Madame Mai Hamburg in Hamburg

We are always thrilled. The tapas are very tasty. My favorites: curry soup, spring rolls (unbeatable), teriyaki salmon and sweet potato fries. Kind regards and see you again soon.

This is likely the best Asian-fusion place in Hamburg! The Vietnamese tapas are really tasty and while other places offer dishes like tempura avocado, crispy, chicken fingers. And udons as well, I find these to be the best. They are also very pleasantly arranged. Staff is bet friendly too. Great place for a nice dinner with friends or a romantic dinner with your partner.

Get a seat in the middle of the aisle. Some of the food was cold. Food was average.. all you can eat flair in expensive.

Solid Asian - but I think there are much more authentic ones. Nevertheless, of course it tasted very good, service was friendly and the atmosphere is also very nice.

I'm currently in Hamburg for work and was around the corner in a wonderful coffee roastery and by chance I walked past Madame Mai. The store looks very novel from the outside, the great large windows and the beautiful furnishings immediately invite you. The service was very good and friendly, since I was there around lunchtime, there was still the lunch menu with very good prices and a small selection from the otherwise slightly different menu. The food came to the table quickly, it was fresh, tasty and very hot. I was super happy and will definitely come back again.

Overall, everything tasted good. No taste surprise but used to Vietnamese cuisine, well presented. Fusion cuisine, however, is not the food. We chose several tapas that don't qualify as fusion tapas. Salmon with teriyaki sauce or chicken and avocado baked with mayo sauce are often available at Asian restaurants. The price is too high for predominantly fried products and the effort behind the dishes. Unfortunately, the room is too loud and the tables are placed very close together so that you basically eat with your neighbor at the table ;)

I've been here very regularly so far. Unfortunately, success went to the team's head. Now you're just a number. The service is more than unfriendly. It's best to order everything at once and clear the table quickly. Too bad

A great restaurant with a really nice atmosphere, delicious, varied food and friendly waiters. Unfortunately, despite making a reservation at 8:30 p.m., we had to wait about 15 minutes in the entrance area - as did a handful of other people with reservations.

Unfortunately I don't understand the very good reviews here. The teriyaki salmon was very dry and tasteless. The starter coconut chicken was not crispy and very greasy. Other dishes were also very poor quality and tasteless. It was my first and last visit to this restaurant. Not recommended. Too bad

Went here for the first time today at lunchtime with a group of 7 people. Very nice modern atmosphere. The best way to get here is on foot. There are hardly any parking spaces. Toilets on the upper floor. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was good. There are also vegetarian dishes. Wheelchair accessible entrance. I can recommend the crispy wonton. I'd love to come back.

Delicious dishes, but they didn't meet our expectations of fusion cuisine. The tapas still tasted good and we filled up well with 6 tapas + 1 side dish. Service was friendly and quick. We found it annoying that all the tables were placed very close together - private conversations were therefore only possible to a limited extent.

An evening in “Madame Mai” – light and shadow! The menu was varied and we decided to try different dishes to get a comprehensive impression. Crispy chicken! The texture was initially promising, but upon consumption a significant flaw became apparent: each of the four pieces was riddled with bone fragments, making eating much more difficult. Given the description, I would have expected that only high quality, boneless chicken would be used. The disappointment continued with the other dishes too. The beef was cooked to perfection, but was riddled with tendons and fat - inedible. Such a lack of quality is surprisingly disappointing. The service - not very convincing: I informed the waitress at the beginning about my coriander allergy and asked for an alternative sauce without coriander. But this request was rejected with a categorical “That’s not possible”. Only after persistent asking did I finally receive teriyaki sauce. Despite my explicit information about the coriander intolerance, there were fresh coriander leaves in my salad. Such a mistake is not only unprofessional but potentially dangerous. I would have expected much more sensitivity and attention here. Aside from the cuisine and service, the atmosphere of a restaurant is a crucial factor. However, this was clouded by the behavior of the operators: During our stay, the restaurant owners sat in the same room, observed the guests - including us - and responded to constructive criticism with disapproving looks. Such behavior is inappropriate and contradicts a welcoming corporate culture. Recommendation: Anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable Asian experience will be much better off in other restaurants. Unfortunately, “Madame Mai” falls far short of expectations and urgently needs an overhaul – both in the kitchen and in dealing with guests.

To be honest, I don't write reviews often, but if something pleasantly surprises or disappoints me, I do it. Unfortunately there was a big disappointment here. My co-worker and I were there yesterday and wanted to chat for a bit, so we asked if we could sit upstairs as it was quieter up there. The gentleman on duty told us that unfortunately this wasn't possible because they had reservations from 2 p.m. We were there until 3:30 p.m. and it was empty up there the whole time. As for the food, there is a lunch menu consisting of a meal and a coke. I asked if I could swap the coke for water, I was told this wasn't possible. Only Cola or Cola Zero is offered. In this situation, I decided to take the regular meal off the menu and ordered a bottle of water while my colleague ordered a menu meal. The food came after maybe 3 minutes? Shock, I already knew it was warmed up. And not only that, unfortunately the tofu was breaded and obviously fried several times in fat. Other than that, our meals didn't really differ, apart from an extra portion of zucchini for my co-worker. I only ate 10-15% of it because I was hungry, but it didn't taste good at all. Unfortunately, I went to the gym that evening to run, but I felt like what was in my stomach was coming up my throat. I ended up throwing up at home. I absolutely cannot recommend this place.

The food was quite good so far. The service was OK. We had to wait a relatively long time at the entrance until we were taken to our reserved tables and then it took another 20 minutes until they even accepted our order. After that everything went very quickly, the food arrived shortly after we ordered and we were very happy with it. We enjoyed it deliciously. The prices were also cheap even compared to other restaurants. We would definitely come back.

We had high expectations, when we arrived. Unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed. We share five of the tapas and three of the sushi. The portions were a little smaller than what tapas are normally. But the quality of the meat was pretty decent. The sushi we had was alright. We ordered cocktails which we waited 25 minutes for but when they arrived were really good. The waiter unfortunately was very unfriendly and really rude, not just to us but other tables too. In fact there was an argument earlier on in our dining experience with him and another customer.

Service is a bit slow. The food is ok, but I can't justify it for the prices. We booked via website and went, but still had to wait 10 min to get seats.

We were there with 4 people. The aperitif mistakenly came at the same time as the first course. The food was ok, but not outstanding in our opinion. The wine ordered for the second course came much too late. We were almost finished with the food. Everything was very hectic and there was a high shift turnover of guests. High ambient noise. Since the food is not very high for Hamburg standards, the price-performance ratio was ok. If you like it that way, you're in good hands.

Nice ambience! Delicious food & reasonably priced. The waiters were a bit understaffed, which is why we always had to actively approach the employees if we needed something. But it was limited and therefore had no influence on our good experience :)

Simply wow and impressive. When you enter the restaurant it is very modern and at the same time cozy and yet very very chic and the ambience is very artistic. I was more than satisfied with my companion. It's easy to have a conversation in because it's set up in such a way that even though everything is very open, you still have a cozy atmosphere. The food was super tasty because it was very natural with large portions and yet contained very expensive ingredients. We were amazed at the price. The waitress was professional with a smile on her face and very personable. If I ever come back to Hamburg I would visit this place again and look forward to it. My tip: listen to the daily recommendation! Mihihihi

Wir waren spontan mit 8 Leuten vor Ort und hatten Glück einen Tisch zu bekommen. Da die Auswahl sehr groß ist haben wir den Kellner gebeten, uns einen bunten Mix zusammenzustellen. Wir waren begeistert über die verschiedenen Gerichte und die Qualität. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Als kleiner Tipp ich würde weiter Rotweine mit auf die Karte nehmen.

The food is quite good, the ambience is a matter of taste. I wouldn't go there again because the service was unsatisfactory. A lot. As soon as you had your first drink you had to call someone to the table by shouting and waving. The level remained this way until the bill was paid. “Sorry for disturbing you,” you almost want to say as you walk out. It's a shame, that made the evening more annoying than fun. And the bill would have been significantly higher if we guests had been well entertained 🤷‍♀️

I've had lunch there several times. The food is always very tasty and of good quality. The waitresses are nice and you are served quickly. The restaurant is cozy and nicely decorated. Keep it up and I'll be happy to come back!

Great tasty dishes. But creative and the concept of lots of small dishes really works. The drinks and food also came very quickly. Everything very professional with nice service. We recommend making a reservation, although we lucked out spontaneously.

Food is quite tasty, the four of us ate a selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian tapas, a bit monotonous in a way, as a lot of it was in the fried direction. Unfortunately, this is the second time we have had problems with items on the invoice that were not delivered. When asked about this, the waiter reacted relatively unfriendly and it took a lot of back and forth until the item was removed from the bill.

The high reviews had us starting in a good mood. Spoiler, unfortunately our selection of the 8 starters and the main courses were still convincing. The only highlight is the homemade lemonade. The service was friendly, but there was hardly any time.

We celebrated our Christmas party here with 8 people and were thrilled! Unfortunately the table wasn't set when we arrived, but that didn't particularly bother us! We had the big great wooden table upstairs and can highly recommend it! You could have a good conversation at a comfortable volume! The food was delicious and beautifully prepared! Very nicely decorated shop with a great selection of food. (Almost) all of the dishes were accompanied by photos, which gave you a very good overview. There was a wide variety of tapas and starters, including sushi. These were delicious and are recommended. The main course was also good but not as outstanding as the other food, but it was inexpensive. Definitely a recommendation to take a look there.

I’m very surprised by such a high rating of the place, unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The service is far from welcoming, we came to a completely empty restaurant, we were offered the most uncomfortable table and very reluctantly moved to a table for 4 people (there were three of us). The food is average, did not cause any special delight. The rolls were falling apart. The worst thing is that my daughter got food poisoning and spent the next day vomiting and feeling weak, so I have doubts about the storage conditions of the products.

We discovered Madame May via TikTok - my wife had seen some posts in which the restaurant was extremely hyped. This made us curious and we immediately reserved a table for 9 p.m. Unfortunately, our expectations were not entirely met. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait until 9:45 p.m. for our seat, which was a bit disappointing. We were offered an apology champagne, but that didn't really make up for the long wait. Luckily the food came quickly, the taste was okay, but we couldn't quite understand the TikTok hype. It was good, but unfortunately that special something was missing. What was positive, however, was that we were given 10% off the bill for the inconvenience. This was a nice gesture and showed that the staff cared about the service. Nevertheless, the impression remains that price and performance were not entirely in balance. Maybe our expectations were too high due to the social media hype - for us it remains a mixed experience.

The meat was tender and the sauce was really delicious!! The udon was delicious, and the curry and shrimp went well together and were delicious! The starters were a bit salty, but still delicious! I recommend it Was very nice!! I really liked all food. Coco Chicken and goza was a bit salty for me, but still yummy. I recommend :)

We had reserved because the hotel was nearby and were very impressed. Very tasty food, also visually great, cozy modern furnishings, you can sit here for longer. The homemade lemonades were all very good too. Only the cocktails were a touch too alcoholic for me personally, but my three companions were very happy with theirs. You are also welcome as a Harry Potter fan, there were pennants at the entrance, a broom and "Wizards welcome" :) would be happy to come back.

I actually wanted to eat Thai food, but it was probably Vietnamese food. But it was very tasty.

The food was top. The service was okay, but still could be improved. The ambience is actually quite nice, unfortunately there are Harry Potter things everywhere in the lower area (due to the promotion) that didn't correspond to it modern kitchen or other furnishing style.

The food at Madame Mai tastes great! Despite reservations, we unfortunately had to wait a little and it was very hectic. But once we ordered, the food arrived super (!) quickly. The selection is large and everything tasted fantastic. The selection also tempted us to order too much. The recommendation of three tapas plus a side dish is absolutely sufficient. Gladly again!

The atmosphere at Madame Mai is appealing and the service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn't entirely convince us. The chicken was a bit dry and heavily fried, which lost some of the flavor. Very nice restaurant, delicious and unusual dishes at fair prices. Great ambience. Larger napkins that provide splash protection for more than just one thigh would be nice. And dishes with scampi should be served with lemon water or at least a refreshing towel.

Meine Frau und ich wollten schon lange ins Madame Mai gehen. Letzte freitag war es soweit und wir nahmen ein Freund mit. Der Raum ist sehr schon eingerichtet, das Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und das Essen ist grossartig und.... es war nicht teuer. Es war unsere erste Mal und bestimmt nicht das Letzte. Wer asiatisches Essen mag muss umbedingt ins Madame Mai gehen, ihr werdet es nicht bedauern.

We loved the atmosphere of the location when we walked in. It's definitely pretty and stylishly decorated there. We thought the tapas were great, but the ice teas didn't convince us. The main dishes are very expensive at over €20 and (in our opinion) not very special. It was tasty - yes - but for the price we expected more in terms of taste. The service is not outstanding. The female waiter was friendly, but we were charged by a gentleman who was rude and left us with a bad impression. We felt uncomfortable leaving the restaurant and will not visit this restaurant again.

A great restaurant with exceptionally good food. The combination of Asian cuisine with Mediterranean cuisine (Spanish and Italian) is great. We felt very comfortable. The service was very nice and the food came to the table extremely quickly (almost too quickly😉). The quality is excellent.

The service is friendly and the drinks menu is plentiful, but the food is manageable. Red curry soup was very good, while sushi was served with a lot of sweet mayonnaise and served without soy sauce and therefore came across as not very savory. Chicken roll was better. Surprisingly few types of tea were on the menu, so I wasn't able to find a suitable drink.

Simply wonderfull! We just left the Hi-Way at lunch time (friday), found parking, get nice food.. and jump up on Hi-Way again. Maybe faster then McDonald's on roads.. :). Maybe we were just lucky, but I will try it again. I cannot complain on anything.

Reserved in advance as we wanted to make sure we got a spot. That worked wonderfully. Start the evening with a cocktail. As for food, a variety of tapas and sushi. The food was ok. Nothing special, but good. Lots of little flies were annoying. We sat against the planted wall. The flies also felt comfortable there. After about 1.5 hours, we had finished our meal and another drink and actually wanted to order dessert and coffee, when we were asked to leave the table. We could sit on a sofa upstairs. Sorry, but that's not how we imagined it. Especially since the service beforehand was inattentive and we couldn't order food and drinks earlier than we did. A cozy evening is different.

Visited Madame Mai today and had a delicious meal. Nice restaurant and great decor. We got the menu, at first I thought it was a magazine. It takes a bit of getting used to. The starters and appetizers in the fusion cuisine are not the same as in the traditional Chinese restaurant 🥢 Had 7 dim sum/tapas starters. Mango salad, which unfortunately had no pizzazz, was missing fish sauce and chilli oil. A curry soup with vegetables and tofu, very tasty. One duck breast in soy sauce with red pepper. Beef in a thickened soy sauce. 4 dumplings with shrimp 🍤also very little spicy. Udon noodles in a soy sauce, and once 🍠 sweet potato fries with dip. Unfortunately there is no typical "Wan Tan" soup, which is actually typical for Chinese restaurants and it's a shame that it's missing ☹ Prices are reasonable, we didn't have any main courses. If you want traditional dim sum you have to make compromises here. Overall, just try it out for yourself! We'll come back again to test the main dishes!
