All the appetizers were served at once at a small table, but the real kicker was the outrageous insistence on a tip when paying. That's only appropriate if everything was better than just good, especially the service, which unfortunately was below average.

We visited Madama Mai yesterday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, as well as the selection and freshness of the food. Everything was very appealing and lovingly presented. Our only criticism: It was quite chilly downstairs. With outside temperatures of only 2 degrees Celsius, we would have expected the radiators to be on – especially since we were sitting right next to them and they were completely off. The service was exceptionally friendly, although communication was a little difficult as the server doesn't yet speak German fluently. Nevertheless, we will definitely be back! It was a truly wonderful experience and something a little different.

I went here for lunch today. The service and atmosphere were good. The M1 dish (Lemongrass & Chili) was disappointing. The vegetables were overcooked and grayish, and the dish had no real flavor, neither of lemongrass nor of Asian cuisine. It was spicy, though. In that respect, it was unfortunately worse than about 90% of the basic Asian takeaways in Hamburg. You can get much better quality and flavor elsewhere. Let's hope this was an exception; at least the reviews are otherwise quite positive.

It was okay, but I don't need to go back anytime soon. There were six of us sitting at one table, which was quite cramped and rather uncomfortable. Consequently, the small table was overloaded with plates, bowls, and so on. The staff was friendly but more relaxed than attentive; instead of asking if we needed anything, we had to repeatedly ask and remind them about missing orders. The quality of the food was okay, and the price was reasonable, but there's definitely room for improvement.

All in all, a fantastic dining experience. The service was very attentive and helpful from start to finish. The Asian tapas for starters were excellent. The main course exceeded every expectation: entrecoté with udon noodles in wasabi butter with oyster mushrooms. To finish, there was an excellent dessert. Anyone who has ever tried mango sticky rice in Thailand will definitely enjoy it. The atmosphere is pleasant, even despite the large number of guests. The menu is designed like a magazine, with short stories. Super cool. Reservations are recommended.

The staff were friendly, but unfortunately a bit slow (which was surprising as we had an early dinner and only a few other customers were there at that time). The playing of the dishes were beautiful. Half of our dishes tasted good (veggie dumplings, mushroom wontons and curry soup) and the other half weren’t (5 spice chicken, tofu sticks and sweet potatoes fries)- these all lacked seasoning). Lots of seating both inside and out. Nice decor and vibe on the inside on the restaurant.

Super cozy. Always delicious. Be sure to pre-order. The Asian tapas are simply delicious. My vegetarian favorites: crunchy sushi and mango salad.

I ate at madamemai yesterday and unfortunately dropped my drink shortly after it was brought. I apologized several times, but the waiter was just annoyed and made it very clear. I paid the full price for the drink even though I didn't take a sip. I wasn't even asked if I wanted a new one. Of course, I would have paid for both, but since they were so unfriendly, I didn't even bother to offer it. That's not what I consider good service. The food was average. The rice had yellow grains stuck together, as if they had been scraped from the bottom of the pot.

Fusion cuisine Asian and tapas.. Very tasty

It was actually pretty okay there. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was okay, maybe a bit loud overall, but that's okay. Things got a bit annoying towards the end with the drinks. Little things had been forgotten beforehand (for example, we had reordered rice, which never arrived and we had to remind them again), but that was all okay. The place is packed, so things can get forgotten. We waited a total of about 50 minutes for our espresso martinis, including three reminders from us. That was fine for half an hour and even amusing, but then at some point it became annoying, and after the third reminder, after 40 minutes, it became unacceptable. The waiter reacted as one should in such a situation, when damage control is called for. He apologized, removed the drinks from the bill, and bought us a shot. It must be emphasized that he handled everything well, and we left in good spirits. Kudos to our waiter. That was the best thing he could have done in the situation. It would have been better, of course, if they had reacted earlier, as there was plenty of time and several opportunities. The store needs to get this under control a bit better; it was noticeable that they were short of staff. Please step up and improve the staffing.

The food was good, the menus were completely gone, and while we were still in the middle of dinner, the restaurant closed and practically swept us out. It's a shame we won't be coming back. The restrooms were very clean, though ;)

An absolutely fantastic restaurant with great attention to detail 😍 in both the decor and the food! The interior is beautiful, modern, and designed with so much love that you immediately feel at home. The menu is also a highlight in itself – creatively designed like a magazine and full of exciting dishes. We had the crispy wonton and the steamed vegetable dumplings for starters, both so delicious that we devoured them in no time. For main courses, we had the Geisha Udon (vegetarian), Veggie Tom Yum, Tom Yum Spaghetti with King Prawns, and the Entrecôte with Udon Noodles 🍷🤤😍 everything was perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented; it was simply divine. The vegetables, in particular, were excellently prepared... my vegetarian friends loved it. The service was also super friendly and attentive. For us, it was a culinary experience of the highest quality... we'll definitely be back on our next visit to Hamburg 💖

We came here this evening at 6 p.m. on a whim and got a table right away. The service was super attentive and friendly, the food arrived very quickly and was absolutely delicious. From meat dishes to vegetarian options to chicken – we had a great selection on the table, and everything tasted excellent. It was truly a pleasure to eat here and spend the evening. A clear recommendation! The value for money is also absolutely spot on.

Review for the fusion restaurant Madame Mia Three of us went to Madame Mia today for a birthday dinner. Unfortunately, we were seated at a very small table, which was far too cramped for the amount of food and drinks. Our polite request for a slightly larger table was declined, which unfortunately made the shared meal a bit less relaxing. The food was thankfully served promptly, and the presentation of the dishes was truly outstanding – you can see the attention to detail. However, we would have expected more service from a restaurant in this price range. For example, we had to ask for salt twice. On the positive side, empty plates and bottles were cleared away quickly and attentively. Overall, our expectations of the restaurant were somewhat higher – also due to its reputation and price range. We went once, but a second visit is out of the question for us.

The service was friendly and state-of-the-art, with ordering pads, and everything went smoothly; there were no long waits despite the busy times. The restrooms, however, are upstairs, which wasn't so great.

We were there today for dinner with a group of 14 to celebrate our birthday boy. There was enough space for everyone, and we were lucky enough to sit in a nice, quiet corner. Almost all of the staff speak fluent Vietnamese – I found them really nice. I ordered black pepper beef with trà bông (jasmine tea with rose and jasmine petals, rose syrup, and lime), and for dessert, xoài nếp cẩm (mango with sticky rice). The trà bông came first – really aromatic and delicious. It looked really good, just like the main course later on! Unfortunately, my main course arrived almost immediately after – much earlier than the others' dishes. By the time we all finally wanted to eat at the same time, my food was unfortunately already quite cold. It tasted good, but the Sichuan sauce was much too salty for my taste. What I really liked, however, was that the steak was rare and even still had the fat and connective tissue (the "silver skin") on it. In Western restaurants, that's often trimmed away – here it was still there. I think it's great. The Xoài Nếp Cẩm was also really delicious. The sticky rice had a great texture, the sauce was velvety and aromatic, the mango was nice and soft and sweet – all in all, just really good! What I really would have liked, though, was that the main courses had been served at the same time. As I said, my food was already cold by the time we started. Another thing I noticed: The waitress who took our money at the end was clearly annoyed when we had a dessert left over that we hadn't paid for yet. I immediately called and paid for it, but she was still really pissed off. Sorry, I'm only human? 😭 Sure, there were 14 of us and we paid individually or in pairs – that's certainly stressful. But what was the alternative? Simply letting the birthday girl pay €700 in advance? Really not an option. Conclusion: Apart from the two criticisms – that my food was cold and the unfriendly response when paying – the restaurant was good overall.

I had the corn salad, which tasted quite good, but the online menu states that it comes with a crispy avocado, but this wasn't the case in the restaurant. The service was mostly quick and friendly, with a few hiccups when paying, which made me feel a bit like they just wanted the customer to leave quickly. Sometimes, food was completely forgotten. I found the atmosphere cozy, the restrooms were clean, but difficult or even impossible to access for wheelchair users/people with mobility difficulties, as they are located on the first floor. I found the prices to be reasonable.

A truly great restaurant located here. We had dinner here with my larger group and were pleasantly surprised by the food and the service. Service was friendly and reliable. No one got the wrong order, and no one had to wait long for their drink. This continued with the food, including the appetizers. Everything came out right away, and most importantly: It was soooo delicious! (And at the right temperature, too!, which isn't necessarily a given.) We ordered a wide variety of dishes: chicken, beef, or vegetarian. I would personally recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Asian food. Oh, and the prices are right, too. In my opinion. Main courses between €18-23 are absolutely reasonable for what's on offer!

We're currently on a short break in Hamburg and stumbled upon Madame Mai by chance. Great atmosphere, huge selection of food, especially the various Asian-style tapas. And absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Nice restaurant, the food was actually quite good. The tapas were very tasty and ideal as a "starter" for sharing. However, my main course was portioned differently than indicated on the menu (the sweet potatoes were served on the plate, not in a separate bowl. Perhaps it was only shown on the menu as a suggested order. Still, I would have expected something different). I also thought I'd be served some kind of hoi sin sauce. It tasted more like a gravy with a strong peppery note (due to the presence of the peppercorns). And unfortunately, my entrecôte was tough in places (it only bothered me slightly, as I have no problem eating it). However, I have to say that the drinks we ordered were extremely tasty and refreshing (even though it was raining that day). The portion my friend received for his dish was more than sufficient and quite good. All in all, the visit to the restaurant was great, and the most important thing is that we both left full!

Wir hatten als Vorspeise, Tapas mit Ente, Sushi und Sommerrollen mit Rindfleisch. Als Hauptgericht Entrecot und Riesengarnelen mit Odon Nudeln als Suppe. Alles war sensationell lecker. Die Bedienung war total aus Zack, sehr schnell, zuvorkommend und sehr freundlich. Man kann das Lokal nur empfehlen. Wir werden bei unserem nächsten Besuch auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.
