served. The same was true for my companion's soup. I eventually swiped the beer mat from the empty table next to us. Only to discover that now the stand was no longer wobbly, but the tabletop was. Even though the coffee menu looked just as tempting as the Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake), and some of the ingredients even had higher-quality organic certifications than just Euro-Organic, we unfortunately decided to skip the coffee there.

Hello, What can we say? We can't comment on the food because we couldn't stand it. As soon as we entered, we noticed the musty smell. It's like the smell you often get as a child when visiting elderly people with carpeted floors. When we were shown to our reserved table (first floor), the smell intensified. A couple next to us left after five minutes without ordering. We suspect the same reason. It's a real shame because the ambiance is otherwise quite nice.

We loved the warmth and welcoming service from this restaurant. Our waiter was excellent and very professional. The food we can not complain at all, was incredibly delicious and excellent portions.

We went to this restaurant based on all the 5 star reviews. We were looking for good quality authentic German food. This restaurant is kitschy, touristy, over priced and very average. I wouldn’t recommended unless you are looking for a touristy experience and want a large unsophisticated meal that looks like it would have been served in the 1970s.

The food was unfortunately only average, and the prices were not reasonable. The ambiance also did not justify such a price-performance ratio. The service, however, was very friendly and attentive.

The three of us enjoyed a delicious meal there on Monday evening at 6 pm – a couple with their dog. He was also warmly welcomed when we made the reservation, and we were recommended a quiet spot slightly elevated near the entrance, where we felt very comfortable. We started with beef consommé and garlic baguette, followed by turkey steak and roast beef with onions. We also had two non-alcoholic beers. Everything was perfectly balanced and deliciously seasoned, very well prepared. We especially want to highlight the best garlic baguette we've ever eaten anywhere in the world, including Italy – simply perfect. The homemade cheese spaetzle served with the roast beef with its delicious gravy and plenty of crispy onion rings were equally excellent. The quality of the ingredients and the preparation simply cost money, that's obvious. Life is good, but expensive. You can have it cheaper, but then it's not as good. In short, the prices were absolutely justified. The service was very friendly, the whole atmosphere was simply welcoming, warm, down-to-earth, and very pleasant. We will definitely come back here again and try the rest of the menu, but the garlic baguette and Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) are absolutely a must. We didn't tell anyone, but it was a wonderful wedding day.

We visited Fussen from Greece and it was the first place we had dinner. The exceptionally polite lady and the gentleman that served us were perfect.They also greeted us in Greek so we could feel welcome.The food was amazing.

Claims to be open until 11- but does not offer seating from 8.40 onwards, kitchen is closed by 8.45p.m. Very misleading. We visited at 8.30 and asked where could we park, to which the servers guided us and asked us to make it quick. We tried to be back as quick as possible, within 10’minutes and they denied to serve us entirely. Very very disappointing and sad way to treat tourists open to exploring the local cuisine

The best food we’ve had in Germany so far, everything was exquisitely prepared and so fresh. The garnishes were all so unique too and the antiques make the place feel cozy and special. Our waiter was also fantastic and knowledgeable and they took good care of my friend with an allergy.

It was a restaurant we were very curious about, and we felt very lucky to find a table without a reservation. We started with the beef broth soup, Ludwig II's favorite, and we loved it. I ordered the organic schnitzel, but it arrived with cheese on top of the turkey breast. The breast meat was very tough and tasteless. My wife's steak was also very dry. We weren't satisfied with the main courses at all; we had to struggle to eat them. The setting and ambiance were lovely, and our waiter was very attentive, but we weren't happy with our food choices. The prices were also quite high. We don't normally pay attention to prices, but since we didn't like it, I had to write a review.

Indeed, a local flavor in the style of bygone times. We couldn't identify a clear style. Rather, it was a hodgepodge of old things. The staff was completely overworked and could no longer live up to the restaurant's own standards. We sat for a long time in front of our empty plates, and a reordered herb butter took a very long time to arrive. The prices (main courses around €35) are unreasonably high, and the quality of the preparation is subpar. We ordered rump steak and roast beef medium and were served rare. The roast beef was served in two indefinable pieces, which couldn't be clearly identified as the sirloin. The duck breast was cooked very dark and unfortunately overcooked, approaching "well done." Supposedly fresh fried onions were tough and stuck to the teeth. A very bad potato gratin, which was reheated and then topped with cheese. The sea bream was properly fried. The accompanying potatoes were very coarse and of a floury quality. Outrageously high drink prices. When asked for wines by the glass, only Riesling and Pinot Blanc were offered in the white wine section. The country of origin, wine-growing region, and winemaker remained unmentioned. The price for a 0.2-liter carafe was between €8.50 and €8.70. Ordering dessert here was not even a discussion at the table. Despite all the owner's self-respect, no envelope was served. We were extremely disappointed and unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant felt like an intimate time capsule of what it would be like to eat at a restaurant in Füssen in the early 20th century. The service was attentive and helpful. I loved the homemade cheese dumpling soup, buttered ciabatta bread, and roast beef filet I got. Every dish was given special care to the presentation, and it was enjoyable to see what bonus garnishes came with each dish that we could eat! We chose this restaurant after a day spent exploring the castles nearby and it fit the theme of the day perfectly. Please dine at Madame Plüsch if you are in the region - we would definitely come back

We had a really nice dinner at Madame Plüsch while staying in Füssen. My wife and I both ordered the duck, which was cooked to absolute perfection — tender, flavorful, and easily one of the best meals we had on our trip. The kids stuck to fish fingers with fries, nothing fancy but exactly what they wanted, so everyone was happy. We paired our meal with a good glass of white wine, which matched the duck perfectly. The restaurant has a cozy and charming atmosphere, and even though it was quite busy on a mid-September weekday, the service was smooth, friendly, and very welcoming. We went for dinner around 6 pm without a reservation and were lucky to get a table — by the time we were leaving, the place was already full. Definitely worth planning ahead if you want to go. All in all, you really can’t visit Füssen without trying Madame Plüsch. Highly recommended!

Following the various reviews, we were very disappointed with our experience last night, 21/09/25, both with the setting, which was old-fashioned and outdated, and the food, which was too generous and bland. The welcome, however, was very pleasant; the Bulgarian waitress was very professional and warm; she deserved to work elsewhere! . Disappointing, compared to other restaurants in Füssen. Too bad.!!

Food was next level! Next. Level. Vibe was old/antique/cluttered in the best way. Very cozy dinner and the portions were generous. The food was incredible and the waitress we had last week, very sweet/dark hair, she was dealing with an obnoxious and totally belligerante old American woman at another table with grace and humility like I’ve rarely seen in real life. Surely she stepped out back and screamed into a freezer or something, I would have. This older woman was carrying on so loudly and performing so much, the entire place stood still and watched in awe and disgust. This waitress kept her cool and even stayed professional when all the tables (ours included) tried to say anything like “I’m so sorry for her you are doing great!!” She was cordial and kept it moving. Give her a raise and all the flowers! Brava brava. (Oh, and she spoke Italian with us — also ✨👏 ✨👏) Unrelated, kind of….a tiny bit of ambience music would be nice. Felt like everyone was listening to each other’s conversations, kind of awkward at times.

So , I am coming about a month after eating here, to write a review at this wonderful restaurant that we accidentally found in Füssen. My husband keeps on telling from time to time that was the best food he ever tried in Germany. So, I guess it must have been good !

Solid, tasty food. I had the cheese spaetzle. However, I wouldn't recommend it for a solo diners. You're seated at the little table by the entrance. The chef comes to everyone else's table, but he didn't bother to come upstairs for me. I'll be in Füssen for a week, but I won't be visiting this restaurant again. In the end, the bill was forgotten, even though I had asked for it. Only after I demonstratively put on my jacket did the waiter pay me attention.

We were here for lunch and sat inside because there was no room outside. The service was very friendly and professional. They took our order quickly and brought our drinks soon after. The food also arrived very quickly and was really very good. The ambiance inside is also very nice. Everything is lovingly decorated in a nostalgic style. It was delicious, and we would gladly come back.

The two of us stopped in for dinner today. We sat outside. The friendly waiter took our order. My wife ordered Kaiserschmarrn. The wait was about 30 minutes, which the waiter pointed out. After 30 minutes, the food was served to our table along with my pork neck steak. The food was very good. What we didn't like: I asked for the bill and said I wanted to pay by card, which is normal these days. The waiter went into the restaurant and came back with the words: Unfortunately, card payments are not accepted, only for amounts over €50!!!!!! I asked if he was joking, but unfortunately, he was deadly serious. Our bill was €46. It's absurd that card payments are only accepted for amounts over €50. I understand there are fees, but please, not only for amounts over €50. I was only €4 short, and yet my card was still not accepted. We won't be going to this restaurant again as a matter of principle. There are plenty of restaurants nearby that will happily accept my card for payment.

Booked as part of a birthday celebration. We both loved this restaurant. Great atmosphere with brilliant service. They really pushed the boat out for my girlfriends celebration. Her face was a picture 🥰 I'm sure that all the food and drink was of German origin. Apparently the Riesling was of top quality. I was driving so I can't comment. We would happily return if the opportunity presented itself.

The waiter was kind and attentive. The food was good (a little salty, but that's normal for Germany). The atmosphere was welcoming, but nothing special. We had lunch around 3:00 PM. We didn't have to wait to be seated or for our dishes. Wiener schnitzel, cheese spaetzle, and vegetable flan. And the delicious Kaiserschmarrn with apple puree.

We were thrilled! A truly special experience there, super friendly service and incredibly good food! Even the ice cream for dessert was homemade and exceptionally good. Prices are quite high, yes. But totally justified for the quality! It's not an everyday restaurant where you can just grab a quick bite to eat, but if you want to treat yourself, this is the place to be! The decor is great, with lots of visual stimuli (positive), which is balanced by the tranquility there. Everyone was talking relatively quietly, and the music was soft...a blessing for sensitive people. We'll be back!♥️

Very centrally located in Füssen, this old-fashioned yet very charming place, just the way I like it, has a traditional feel, a family atmosphere, and a friendly atmosphere. The girl serving is lovely and even speaks a little Italian, and the service is quick. We ate very well. It was raining and cold, so I warmed up with an excellent soup, a delicious salad with yogurt sauce, generous and very tasty spaetzle, and a delicious duck with steamed vegetables. Finally, lots of vegetables, which are hard to find abroad. The price was fair, water was very expensive, as in all foreign countries. Bread wasn't available, but they'll bring it to you if you ask. Recommended.

A superb and lovingly designed ambiance that invites you to linger. We were given a small, private tour of the upstairs dining rooms, as they weren't being served the evening of our visit. You can definitely tell that the chef puts his heart and soul into his restaurant. The food was truly delicious, and you can taste the quality of what you're served. I'm willing to pay a higher price for this quality and the regionality of the products. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Füssen. Keep up the good work! 😊

It's quite an experience! Excellent service, great service, and extremely friendly. It was incredibly busy, and we had to wait a long time for our food. But the atmosphere and charm made for a truly unique evening. We really enjoyed it, but don't expect miracles in terms of food. You have to experience this while you're there and judge for yourself 😁

The worst experience ever. We visited the restaurant due to good reviews. They give us a table 10 min after we had asked for, although there were plenty of free tables at that time. Then we were waiting for 1h 30min and the main dishes had not come yet. To note that 2 other tables that had come after us had their plates after they complaint. We left this horrible place without eating.

We can only say THANK YOU for this very successful visit. The service was the best and most cordial we've ever experienced. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. Sure, the restaurant isn't very big, and the space isn't generous, but it's very cozy and authentic. We highly recommend it.

A wonderful visit to Madame Plüsch! The nostalgic 1920s-style ambiance is truly unique and immediately transports you to another era. The restaurant was immaculately clean and well-maintained. The menu may be limited, but that's definitely an advantage here – quality over quantity. We were particularly impressed by the homemade cheese spaetzle, which were authentically prepared regionally and simply delicious. You can tell that the food here is still made with fresh, regional ingredients. The small but fine menu focuses on the essentials and offers authentic Allgäu specialties. Each dish was lovingly prepared and deliciously delicious. The unique flair of the "Golden Twenties" makes every visit a special experience. The atmosphere here is just right – from the nostalgic decor to the regional cuisine. A clear recommendation for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Allgäu cuisine in an exceptional setting!

The chef must be a god. Very special food at a good price & extremely delicious. Never eaten anything like this before in a restaurant. Everything is fresh, not the run-of-the-mill frozen food you'd find in any other restaurant. I'm thrilled.

We went for dinner and the food was decent. The portion was generous, and the dishes we ordered were good but not exceptional (roasted Bavarian duck and König Ludwig Schnitzel). We didn't like that they wouldn't give us tap water. The restaurant has a quaint decor.

We waited 30 minutes to order. Another hour for the appetizer. Another hour for the main course. The waiter apologized, and after another 20 minutes, we were finally allowed to pay. Our drinks were on the house as an apology. The food wasn't good value for money.

We were able to place our order after 30 minutes, and after another hour, we received our starters. After we'd finished the starter, we had to wait another hour for the main course. In contrast to the high prices, the quality of the food was rather homely. I had a salad with turkey strips; the meat had been in the pan for far too long and was therefore bone dry. After we complained, the server apologized several times. This made us feel a bit more at peace.

If you have a lot of time and don't mind waiting 2 hours for your food, you can go there to eat.

The food was quite expensive, but tasted quite good. The tables were quite small, and we had very little space to park our stroller.

We did not make a booking but they managed to squeeze us in no problems despite the busy restaurant. The service was great, even providing toys for my son to play with while we waited for dinner. The meals were great ans the service was great too. For something as simple as garlic bread, it was great- my husband said it was THE BEST he’d eaten! All meals were great.

We had the potato soup and spaetzle, which were simply delicious, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with love and freshness. The service was friendly and very attentive to the guests. I visited here for the second time in years and found the restaurant's style unique and the service truly excellent! However, the food was a bit lacking this time, as the duck was a bit dry and the roast beef was a bit stringy. It was still very tasty, but of course, you have to expect something for that price, and it didn't quite live up to expectations this time. We'll be back anyway.

The food was a real highlight: I had a baked turkey breast with cheese and potato gratin – absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was also very friendly and attentive. I was particularly impressed by the courteous waitress, which rounded off the evening pleasantly. My only minor criticism: the wine wasn't automatically refilled – but that's really nitpicking at a high level. All in all, a thoroughly successful evening. I'll definitely be back!

My wife and I visited for the first time today. We came across the restaurant through the very positive reviews and can confirm them 100%. The facility has a special flair, the employees are friendly, courteous and more than professional. Der alte Charme des Restaurants ist mal was ganz anderes und eine coole Erfahrung. Das Essen war excellent mit tollen regionalen Produkten. Auch eine tolle Weinkarte und eine große Auswahl an Drinks. Der Dry Martini ist nur zu empfehlen ;-) der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend und man merkt das sie mit Liebe zur Gastro bei der Sache sind. Vielen Dank für den tollen Abend! Ambience not really great, service average and the food not great either. Other guests sometimes left almost half of it on their plates. Definitely not recommended for the price.
