Absolutely delicious and recommended, the tapas were all delicious and prices were completely appropriate for the quality. Service was also courteous, friendly, I'll definitely be back!

The salmon tartare is particularly delicious. Been there twice and both times the waiters reacted somewhat strangely to a tip, although you're not sure whether it was too little or too much or whether it wasn't appropriate there at all? At least when I asked if everything was okay, I received a dry nod. But that doesn't affect the freshness or taste of the food, it's really excellent there. If it stays that way, I can imagine that we'll come over there to eat more often. The ambience is sufficiently chic for dining, not all chairs are equally comfortable.

Food great, service unfortunately flop. The restaurant was almost empty. It took 20 minutes before we could order the aperitif. The drinks came almost at the same time as the food. But the food was tasty and plentiful

Price performance is off, there are many better Asian restaurants with better food at nicer prices. The map is small but not very balanced. Cocktails are quite okay. Coco chicken was chip shop level. But we still ate everything. Hehe...

Had the dish Daimyo Udon (No. 82) The meat was tough… had to chew for a long time to get it down.. The entrecôte had fat edges, which I personally don't like at all... shouldn't be on an entrecôte either... The ambience has nothing Asian… I also don't like it when the head waiter sits right at the entrance and looks at the customer from bottom to top with a strict facial expression... a friendly reception looks different...

Madame Mai offers creative fusion cuisine with Asian and European influences. The dishes taste great and the vegetarian options in particular are varied. The atmosphere is modern and inviting. The only downside was the service. He was friendly but could have been a little more attentive, but overall a very pleasant visit

There were six of us and we ate and drank well. But we were extremely disappointed with the cocktails: One cocktail in particular tasted extremely artificial. When they asked what was in it, it quickly became clear: they often use syrup for flavor. However, this is not stated in the ingredients in the menu. Unfortunately, these tasted so disgusting that we decided to ask. However, our polite request to exchange the drinks was rejected by the restaurant manager. It's our own fault, because we could have read from the description what was in the cocktail. But that's exactly the problem: incorrect description. It's not there. In the end we were offered to cancel only two drinks if we ordered five new ones at the same time. Ultimately it's all about cocktails and making them really isn't expensive compared to the price. Service was very nice but in the end we were left with disappointed guests. It's a shame, we definitely won't be coming back.

I used to really love the restaurant, but unfortunately they have changed their menu almost completely and increased the prices by 1/3. The food wasn't nearly as good. We had the noodles NO. 82 (too soft) with steak (lots of fat). The sushi was a 10/10 though. The salmon teriyaki was also quite good. The store is very nicely decorated and the staff is also very nice.

More appearance than reality. A very nicely decorated and modern restaurant in Altona. Which with an extremely aesthetic menu really left you wanting more. The service, lots of very young people. Sometimes very taciturn and distant, bordering on unfriendly. The drinks that I have never seen or tried anywhere before definitely deserve a positive mention. Creative and unusual “cocktails”. The food is beautifully presented, but that's about it. Everything has a certain basic taste. The fried (somehow it feels like almost everything) tastes completely the same. Beef cold and rather inferior in taste. Sauces all follow the same pattern. Only the mango salad was really delicious, fresh and tasty. It looks like a system restaurant at a high level and aesthetically arranged. Unfortunately, the concept didn't convince us.

Super nice restaurant that we discovered by chance after a long day. Very tastefully furnished and designed. Innovative menu with many vegan/vegetarian dishes and delicious drinks. Service was super attentive and everything was a success. Really highly recommended! :)

Simply a special taste experience. Already the dumplings and the teriyaki salmon as a starter and then the udon noodles with beef and the mango coconut rice as dessert. Everything is simply incredibly delicious. We'd love to come back.

The food was quite good and was served quickly. Unfortunately, the service ruined our taste experience. When we paid we were actively asked to leave a tip by mentioning the price of the food three times in a row. I also said three times that I wanted to pay by card. After the waitress realized that no tip had been given, she became angry and loudly cleared our table. An absolute disgrace.

A dream! Very tasty food, which comes to the table very quickly after ordering. We recommend the tapas version, where the whole table is full of great delicacies. A small minus is the 2-hour reservation block, so you have to leave because the table is still reserved and a comfortable end with drinks is not quite possible. Still, it's worth coming here and trying it out.

Madame Mai – High-quality ambience with mixed culinary impressions Since Madame Mai is part of Maison Mai, it was a must for us to try it out. Of course, sushi was a must - we ordered three different types. Unfortunately, they didn't really convince us. The very intense, spicy aftertaste wasn't to our liking, which is why the sushi doesn't make the top 10 for us. Things were completely different with the tapas: they were the highlight of the evening! Excellent in taste and definitely something we would happily order again. The ambience is beautifully designed and appears to be of high quality – a successful mix of fine dining and a relaxed restaurant. In terms of price, Madame Mai is in the upper segment, which is underlined by the atmosphere and design. Overall, a stylish place with light and shadow in the kitchen.

I can only recommend this place, every time I come to Hamburg I absolutely have to stop by here. Spectacular cocktails and simply top-notch food. I have never eaten such tender meat, it melted in your mouth. The pasta with prawns and the tapas were all exceptional. Congratulations to the whole team. I forgot, even though the place was full. Auf Grund der guten Bewertungen wollten auch wir die Küche des Restaurants genießen. Leider wurden wir damit sehr enttäuscht. Doch zum Anfang - die Begrüßung beim Betreten des Restaurants war freundlich und auch die Küche und der Service war sehr schnell. Die gewählten Vorspeisen waren ok und entsprachen unseren Erwartungen an die asiatische Küche. Bei den Hauptspeisen hatte man versucht, asiatische Zutaten mit denen anderer Küchen zu fusionieren. Leider entsprach das Ergebnis geschmacklich nicht unseren Erwartungen. Das Lachsfilet wurde mit einem rohen Kern serviert. Leider wussten wir nicht, dass alles "Medium" zubereitet wird. Der Service hat uns auch nicht nach der Garstufe gefragt. Das Entrecote war leider trotz dieser Garstufe zäh. Die Udon - Nudeln hatten keine Geschmacksnote. Hier kann das Küchenteam sicher noch einiges verbessern.

The staff was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was exceptional - the choice of dishes is varied and creative, with fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. The sushi and the sticky rice for dessert were particularly good - it was a real treat! Madame Mia not only offers fantastic cuisine, but also a great ambience that invites you to relax and enjoy. Definitely a place I would recommend to anyone in Hamburg – I would love to come back!

The food wasn't very imaginative, so I expected much more. We had to share a small table with 5 people and had reserved in advance. Unfortunately the price is also excessive. It's a shame, we definitely won't be coming back. Oh yes, the staff was nice, the atmosphere was ok.

We spontaneously wanted to go out for something to eat at 5 p.m., half the shop was empty. Apparently everything is reserved from 6 p.m. However, a table could have been reserved online. Maybe they just don't want small children there, I don't know. It's a shame, we won't be coming back.

Not recommended at all. Service is abysmally poor because it doesn't exist at all. We had to make ourselves noticeable to get someone to take the order. Food miserable. Cold udon noodles. Cold, dry rice. Cold, dry duck breast. Cheapest frozen salmon and then cooked dry. Everything just tasted like the cheapest over-salted soy sauce. Over €80 for nothing!!! Every Asian street snack is better. And BE CAREFUL you will be ripped off when it comes to prices. The prices on the bill are sometimes €1.50 more expensive than listed on the menu!!! Can't understand the positive reviews at all. ONCE AND NEVER AGAIN! Really a shame...

It was my brother's birthday and there were five of us here. We had reserved in advance and that was absolutely correct. It was super crowded. The waitress was really incredibly friendly and thanked us so often. All of our wishes were fulfilled and we would like to come back. The highlight was the piano accompaniment to the main course. I can only recommend it.

We are always thrilled. The tapas are very tasty. My favorites: curry soup, spring rolls (unbeatable), teriyaki salmon and sweet potato fries. Kind regards and see you again soon.

This is likely the best Asian-fusion place in Hamburg! The Vietnamese tapas are really tasty and while other places offer dishes like tempura avocado, crispy, chicken fingers. And udons as well, I find these to be the best. They are also very pleasantly arranged. Staff is bet friendly too. Great place for a nice dinner with friends or a romantic dinner with your partner.

Get a seat in the middle of the aisle. Some of the food was cold. Food was average.. all you can eat flair in expensive.

Allerdings sind die Tische sehr eng gestellt, sodass man sich kaum privat unterhalten kann und das Gefühl hat, direkt neben den Nachbarn zu sitzen – das könnte angenehmer gelöst werden. Die asiatischen Tapas sind geschmacklich gut, allerdings entsprechen sie eher klassischen Gerichten als einer echten Fusion-Küche. Viele Speisen bestehen aus frittierten Komponenten mit bekannten Soßen, was etwas mehr Raffinesse erwarten lässt. Angesichts dessen wirken die Preise für ein asiatisches Restaurant in Ottensen etwas hoch. Trotzdem wünsche ich dem Team weiterhin viel Erfolg! Konstruktives Feedback dient der Weiterentwicklung – es wäre schade, wenn kritische, aber faire Rezensionen einfach gelöscht würden.

Overall, everything tasted good. No taste surprise but used to Vietnamese cuisine, well presented. Fusion cuisine, however, is not the food. We chose several tapas that don't qualify as fusion tapas. Salmon with teriyaki sauce or chicken and avocado baked with mayo sauce are often available at Asian restaurants. The price is too high for predominantly fried products and the effort behind the dishes. Unfortunately, the room is too loud and the tables are placed very close together so that you basically eat with your neighbor at the table ;)

I'm currently in Hamburg for work and was around the corner in a wonderful coffee roastery and by chance I walked past Madame Mai. The store looks very novel from the outside, the great large windows and the beautiful furnishings immediately invite you. The service was very good and friendly, since I was there around lunchtime, there was still the lunch menu with very good prices and a small selection from the otherwise slightly different menu. The food came to the table quickly, it was fresh, tasty and very hot. I was super happy and will definitely come back again.

I've been here very regularly so far. Unfortunately, success went to the team's head. Now you're just a number. The service is more than unfriendly. It's best to order everything at once and clear the table quickly. Too bad

A great restaurant with a really nice atmosphere, delicious, varied food and friendly waiters. Unfortunately, despite making a reservation at 8:30 p.m., we had to wait about 15 minutes in the entrance area - as did a handful of other people with reservations.

Unfortunately I don't understand the very good reviews here. The teriyaki salmon was very dry and tasteless. The starter coconut chicken was not crispy and very greasy. Other dishes were also very poor quality and tasteless. It was my first and last visit to this restaurant. Not recommended. Too bad

Went here for the first time today at lunchtime with a group of 7 people. Very nice modern atmosphere. The best way to get here is on foot. There are hardly any parking spaces. Toilets on the upper floor. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was good. There are also vegetarian dishes. Wheelchair accessible entrance. I can recommend the crispy wonton. I'd love to come back.

Delicious dishes, but they didn't meet our expectations of fusion cuisine. The tapas still tasted good and we filled up well with 6 tapas + 1 side dish. Service was friendly and quick. We found it annoying that all the tables were placed very close together - private conversations were therefore only possible to a limited extent.

An evening in “Madame Mai” – light and shadow! The menu was varied and we decided to try different dishes to get a comprehensive impression. Crispy chicken! The texture was initially promising, but upon consumption a significant flaw became apparent: each of the four pieces was riddled with bone fragments, making eating much more difficult. Given the description, I would have expected that only high quality, boneless chicken would be used. The disappointment continued with the other dishes too. The beef was cooked to perfection, but was riddled with tendons and fat - inedible. Such a lack of quality is surprisingly disappointing. The service - not very convincing: I informed the waitress at the beginning about my coriander allergy and asked for an alternative sauce without coriander. But this request was rejected with a categorical “That’s not possible”. Only after persistent asking did I finally receive teriyaki sauce. Despite my explicit information about the coriander intolerance, there were fresh coriander leaves in my salad. Such a mistake is not only unprofessional but potentially dangerous. I would have expected much more sensitivity and attention here. Aside from the cuisine and service, the atmosphere of a restaurant is a crucial factor. However, this was clouded by the behavior of the operators: During our stay, the restaurant owners sat in the same room, observed the guests - including us - and responded to constructive criticism with disapproving looks. Such behavior is inappropriate and contradicts a welcoming corporate culture. Recommendation: Anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable Asian experience will be much better off in other restaurants. Unfortunately, “Madame Mai” falls far short of expectations and urgently needs an overhaul – both in the kitchen and in dealing with guests.

To be honest, I don't write reviews often, but if something pleasantly surprises or disappoints me, I do it. Unfortunately there was a big disappointment here. My co-worker and I were there yesterday and wanted to chat for a bit, so we asked if we could sit upstairs as it was quieter up there. The gentleman on duty told us that unfortunately this wasn't possible because they had reservations from 2 p.m. We were there until 3:30 p.m. and it was empty up there the whole time. As for the food, there is a lunch menu consisting of a meal and a coke. I asked if I could swap the coke for water, I was told this wasn't possible. Only Cola or Cola Zero is offered. In this situation, I decided to take the regular meal off the menu and ordered a bottle of water while my colleague ordered a menu meal. The food came after maybe 3 minutes? Shock, I already knew it was warmed up. And not only that, unfortunately the tofu was breaded and obviously fried several times in fat. Other than that, our meals didn't really differ, apart from an extra portion of zucchini for my co-worker. I only ate 10-15% of it because I was hungry, but it didn't taste good at all. Unfortunately, I went to the gym that evening to run, but I felt like what was in my stomach was coming up my throat. I ended up throwing up at home. I absolutely cannot recommend this place.

The food was quite good so far. The service was OK. We had to wait a relatively long time at the entrance until we were taken to our reserved tables and then it took another 20 minutes until they even accepted our order. After that everything went very quickly, the food arrived shortly after we ordered and we were very happy with it. We enjoyed it deliciously. The prices were also cheap even compared to other restaurants. We would definitely come back.

We had high expectations, when we arrived. Unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed. We share five of the tapas and three of the sushi. The portions were a little smaller than what tapas are normally. But the quality of the meat was pretty decent. The sushi we had was alright. We ordered cocktails which we waited 25 minutes for but when they arrived were really good. The waiter unfortunately was very unfriendly and really rude, not just to us but other tables too. In fact there was an argument earlier on in our dining experience with him and another customer.

We were there with 4 people. The aperitif mistakenly came at the same time as the first course. The food was ok, but not outstanding in our opinion. The wine ordered for the second course came much too late. We were almost finished with the food. Everything was very hectic and there was a high shift turnover of guests. High ambient noise. Since the food is not very high for Hamburg standards, the price-performance ratio was ok. If you like it that way, you're in good hands.

Simply wow and impressive. When you enter the restaurant it is very modern and at the same time cozy and yet very very chic and the ambience is very artistic. I was more than satisfied with my companion. It's easy to have a conversation in because it's set up in such a way that even though everything is very open, you still have a cozy atmosphere. The food was super tasty because it was very natural with large portions and yet contained very expensive ingredients. We were amazed at the price. The waitress was professional with a smile on her face and very personable. If I ever come back to Hamburg I would visit this place again and look forward to it. My tip: listen to the daily recommendation! Mihihihi

Wir waren spontan mit 8 Leuten vor Ort und hatten Glück einen Tisch zu bekommen. Da die Auswahl sehr groß ist haben wir den Kellner gebeten, uns einen bunten Mix zusammenzustellen. Wir waren begeistert über die verschiedenen Gerichte und die Qualität. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Als kleiner Tipp ich würde weiter Rotweine mit auf die Karte nehmen.

The food is quite good, the ambience is a matter of taste. I wouldn't go there again because the service was unsatisfactory. A lot. As soon as you had your first drink you had to call someone to the table by shouting and waving. The level remained this way until the bill was paid. “Sorry for disturbing you,” you almost want to say as you walk out. It's a shame, that made the evening more annoying than fun. And the bill would have been significantly higher if we guests had been well entertained 🤷‍♀️

Food is quite tasty, the four of us ate a selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian tapas, a bit monotonous in a way, as a lot of it was in the fried direction. Unfortunately, this is the second time we have had problems with items on the invoice that were not delivered. When asked about this, the waiter reacted relatively unfriendly and it took a lot of back and forth until the item was removed from the bill.
